Unbeknownst to them, several strange, mechanical creatures observe the intruders into their dark domain.

Back at [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|base]], [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] and the [[human]]s watch a report that outlines how the planet's chaotic weather continues to spiral out of control. Despite [[June Darby|June]]'s efforts to lighten the mood, [[William Fowler|Fowler]] insists that something must be done—even if it means contacting his associates at the [[Pentagon]]. Fowler makes known his uneasiness about teaming up with Megatron, but Ratchet surprises the humans by explaining how such a situation has happened before. Ratchet relates how Optimus Prime and Megatron were once close friends, in the twilight hours of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]'s [[Golden Age]].

He became inspired by the revolutionary words of Megatronus, a gladiator who took his name from [[The Fallen|one]] of the [[Thirteen|thirteen original Primes]]. Megatronus gained a loyal following through his radical and innovative actions, [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] chief among their number. Over time, Megatronus became a mentor figure to Orion Pax and chose to shorten his name as he left the gladiatorial arena for the political one. In the present, [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] and [[Jack Darby|Jack]] question Optimus's plan to give the Matrix to the Earth's core, asking what could possibly stop Megatron from attempting to claim it for himself now. Ratchet darkly replies that Megatron only intends to save the Earth so that he may conquer it at a later date.

As they near Unicron's spark, [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] begins to feel the draining effects of the [[Dark Energon]]. [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] and Arcee help him a short way across the catwalks, but Megatron soon comes to a halt ahead with the realization that Unicron is preparing to expel them. A huge number of Unicron's drones suddenly swarm into view, surrounding Megatron and the Autobots. They engage the drones in fierce battle, blasting and slashing through their attackers. Arcee is knocked to a lower level, not long before the Dark Energon clouds Bulkhead's vision. He stumbles from the catwalk but manages to grab hold of the edge, and is seized by Bumblebee before he can tumble to his death. Optimus and Megatron fight back-to-back, managing to hold their own against the drones in a spectacular display of effective—if uneasy—teamwork. Bumblebee struggles to hold onto Bulkhead, who insists that the scout lets him go. Optimus seizes Bulkhead just as Bumblebee loses his grip, and hauls him up to safety. As the group quickly becomes overwhelmed, Arcee hitches a ride on one of the drones to catch up with the others and beat a swift retreat with them.

Aboard the [[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]], [[Airachnid]] outlines the questionable nature of their leader's recent behavior. [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] asks whether she is suggesting that they abandon Lord Megatron. Airachnid explains how Megatron's undetectable signal implies that he is either offline or at the mercy of Unicron—neither scenario being in the best interests of the Decepticons. She suggests an exodus from Earth, and receives no protests from the surrounding [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicons]]. However, her order to retreat to [[Regulon Four]] is denied by Soundwave, who silently challenges her authority. When he refuses her demand to step aside, she leaps to attack him. Soundwave easily blocks every one of her blows, before lifting her clean into the air. He hurls her back, deploying [[Laserbeak (Prime)|Laserbeak]] to stun Airachnid in a sudden sneak attack. Pinned under Soundwave's foot, much to Knock Out's amusement, Airachnid relinquishes command to the intelligence officer.

Back in the Autobot base, Ratchet notes he has lost the others' communication links and life signals, most likely caused by interference from the electromagnetic anomalies. Miko asks how they are supposed to know when the others are ready for pickup if contact is impossible, but Ratchet is prevented from responding by the sound of Jack tapping the [[GroundBridge]] key against a railing. Ratchet reveals that the object is actually the [[Key to Vector Sigma]]—one of Cybertron's most precious relics. Ratchet then realizes that Optimus entrusted the key to Jack because he did not plan on returning from the planet's core.

Megatron is gripped by yet another painful vision of Unicron whilst he and the Autobots are backed into an enclosed chamber by the attacking drones. Unicron orders him to destroy Optimus. Instead, Megatron saves the Autobot leader by blasting an oncoming drone. He then indicates a closed doorway nearby, stating that Unicron's spark lies just beyond. He explains that, to pass through, they must fool Unicron into believing that they pose no danger, and moves his Dark Energon-infused chest up to the door. It opens in response, and Optimus orders the others to remain outside and provide cover fire while he and Megatron advance.

The passageway beyond leads directly into Unicron's spark chamber, where Optimus prepares to expose the Matrix within his chest. Unicron's spark reacts, striking both invaders with its energy. Unicron again orders Megatron to kill Optimus, forcing him to unsheathe his blade and approach the weakened Prime. Megatron struggles against him, declaring himself to be under the command of no-one. His resistance provokes only an onslaught of pain and a furious reaction from the Chaos Bringer.

The volcano outside erupts violently, and the ground enclosing the Autobot base begins to quake. Ratchet tells the humans to take cover, and he moves to shield them from falling debris.

Unicron's spark adopts the appearance of a face as Megatron is seemingly freed from his control. Optimus calls upon the power of the Matrix of Leadership, but hesitates as Unicron possesses Megatron's body in a veil of purple flame and declares his own invincibility. Optimus cuts short Unicron's desire to pull the Earth into chaos, and he rises to his feet as he becomes surrounded by a brilliant blue light. Optimus fires the power of the Matrix from his chest directly into Unicron's spark, the resulting wave of energy knocking Megatron back off his feet. His energy drained, Optimus falls to his knees, and Unicron's spark emits a final wail of pain before vanishing into oblivion.

The drones outside suddenly fall from the air, lifeless. The volcano, along with all of the Earth's other natural phenomena, subside back to normality. Ratchet and the humans watch as the monitors flicker online, rejoicing as their team's life signals are all safely re-established. Aboard the Nemesis, however, Soundwave also detects the signature of the Decepticon leader.

