:''Wheeljack is an [[Autobot]] from the [[Aligned continuity family]].''
[[Image:ConJob-Wheeljackgun.jpg|right|thumb|300px|"I'm here to build gizmos and be a badass loner, and I'm all out of knowing how to build gizmos!"]]
'''Wheeljack''' is one of the roughest Autobots around. As a former member of the [[Wrecker]]s, he's seen plenty of action, and he's got the snarky one-liners to prove it. If there's anything he likes more than slicing up [[Decepticon]]s with his swords or inventing new gadgets to slice Decepticons in different ways, it's hanging with his old buddy, [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] (who calls him '''Jackie'''). But not for too long. He's got places to be.

{{bigquote|If you're trying to ruin my day, you're gonna have to try harder.|Wheeljack|"[[Con Job]]"}}
==Fiction==
===''Exiles''===
Wheeljack was a member of the Wreckers black-ops. After the [[Great Exodus]], the Autobots remaining on Cybertron encountered the inventor and engineer wandering outside [[Crystal City]]. They took him in, with [[Alpha Trion (Prime)|Alpha Trion]] theorizing that he had escaped from [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]]'s facilities there. Wheeljack proceeded to equip the resistance with new gadgets and weaponry, but his true loyalty remained to science, rather than the Autobots.

Eventually, Wheeljack, along with [[Ultra Magnus (WFC)|Ultra Magnus]] and [[Springer (WFC)|Springer]] approached Alpha Trion to propose re-creating [[space bridge]] technology on a personal scale, and using the energies from the space bridge explosion to trace the locations of the vanished ''[[Ark (WFC)|Ark]]'' and ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]''. The project proceeded, and the inventor was able to find a way of opening a brief passageway through space-time, utilising the remaining energies of the [[Well of All Sparks]] and the damaged consciousness of [[Vector Sigma]]. Wheeljack suggested they send a message of some sort through the gateway to [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]], but Alpha Trion advocated sending an actual bot. Eventually, the Autobot called [[Chaindrive]] was sent, equipped with a device to track the [[Matrix of Leadership]], a piece of the [[Blades of Time]], and a warning for Optimus regarding the [[Requiem Blaster (Prime)|Requiem Blaster]].

Wheeljack was a member of the [[Wrecker]]s alongside [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]], {{storylink|Con Job}} [[Impactor (Prime)|Impactor]], [[Roadbuster (Prime)|Roadbuster]], [[Rotorstorm (Prime)|Rotorstorm]], [[Seaspray (Prime)|Seaspray]] and [[Pyro (Prime)|Pyro]]. {{storylink|Loose Cannons}} He took part in an unnamed battle where he and Bulkhead became surrounded by Decepticons and low on Energon. However, Wheeljack threw a grenade into a smelter, causing it to explode and take out the attackers.{{storylink|Con Job}} Him and Bulkhead also had an altercation on [[Sandokan]].{{storylink|Loose Cannons}}. However early on in the war, Bulkhead left the Wrekcers to join [[Team Prime]] but Wheeljack continued to serve in the Wreckers. After which Wheeljack took part in the Battle of [[Darkmount]] Pass, where he took out a group of Decepticons to get the Wreckers across a smelting pit. When [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] went dark, he began travelling the stars alone in the ''[[Jackhammer (Prime)|Jackhammer]]''. {{storylink|Con Job}}

[[Image:ConJob-Wheeljackface.jpg|left|thumb|200px|This is his head's "make the fans happy" mode.]]
Eventually he reached [[Earth]]'s [[Solar System]] and was hailed by the Autobots stationed there, including Bulkhead. As he was coming in to land at the coordinates provided by [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]], his ship was attacked and shot down by [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicons]]. Wheeljack emerged from the ''Jackhammer'' and proceeded to trash the Decepticons, but was eventually overwhelmed and taken back to the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]'' where he was imprisoned. He was amused to find that [[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] was in command of the Decepticons, and almost goaded Starscream into killing him.

[[Image:ConJob-Wheeljackswords.jpg|right|thumb|250px|Wheeljack: determined to make [[Drift (G1)|Drift]] redundant.]]

An opportunity allowed him to kill his guard and break free from his bonds. He scaled to the top of the ship, where Starscream was waiting for [[Makeshift (Prime)|Makeshift]], who'd taken on Wheeljack's appearance, to open the Autobot [[GroundBridge]]. Wheeljack smashed a bunch of Vehicons and assaulted Starscream before escaping through the GroundBridge to the [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|Autobot base]]. There he confronted Makeshift and the pair dueled with swords until Wheeljack was victorious. Bulkhead tossed Makeshift back through the GroundBridge along with a "present" for the 'cons.

Though the Autobots welcomed Wheeljack, he revealed that he intended to return to space. He invited Bulkhead along, but Bulkhead was too attached to his friends on Earth to leave. Bulkhead was sure Wheeljack would return someday... {{storylink|Con Job}}

When Miko was trying to stir Bulkhead's memory after he absorbed the data from the [[Cybertronian data cylinder]] she mentioned Wheeljack, and showed Bulkhead the picture she took of them together. Sadly, this did not jog Bulkhead's memory. {{storylink|T.M.I.}}

[[Image:LooseCannons Wheeljack fires back.jpg|thumb|left|250px]]
During his travels, Wheeljack made contact with fellow Wrecker [[Seaspray (Prime)|Seaspray]] only for [[Dreadwing (Prime)|Dreadwing]] to destroy Seaspray's ship. Wheeljack chased Dreadwing to Earth where they battled near a gas station, which was destroyed in the conflict as [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]]'s team arrived. Filling the other Autobots in, Wheeljack found himself chafing over the need for secrecy. When Dreadwing called him to arrange a meeting, Wheeljack took Bulkhead to try and trap the Decepticon. The encounter instead left Wheeljack buried.

