'''Ironhide''' is a battle hardened veteran, one of the toughest amongst the Autobots. As one of [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus']] oldest and closest friends, Ironhide saw the great potential within Optimus to be more than what he allowed himself to be.
{{quote|Always happy to get more ammo.|Ironhide|''[[Transformers: War for Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)|War for Cybertron]]''}}

==Fiction==
===Aligned novels===
Ironhide first met Optimus Prime during the prolonged stalemate at [[Praxus]]. Furious at the loss of his home, Ironhide joined the Autobots despite his cynicism regarding Optimus's leadership. It was at Praxus that Optimus was first showed a preference to stand and fight rather than make strategic withdrawals, and Ironhide slowly but surely began to trust in Optimus. [[Alpha Trion (Prime)|Alpha Trion]] commented that Ironhide's "pitiless edge" gave the Autobots a necessary advantage in defeating [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]].

When Megatron invaded [[Teletraan-1]] to steal the [[Plasma energy|Plasma Energy Chamber]], Ironhide made an uncharacteristically emotional display of anguish when [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream's]] Seekers shot down [[Omega Supreme (WFC)|Omega Supreme]], who attempted to ferry the Chamber to safety. As [[Decepticon]]s attempted to claim the Chamber, Ironhide fought one but fell into the crater caused by Omega's impact. He defeated two more who jumped after him, and Optimus lifted him out of the pit, but he fell in again when another Decepticon struck him in the face with a hooked chain. Megatron blasted Optimus, causing him to fall on top of Ironhide, but he ordered his commander to ignore him and stop Megatron.

After the battle, [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] welded Ironhide's face back together. When Optimus proposed leaving Cybertron on the ''[[Ark (WFC)|Ark]]'', Ironhide boarded the ''[[Eight Track (WFC)|Eight Track]]'' with him to distract the Decepticons. Realizing Megatron had a beam aboard [[Trypticon (WFC)|Trypticon Station]], Ironhide and the Autobots boarded the ship and blew up its [[Dark Energon]] Facility, causing it to crash. He then boarded the completed ''Ark'' and escaped Cybertron through the last [[space bridge]] to the [[Milky Way]]. {{storylink|Transformers: Exodus|Exodus}}

After passing through the unstable space bridge, Ironhide and the Autobots aboard the ''Ark'' found themselves in the vicinity of a Cybertronian colony world called [[Velocitron]]. Ironhide was assigned to Hound's second response team, as Optimus Prime made planetfall with his initial team. It was a time of great stress between Velocitron's rulers, and the Autobots' arrival from mythical Cybertron only exacerbated the situation. Although the Autobots secured an ally in one of the planet's rulers, [[Override (Prime)|Override]], they left Velocitron on the brink of civil war during their departure.

The next leg of their journey through the Space Bridge brought the Autobots to fabled [[Junkion (planet)|Junkion]], a world composed entirely of space junk. This time, Ironhide joined Optimus, [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] and [[Makeshift (Prime)|Hound]] as they touched down on the planet's heterogenous surface. The Autobot envoys were attacked shortly after landing, as the local Junkions decided they looked like spare parts in the making. With Optimus Prime's blessing, Ironhide unleashed a volley of plasma rockets to help convince the Junkions that these parts weren't for sale just yet.

During the Autobots' stay on Junkion, Ironhide assisted [[Prowl (Prime)|Prowl]] with his investigations, and later interrogation, of the shifty Decepticon-turned-Junkion named [[Axer (Prime)|Axer]]. He defended the ''Ark'' from attack when the ''Nemesis'' finally caught up with them, and remained with the crew when they finally left Junkion on a new heading towards the [[AllSpark]] itself. {{storylink|Transformers: Exiles|Exiles}}

Ironhide led a squad of Autobots to defend the [[Decagon]] during the [[Decepticon]] invasion of [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]]. With the loss of [[Sentinel Zeta Prime|Zeta Prime]], Ironhide's old friend Optimus was forced to take command of the Autobots, an act that the old soldier approved, as he was glad that Optimus was finally stepping up to take his rightful place in the Autobot hierarchy. After helping Optimus and his team by clearing a path for them to the Decagon (and taking down two [[Brute (WFC)|Brute]]s, tearing one in half), he continued to lead the others to (successfully) push the Decepticons into retreat.

After Optimus became Optimus [[Prime (rank)|Prime]], Ironhide and [[Warpath (WFC)|Warpath]] joined him on the mission to clear the core of Cybertron that was infected with [[Dark Energon]]. Ironhide constantly rebuked the young, aggressive Warpath's shoot-first attitude. Heading to the [[Omega Gate]], the three Autobots found [[Omega Supreme (WFC)|Omega Supreme]] being tortured with Dark Energon. Freeing the massive Autobot, Ironhide joined Optimus and Warpath in protecting [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] long enough to repair Omega to the open the Gate. Heading underground, the three Autobots found [[space slug]]s working to clear the Dark Energon crystals. When they were sealed off in a cavern, another slug came in and killed an attacking Decepticon, to which the old, knowledgeable Ironhide offered the [[universal greeting]], but the slug simply ignored them and moved on with its task. The three Autobots then found a trio of slugs with [[Ion Displacer]] turrets on their backs, and provided cover fire for the slugs as they made their way through Cybertron. Unfortunately, a corrupted space slug attacked the trio, knocking them underground and killing the slugs. Regrouping at the core, they were attacked by the corrupted slug, and managed to defeat it. Unfortunately, the Dark Energon corrupted the [[Primus|Core]], which could only purge the corruption by shutting down all systems, leaving Cybertron uninhabitable and forcing the Transformers to leave Cybertron. Before departing, Ironhide and Warpath witnessed Optimus receive a part of the Core's essence, the [[Matrix of Leadership]].

As the evacuation went underway, Megatron used his orbital station to attacking fleeing transports. A group of [[Aerialbot (WFC)|Aerialbots]] under [[Silverbolt (WFC)|Silverbolt]] managed to shut down the station's cannon, only to learn that the station itself was a Cybertronian named [[Trypticon (WFC)|Trypticon]]. Ironhide joined Optimus and [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] in finishing off the monster. Though many Autobots managed to escape, a number of them, Ironhide included, stayed behind to fight against Megatron's schemes. Optimus commissioned the building of a new starship, the ''[[Ark (WFC)|Ark]]'', to take the Autobots from Cybertron, [[Earth|wherever they may go]]. {{storylink|Transformers: War for Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)|Transformers: War for Cybertron}}
[[Image:WFCDS Ironhide.jpg|thumb|right|120px]]
When the Decepticons started sniffing around an Autobot base, Ironhide sent an [[Autobot rookie]] to find out what they were looking for. Unfortunately, the rookie was killed by Megatron while letting Ironhide know he'd gotten the data links back up and running. Ironhide was captured by the Decepticons at some point and used in Kaon prison to fight Dark Energon-enhanced Decepticons, but presumably later escaped.

Sometime later, Ironhide was contacted by Zeta Prime, who was trying to get hold of Optimus. With the loss of the communications system, Ironhide sent Bumblebee to find Optimus, and a rookie to help Ratchet and [[Air Raid (WFC)|Air Raid]]. Once the rookie had gotten the communication system up and running, Ironhide let him know that he was being reassigned to [[Kup (WFC)|Kup]]'s care. Ironhide then directed Optimus around the base, guiding him to areas the Decepticons had taken over.

Optimus announced they needed to retake Iacon, and Ironhide eagerly told him to lead the way, to which Optimus replied that he was no leader. Despite that, the Autobots retook the Decagon, and Ironhide reported that the defenses were back online. When Ironhide rebuked Bumblebee's suggestion that Zeta Prime's transmissions were leading them into a trap, Bumblebee exploded at him that they'd already lost the war. Optimus's team infiltrated Kaon, where Ironhide was more keen to bash Decepticons than rescue Zeta Prime, until Optimus reminded him of their mission. They found Zeta Prime, but their leader died, and Optimus was subsequently appointed Autobot leader. Optimus sought the services of [[Grimlock (WFC)|Grimlock]], whose slow processor and reluctance to help irritated Ironhide, almost leading to a fight between the two of them and forcing Optimus to tell him to stand down. The Autobots rescued [[Swoop (WFC)|Swoop]], which helped sway Grimlock in favor of their cause, though Ironhide still wasn't sure it was a good idea. He took part in a mission to the core, to free it from the Dark Energon harvesters that were irradiating it.

