Since then, Wing Saber has led a noble life of becoming parts for [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]]. Wing Saber even has his own personal team of [[Mini-Con]]s, the [[Caliber Mini-Cons]].

==Fiction==
===''Energon'' cartoon===
:''Voice actor:'' [[Colin Murdoch]] (English), [[Kōji Yusa]] (Japanese), [[Christian Jernbro]] (Swedish)

Wing Dagger served the Autobots as a security guard on Cybertron; he was the jailer in charge of the Decepticon criminal [[Shockblast (Energon)|Shockblast]]. During a Decepticon uprising, Shockblast escaped his prison. {{storylink|Alpha Q: Identity|Alpha Q: Identity}} Wing Dagger and his friend [[Padlock]] pursued him, but Shockblast ended up killing Padlock. Wing Dagger grieved for his friend and swore revenge on Shockblast. {{storylink|Shockblast: Rampage}}

During a Decepticon assault on Cybertron, Wing Dagger lassoed Shockblast with energy bands, but the powerful Decepticon simply pulled him up into the air. As they wove through the sky among the [[Energon tower|energon towers]], the Decepticon blasted one of the towers, causing it to crash down upon Wing Dagger and Tidal Wave. Tidal Wave survived with damage, but Wing Dagger died. {{storylink|Each One Fights...}}

Wing Dagger's inert form was taken to [[Primus]]. {{storylink|Unicron Unleashed}} With the aid of [[Rad White|Rad]], Primus restored the warrior, imbuing him with a [[Spark of Combination]]. {{storylink|Open Fire!}} Reformatted into Wing Saber, he joined Optimus's team not only to find energon, but to avenge the death of his friend.

Wing Saber, having been reformatted and re-powered by Primus himself, understood his task of being Optimus Prime's personal servant. Optimus Prime reminded Wing Saber that he was not Prime's property, and Wing Saber seemed to have issues figuring out who he was. He went with Optimus's team as they pursued Megatron into [[Alpha Q's universe|a fledgling new dimension]]. {{storylink|Ripped Up Space|Ripped Up Space}}

Wing Saber eventually faced off with Shockblast again on [[Iron Planet]]. After making sure that his half-dozen buddies were backing him up, he gave the lone Decepticon a thorough trashing and captured him. Oh, brave Wing Saber! Shockblast was defeated at last; Padlock was avenged, and justice was served. {{storylink|Protection}}

Shockblast escaped about a day later. Wing Saber didn't seem to notice much. {{storylink|Imprisoned Inferno}}

Wing Saber continued to help Optimus and the other Autobots defend Alpha Q's planets. {{storylink|Jungle Planet (episode)|Jungle Planet}} He braved the hazards of the [[Rift (Energon)|rift in space]] to locate Unicron's missing body. {{storylink|Omega Supreme (episode)|Omega Supreme}} Like most of the team, he was severely damaged during the final confrontation with Unicron. {{storylink|Optimus Supreme}} He returned to the ''Miranda II''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s sick bay as the battle neared its end. {{storylink|Unicron Perishes}}

Later, he returned to Cybertron, {{storylink|Ambition}} and led underground resistance to Galvatron's invasion of the planet. {{storylink|Galvatron!}} {{storylink|Break Through}} Optimus finally arrived to help them, and he and Wing Saber linked up once more to stand up against Galvatron. {{storylink|The Omega Train}} They took a direct hit from the planet's [[energon grid]], however, and went down in flames. Wing Saber was left unconscious, and was nearly destroyed by Galvatron until the Omnicons arrived to restore him. He and Optimus recombined, striking a devastating blow to Galvatron, prompting him to retreat. {{storylink|Decepticon Army}}

Wing Saber was among the gathered troops who joined with Optimus Prime in spark form to confront the massive [[Megatron (Armada)|Galvatron]]-[[Unicron]] fusion. Like the others, he was restored to his own body after the battle's conclusion. {{storylink|The Sun}}

===''Cybertron'' cartoon===
:''Voice Actor:'' [[Sam Vincent]] (English), [[Takayasu Usui]] (Japanese)
{{cleanup|October 2008|It is poorly written as one giant paragraph and slightly out-of-universe. Needs storylinks.}}

Wing Saber returned during the search for the [[Cyber Planet Key|Cyber Planet Keys]], but with a new rebellious, irreverent edge. Having undergone a falling out with Optimus Prime in the brief period between ''Energon'' and ''Cybertron'' involving the life of a stranded astronaut, Wing Saber took off into space and returned when he encountered the [[Omega Frequency]] wave after the [[Velocitron|Speed Planet]] Key was inserted into the [[Omega Lock]] on [[Earth]]. Wing Saber now showed signs of a new defiant attitude toward his former allies, even to the point of violence. He attacked Optimus Prime at one point (claiming Prime had it coming) and fired at Hot Shot's feet when the latter questioned him once. However, Wing Saber quickly found himself part of the team again, which led to reviving his ability to combine with Optimus Prime to create their Sonic Wing Mode. Wing Saber continued to aid the Autobots until the end of the series, at which point he departed and eventually encountered (and dueled with) the mighty [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]], who had somehow survived his duel with Galvatron on [[Gigantion|the Giant Planet]].

{{note|Sonic Bomber is not the same character as Energon Wing Saber in ''Galaxy Force''. Probably. Maybe. Takara's [[retcon]] of ''Galaxy Force'' back into [[continuity]] with ''Super Link'' makes things questionable.}}
He disassembles into four portions, which attach to the limbs on the Super-class ''Energon'' Optimus Prime toy. When Wing Saber's upper-body parts and wings are attached to Prime's arms, they are in "Flight Mode", while the lower-body-as-arms configuration brings Wing Saber's non-firing cannons to the forefront, forming "Fight Mode".

