Dr. Jones arrives at [[Ocean City]] to push for and oversee his [[energon tower (building)|energon tower]] project, to Kicker's surprise. The project gets underway with [[Earth Federation]] backing and massive work crews both [[human]] and [[Transformer]]. Kicker notes that it's the biggest project "since building [[Armed City]]".

Alexis reports to Dr. Jones about incoming supplies, and recalls the terror of Unicron. She offers to help get more personnel, but Dr. Jones says that it's not necessary. By re-using existing structures, they expect the project to take about a week.

Sally and Mrs. Jones return to Ocean City, wondering if Dr. Jones and Kicker will get along this time. Kicker is worrying to Optimus Prime about a possible attack during the construction, when Dr. Jones comes looking for him, annoying him by calling him "Junior". Kicker turns him down for lunch and leaves with Misha.

Soon the time comes to return to Unicron. Megatron vows to create a new mobile fortress, and does so. Within Unicron, Megatron has [[Energon Sword|his sword]] recreated into a more powerful weapon. Demolishor is thrown slightly for a loop by when Megatron questions him about Ocean City; Megatron then orders the Decepticons to attack while Prime is stationed there. Alpha Q observes the [[Decepticon]]s leaving Unicron aboard the mobile fortress, and figures it's the perfect chance to steal back the energon, dispatching [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcon]]s.

Kicker has traveled with Misha to [[Jungle City]], anxious to get away from his dad. He detects an incoming attack. Ocean City braces for attack.

Demolishor winds up facing off with Ironhide, and hesitates till he's goaded into action by Megatron.

Ironhide breaks off from the battle to pursue Scorponok. Dr. Jones leaves a shelter in the middle of the fight to go help, with Sally following. Ironhide contacts Kicker, who ignores him. Sally follows up, telling him that their dad is injured.

The Transformers square off: Jetfire vs. Scorponok, Inferno and Hot Shot vs. Tidal Wave; Demolishor vs. Ironhide; Prime vs. Megatron. Megatron taunts Prime that Unicron's revival is already underway.

Alpha Q and Starscream observe the Terrorcons returning from Unicron's body, loaded with energon for Unicron's revival.

Scorponok attacks him, but suddenly a huge tower begins to arise from Ocean City. It sends a beam into the sky, enhanced by a team of Signal Flares. Something huge emerges from the sky—the [[energon tower (building)|energon tower]]! It lands and connects with the energon tower, glowing red with energy. The pulses begin destroying the Terrorcons, and Megatron orders a retreat. Dr. Jones emerges, alive and well, and rejoicing in the energy pulses washing over the city.

Kicker yells at Sally for lying about their dad being injured; she counters that it was the only way to get him to return. Dr. Jones explains his "energon shockwave assault" to the Autobots. Prime worries that, having seen the energon tower, Megatron will be back soon.

Megatron angrily wonders how the Autobots built the tower without him finding out. And Alpha Q observes as Unicron's head flickers with new energy; it won't be long now...

A ''huge'' number of backgrounds were not finished for the dub version of this episode. Most of the time, an adequate substitute was used (in fact it's not clear why some of them even needed to be changed), but in a couple of places it makes the story less clear.

* ''Super Link'' and ''Energon'' use differents opening shots of [[Ocean City]], and again when Sally and her mom arrive.
* The dub takes an idle thought by Kicker about how "each of the armed cities" will have its own Energon Tower, and turns it into the wildly nonsensical statement that "this was the biggest project since the construction of [[Armed City]]".
* Immediately after, Kicker's impressed thought that "I never would have thought of that" gets dub-mutilated into a scornful "I don't know ''what'' these people are thinking."
* In the dub, the cables that attach Megatron to Unicron are missing their color. ''Super Link'' also adds some glow effects to the cables as they power up, and likewise to Megatron's eyes.
* The dub makes Megatron's dialog while creating the new mobile fortress somewhat at odds with the animation. He proclaims "we WILL create a new fortress", only for it to happen just a second later; he then orders the Terrorcons to "seek out what will be your new home", as if it wasn't right there in front of them. In ''Super Link'', he simply orders Unicron to create the fortress, then tells the Terrorcons that it is their home now.
* Demolishor's statement that he's spent a lot of time away (quoted above) was originally a statement that ''Optimus Prime'' often leaves Ocean City, and might not be there.
* ''Super Link'' features full coloration on the demonic faces that briefly appear around Megatron's sword. They also glow green before exploding. In the dub, they're simply shaded blue.
* Alpha Q's "no one here but us!" is, of course, a dub flub, since Alpha Q isn't in Unicron's body.
* ''Super Link'' features new establishing shots of [[Jungle City]], scrolling through cliffs and showing the tower under construciton. ''Energon'' recycles some still shots of the ancient pyramids instead.
* Kicker's thought "you don't know the half of it" is purely a dub addition.