With Cybertron no longer capable of supporting life, the Autobots began to evacuate the planet in Arks, but were attacked by Trypticon Station. Optimus intended to take a strike team up the space bridge to directly assault it, which Ironhide regarded as a suicide mission. Still, he joined the mission, and the station was brought down, but as Bumblebee celebrated their escape, Ironhide pointed out the station was transforming. Trypticon's size gave even Ironhide pause, but he still joined the team that headed for the crash site to take the giant on. At one point, he was pinned down by enemy fire, which the other Autobots helped suppress so he could reach a security access panel. He joined them in defeating Trypticon, and later left Cybertron along with the rest of the Autobots. {{storylink|Transformers: War for Cybertron (DS)}}

===''Transformers: Cybertron Adventures''===
Ironhide and Bumblebee were tasked with retrieving information from a Decepticon datacore about the "Trypticon" weapon. They nearly managed to make a successful getaway from Kaon before Megatron and Soundwave arrived, dropping the Autobots in the streets. Ironhide was shackled and imprisoned, whie Bumblebee was scheduled for interrogation under the neural scanner. A lucky power outage during an Autobot raid freed Ironhide from his bonds, and he raced through the detention facility to rescue Bumblebee before the scanner forced him to reveal military secrets. He found the kid, but not before some data was lost to the scanner. On the way out of the prison, the duo were radioed by Air Raid, who offered to provide air support during their escape. Thanks to his creative use of firepower, they were able to escape down a road that had previously been a dead end.

Later, Ironhide returned the favour by providing comm support to Air Raid, who was using the data recovered on Trypticon to block the power supply running between Trypticon and the Geosynchronous Energy Bridge. He plotted Air Raid's course through the Decepticon controlled tunnels near the Bridge.

After Trypticon Station fell to Cybertron's surface and revealed itself as a gi-normous transforming creature, Ironhide joined Optimus Prime and Bumblebee in racing to the crash site to finish him off. They were separated during the journey, and had to fight through multiple Decepticon vanguards before even reaching Trypticon. Eventually, it was the combined firepower and teamwork of the Autobot forces that brought down the dangerous dinosaur. Ironhide was ready to kick back with some lubricant, but Optimus reminded him that the war was far from over. {{storylink|Transformers: Cybertron Adventures}}
But after the [[Great Exodus]] of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], she decided to go solo. During the war for Cybertron, Airachnid managed to capture [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] and her partner [[Tailgate (Prime)|Tailgate]]. Quickly realizing that Arcee would resist the physical torture she used, Airachnid decided to employ a simpler threat: Tell her the attack coordinates of an impeding attack, or Tailgate dies. Arcee insisted she didn't know the coordinates, but Airachnid didn't believe her and killed Tailgate. Moments later, [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] and [[Cliffjumper (Prime)|Cliffjumper]] burst into the holding room, killing the two [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]]s and rescuing Arcee. Airachnid, however, escaped.

Following the [[Great Exodus]], Airachnid concluded that the war was over, meaning she needed a new way to spend her time. Abandoning the Decepticons, she decided to hunt sentient species, then wipe them out after getting a trophy. Eventually, Airachnid crash-landed [[Airachnid's ship|her ship]] on [[Earth]]. She initially laid her optics on a lone camper, but was ambushed by Arcee. While Arcee gained the upper hand, she was distracted by her human partner, [[Jack Darby]], and Airachnid webbed her to a rock. Having learned of Cliffjumper's recent demise, Airachnid decided that making Jack her next trophy would be a delicious way to hurt Arcee before finally snuffing out her [[spark]]. She chased Jack back to her ship, but discovered too late that the human had snuck out the underside. She spotted Jack ''just'' in time to see him hurl a flaming stick into a pool of [[energon]] that was leaking from her ship. Airachnid barely managed to escape the explosion, but she was wounded and ''really'' pissed. She managed to web the fleeing Jack to a tree, but before Airachnid could deliver the killing blow, Arcee came to the rescue and absolutely wiped the forest floor with the Decepticon. Deciding she had endured enough for one night, Airachnid drilled into the ground and fled. {{storylink|Predatory}}

[[Image:Crisscross-helicopter.jpg|right|thumb|300px|Finally a use for those helicopter cockpit halves on her shoulders!]]
Learning of [[MECH]]'s treatment of [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]], Airachnid engineered a distress call which lured [[Silas]] to the forest. She made a deal with the MECH agent to give him Arcee – at least, what would be ''left'' of her – if he could deliver Jack to her. Silas used the [[Internet]] to track down information on Jack and have [[June Darby]] kidnapped so Airachnid cocooned her and dangled her from a building in the disused [[Jasper]] factory MECH was occupying. When Jack arrived, Airacnid gave him six minutes to rescue his mother. She followed Jack around the factory and, when he eventually found June and claimed victory, she pointed out the task was to ''rescue'' mom, not just find her. Before Airachnid could start with the dismemberment, Arcee arrived to attack her and the two enemies fought at length around the building's structure. During the fight, Airachnid was thrown into a container and coated with concrete, but managed to get free and web Arcee to the ground. She was about to finish off Arcee when she was attacked by [[William Fowler|Agent Fowler]]'s helicopters, and was forced to [[scanning|scan]] one so she could escape. {{storylink|Crisscross}}
Airachnid followed a magnetic signal and found [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] with a [[polarity gauntlet]]. Seeking to obtain the weapon, she buried him underground, but he escaped and she was forced to fight him. Then Arcee turned up with a [[Bulkhead (Prime)|new partner for her to snuff]] and she had to fight them as well. When Breakdown activated the gauntlet, she fled in alarm. She later ambushed the 'Con on his way back to the ''[[Trypticon (Prime)|Nemesis]]'', taking the gauntlet from him and reacting with disdain to his suggestion they could take it back to [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] together. The Autobots caught up with them, and Airachnid used the gauntlet to draw Arcee to her for a little one-on-one fighting. When the battle started to turn sour, however, she grabbed the gauntlet and attempted to flee in her helicopter form. Unfortunately, Bulkhead grabbed her and threw her into Breakdown. Fused magnetically to the 'Con, she was carried back to the ''Nemesis'', where she had no choice but to rejoin the Decepticons. {{storylink|Metal Attraction}}
[[Image:Partners-Immobilizer.jpg|thumb|250px|"Even shinier than the [[Polarity gauntlet]]!"]]
Immediately ingratiating herself with Megatron, Airachnid told the Decepticon leader that [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] had been keeping information to himself, such as the location of the crashed Decepticon ship, the ''[[Harbinger]]''. Megatron ordered Starscream to take Airachnid to the ship's crash site and secure the experimental weapon it contained. Once there, Airachnid discovered that the half of the ship containing the [[Immobilizer]] had broken off before impact. She webbed up Starscream and forced him to tell her the location of the aft section, but was attacked by the Autobots while leaving. After a brief fight with Arcee, Airachnid was chased off by [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]], and instead went to find the ''Harbinger''<nowiki>'s</nowiki> aft. She quickly located it and retrieved the Immobilizer, then lay in wait as Optimus's team approached the ship. She was able to freeze Bulkhead and Optimus, but some deft trickery by Bumblebee allowed him to sneak up on her and destroy the Immobilizer. She retreated back to the ''Nemesis'' where she tried to blame the loss of the Immobilizer on Starscream as well as explain why she left him behind. Unluckily for her, an enraged Megatron roared that by allowing the Decepticon second-in-command to be taken prisoner, she'd just put all Decepticon intelligence at the fingertips of the Autobots. {{storylink|Partners}}

Despite this, she was promoted to Second in Command during Starscream's absence. {{storylink|One Shall Fall}} Breakdown seemed to have developed a crush on Airachnid. {{storylink|Stronger, Faster}}

[[Image:Tfprime Airachnid thoughts of betrayal.jpg|thumb|250px|left|Who needs Starscream?]]
When the Decepticons located the last part they needed for their space bridge in a human installation, Airachnid suggested she could burrow up under it, but Megatron announced that the time for stealth was past, so she didn't. Once they secured the power source they needed, Airachnid and Knock Out observed Megatron acting strangely and wondered if their leader was losing it. {{storylink|One Shall Fall}} While the [[Decepticon Miner|miners]] gathered up [[Dark Energon]], Airachnid hung out on the bridge and watched as [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] played back [[Unicron]]'s pulse. She reported to Megatron that the hold was full, and they should think about retreating. He responded by leaving her in charge while he went to go and talk to Unicron. {{storylink|One Shall Rise, Part 1}} Airachnid returned the ''Nemesis'' to orbit to wait. When no further word came from Megatron, she told Soundwave that Megatron might not be coming back. {{storylink|One Shall Rise, Part 2}}

