==Synopsis==
Growing bolder and more determined following the death of [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]], [[Sixshot]] steps up the [[Decepticon]] attack on Earth, dispatching the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]], [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]], [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcons]] and [[Horrorcon|Horrorcons]] to assault the Autobots on numerous fronts. Five installations are simultaneously attacked, and [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress]] instructs [[Blaster (G1)|Twincast]] and [[Autobot Mini-Cassette|his cassettes]] to gather information that will allow them to pre-empt the next attack. Even [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]], still smarting over Ultra Magnus's demise, wants to participate in the upcoming counterattack, but as he argues with Fortress, reports start pouring in from Autobot bases that are under attack, and numerous Autobot teams race to respond to their distress calls. Metroplex acquiesces, with one provision—when the time comes, Sixshot will be his.

Meanwhile, on [[Chaar]], Galvatron, [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] and [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] watch footage of Sixshot's attack on Earth, with the two lieutenants quietly grumbling about how Sixshot is constantly showing them up. Elsewhere in the base, [[Punch (G1)|Counterpunch]] regards the colossal stockpile of [[Energon cube|energon cubes]] that the Decepticons have amassed, and then crosses paths with Galvatron, who explains that he is about to travel to Earth, in order to make history with his next move. Counterpunch, as Punch, heads for [[Autobot City]] to inform Fortress and the Headmasters of this, but they mistakenly believe that Galvatron plans to have Scorponok, who has been absent from their sights for some time, lead the attack against the planet. At the same time, Scorponok is discovered by Twincast and [[Steeljaw (G1)|Steeljaw]] in the ruins of an Autobot energy plant in Alaska, which he has demolished. The pair come under attack from a passing Sixshot, who blasts Twincast into a chasm while Steeljaw escapes to report back to Fortress.

On [[Athenia]], [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]], [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel]] and [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike]] watch footage of Decepticon attacks on Earth, with Spike growing more and more enraged at the villains' continuous destruction of Earth's natural environment. He is about to contact Fortress to find out why the Autobots have not done something about this, but [[Arcee (G1)|Arcee]] stops him, pointing out that they can fight each other at any time, but that victory can only be won by finding out what Galvatron's true plan is. That part of the equation is concurrently being taken care of by Punch in the Decepticons' Earth base, where, as Counterpunch, he resorts to the most basic of espionage techniques—listening in on a conversation between Sixshot and Galvatron through an air vent. Aware of Scorponok's movements on Earth, Sixshot believes that the Headmaster leader is attempting to blow up Earth as he did [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] and [[Mars (planet)|Mars]] before it, in order to stop Galvatron's master plan. Galvatron finally reveals the true extent of his plan to Sixshot—he intends to fuse both himself and the Earth together, so that he may become a [[Unicron]]-like entity known as "[[Grand Galvatron]]". However, to accomplish this massive feat of engineering, he will require many powerful transformation components, particularly to safeguard the weakest spot on his body, his head. These parts, Galvatron explains, will be culled from the finest Decepticon warriors—with Sixshot being his number one choice for this "noble" sacrifice. Punch makes a beeline for Autobot City to report all he has learned, arriving just as Metroplex convinces Fortress to allow him to join in the attack on Scorponok in Alaska.