Once Optimus dug him out, he accompanied the Autobot leader to the port where Bulkhead had been taken by Dreadwing and attempted to remove the bomb the Decepticon had placed on his comrade. Eventually he was forced to concede only Dreadwing could remove the bomb, and he and Optimus played a gambit that forced Dreadwing's hand. Convinced to stay on Earth by the other Autobots, Wheeljack adopted a new alternate mode and drove off to explore the planet. {{storylink|Loose Cannons}}
'''For your consideration: a GroundBridge failure flings three kids an alternate dimension, isolated from everything save a reanimated killer robot and a detached arm. Such a circumstance may prove an everyday occurance, though not for you and I. Such things could only be possible in another reality - one perpendicular to the ordinary, only obliquely visible, yet running parallel to the future. A reality we call... The Shadow Zone!'''

==Synopsis==

[[Image:Shadowzone-MegsStarscream.jpg|left|thumb|300px|"Baby, I don't ''want'' to hurt you!"]]

[[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] lies in the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]''<nowiki>'s</nowiki> lab, having taken a severe pounding from [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]]. His leader pays a visit, mostly to gloat over how their positions have changed. Once he leaves, Starscream rips himself free of the cables feeding him. [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] is shocked to see Starscream up and about, but Starscream claims angrily that he feels fine and limps away. Starscream retrieves a shard of [[Dark Energon]]—the one he originally ripped from Megatron's body—from its hiding place and promises that his and Megatron's positions will be reversed.

At the [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|Autobot base]], [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] reports that he's detected a weak but rapidly moving Dark Energon signal, which the [[Autobot]]s assume is Megatron. [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] wonders if he plans to use it raise a new army of [[Terrorcon (Prime)|Terrorcons]] ([[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] seems thrilled at the prospect of zombie-cons) and [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] notes that it's possible, given the Dark Energon signal is moving to a familiar site.

[[Image:Shadowzone-purple.jpg|right|thumb|300px|"The Power Cosmic!"]]
Starscream arrives at the site of [[Skyquake (Prime)|Skyquake]]'s grave, announcing that this time the fallen warrior will be his servant. Breaking off a chunk of the Dark Energon and throwing it into the cairn, Starscream plunges the rest of it into himself and feels the power flowing through him.

Optimus Prime readies the Autobots to move out, though Ratchet's surprised that he's on the team. As Miko yells words of encouragement to [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]], [[Jack Darby|Jack]] and [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]] observe that she's obviously up to something, since she's acting disinterested in coming along. Indeed, as the Autobots head through the [[GroundBridge]], Miko makes a break for the opening, and Jack and Raf give chase. Jack manages to grab her on the threshold, but she shakes loose and runs through, though [[Miko's phone|her cell phone]] is knocked from her belt. The three kids arrive on site just behind the Autobots and scramble up a nearby outcropping to watch the anticipated battle. The Autobots are surprised to find Starscream instead of Megatron, and he takes advantage by shooting at them and proclaiming his invulnerability. Optimus responds by shooting one of Starscream's arms off. As the Autobots close in, Starscream takes cover and shouts at Skyquake to hurry up and rise before panicking and requesting an emergency GroundBridge. The Autobots finally spot the kids when Miko shouts at Jack for making her lose her phone, just in time for [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] to call from base asking where the kids are. Optimus orders her to send a GroundBridge. Ratchet is surprised when ''two'' GroundBridge portals open, but orders the kids to go in. They do so, and Starscream likewise dives through the 'Con GroundBridge, but moments later, green energy begins swirling around everywhere. Bulkhead runs to save the kids, but is knocked back from the GroundBridge portal, which then explodes.

Starscream arrives back on the ''Nemesis'' and tells the [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicon]] operator to keep his mouth shut. After leaving the GroundBridge room, he removes the chunk of Dark Energon from his chest.

The kids pick themselves up, as do the Autobots, but the kids quickly discover that the Autobots can't see them, and to Miko's alarm, Bulkhead steps right through her. Unaware, the Autobots speculate on what happened to the kids. Raf works out that he, Jack and Miko are in a sort of alternate dimension he calls a [[Shadowzone (dimension)|shadowzone]]. Optimus observes that Skyquake's grave is empty and requests a GroundBridge from Arcee. The kids spot Skyquake—now a Dark Energon zombie—heading towards the Autobots. Their cries of warning go unheard, but Skyquake's strike passes right through Bulkhead. The kids rapidly realize that Skyquake is in the same dimension as they are, and they and run for it. Raf trips and is carried to safety by Jack, but has lost his glasses. Miko makes an ill-advised recovery of the spectacles, and they continue their flight.

The Autobots are at a loss to locate the kids until [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] suggests calling them. Bulkhead rings Miko, only to discover her lost cellphone sitting on the floor in the Autobot base. Arcee rings Jack, and in the shadowzone, his phone rings, but there's too much interference for him and Arcee to communicate. The kids hit on the idea of sending a text message to Miko's phone but are forced to run as Skyquake finds them. Miko is just realizing that they've gone in a circle when they literally run into Starscream's lost arm.