[[Image:OneShallRise3-SoundwaveAirachnid.jpg|right|thumb|250px|''Round One. FIGHT!!!'']]
When she called the ''Nemesis''<nowiki>'</nowiki> crew to the bridge, she had deduced that Megatron, either deceased or deep within Unicron, had abandoned them, and with Earth falling into chaos, decided that they should relocate to [[Regulon Four]]. As none of the other Decepticons spoke out against her, Airachnid ordered Soundwave to set the ''Nemesis'' on course, however the silent Decepticon refused to comply. She attempted to assert her leadership by attacking him, only to discover that she was no match for Soundwave and his Minicon [[Laserbeak (Prime)|Laserbeak]]. The pair double-teamed her, and she was forced to yield when held underfoot. She subsequently decided to be elsewhere when Megatron did return. {{storylink|One Shall Rise, Part 3}}

Airachnid was soon back as Megatron's subordinate, though she expressed her concern about the amnesiac Optimus Prime being allowed full run of the ship. When Arcee sneaked on board The Nemesis to find Optimus, Airachnid readily volunteered to go and deal with her, even offering to offline The Autobot. However, Megatron felt that the situation needed to be dealt with more subtly, so he sent Soundwave instead. {{storylink|Orion Pax, Part 1}}

[[Image:Crossfire Airachnid captures Arcee.jpg|thumb|left|250px|]]
Though Airachnid offered to employ her tracking skills in finding more artifacts, Megatron instead had [[Dreadwing (Prime)|Dreadwing]] and Breakdown try to offline her. She webbed the former to a tree and dismantled the latter. Not long after, she encountered an [[Insecticon (Prime)|Insecticon]] which she was able to control. After an encounter with Starscream, she lured Megatron to an abandoned energon mine and set the Insecticon on him, watching the fight until she was attacked by Arcee. The Autobot pursued her as she burrowed away, but Airachnid managed to ambush her foe. She was prevented from terminating the helpless Arcee by Starscream, and instead had to flee, but this fortuitously led her to stumble on a whole Insecticon hive. {{Storylink|Crossfire}}

Detecting a beacon transmitting from the ''Nemesis'', Airachnid woke the Insecticon army to go eliminate Megatron. Their activity drew the attention of the Autobots, and though Airachnid sent Insecticons after them, Arcee relentlessly pursued her into the Insecticon hive. As they fought, Arcee managed to maneuver Airachnid onto one of the pods, which closed and put her into stasis. The stasis-locked Airachnid was taken back to [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|the Autobot base]]. {{storylink|Armada (episode)|Armada}}
* The existence of the name "Airachnid" was first revealed when Hasbro filed an intent-to-use [http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=77892423 trademark application] for the term with the US Trademark and Patent Office. :''Rapido is an [[Autobot]] from the [[Generation 1 continuity family]].''
[[Image:G1 Rapido cardart.jpg|right|300px|thumb|He is the most interesting bot in the world.]]

'''Rapido''' outranks you. He outranks everybody. Even [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], even though he humbly retains the job of "Platoon Commander" of the [[Axelerator]]s.

Suave, unflappable and endlessly clever, Rapido uses his tactical genius to bring the Autobots ever closer to final victory over the [[Decepticon]]s. His plans are amazingly complex, plotted down to the smallest detail. Even when things are rough, he keeps his cool and works out a plan to turn things around again.

==Fiction==
===Dreamwave comics continuity===
[[Image:DW Skyfire cameos.jpg|right|thumb|300px|Even [[Decepticon]]s list him as their emergency contact number.]]
Rapido, standing beside [[Aero Raid]] and [[Windbreaker]], was among a crowd of unhappy Autobots who made [[Prowl (G1)|Prowl]] look really stupid when the latter tried to make a speech. {{storylink|Skyfire (issue)|Skyfire}}
[[Image:RapidoPowers.jpg|left|thumb|200px|He once held the Matrix, only to give it back.]]

During a battle outside of the [[Large Hadron Collider]] in [[Switzerland]], Rapido ordered a fall back after [[Pyro]] was captured. Minutes later, when [[Scorch (G1)|Scorch]] and [[Streetwise (G1)|Streetwise]] tried to take over, Rapido balked at being treated like a child, despite only being a minor in [[Earth]] years. When Scorch objected to his formulating a rescue plan, Rapido reminded him that he technically outranked all Autobots on [[Earth]] in emergency situation, as authorized by [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] himself.

Eventually the Autobots went on the counterattack to stop the Decepticons from seizing the power of the Collider and to save Pyro. While most the Autobots kept the Decepticons busy, Rapido took [[Meanstreak]] and Streetwise to the back entrance. While his low-yield photo missiles were unable to crack the door, Streetwise's knock caused it to tumble. Once inside they met with a duo of [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticon]] guards and attempted to use the [[universal greeting]] to quell them. When this proved fruitless, Rapido transformed and crashed the guards through the door they were guarding, right into the room where Pyro was being held!

The rescue team began getting pummeled by the [[Forestonite]]-infused Decepticons. Rapido shot his missiles to free Pyro, evening the odds a little. When [[Breakdown (G1)|Breakdown]] saw this, he shot the rest of the Forestonite, resulting in its gaseous form filling the building and powering up all the [[Transformer]]s within. Rapido found he now had the power of super speed, and used it to outrun [[Sky-Byte (G2)|Sky-Byte's]] missiles, leading them into the main skirmish and having them hit [[Cindersaur]] instead. When the Decepticons retreated, Rapido attended to the humans and later enjoyed a drink of energon. {{storylink|Generation 2: Redux}}

: Rapido transforms into a somewhat abstracted [http://www.supercars.net/cars/4759.html Peugeot Quasar] concept car. His chrome-silver, rear-mounted engine block becomes his robot-mode blaster weapon. Rapido's toy is primarily distinguished by his head being too recessed actually to see over his robot mode chest. It is also [[gang-molding|gang-molded]] with [[Turbofire]].

: He was initially released in the European market in 1993, during the transitional time when the Transformers toys took on the new ''Generation 2'' sigils, but the packaging lacked the "''Generation 2''" line-name.
**''Accessories'': Engine-block rifle

: Released concurrently with the European "Generation 1" Rapido, the US version is almost identical to the European toy, save the pink clear-plastic being replaced with smoky-black. Rapido was re-released in the European ''Generation 2'' line the following year, retaining his clear-pink plastics.

===Block Town===
**''Accessories'': Engine-block rifle, gas pump brick set

: Rapido's mold was one of several intended to be used in the post-''Generation 2'' [[TakaraTomy|Takara]] ''[[Block Town]]'' line. To be [[redeco]]ed in black with blue robot parts, he was to come with the "Gasoline Station Set", a building-block gas pump that could be rebuilt into a battle station of some form. This set ultimately never came to release. In 2005, a supposed Takara "release" schedule listed the ''Block Town'' sets among several other future items coming out. Only the ''[[Transformers: Cybertron (franchise)|Galaxy Force]]'' items on that list saw release, however (and some only as store [[exclusive]]s to boot).

{{note|Dammit!!!}}

:Given that Rapido's Japanese name was revealed on a [[BotCon|BotCon Japan]]-exclusive poster to be "Rapid Engine" - a poster that also showed Windbreaker's Japanese name as being "Carzap", which was what the Block Town Windbreaker redeco showed up as in ''[[Transformers Generations]]'' - it's likely that the Block Town Rapido was going to be named "Rapid Engine" as well.
* "Rapido" means "rapid" or "fast" in Spanish and Italian.
* Like all of the toys carried over from the European line for ''Generation 2'', Rapido got entirely new artwork for his US release (shown at the top of this article). His original artwork was considerably less scary than that of his fellow Axelerators.
* Regarding him outranking "everybody"... that's a slight exaggeration, but not by much. In the 1993 US line, only Rapido and [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] had a "10" Rank in their [[Tech Spec]]s; [http://www.tfu.info/1993/Autobot/OptimusPrime/optimusprime.htm the Optimus Prime toy released that year had a mere "9"]. [[Speedstream]] also had a 10, but as he was never released in the US, few fans knew about it back then and thus the [[Aquaspeeder]] leader got to miss out on the joke.
* Though Rapido was never released in Japan, he did gain a Japanese name via a [[BotCon Japan 1997]] [[exclusive]] poster, which featured bios for all of the new ''Generation 2'' characters released in the US who weren't part of the Japanese line: the Axelerators, the [[Skyscorcher]]s, [[Rotor Force]], four of the [[Go-Bot (G2)|Go-Bots]] and the [[Color Changer]]s.
* For BotCon 2010, his character was based somewhat on "[[wikipedia:The Most Interesting Man in the World|The Most Interesting Man in the World]]" from the Dos Equis beer commercials. His bio card from the convention was written entirely in Spanish, because this was an awesome thing to do. After the convention, [[Fun Publications]] put up [http://www.botcon.com/BotCon10/images10/RAPIDO10english.jpg an English version].
Unlike Aerialbot, he can only be used in multiplayer or accessed Via an ingame cheat. The cheat for the XBOX 360 version as listed on some sites is wrong, it should be: RS,LB,LB,Y,X,A. The code to use him in the PS3 version is: R3, L1, L1, Triangle, Square, X. Protectobot is not playable in Deep 6 as he is unable to fly. ==Fiction==
===''Exiles''===
Wheeljack was a member of the Wreckers black-ops. After the [[Great Exodus]], the Autobots remaining on Cybertron encountered the inventor and engineer wandering outside [[Crystal City]]. They took him in, with [[Alpha Trion (Prime)|Alpha Trion]] theorizing that he had escaped from [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]]'s facilities there. Wheeljack proceeded to equip the resistance with new gadgets and weaponry, but his true loyalty remained to science, rather than the Autobots.

