Ravage was dispatched to NEST's [[United Kingdom|Scotland]] base to find, interrogate, and kill [[Skids (ROTF)|Skids]] and [[Mudflap (ROTF)|Mudflap]] before they could pass on information about the Decepticon plans. Easily breaking into one of the most secure bases on Earth, he went on to swiftly knock out [[Sideswipe (ROTF)|Sideswipe]] and attempt to rip into the twins. While they were able to evade him, Ravage shrugged off any attack and finally cornered Mudflap, broadcasting Soundwave's demands to him.

This, however, was a trap the twins had set up, and Ravage found himself trapped in a simulated combat exercise. From his vantage point high in orbit above Earth, Ravage's master [[Soundwave (ROTF)|Soundwave]] located the last remaining shard of the [[AllSpark]] in a [[NEST]] holding facility on [[Diego Garcia]], and dispatched Ravage to retrieve it. Launched from Soundwave's chest, Ravage plummeted through Earth's atmosphere in re-entry mode and impacted just off Diego Garcia's shore, bounding to land in the blink of an eye. Quickly and stealthily, the feline Decepticon knocked several of the base's security sensors offline to cover his approach, then proceeded to vomit a large quantity of [[Microcon (ROTF)|small, metallic spheres]] down a ventilation shaft. Once inside the base, the spheres transformed and combined into "[[Reedman]]", who successfully stole the shard and returned to the surface to reunite with Ravage. As the human soldiers attempted stop Reedman, Ravage provided cover fire, killing several humans in the process. The pair then made their escape.

Having secured the shard, Ravage traveled to the ''[[Bayos]]'', a human freighter carrying the [[Constructicon (ROTF)|Constructicons]] which was passing the area of the sea in which [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]] was buried. After diving over the side of the barge and reaching the bottom where Megatron's body rested, Ravage ejected [[Scalpel (ROTF)|the Doctor]] from a compartment in his chest. While the Constructicons began to tear apart "[[Scrapmetal (ROTF)|ze little one]]", Ravage was going for a swim, apparently enjoying the water, but quickly ended his little frolic when the Doctor demanded the shard. After the Doctor resurrected Megatron using the AllSpark shard, Ravage and the Constructicons swam up to the surface following their revived leader.

Some time later, Ravage joined the other Decepticons in searching for [[Sam Witwicky]] and the [[Matrix of Leadership]] amid some [[Egypt]]ian ruins. The forces of NEST soon arrived, and [[Operation: Firestorm|battle]] broke out, complicating their search. Spotting Sam, [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] instructed [[Rampage (ROTF)|Rampage]] to release [[Ron Witwicky|Ron]] and [[Judy Witwicky]]. Ravage jumped out of the Constructicon when he ejected the fleshlings, and went stalking. [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] managed to get the jump on Rampage, and Ravage in turn jumped on Bumblebee's head, clawing off part of his battle helmet. Unfortunately for Ravage, Bumblebee still had plenty of fight left in him, and he promptly dispatched the killer kitty by ''tearing out'' Ravage's own goo-covered spine. ''Ouch''. Subsequently, Ravage appeared outside [[Guantanamo Bay]], searching for a "new target". Ravage snuck in, found the remains of the [[appliancebot]]s and appropriated them. Ravage lept into the ocean to escape the military, who had located him.

Ravage emerged on a beach near [[MacDill Air Force Base]]. Though he curled up on the ground to wait for further instructions from his unknown benefactor, he was once again discovered. Ravage destroyed several helicopters before being surrounded by soldiers and jeeps. To bolster his defensive, he unleashed [[Reedman]], and although the smaller robot was eventually taken down, it provided the distraction needed to allow Ravage to escape into a [[Kingdom Petrochemicals|petrochemical plant]].

Deciding the relatively subtle approach wasn't working, officials at the White House asked the [[President of the United States]] for permission to level the plant. As the explosion engulfed the plant, Ravage tried to conceal himself beneath its foundation. Ravage's attempt to survive was mostly successful; his damaged form was still online, waiting in a pit beneath the rubble for new instructions. Shortly after, Soundwave, disturbed by Ravage's reactivation, dispatched a quartet of minions ([[Buzzsaw (ROTF)|Buzzsaw]], [[Rumble (ROTF)|Rumble]], [[Beastbox (ROTF)|Beastbox]] and [[Ratbat (ROTF)|Ratbat]]) to investigate. This soon erupted into a conflict with cleanup crews and Autobot reinforcements, which prompted Soundwave to intervene. Although the battle resulted in several casualities on both sides, Ravage was undisturbed. While the other Decepticons retreated, [[Buzzsaw (ROTF)|Buzzsaw]] stuck around to tend to Ravage. {{storylink|Nefarious issue 1|Nefarious #1}} Buzzsaw managed to get Ravage operational, and the pair burst out of the ruins of the petrochemical plant, surprising an NSA team which was investigating the disaster zone. Ravage subsequently accompanied Soundwave in going to the aid of a Decepticon team in [[Wendover]], under attack by Autobot forces. While the Constructicons began to tear apart "[[Scrapmetal (ROTF)|ze little one]]", Ravage was going for a swim, apparently enjoying the water, but quickly ended his little frolic when the Doctor demanded the shard. Tired of the Maximals using his world as a playground and getting fed up with Thrust's inability to handle them, Megatron selected two Sparks to be his new generals. When Thrust first saw Obsidian and Strika, he remarked "Very nice, boss. Very very nice." However, the feeling wasn't mutual, as Thrust discovered when he started to inform the new guys of their enemies—and was batted away by Obsidian, bouncing off the wall and sliding to a halt at his "feet".