* ''Energon'' lacks any animation to show the suborbital top of the tower activating. In ''Super Link'', a different background painting is used, with red energon pulses.

One million years ago, [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] was at relative peace. Most Transformers were nothing more than citizens of the planet, the [[Autobot]] army simply guarded the majestic [[Cyber City]], and no one had heard of "Decepticons." The standard-sized Transformers lived alongside villages of the smaller-sized [[Mini-Con]]s, and all of them were caught unawares by the sudden rise of Megatron. He and his soldiers came seemingly out of nowhere, sweeping through Mini-Con villages and performing horrible experiments on the diminutive Transformers. The Decepticons had discovered how to rewire Mini-Cons to interface with them, [[Powerlinx|drawing power]] from their new slaves. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 1}}

After capturing all but [[Sparkplug (Armada)|a]] [[Air Defense Mini-Con Team (Armada)|handful]] of Mini-Cons, Megatron and his enhanced troops assaulted Cyber City, defeating the Autobots in a single battle. But while Optimus Prime's forces retreated, the rogue Mini-Cons infiltrated Decepticon headquarters and spirited all of their imprisoned brethren away in a [[Exodus (Armada)|spaceship]]. Despite this loss, the Decepticons still held the power of the Mini-Cons they had been using in the battle of Cyber City, and this gave them continual combat superiority. Cybertron was completely unprepared for Megatron's assault; thousands of citizens submitted themselves to slavery. At some point, Prime would recall having heard about Megatron for the first time while he (Prime) was still in [[Cybertronian Military Academy|military academy]]. Prime said that the rumors surrounding Megatron were positive: that he was an unbeatable warrior with an unrivalled intellect. But Megatron soon turned his abilities against the Cybertronian governments, raising the Decepticon army in a march of conquest. After Prime's first field mission, he witnessed Megatron's ruthlessness in the form of a devastated energon refinery filled with the dead and dying. Over the next million years, the Mini-Con empowered Decepticons steadily conquered the planet. Concerned that the conflict could escalate and put other worlds at risk, the [[Universal Peacekeeping Committee]] sent the famed mediator [[Fflaxl]] to the relatively unknown Transformer homeworld in an attempt to settle the dispute between the Autobot and Decepticon "tribes" peacefully. However, just as he arrived, Megatron and Optimus Prime were in the midst of a battle, and Optimus Prime was sent flying, eventually landing on [[Bix]], Fflaxl's bodyguard. The diplomat, seeing the scale of the war and its participants, decided that some conflicts were best left untouched and that everything would work out in the end. {{storylink|Armada Preview}}

