Most of this is admittedly taken from the Wikipedia entry, although I have done a fair bit of editing on it (mostly to try to fix the many, many links in it, and also to remove stuff explicitly about OTFCC, but not about Botcon, since I think OTFCC should have [already has?] it's own article.--[[User:G.B. ::It totally was! So play with it as you see fit! -hx 00:37, 10 June 2006 (UTC)
: We can further alter it, of course. I mean, I'm of the opinion each show should have its own article where most of that guest/toy/location information should go, but other tidbits. Significant events at the shows, whatr Hasbro revealed, that sort of thing. --M Sipher 18:34, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
:: I'm certainly fine with this. It just seemed to me that there was a need for a more complete entry (i.e., not just one line), and this seemed like one that the existing Wikipedia was (largely) appropriate for (I don't advocate importing Wikipedia entries in general).--[[User:G.B. Where's this from? Chip 12:50, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Botcon 2007. One of the Pannels. From what I understand originally (wasn't there myself) there was a whole different set in planning for this year, which is where Alpha Trion stems from and why he's not in any of the Con fiction. They apparently dumped whatever that concept was (including Sentinel Prime) in favor of Springer and co. but kept Alpha Trion anyway because they just really liked him. I don't know if they said what the others were besides Sentinel. Anyone know?

:That sounds roughly correct, but I don't have my notes on me. If I remember, I will check tonight. --Steve-o 17:36, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
::I have checked, and the anonymous poster's statements are accurate. This was revealed at the Club Roundtable panel. --Steve-o 21:26, 19 July 2007 (UTC)

Intro sentence
Unless we're considering OTFCC a "form" of BotCon (which I personally do), the first sentence is in error; BotCon was not held in any form in 2003. Khajidha 23:58, 1 January 2010 (EST)
: It was held in OTFCC form in 2003. That's the entire reason why "in one form or another" is there in the sentence. --ItsWalky 00:21, 2 January 2010 (EST)
::That was my point. OTFCC is treated in some places as just a variant of BotCon and in others as something different. The very fact that the OTFCC links are "see also's" and not in line with the BotCon links makes it seem like something different. I just think it should be consistent, whichever way is the official one. Khajidha 00:26, 2 January 2010 (EST)

Guest list
In reference to Thylacine2000's recent edit summary, I propose that we remove the massive list of guests from this article and refer people to each year's page. A note about who has the most appearances might be in order as well. Looking over the article, the locations and exclusive toys lists should also probably be trimmed. This page should be about things that pertain to ALL BotCons, not each individually. --Khajidha 15:35, 29 September 2010 (EDT)
:(Coming back to draw interest to this topic.) Is there any support for changing this page from its current state (basically combining all information from the individual year pages) into a "hub" page giving only a brief overview for each subtopic while directing readers to each page for more details. A box like that used to list each individual issue on the Marvel comic page could be used for linking to the individual years. --Khajidha 08:11, 11 October 2010 (EDT)
::I've mocked up my proposal at User:Khajidha/sandbox/botcon. I think we should take this opportunity to merge The Official Transformers Collectors Convention page into this one as well. Feedback? --Khajidha 17:49, 24 October 2010 (EDT)
:::I really prefer what you've put together to the increasingly unstable and top-heavy tower we have now. I actually just logged in so I could add the guest list for BC10 to our current page, but as I started to type the same old "Archer, Lombardo, Rowley, Cullen, McNeill, Tipton" thing for what would be like the 7th time in a row on the same page I just couldn't go on with it. For something as central to the fandom as BC is, I think we owe it to ourselves to present a readable overview and not a never-ending and at this point extremely repetitive list. However, making a change this significant would require more user comments than just the two of us. Anybody? --Thylacine 2000 11:42, 21 November 2010 (EST)
::::Move the table of BotCon links from the bottom up at the top, and I'm cool with the proposed change. --ItsWalky 12:51, 21 November 2010 (EST)
:::::Should we take this opportunity to make OTFCC redirect here? There really isn't much that can be said about it aside from the history of why it happened, which is really a part of the overview of BotCon history. --Khajidha 14:31, 21 November 2010 (EST)
:::::I've moved information about those conventions without current pages of their own to User:Khajidha/sandbox/botcon so that it can be easily found for use. --Khajidha 14:52, 21 November 2010 (EST)
Overhaul
Okay... I don't remember what brought me to this page, but as I read it... it's kind of... embarrassingly outdated and perfunctory. Removing all the individual years' nitpicky data is good and all, but... we've been left with a meatless skeleton of an article. Seriously, look at the "exclusive fiction" section. What a fucking joke. "It exists". No info on trends, evolutions, additions. Nothing on the conventions moving from year to year. No note how 2002 becoming officially "official" was only really publicly acknowledging that it basically already WAS since '97.<br>
I did a little tweaking to the toys section, but it needs a LOT more. That the largest section of this page is the list of toys NOT produced for BotCon is too sad to be hilariously awful. This is Transformers fucking MECCA and our page on it is good for little more than the link-chart up top to the individual conventions. This page should be something we would have as a Featured Article. --M Sipher 16:17, 29 January 2011 (EST)
:Agreed. I removed the nitpicky stuff because it is better served on the individual pages, but I did not know what to put in its place as I have never been to a BotCon (***SOB***). --Khajidha 16:34, 29 January 2011 (EST)
::Really liking the new page, just how much was missing wasn't really apparent until the extraneous detail was removed. Repeating my question from the previous section: Should we take this opportunity to make OTFCC redirect here? There really isn't much that can be said about it aside from the history of why it happened and why it stopped happening, which is really a part of the overview of BotCon history.--Khajidha 10:34, 31 January 2011 (EST)

OTFCC 2005
Aside from the unproduced toys do we have any information about what was planned for OTFCC 2005? Was a location picked? Had anyone agreed to make appearances? --Khajidha 12:01, 21 July 2011 (EDT)