Obsidian was quick to act against the Maximals, ambushing [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]] and [[Nightscream (BM)|Nightscream]] with Strika. Screaming "Obliterate!" repeatedly, he pursued Silverbolt but was tackled by [[Optimus Primal]], sending both crashing into the ground. When Optimus tried to reason with him, Obsidian merely fired at him and transformed, escaping into the city. He rendezvoused with Strika and let the Maximals into a trap, as hundred of drones modeled after the two generals surrounded them. Transforming to robot mode, Obsidian remarked "Although he took his name from a great leader, Optimus Primal never learned the first rule of warfare: NEVER underestimate your opponent." The Maximals were able to escape the trap, but found all of their escape routes blocked by drones, [[Rattrap]] surprised at the number of drones and Optimus realizing that it wasn't number but tactics; their new opponents were master strategists. Forced to barricade themselves inside the Counsel Citadel, Primal realized that they had been herded there, at which point Obsidian contacted him and offered the Maximals the chance to surrender themselves. When Megatron began to enact his plan for the Sparks, Obsidian and Strika were stationed to watch over the ground and air around the BFH. While he didn't get to do much personally, Obsidian attempted to engage Savage/Noble in single combat, only to have one of his own drones smacked into him and then Strika thrown into him. After Megatron's seeming destruction, the generals were at a loss. The vain Obsidian, now an "ex-Autobot," supplanted the Predacon's rule with an iron-fisted tyranny of his own. Built at the same time as Obsidian, Strika remained silent as [[Thrust (BM)|Thrust]] admired the two new recruits (though she did give him a dirty look). Attacking a topside [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]] and [[Nightscream (BM)|Nightscream]], she went after the bat when they split up, grounding him with cannon fire. Before she could crush him, though, [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] dropped into her party and [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] trapped her in a web, though it didn't hold for long under her attempts to escape. Cheetor tried to reason with her, but she turned and sped off, reuniting with Obsidian. With the appearance of the new [[Emperor of Destruction]] Violen Jiger and his Nine Great Demon Generals, the war between the Autobots and Decepticons began a new phase.

For unknown reasons, the Generals Overlord, Abominus and Menasor obliterated planet [[Feminia]], nearly killing [[Star Saber (Victory)|Victory Saber]] in the process. After departing, they rejoined the other Generals in an empty area of outer space, where Overlord soon welcomed Violen Jiger's arrival.

Noting the apparent destruction of Victory Saber, Violen Jygar declared his intention to take over the galaxy and create a "Decepticon Zone". In order to do this, he told his Generals to collect "super energy" for him by any means necessary.

To acquire the special energy [[Energon Z]], Overlord, Abominus, Bruticus and Menasor attacked the planet [[Micro|Zone]] while the [[Powered Master]]s were away. After tearing the Energon Z capsule out from [[Rocket Base]], they flew off into space, where General Black Zarak took care of the pursuing [[Micromaster|Microtransformers]] in the Galaxy Rocket. The Energon Z capsule was installed in General Trypticon, granting him a powerful new attack called the [[Energon Z Beam]].

Generals Devastator, King Poseidon, Predaking, and Trypticon then attacked Earth, looking for the [[Zodiac]] energy. A group of Microtransformers fared badly in trying to stop them, but relief soon came in the form of [[Sonic Bomber]] and the new Supreme Commander, [[Dai Atlas (Zone)|Dai Atlas]]!