Megatron rights himself in Unicron's now-empty spark chamber, inspecting Optimus's steaming body for a moment before unsheathing his blade. Optimus gazes blearily up at the approaching Decepticon, then addresses him as "Megatronus" and asks where they are. Surprised, Megatron retracts his weapon and helps the Autobot to his feet. Bumblebee, Bulkhead and Arcee soon burst through the wall to assist, but Optimus does not recognise them. A GroundBridge suddenly opens nearby; Megatron claims that the Autobots are their sworn enemies and provides cover fire as Optimus heads for the vortex. Optimus blankly meets Bumblebee's devastated gaze for a split second before disappearing through the Bridge. Megatron follows, leaving the shocked Autobots alone in the empty chamber.

Ratchet GroundBridges the team back to base, but is anxious to see that Optimus is not with them. They explain that Optimus is still alive, but did not even know his own name. Ratchet realizes that surrendering the Matrix of Leadership caused their leader to lose not only the wisdom of the Primes, but his own memories as well.

Knock Out and the other Decepticons, minus Airachnid, welcome Megatron back aboard the Nemesis. Megatron steps aside to allow Optimus through, and [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] automatically moves to attack. Megatron halts him, insisting that this is no way to treat a "long-lost comrade", and declares that Orion Pax is one of them.

*All of the natural disasters around the world abruptly stop when Unicron is beaten. While it might make sense for the earthquakes to stop, tidal waves wouldn't just suddenly fall apart. Forward momentum doesn't just vanish. Similar problems occur with the tornadoes dissipating and the sky clearing.
*At the Earth's core, the Autobots should experience very little gravity, as the total mass of Earth would be reasonably equally distributed around them and therefore the pull of gravity would be cancelled out.
*Despite entering the tunnel to Unicron's spark chamber only a few seconds before Optimus, Megatron still manages a very hefty lead. By the time Optimus navigates the tunnel that leads into the spark chamber, Megatron is already inside, standing in front of Unicron's spark.

Optimus gazes blearily up at the approaching Decepticon, then addresses him as "Megatronus" and asks where they are. Surprised, Megatron retracts his weapon and helps the Autobot to his feet. Bumblebee, Bulkhead and Arcee soon burst through the wall to assist, but Optimus does not recognise them. A GroundBridge suddenly opens nearby; Megatron claims that the Autobots are their sworn enemies and provides cover fire as Optimus heads for the vortex. Optimus blankly meets Bumblebee's devastated gaze for a split second before disappearing through the Bridge. Megatron follows, leaving the shocked Autobots alone in the empty chamber.

Ratchet GroundBridges the team back to base, but is anxious to see that Optimus is not with them. They explain that Optimus is still alive, but did not even know his own name. Ratchet realizes that surrendering the Matrix of Leadership caused their leader to lose not only the wisdom of the Primes, but his own memories as well.

Knock Out and the other Decepticons, minus Airachnid, welcome Megatron back aboard the Nemesis. Megatron steps aside to allow Optimus through, and [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] automatically moves to attack. Megatron halts him, insisting that this is no way to treat a "long-lost comrade", and declares that Orion Pax is one of them.

Despite the other [[Autobot]]s' lack of faith, [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] realizes that the "world forged of chaos" referred to in the prophecy is [[Earth]]—and that the alignment will occur in a matter of days.

Aboard the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]'', [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] explains to [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] that he sought the [[Dark Energon|blood]] of [[Unicron]] so that he could conquer worlds with [[Terrorcon (Prime)|undead armies]]. Knock Out assures him that more Dark Energon awaits amongst the stars, but advises him not to push himself, since he was in stasis. Megatron then claims that he is the "rising darkness" of which the prophecy speaks.

[[Jack Darby|Jack]], [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]], and [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] find a picture of [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] while searching a conspiracy website. Raf replaces the image with a dancing cat, which makes Ratchet laugh. Jack then invites Optimus to take a look, but is flatly denied. Ratchet then states that, before he became a [[Prime (rank)|Prime]], Optimus behaved quite similarly to Jack. [[William Fowler|Agent Fowler]] suddenly interrupts and reveals that the [[Decepticon]]s have been stealing components to build a second [[space bridge]]. Back aboard the ''Nemesis'', Knock Out and [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] inform Megatron that the only item left on the list is an ample power source, which can be found in a heavily fortified human base. [[Airachnid]] could simply tunnel in, but Megatron rather angrily declares that the time for stealth is over, and he sends a massive squad of [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicons]] to retrieve it. Optimus warns Fowler to have his troops evacuate, for fear of human casualties.

Optimus, [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]], and [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] arrive to fend off the Vehicons, and all goes well until Megatron himself heads out toward the battlefield. En route, he spots Bumblebee, who was taking Raf racing. Megatron opens fire, frying Bumblebee's systems and knocking Raf out cold. Megatron arrives at the base just as the Autobots disable the last of his drones, and he taunts Optimus as Bumblebee arrives whilst carrying a wounded Raf. Bulkhead restrains the enraged scout before Optimus orders Arcee to take him and Raf back to base. Megatron then ascends onto the ''Nemesis'' with the power source. Unbeknownst to Megatron, Optimus and Bulkhead climb aboard the ''Nemesis''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s hull.