In Alaska, Scorponok and the Decepticon Headmasters are planting another in a series of planet-destroying explosives when Sixshot arrives. Scorponok expects a conflict, but Sixshot explains that they may now consider him an ally—he is not willing to allow Galvatron to willingly sacrifice him for spare parts. Galvatron himself arrives seconds later, as Sixshot and Scorponok pantomime a struggle to distract Galvatron as the Autobot arrive on the scene. As Metroplex and Sixshot engage in an aerial battle, and Scorponok attacks Battleship Maximus, the four Headmasters surround Galvatron for their final battle with the Decepticon leader. Their fight takes them out of the chasm to a nearby ice field, where Galvatron hurls the four young Transformers into the icy waters. He is about to deliver the killing stroke to Chromedome when Punch arrives to inform the Headmasters that Galvatron's weak spot is his head. The quartet enters [[Head Formation]], bombarding Galvatron with blasts of their combined energy, but the formation is broken when Galvatron shoots [[Hardhead (G1)|Hardhead]] out of the sky. He retaliates by knocking Galvatron into the ocean, and rejoins the Head Formation; the Headmasters then collapse several icebergs on top of Galvatron, before putting an end to the villain with a colossal explosion. Sixshot and Scorponok retreat, as the Autobots look out over the icy sea—the final resting place of the Emperor of Destruction.

*All though Scourge is seen again for 1 minute in the last episode, Cyclonus is never seen again. It never explain's were he went. He could of been left on Earth but scenes Scourge is seen again it is possible that Cyclonus left with the Decepticon's at the end of the series.

*Galvatron's master plan was first hinted at in "[[Fight to the Death on Susei!!]]", and it was revealed that he planned to "incorporate the Earth into his system" in "[[Ultra Magnus Dies!!]]", but precisely what that entailed was not explained until this episode. The idea itself was a decent one (especially given Galvatron's desire to gain control of Unicron's power by subjugating him in ''[[The Transformers: The Movie]]''), but the visual execution was absolutely, ridiculously hilarious.
*Scorponok's desire for power was pretty obvious almost from the moment he appeared in the series, but his current plan for the destruction of Earth was begun in the previous episode.

On [[Nebulos]], the modifications to the [[Autobot]]s' heads are nearly complete. All that is left is to select their partners. [[Duros]], the combat veteran, takes [[Hardhead (G1)|Hardhead]]; [[Arcana]], the oldest and wisest among them, takes [[Brainstorm]]; [[Stylor]] takes [[Chromedome (G1)|Chromedome]]; [[Gort]] takes [[Highbrow (G1)|Highbrow]]; and [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel]] is placed in [[Arcee (G1)|Arcee]]. Upon activating, the Autobots feel different and decide to make a test run. The [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]] process is thus proven as good an idea as Brainstorm believed, as with the rebels' guidance, the Autobots trash the [[Hive (G1)|Hive]]'s machines. Satisfied with their trial run, the Autobots and rebels decide that it's time to get the [[Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber|Key]] to the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]]. But the Hive is watching and recognizes Gort and Arcana within the robots. Some of them decide it's time to bring the pain, but their leader decides to watch...

Meanwhile, on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], the battle between the Autobots and the [[Decepticon]]s appears evenly matched. However, there is no sign of [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] and [[Kup (G1)|Kup]]'s team, or the Key. [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]] decides that it's time to find some answers, and leaves the battle, with [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] following.

Back on Nebulos, [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]] is torturing the captive Autobots for the key, to the amusement of [[Apeface]]. However, [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] realizes that these Autobots don't have the Key, or the others would be all over them. Bad choice of words, as the Autobot Headmasters appear. They quickly overwhelm the Decepticons and free the captives, taking the Decepticon ship in the process. Some of the Hive members believe that the Decepticons should be destroyed as well, but their leader has other plans. Capturing the Decepticons, [[Zarak (Nebulan)|Lord Zarak]] offers them a deal: Submit to the Headmaster process and allow the Hive to be their partners, giving them the strength to destroy the Autobots. Scourge tells them to get bent, but Zarak reveals that the offer was only a formality. Grabbing the Decepticons, Cyclonus and Scourge agree to deal, but only with the heads of the animals. Apeface objects, but Cyclonus shows him who is boss. The "vehicle" Decepticons offer their weapons. Zarak agrees, and the modifications begin.