Knock Out examines Starscream, who covers for his lost arm by saying it just fell off. The medic tries unsuccessfully to interest him in a replacement upgrade arm.

[[Image:Shadowzone_HappymusPrime.jpg|left|thumb|300px|What? Optimus is ''smiling''?! No! We're ''still'' in another dimension!]]

Meanwhile, the kids use Starscream's arm to fire a missile at Skyquake. They manage to blast Skyquake's arm off, but it promptly animates and starts charging towards them at high speed. The kids start running once again.

At base, Bulkhead notices that Miko's phone is flashing, and the Autobots finally get the kids' message. Ratchet sets about trying to locate where they are.

Starscream's piece of Dark Energon starts pulsing, which he takes to mean that Skyquake has risen. He tells Knock Out, returning with a new arm, that he's going to go and retrieve his old arm.

Ratchet pinpoints the kids to the location of Skyquake's grave and starts working on a way to return them to the normal dimension.

[[Image:Shadowzone-alone.jpg|right|thumb|300px|Zombies have no respect for personal space!]]

The kids find themselves back at Starscream's arm and are confronted by Starscream himself, come to find Skyquake. Luckily, he can't see them, but they're forced to run toward him when Skyquake's arm appears. A GroundBridge portal opens in front of them, and they run through at the last moment. Starscream is startled by the three humans running past, but then Skyquake's arm follows them through the portal and grabs Starscream's head. He has barely shaken the thing loose when Optimus, Bulkhead and Arcee arrive, and he has to request another emergency GroundBridge.

Back at base, Miko takes responsibility for the whole venture, much to Jack's surprise, but the Autobots decide she's been through enough. Bulkhead regrets she didn't get to take any pictures, but Miko asserts that the mental image of zombie Skyquake will be enough.

Knock Out performs more repairs on Starscream and inquires whether he retrieved his arm. Back in the shadowzone, Skyquake briefly tries Starscream's arm on for size before tossing it away.

==Notes==
===Continuity errors===
* Skyquake's arm continues to function even after being blasted off. When Ratchet severs a zombie's arm in "[[Darkness Rising, Part 4]]", the arm is shown deactivating moments later. It is possible that this is due to Skyquake being infused with an actual Dark Energon crystal, the same way [[Cliffjumper (Prime)| Cliffjumper]] was still functional in "[[Darkness Rising, Part 2]]" despite being cut in half.
* Jack [[Darkness Rising, Part 2|previously discovered]] that the Autobot base was shielded from cell-phone reception. This may have something to do with the "cell phone comlink patch" Raf mentions in "[[Convoy (episode)|Convoy]]".
* In the final scene with Skyquake in the alternate dimension, it first shows Starscream's missing arm. However, Starscream is missing his right arm whereas this arm is a left. In the next cut where Skyquake tries to attach the arm to himself, it becomes the proper missing right arm.

===Continuity notes===
* Starscream attempts to raise Skyquake as a zombie the way Megatron raised an undead army in "[[Darkness Rising]]" parts [[Darkness Rising, Part 4|4]] and [[Darkness Rising, Part 5|5]]. He even quotes Megatron's exact line about symbiosis.
* Starscream stole the Dark Energon shard he uses from Megatron way back in "[[Masters & Students]]". Likewise, Skyquake made his previous appearance in the same episode, and the action in this episode happens around his burial site.
* This is the first episode in which we see the Decepticons using a GroundBridge

===Transformers references===
* This episode finally has the Autobots refer to the ''Nemesis'' by name. The name was previously given to the [[Nemesis (G1)|Decepticon cruiser]] from [[Generation 1 (franchise)|Generation 1]] in "[[Nemesis Part 1]]".
* When suggesting alternative arm weapons for Starscream, Knock Out makes a few references to past [[Starscream (disambiguation)|Starscreams]]: While he recommends a [[null-ray]], as sported by [[Starscream (G1)|Generation 1 Starscream]], he also proposes a "[[sonic cannon]]", in an apparent reference to [[Starscream (Animated)|''Animated'' Starscream]], whose arm cannons were referred to as sonic weapons in various places (though never the ''Animated'' show itself).
* Miko appears to be drawing Optimus Prime. But instead of drawing the Optimus Prime she's known for months, she draws the [[Optimus Prime (Animated)| Animated Optimus Prime]] instead! And you can ''just'' see an arm to the side that looks like it could belong to [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]]. Those sneaky Art Designers!

===Real-world references===
* Ratchet fears that the GroundBridges may have "crossed streams". [[Wikipedia:Ghostbusters|This is generally a very bad thing]]. The reference was [[Marsha Griffin]]'s idea.<ref>[http://tformers.com/transformers-botcon-2011-transformers-prime-interview-with-executive-producer-jeff-kline/15863/news.html TFormers BotCon 2011 interview with Kline]</ref>
===Trivia===
* The voice cast performed a script reading of the episode at [[BotCon 2011]]. [[Sean Long]] stood in for [[Frank Welker]], while [[Ernie Hudson]] filled in for [[Daran Norris]]. A deleted scene where [[William Fowler|Fowler]] contacts [[June Darby]] (and pretends to be something called a "Ghostbuster") was reincorporated.
* Despite Megatron being pretty ticked off at Starscream in the previous episode, Starscream is still alive (albeit heavily injured). Just like old times!
* [[Jeff Kline]] claimed that when they kill a character, the character stays killed. He wasn't exactly lying: Skyquake reappears, but only as a shambling zombie. He doesn't even get lines, except for groans and moans.
* Miko claims to have learned her lesson. [[Metal Attraction|It]] [[Rock Bottom|doesn't]] [[T.M.I.|last]].
* This episode shows that Transformers need to make a special gesture with their hands in order to activate their weapons systems.
* Say, what ever happened to Skyquake's disembodied arm after Starscream threw it(still functioning) away after it attacked him?
'''The Autobots try to get Cliffjumper back, unaware of what the Decepticons have done to him.'''