:As Wing Saber is essentially a glorified accessory for the Super class Optimus Prime figure, his robot mode is a [[brick]], with almost no articulation beyond some minor movement in his lower arms.

: The [[Takara]] version predated the [[Hasbro]] release by several months. The two versions are largely identical, but Takara's has a greater number of more intricate [[Paint operation|paint applications]].
: ''Cybertron'' Wing Saber transforms into a heavily armed military plane based on an A-10 Thunderbolt. Pressing the button behind his cockpit canopy causes a machine gun sound to emit from a speaker on the bottom of the nosecone. Plugging a [[Cyber Planet Key]] into the key slot behind his canopy splits the nosecone fuselage in half and exposes a cannon with a red LED. Pressing the button activates the same machine gun sound effect, this time with the red LED flashing.

:Wing Saber's wing-flaps detach to form swords; for Wing Saber to use them, they need to be inserted into sword-handles that plug into 5mm holes in his forearms, as his hands are incompatible with the standard weapon-pegs. His removable spring-loaded missile launchers, mounted under his wings, can also be attached to those ports. Wing Saber can also form a backpack for Leader class Optimus Prime's super mode, forming their '''Sonic Wing Mode'''.
This problem was fixed for the [[Hasbro]] Wing Saber figure. The Sonic Bomber figure preceded [[Hasbro]]'s Wing Saber by several months and has a slightly different deco. Differences include silver chromed saber blades and a gold chromed chest shield. Minor changes were also made to graphics on the plane, such as an entirely red nosecone as opposed to Sonic Bomber's red striped, and smaller [[Autobot]] insignias on the wings.

==Notes==
* ''Energon'' Wing Saber was a toy-concept initiated by [[Takara]] and left largely to their own design team to develop, though they had to follow various [[Hasbro]] price-point mandates. The toy was detail-designed by noted Japanese fan [[Hirofumi Ichikawa]] and incorporates elements of fan-favorites [[Predaking]] and [[Star Saber (G1)|Star Saber]].

* Ichikawa originally envisioned Wing Saber's personal weapon to be the [[Energon Saber]]. This was nixed by the animation production staff, however, along with many other toy-team concepts.

* ''Energon'' Wing Saber was originally named [[Superion Maximus]] for his western incarnation, but the name was shelved in favor of simply reusing the established Japanese name. "Superion Maximus" was reused for the combined form of the ''Energon'' [[Air Team]] shortly thereafter.

[[Image:CYB sonic bomber originalsculpt.jpg|right|150px|thumb|Sonic Bomber has wing sabers.]]
* Wing Saber's bio on Transformers.com, first appearing under the "Superion Maximus" title, was largely different from anything else, wherein "Wing Saber" was a venerable defender of high ranking Autobots and was the personal carrier of the Autobot high council.

* ''Cybertron'' Wing Saber's original sculpt featured a different vehicle mode nosecone design than seen on the final toy. As revealed by the Japanese online retailer [http://www.amenbo.com Amenbo.com] on April 29 2005, the original sculpt had a much greater resemblance to the A-10 Thunderbolt, with a rounded nose cone, a correctly shaped (translucent) canopy, and twin translucent Gatling cannons. It is unknown what prompted the change from this more realistic sculpt to the entirely opaque one seen on the final toy.

*''Cybertron'' Wing Saber was originally named "Knockout", but this was presumably shelved to have another preexisting character in the series.

When Megatron got his ass beat down ''bad'' by [[Metroplex (Cybertron)|Metroplex]], Nemesis Breaker disappeared, presumably into a plot hole, though it's curious that whatever happened to him didn't have any effect on [[Crumplezone (Cybertron)|Crumplezone]], who had recently been brought back from death's door as Dark Crumplezone by the use of the same mystery doodah that Megatron made Nemesis Breaker out of. {{storylink|Giant}}

: A [[redeco]] of [[Overhaul (Cybertron)|Leobreaker]] in the typical-to-evil-clones scheme of black and dark gray with turquoise trim, Nemesis Breaker transforms into a robotic lion with electronic sounds. Plugging a [[Cyber Planet Key]] into each of his forelegs/forearms flips down a pair of claws. He can also form something resembling a clawed arm that can be attached to the ''Cybertron'' Leader-Class [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]] molds. He comes with a silver-bordered [[Jungle Planet (Cybertron)|Jungle Planet]] style Cyber Key; the [[Hasbro]] version has the [[Cyber Key Codes|Key code]] "'''v6f5'''".

: The [[Takara]] version of the toy was released first, as a Toys 'R' Us [[exclusive]]. (It was originally solicited as a normal retail release with the ID number "GD-14", but supposedly, low sales of ''Galaxy Force'' forced several larger show-toys into being exclusives.) The Hasbro version was released at normal retail, and had numerous small [[Paint operation|paint application]] changes, most notably the Decepticon-sigil "tattoo" being on his right shoulder, rather than left.

: This mold was used as the model for the non-toy body for the ''[[Generation 1]]'' [[Predacon (G1)|Predacon]] [[Razorclaw (G1)|Razorclaw]] in the "[[Dawn of Future's Past]]" comic book.