The situation changed drastically when when [[Rad White|some]] [[Alexis Thi Dang|human]] [[Carlos Lopez|children]] stumbled upon the crashed Mini-Con ship on the distant world of [[Earth]] and activated a distress beacon. The Decepticons, controlling Cybertron's communications satellites, intercepted the signal and mounted a [[Space bridge|spacebridge]] assault on Earth. Meanwhile, the Autobots, having hacked into the communications system, also saw the signal and made a spacebridge trip of their own. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 3}} Megatron thinking nothing of rampaging across an inhabited planet that had nothing to do with the Cybertronian civil war, attacked Sparkplug's group and their new human friends in [[Science City]], declaring that for escaping his grasp, he would not simply rewire them for powerlinking, he would take them apart piece by piece. Fortunately, the Mini-Cons and the children inadvertently led the Decepticons to an Autobot ambush, and the two forces inevitably clashed. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 4}} Megatron was furious that Prime had still refused to bow down to him despite all the losses the Autobots had suffered, and arrogantly powerlinked with all the Mini-Cons the Decepticons had at their disposal, leaving his lieutenants vulnerable. Megatron, however, was undeterred by the Mini-Cons' newfound resistance. In addition to the Mini-Cons he had maintained lordship over for millennia, Megatron also gained control of the [[Air Defense Mini-Con Team (Armada)|Air Defense Team]], reconfigured them and warped them into the mighty [[Star Saber (Armada)|Dark Saber]] sword. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 6}} Gloating over his newfound power, Megatron lead an attack on [[Lincoln]], [[South Dakota]] to draw the Autobots out of [[Autobase|Autobase: Earth]], but but was unable to effectively wield it, partly became his own Mini-Con [[Leader-1 (Armada)|Leader-1]] wasn't giving him enough power to control it, and he lacked respect for the sword's power. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 7}} Soon after, all activated Mini-Cons on Earth were "summoned" by a myterious obelisk that landed in [[Tranquility, Kansas|Tranquility]], [[Kansas]], and the Decepticons followed, intending to scoop up all the known Mini-Cons in one fell swoop. He came out of this with the Destruction Mini-Con Team as his prisoners, only to find they had a failsafe in their systems that gave out both unfettered power and incredible pain to anyone powerlinking to them by force. Having tasted that power, Megatron was unwilling to let it go, and so actually made a deal with [[Dualor]] in return for it, allowing the Destruction team a say in how the Decepticons would operate, ''even though'' he knew they would end up betraying him. With this in mind, he used [[Cyclonus (Armada)|Cyclonus]] as a guinea pig. Meanwhile, [[Skywarp (Armada)|Skywarp]], [[Sideways (RID)|Sideways]] and [[Wheeljack (Armada)|Wheeljack]]'s group in [[Death Valley]], [[California]] had launched the [[Solar Scalpel]], Megatron's new solar ray-reflective superweapon. {{storylink|Fire & Ice}} As he suspected, the Destruction Team did not keep their end of the bargain and overloaded Cyclonus with uncontrollable power. Still he had "bigger fish to fry": a group of Mini-Con escapees from the Moon had crashed in [[Alaska]] and an [[Autobot shuttle]] had been sent to rescue them. Though he could have easily destroyed the Autobots with one shot, he intentionally missed and only destroyed their shuttle, arrogant in the belief that the victory would be so much more satisfying if the Autobots could see their imminent destruction. Once again, Megatron's hubris was his undoing, as the Autobot-allied [[Space Mini-Con Team]] destroyed the Solar Scalpel before it could be used to harm the Autobots or the Mini-Cons. At some point, Megatron somehow gained even more power and a new paint job, rechristening himself "Galvatron". By itself, this new form was more powerful than his old body ''with'' Mini-Con enhancement. Still refusing to accept any limits, Galvatron discarded Leader-1 and sought to create the ultimate Mini-Con in his place. He began with [[Clench (Armada)|Clench]] and "upgraded" him with parts extracted from other victims. Clench took to his servitude gladly, grateful for the power of his new body. This was just one example of Galvatron's increased ability to manipulate those around him to serve his own ends. When [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] suddenly vanished, Megatron led an attack on Autobase: Earth, seriously trashing [[Red Alert (Armada)|Red Alert]] and [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]], and critically wounding [[Smokescreen (Armada)|Smokescreen]] in the process. This was disrupted by the machinations of [[Unicron]], whose heralds took out the Decepticons' Cybertron base and Earth forces. {{storylink|Worlds Collide, Part 2 of 4}} Megatron fought a vicious battle to the death with [[Galvatron (G1)|an immensely powerful herald]], and despite his best efforts, the being was not fazed even when attacked with Leader-1's powerlink augmentation. Megatron would have been destroyed if not for the intervention of the Air Defense Team, who formed the Star Saber (corrupted as the Dark Saber) once again. The herald was swiftly defeated {{storylink|Worlds Collide, Part 3 of 4}} and was torn apart out of sheer spite. Regrouping after this, he formed an alliance with the returned Optimus to get "payback." The Decepticons joined the Autobots and Mini-Cons in battling Unicron, who emerged from another dimension via a portal close to Cybertron. While almost all of the Transformers were pouring their efforts into a direct assault, Megatron covertly flew to Unicron's surface with the intent of striking a deal. Just as he was landing, [[Over-Run (Armada)|Over-Run]] opened the [[Mini-Con Matrix]] and dealt Unicron a critical blow. Megatron changed his plan to simple looting, but before he could even begin, Hot Shot, Red Alert, and [[Scavenger (Armada)|Scavenger]] shot him at pointblank range in revenge for Smokescreen. In secret, he constructed a new body for himself and, after teleporting Optimus Prime into Unicron and convincing him to shut down some sensors, returned to Earth and destroyed [[Scorponok (Energon)|Scorponok]]. [[Ironhide (Energon)|Ironhide]] was worried that Megatron would kill him too, but Megatron told him that he wanted him alive so that he could tell everyone that he had returned.

Millions of years ago, the civil war on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] reached a bloody stalemate as both Autobots and Decepticons augmented their forces with a race of small power-enhancing Transformers known as the [[Mini-Con|Mini-Cons]]. In the end, a truce was settled where the Mini-Cons would be exiled, never to be used as tools of war again. However, Megatron betrayed the truce, attacking with the full force of the Decepticon fleet in an attempt to capture all the Mini-Cons in one fell swoop. The Autobots, anticipating this turn of events, launched their fleet to protect the fleeing [[Exodus (Armada)|Mini-Con ship ]] as it warped away.