Eventually, Wheeljack, along with [[Ultra Magnus (WFC)|Ultra Magnus]] and [[Springer (WFC)|Springer]] approached Alpha Trion to propose re-creating [[space bridge]] technology on a personal scale, and using the energies from the space bridge explosion to trace the locations of the vanished ''[[Ark (WFC)|Ark]]'' and ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]''. The project proceeded, and the inventor was able to find a way of opening a brief passageway through space-time, utilising the remaining energies of the [[Well of All Sparks]] and the damaged consciousness of [[Vector Sigma]]. Wheeljack suggested they send a message of some sort through the gateway to [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]], but Alpha Trion advocated sending an actual bot. Eventually, the Autobot called [[Chaindrive]] was sent, equipped with a device to track the [[Matrix of Leadership]], a piece of the [[Blades of Time]], and a warning for Optimus regarding the [[Requiem Blaster (Prime)|Requiem Blaster]].
Wheeljack emerged from the ''Jackhammer'' and proceeded to trash the Decepticons, but was eventually overwhelmed and taken back to the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]'' where he was imprisoned. He was amused to find that [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] was in command of the Decepticons, and almost goaded Starscream into killing him.
An opportunity allowed him to kill his guard and break free from his bonds. He scaled to the top of the ship, where Starscream was waiting for [[Makeshift (Prime)|Makeshift]], who'd taken on Wheeljack's appearance, to open the Autobot [[GroundBridge]]. Wheeljack smashed a bunch of Vehicons and assaulted Starscream before escaping through the GroundBridge to the [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|Autobot base]]. There he confronted Makeshift and the pair dueled with swords until Wheeljack was victorious. Bulkhead tossed Makeshift back through the GroundBridge along with a "present" for the 'cons.
Though the Autobots welcomed Wheeljack, he revealed that he intended to return to space. He invited Bulkhead along, but Bulkhead was too attached to his friends on Earth to leave. Bulkhead was sure Wheeljack would return someday... {{storylink|Con Job}}

[[Image:LooseCannons Wheeljack fires back.jpg|thumb|left|250px]]
During his travels, Wheeljack made contact with fellow Wrecker [[Seaspray (Prime)|Seaspray]] only for [[Dreadwing (Prime)|Dreadwing]] to destroy Seaspray's ship. Wheeljack chased Dreadwing to Earth where they battled near a gas station, which was destroyed in the conflict as [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]]'s team arrived. Filling the other Autobots in, Wheeljack found himself chafing over the need for secrecy. When Dreadwing called him to arrange a meeting, Wheeljack took Bulkhead to try and trap the Decepticon. The encounter instead left Wheeljack buried.

Once Optimus dug him out, he accompanied the Autobot leader to the port where Bulkhead had been taken by Dreadwing and attempted to remove the bomb the Decepticon had placed on his comrade. Eventually he was forced to concede only Dreadwing could remove the bomb, and he and Optimus played a gambit that forced Dreadwing's hand. Convinced to stay on Earth by the other Autobots, Wheeljack adopted a new alternate mode and drove off to explore the planet. {{storylink|Loose Cannons}}
{{disambig3|Cliffjumper}}
:''Cliffjumper is an [[Autobot]] from the [[Movie (franchise)|2007 movie franchise]] in the [[Live-action film series|live-action film]] [[continuity family]].''

[[Image:ReignofStarscream3 Cliffjumper.jpg|right|300px|thumb|"...But if we wind up in Carbombya, I quit."]]
'''Cliffjumper''' shoots first and asks questions much, much later. The only intelligence he's patient enough to gather is "[[Decepticon]]s were here, and now they're dead." Despite his surly and impetuous nature, however, [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] seems to like him.

==Fiction==
===IDW ''Transformers'' movie comics===
[[Image:Defiance1_Cliffjumper_Bumblebee.jpg|left|thumb|300px|"Ya-ya know? I like you Bumblebee. I think you are alright" *hic*]]

Many, many years ago, Cliffjumper and his look-alike [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] guarded the [[AllSpark]] at [[Simfur]] from nothing in particular. Cliffjumper tried to get his bored friend to calm down when the yellow guy got anxious from just sitting around. Cliffjumper pointed out that, even though they were [[Defense Force]] material, they'd be just as bored in the Defense Force, just doing patrols. If anything, they should relax and let the action come to them.

Cliffjumper rather regretted his words, as [[Ejoornian|hostile aliens]] attacked Cybertron, and the pair were quickly pinned down under heavy fire. Relief finally came in the form of [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]], who quickly [[Slag (slang)|slagged]] several of the attacking craft. Megatron proceeded to berate the two Autobots for not doing a better job and not taking the fight to the enemy, but received a bad wound from the attackers. When [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] arrived, Megatron told him to keep [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus]]'s team out of their way. {{storylink|Defiance issue 1|Defiance #1}}

After the battle, a panicky Bumblebee knew something ''big'' was coming, though Cliffjumper thought that they wouldn't have anything to do with it anyway, as they're only supposed to stand guard at the [[Simfur Temple|temple]]. [[Prowl (Movie)|Prowl]] and [[Jazz (Movie)|Jazz]] came to investigate the attack on the temple, and Cliffjumper reported that they didn't notice any unusual activity from the AllSpark during the battle. Later, presumably all the security personnel were present at the meeting where Optimus asked them not to follow Megatron into war. {{storylink|Defiance issue 2|Defiance #2}}

After Megatron discovered that Optimus, Prowl and Jazz had been snooping about in his quarters, he sent Cliffjumper and Bumblebee along with other expendable security officers under Prowl's command to arrest Optimus on trumped-up charges of treason. What the officers didn't know was they were all marked for death, and on the trip to [[Trypticon (Movie)|Trypticon]], the group was attacked by soldiers loyal to Megatron. The group managed to escape to [[Burthov]] while Optimus stayed behind long enough to defeat the would-be assassins. {{storylink|Defiance issue 3|Defiance #3}}

In the wastes of Burthov, Cliffjumper got the drop on the disenfranchised solder [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]], who had quit Megatron's army in disgust. A brief standoff ensued where Ironhide was confident that his abundant weaponry would ensure Cliffjumper would not harm him, but the younger 'bot noted the cannons were all Ironhide had, and suddenly, his confederates sprung out of the ground to surround the old soldier. Ironhide wasn't in the mood to fight anyway, so the rebels took him to see Optimus '''Prime'''. {{storylink|Defiance issue 4|Defiance #4}} Cliffjumper was in a crowd of Autobots waiting for Optimus Prime's orders after the Decepticons launched the ''[[Nemesis (ROTF)|Nemesis]]'' into space. {{storylink|Foundation issue 3|Foundation #3}} Sometime later, with the war reaching its peak, Optimus Prime made the decision to capture the AllSpark and launch it into deep space, hopefully sparing Cybertron further devastation and giving his Autobots the breathing room they required. {{storylink|Defiance issue 4|Defiance #4}} Cliffjumper was a crew member of [[Ark (Movie)|Optimus's starship]] when it left Cybertron in pursuit of the AllSpark. {{storylink|The Reign of Starscream issue 1|The Reign of Starscream #1}}

Cliffjumper had returned to Cybertron some time before the year [[1908]], where he participated in a mission to steal [[energon]] from the now Decepticon-controlled Trypticon. His team was ambushed by [[Shockwave (Movie)|Shockwave]]'s troops, and though Cliffjumper himself was shot in the chest by Shockwave, he lived to retreat and regroup. {{storylink|Rising Storm issue 2|Rising Storm #2}}

[[Image:ReignofStarscream3 Cliffjumper hyah.jpg|right|300px|thumb|Hyoh!]]