Back at [[Autobot Outpost Omega One]], Ratchet panics that his tools are wrong for human examination, and Jack suggests that they call in [[June Darby|his mother]]. Meanwhile, Megatron has another vision in which he sees a [[Unicron|sinister face]] and a volcano. He then orders Knock Out and Airachnid to complete the space bridge, as there is something he must attend to. June arrives at the Autobot base and quickly unnerves Ratchet with the knowledge that Raf will die unless she can stabilize him immediately. Bumblebee vents his frustration on a nearby wall, but Arcee manages to calm him...a little. Ratchet regrets having not bothered to learn human science and medicine, despite accepting the children into their lives. He then states that he has grown to need Rafael, just as Raf needs him.

Bulkhead and Optimus storm the ''Nemesis'', and Optimus claims to have had a change of heart: He orders Bulkhead back to base with the power source, declaring that there is something he must do. He then muses grimly that he has realized that Autobots and Decepticons will never co-exist peacefully, and he vows to destroy Megatron.

As the planetary alignment nears, Megatron arrives at the volcano site, and Optimus uses a Vehicon comm link to challenge him. Optimus soon joins him at the base of the volcano, and the two exchange brief banter before engaging each other in fierce battle.

Meanwhile, Ratchet realizes that Raf has been infected with [[Dark Energon]] and theorizes that exposure to normal energon should cure him. He takes a sample from Bumblebee, placing Raf in a sealed chamber to test his theory as the others watch helplessly. Rafael soon opens his eyes, his pulse stabilizing.

Optimus appears to defeat Megatron and prepares to deal the final blow, but the Decepticon leader catches his sword with unusual strength as the volcano begins to erupt. Strange purple markings glow to life across his body, and he quickly overpowers Optimus. He realizes that the volcano is spewing forth Dark Energon, and he moves to kill Optimus, as he saw himself doing in a previous vision.

On a similar note, Bumblebee should have taken the brunt of the Dark Energon exposure, but only Raf shows any symptoms. Arcee was weakened by exposure to a few drops from [[Cliffjumper (Prime)|Cliffjumper]]'s animated corpse in "[[Darkness Rising, Part 2]]". However, Optimus tells Arcee to look after Raf AND Bumblebee; its likely that Bee's just being strong for his partner's sake.

With Grimlock and Blurr, Wheelie listened to Kup, 
As he yammered on and on and refused to shut up. 
His story was about the [[Ick-Yak]]s on [[Dread (planet)|Dread]], 
But when Grimlock mentioned [[Chaos (alien)|Chaos]], Kup lost his head!

When zombie Optimus Prime came under [[Quintesson]] control, 
Destruction of the Autobots became his primary goal! 
He tricked Wheelie and others into a terrible trap 
Full of missiles and explosions to turn them to scrap! 
But Wheelie survived when [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] returned 
And left the zombie Optimus behind to be burned.

Not long after that, with no assignment or mission, 
Wheelie volunteered for a fun competition. 
But the timestream was getting all out of place, 
And Wheelie got stuck in an unending race!

On Earth Wheelie witnessed crimes that were weird, 
As multiple landmarks just disappeared! 
The Dinobots were suspected, but he didn't buy the hype, 
Because the true criminal was an [[Abdul Fakkadi (G1)|ethnic stereotype]]!

In his biggest adventure, Wheelie searched for a way,

He knew finding the truth would be kind of tricky, 
So he went and paired up with Daniel Witwicky. 

Their search led them straight to a storage asteroid, 
Being spied on by [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] (how paranoid!). 
Cyclonus took them hostage and made his demands, 
But Magnus wouldn't leave them in villainous hands! 

When Magnus arrived, he charged straight at his foe, 
But as they went at it, little did they know, 
That Wheelie snuck past them and pressed the self-destruct, 
Which meant if they lingered their deathbeds would be tucked! 

So Cyclonus retreated as the asteroid blew up, 
And Magnus saved the kids from their monumental screw up! 
As it turned out, Magnus didn't know his own birthday, 
So their entire adventure was pointless, anyway.

With other Autobots, Wheelie found [[Paradron]], 
A utopian planet that [[Sandstorm (G1)|Sandstorm]] lived on! 
Galvatron tried to take it and make it his base, 
But gave up when Ultra Magnus blew up the place.

On another adventure, Wheelie didn't do much, 
But fill out the crowds, standing around and such.

Luckily for Wheelie, Tornedron was defeated, 
And his life was restored, death successfully cheated!

Though he was an expert pilot who could get them there fast,

Cyclonus was challenged to battle by Hot Rod (so brave), 
But Cyclonus's power almost banished him to his grave! 
Kup then requested help and Wheelie replied 
By talking to some friends who he knew were on his side. 
To make their ship visible was what Kup had asked, 
So [[Grapple]] and <strike>[[Warpath (G1)|Warpath]]</strike> [[Tracks (G1)|Tracks]] did so... ''and fast''! 
When Hot Rod began winning, Cyclonus became a goner 
He admitted this act was one without honor. 
They at last made it to Junkion and found all their friends.

He hung out with [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel]], and the two were quite danger-prone. 

While chilling on [[Earth]], the pair were met with surprise 
By the titanic Trypticon with glowing death in his eyes! 
The Decepticon gave chase, but Wheelie outsmarted their foe, 
Luring him onto a busted bridge, where he slipped and fell below. 

They then stowed away on the [[Trainbot]]s and returned to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], 
To help battle the Decepticons with their (limited) brawn. 
Daniel, the wuss, was soon attacked by [[Tantrum]],

Before leaving with [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] to face matters unpleasant, 
[[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] bequeathed to Wheelie a very special present.

As Hot Rod searched Earth for the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]] he'd lost, 
[[Kup (G1)|Kup]] told Wheelie to believe in him, no matter the cost.