In the year 2010, Cybertron received a Mini-Con homing beacon from a small primitive world known as [[Earth]], unwittingly activated by a group of human children. Megatron led his most loyal Decepticon warriors to this planet in search of the Mini-Cons, only to discover his arch-enemy [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] had followed to stop him. {{storylink|First Encounter}}

After a tactical retreat, it was revealed that the Decepticons had established a base in the ruined hulk of the Mini-Con ship on Earth's [[Moon (moon)|Moon]]. While pondering his next move, Megatron discovered a [[Mini-Con storage panel]] buried in the moon dust. Activating it, he discovered it contained his old Mini-Con partner, [[Leader-1 (Armada)|Leader-1]]. Counting upon this as his edge over the Autobots, he reconfigured the vehicle modes of his forces and set out to capture the human children and their Mini-Con friends. After surrounding them, he was thwarted yet again by the timely arrival of Optimus Prime and the other Autobots. Through the machinations of his tactician, [[Thrust (Armada)|Thrust]] (who was at the time indirectly being manipulated by [[Unicron]]), Megatron then acquired the final weapon, the [[Requiem Blaster]], which with the other two served to power the newly-built [[Hydra Cannon]]. The destructive force of his new weapon was unleashed against Earth, but Optimus Prime took the blast to save the planet, killing himself in the process.

Prime's death plunged Megatron into a deep depression, having lost his greatest opponent without the chance to finish him with his own hands. Thankfully for all concerned, the Mini-Cons were able to resurrect Optimus, restoring Megatron to his former self - but he soon underwent another change that allowed him to surpass all he had been, when he was among the Transformers who had their powers boosted by their Mini-Cons. Renaming himself "Galvatron," he returned to Cybertron with a renewed vigor for conquest. However, the emergence of the threat of Unicron was ignored by Galvatron, forcing his lieutenant [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]] to sacrifice himself to make his leader see the truth, and Galvatron again came to fear the end of his war in the face of Unicron's power.

Galvatron entered Unicron's body along with Optimus Prime, and was absorbed into the demi-god's body and mind, but when the Autobots' human allies freed the Mini-Cons from Unicron's thrall, Galvatron too was freed. Believing the threat of Unicron to be over, he challenged Prime to a final duel. However, the energies released in the battle reawakened Unicron, and Galvatron saw that the only way to end the circle was to destroy himself - sacrificing his life rather than live in an era of peace, Galvatron plunged himself into Unicron's maw, and in a flash, the two seemingly ceased to exist.

Although he was believed dead by both the Autobots and Decepticons, Megatron, like Unicron, had survived the final battle, his body now a decayed husk, absorbed into the equally damaged body of Unicron, where it lay for ten years. When the being called [[Alpha Quintesson]] began his plan to re-energize Unicron, Megatron saw his opportunity, siphoning off some of the [[Energon (Energon)|energon]] that Alpha Q's [[Terrorcon (Energon)|Terrorcons]] stole, working towards his own rebirth. To turn the Decepticons to his side, Alpha Q forged a sword from Megatron's [[spark]], but when an enraged [[Scorponok (Energon)|Scorponok]] stabbed Megatron's corpse with the blade, Megatron was born anew. Taking the sword for his own, he proceeded to take over Unicron's body, sending Alpha Q fleeing in Unicron's head, {{storylink|Megatron Resurrected}} and restarted his campaign against Earth and the Autobots, seeking energon to reactivate Unicron, who he would use as the ultimate weapon.

Although [[Optimus Supreme]] was able to destroy Unicron's body, his mind lived on, buried within Megatron, subtly directing him to attack Cybertron and uncover a reservoir of Super Energon beneath the planet's surface. {{storylink|Ambition}} Megatron immersed himself in the powerful liquid and underwent another power boost, once again taking the name of Galvatron. {{storylink|Wishes}} Quickly acquiring control of the planet, he forced the Autobots underground with energon gas and used the planet's Energon Towers to relocate Cybertron to [[Alpha Q's universe|Alpha Q's region of space]]. {{storylink|Formidable}} Once there, Galvatron once again soaked himself in Super Energon, growing to a colossal height, {{storylink|Destructive Power}} but as he did so, Unicron's influence totally seized control of his mind and directed him out into space to re-merge with his spark. Enraged by Unicron's manipulations, Galvatron intended to destroy Unicron's spark, but wound up being possessed by it once more. Ten years later, Primus's plan to imprison Unicron's spark at the heart of the sun ultimately failed, leading the star to collapse, creating a [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]] which threatened the existence of Cybertron, and the rest of the universe. Escaping his confinement within the sun, Megatron enhanced his powers by merging his body with [[Armor of Unicron|the remnants of Unicron's shattered form]], increasing his power with the dark god's own.