After the death of Megatron and the destruction of the AllSpark, Cliffjumper was part of an Autobot assault team on [[Mars (planet)|Mars]] under the command of [[Arcee (Movie)|Arcee]]. Together with his teammates, he attacked the Starscream's landed Decepticon starship. {{storylink|The Reign of Starscream issue 2|The Reign of Starscream #2}} Cliffjumper and the others made short work of the [[Swindle (Movie)|Swindle]], [[Dreadwing (Movie)|Dreadwing]], and [[Payload (Movie)|Payload]] drones that the Decepticons sent against them, but were unprepared for [[Thundercracker (Movie)|Thundercracker]]'s sonic weaponry. Cliffjumper and [[Camshaft (Movie)|Camshaft]] attempted to provide cover for [[Smokescreen (Movie)|Smokescreen]] to evacuate the fallen [[Air Raid (Movie)|Air Raid]], but Thundercracker killed Camshaft and wounded Cliffjumper. Saved from certain doom by Arcee, Cliffjumper turned the tides on the Decepticon, only to be shot in the back by Starscream. Arcee attempted to evacuate her wounded comrade, but was struck down by Starscream instead, leaving Cliffjumper's future looking grim. {{storylink|The Reign of Starscream issue 3|The Reign of Starscream #3}}

{{note|Unlike the other Autobots who were clearly shown to have been killed, Cliffjumper's status is ambiguous in the actual fiction. [[Chris Mowry]] says he survived, however.<ref>http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/members/mowry-73165.html#vmessage168039</ref> This is further supported in [[Convergence chapter 4]], where [[Soundwave (ROTF)|Soundwave]] only finds two dead Autobots and not four.}}
The Autobots depend on the brazen Cliffjumper to make the more collected of their enemies so angry that they mess up their own plans. If [[Dead End (ROTF)|Dead End]] and Cliffjumper weren't on opposite sides, they would get along swimmingly {{m-}} because they're both dysfunctional jerks. However, being a straight redeco, the alt mode remains a classic Camaro, instead of a Concept like the Deluxe figure is.
:As part of the ''[[AllSpark Power]]'' refresh of the movie toyline, Cliffjumper is once again a red and silver Bumblebee redeco, this time of the Deluxe Camaro Concept Bumblebee toy and, naturally, transforms into the [[wikipedia:Fifth-generation_Chevrolet_Camaro|concept vehicle for the 2009 Chevrolet Camaro]]. He features two [[Automorph Technology|Automorphing]] gimmicks during transformation: ''(a)'' swinging his hood down into robot mode position also moves his arms up and ''(b)'', swinging his feet down will move the rear fenders up and behind his calves, as well as swinging the rear windows to his inner calves in a spring-loaded action.

: Cliffjumper comes with a plasma cannon that he can hold in either hand. For added play value, the cannon can Automorph into an energy blade by opening up the halves of the gun barrel and swinging them back. Care should be taken when removing the cannon from Cliffjumper's hands, as excessive force can damage the wrist ball joint socket.

: Contrary to popular opinion, the red pieces on the back of Cliffjumper's feet are ''not'' supposed to be heel spurs, and they have ''not'' been mis-assembled. They are supposed to fold up to emulate the detail found on the CGI design for Bumblebee.
==Notes==
[[Image:MovieCGCliffjumper.jpg|right|250px|thumb|One bee, two bee, red bee, blue bee.]]
* An early [[Industrial Light & Magic|ILM]] test animatic (first seen in Circuit City-exclusive web content, later in the "bonus" section of the official movie website) of Bumblebee in battle had 'Bee facing off against a red doppelganger. Hmmmm.
* Amusingly enough, Cliffjumper's 3D card robot mode is clearly designed after ''[[Transformers: Alternators| Alternators]]'' [[Swerve (G1)|Swerve]], though with a few movie-aesthetic concessions thrown in, mostly in the look of the feet. It's ''exceedingly'' likely the names of the two cards got mixed up, as card-game [[Swerve (Movie)|Swerve]] bears more than a passing resemblance to Bumblebee (and by extension, ''every other version'' of movie Cliffjumper), and Cliffjumper sure seems to be relegated to being a Bumblebee redeco since, well, everything after that [[Cliffjumper (G1)|first toy]]. Except [[Cliffjumper (Armada)|these]] [[Cliffjumper (Energon)|three]] [[Cliffjumper (Prime)|bots]].
* With three toys, a [[Titanium Series|Titanium]] figurine, a [[Robot Heroes (toyline)|Robot Heroes]] figurine, and a Battle-Card, Cliffjumper has '''by far''' the most merchandise for a ''Transformers'' movie character not actually appearing IN the film.
* Cover A of [[The Reign of Starscream issue 5]] by [[Alex Milne]], Cliffjumper is featured amongst the Autobots in an Earth mode body based on his Deluxe class toy, despite the fact he never made it to Earth and doesn't even appear in this issue.
:''Jazz is an [[Autobot]] from the [[Aligned continuity family]].''

[[Image:WFC_Jazz.jpg|thumb|300px|Apparently [[Primus]] isn't a matter of belief but his [[Thirteen|children]] are.]]

'''Jazz''' is a cool and collected Autobot. Before the war he was part of the caste tasked with cultural observation and analysis, which gave him more freedom and a wider perspective on the world than his good friend Orion Pax. Though the war has changed much of his life (he is now a skilled and deadly combatant), two things remain constant: his dedication to the friend who is now also his leader [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]], and the interest he takes in all facets of culture, wherever his travels lead. On [[Earth]], Jazz has adopted many popular [[human]] idioms into his vocabulary, and his fascination with their music has led him to implement speakers that fire a hundred sonic booms per second into his weaponry.

==Fiction==
===Aligned novels===
Jazz was a cultural investigator who came to the [[Hall of Records]] to analyze new data from the [[Communication Grid]], which was where he befriended Orion Pax. He secretly attended the [[gladiatorial combat]] in [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]]. When Orion told him about the gladiator [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]]us and his movement to abolish the [[caste system]], Jazz suggested going to [[Kaon]] or that at the very least he should contact Megatronus, considering how much Orion agreed with his ideas. Orion followed his advice, and contacted Megatron (whose name had been shortened by the crowds following a [[Insecticon (WFC)|particularly rousing victory]]). Orion practiced self defense with Jazz following a suggestion in his and Megatron's brainstorms. Jazz was suspicious of Megatron though, and warned Orion that he was the sort of bot that would kill him if he felt he betrayed his ideas.

After terrorists committed acts of violence in Megatron's name, Megatron took Orion to a gladiatorial pit in Iacon, exposing Jazz's secret. Jazz attended the [[Autobot High Council|High Council]]'s hearing with Orion and Megatron and gestured to Orion to be strong in the face of the Council's accusations. After Orion was promoted to Optimus Prime, Jazz joined his Autobots and told him not to mourn every lost soldier following the capture of [[Fort Scyk]]. He, Optimus and [[Sideswipe (WFC)|Sideswipe]] led the Autobots to victory at [[Kalis]] by taking down the combiner [[Bruticus Maximus (WFC)|Bruticus Maximus]].

Jazz was with others in Optimus's inner circle—[[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]], [[Ironhide (Prime)|Ironhide]] and [[Prowl (Prime)|Prowl]]—when the war turned into a siege of Iacon and [[Alpha Trion (Prime)|Alpha Trion]] informed Optimus of a new weapon aboard [[Trypticon (WFC)|Trypticon]] Station. He asked them what they knew about [[energon]]. Jazz joked that it was time for school, but Prowl chided him for making fun at Alpha Trion's expense and that if the Archivist had something to say, it was important. Alpha Trion explained Energon was the emanation of [[Primus]], to which Jazz quipped he still didn't know what that was, prompting laughter from Ironhide and Prowl. Alpha Trion then said Megatron's weapon was [[Dark Energon]], the essence of [[Unicron]], and Jazz stopped joking when he realized a confrontation with superpowered Decepticons was imminent.

Indeed, it was Jazz's team that first encountered Darkened Decepticons at Maintenance Port A46, along the Iacon-[[Kalis]] energy conduit. Though faster than any Decepticon and able to evade them, the Darkened gladiators wiped out his six-member unit. Autobots continually had to flee whenever Darkened Decepticons appeared, but Optimus realized Dark Energon was inefficient and Decepticons always had to retreat if a battle was prolonged. Jazz suggested they continue to fight back.

When Megatron came to Iacon to steal the [[Plasma energy|Plasma Energy Chamber]], Jazz fought with [[Omega Supreme (WFC)|Omega Supreme]] against the Darkened Decepticons, but Megatron was too powerful and took the Chamber to contaminate the [[core]] of Cybertron. Jazz went with Optimus and Prowl in rescuing Sentinel Prime from Kaon, getting briefly paralyzed by a guard's whip, though he was still able to hear Sentinel's last words. After Sentinel's funeral in Iacon, Optimus asked Jazz if he believed the [[Thirteen|Thirteen original Transformers]] existed, to which he replied he didn't, though he saw great metaphorical value in them.