==Notes==
* The television CGI model of Nemesis Breaker used during the combiner sequence animation, as well as the representation of the combined arm mode is based upon a modified version of one of the original prototypes of Leobreaker, who had a much more complex and believable 'arm-mode'.

* Despite his packaging marking him as being from the [[Jungle Planet (Cybertron)|Jungle Planet]], Nemesis Breaker never even so much as set foot on that world. Also, the [[bio]] states that he was created by Galvatron, whom Megatron did not (re-)assume until AFTER Nemesis Breaker is [[Giant Purple Griffin|wiped out in a highly pathetic way.]]

'''Ultra Magnus''' hates his brother, [[Optimus Prime (RID)|Optimus Prime]], because Prime got the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]] and he didn't. They combine all the time anyway, either because Magnus can't deny his noble Autobot nature, or because if Prime gets blown to tiny bits, the Matrix could get blown to tiny bits with him.

[[Image:Ultra Magnus eye.jpg|left|200px|thumb|]]
Ultra Magnus was created by [[Alpha Trion (RID)|Alpha Trion]] and brought online at the exact same moment as his brother, Optimus Prime. They both served with distinction during the [[Cybertronian Civil Wars]], presumably against the [[Predacon (RID)|Predacons]]. Afterwards, when the time came for [[Vector Sigma]] (also referred to as the [[Allspark]] in this continuity) to choose a new Matrix Bearer and Autobot leader, Magnus was passed over in favor of Optimus. Magnus was infuriated by this, and left Cybertron immediately afterwards. He became increasingly embittered, both towards his brother and mainstream Autobots in general, causing him to come off as something of a jerk when dealing with them.

[[Image:Ultra Magnus Magnusprime.jpg|right|200px|thumb|]]
Some time later, he tracked down his brother to the planet he was currently charged with protecting, [[Earth]]. There, he first encountered the [[Decepticon|Decepticons]] and singlehandedly defeated them all, even when they combined into [[Ruination (RID)|Ruination]], becoming the first being to beat Ruination without any sort of help. {{storylink|Ultra Magnus (episode)|Ultra Magnus}} He then challenged Optimus Prime for possession of the [[Matrix of Leadership]] and command of the Autobots. Optimus refused to fight his brother, however, not that that stopped Ultra Magnus from blasting him with his powerful weapon, Blue Bolts. Optimus was only saved by the intervention of [[Side Burn (RID)|Side Burn]], [[Prowl (RID)|Prowl]] and [[X-Brawn]], who rescued their commander and transported him to a remote island to recuperate. It was there that Optimus revealed to Side Burn his relationship to Ultra Magnus, much to the young Autobot's shock. Unfortunately, the Predacon [[Sky-Byte]] had used a hidden tracking device to locate Optimus Prime, and he, [[Megatron (RID)|Megatron]] and the Decepticons ganged up on the weakened Autobot leader. Ultra Magnus then showed up, having followed Sky-Byte, and forced Optimus Prime to merge with him, becoming [[Omega Prime]], with the intention of absorbing the Matrix's power. However, he was shocked to discover that Optimus Prime had just as much control over Omega Prime as he did, and they were forced to cooperate to use their combined form's firepower to drive off the Decepticons. {{storylink|Ultra Magnus: Forced Fusion!}}

Although he remained a free agent, Ultra Magnus would come to the aid of the Autobots whenever he felt they required assistance, though he was always quick to deny that he actually cared for their safety. He also often combined with Optimus when the situation required it. These frequent combinations apparently had some unexpected side effects, as Ultra Magnus seemed to unconsciously channel the energies of the Matrix into the [[Autobot Brothers|Autobot brothers]], upgrading them to their new "supercharged" forms. Although this was never explicitly explained in the show, afterwards, Optimus speculated that he and Magnus were now somehow "sharing" the Matrix.

[[Image:Two Faces Ultra Magnus vehicle.jpg|left|200px|thumb|]]
Ultra Magnus once pretended to join the Decepticons in an attempt to infiltrate the group, however, this plan failed due to the interference of the Autobot brothers, who believed that Magnus had genuinely betrayed them. An all-out battle between Autobots and Predacons/Decepticons soon erupted, with Ultra Magnus proving that his true loyalties lay with the Autobots. {{storylink|The Two Faces of Ultra Magnus}}

He would constantly appear ''out of nowhere'' whenever the Autobots were in trouble, using his strength, guns and combining power to help save the day. How he always managed this is unknown.

By the end of the series, Optimus and Ultra Magnus had more-or-less reconciled, and merged into Omega Prime one last time to defeat Galvatron at the Earth's center, ending the conflict at last. Ultra Magnus then took custody of the prisoners aboard [[Fortress Maximus (RID)|Fortress Maximus]] to return them to Cybertron. {{storylink|The Final Battle (RID)|The Final Battle}}
===''Cybertron'' comic===
However, this was not the end of Ultra Magnus's story, for both he and his brother were abducted by the chaos-bringer himself, [[Unicron]], and pitted against his legion of minions as part of an elaborate attempt to revitalize himself. This war ended abruptly when Unicron's physical form was destroyed in another universe, resulting in the [[Unicron Singularity]], which threatened the very multiverse itself. Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime were among the Transformers who were displaced in the [[Unicron Trilogy]] universe in the wake of this event. There they joined forces with the Autobots [[Sentinel Maximus]], [[Vector Prime]], and even that universe's version of their creator, Alpha Trion. When [[Nemesis Prime (Universe 2003)|Nemesis Prime]] attempted to destroy [[Primus]] himself using the [[Dead Matrix]], they intervened as Omega Prime. Later, while his brother helped Primus recover, Ultra Magnus defeated Nemesis Prime in one-on-one combat.