As the Autobots prepared to evacuate Cybertron in the wake of disasters caused by the black hole, Megatron struck, approaching the unprotected ancient Transformer [[Vector Prime]], and stealing a holographic map containing locations of the [[Cyber Planet Key|Cyber Planet Keys]] that could be used to seal the black hole. Operating out of a fiery pocket dimension, Megatron schemed to used the world-shaping power of the Cyber Planet Keys and their focal [[Omega Lock]] to accelerate the universal degeneration created by the black hole, destroying the universe and using the keys to remake it in his own image. But before he could do this he had to face [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] once again. He almost had him but Scattorshot tryed to help but Megatron made them crash into each other and he shot a bolt of lightning at them. Vector Prime jumped at him but [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]] came and saved his {{storylink|Fallen (episode)|Fallen}}

Megatron and Starscream then headed for Earth to find out what the Autobots were up to. He was greated by Optimus, Vector Prime , [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]] and [[Hotshot (Armada)|Hotshot]] who managed to drive him away. {{storylink|Haven}}

Attempting to find the third key, Megatron discovered that he had been betrayed by Starscream when the planet map - in reality, a duplicate switched out by Starscream - led him to a dead sector of space and sealed him within a metallic sphere. {{storylink|Trap}} Scourge was able to liberate him a short time later, but in that time, Starscream had obtained the third Cyber Planet Key, from Earth, for himself, along with the Omega Lock and other keys. Megatron made a beeline for his treacherous lieutenant, but was intercepted by the Autobots [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]], [[Red Alert (Armada)|Red Alert]] and [[Scattorshot (Cybertron)|Scattorshot]], who intended to hold him off until the other Autobots could stop Starscream. Starscream's attempts to harness the Earth Key, however, caused a release of its energies which endowed Megatron with a new Cyber Key power - the "Death Machine Gun," which he used to mow down the Autobots in his path. {{storylink|Revelation (episode)|Revelation}}

The Autobots managed to retake the keys from Starscream, but a further attack from Megatron saw the Decepticon leader steal them out from under Optimus Prime's nose and retreat into his pocket dimension. Prime pursued him through the portal and defeated him in a pitched battle, reacquiring the lock and returning to Cybertron. As Megatron attempted to follow him, Vector Prime combined his portal-opening powers with the Cyber Planet Keys and collapsed Megatron's dimension in upon itself, destroying the villain. {{storylink|Cybertron (episode)|Cybertron}}

This was not to be the end for Megatron, however, as the power of his Unicron armor sustained him as a ghost-like entity composed of pure darkness. In this state, he rematerialized on Cybertron and used Unicron's reformatting powers to upgrade the injured Crumplezone into Dark Crumplezone. As he came under attack from the Autobot [[Overhaul (Cybertron)|Leobreaker]], his regeneration completed and his physical body was restored, even as he used the remainder of the lingering darkness to create an evil doppleganger of Leobreaker, [[Nemesis Breaker]], out of the Autobot's own dark thoughts. {{storylink|Darkness (episode)|Darkness}} Merging with Nemesis Breaker to form Dark Claw Mode, Megatron battled Optimus Prime and Leobreaker's Savage Claw Mode and made a further play for the Omega Lock, until news of the location of the fourth and final Cyber Planet Key led him to withdraw. {{storylink|Escape (episode)|Escape}}

Guided through a spatial warp by the mysterious [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]] to [[Gigantion]], the Giant Planet, home of the final key, Megatron engaged the world's leader, [[Metroplex (Cybertron)|Metroplex]], in battle. Much to his surprise, however, he was utterly defeated in seconds. {{storylink|Giant}} Consumed with rage, the power of Unicron within his armor reached out and detected the energies of the Giant Planet's Cyber Planet Key, drawing upon them and infusing Megatron's body with them. Attacking the Autobots in a dark, shadowed form, he decimated most of their forces before being confronted by Optimus Prime and completing his transformation - once again, Megatron had become Galvatron. {{storylink|Fury}}

After taking revenge on Metroplex, Galvatron joined the race to acquire the Giant Planet key, which included a rematch with the reborn Hot Shot, Red Alert and Scattorshot. Yet again, the Autobots were able to acquire the key, but Galvatron then stole the completed Omega Lock, only to be attacked by Starscream, who battled with Galvatron for possession of the artifact. Galvatron ultimately claimed victory in the battle, with the sheer amount of energy released in the clash actually blasting Starscream (along with [[Sideways (RID)|Sideways]] and Soundwave, who were trying to nick the lock) into another dimension. {{storylink|Showdown (episode)|Showdown}} With the lock and keys now in his hands, Galvatron returned to the Black Hole, using his newfound power to accelerate its spread throughout the universe. When the Autobots managed to return to Cybertron (thanks to Vector Prime's sacrifice), Galvatron attacked them with the intent of ending them once and for all. The Autobots were no match for his enhanced strength, but they soon recieved reinforcements in the form of every other Cybertronian in the universe, forcing Galvatron to fall back. {{storylink|Homecoming (episode)|Homecoming}}