Optimus journeyed to the core, purifying it and obtaining the [[Matrix of Leadership]]. He returned ordering the commencement of [[Ark (WFC)|Project Generation One]] and the evacuation of Cybertron, a notion [[Jetfire (WFC)|Jetfire]] found suicidal but which Jazz defended. He coined the ship's name: the ''Ark''. Jazz helped down Trypticon as part of the ''[[Eight Track (WFC)|Eight Track]]'' crew—bearing the brunt of Trypticon's drones' attacks with Prowl and Ironhide—before boarding the ''Ark''. Despite Jazz's fears about the last [[space bridge]], it transported the Autobots to a [[Milky Way|spiral galaxy]] away from the Decepticons and near the [[AllSpark]]. {{storylink|Transformers: Exodus|Exodus}}

After passing through the unstable Space Bridge, Jazz and the Autobots aboard the Ark found themselves in the vicinity of a Cybertronian colony world called [[Velocitron]]. They located it in part thanks to a mysterious starmap projected outwards from Optimus Prime's chest by the Matrix itself. Jazz was part of Optimus Prime's initial landing team, who made contact with the planet's rulers, [[Override (Prime)|Override]] and [[Ransack (Prime)|Ransack]]. It was a time of great stress between Velocitron's rulers, and the Autobots' arrival from mythical Cybertron only exacerbated the situation. Worse still, active acts of sabotage led the Autobots to the conclusion that one of their crew was actually a Decepticon agent. Jazz and [[Prowl (Prime)|Prowl]] conferred with Optimus about the situation, but ultimately concluded there was little they could do at the moment other than remain on guard. Although the Autobots secured an ally in Override, they left Velocitron on the brink of civil war during their departure, as Ransack's followers had been corrupted by the Decepticon rhetoric of "peace through tyranny" spread by the Ark's traitor.

The next leg of their journey through the Space Bridge brought the Autobots to fabled [[Junkion (planet)|Junkion]], a world composed entirely of space junk. Jazz mouthed off about the poor conditions of the planet and the somewhat meandering nature of their "quest", forcing Optimus Prime to put his foot down about his old friend's lack of discipline. Jazz remained behind on the Ark during the initial visit to Junkion. Of course, this meant he was on hand when the ship exploded and crashed down to Junkion's surface thanks to another round of sabotage. The Autobots went to work repairing the Ark, with the relative assistance of the Junkions. Prowl's investigations into their traitor turned up an astonishing culprit—[[Makeshift (Prime)|Makeshift]], one of the fabled "[[Shifter]]s" descendant from [[Amalgamous Prime]], with the ability to change appearances at will. Jazz and Optimus managed to identify and trap the Shifter in a stasis field, ending his threat to the Autobots.

The Decepticons eventually arrived on Junkion in force, and the two sides warred over a hidden treasure at the planet's core...the [[Requiem Blaster (Prime)|Requiem Blaster]]. A weapon capable of drawing infinite power from nearby stellar sources, the Requiem Blaster had its own gravity field, and had literally been the core around which Junkion's "junk" had formed. The fighting over the Requiem Blaster ripped the planet apart, but both sides eventually called off the melee and abandoned the Blaster after learning the location of the Allspark itself. Optimus Prime, Jazz, and the rest of the Autobots boarded the Ark and began the long race to reach their civilization's greatest prize before Megatron could. {{storylink|Transformers: Exiles|Exiles}}

Jazz was one of many Autobots who was captured by the Decepticons and sent to the [[Kaon]] prison complex. He passed the time in incarceration by doing push ups in his cell, waiting for the day he would be able to break out. That chance came when [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus]], [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] and [[Sideswipe (WFC)|Sideswipe]] (who had allowed themselves to be captured) opened all the cells in Kaon during a daring attempted rescue mission of [[Sentinel Zeta Prime|Zeta Prime]]. [[Air Raid (WFC)|Air Raid]] led the prisoners to transport ships, with which they escaped. He could be seen waving Autobots onto the closest ship through the window from above.
===Generation 1===
* '''Wheeljack''' (1984, 1991)
**''Japanese ID number:'' '''03'''[[Image:G1Wheeljack toy.jpg|right|300px|thumb|Do your arms hang low? Do they wobble to and fro?]]
**''Accessories:'' 2 shoulder cannons, 4 rockets, 2 wings

: The original Wheeljack toy, released as part of the [[1984]] series of Autobots, was based on a ''[[Diaclone]]'' Lancia Stratos Turbo. The deco is based on a specific racing version, the "Group 5" Stratos,<ref name="group5">[http://www.stratossupersite.com/Group5Stratos.htm Information about the real-life Group 5 Stratos]</ref> with sponsor decals by Italian airline [[Wikipedia:Alitalia|Alitalia]], which were changed to "Alital'''l'''a" for the toy (presumably to avoid licensing problems... yeah, it apparently did work like that back in the day). He comes with two rocket launchers that can fire four projectiles and two clear wings. In robot mode, the rocket launchers and the wings mount onto his shoulder and back respectively. The bar his launchers clip to is a 3mm bar, making this the earliest example of the 3mm [[C joint]] system in ''Transformers''. For some reason, Wheeljack's lower arms/hands cannot lock into his upper arms, leaving them hanging at an angle.

: In [[1986]], he was made available as a mail-away item (as he was no longer shipping to retail shelves) in multiple offers, including [[Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction (G1)|Digital Doom on the Highway to Destruction]] fliers packed with most boxed ''Transformers'' toys. He cost $8 and two [[Robot Point]]s.

: Unfortunately for many collectors, Wheeljack's mold has been damaged or destroyed, meaning his chances of future reissue look bleak. The closest version of the figure to currency is the European [[Classics (Europe)|Classics]] reissue.

: Wheeljack's back-mounted wings can be left attached in vehicle mode, making them easier to keep track of. They can also be used in conjunction with the fold-down doors to give Wheeljack a flight mode.

: A [[retool]]ed and [[redeco]]ed version of the ''[[Diaclone]]'' toy was the basis for the obscure [[Decepticon]] "[[Marlboor Wheeljack]]".
**''Accessories:'' 2 missiles

: [[Action Master]] Wheeljack is a non-transforming action figure sculpted based upon his cartoon appearances. He comes with the [[Turbo Racer]], a large red sports car based upon the Ferrari Testarossa that can seat two Action Master figures. The Turbo Racer has an "attack mode" where it transforms into something vaguely resembling an aircraft made from car parts.

: The Wheeljack figure was later redecoed to make [[Slicer]].
:This version of Wheeljack is a redeco of [[Spy Changer]] [[Daytonus]], transforming into a Porsche 962 Le Mans racing car, specifically, a Kremer 962CK6. He is cast in white plastic with mostly black paint. The toy has several stickers to represent Wheeljack's earlier Lancia Stratos colours, including his racing number 539. : ''[[Alternators]]'' Wheeljack is a retool of ''Alternators'' [[Grimlock (G1)/toys|Grimlock]]. He transforms into a 2005 (S197 chassis) model Ford Mustang GT, painted white with blue stripes. In vehicle mode, he features highly realistic styling, opening doors, hood and trunk, as well as a detailed car interior. In robot mode his removable engine becomes a double-barreled laser.

:The Japanese ''Binaltech'' release of the figure has a slightly retooled head (see image inset), different paint applications, and is partially constructed of die-cast metal.
**''Accessories:'' 2 wrenches, 1 shoulder launcher
[[Image:Generationstoy-Wheeljack.jpg|right|thumb|300px|You don't want to drop ''these'' wrenches.]]
: ''[[Generations (toyline)|Generations]]'' Wheeljack is a retool of [[Transformers (2010 toyline)|''Transformers'']] [[Tracks (G1)#Transformers (2010)|Turbo Tracks]], featuring a new head, wings, clip-on wrenches (that replace the missile launchers), new vehicle mode front fenders and rear spoiler, and a modified transformation sequence (with new legs) so as to present a robot mode reminiscent of the original Wheeljack toy. The rear rotatable flip-out panel and the joint it's mounted on are still there, although the spoiler prevents it from being rotated, while the panel itself now lacks the mounting tabs that were previously there.

: He has a flight mode similar to Tracks', though with the clip-on weapons attached over the wings instead of on the rear of the vehicle. He also retains Tracks' gun, which in reality was Wheeljack's own rocket launcher, and as such, nominally clips onto his shoulder. The gun was slightly redecoed, with the ''entire'' jointed rocket piece being painted over this time, and the C joint clip being a darker shade of gray due to [[gang-molding]] with other parts. With the new retool of his legs, the black inner parts under the car mode hood feature [[C joint|3mm bars]] where you can store Wheeljack's wrenches when not being held, as the clamps of the wrenches are actually C joint clips. Additionally, the wrenches ''themselves'' also have 3mm bars on them, in case Wheeljack should try to make some sort of new gadget. [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] sold separately.