Back on Cybertron, Optimus and Magnus have reached the source of the Autobot leader's quest: the chamber of [[Vector Sigma]]. Using the [[Matrix of Leadership|Matrix]] as an interface, Prime activates the supercomputer to communicate with the spirit of [[Alpha Trion (G1)|Alpha Trion]]. Alpha explains that the Key is on Nebulos, and that Vector Sigma arranged for [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] to learn of it. All of this is being done to bring about a second [[Golden Age]], which depends on the merging of a [[human]] with an Autobot. Before the discussion is ended, Alpha Trion tells Prime to preserve the key at all costs. Prime is confused, but it's kinda hard to argue with God's will, after all. Optimus departs for Nebulos, leaving Ultra Magnus in command of the Autobots until his return.

On Nebulos, the modifications are complete, and the Hive members bond with the Decepticons. Zarak, however, remains behind, having plans for the Hive's city. Meanwhile, the Autobots are dragging the ship to the rebel base, when [[Cerebros (G1)|Cerebros]] arrives, badly damaged and mumbling that he found a city. The Autobots are able to stabilize him, but the Decepticons show up. Brainstorm is pissed that the Decepticons have their own Headmasters. He's even more pissed when [[Mindwipe (G1)|Mindwipe]] takes the Key from him. However, Brainstorm manages to run a scan on [[Nightstick (Cyclonus)|Nightstick]] before the Decepticons run off. Using the scans gives Hot Rod and Kup an idea. Sometime later, Optimus Prime lands and is introduced to the Headmasters and the [[Targetmaster|Targetmasters]]. With this force, the Autobots prepare to retake the Key.

Elsewhere, the Decepticons are getting grumpy, having to wait for Zarak and with nothing to shoot. Their boredom is relieved when Prime leads the Autobots in an attack. Arcee and Daniel manage to take the Key and get it to Prime. The Autobots circle Prime and Arcee, vowing to let nothing get through. However, from beneath them, Zarak raises the Hive's city. Suddenly, it begins to [[Transformation|transform]] into something else. The city lands on the ground, and from the dust rises... [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]]!

* The Autobot's heads are depicted as huge next to the Nebulons, and positively cavernous inside. Later, the heads are shown to transform into human-scaled exo-suits.

* Superhuman Spike has become super-genius Spike, magically rebuilding Autobot heads into transformable exo-suits with virtually no tools or facilities.
* If the rebels are so pathologically afraid of machines, why do they have the claws that re-attach the Autobots' heads to their bodies?
* Daniel is supposed to be critically injured and on life support machines, yet there's no sign of them aside from a funky helmet. And then even ''that'' goes away when he's placed into Arcee's head.
* Where do Chromedome and Arcee go during the fight with the Hive machines?
* Brainstorm addresses his first line to Scourge... but it's in response to something that Cyclonus said.
* When the Decepticons are abducted by the Hive, they land next to a machine based on Scorponok's city mode... right down to the Decepticon symbol already in place on it.
* Last episode, Gort claimed that "the Hive's bodies are withered and useless" due to their extreme hibernation and dependency of technology as a means of survival. Yet Lord Zarak is freaking jacked and ripped like [[wikipedia:Franco_Columbu|Franco Columbu]] when we finally see him. Intel must not be too good on Nebulos.

* Alpha Trion's description of plasma energy's effects is gibberish. "Any entity that transforms matter into energy" includes pretty much any form of life, including the organic life which he then says is immune.
* What seems to be a cut script line results in one of the most awesome errors in the whole series. Aimless walks up to Misfire and says, "I live only to destroy our mutual enemies!" Misfire responds "I think the name Aimless suits you better!" As many fans have wondered, did Misfire think his partner was introducing himself as "I, Live-Only-To-Destroy-Our-Mutual-Enemies"?
* A character model incongruity becomes apparent when Apeface and Snapdragon join with their new partners. On both their toys, the Headmaster figure becomes the head of both the robot and the creature mode. However, the model designers (or the animators, or both) didn't get the memo. Both robots are shown in their beast modes while separated from their smaller partners... who clearly have the beast mode faces on their backs!
* Right after the Decepticons steal the key from the Autobots, Spike says that "they can fly and you guys can't"... to Brainstorm and Highbrow, who both transform into flying vehicles.
* When [[Krunk]] is removing the key to the Plasma Energy Chamber from Brainstorm's body and declares, "The key, I have it!", Brainstorm's Headmaster partner Arcana replies, "Ah ha, but I have ''you'', Nightstick!" before Krunk leaves with the Key. Why not just, you know, grab Krunk?