==Synopsis==
[[Starscream (Prime)|Starscream]] shows off the massive [[energon]] deposit that the [[Decepticon]]s have located. After [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] reminds his subordinate who's boss, he shows off what ''he's'' found — [[Dark Energon]], the blood of [[Unicron]], which Starscream claims is said to have the power to resurrect the dead. Megatron inquires if Starscream is willing to volunteer to try it out, but it turns out they still have [[Cliffjumper (Prime)|Cliffjumper]]'s corpse handy.

[[Image:DarknessRising2-Fowler.jpg|left|thumb|200px|He's not taking the words of a group of unaccountable aliens with their own agenda as gospel. ''Bastards!'']]
At Autobot HQ, Optimus Prime tells the kids that the Autobots will have to protect them, as the Decepticons will likely be interested in the Autobots' new allies. A proximity alert lets the Autobots know that Agent [[William Fowler|Fowler]], their liaison with the US government, is paying them a visit. Fowler is not happy with the Autobots' antics during the recent freeway chase, but [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] points out no humans were hurt. After Prime's assurances that the Autobots will take care of things, Fowler leaves.

Megatron uses the Dark Energon on Cliffjumper, who revives as a snarling, savage beast and immediately attacks a couple of Decepticon soldiers. The thing that was Cliffjumper then turns on Megatron, who slices him in two and announces that the Dark Energon is the key to a vast, indestructible army.

[[Image:Autobots Battle Darkness Rising 2.jpg|right|250px|thumb|"Starscream, this is the police! We have you surrounded!"<br> "Oh crud!"]]

Ratchet reports that he's detected Cliffjumper's signal, and the chance that Cliffjumper's alive is too much for the Autobots to resist. Leaving the kids with Ratchet, they take the [[GroundBridge]] out. Ratchet explains the ground bridge to the amazed kids and threatens to send them to Tokyo. Meanwhile, the rest of the Autobots arrive in the energon mine and start fighting Decepticon drones. Starscream alerts Megatron, who feels he needs more time to prepare to face Optimus and orders the ship made ready for departure. He also orders Starscream to blow up the mine. As the battle rages, [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] spots Cliffjumper. The other Autobots cover her, and she reaches her fellow Autobot, or what's left of him, only to discover what the Decepticons have done. Starscream stops by to drop off a bomb before making a rapid exit. The Autobots race through the mine ahead of the explosion, back to their entry point, as Optimus radios Ratchet to order the opening of the ground bridge.

[[Image:DarknessRising2-girltrouble.jpg|thumb|250px|left|"That ''better'' not be Barry Manilow you're playing, Jack."]]

After the team arrives back at base, Arcee tells the others what she saw. She becomes dizzy, and Ratchet scans her and finds contamination on her wrist. While Arcee goes and gets cleaned up, the kids explain to Optimus that they really need to get home, or their relatives will send the cops out looking for them. Prime assigns Bulkhead to take [[Miko Nakadai|Miko]] home, [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] to take care of [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]], and Arcee to [[Jack Darby|Jack]]. Arcee and Jack arrive home shortly before [[June Darby|Jack's mother]] hauls up in her car. Mom's less than impressed that Jack appears to have bought a motorcycle, but Jack talks her around. The next morning, despite Jack's protests that it's a Saturday, Arcee insists that they need to get to HQ.

On the Decepticon ship, Megatron is skeptical that Optimus perished in the destruction of the energon mine. Starscream is concerned that Megatron is being affected by too much exposure to the Dark Energon, but Megatron responds by taking a sliver of the substance and plunging it into his own spark.

Ratchet's analysis of the Dark Energon sample he retrieved from Arcee is incomplete due to his lack of the necessary technology. As he moves the sample to another part of the lab, some of it drips on the manipulator arm Bulkhead broke earlier. Unseen by Ratchet, the arm twitches into life, turning into a one-eyed, spider-like creature.
==Notes==
===Animation and technical errors===
* The Autobots have no shadows when they walk into the main mine.
* June parks her car in the driveway and goes to bed. In the morning it is moved. It could be explained by her going to work except that Jack says that she is still sleeping.

===Transformers references===
*Dark Energon is a central MacGuffin for Megatron in this continuity, first being used in the ''[[Transformers: War for Cybertron (games)|War for Cybertron]]'' games, as well as in the ''[[Transformers: Exodus]]'' novel. Megatron and Starscream's introductory conversation about the substance is ''very'' expository for the benefit of viewers who haven't read the book or played the game, to the extent that it sounds like neither of them has encountered it before, and neither Arcee nor Ratchet is indicated to have any familiarity with the substance, despite having seen it first-hand back during the war. And yet, Arcee does compare Decepticon experiments during the war on Cybertron to the substance's effect on Cliffjumper, without explicitly naming the stuff (though previously it didn't make anyone crazed zombies.... On the other hand, it was never used on a dead guy before (that we know of) - in fact, it always left deceased users and sought for living ones, which is kinda weird for a substance which could merely rise the user from the dead. Sorry, Cliff, them's the breaks). It's all a bit wobbly; while the cartoon almost certainly seems to have been written as if it is the characters' first encounter with Dark Energon, the dialogue does have enough wiggle room if you're obstinate, like us!