He later became involved in the [[Mini-Con Civil War]] that erupted on Cybertron's moons, and even fought against the reincarnated Unicron himself as Omega Prime.
:Magnus' alternate mode is a massive car-carrier vehicle (akin to his G1 counterpart). He is able to carry all three Autobot Brothers when in "carrier mode". In robot mode, Magnus is a rather towering figure due to his oddly long legs (made up of the carrier component to vehicle mode). His "Blue Bolts" weapon can be configured into three different modes and, when plugged into the proper connectors, generate different sound effects. A button on his back also allows for an additional shout from Magnus (in either Japanese or English, depending on the version of the toy). The Japanese release is slightly different in that it uses different missiles, lacks tampographed Autobot symbols on the sides, and features darker, metallic-flaked plastics. Magnus can combine with the large ''Robots in Disguise'' Optimus Prime toy to create Omega Prime. Just like his combiner parter, Ultra Magnus features Mini-Con ports before they were used in Armada.
:This [[black repaint]] of Ultra Magnus is ''hugely'' rare, to the extent that its very ''existence'' is occasionally questioned. Only ten units are known to exist, having been offered in a TV Magazine prize draw that seemed to slip under everyone's radar. The figure would later be included in a "Black God Fire Convoy" giftset with Black Super Fire Convoy.
:This two-figure giftset includes the Black God Magnus figure, plus the black version of the Optimus figure (itself only available through contests and raffles, although in significantly larger numbers than Magnus had been), who together combine to form Black God Fire Convoy. It was just as limited in its availablity as the original Black God Magnus figure, with the only ten units known to exist being offered as prizes in a scratch-card contest that TV Magazine run until early November 2000.
:This two-figure giftset includes a unique clear version of the Ultra Magnus figure not available anywhere else, paired with the Clear Super Fire Convoy that had previously been available through other contests, who together combine to form Clear God Fire Convoy. The set also included the Matrix Blade sword, which had previously been available only through various contests and raffles.

:The giftset was exclusive to Japanese [[Toys"R"Us]] stores. Released in November 2000, it was limited to 3000 pieces; reportedly, only 100 TRUs carried the set, and limited customers to one purchase on the day of release.

[[Image:Spychanger Magnus.jpg|right|180px|thumb|Too small to deal with it.]]
:A simplified, smaller version of Ultra Magnus at the basic price point. It has room for one Spychanger on the top of the carrier mode, such as the smaller versions of Side Burn and X-Brawn, but, of course, they are wildly out of scale with each other. The toy has a surprising amount of articulation for a Spychanger, with joints for the head, shoulders and legs. (Magnus Split action!) He only has 4 moving wheels; the rest are molded in.

: The Sam's Club [[exclusive]] Ultra Magnus was more-or-less unchanged from its ''Robots in Disguise'' counterpart, with the only noticeable difference being that his dark blue parts had become a much darker blue.
'''The Autobots must stop Galvatron from smashing Cybertron into Plains Planet.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Misha Miramond|Misha]] stands in a field of dead grass and notes that a planet has been destroyed. [[Inferno (Energon)|Roadblock]] calls in, reporting that [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] is about to emerge from the [[Warp Gate|warp gate]].

Remember that painting in the [[Super Energon Temple]]? It's still there.

[[Primus]] is still glowing within Cybertron, where [[Kicker Jones|Kicker]] and his family anxiously wait for him to awaken. With their [[Energon (Energon)|energon]] running out, the [[Omnicon]]s can't spare any more [[energon star]]s for him.

Somewhere in space, the Unicron sphere glows.

The gas grid snaps and crackles.

Planets float in space... and Cybertron emerges from the warp gate, appearing out of the blackness of space.

The [[Autobot]]s and [[Decepticon]]s are shooting it out on the planet's surface. [[Megatron (Armada)|Galvatron]] and [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]] urge [[Six Shot]] to finish repairing the [[energon grid]], but he gives them lip, saying that they could win easily if they'd just follow his plan. Galvatron relents; Six Shot advises them to clear the area. Soon, a build-up of gas detonates the planet's surface beneath the Autobots, forcing them into a hasty retreat. Six Shot is pleased with the results; a huge cloud of energon gas emerges in the central city.

The Autobots have been blown into space and are drifting, damaged. [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus]] calls in to the others, who promise to prepare energon stars. Misha reports that the planet is accelerating and will soon collide with [[Plains Planet]]. The Autobots don't have the manpower to take back the control room. [[Brian Jones|Dr. Jones]] says to leave it to him, and heads off to investigate the gas grid flow. Kicker follows.

Cybertron impacts three smaller planets, which explode. Misha explains that their atmospheres aren't strong enough to withstand the energon. Roadblock theorizes that if they impact Plains Planet, a worst-case scenario could be a chain reaction that would destroy [[Alpha Q's universe|the entire universe]].

Somewhere in space, the Unicron orb glows.

Optimus (still combined with [[Omega Supreme (Energon)|Omega]]) watches the exploding planets and realizes that "the evil" is still somewhere in Cybertron. He heads that way, despite his troops' urging. Galvatron happily meets up with him in the gaseous atmosphere, gloating at his damaged condition.

Kicker and Dr. Jones work on the gas grid. They plan to cut off some of the towers that are accelerating the planet, but that still won't stop its forward motion. Before they can figure out a way to stop it, Ironhide reports strange activity in the Primus chamber.

