What [[Blot (G1)|Blot]] does through carelessness, '''Snapdragon''' does with deliberation. He loves nothing more than bathing in putrid grease pits or, if those aren't available, the running fuel from his victims' corpses. His bouts of animalistic fury and sheer love of destruction would make him an excellent warrior if not for the fact that he's also as lazy as the [[Empties]] in [[Dead End (place)|Dead End]]. His personal quarters are littered with alarm clocks shot to fragments by laser fire because Snapdragon just wasn't motivated to kill and maim that morning. His fellow Decepticons know they risk suffering a similar fate if they try to wake him, but often risk it in the hopes of channeling Snapdragon's rage towards the Autobots. Woe to the Autobot warrior who faces Snapdragon without his beauty rest. However, his lazy and appalling personal habits make him unwelcome among his fellow Decepticons, except for the equally thuggish [[Apeface]].

Snapdragon was one of the newly recruited Decepticon animals who attacked [[Autobot City]] as a diversion, so that the [[Clone (subgroup)|Decepticon Clones]] could steal the Key to the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]]. After a quick game of "kick the can" with [[Freeway (G1)|Freeway]], Snapdragon retreated and joined [[Scourge (G1)|Scourge]]'s unit in journeying to the Chamber, and then tracking the Autobots who recovered the Key to [[Nebulos]]. Snapdragon and Apeface were loyal followers of Scorponok on the planet [[Master (planet)|Master]]. Before the Headmasters of Evil abandoned Master to join the Decepticons, the duo were captured and banished into the depths of space by [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress]] and his allies for their crimes. Sometime later, they were found and contacted by [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], who brought them into the Decepticon ranks. Snapdragon and Apeface accompanied "[[Sixshot|Galvatron]]" to [[Shangri-La Island]] for the peace talks with [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike Witwicky]]. Snapdragon and Apeface joined Galvatron on his trek throughout the universe for more energy and quickly became his favorite warriors. The duo fought the [[Monsterbot]] named [[Doublecross]], although he was almost too busy arguing with himself to notice. As Scorponok abandoned Earth in favor of conquering [[Master (planet)|Master]], Snapdragon was one of his many troops seen attacking the planet's fortifications. After the Autobots arrived on Master, Apeface and Snapdragon were triple-teamed by the new [[Targetmaster]]s. Perhaps not considering the Horrorcons worthy of exerting their new powers, [[Pointblank]] and the Targetmasters spent the whole battle unarmed and in vehicle mode, and still royally smacked the chips out of the two Decepticons. {{storylink|Miraculous Warriors, Targetmasters (Part 2)}} When the Decepticons kidnapped [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]], the Horrorcons stood guard outside the [[Scorponok (G1)|MegaZarak]] base. In vehicle mode, Chromedome and Danny zoomed right past them and up the ramp into the headquarters. As the Decepticons finished preparations for their fourth tower in Egypt, the Battleship Maximus arrived to put in an appearance. [[Weirdwolf]]'s trio was the first to intercept the battleship and engage the enemy, but Apeface and Snapdragon were quick to follow. Unfortunately, Weirdwolf was leading his men in a rather bizarre and unstable totem pole maneuver, which only got worse after the Horrorcons hopped on top of [[Mindwipe (G1)|Mindwipe]]. At that point, Fortress simply hit the gas, causing the "tower of power" to topple over the side. Snapdragon was a Triple Changer working for [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] when their chief opponents, [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]] and his band, suddenly vanished off the face of the planet. They eventually found their enemies when Lord [[Zarak (Nebulan)|Zarak]] of [[Nebulos]] sent a [[subspace]] comm message to Cybertron, asking for help in ridding his world of the Autobots. Snapdragon and the others arrived on Nebulos, ready to destroy their enemies and plunder the planet for resources, taking Zarak and his band of followers prisoner in the process. After Fortress Maximus and his fellow warriors drove off Scorponok's crew with their new [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmaster]] powers, Scorponok arranged a deal with Zarak to binary bond his warriors with the captive Nebulans. With the conclusion of the first Japanese-exclusive ''Transformers'' [[franchise]], ''[[The Headmasters (cartoon)|The Headmasters]]'', head writer [[Masumi Kaneda]] felt that he had brought the story concepts introduced in ''[[The Transformers: The Movie]]'' to a conclusion, and sought to make a "fresh start" with ''Super-God Masterforce''. Whereas ''The Headmasters'' had featured the existing cast of the American animated series, and gradually introduced new characters as it progressed, ''Super-God Masterforce'' was, on the surface, almost entirely divorced from what had gone before, featuring only a cast of entirely new characters in a new scenario. Although links between ''Masterforce'' and the events and characters of ''The Headmasters'' were expanded upon in various other media and articles, the series itself is remarkably self-contained, to the point of frustration, with many important background aspects not fully divulged in the course of the broadcast series.