And was acting all snarky, at least up until he 
Was interrupted by [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress]], who had a better attitude, 
So he offered to help instead of standing 'round being rude. 
Wheelie, however, couldn't help them one whit, 
So he went to an arcade with Daniel to complain about it. 
He thought himself far more useful than the adults all around him,

Next, Blaster's untimely death sent Wheelie into depression. 
"No one cares Blaster's gone" was his bitter impression. 
But Wheelie was wrong; Rodimus Prime cared quite a bit.

So Blaster was revived as Twincast, much to Wheelie's elation,

But were imprisoned ''themselves'' in the dungeon-like caves! 
Luckily for Wheelie, the Headmasters were there.

The meteorite [[Metamorphose]] then threatened Autobot space, 
By warping anything metal in its magnetic embrace! 
Only ''Daniel'' was safe. Only ''he'' could defeat it.

But Daniel was a crybaby, a big blubbering sack, 
So Wheelie chided his buddy and cut him no slack. 
Daniel ''eventually'' manned up and blew up the rock,

The Trainbots later invited both Wheelie and Dan 
To come visit their birthplace in far-off [[Japan]]. 
Soon after arriving, [[Sixshot]] made some trouble,

While Dan and Wheelie went shopping and...well, ''dammit'', 
The Trainbots shopped ''with'' them, and [[Chromedome (G1)|Chromedome]] made a fuss,

Wheelie later observed as the Autobots fought, 
To reach [[Vector Sigma]] first, for if they could not, 
The Decepticons would get there, and then there'd be trouble,

But they were wrong—[[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] had a more menacing scheme: 
To blow up all of Cybertron! How terribly obscene! 
The bombs could not be removed, much to Wheelie's frustration, 
Leaving Rodimus to call for the planet's evacuation. 
And so Wheelie was forced to watch his planet go KER-PEW! 
Poor little guy...his day kind of ''blew''. 
Rodimus then departed on an outer space quest,

Along with Daniel and Spike, Wheelie went to Peru 
To prevent the members of the Decepticon crew 
From making a volcano blow up sky-high, 
Leaving the villagers below to helplessly fry.

But he couldn't beat the heat, no matter how hard he tried! 
So Wheelie tried once again, this time with the Trainbots, 
But the heat drove ''them'' off too, just like they were lame-bots! 
With no options left, they evacuated the town,

On Athenia, Daniel was planting some seeds 
And began watering them to tend to their needs. 
As Wheelie observed this dull gardening show, 
He was shocked when he saw [[buridanka|the plant]] starting to grow! 
The plant was a creature from the world of [[Darhos]] 
That could grow to great heights, turning slimy and gross!

Wheelie and Daniel called to Spike for some aid. 
Spike then looked to Arcee (since she was their maid). 
But they could do nothing, and the plant ''almost'' trashed their base,

When Wheelie and Daniel went to [[Mars (planet)|Mars]] on a geological mission, 
They found that the red planet was in perilous condition! 
Scorponok had planted bombs near the planet's core, 
And once they went off, Mars would then be no more! 
Then the pair were attacked by the [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcon]] [[Rippersnapper (G1)|Rippersnapper]], 
Who easily abducted the duo of lame whippersnappers! 

Imprisoned deep underground in a series of caves, 
Daniel concocted a scheme to trick the foul knaves. 
He staged an argument with Wheelie and even a fake brawl, 
Which let him secretly send an Autobot distress call! 
The Headmasters then arrived and rescued the youths, 
But could not find the time bombs. (What terrible sleuths!) {{storylink|Explosion on Mars!! Maximus Is in Danger}}

Returned to Athenia, Wheelie looked on in fright, 
Praying Fortress would survive his terrible fight! 
When they found that their leader had been injured severely, 
Wheelie swore to the skies that the Decepticons would pay dearly! 
But Wheelie's swearing and screeching couldn't stop what was fated; 
Mars was blown into bits and [[Scorponok (G1)|Mega Zarak]] was created. {{storylink|Explosion on Mars!! MegaZarak Appears}}

With the threat of Mega Zarak now looming ahead, 
Wheelie admitted to Daniel his feelings of dread. 
But Daniel wouldn't hear it; he knew Fortress was stronger, 
He'd had enough of Wheelie's crap, and he'd take it no longer. 
So with inhuman strength (and overreacting a bit), 
He shoved Wheelie into a lake after throwing a fit. 

Before Wheelie could crush him with his mighty robot fist, 
A flying saucer zoomed past. (Oh my gawd, aliens ''do'' exist!) 
Daniel thought that the alien might be friend and not foe, 
So he tried to use a keyboard to communicate with it and, ''whoah'', 
Daniel was completely wrong—about as wrong as you can ''get''. 
The alien was ''[[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]]''. (He was off by more than a bit.) 
Humiliated by his actions, Daniel started to weep, 
Leaving Wheelie no choice but to soothe the little creep. {{storylink|Return of the Immortal Emperor}}

When the planet called [[Sandra (planet)|Sandra]] sent an SOS into space, 
Asking for [[Energon cube]]s to save their dying race, 
The Autobots, always kindly, agreed to give them their aid, 
And Wheelie and Daniel tagged along to see the delivery made. 
Then the Decepticons attacked! But Spike ''knew'' that they would, 
And he set up a small cargo ship just so that they could 
Slip away in the battle and deliver the cubes. 
Wheelie and Daniel laughed out loud at the Decepticon rubes. 
And so the cargo was delivered and Sandra was saved!