Unicron orb? Still there.

Optimus demands to know why Galvatron has kept [[Unicron]]'s spark alive. Galvatron denies everything, and shoots him. Prime calls out to Primus for help.

Meanwhile, Super Energon Temple painting? Still there.

Unicron orb? Still there.

As Galvatron moves in for a killing blow, the light of Primus streaks forth, enveloping both leaders. The gas is sucked back into Cybertron, and Optimus Supreme stands enormous, almost half as tall as the planet itself. Galvatron just laughs. Six Shot reactivates the energon towers to keep the planet moving forward.

Groaning a deep and guttural groan, Optimus smashes his fists into the planet to try and stop it. Kicker contacts [[Rodimus (Energon)|Rodimus]]'s team and has them head for the north sector, to destroy the energon towers there. The recently-recovered [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]] joins the team and takes command, having Rodimus stay behind to watch Optimus's back.

Galvatron sends his troops to stop Jetfire's team, and attacks Optimus as he strains against the planet. Rodimus engages him, despite his injuries. Jetfire's team keeps the Decepticons at bay, while Kicker and the Omnicons begin destroying towers. Galvatron orders Six Shot to increase the tower output; Six Shot refuses, saying it's too dangerous with the towers exploding. Galvatron responds to this in predictable fashion: with insults. Six Shot basically says "hell with it" and increases the power.

Rodimus is distracted by the sight of Plains Planet looming near, allowing Galvatron to score a hit. Meanwhile the towers are going crazy, exploding left and right, prompting both sides to flee. Galvatron rebukes Six Shot, but he protests that he's just following orders. Galvatron sends Starscream back to the control room to deal with him.

Galvatron happily points out to Rodimus that Optimus has become infected by Unicron; he flies away, saying they'll finish this later. The towers shut down, and Optimus brings the planet to a halt. Rodimus has a brief moment to be relieved... until Optimus continues smashing his arm into the planet's depths. Rodimus urges him to stop, which he does.

Optimus glows green, and his enormous form dissolves into green light, as [[Alpha Quintesson|Alpha Q]] observes and wonders what Galvatron meant.

Oh, and the Unicron orb? Remember that? Still there.
"''Something'' isn't right."
:—'''Optimus Prime''', watching four planets explode. Gee, ''ya think?!''

==Other Notes==
===Lost in Translation===
* It starts right away, as Misha makes the nonsensical observation that "That planet is destroyed!" while standing in a field. She's ''supposed'' to be noting that the planet is deteriorating (due to the lack of a sun.)
* As Cybertron exits the warp gate, the dub has Optimus make the sage and timely observation that "It looks like they're about to fire up the warp gate!"
* The dub adds in some talk from Six Shot about how they can use the gas to propel the planet, and has him saying that the explosion released "a huge gust of energy" (conflicting with the animation, which shows that the explosion released the green energon gas.) He's supposed to just say that they no longer need the energon towers (for repelling the Autobots), since the gas is covering the planet again.
* Misha's explanation about the exploding planets omits her mention that they are "unripened", and that the green energon gas is reacting with the energon in the planets.
* Galvatron makes the strange dub observation that Optimus is "over one thousand feet tall"... which, based on the previous shot, would make Cybertron ''maybe'' one mile in diameter.
* The dub consistently identifies the planet-propelling energon towers as being in the "north"... but the animation (assuming north is at the top) show them near the planet's equator. ''Super Link'' says they're in the east.
* When Optimus smashes his fist into the planet to stop it, sending reverberations through the Primus chamber, Kicker immediately responds with "Hey, what'd you do that for?!"... even though he's inside the planet and could have no idea what caused it. It's a random dub addition.
* So... Optimus is apparently becoming contaminated by Unicron. You might ''think'' this is leading up to something, but no, after a two-second scene in which Optimus smashes a bit of Cybertron, the (totally unexplained, by the way) Unicron power within him is never mentioned again except as just another power-up device. It ''did'' crop back up in ''Super Link'', in the episode "[[Spark (episode)|Spark]]" (only to be mangled out for the dub), but even there, it served little purpose besides causing Optimus and Galvatron to fight one another, which... they would have done anyway.

In his day, '''Jetfire''' was a living legend both in the air and on the battlefield. Sadly, his day has long since passed. His body went south years back. His bunny is dead on the wheel. He's got rust in places he didn't even know he had. Basically, Jetfire's old! An ancient Decepticon [[Seeker (ROTF)|Seeker]], Jetfire was around long before the war broke out, and unlike many, came to see his "comrades" for what they were. This caused him to defect to the Autobots, something virtually unheard of. He's a fine asset, powerful and possessing the ability to teleport across great distances. This is slightly offset by the fact he's so old, his processor gave up the ghost millennia ago. These days he has a hard enough time remembering his name. It makes him a bit crotchety and also leaves him with the nagging feeling he's forgotten something important.

{{quote|My father, why, he was a wheel! The ''first'' wheel! And do you know what he transformed into? ''Nothing!'' But he did so ''with honor! In the distant past, the [[All Spark (Movie)|All Spark]] Cube created [[Thirteen original Transformers|a race]] of powerful, trans-dimensional beings as the first inhabitants of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. The Cube gave these beings mighty powers, as well as terraforming their world, but it was not limitless, and gradually became depleted. The first beings learned that the All Spark's power could be replenished by harvesting the energy of stars, but they were unable to locate new stars to suit their purposes, despite their amazing ability to travel between dimensions. Once again, the Cube came to the rescue, creating a race of workers who had the ability to change their shape.