==Synopsis==

"Uh, Starscream, I don't quite understand how this could have happened."<br>
"And yet, it DID! Can you imagine my horror? There I am, minding my own business, when my arm ''just falls off''! Clearly, Megatron inflicted more damage upon me than you realized, ''Doctor''..."

==Notes==
===Continuity errors===

===Continuity notes===

===Transformers references===

===Real-world references===
===Trivia===
Airachnid muses to Megatron about Soundwave's inevitable decryption of the [[Project Iacon|Iacon files,]] and requests for her tracking abilities to be enlisted in the search for the resulting coordinates. Megatron dismisses her, and Soundwave replays the audio of her suggestion to leave Megatron [[One Shall Rise, Part 3|earlier]]. He contacts Dreadwing, who replies with an oath of loyalty. The leader orders him to perform a task he normally performs [[Rock Bottom|himself]], but now leaves to his first officer. The Seeker is confused, as Airachnid holds that position, but his mission becomes clear—he is to dispose of the treacherous spider.

Breakdown, Dreadwing, and Airachnid follow the trail of an unconfirmed energon deposit. Airachnid is amused at the heavy backup, and takes the opportunity to grill Breakdown on his lack of skill, and lack of eye. Dreadwing attempts to calm him, but another insult puts him into a frenzy. He jumps at the spider, but is webbed in the face. Dreadwing joins the fray, but is pinned to a tree by Airachnid's webbing, but not before he lets off a blast which collapses a tree on Airachnid. She finds one of her legs damaged, and retreats. Breakdown gives chase, and finds her collapsed in a ravine. As he raises his hammer to finish her, webs immobilize it in the air. Airachnid raises a leg to slice him through.

A contingent of MECH soldiers come upon Breakdown's remains.

In a cave, Starscream pities his lot in life as he jumps for a meager scrap of energon. He is interrupted by a nearby rumbling that surprises him—it is an Insecticon, unearthing a large chunk of energon. He orders the brute to hand it over, but it attacks him, forcing him to hide. He witnesses the Insecticon bowing to another surprise—Airachnid. He makes himself known, and she makes her rogue status known, giving Starscream the idea to propose an alliance to overthrow Megatron with the help of her oversized herald. She proposes an alternative—she overthrows Megatron, and orders the Insecticon to destroy Starscream.

At base, Ratchet recieves another [[Orion Pax, Part 2|high frequency message on a restricted band,]] again from Starscream, who promises valuable intel for medical aid. His intel proves none-too-relevant until he mentions the Insecticon, and provides Airachnid's location. Back at base, Arcee
berates Ratchet and Bulkhead for letting him go again, but Optimus is confident in sparing helpless lifeforms, regardless of personal vendettas.

Airachnid contacts Megatron and proposes a challenge. He accepts, and forbids Dreadwing to follow him.

Megatron arrives at the mine, and is beset upon by the Insecticon, who ignores Megatron's orders to stand down and begins to beat him down. Before long, however, the former gladiator is on equal footing with the beast . The Autobots bridge in, and Arcee goes for Airachnid. Below, Megatron gains the upper hand, removing the Insecticon's limbs and finally decapitating it. Megatron announces his superiority, before falling. The Autobots surround him, and Optimus Prime prepares to execute him. Laser blasts fill the air, and Dreadwing, accompanied by a large detachment of Vehicons, surrounds them. They agree to trade their lives for Megatron's. As Dreadwing and Megatron fly off, Megatron shows his appreciation for Dreadwing's disregard of orders.

Arcee follows Airachnid, but finds herself suddenly stuck in a trap. As her rival prepares to finish her, a missile streaks through the air and pushes the spider off Arcee. She escapes as Starscream—intent on payback—continues to fire. Now alone with Arcee, the Seeker recalls her decision to spare him earlier, and cuts her down to settle his debt.

Underground, even as she swears her vengeance, Airachnid comes upon the source of her warrior—an entire nest of Insecticons.
===Continuity errors===
*Starscream's missiles reappear on his arms after he fires them.

=== Animation and technical errors ===
*When Bulkhead jumps out of the groundbridge with Ratchet following behind, the wrecking ball on his left arm somehow transforms silently and invisibly back to his hand.

===Continuity notes===
*Arcee reminds the team yet again of how Airachnid took [[Tailgate (Prime)|Tailgate]] away from her.
*Starscream hasn't forgotten how Arcee let him live after their last encounter from "[[Partners]]".
*Soundwave plays dialogue from "[[One Shall Rise, Part 2]]" to remind Megatron what Airachnid thinks of him.
*Airachnid wanting to leave Megatron behind during "[[One Shall Rise, Part 3]]" has caught up to her.
*MECH comes across the dismembered remains of Breakdown, and cites it as a "[[Operation: Breakdown|familiar face]]".
*Starscream contacts Ratchet the same way he did back in "[[Orion Pax, Part 2]]", and meets him and Bulkhead in what appears to be the same place. He even references the events of that episode.
*The events of the two-part episode "[[Operation Bumblebee, Part 1|Operation Bumblebee]]" are brought up while Starscream begs for treatment.
*The "task" Megatron normally performs himself—the disposal of treacherous soldiers—previously occurred in "[[Rock Bottom]]", where Starscream was the recipient.
*Megatron refers to his skills and training as a Kaon gladiator.
*The resolution Optimus Prime made last season to finally kill Megatron still stands.