He revealed unto Wheelie that they used to be friends,

Wheelie and the Autobots then found themselves stuck in a race 
To prevent the Decepticons from plundering space. 
The planet of [[Hive (planet)|Hive]] was the villains' first victim, 
But they were thwarted when the Autobots arrived to evict 'em. {{storylink|Fight to the Death on Planet Hive!!}}

As for the twin planets of [[Twin Star|Sperity and Toruin]] , 
Galvatron planned to ransack them and bring them to ruin. 
As Sperity was attacked for its huge energy stash, 
Wheelie was sent to Toruin before he could do anything rash. 

And on that barren planet Wheelie made a find: 
The people of Sperity had left their old planet behind! 
They had taken their energon far away from there, 
Which is why Galvatron couldn't find it anywhere! 
Eventually, Galvatron was forced to just call it quits, 
And the Autobots left the Speritans to start over in the pits. {{storylink|Battle for Defense of the False Planet}}

At ''[[Video Challenger]]'', Daniel proved very skilled, 
But Wheelie's reaction to him was a little less thrilled. 
So he challenged the kid to shoot an apple that he held up, 
But Daniel shot his ''arm'' instead when his aim got fouled up. 

A penal colony on [[Daros]] was their next landing point, 
So they could rescue some war criminals being slaughtered in the joint. 
One of the criminals, though, tried to cut Daniel's neck, 
And Wheelie was helpless to stop him, but hey, ''what the heck''. 
As it turns out, the criminal wasn't really ''that'' bad, 
And when he let Daniel go, no one ''really'' got mad. 
He gave information that helped them unravel a serious knot 
And let them defeat MegaZarak. (Though they hadn't found his weak spot.) {{storylink|Find MegaZarak's Weak Spot!!}}

Where they were plundering energy and doing things not-so-nice! 
So with the Headmasters setting out to solve their enemy's tests, 
Daniel and Wheelie met [[Papika]] and her voluptuous... ''face''. 
Wheelie was smitten quite quickly, and his eyes glowed deep red. 
It's best not to imagine the thoughts that went through ''his'' head. 

After learning to fish, Wheelie tried his best to impress her 
By transforming into a car, but his skills proved the lesser 
When compared to Papika's; she could talk to beasts large and small, 
Making it clear that Wheelie couldn't impress her ''at all''. 
Later, the Headmasters won the day, just like they always did, 
And Wheelie gave up on Papika. (She was out of your league, kid.) {{storylink|Head Formation of Friendship}}

On their travels, the Decepticons proved formidable foes, 
Having stolen energy from six planets. Why? ''Lord only knows''. 
Approaching [[Pirate Planet]], Wheelie spotted something quite freaky: 
An old space pirate ship that was battered, damaged and leaky. 
And then an awesome adventure immediately began 
Involving pirates! And pyramids! Treasure! [[Clone (subgroup)|Clones]]! And...''aw, man''. 
Wheelie sat the whole thing out, letting Daniel have all the fun. 
Of all the adventures to miss, he had to skip out on ''that'' one? {{storylink|Mystery of the Space Pirate Ship}}

As [[Highbrow (G1)|Highbrow]] struggled in vain to crack Scorponok's secret code, 
Daniel and Wheelie tried to help him cross that long, bumpy road. 
Unfortunately, their "help" proved far too insufficient, 
And they had to start over from scratch (not very efficient). 
Then Sixshot attacked and blew [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] into bits, 
And Wheelie attended his funeral between crying fits. {{storylink|Ultra Magnus Dies!!}}

From the Athenia base, Wheelie watched Spike blow his top; 
The 'Cons were ransacking Earth and weren't going to stop! 
They were blaming Chromedome for the team's lack of success, 
But Arcee told them to chill and to give it a rest. {{storylink|The Emperor of Destruction Vanishes on an Iceberg}}

On a mission to Earth, Chromedome had just one simple job, 
To keep Spike from getting killed, but that big robotic knob 
Screwed it all up and Spike went into intensive care. 
Daniel forgave Chromedome, but Wheelie wouldn't let it end there. 
Chromedome tried to say sorry, but Wheelie said it wasn't enough. 
Even by ''Wheelie's'' standards, he was treating Chromedome pretty rough. 

As Spike recovered from surgery, Wheelie was then put to work, 
Helping to find Mega Zarak's weakspot for Chromedome (that ''jerk''). 
After tens of minutes of labor, they all figured it out: 
The weakspot was on his chest beyond all shadow of a doubt! {{storylink|I Risk My Life for Earth}}

With the Decepticons banished from Earth, the Autobots needed aid 
In gathering [[Plasma energy]] bombs so the humans would not be afraid. 
To accomplish this goal, Wheelie offered to call on friends that he knew, 
But Daniel laughed in his face! Wheelie was friendless and a ''fibber'', too! 

Then much to Daniel's surprise, Wheelie proved him totally wrong, 
When his good "friends" [[Pointblank]], [[Crosshairs (G1)|Crosshairs]] and [[Sureshot (G1)|Sureshot]] came along! 
Those Autobots were great warriors! Daniel was very impressed! 
But at being called Wheelie's "friends" the trio became very distressed. 
As it turns out, they ''weren't'' his "friends"; Wheelie was an absolute liar! 
They were his superior officers! His robo-pants were on fire! {{storylink|Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 1)}}

With Wheelie's good "friends" now turned into powerful [[Targetmaster]]s, 
The veterens began insulting the obsolete Headmasters. 
In front of Daniel and Wheelie, Pointblank came down on Chromedome, 
Who feared the after effects of the disrespect he was shown. 
But Daniel and Wheelie didn't respect Chromedome any less 
(If they respected him ''at all'' is, well, ''anyone's'' guess). {{storylink|Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 2)}}

While set down on planet Master, Wheelie became full of himself, 
Vowing to become a Headmaster by improving fitness and health. 
Daniel rolled his eyes and laughed out loud; Wheelie's dreams were too silly. 
Wheelie told Daniel he could ''never'' be one; he was too fleshy and frilly. 
Very early the next morning, Wheelie snuck outside for a run, 
Only to be captured by Sixshot, whose evil scheme had begun! 