While Giga and Mega were busy conducting their search for the Godmaster Transtectors, Devil Z resided in the underwater base occupied by the Pretenders, perched atop a tentacled dais from which he silently regarded his subjects. When [[Blood]] called upon his power to animate the first wave of [[Destroid]]s {{storylink|Terror! The Decepticons' Manhunt}} and to drive animals in [[Africa]] into a frenzy {{storylink|Panic! This failure did not sit well with Devil Z, who summoned BlackZarak back to Earth, only to have him forced back into space by Ginrai after a dramatic battle on the moon. {{storylink|God Ginrai - Showdown on the Surface of the Moon}} However, during this prolonged stay in space, BlackZarak mastered localised gravity manipulation, allowing him to create black holes which he used to teleport himself directly to Earth. Having now witnessed the untapped potential for power within human beings, Devil Z formulated "Operation M-2"—the complete destruction of humankind through use of the atmosphere-destroying "[[Death Para-Machine]]". Not long thereafter, when the Autobots invaded the Decepticon base, an outraged Devil Z played his trump card. Declaring that he would now reveal his true form to the assembled Autobots and Decepticons, Devil Z exploded with light, transforming first into a bizarre embryonic creature, and then into a sinister crimson mist that flowed into BlackZarak. Now in control of the powerful Decepticon's body and mind, Devil Z promptly collapsed the Decepticon base in a failed attempt to destroy the Autobots. {{storylink|The Ultimate Combination!! BlackZarak, the New Lifeform}} Subsequently, the Decepticons relocated to the Amazon, where the hybrid Devil Z/BlackZarak entity announced his intention to revisit his plan to wipe out mankind. For Devil Z's final attack on Earth, he moved the Decepticons to the peak of the Matterhorn in the Alps and unleashed his Devil Power over Europe. The Autobots again gave chase, and Ginrai once again bested Hydra and Buster in combat, leading the enraged Devil Z to take out his frustrations on the two brothers. As he lashed them with his spear and blasted them with energy beams, Overlord finally spoke out against his emperor, but his concern for his subordinate was met only with contempt. Able to bear no more, Overlord attempted to strike Devil Z, but was cut down by the giant Decepticon, and would have been destroyed had Ginrai not arrived in time to save him. Devil Z was kept busy by [[Sixknight]] while Ginrai got Overlord to safety, and by the time he had destroyed the Six Changer, Ginrai had returned to the mountain peak to face off against him. {{storylink|Malevolent and Inhuman! The True Form of Devil Z}} Uninterested in fighting Ginrai, Devil Z transformed BlackZarak to scorpion mode and attempted to depart, intending to head for Antarctica, where he had already planted an amplifier for his Devil Power that would allow him to eliminate mankind with ease. Ginrai, of course, did not let him leave without a fight, dragging him back down to the mountain and prompting Devil Z to inflict the ultimate punishment: he unleashed his Devil Power on Ginrai, intent on transforming him into a true robot as he had done with Hydra and Buster, removing from him the humanity he so coveted. Thankfully, Ginrai was rescued by [[Grand Maximus]], and his revenge was swift, as he punched BlackZarak's head clean off his shoulders.

The Autobots' believed that Devil Z was down, but the loss of his host's head did little to impede the alien's evil, and he simply transformed BlackZarak's body into a new serpentine form to continue the fight. At that point, Overlord appeared and opened fire on his leader, and Devil Z responded by killing Giga and Mega and bringing the Overlord Transtector to life as a true robot. Furious at the unrepentant evil of Devil Z, Ginrai merged his powers with those of the Autobot Headmaster Juniors, and unleashed a super-charged version of his God Fire Guts attack upon the villain, reducing BlackZarak's body to ashes. Without a host to contain it, the energy orb of Devil Z coalesced in front of Ginrai once more, growing to enormous size and raging impotently that the Godmasters were tools that would never be able to defeat their maker. Defiantly, Ginrai and the Juniors summoned up every ounce of their energy for the "Final Fire Guts" attack, and Ginrai dove like a flaming spear into the heart of Devil Z, who screamed and exploded in a coruscating wave of light and darkness.

At the sight of Devil Z's death, the surviving Decepticons immediately turned tail and fled into space. The aliens' death also severed the bond he had forged between the humans and their Transtectors, and the Autobots found themselves separated from their robot bodies. Using his mysterious powers, Violen Jiger resurrected BlackZarak to serve as his "Evil Spirit General," and outfitted him with new armor and weapons to make him more deadly that ever before. It was never explicitly stated if he possessed the consciousness of Scorponok or Devil Z, but he seemed to have a serious ''pirate''-vibe going on, now sporting a hook for a hand and an eye-patch.

BlackZarak was part of the team of generals who attacked planet [[Micro|Zone]] in order to steal its precious [[Energon Z]] for Violen Jiger's schemes, but BlackZarak refrained from participating in the assault, hanging back on the fringes of the planet's atmosphere to cover his allies' rear. As his fellow generals made good their escape with the Energon Z in hand, BlackZarak barred the way of the [[Super Car Patrol Team]] and [[Battle Patrol]] as they attempted to pursue in the [[Rocket Base|Galaxy Rocket]]. The Demon General managed to trap the rocket in a crackling field of electricity, and then departed to rejoin his fellow Decepticons, leaving the electric net to slowly destroy the rocket. Devil Z came into contact with Giga and Mega when the couple drowned at sea, and he elected to use his powers to resurrect them as his emissaries and servants. {{storylink|The Birth of the Super Lifeforms}} At first, he left most of the work up to them, clinging to the shadows, handing down commands without ever being seen, and being spoken of only rarely by his subordinates. Exactly where he was based was never revealed; he does not appear to have remained on Earth after awakening.