: Though Wheeljack's toy is heavily retooled, his instructions do not reflect this. They depict Wheeljack with his proper head, but most of the rest of the art depicts Tracks' parts, including Tracks' leg transformation. Do not attempt to extend Wheeljack's legs as far as the instruction art shows, because that's some excessive force that's not meant to be applied. The instructions also show the wrenches mounting on the shoulders as weapons, with the shoulder launcher as a hand-held weapon.

: This version of the mold will be retooled into ''[[Timelines (toyline)|Timelines]]'' [[Runamuck (G1)|Runamuck]] and ''Timelines'' [[Runabout (G1)|Runabout]].

:Part of the ''[[United (toyline)|United]]'' toyline, TakaraTomy's version of Wheeljack features some subtle differences from the ''Generations'' version. He now sports silver painted ears, metallic green paint and medium red paint for his stripes, which follow a different pattern, and continue down the back of the car. He no longer has a painted rear window (instead leaving it white with the stripe detailing), features different tail light applications, a silver outlined Autobot symbol (rather than one without a border), painted clear blue eyes, and a more blue-green plastic instead of the slightly brighter green of the Hasbro version.
:United Wheeljack was released before ''Generations'' Wheeljack was released to retail stores, but not to online retailers. Wheeljack's United instructions show the proper transformation. His instructions also leave out the flying car mode, likely due to it being intended originally for Tracks and not Wheeljack.
The figure features a number etched into its back which is the sum total of Wheeljack's [[Tech Spec]] ratings, which served some function in the gameplay the figures were used for.
==Notes==
[[Image:DiacloneWheeljackConcept.jpg|right|300px|thumb|If only...]]
* An early concept design of the ''[[Diaclone]]'' version of Generation 1 Wheeljack was depicted in a catalog from late 1982/early 1983, depicting a considerably better proportioned robot mode with longer legs.
* Wheeljack was given an homage in the form of ''[[Energon (franchise)|Energon]]'' [[Downshift (Energon)|Downshift]]. Downshift has Wheeljack's colors, face, and even feet modeled after the Lancia grill. The character was even called Wheeljack in Japan's ''Super Link'' series, something Hasbro could not do because the name had already been used on [[Wheeljack (Armada)|a character]] from the [[Armada (franchise)|previous series]]. Downshift was later [[redeco]]ed as the [[BotCon 2010]] [[exclusive]] ''[[Timelines (toyline)|Timelines]]'' [[Slicer|Slicer/"Decepticon Slice"]], representing the same character as the [[Generation 1 (European toyline)|European-only Generation 1]] [[Action Master]] Slicer, a redeco of Wheeljack's Action Master toy (while simultaneously representing [[Wheeljack (SG)|another Wheeljack]]).
* ''Energon'' Downshift also received a new-sculpt toy in the ''[[Cybertron (toyline)|Cybertron]]'' line, which looked considerably less like Generation 1 Wheeljack save for the head sculpt... and the ''feet'', which are sculpted after Wheeljack's distinct Lancia Stratos grill feet. Now ''that's'' a weird homage.
* The retool of ''[[Alternators]]'' [[Grimlock (G1)/toys#Alternators|Grimlock]] was originally planned to be [[Windcharger (G1)|Windcharger]] (presumably in red), but ultimately ended up as Wheeljack instead, with a new head sculpt. Meanwhile, the head sculpt originally intended for Ford-Windcharger ended up being used for the retool of ''Alternators'' "Windcharger" (the Honda S2000 mold, designed as [[Overdrive]] and released under that name by Takara) instead, and now named "[[Decepticharge]]".
* ''[[Generations (toyline)|Generations]]'' Wheeljack was the original version of the sculpt, with [[Tracks (G1)|Tracks]] (whose toy ended up in ''[[Reveal the Shield]]'') intended as the retool, but the two were ultimately released in reverse order (and different toy lines). <ref name="generations11">TakaraTomy staff interview in ''[[Transformers Generations 2011]]'' vol. 1, [http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/428825-takaratomy-staff-interview-generations-united.html translation at TFW2005].</ref>
==Fiction==
===''Exiles''===
Wheeljack was a member of the Wreckers. After the [[Great Exodus]], the Autobots remaining on Cybertron encountered the inventor and engineer wandering outside [[Crystal City]]. They took him in, with [[Alpha Trion (WFC)|Alpha Trion]] theorizing that he had escaped from [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]]'s facilities there.

Wheeljack was a member of the [[Wrecker]]s alongside [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]]. He took part in an unnamed battle where he and Bulkhead became surrounded by Decepticons and low on Energon. However, Wheeljack threw a grenade into a smelter, causing it to explode and take out the attackers. He also took part in the Battle of [[Darkmount]] Pass, where he took out a group of Decepticons to get the Wreckers across a smelting pit. When [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] went dark, he began travelling the stars alone in the ''[[Star Hammer]]''.

[[Image:ConJob-Wheeljackface.jpg|left|thumb|200px|This is his head's "make the fans happy" mode.]]
Eventually he reached [[Earth]]'s [[Solar System]] and was hailed by the Autobots stationed there, including Bulkhead. As he was coming in to land at the coordinates provided by [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]], his ship was attacked and shot down by [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicons]]. Wheeljack emerged from the ''Star Hammer'' and proceeded to trash the Decepticons, but was eventually overwhelmed and taken back to the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]'' where he was imprisoned. He was amused to find that [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] was in command of the Decepticons, and almost goaded Starscream into killing him.

[[Image:ConJob-Wheeljackswords.jpg|right|thumb|250px|Wheeljack: determined to make [[Drift (G1)|Drift]] redundant.]]

Though the Autobots welcomed Wheeljack, he revealed that he intended to return to space. He invited Bulkhead along, but Bulkhead was too attached to his friends on Earth to leave. Bulkhead was sure Wheeljack would return someday... {{storylink|Con Job}}

When Miko was trying to stir Bulkhead's memory after he absorbed the data from the [[Cybertronian data cylinder]] she mentioned Wheeljack, and showed Bulkhead the picture she took of them together. Sadly, this did not jog Bulkhead's memory. {{storylink|T.M.I.}}
==Fiction==
===''Exiles''===

Though the Autobots welcomed Wheeljack, he revealed that he intended to return to space. He invited Bulkhead along, but Bulkhead was too attached to his friends on Earth to leave. Bulkhead was sure Wheeljack would return someday... {{storylink|Con Job}}

When Miko was trying to stir Bulkhead's memory after he absorbed the data from the [[Cybertronian data cylinder]] she mentioned Wheeljack, and showed Bulkhead the picture she took of them together. Sadly, this did not jog Bulkhead's memory. {{storylink|T.M.I.}}
In robot mode, Wheeljack can either hold the swords, stow them on his shoulders, or they can be inserted into slots near his wings. : Part of the first wave of "Robots in Disguise" Deluxe Class, Wheeljack transforms into a white race car with red and green markings similar to his [[Wheeljack (G1)|Generation 1 counterpart]]. The vehicle mode is actually the 2011 Lancia New Stratos Concept. Wheeljack comes with two swords which can stow underneath the vehicle or attach under the front bumper to create an attack mode. In robot mode, Wheeljack can either hold the swords, stow them on his shoulders, or they can be inserted into slots near his wings. Surprisingly, there are no Autobot insignias on Wheeljack whatsoever.
* Wheeljack is said to have not taken an [[alternate mode]], but he's clearly got four tires with hubcaps. It's safe to say that when he does get an Earth mode, it'll be a white racing car with green and red stripes, like [[Wheeljack (G1)|somebody we know]].
:''Airachnid is a Decepticon from the [[Transformers: Prime (franchise)| Prime]] portion of the [[Aligned continuity family]].''
[[Image:Airachnid.jpg|thumb|400px|Shelob gave dieting a go after seeing how much weight her director lost.]]

Long ago, '''Airachnid''' was with the [[Decepticon]]s, where her cruel, cold-sparked, murderous demeanor served her well. But after the [[Great Exodus]] of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], she decided to go solo. Nevertheless, she still feels a sort of kinship with her former allies, so if a [[MECH|group of humans]] attempted to disassemble a [[Breakdown (Prime)|Decepticon]], she would take offense to it.

These days, Airachnid spends her time engaging in her new hobby: collecting [[Airachnid's specimens|endangered species]]. Well, parts of endangered species. Mostly the heads.

And if a species ''isn't'' endangered? Oh, they will be. She'll make ''sure'' of that. And she'll make sure it's a slow, painful process.