Sixshot threatened to dip Wheelie in acid if Fortress didn't agree 
To give up the [[Master Sword]]'s secrets and to do it quickly! 
Pointblank coldly suggested they just let Wheelie melt and die, 
But Daniel and Chromedome disagreed! They'd save the little guy! 
Going against orders, the pair snuck inside of Scorponok, 
With Daniel using his size to sneak past the energy locks. 

They got Wheelie out safely, but alas, their rescue was too late. 
Fortress had just handed over his secrets! Well, ain't that just ''great''? 
Furious at the trio for leaving the ship without orders, 
He gave them a mop and a bucket and said to wash ''all'' the quarters. {{storylink|The Master Sword Is in Danger!!}}

Thanks to Wheelie's epic failure, the Decepticons took what they stole 
And began construction of the [[Zarak Shield]] as their ultimate goal. 
As the Headmasters traversed Master to thwart the sinister plan, 
Wheelie stood ontop of Battleship Maximus, hanging with Dan. 
They were startled by [[Weirdwolf]], who had concocted a plan all his own, 
He'd set bombs on the ship and didn't want their cover to be blown! 
Weirdwolf's plan was a success; the bombs completely ruined the ship

While [[Raiden]] and [[Defensor (G1)|Defensor]] worked double-time on repairs, 
Wheelie and Dan found themselves useless to help with such affairs. 
As the grown-ups worked diligently to create tactics and plans,

With the Maximus repaired, the Autobots set off into space 
After Mega Zarak whom they ''once again'' had to chase. 
In an effort to kill time, Wheelie had his ''greatest'' idea yet: 
He and Daniel would see what it was like inside a laser turret! 
Then the turret was damaged with Daniel still stuck inside, 
And jettisoned away from the ship; Wheelie just about ''cried''. 
Daniel made it back (with Sixshot's help), much to Wheelie's relief; 
If he had caused Daniel's death, Wheelie would have been crippled with grief! {{storylink|My Friend Sixshot!}}

Sixshot may have saved Daniel, but he was still no Autobot friend 
And challenged Chromedome to a duel where he'd surely meet his end. 
Wheelie, that eavesdropping punk, heard about the whole situation

Because of that stupid duel, Mega Zarak made it to Earth first, 
Once again, it was ''all'' Chromedome's fault (that guy is really the ''worst''). 
Daniel was busy pouting, thinking Sixshot had died in the fight. 
Wheelie teased the brat, anyway (never one to pass on a slight). 
They eventually reached Earth, but tragedy wasn't far behind: 
Spike's plane crashed down in the Andes and they were all in a bind! 
Wheelie followed his good buddy, who had to rescue his mother,

Wheelie and Daniel were left with only goodbyes to say. 
Wheelie promised to visit Daniel again when he was older,

Ratchet hits the on button, and Bulkhead, [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] and [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] proceed to go up against automated turrets. Bulkhead hits on the idea of simply smashing everything. Unfortunately in doing so he encounters something not in the original spec—a short-range nuclear ballistic missile which is now counting down ominously. If that's not bad enough [[Jack Darby|Jack]] and [[Miko Nakadai|Mika]] alert them to another threat: a group of [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicons]] have mistaken the missile's energy signature for [[energon]] and are incoming.

While [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus]], Bumblebee and Arcee head out to deal with the 'Cons, Bulkhead holds the roof up so Ratchet and Raf can work on disabling the bomb. Outside, the three Autobots wade into the incoming Decepticons and swiftly dispatch them. Inside, Raf momentarily panics, causing Mika to point out that their time is short. After a moment's thought, Raf reprograms the timer to count upwards instead of downwards, giving them a lot more time to defuse it.

Bulkhead is ready to go bash some 'Cons, but Arcee tells him that's already dealt with. [[William Fowler|Agent Fowler]], having been alerted by the missile's automatic tracking device, turns up with a team of scientists to defuse the bomb. Prime, believing that the bomb was placed there as a failsafe in case the Autobots ever turned on the humans, firmly tells them to take it with them when they leave. Later on, Ratchet suggests that Raf helps with the redesign of the "Safe".

Ratchet hits the on button, and Bulkhead, [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] and [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] proceed to go up against automated turrets. Bulkhead hits on the idea of simply smashing everything. Unfortunately in doing so he encounters something not in the original spec—a short-range nuclear ballistic missile which is now counting down ominously. If that's not bad enough [[Jack Darby|Jack]] and [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] alert them to another threat: a group of [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicons]] have mistaken the missile's energy signature for [[energon]] and are incoming.

While [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus]], Bumblebee and Arcee head out to deal with the 'Cons, Bulkhead holds the roof up so Ratchet and Raf can work on disabling the bomb. Outside, the three Autobots wade into the incoming Decepticons and swiftly dispatch them. Inside, Raf momentarily panics, causing Miko to point out that their time is short. After a moment's thought, Raf reprograms the timer to count upwards instead of downwards, giving them a lot more time to defuse it.

Bulkhead is ready to go bash some 'Cons, but Arcee tells him that's already dealt with. [[William Fowler|Agent Fowler]], having been altered by the missile's automatic tracking device, turns up with a team of scientists to defuse the bomb. Prime, believing that the bomb was placed there as a failsafe in case the Autobots ever turned on the humans, firmly tells them to take it with them when they leave. Later on, Ratchet suggests that Raf helps with the redesign of the "Safe".