===Transformers references===

===Real-world references===
Megatron's statement, after locating Airachnid, "I'll be back", is no doubt a references to [[the Terminator's]] famous line.

===Trivia===
*Starscream's arm-mounted missiles still work even with his T-Cog missing, since there's no transformation involved in firing them.
*Airachnid is still in the hobby of collecting heads, as she promises to take Starscream's. However, where will she store them now that her ship is gone?
*This is the first time a main character has died.
:''Ultra Magnus is an [[Autobot]] from the [[Robots in Disguise (franchise)|Robots in Disguise]] continuity family.''

[[Image:Rid magnus.jpg|right|250px|thumb|From angsty badass to angsty deus ex machina to angsty Power Mushroom.]]
'''Ultra Magnus''' hates his brother, [[Optimus Prime (RID)|Optimus Prime]], because Prime got the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]] and he didn't. They combine all the time anyway, either because Magnus can't deny his noble Autobot nature, or because if Prime gets blown to tiny bits, the Matrix could get blown to tiny bits with him. He and Optimus can combine into [[Omega Prime]], one of the most powerful Autobots in the Multiverse. He claims to be the most powerful Autobot in the Universe. This is probably true. Ultra Magnus can easily take down the Decpeticons and Predacons. The only opponent he cant beat is [[Megatron (RID)|Galvatron]].

He's a dick.

[[Image:Ultra Magnus eye.jpg|left|200px|thumb|]]
Ultra Magnus was created by [[Alpha Trion (RID)|Alpha Trion]] and brought online at the exact same moment as his brother, Optimus Prime. They both served with distinction during the [[Cybertronian Civil Wars]], presumably against the [[Predacon (RID)|Predacons]]. Afterwards, when the time came for [[Vector Sigma]] (also referred to as the [[Allspark]] in this continuity) to choose a new Matrix Bearer and Autobot leader, Magnus was passed over in favor of Optimus. Magnus was infuriated by this, and left Cybertron immediately afterwards. He became increasingly embittered, both towards his brother and mainstream Autobots in general, causing him to come off as something of a jerk when dealing with them.

[[Image:Ultra Magnus Magnusprime.jpg|right|200px|thumb|"Do you forgive me for getting the Matrix, Ultra Magnus?" "Nope."]]
Some time later, he tracked down his brother to the planet he was currently charged with protecting, [[Earth]]. There, he first encountered the [[Decepticon|Decepticons]] and singlehandedly defeated them all, even when they combined into [[Ruination (RID)|Ruination]], becoming the first being to beat Ruination without any sort of help. {{storylink|Ultra Magnus (episode)|Ultra Magnus}} He then challenged Optimus Prime for possession of the [[Matrix of Leadership]] and command of the Autobots. Optimus refused to fight his brother, however, not that that stopped Ultra Magnus from blasting him with his powerful weapon, Blue Bolts. Optimus was only saved by the intervention of [[Side Burn (RID)|Side Burn]], [[Prowl (RID)|Prowl]] and [[X-Brawn]], who rescued their commander and transported him to a remote island to recuperate. It was there that Optimus revealed to Side Burn his relationship to Ultra Magnus, much to the young Autobot's shock. Unfortunately, the Predacon [[Sky-Byte (RID)|Sky-Byte]] had used a hidden tracking device to locate Optimus Prime, and he, [[Megatron (RID)|Megatron]] and the Decepticons ganged up on the weakened Autobot leader. Ultra Magnus then showed up, having followed Sky-Byte, and forced Optimus Prime to merge with him, becoming [[Omega Prime]], with the intention of absorbing the Matrix's power. However, he was shocked to discover that Optimus Prime had just as much control over Omega Prime as he did, and they were forced to cooperate to use their combined form's firepower to drive off the Decepticons. {{storylink|Ultra Magnus: Forced Fusion!}}

Although he remained a free agent, Ultra Magnus would come to the aid of the Autobots whenever he felt they required assistance, though he was always quick to deny that he actually cared for their safety. He also often combined with Optimus when the situation required it. These frequent combinations apparently had some unexpected side effects, as Ultra Magnus seemed to unconsciously channel the energies of the Matrix into the [[Autobot Brothers|Autobot brothers]], upgrading them to their new "supercharged" forms. Although this was never explicitly explained in the show, afterwards, Optimus speculated that he and Magnus were now somehow "sharing" the Matrix.

[[Image:Two Faces Ultra Magnus vehicle.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Oh for crying out loud.....PICK A LANE ALREADY!]]
Ultra Magnus once pretended to join the Decepticons in an attempt to infiltrate the group, however, this plan failed due to the interference of the Autobot brothers, who believed that Magnus had genuinely betrayed them. An all-out battle between Autobots and Predacons/Decepticons soon erupted, with Ultra Magnus proving that his true loyalties lay with the Autobots. {{storylink|The Two Faces of Ultra Magnus}}

He would constantly appear ''out of nowhere'' whenever the Autobots were in trouble, using his strength, guns and combining power to help save the day. How he always managed this is unknown.