Following the [[Great Exodus]], Airachnid concluded that the war was over, meaning she needed a new way to spend her time. Abandoning the Decepticons, she decided to hunt sentient species, then wipe them out after getting a trophy. Eventually, Airachnid crash-landed [[Airachnid's ship|her ship]] on [[Earth]]. She initially laid her optics on a lone camper, but was ambushed by Arcee. While Arcee gained the upper hand, she was distracted by her human partner, [[Jack Darby]], and Airachnid webbed her to a rock. Having learned of Cliffjumper's recent demise, Airachnid decided that making Jack her next trophy would be a delicious way to hurt Arcee before finally snuffing out her [[spark]]. She chased Jack back to her ship, but discovered too late that the human had snuck out the underside. She spotted Jack ''just'' in time to see him hurl a flaming stick into a pool of [[energon]] that was leaking from her ship. Airachnid barely managed to escape the explosion, but she was wounded and ''really'' pissed. She managed to web the fleeing Jack to a tree, but before Airachnid could deliver the killing blow, Arcee came to the rescue and absolutely wiped the forest floor with the Decepticon. Deciding she had endured enough for one night, Airachnid drilled into the ground and fled. {{storylink|Predatory}}

[[Image:Crisscross-helicopter.jpg|right|thumb|300px|Finally a use for those helicopter cockpit halves on her shoulders!]]
Learning of [[MECH]]'s treatment of [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]], Airachnid engineered a distress call which lured [[Silas]] to the forest. She made a deal with the MECH agent to give him Arcee – at least, what would be ''left'' of her – if he could deliver Jack to her. Silas used the [[Internet]] to track down information on Jack and have [[June Darby]] kidnapped so Airachnid cocooned her and dangled her from a building in the disused [[Jasper]] factory MECH was occupying. When Jack arrived, Airacnid gave him six minutes to rescue his mother. She followed Jack around the factory and, when he eventually found June and claimed victory, she pointed out the task was to ''rescue'' mom, not just find her. Before Airachnid could start with the dismemberment, Arcee arrived to attack her and the two enemies fought at length around the building's structure. During the fight, Airachnid was thrown into a container and coated with concrete, but managed to get free and web Arcee to the ground. She was about to finish off Arcee when she was attacked by [[William Fowler|Agent Fowler]]'s helicopters, and was forced to [[scanning|scan]] one so she could escape. {{storylink|Crisscross}}

[[Image:MetalAttraction-Airachnidcaptured.jpg|thumb|left|250px|"Breakdown, you have a bug on your... um... windshield?"]]
Airachnid followed a magnetic signal and found [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] with a [[polarity gauntlet]]. Seeking to obtain the weapon, she buried him underground, but he escaped and she was forced to fight him. Then Arcee turned up with a [[Bulkhead (Prime)|new partner for her to snuff]] and she had to fight them as well. When Breakdown activated the gauntlet, she fled in alarm. She later ambushed the 'Con on his way back to the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]'', taking the gauntlet from him and reacting with disdain to his suggestion they could take it back to [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] together. The Autobots caught up with them, and Airachnid used the gauntlet to draw Arcee to her for a little one-on-one fighting. When the battle started to turn sour, however, she grabbed the gauntlet and attempted to flee in her helicopter form. Unfortunately, Bulkhead grabbed her and threw her into Breakdown. Fused magnetically to the 'Con, she was carried back to the ''Nemesis'', where she had no choice but to rejoin the Decepticons. {{storylink|Metal Attraction}}

[[Image:Partners-Immobilizer.jpg|thumb|250px|"Even shinier than the [[Polarity gauntlet]]!"]]
Immediately ingratiating herself with Megatron, Airachnid told the Decepticon leader that Starscream had been keeping information to himself, such as the location of the crashed Decepticon ship, the ''[[Harbinger]]''. Megatron ordered Starscream to take Airachnid to the ship's crash site and secure the experimental weapon it contained. Once there, Airachnid discovered that the half of the ship containing the [[Immobilizer]] had broken off before impact. She webbed up Starscream and forced him to tell her the location of the aft section, but was attacked by the Autobots while leaving. After a brief fight with Arcee, Airachnid was chased off by [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]], and instead went to find the ''Harbinger''<nowiki>'s</nowiki> aft. She quickly located it and retrieved the Immobilizer, then lay in wait as Optimus's team approached the ship. She was able to freeze Bulkhead and Optimus, but some deft trickery by Bumblebee allowed him to sneak up on her and destroy the Immobilizer. She retreated back to the ''Nemesis'' where she tried to blame the loss of the Immobilizer on Starscream as well as explain why she left him behind. Unluckily for her, an enraged Megatron roared that by allowing the Decepticon second-in-command to be taken prisoner, she'd just put all Decepticon intelligence at the fingertips of the Autobots. {{storylink|Partners}}

Despite this, she was promoted to Second in Command during Starscream's absence. {{storylink|One Shall Fall}}

Breakdown seemed to have developed a crush on Airachnid. {{storylink|Stronger, Faster}}

[[Image:Tfprime Airachnid thoughts of betrayal.jpg|thumb|250px|left|Who needs Starscream?]]
When the Decepticons located the last part they needed for their space bridge in a human installation, Airachnid suggested she could burrow up under it, but Megatron announced that the time for stealth was past, so she didn't. Once they secured the power source they needed, Airachnid and Knock Out observed Megatron acting strangely and wondered if their leader was losing it. {{storylink|One Shall Fall}} While the [[Decepticon Miner|miners]] gathered up [[Dark Energon]], Airachnid hung out on the bridge and watched as [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] played back [[Unicron]]'s pulse. She reported to Megatron that the hold was full, and they should think about retreating. He responded by leaving her in charge while he went to go and talk to Unicron. {{storylink|One Shall Rise, Part 1}} Airachnid returned the ''Nemesis'' to orbit to wait. When no further word came from Megatron, she told Soundwave that Megatron might not be coming back. {{storylink|One Shall Rise, Part 2}}

[[Image:OneShallRise3-SoundwaveAirachnid.jpg|right|thumb|250px|''Round One. FIGHT!!!'']]
When she called the ''Nemesis''<nowiki>'</nowiki> crew to the bridge, she had deduced that Megatron, either deceased or deep within Unicron, had abandoned them, and with Earth falling into chaos, decided that they should relocate to [[Regulon Four]]. As none of the other Decepticons spoke out against her, Airachnid ordered Soundwave to set the ''Nemesis'' on course, however the silent Decepticon refused to comply. She attempted to assert her leadership by attacking him, only to discover that she was no match for Soundwave and his Minicon [[Laserbeak (Prime)|Laserbeak]]. The pair double-teamed her, and she was forced to yield when held underfoot. She subsequently decided to be elsewhere when Megatron did return. {{storylink|One Shall Rise, Part 3}}

Airachnid was soon back as Megatron's subordinate, though she expressed her concern about the amnesiac Optimus Prime being allowed full run of the ship. When Arcee sneaked on board The Nemesis to find Optimus, Airachnid readily volunteered to go and deal with her, even offering to offline The Autobot. However, Megatron felt that the situation needed to be dealt with more subtly, so he sent Soundwave instead. {{storylink|Orion Pax, Part 1}}
* Airachnid went her entire introductory episode without transforming into a true [[alternate mode]], only from biped-mode to spider-legs mode and back. This is due to her not scanning an alternate mode until "[[Crisscross]]".
* The said alternate mode doesn't really make sense: Airachnid scanned Agent Fowler's Bell 212 Huey helicopter, but she somehow ended up with a stealth helicopter alt-mode.
* The existence of the name "Airachnid" was first revealed when Hasbro filed an intent-to-use [http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=77892423 trademark application] for the term with the US Trademark and Patent Office. Evac's first important mission on [[Earth]] began at a NEST base at [[Universal Studios]], where he was assigned to transport [[you]], your fellow trainees, and the last remaining shard of the AllSpark. Unfortunately, before he could get underway, [[Ravage (ROTF)|Ravage]] broke into the base and attempted to steal the shard. [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] was able to fight the [[Decepticon]] off and get the shard to Evac, who (along with his passengers) blasted free of the base and out into the city streets. With the help of [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Sideswipe (Movie)|Sideswipe]], Evac survived a gauntlet of Decepticons including [[Grindor (ROTF)|Grindor]], [[Sideways (ROTF)|Sideways]], [[Bonecrusher (Movie)|Bonecrusher]] and even the gargantuan [[Devastator (ROTF)|Devastator]].

Unfortunately, his escape from Devastator left him in the clutches of [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]]. Escaping with the aid of NEST helicopters, Evac attempted to help Optimus defeat Megatron high atop a building, but the two were ultimately forced to sacrifice the AllSpark shard to win, with Evac driving it into his enemy's chest and sending his lifeless body to the streets below. {{storylink|Transformers: The Ride}}