Following the [[Battle of Autobot City]] in 2005, Scourge was created from the remains of [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]] by [[Unicron]]. Scourge was designated commander of his legion of huntsmen, the [[Sweeps]], and traveled with his new leader, [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], back to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Galvatron, Scourge and [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] then returned to [[Autobot City]] and sent the remaining Autobots fleeing into outer space.

After blasting their ship, the Decepticons believed the Autobots dead. Unicron sent a painful message to Galvatron, informing him he was wrong. Galvatron argued the point until Scourge reminded his leader "we belong to him". The Decepticons then tracked the Autobots to the [[Junkion (planet)|Planet of Junk]] where Scourge and the Sweeps dismembered [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] and stole the [[Matrix of Leadership]]. Unicron learned of Galvatron's intended rebellion and attacked Cybertron. Whether Scourge, who was vocally loyal to Unicron, fought to protect Cybertron is unknown. {{storylink|The Transformers: The Movie}}

After the Decepticons were sent packing to [[Chaar]], Cyclonus and Scourge went on an expedition to track down their lost leader, Galvatron, who hadn't been seen since Unicron went kablooey. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1}} They found Galvatron soaking in a lava pit on [[Thrull]], and much to their disappointment, discovered their leader had gone totally nuts. Galvatron was set to plow his way through his minions before Scourge took to bended knee and appealed to Galvatron's ego to stop. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2}} Scourge and Cyclonus took their leader back to Chaar to command the Decepticon army, only to find the planet all but deserted. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3}} It turned out that the other Decepticons had allied with the [[Quintesson|Quintessons]], which after some negotiation led to a Decepticon-Quintesson joint attack on Cybertron. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 4}} Scourge participated in this attack, but the Decepticons were eventually driven away. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5}}

Scourge and his Sweeps were working with Galvatron and Cyclonus to hunt Rodimus Prime, when they came across the [[Autobot Mausoleum]] in deep space. Infiltrating the space barge, they continued their attack on the Autobots until [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] himself rose from the grave to fight back. Scourge and his huntsmen fled before the former Autobot leader, forcing Galvatron and Cyclonus to withdraw as well. {{storylink|Dark Awakening}}

Scourge and Cyclonus were hunting the [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbot]] called [[Air Raid (G1)|Air Raid]] for sport, but were caught in an ambush when the other Aerialbots jumped them in an asteroid field. The two Decepticons fled through a nearby vortex and crashed on the peaceful planet known as [[Paradron]]. Finding the world rich with energon resources, Scourge and Cyclonus immediately alerted Galvatron to their find and began to plunder the world of energy. {{storylink|Fight or Flee}}

When [[Octane]] took [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] to [[Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya|Carbombya]] without permission, Scourge came with Galvatron and the other Decepticons to chastise the fueler for disobedience. His discovery of super-energon made from Carbombyan oil temporarily assuaged Galvatron's anger, but once the Decepticons were forced out of Carbombya by the Autobots, Galvatron expelled Octane as a traitor to the cause. {{storylink|Thief in the Night}} Sometime later, Scourge was hunting Octane on Cybertron with Cyclonus and the Sweeps, when their prey fled underground into the [[Decepticon Crypt]]. Scourge stood with Cyclonus and Galvatron as they eavesdropped on the Autobots, who were preparing for a galactic Peace Conference. Foolish Autobots, thinking there can be peace! Galvatron ordered Cyclonus, Scourge, and the Sweeps to intercept a shuttle commandeered by [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel Witwicky]] and [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]], but it seemed to be only Cyclonus and Sweeps who were seen thereafter.