Despite being heavily outnumbered by the united forces of the Autobots, Galvatron remained confident, using the power of the Omega Lock to super-size his few remaining minions. In the ensuing battle, he retreated to the very core of the singularity (currently absorbing the Jungle Planet), where he was confronted by the five planet leaders. Despite absorbing the power of the Lock and becoming a giant himself, Galvatron was eventually defeated by his enemies, forcing him to throw the Omega Lock and the Cyber Planet Keys into the very core of the black hole in hopes of destroying the universe anyway. Unfortunately for him, Optimus grabbed the Lock (with some otherworldly aid from Vector Prime), and Primus' Spark was finally restored, allowing him to use the Ark to finally seal the black hole for good. Adding insult to injury, Galvatron's depowered troops found out that he had every intention of letting them die with the rest of the universe, and so abandoned the defeated Decepticon leader in the void. {{storylink|End}}

Having had ultimate power, only to see it torn from his grasp, Galvatron contemplated giving up. He was then (somehow) taunted by Starscream's spirit, who said that if he was to give up just like that, then he was "no Unicron." Starscream vanished but stayed as a memory. His crown, left floating in space after his demise, came to Galvatron, who clenched it close. He realized that his former lieutenant was right (though he was loath to admit it), and decided to continue his conquest. Flying to Jungle Planet, Galvatron damaged one of the planetary engines pushing it back towards the Space Bridge before warping to Cybertron and challenging Optimus Prime to one final duel. Battling on first Cybertron's surface, and then its moon, Galvatron generated a massive blade of dark energy, which Prime countered with Vector Prime's sword. As the two old enemies charged towards each other in a final strike, Prime impaled Galvatron, whose body crumbled and dissolved as he met his end once and for all. {{storylink|Unfinished}}

Back when Megatron first started terrorizing the Mini-Con population of Cybertron, he leraned that Mini-Cons were hiding at Autobot Command HQ, and so he and his forces attacked the building. However, this was false information leaked to the Decepticons by [[Dualor]], who planned to assassinate Megatron by blowing the Autobot headquarters up. When the Autobots learned of this, they evacuated the building, distracting Megatron from entering the [[magno-web]] perimeter. As such, the ensuing explosion only served to knocked him over, which still made him furious. {{storylink|Panini Armada issue 9|Counter-Strike!}} A few million years later, Megatron was still fighting the Autobots long after most of the Mini-Cons had abandoned Cybertron. During one battle, he was very disappointed with [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]]'s ability to lose despite his Mini-Con augmentation, and threatened to take [[Swindle (Armada)|Swindle]] for himself. Suddenly, a Mini-Con activation from [[Earth]] reached Cybertron, and Megatron was the first to take a [[space bridge]] to the alien planet. Upon arrival he found [[High Wire (Armada)|High Wire]] and three [[human]]s, and quickly made it clear that he did not "come in peace". After voicing his intent to strip Earth of its resources after finding all the Mini-Cons, he made a grab for High Wire, but was stopped by [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]]. {{storylink|First Encounter!}}

Megatron's power-link with [[Leader-1 (Armada)|Leader-1]] allowed him to easily defeat his Prime and summon Starscream, [[Cyclonus (Armada)|Cyclonus]] and [[Demolishor (Armada)|Demolishor]] to Earth. He was busy contemplating the possibility of Mini-Cons on the [[Moon (moon)|Moon]] when [[Rad White]] confronted him and offered to lead him to the Mini-Cons' crashed ship in exchange for sparing Optimus Prime. Megatron laughed at him and explained that he didn't make "deals", and told the human to lead him to the ship before he became a wet spot on the ground. Rad's Mini-Con friends came to his aid, and after shooting and electrocuting Megatron had little effect, they power-linked with the arriving Autobots instead. With Prime now strengthened by [[Sparkplug (Armada)|Sparkplug]], Megatron opted for a temporary retreat. {{storylink|Panini Armada issue 2|Friends and Foes!}} The Decepticons attacked the Autobots again when they were attempting to send their Mini-Cons back to Cybertron. Rad hoped that Megatron would give up when the Mini-Cons left, but the Decepticon leader made it clear that he wasn't leaving Earth until he had captured all the remaining Mini-Cons. When it turned out that the Mini-Cons had stayed on Earth after all, Megatron saw no further need for battle and retreated, blowing the Autobots' space bridge up on the way. {{storylink|Panini Armada issue 4|No Way Back!}}