Jetfire was among the very first of these new beings, a "[[Seeker (ROTF)|Seeker]]" with the ability to travel across the vastness of space in search of new suns. Once located, he would lead others and his masters back to it so a [[Solar harvester|harvester]] could be constructed to drain the energy of these stars, thus replenishing the All Spark. {{Storylink|Defiance issue 4|Defiance #4}} It is assumed that at some point during the civil war on Cybertron, he sided with [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]], the new protege of Jetfire's only surviving ancient master, [[The Fallen]].

Jetfire was one of the Seekers dispatched by The Fallen to locate the [[Matrix of Leadership]] after the [[Dynasty of Primes]] hid it on Earth. However, Jetfire and the other Seekers were unable to locate the [[Tomb of the Primes|Tomb]] that the Primes had forged. The only clue they could find was a riddle: "When dawn alights the Dagger's tip, Three Kings will show the way". Eventually, the Fallen abandoned the Seekers and they were forced to go into stasis lock out of a lack of energon.

For many years, a dormant Jetfire had hidden in his alternate mode at the [[wikipedia:Smithsonian Institution|Smithsonian]] [[wikipedia:National Air and Space Museum|National Air and Space Museum]]'s [[wikipedia:Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center|Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center]], until [[Seymour Simmons]], [[Sam Witwicky]], [[Mikaela Banes]], [[Leo Spitz]] and [[Wheelie (ROTF)|Wheelie]] broke in with a small fragment of the [[All Spark]]. The surge of energy awoke him, and the cantankerous old robot wandered outside, pausing only to bang his head on the door. Confused and disoriented, Jetfire wandered about, going on that he had a mission but could not remember what it was. Only the efforts of the [[human]]s and an [[Wheelie (ROTF)|ex-Decepticon]] brought his senses back. Jetfire inquired on the state of the civil war, and revealed that he had defected to the Autobots (it's an intensely personal decision). This led the smaller Wheelie to defect to a [[Mikaela Banes|human female]] he dubbed "Warrior Goddess". After turning back to the conversation, an annoyed Jetfire shouted that he had a lot of issues regarding his mother, and that his father was the first wheel, who did not transform but performed his functions with honor and dignity. At which point a parachute stored in him suddenly popped open, bringing him down. Sam then tried to explain what was going on.

When Sam was finished carving [[Cyberglyphics|Cybertronian symbols]] on the ground, he mentioned Megatron and [[The Fallen]]. Jetfire said that The Fallen had assigned him his mission, but then left him to rust. The symbols were a part of his mission, and he teleported the entire group (including [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]], [[Skids (ROTF)|the]] [[Mudflap (ROTF)|twins]], and Wheelie) to [[Egypt]]. Jetfire then told them the story of the Dynasty of Primes and The Fallen, Cybertron's first contact with Earth, the [[solar harvester]] which could destroy a [[Sun]] and convert it to energon, and the Matrix of Leadership needed to activate it, hidden on Earth. He revealed that only a [[Prime (rank)|Prime]] could kill The Fallen, but he believed that none were left. Sam told him of [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]]; this caught the ancient Seeker's interest, and he was distraught to hear of Prime's death. Sam then wondered if the Matrix could restore Optimus to life. Jetfire said it was not its intended use, but that the power within was unlike any known. Sadly, this was all Jetfire could do for the group, and he urged them to hurry off and find the [[Tomb of the Primes]].

During the final battle around the [[Pyramid|Great Pyramid of Giza]] (which contained the Solar Harvester), Jetfire arrived and attempted to "stick" the landing, which didn't go quite as he planned. He immediately decided to "show how they brought the pain in my day", slicing [[Mixmaster (ROTF)|Mixmaster]] in half, and crushing his upper torso. He was critically wounded by a surprise attack from [[Scorponok (Movie)|Scorponok]] and although he managed to kill the Decepticon, the injury was fatal. Fortunately, Jetfire was treated to one last wonder, as Sam Witwicky used the Matrix to resurrect Optimus, and Jetfire could hardly believe that he was seeing a living [[Prime (rank)|Prime]]. Unfortunately, The Fallen teleported in and attacked, stealing the Matrix and placing it in the harvester. As he lay dying, Jetfire, who felt that during his entire life he'd never done a thing worth doing, offered his part to the resurrected Optimus Prime, saying that they would give him "a power like you've never known". Telling Optimus to fulfill his destiny, Jetfire ripped out his spark core and died.

Jetfire's sacrifice was not in vain: within moments of his death, [[Ratchet (Movie)|Ratchet]] instructed [[Jolt (ROTF)|Jolt]] to begin a full transplant of the afterburners and weapons systems onto Optimus. Now equipped with Jetfire's powerful weapons and engines, Optimus broke through a blockade of debris The Fallen had telekinetically erected around the Pyramid and destroyed the Solar Harvester before it could be used against the Earth's Sun. Prime then faced the Fallen and Megatron, using his afterburners to send Megatron flying through some ruins. During the battle, The Fallen pulled off the left wing and afterburner, using them to strike Prime in the face, but Optimus ultimately triumphed and ripped out the Fallen's spark core, killing the treacherous Prime. After the battle, Optimus quickly detached Jetfire's parts. {{storylink|Revenge of the Fallen (film)|Revenge of the Fallen}}
* Jetfire's head was redesigned so [[Industrial Light & Magic]] could animate a smirk on the character. This early, mouthless head was still used for the toy designs and promotional art though.<ref>[http://vfxworld.com/?atype=articles&id=4003 Scott Farrar's VFXWorld interview]</ref>

* Jetfire's ancient Cybertronian vehicle mode as seen in [[IDW Publishing]]'s [[Defiance issue 4|''Defiance'' #4]] bears more than a passing similarity with the starship ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]'' from ''[[Beast Wars (franchise)|Beast Wars]]''.