He was later possessed by the disembodied [[Spark|ghost]] of [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], though this eventually became a mutual partnership. Starscream intended to help Unicron turn Cybertron into his new body in exchange for a new body of his own. Scourge began to have second thoughts about this until Unicron reminded him that "what I have given you, I can also take away". Scourge eventually left Unicron and rejoined the Decepticons. While searching for a new source of [[Anti-electron|anti-electrons]], the Decepticons attempted to raid Unicron's brain. Galvatron and the [[Terrorcon (G1)|Terrorcons]] occupied the Autobots while Scourge and Cyclonus went after the prize. They found a flask of anti-electrons just waiting to be drained, but upset Unicron in the process and were blasted by his internal defenses. {{storylink|Grimlock's New Brain}}

At one point, Autobot commander [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] was separated from the Matrix of Leadership by Galvatron. Galvatron, who was haunted by the spirits within it, instructed Scourge to dispose of the Matrix. Scourge decided to use the power of the Matrix to his advantage and installed it within his chest. ''Very'' bad idea. The Matrix proved incompatible with Decepticon programming, causing Scourge to morph into a hideous freak with the power driving him mad. Scourge attempted to seize control of the Decepticons until Hot Rod took back the Matrix. Scourge was left at the mercy of a very unhappy Galvatron, but somehow beat the reaper yet again. {{storylink|The Burden Hardest to Bear}}

In 2007, the Decepticons stole the [[Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber|key]] to the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]] on Cybertron, and Scourge was set with infiltrating the chamber whilst the other Decepticons performed a full-scale assault on the planet as a diversion. He succeeded, but inserting the key into the chamber led to a plasma energy burst that very nearly killed him. He was saved by an [[Energon infuser|energon infusion]] from Cyclonus, and was subsequently sent to find the Autobots who had taken the key back while Scourge was unconscious. Together with Cyclonus, [[Slugslinger (G1)|Slugslinger]], [[Triggerhappy]] and [[Misfire]], Scourge tracked the Autobots to [[Nebulos|Nebulon]]. {{storylink|The Rebirth, Part 1}}

After clashing with the brand new Autobot [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmasters]] and losing badly, Scourge and the others were kidnapped by the Nebulon group known as the [[Hive (G1)|Hive]], who offered to [[Binary-bonding|binary-bond]] with the Decepticons and increase their power. Scourge chose to become a [[Targetmaster]], getting the loud Nebulan [[Fracas]] as his partner, and the Decepticon Headmasters and Targetmasters subsequently attacked and defeated the Autobots. Scourge got the key to the Plasma Energy Chamber back and voiced his desire to destroy the Autobots completely before moving on, only for Fracas to threaten to shoot him unless the Decepticons went back to the Hive as soon as possible. At one point Scourge and Cyclonus attempted to prove their worth by stealing [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] and using him to hunt down a mysterious Six Changer. However, that plan failed miserably when that Six Changer turned out to be their own ally, [[Sixshot]]. Both Scourge and Cyclonus ditched Trypticon in battle, leading to the Decepticon city's destruction (though he was eventually repaired). {{storylink|Terror! The Six Shadows}} After Galvatron vanished during Cybertron's destruction, and the unfamiliar [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] took over as Emperor of Destruction, Scourge and Cyclonus felt even less secure in their positions. When [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundblaster]] proudly sucked up to Scorponok, reporting on a new energy-absorbing satellite named [[Solar 1]] set for launch, Scourge vowed to steal the satellite in order to gain favor in Scorponok's eyes. Joined by Cyclonus and [[Predaking]], he attacked the launch pad, but was repelled by [[Raiden]] and the Headmasters. Scourge and Cyclonus were concerned that Scorponok's latest series of attacks on Earth were more likely to destroy the planet than allow the Decepticons to gather energy. Later, Scourge and Cyclonus made arrangements for Scorponok's official society debut as leader of the Decepticons. The Autobots attacked during the proceedings on Earth's [[Moon (moon)|moon]], but all combatants were interrupted by the triumphant return of Galvatron. Millions of years ago, as [[Unicron]] entered a stage of hibernation, the first wave of his herald drone fleet was launched to scour the galaxy, looking for Cybertron. The Alpha drone designated Scourge managed to find Cybertron during the [[Great Shutdown]], an enforced shutdown of all Transformers on the planet, and managed to reactivate [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] for the purpose of observing the Decepticon from afar. {{storylink|Generation One issue 0}} However, Shockwave was soon attacked by the [[Quintesson]] [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticon]] extermination units left behind on this world. Forced to intervene, Scourge easily destroyed a number of Sharkticons and drove off the rest, saving Shockwave's life. {{storylink|Cold War}} As a way a saying thank you, Shockwave shot Scourge in the back, took him prisoner, dissected him and studied the Unicronian Transformer, gaining great knowledge of Cybertron's origin and its inhabitants. {{storylink|Generation One issue 0}}