Before the dawn of time, Order and Chaos existed within an extradimensional entity known as [[The One]]. To explore the fledgling universe, he created the astral being known as [[Unicron]], and then subdivided him, creating his twin, Primus. Both brothers were [[Multiversal singularity|multiversal singularities]], unique in all realities, but whereas Unicron could only exist in one dimension at a time, moving between them at will, Primus existed simultaneously in all realities at once. It is suggested, in fact, that the two brothers embody the basic concepts of reality—good and evil, order and chaos—and that their continued existence is necessary for the stability of the multiverse.

As Unicron and Primus went about their appointed task, venturing through the cosmos, it became apparent to Primus that Unicron was a corrupt being, and he took it upon himself to stop the threat posed to all of existence by his sibling. In combat, Primus was no match for Unicron. In cunning, however, he proved himself to his brother's superior when he shifted their battle to the astral plane, and then back to the physical world once more, only to have both their essences manifest within metallic planetoids, leaving them both trapped. It was with this act of sacrifice that Primus hoped to contain Unicron's evil forever. Unfortunately for him, over time, Unicron learned to psionically shape his prison into a giant metallic planet, and Primus followed suit, becoming the mechanical world of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. When Unicron then learned to transform his planetary form even further, into a gigantic robot form, Primus adapted the idea to suit his own ends—rather than transforming his own body, he would create small beings that would be able to change their shape, like Unicron. After performing a "test run" on the moon of [[Protos]], where he successfully created [[Covenant|twelve transforming robotic beings]], {{storylink|Herald, Covenant, Schism, Paradox|Covenant}} he birthed from his own body a group of thirteen robots that possessed the ability to change shape, like Unicron. These were the [[thirteen original Transformers]], each one infused with a fragment of Primus's life essence known as a [[spark]].

The Thirteen were Primus's soldiers in his war with Unicron, which came to its seeming end during a climactic battle in which one of the Thirteen, Megatronus Prime, who would forever afterwards be known as the [[The Fallen|Fallen]], betrayed Primus and became an acolyte of Unicron. The battle ended when the Fallen and Unicron were sucked into a black hole and disappeared from reality. With Unicron gone for now, Primus entered an eons-long slumber, his self-imposed sleep preventing Unicron from detecting him through the mental link the brothers shared. The Transformer race grew, and Primus fell into the realm of legend, with a portion of his power, the [[Matrix of Leadership]], handed down through the generations, serving as the Transformers' ever-present link to their creator.

Though their battle against the Unicron cultists did temporarily unite both factions, this facade shattered once the Planet-Eater arrived. Sheer terror prevented them from carrying out his desire, and the Transformers fled despite Primus' pleas. Primus instead made a stand himself, attempting to dupe Unicron into believing he still retained his full power, but Unicron saw through the deception, and destroyed Xaaron's body. Optimus Prime came to a realization, following Primus' destruction and his retrieval of the lost and contaminated Creation Matrix, that Primus did not mean only for the Transformers to fight his battles for him, but to carry on after he was gone. Flying into space with the Matrix, Prime unleashed the full measure of Primus's power, destroying Unicron. {{storylink|On the Edge of Extinction!}}

Though the Transformers were technically victorious, this victory came with a price. With Primus dead, and with the grievous wounds inflicted on Cybertron itself, the planet threatened to come apart. Part of the Mini-Cons' job was to excise certain evolutionary throwbacks, remnants of Primus' earlier experiments, such as the [[Mutant (G1)|Mutant]]s, and this alarmed one Mini-Con. Formerly the assistant to the Primacron, the ancient genius who created the giant mechanoid Unicron, the robotic being known as the Oracle was badly damaged when Unicron rebelled against his creator. His essence fled to a dead world at the centre of the galaxy, which he used his powers to transform into a verdant, green planet. In the wake of this overwhelming transformation, the Quintessons had invaded the planet, but they were not the only threat to Cybertron's safety: The Wreckers were also faced with [[Cryotek (RID)|Cryotek]], who had used the legendary [[Divine Light]] to tap into the power of Primus and transform himself into a living god. During the course of the battle that ensued, Primal Prime and [[Apelinq]] were struck by a blast of Primus's power by Cryotek, which wound up merging them into [[Sentinel Maximus]]. While all of this was happening on Cybertron, elsewhere in the universe, on [[New Quintessa]], Primus briefly possessed the body of [[Icebird]] so that he could address the Quintesson leader [[Judge Heirodyus]]. With Cybertron left in a disastrous state after the chaos-bringer's attack, large amounts of energon were required to repair the planet, and to search for and acquire the mineral, the united Autobot-Decepticon forces entered into an alliance with the [[Earth Federation]] government.

Primus entered into the equation when the project's head scientist, [[Brian Jones (Energon)|Dr. Brian Jones]], brought his son, [[Kicker Jones|Kicker]], to Cybertron. Terrified of the giant robots surrounding him, Kicker fled, only to find himself tumbling through tunnels into a hidden chamber deep beneath Cybertron's surface. Primus awoke and saved Kicker from what would have been a fatal fall, and for his own reasons, imbued the child with a special gift—the ability to detect energon throughout the [[universe (universe)|universe]]. [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] subsequently discovered Kicker in Primus's chamber, and the god chose to work with the Transformers quite directly, imbuing them with the [[Spark of Combination]], which would allow the Autobots to [[Powerlinx]] and increase their powers. Primus went on to advise Optimus Prime on his actions in order to prepare for the future, including the [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcon]] invasion, the return of [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]], and the next battle with Unicron; although vague at times, he would offer just enough information to allow his children to survive the threats they faced. Primus was often very weak due to the damage done to the planet's surface, and spent most of his time in a mode of stasis to preserve his energy and keep Cybertron's energy grid online.