He took part in the Autobots final clash with the [[Predacon (RID)|Predacons]] and [[Decepticon |Decepticons]] but instantly combined with Optimus into Omega Prime to attack Megatron's [[Megastar |command center]]. Their attack failed. {{storylink|Surprise Attack}}

When the Autobots retreated from battle because Megstron had the children of the world hostage with his [[Cyber-bat]]s, he stayed behind and attacked Galvatron head on. Again, he failed miserably. {{storylink|Galvatron's Revenge}}

As usual he popped out of nowhere to remove Optimus from battle and leave the other Autobots to be torched by Galvatron. Optimus asked Magnus to help him one last time. Magnus agreed, acting very suprised that Prime asked instead of ordering him. They merged into Omega Prime one last time to defeat Galvatron at the Earth's center, ending the conflict at last. Ultra Magnus then took custody of the prisoners aboard [[Fortress Maximus (RID)|Fortress Maximus]] to return them to Cybertron. {{storylink|The Final Battle (RID)|The Final Battle}}
===Ultra Magnus...to the Rescue?===
[[Image:UltraMagnusToTheRescue Magnus kick.jpg|thumb|right|200px|Falcon kick!]]
While <s>stalking</s> following Optimus in [[Wyoming]], Magnus overheard T-AI sending the Autobot leader to a Predacon/Decepticon attack in [[Arizona]], and resolved to take care of it himself. On arriving at the energy research facility, he swiftly took care of [[Armorhide (RID)|Armorhide]] and [[Rollbar (RID)|Rollbar]] before casually slamming [[Scourge (RID)|Scourge]] into the nearest building.

When Optimus expressed concern for the humans, Scourge took it as a cue to threaten the nearest fleshling to try to force the Autobots to surrender. On Optimus's urging, Magnus reluctantly agreed, however once Scourge was distracted, the pair took the opportunity to punch him in the face, and the Decepticons retreated. Before Optimus could thank his brother, Magnus was rolling off into the sunset. {{storylink|Ultra Magnus...to the Rescue?}}
[[Image:TFUjailbreak.jpg|left|thumb|300px|Here I am, kept in this tiny room, forced to be kept merged to this dude who hates me.]]
Some time after the defeat of Galvatron, Optimus Prime formed the [[Dimensional Patrol]] from the ranks of the Autobots who had stayed behind on Earth, as well as additional experts in transwarp technology, to defend the planet from those who would do it harm via the "temporal and spatial nexus" in Earth's proximity. Unfortunately, Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, and several members of the Dimensional Patrol were abducted by [[Unicron]]. Here they were to battle each other in the [[Cauldron]], where their energy would feed and repair the shattered body of the Chaos Bringer. {{storylink|The Official Transformers Collectors' Club Magazine issue 1}}

As Omega Prime, Prime and Magnus escaped this fate in a jailbreak set into motion by [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]] and [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]]. They left Unicron for their home universe via a portal created by [[Optimus Primal]] and [[Snarl (BM)|Snarl]], {{storylink|Escape (issue)|Escape}} but shortly thereafter they were once again called into service by [[Primus]]. {{storylink|Homecoming (issue)|Homecoming}}
[[Image:OptimusPrimeRIDprimuschamber.jpg|right|300px|thumb|Still had some anger issues.]]
However, this was not the end of Ultra Magnus's story, for both he and his brother were abducted by the chaos-bringer himself, [[Unicron]], and pitted against his legion of minions as part of an elaborate attempt to revitalize himself. This war ended abruptly when Unicron's physical form was destroyed in another universe, resulting in the [[Unicron Singularity]], which threatened the very multiverse itself. Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime were among the Transformers who were displaced in the [[Unicron Trilogy]] universe in the wake of this event. There they joined forces with the Autobots [[Sentinel Maximus]], [[Vector Prime]], and even that universe's version of their creator, Alpha Trion. When [[Nemesis Prime (Universe 2003)|Nemesis Prime]] attempted to destroy [[Primus]] himself using the [[Dead Matrix]], they intervened as Omega Prime. Later, while his brother helped Primus recover, Ultra Magnus defeated Nemesis Prime in one-on-one combat.

He later became involved in the [[Mini-Con Civil War]] that erupted on Cybertron's moons, and even fought against the reincarnated Unicron himself as Omega Prime. {{storylink|Balancing Act}}
:Magnus' alternate mode is a massive car-carrier vehicle (akin to his G1 counterpart). He is able to carry all three Autobot Brothers when in "carrier mode". In robot mode, Magnus is a rather towering figure due to his oddly long legs (made up of the carrier component from his vehicle mode). His "Blue Bolts" weapon can be configured into three different modes and, when plugged into the proper connectors, generate different sound effects. A button on his back also allows for an additional shout from Magnus (in either Japanese or English, depending on the version of the toy). The Japanese release is slightly different in that it uses different missiles, lacks tampographed Autobot symbols on the sides, and features darker, metallic-flaked plastics, and, as expected, Japanese voice clips. Magnus can combine with the large ''Robots in Disguise'' Optimus Prime toy to create Omega Prime. Just like his combiner partner, Ultra Magnus features Mini-Con ports before they were used in Armada. Unchanged from the Takara release the tires featured the name "GOD MAGNUS" instead of "ULTRA MAGNUS".
:This [[black repaint]] of Ultra Magnus is ''hugely'' rare, to the extent that its very ''existence'' is occasionally questioned. Only ten units are known to exist, having been offered in a ''[[TV Magazine]]'' prize draw that seemed to slip under everyone's radar.