Following up on his earlier theory, Megatron traveled to the Moon in search of Mini-Cons. He ended up being confronted by [[Smokescreen (Armada)|Smokescreen]], [[Scavenger (Armada)|Scavenger]] and a hologram of [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]], who revealed that they had already saved all the Mini-Cons on the moon. After furiously clawing at the holographic Prime, Megatron retreated once again. {{storylink|Panini Armada issue 6|Between Two Worlds!}} However, he elected to stay on the Moon, where the Decepticons constructed a massive headquarters from which they planned to simply nuke [[Autobase]]. The Mini-Cons tried to negotiate with Megatron, offering to surrender themselves in exchange for sparing the Autobots. Again, Megatron didn't make deals, and decided to first capture the Mini-Cons then blow the Autobots away anyway. However, this gave the Autobots the time they needed to repair their space bridge and link it to the Decepticons' one, so when Megatron fired the missiles, they were warped straight back into his own short-lived base. {{storylink|Panini Armada issue 8|Earthshaker!}} To make matters worse, Cyclonus didn't return with the captured Mini-Cons, and Megatron took his frustration out on Demolishor. His mood was not improved when Cyclonus suddenly returned and began opening fire on what remained of the Decepticon base. Megatron and Optimus Prime were battling on a rooftop in Cybertron. As the final blow was about to be struck, suddenly the Mini-Con homing beacon appeared in front of them both. Realising it would reveal the location of the Mini-Cons,Megatron abandoned the battle and headed to Earth, along with his army of [[Decepticlone|Decepticlones]], and the Decepticons [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]], [[Cyclonus (Armada)|Cyclonus]], and [[Tidal Wave (Armada)|Tidal Wave]].
On Earth, Megatron established a base of operations inside a volcano on a pacific island. After defeating the other Decepticons, the Autobots arrived on the island and managed to find their way into the volcano's crater.

During the battle the volcano suddenly erupted, causing the Decepticon platform Megatron and the Autobots were fighting on to collapse. Megatron slipped and was left hanging over the lava pool. With the [[Autobot]]s needing to establish a base on [[Earth]], Lori offers up a chunk of canyon that her father was going to use for a housing development, but is currently going unused. [[Scattorshot (Cybertron)|Scattorshot]] gives the site a technical appraising and [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] approves the location. The Autobots begin going over the blueprints for the base, but [[Lori]] is loudly unimpressed by the cold, inefficient layout, and quickly redesigns the whole shebang. The Autobots don't really see the difference, but they all agree with her, rather than bring on her infamous wrath. As the Autobots begin blasting out the canyon wall to begin construction, Vector Prime returns his attention to the [[Atlantis Pattern]] and the search for the [[Omega Lock]], prompting the three kids to clutch their ears and demand he knock off the racket. Vector Prime realizes that they are hearing the trans-sonic signal given off by the Omega Lock, while the Transformers are unable to detect, and that the three humans are going to be even more important than he realized.

In the [[fire dimension]], [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]] urges [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]] to forget the Autobots and initiate the search for the [[Cyber Planet Key|Cyber Planet Keys]]. Megatron, however, is concerned that the Autobots are up to something on Earth, and is determined to find out what.

Back on Earth, the Autobots have hollowed out the canyon walls and initiated building work. [[Coby Hansen|Coby]] is drafted in to help set up the computer systems when he impresses [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] with his intuitive knowledge of machines, while [[Bud Hansen|Bud]] proposes the installation of a catapult to launch the flying Autobots into action at high speeds. While the boys are busy being hands-on, Lori ropes [[Overhaul (Cybertron)|Overhaul]] into helping her feng shui the base, and everyone's combined efforts gets the base successfully finished before sundown. Unfortunately, as soon as the base systems are brought online, alarms begin blaring as the approach of Megatron and Starscream through Earth's atmosphere is detected. With the [[stealth beam coating]] that will protect the base from external detection incomplete, Optimus Prime, Hot Shot, [[Vector Prime]] and [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]] head out to hold the two Decepticons off while the other Autobots finish the coating to keep their base hidden from the villlains.

After deploying from the base in prolonged dramatic fashion, the flying Autobots engage the Decepticons in the upper atmosphere, where Vector Prime attemps to reclaim his map from Megatron, only to be blasted out of the sky. The fight moves down closer to the planet's surface, but the Autobots' weapons have little effect on the Decepticons, and Starscream soon realizes that the Autobots have formed a defensive line to keep them away from something. The nefarious duo break through the Autobots' line.

At the base, Overhaul races over to D Block to finish the stealth coating alone as Megatron gets closer and closer. Moments before Megatron reaches the base perimeter, Vector Prime suddenly teleports in front of him. With a mighty roar, Vector Prime glows with shimmering blue light that extends in a column from his body into the skies above. With a cry of "CYBER KEY POWER!", Vector Prime summons a [[Cyber Key]], activating his "Tachyon Shield" power and generating a force shield that stops Megatron cold. Optimus uses this opportunity to switch to [[Super Mode]], and blasts Megatron, wounding the Decepticon leader and forcing him and Starscream to retreat through a [[Warp Gate|warp gate]]. Seconds later, Overhaul announces that the stealth coating is complete.