Primus's plan to contain Unicron's essence in the center of the sun failed when the star collapsed into a massive [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] which threatened not only Cybertron and the universe, but the entire multiverse itself. His energy drained to the point that he had once again been rendered dormant, Primus could now only be awakened and restored to full power by the four ancient [[Cyber Planet Key]]s, lost to the far reaches of the galaxy in a failed [[space bridge]] experiment eons ago. The magnitude of the threat posed to the multiverse was enough to summon [[Vector Prime]]—one of the original thirteen Transformers, who had been following Unicron through the multiverse and repairing the damage he had done—back to Cybertron to aid the Autobots in the quest for the keys.

After a while, the Autobots were able to find the focusing device, the [[Omega Lock]], and the keys from [[Velocitron]] and [[Jungle Planet (Cybertron)|Jungle Planet]]. Bringing all three together caused the group to be drawn into the consciousness of Primus, who spoke through the three Mini-Cons and told his children to "maintain the balance". {{storylink|Trap}}

Until, that is, Primus created the [[Thirteen original Transformers|Thirteen]]: the original Primes. These Thirteen defeated Unicron and cast him into space. Primus then became one with the core of Cybertron, and brought life to new Cybertronians through the [[Well of All Sparks]]. == Retconning the retcon? ==

It's no secret that, after the Unicron Trilogy, ''Universe'' and the Unicron-heavy [[Dreamwave Productions]] comic books, the [[fandom]] at large was generally quite sick of stories revolving around Unicron and Primus. It is likely no coincidence, then, that the major new universes created in western media between then and [[2010]]—those of the [[IDW Publishing]] comic books, the [[live-action film series|live-action movie]] and the ''[[Transformers Animated (cartoon)|Transformers Animated]]'' cartoon—all eschewed use of the Primus creation myth. But what does this mean for the status of the retcon that states Primus exists in all universes?

The world of the live-action initially presented the Transformers as creations of the enigmatic [[AllSpark]], with no explicit connection drawn between it and Primus. However, connections soon began to emerge. First, Takara's [[World of the Transformers]] website listed the AllSpark as a [[sacred implement]] alongside other Primus-related talismans such as the Matrix and Vector Sigma. Then, the UK's ''[[Transformers (Titan Magazine)|Transformers]]'' magazine introduced Unicron in [[Transformers Comic issue 18|its eighteenth issue]], and then in [[Transformers Comic issue 20|#20]], had the Transformers discover huge versions of their own interior workings deep inside Cybertron, in a clear reference to Cybertron being the transforming body of Primus. Primus was first referred to by name in a profile for The Fallen printed by Titan, which noted that legend claimed he was the creator of the first Transformers, and then again in IDW's ''[[Tales of the Fallen]]'' mini-series. At this point, it is clear that Primus does exist in the movie universe, and that the AllSpark is merely the object through which he acts. In 2010, the new ''[[Transformers: Prime (franchise)|Transformers: Prime]]'' continuity family lent further credence to this reading of events by incorporating it into its own storyline.

Much like the movieverse, the world of ''Transformers Animated'' also depicts the source of Transformer life as a mysterious talisman known as the [[AllSpark]], for which no origin has been given. As far as [[authorial intent]] goes, series art director [[Derrick J. Wyatt]] stated more than once his opinion that Primus does not exist in the ''Animated'' universe [http://twitter.com/DerrickJWyatt/status/1759990650]. The [[Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac II|''AllSpark Almanac II'']] treads lightly on the matter in seeming honor of Wyatt's wishes, never revealing Cybertron's origins. It does, however, mention a "battle between primordial titans" as one possible origin for the planet, in an obvious allusion to the Unicron/Primus creation story, and repeatedly brings up Primus and many of the concepts associated with him by name when discussing ''other'' universes.

The IDW universe was less clear on the matter. Writer [[Simon Furman]] outright said that the IDW universe would have "no Primus. No Unicron". In accordance with this, the Furman-penned ''[[Stormbringer (comics)|Stormbringer]]'', rather than have Transformers swear by Primus, instead had them swear by [[Primacron]], but a monkeywrench was thrown into the works when Primus's name was heard being taken in vain in [[Eric Holmes]]'s [[Megatron Origin issue 4|''Megatron Origin'' #4]]. Furman attempted to justify this on his blog by claiming that this was not ''the'' Primus, but simply "something or someone" called Primus that had existed some point. With Furman's removal as the primary architect of the IDW universe, things got changed: "[[Chaos Theory Part 2]]" by [[James Roberts]] refers to a Primus. However, he is not only referred to as a being that Optimus doesn't believe in, he's mentioned in conjunction with two ''other'' gods, [[Mortilus]] and [[Adaptus]], that Optimus also didn't believe in.

Ultimately, there is ''very'' little to say that Primus does not exist in the IDW or ''Animated'' universe, besides the fact that creators involved with those universes do not want to include the character in their stories. After all, just because Primus doesn't ''appear'', or characters are unaware of him, it doesn't mean he doesn't ''exist''. It wouldn't be the only time this has happened: the occupants of the parallel ''[[Shattered Glass (franchise)|Shattered Glass]]'' universe were largely ignorant of Primus until a [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper from another universe]] mentioned him. It seems quite safe to conclude that, as of this moment, the retcon has not yet itself been retconned... and we kinda hope it isn't, because then some poor sod is going to have rewrite this article from the ground up.