* Jetfire is one of the few movie Transformers to mention having [[Relatives|a family]]; in fact, he claims his father was ''the'' wheel.

* In the film, Jetfire seemed to say that the reason he was extremely "elderly" was that he has gone for too long without an adequate supply of energon. Well, the fact that he was one of the first Transformers ever to live probably contributes a little; but at least the low energon explains why he is 'slowly falling apart and dying' as opposed to other 'old' bots like [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]].

*As seen in the movie, he can access a [[Space Bridge]] to transport himself and others across vast distances in mere moments. Apparently he's not very good at it though, as he ignores the fact that his teleportation attempt resulted in injury to all involved, and simply shows relief that they ended up on the right ''planet''. {{storylink|Revenge of the Fallen (film)}}

*While the Leader Class toy is advertised as being able to combine with [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] they do not combine in the movie itself, per se. Jetfire merely kills himself so that Optimus Prime can ''wear'' the parts of his corpse as extra armor and weaponry. That's right, he's [[kibble]].

*The presence of other Seekers scattered across the world is confirmed by Wheelie. However, outside of [[Ransack (ROTF)|Ransack]]'s appearance in the novel adaptation and [[Transformers (Titan Magazine)|Titan comics]], Jetfire is the only one to play any role. You'd think a bunch of ancient, dormant Transformers scattered across the United States would be a concern.

*Amusingly, his Leader class figure's kibble likes to fall off during transformation. It makes him a little more screen accurate, after all...
I recently got this and thought there was somet stuff worth noting... I don't know whether I've got what is now the standard, or something specifically "UK". I ordered it off Amazon UK and I've seen the same thing in Forbidden Planet here. Anyway, whatever it is, it has the small smoke stacks, no shiny chromy bits, and much more simplistic paintwork than the battledamaged US release. The Ion Blaster is also a mix of blue, silver and yellow as opposed to black or grey. Oh it comes with a talking stand too, although it's rather obviously not Peter Cullen they recorded... Something I was also curious about is the pair of voice communicators in his arms. On mine he has a sticker of Grimlock on the right, and Megatron on the left, however, the box shows Starscream. ::I know, but Titanium has transformable toys, at least. I think the best definition would be toys=sold directly by Hasbro/takara, that would make Revoltech a merchandise. But what about McDonald Toys, then? Anyway, even if the difference between Merchandise and toys became kind of blur for Mc Donald, [[Titanium]], and Even [[Action Master]], Revoltech is not sell directly by Takara/Hasbro, and neither does it transform. Puls, while the Action Master figures (usually) didn't transform, their weapons or vehicles ''did'', and they were a mainline to boot.
If we must have a clear criterion, I think "produced by Hasbro/Takara" may be the best we can do. And yes, that would mean moving most promotional toys like Happy Meals out of "toys" and into something else. Sadly, it would also affect toys made by GiG in Italy or by Estrela in Brazil, without some sort of concession. <s>Those were at least the same molds, so, we could base it on who owned the rights to the tooling at the time the item was produced, since GiG and Estrela were licensing them but wouldn't have owned them. (Not who ''made'' the original tooling, since then toys like Omega Supreme and Roadbuster are out.)</s>
:Hasbro '''owned''' the Bandai tooling used to filled out the line in 1985? --[[User:Rotty|Rotty]] 21:55, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Personally though I would rather not have a set rule for it, and instead decide things case by case. We could keep a list in the help pages of what items "count" as toys and what items don't. It's a subjective thing, but, I think we'll end up with the smallest number of silly categorizations that way. As Rotty says, I can't imagine any definition of the word "toy" that would exclude a Revoltech figure. They are nothing like Metalforce Prime. Metalforce is, IMO, very much in the "statue" area and not the "toy" area. A 3" Titanium is pretty much just a statue too, to me, but a SCF/HoC PVC figurine is moving closer to "toy".
--[[User:Steve-o|Steve-o]] 21:37, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

:I basically agree with Steve. The line between the two is fuzzy, but I feel that most everybody would agree with decisions, in this case, made somewhat arbitrarily. I don't think it's too hard to easily discern what was produced to be played with, and what was produced to be a display piece. --[[User:Sntint|Sntint]] 21:44, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
::Yeah, I think we can come up with a pretty good definition in that toys are designed to be played with. You can say of them that they have a "play pattern", as I did at [[Multi-property brand]]. So figures that transform into something else are toys. If you play with them by having them interact with vehicles and accessories, also toys. [[Attacktix]], [[Built to Rule]], [[MyClone]], [[Revoltech]], those are also meant to be played with. There's really no way to play with 3" Titaniums, but it would be nice to keep [[Titanium Series]] entirely under Toys when the same character has both 6" and 3" figures. 3" Titaniums and SCFs are a gray area. --[[User:Rotty|Rotty]] 21:53, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