Ultra Magnus can easily take down the Decpeticons and Predaons. The only opponent he cant beat is [[Megatron (RID)|Galvatron]].

He's a dick.

:''Japanese name'': '''God Magnus'''
:''Voice actor:'' [[Kim Strauss]] (English), [[Takashi Matsuyama]] (Japanese)

Some time later, he tracked down his brother to the planet he was currently charged with protecting, [[Earth]]. There, he first encountered the [[Decepticon|Decepticons]] and singlehandedly defeated them all, even when they combined into [[Ruination (RID)|Ruination]], becoming the first being to beat Ruination without any sort of help. {{storylink|Ultra Magnus (episode)|Ultra Magnus}} He then challenged Optimus Prime for possession of the [[Matrix of Leadership]] and command of the Autobots. Optimus refused to fight his brother, however, not that that stopped Ultra Magnus from blasting him with his powerful weapon, Blue Bolts. Optimus was only saved by the intervention of [[Side Burn (RID)|Side Burn]], [[Prowl (RID)|Prowl]] and [[X-Brawn]], who rescued their commander and transported him to a remote island to recuperate. It was there that Optimus revealed to Side Burn his relationship to Ultra Magnus, much to the young Autobot's shock. Unfortunately, the Predacon [[Sky-Byte (RID)|Sky-Byte]] had used a hidden tracking device to locate Optimus Prime, and he, [[Megatron (RID)|Megatron]] and the Decepticons ganged up on the weakened Autobot leader. Ultra Magnus then showed up, having followed Sky-Byte, and forced Optimus Prime to merge with him, becoming [[Omega Prime]], with the intention of absorbing the Matrix's power. However, he was shocked to discover that Optimus Prime had just as much control over Omega Prime as he did, and they were forced to cooperate to use their combined form's firepower to drive off the Decepticons. {{storylink|Ultra Magnus: Forced Fusion!}}

Ultra Magnus once pretended to join the Decepticons in an attempt to infiltrate the group, however, this plan failed due to the interference of the Autobot brothers, who believed that Magnus had genuinely betrayed them. An all-out battle between Autobots and Predacons/Decepticons soon erupted, with Ultra Magnus proving that his true loyalties lay with the Autobots. {{storylink|The Two Faces of Ultra Magnus}}

He would constantly appear ''out of nowhere'' whenever the Autobots were in trouble, using his strength, guns and combining power to help save the day. How he always managed this is unknown.

He took part in the Autobots final clash with the [[Predacon (RID)|Predacons]] and [[Decepticon |Decepticons]] but instantly combined with Optimus into Omega Prime to attack Megatron's [[Megastar |command center]]. Their attack failed. {{storylink|Surprise Attack}}

When the Autobots retreated from battle because Megstron had the children of the world hostage with his [[Cyber-bat]]s, he stayed behind and attacked Galvatron head on. Again, he failed miserably. {{storylink|Galvatron's Revenge}}

As usual he popped out of nowhere to remove Optimus from battle and leave the other Autobots to be torched by Galvatron. Optimus asked Magnus to help him one last time. Magnus agreed, acting very suprised that Prime asked instead of ordering him. They merged into Omega Prime one last time to defeat Galvatron at the Earth's center, ending the conflict at last. Ultra Magnus then took custody of the prisoners aboard [[Fortress Maximus (RID)|Fortress Maximus]] to return them to Cybertron. {{storylink|The Final Battle (RID)|The Final Battle}}
===Ultra Magnus...to the Rescue?===

When Optimus expressed concern for the humans, Scourge took it as a cue to threaten the nearest fleshling to try to force the Autobots to surrender. On Optimus's urging, Magnus reluctantly agreed, however once Scourge was distracted, the pair took the opportunity to punch him in the face, and the Decepticons retreated. Before Optimus could thank his brother, Magnus was rolling off into the sunset. {{storylink|Ultra Magnus...to the Rescue?}}
[[Image:TFUjailbreak.jpg|left|thumb|300px|Here I am, kept in this tiny room, forced to be kept merged to this dude who hates me.]]
Some time after the defeat of Galvatron, Optimus Prime formed the [[Dimensional Patrol]] from the ranks of the Autobots who had stayed behind on Earth, as well as additional experts in transwarp technology, to defend the planet from those who would do it harm via the "temporal and spatial nexus" in Earth's proximity. Unfortunately, Optimus Prime, Ultra Magnus, and several members of the Dimensional Patrol were abducted by [[Unicron]]. Here they were to battle each other in the [[Cauldron]], where their energy would feed and repair the shattered body of the Chaos Bringer. {{storylink|The Official Transformers Collectors' Club Magazine issue 1}}

As Omega Prime, Prime and Magnus escaped this fate in a jailbreak set into motion by [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]] and [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]]. They left Unicron for their home universe via a portal created by [[Optimus Primal]] and [[Snarl (BM)|Snarl]], {{storylink|Escape (issue)|Escape}} but shortly thereafter they were once again called into service by [[Primus]]. {{storylink|Homecoming (issue)|Homecoming}}

He later became involved in the [[Mini-Con Civil War]] that erupted on Cybertron's moons, and even fought against the reincarnated Unicron himself as Omega Prime. {{storylink|Balancing Act}}