Scourge (or another drone like him) escaped to Earth and attacked [[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]] and [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme's]] shuttle just as it arrived on its mission to search for the missing [[Ark (G1)|Ark]]. Tricking the drone into pursuing an escape pod, Jetfire managed to shutdown the advanced Transformer's systems and was dragging him back to their crashed ship when they were both buried in an avalanche. {{storylink|Original Sin}}

Thousands of years later, the Autobots were drawn to the [[Alaska]]n shore, right into a trap set by the Decepticons. The Autobots fought desperately to keep the Autobot escape pod out of Megatron's hands, and during the fighting, it was inadvertently activated. Just as the Autobots gained the upper hand, Scourge ordered the combatants to stand down, informing them that the war was over, the factionalism that had divided their race had ended, and Cybertron was now unified under a new leader. Evidently Shockwave never bothered to recover Scourge's body, as he was retrieved by the [[Earth Defense Command]] and taken to their secret base for reverse-engineering. Though Cyclonus thought him crazy, Galvatron explained the [[Darkness (G1)|Darkness]] would not let Scourge die. Scourge recovered, and Galvatron again flung him into the slag, from which he emerged in pain but fully restored. Soon, the other warriors were transformed into clones of Scourge (though Galvatron complained they should have been made in ''his'' image). The clones, known as the [[Sweep]]s, were bonded to Scourge, who was to keep them in line. Right before the Autobots found the giant jewel of the Atalstan mine, Scourge ambushed them. Announcing that the "Autofools" had reached the end of the road, he transformed to robot mode. Saying that the noise caused by the Autobots engines was going to destroy his transducers, Scourge declared that he was going to shut them up forever. After a fight, Scourge admitted defeat and begged the Autobots to spare his life. Before his enemies could do anything, he transformed back to his hovercraft form and flew away.
Scourge later challenged the Autobots to a rematch on their way to ELTA, and was later joined by Cyclonus, but the Sweep leader was defeated again. The first one was designer [[Floro Dery]]'s original, which inspired the action figure and was used prominently in the Marvel Comics stories. Fortress Maximus was hidden on [[Earth]] eons ago in order to protect the planet, slumbering in stasis beneath the surface of the planet, where [[Metro City]] would come to be built. The various keys that would enable his reactivation—the [[O-Part]]s, the [[Orb of Sigma]] and his [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]] component, Cerebros—were scattered across the globe and sealed within ancient structures, suggesting that ancient human civilizations had some hand in the process. Although his existence went on to slip into the realm of legend amongst most of the populace on Cybertron, certain high-ranking Autobots and Predacons were well aware of the truth behind the story, and, in the mid-20th century, a team of six Autobots were sent to Earth to reactivate Maximus, only for their ship to crash into the mountain that would come to be known as [[Castle Peak]], trapping them all in stasis. {{storylink|The Decepticons}}