As the sun sets, the Autobots thank Vector Prime for stopping Megatron, and ask him what the heck a Cyber Key actually is. Bemused that the Autobots are unaware of the existence of the Keys, he explains that they are a small part of the power of [[Primus]]. With a wave of his [[Rhisling|sword]], Vector Prime grants all the Autobots Keys of their own, telling them they have earned their powers this day.

===Differences with ''Galaxy Force''===

In addition to simple re-writing and addition of dialogue, notable changes from the ''Galaxy Force'' version of this episode include:

*Among the additions Lori insists the Autobots make to their base is a kitchen. This is why the plans that she is seen holding during the construction montage are clearly those of an ordinary human kitchen.
*This episode introduces the concept of the [[Omega Frequency]], a "trans-sonic signal" emitted by the Omega Lock that only the human kids can hear. This signal does not exist in ''Galaxy Force'', and is a rather clever addition by the ''Cybertron'' dub in order to justify the continued presence of Coby, Bud and Lori, after their usefulness in helping the Autobots hide on Earth effectively comes to an end in a few episodes' time. References to the Omega Frequency are consistently added to ''Cybertron'' episodes where pertinent for the rest of the series.
*''Cybertron'' amps up Coby's technical know-how in his scene with Hot Shot during the construction of the base; while in ''Galaxy Force'', Hot Shot is simply impressed that he is able to identify the hunk of machinery he is lugging around, in ''Cybertron'', Coby offers opinions on ways to make it better.
*Optimus Prime and Vector Prime's brief exchange before heading out to battle the Decepticons is flip-flopped: in ''Galaxy Force'', Vector Prime tells Optimus that he will join the fight even if Optimus orders him not to, while in ''Cybertron'', he ''asks'' Optimus if ''he'' is willing to make the ultimate sacrifice.
*In ''Galaxy Force'', the minimum safe distance from the Autobot base is 150 kilometers; in ''Cybertron'', is it 150 ''miles''.
*In ''Cybertron'', Vector Prime unlocks the ability of the Autobots to summon Cyber Keys. In ''Galaxy Force'' he merely tests to see whether they have the slots for them.

*"Cyber key power!": One, but it's early days yet. We also get one "super mode", and a half-dozen special dirtmoving attacks.

===Continuity errors===
* On the display graphics on Scattorshot's screens, the progress of the blips representing the Decepticons resets itself backward at least once.
* Scattorshot says Meg's sensor range will be "240 kilometres max", then Optimus says "150 miles". Why does Optimus change the measurement? Does he just hate the metric system?
* Why is Overhaul the only one who can work in D Block?
** And why didn't he do the previous block so quickly?
* Scattorshot announces that they have "less than 50 seconds" left at 16:40 or so, and tells Overhaul "there's still almost a minute" after spending twenty seconds talking. Megatron isn't stopped until about 18:18, over 90 seconds later.

*This episode was, for unknown reasons, initially skipped over when the series began airing in America, along with the [[Fallen (episode)|first episode]], and did not air until a few months after the series was underway. The first episode was also skipped in international markets such as the [[United Kingdom]], but this episode was ''not'', making it the first broadcast in those regions.
*After declaring the mountains as being the perfect location for a secret base for its hard and thick rock and ability to jam magnetic fields, the Autobots shoot and kick the rock as to be able to build the base—basically this means the base is vulnerable to any form of attack, barring reinforcement by the base components. And it's certainly hidden from humans.
*The Autobots can build a gigantic secret base in one day?
*Three normal Earth kids apparently know better than the Autobots how to construct a high-tech secret headquarters. While frankly quite ridiculous, this ability for design and detail ''does'' foreshadow some story developments with the [[Mini-Con]]s that come much later in the series. And, admittedly, they ''would'' know more about human-required amenities than Autobots. (In addition, the Autobots may have not had to build their base on Cybertron.)
*So to make the base invisible to the radar they have to spray "stealth paint" on the ''inside'' of the base? (Given, that is where all the metal and equipment is.)
*Overhaul. Is. Spraying. Liquid. From. His. ''Groin''.
*They give the minimum safe distance as 240 kilometers, then as 150 miles. Pleasantly, this conversion is correct. (Jetfire also gives it as "a lightyear", but he's being hyperbolic.)
*This episode introduces the Autobots' over-dramatic (and over-''long'') "roll out" sequence, as they launch from their base through a series of extensive mechanisms. This footage will be [[stock footage|recycled]] many, ''many'' times before the series is out. This episode plays it fairly straight, with Scattorshot simply making technical announcements over a loudspeaker as everyone gets into position, but starting with "[[Time (episode)|Time]]" and running for pretty much the rest of the series, the writers start to have fun with the sequence, inserting lots of additional comedic dialogue to liven up the proceedings.
*Most of the sequence of Vector Prime summoning his Cyber Key is ''not'' stock footage, as it specifically shows the the canyon he's in. Apparently the [[Thirteen original Transformers|Firstforged]] get special treatment.