I wonder if Hasbro and Takara have some exact standard by which they determine what's a toy and what's merchandise? Perhaps toys tend to belong to "lines" or assortments, whereas merchandise tends to be a one-off item? There is an assortment of Titaniums, there is certainly an assortment of actual main-line figures, but there is only one Optimash Prime? Certainly we cannot strictly use the amount of "one", but perhaps this is where we can be arbitrary, if not being wholly arbitrary? There are only two Softformers, only one Metalforce... I suppose Masterpiece now has enough items to be considered a line? --[[User:Sntint|Sntint]] 22:17, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
However, I don't know what this small difference is supposed to be, since I only own the Japanese version myself.
Who the heck put all the snarky commentary in the sections for iPod Convoy, the Nike thing, the Pepsi things ect? I actually have a good idea who did it, but I'll refrain from naming names. For the most part, this article is meant to be informative in comparison to most articles on the wiki, so we should restrain ourselves from adding colour commentary and giving "cute" nicknames for the toys. I would also advise this person to stop displaying the toy images as large as possible. --[[User:FFN|FFN]] 05:14, 21 January 2008 (UTC)
:Dear FFN,
:PacifistPrime here.
:I'd like to clear up a few misconceptions. I am responsible for the so-called "snarky" comments that you have unilaterally excised, however, you are incorrect in describing them as having been "put" into the relevant sections such as Nike and iPod Convoy, because I originated all those sections myself in the first place. As the original author, the tone of my writing can hardly be described as an insertion or imposition to pre-existing material, since those whole sections were my own original contributions.
:Regarding the "naming of names", I don't know if I was the user you had in mind or not, but I'd appreciate it if you'd refrain from making this all sound like some clandestine snarkfest: I wrote the entries whilst logged in and never made any attempt to make my contribution anonymously.
:As to the "snarky commentary", with all due respect (and acknowledging you're doubtless a more frequent contributor than myself): Are you serious? One of the most pervasive and appealing things about this wiki is its sense of humour and light, joshing tone. My comments are satirical and jovial at worst, hardly snarky. I mean, honestly, you don't want us to become like the mirthless uptights over at Wookieepedia, do you?
:And I challenge you to dispute that my contributions on these toys aren't ''thoroughly'' informative. I believe that my wry comments in no way detract from the article's informativeness.
:Finally, if the image sizes are too large, I'm more than happy to concede that. I just made them a size which seemed adequately large to understand, but if you feel strongly otherwise, I don't much care on this point.
:Rather than just reverting your edits, I'm hoping we can discuss this. I'd be good if some other users will weigh in on this matter. I hope I am not out of line here, but I really believe that FFN's appraisal of my work (and his edits) are excessive (and somewhat contrary to the flavour of this wiki), especially as they have stood intact for several months.
:All the best,
::The problem is not me wanting to excise humour from the wiki (if you'll noted me in talk pages and on TFW2005, I am a staunch defender of the Wiki's tone and sense of humour), the problem is the jokes got in the way of conveying information with them starting off with commentary about Prime's corporate shilling and the various nicknames you gave to the toys. In any case, the number of jokes didn't fit the tone of the rest of the article, or really, the tone of the toy sections of the rest of the wiki. Now, I really do appreciate you for writing about the Japanese toys, but really, with humour sometimes less is more.
:::Well, FFN, what can I say? I disagree. I really don't think you can reasonably argue that the jokes were "getting in the way", as all the useful information was clearly there. Frankly, I think the running gag that Japanese Convoy is addicted to endorsement deals was a perfectly relevant bit of observational humour, given how obviously egregious 2007 was for this fact, and it's a damn shame to have it removed.
I do think the "nickames" for the toys are probably a bad idea. Since we're talking about Japanese-exclusive toys that American fans won't know much about, it's probably better to call them by their real names all the time to avoid confusion. --[[User:Steve-o|Steve-o]] 23:46, 31 January 2008 (UTC)
Please explain why this was cut. Is it ''not true''? Is it somehow not relevant in some bizarro-world way that I'm not seeing? -- [[User:Repowers|Repowers]] 19:53, 17 June 2009 (EDT)
:"The first Optimus Prime toy was the inspiration for lots of Optimus Prime toys later". NO SHIT, REALLY? Should it also BE NOTED THAT? --[[User:M Sipher|M Sipher]] 19:56, 17 June 2009 (EDT)
::It is also worth noting! - [[User:Chris McFeely|Chris McFeely]] 19:57, 17 June 2009 (EDT)
::Optimus Primes in every continuity family, Ultra Magnuses, evil clones, BW leaders, even a faction sigil or two... the toy has influence that ranges across the entire history of the brand, multiple characters, universes, and franchises. It's the root of a huge family tree. This may be obvious to you and me, sure, because we are all uber-robot geeks here. But there is nothing ''inherently'' obvious about it at all. If "obvious" is our criteria, why are we describing the toy at all?
:: (I was gonna contrast that with all the stuff we describe that can be PLAINLY SEEN FROM PHOTOGRAPHS OF THE TOY, but strangely enough we're missing photos of his alternate mode and trailer.) -- [[User:Repowers|Repowers]] 20:14, 17 June 2009 (EDT)
== Alternity? ==

Wasn't our Alternity section more expansive than this? Did we lose everything in the Bookworm Crash? --[[User:Detour|Detour]] 10:50, 4 July 2009 (EDT)
==The Trannies?==

The G2 Laser Optimus Prime section talks about "The Trannies" awards, and that the figure won twice, and also lost to its own repaint. Can anyone provide an insight to these awards? How were they decided, by whom, where, when, who won, when did they stop, etc? Presumably either on its own page or a suitable sub-section of someone else's (eg: if they were done by Hasbro, a section on the Hasbro page).