While tunnelling beneath Metro City, the [[Build Team]] found themselves affected by a strange energy field that caused them to hallucinate and fight amongst each other, eventually forcing them to withdraw. Investigating, the Autobots discovered that the cavern beneath the city containing Fortress Maximus, and that the energy field was a defense mechanism designed to keep away any intruders. {{storylink|Fortress Maximus (episode)|Fortress Maximus}} Exposure to Maximus's energies reawakened Scourge's memories of his original mission to reawaken the fortress, but his Decepticon programming twisted the mission, and he now sought to acquire Maximus's power for himself. During this battle, Doctor Onishi was freed from the Predacons, and equipped the Autobots with tracking devices that allowed them to quickly and easily track down all the remaining O-Parts. {{storylink|A Friendly Contest}} United, the O-Parts led to the Orb of Sigma, resulting in a battle that ended with Megatron's disappearance. {{storylink|Peril from the Past}} The Orb in turn led to Cerebros, who the Decepticons and Predacons—now led by Scourge—were able to capture. Having discovered the hiding place of Fortress Maximus, Scourge utilised the Autobot portion of his energy-signature to activate Cerebros, who then brought Fortress Maximus online. Maximus, however, then proceeded to run wild, stomping his way through Metro City unheeding of Scourge's commands, until the Autobots' human ally [[Koji Onishi|Koji]] called out for him to stop, and he obeyed. Realising that Koji had been able to control Fortress Maximus because he was human, Scourge amplified the portion of his bio-signature that was [[Kelly (RID)|human]] to seize control of Maximus once more when the city reappeared in the Sahara Desert, only for the Autobots to gather a mass of human children together to override his command. {{storylink|The Human Element}} Deciding that he required a human of his own to control Maximus for him, a case of mistaken identity led Scourge to kidnap Koji's friend [[Karl]]; nevertheless, Maximus was successfully activated and piloted by Karl when he resurfaced in a jungle. By this point, Megatron had returned—having been upgraded to Galvatron by the power of the Orb of Sigma's pyramid—and Scourge chose this moment to reveal his treachery, ordering Fortress Maximus to crush his former leader. In the midst of the battle, [[Wedge]]'s determination to defeat Galvatron resonated with Cerebros, and he summoned and activated Fortress Maximus. In 2007, after a year-long anti-Transformer campaign by the [[Earth Defense Command]], Brave Maximus played a part in the goodwill campaign to repair human-Transformer relations by serving as a performance stage for the singing group, the [[Kiss Players (singing group)|Kiss Players]]. During one of their shows, the mysterious [[Sparkbot]]s suddenly appeared and demanded that the human group members kiss them. When they complied, they and Maximus were all whisked away on a whirlwind tour of time and space, with Maximus serving as their transport and base as they collected fragments of the so-called "[[Allspark]]" from famous Autobot and [[Maximal]] leaders through Transformer history. Notably, he did not demonstrate any signs of intelligence or independence during the journey.

Near the end of the adventure, while being piloted in pursuit of a mysterious golden hand that had taken several Allspark fragments, Maximus accidentally struck the "Wall of Time". With its passengers scattered across dimensions, Maximus was hurled back in time four million years and crash-landed on the planet [[Master (planet)|Master]]. His planetfall was observed by a group of Cybertronians who had migrated there, and their leader, [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress]] used the technology of Brave Maximus to refine his own "Headmaster" theory, creating [[Transtector]]s, including his own gigantic one, Battleship Maximus.

Meanwhile, after briefly adventuring in the [[Unicron Trilogy]] universe, the Kiss Players returned to their home dimension and accompanied [[Primus]] back through time to prehistoric [[Earth]].