When the Decepticons' attempt to defeat the Autobots with holograms of legendary Decepticons from years past failed, Buster inquired if there were any ''real'' troops they could call on, and Giga announced that they would have to wait for Devil Z's order. {{storylink|Burn, Super Soul! The New Commander Super Ginrai!}} The order came soon, as he instructed the Decepticons on Earth to join forces with the space-based Decepticon forces and attack the Autobots on [[Athenia]]. In this form, Devil Z appeared during a battle between Ginrai and the other Decepticons, and transformed BlackZarak's body into a new serpentine mode as everyone looked on in shock. Devil Z then turned on the other Decepticons, and attempted to drain theirs and Ginrai's Jinchōkon, intending to absorb it and thereby transform ''himself'' into the ultimate lifeform. His absorption beam was blocked by the sudden arrival of the wholly-robotic Autobot Pretenders, saving Ginrai and the Decepticons from a nasty fate, and the Decepticons all decided to join with the Autobots to defeat their treacherous former master. Climbing aboard Grand Maximus, all the Transformers united their energies in the "Perfect Transform Attack", and the super-charged Grand Maximus charged into Devil Z, destroying him and BlackZarak for good in a blinding explosion of pure Chōkon Power.

The death of Devil Z resulted in the bond he had forged between the humans and their Transtectors being severed, causing the humans to be separated from their robot bodies, and the Transtectors to come to life as true super-robot lifeforms. Additionally, his destruction caused the energies sustaining Giga and Mega to cease, and they died along with him. In the year 2011, the Transformers finally moved their eternal war off of [[Earth]], battling instead in a series of space-based exchanges between the [[Autobot]]s' headquarters on [[Athenia]] and the [[Decepticon]]s' base on [[Chaar]]. The super-science of the planet [[Master (planet)|Master]] forms the backbone of the conflict, which consequently became known as the '''Master Wars'''.

Following their final defeat in a battle at the [[Arctic|North Pole]], the Decepticons under the command of [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] finally retreated from the Earth once and for all. {{storylink|The Final Showdown on Earth (Part 2)}} They were pursued into space by the Autobot army led by [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress]], and there, their battles continued, supported and intensified by the advanced technology developed by the Transformers on planet Master. It was not long before the Autobots achieved superiority in the conflict, since the Decepticons were without strong battlefield leadership after the destruction of Scorponok's Transtector. <ref name=masterfile>[http://www.allspark.com/content/view/730/37/ Master File #1 in English on the Allspark] </ref>

Both the Autobots' and Decepticons' [[space bridge]] network had previously been destroyed, {{storylink|Daniel Faces His Biggest Crisis Ever!!}} and so access to Earth was almost completely cut off, keeping the planet comparatively safe. Just to be safe, the Autobot [[Trainbot]]s—some of the few Autobots able to traverse interstellar distances under their own power—periodically checked in on the Earth, observing that a team of Autobot [[Pretender]]s led by [[Metalhawk]] were active in secret on the planet (and, in actuality, had been for thousands of years). Unfortunately, a great evil was secretly brewing on Earth without the Autobots' knowledge: the mysterious alien energy-entity, [[Devil Z]], had awoken from a slumber beneath the Earth's oceans, and set about taking control of the Decepticons for his own wicked ends. <ref name=masterfile/> Abducting and brainwashing Scorponok, he placed the Decepticon leader, and by extension the whole army, under his control. {{storylink|Shūta and Grand's Masterforce Super-Secrets!}}

The Autobots became aware of Devil Z's shadowy movements thanks to the former Decepticon [[Sixshot]], who learned of his existence and sent a cryptic warning to his former enemies. At the same time, the Trainbots were returning from their latest voyage to Earth, and caught the first glimpse of Scorponok's new Transtector, "BlackZarak", hidden in a meteor cluster. With the Decepticons now active in space again and the Autobots unable to spare any of their fighting forces to deal with the problems arising on Earth, six Transtectors and six sets of [[Master-Brace]]s were dispatched to [[Metalhawk]] by [[Chromedome]], so that he could bestow them upon humans and allow them to become Transformers to defend their own planet against the Decepticon threat. <ref name=masterfile/>

As the [[Masterforce War]] between Metalhawk's Autobots and the Decepticons under Devil Z's command on Earth erupted, the Master Wars themselves continued to rage in space, {{storylink|Birth!