There is a very human-centric focus in ''Masterforce'', with the basic theme of the series being that "with the Masterforce, you too transform"—that human beings are to be responsible for the defence of their own planet. This resulted in the very ''different'' approach the series takes, which sees the figures released that year by [[Hasbro]] as [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmasters]] and [[Powermaster]]s reimagined as "[[Headmaster Junior]]s" and "[[Godmaster]]s"—human beings who connect to lifeless [[Transtector]] bodies and actually ''become'' Transformers themselves. For some inexplicable reason, this was the first Transformers cartoon to be shown in Russia, followed by the other Japanese cartoons (in the wrong order), which left many Russian children very confused as far as continuity goes.

==Storyline==
After the events of ''The Headmasters'', the [[Earth]] has been free of [[Transformer]]s for several years, until the emergence of the [[Decepticon]] [[Pretender]]s. This group of villains were pursued to Earth during the Stone Age by a group of Autobots led by [[Metalhawk]], and when both teams crash-landed on the planet, they used their special "Pretender" powers to adopt new disguises. Metalhawk and his Autobots took on the forms of human beings and began to live among the burgeoning humanity, guiding the evolution of their culture and society, while the Decepticons became monstrous creatures and tormented early man as "demons." Eventually, the Autobot Pretenders defeated the Decepticons and sealed them away, but as the series begins, they have been liberated from their prisons by the evil alien energy-being, [[Devil Z]], to play a role in his schemes.

With the return of the Decepticons, the Autobot Pretenders are forced to drop their disguises and take up arms once again, gaining allies in three young human children ([[Shūta Gō]], [[Cab]] and [[Minerva]]) who are imbued with the power of the "Masterforce" and bond with three Transtectors sent to Earth from the planet [[Master (planet)|Master]]. The Decepticons recruit their own Headmasters Juniors as well, and as the battles on Earth progress, the true objective of Devil Z's plan comes to light. The arrival of [[Mega]], [[Giga]], [[Buster (Masterforce)|Buster]] and [[Hydra (Masterforce)|Hydra]] heralds the quest for the "[[Godmaster]]s"—super-powerful lifeforms that are the perfect fusion of human and Transformer, able to manipulate [[Chōkon Power]]. With these four warriors on the side of the Decepticons, the Autobots must find Godmasters of their own, and succeed when they are joined by a young trucker named [[Ginrai]], who soon recruits three more Autobot Godmasters.

Incensed by this failure, Devil Z ups his plans by summoning [[Scorponok (G1)|BlackZarak]] (the newest incarnation of Decepticon leader Scorponok, who is busy leading the Decepticons against the Autobots out in space) to Earth. Discovering his plan, [[Grand Maximus]] races to Earth to inform the Autobots of BlackZarak's approach. Our heroes create [[Godbomber]], a drone that serves as an upgrade for Ginrai, enabling him to transform into "God Ginrai" and fight in space, allowing him to beat BlackZarak back.

The Autobot suffer a grave loss when the final Godmaster, [[Clouder|Doubleclouder]], is discovered and sides with the Decepticons, using his ability to adopt two robot forms to infiltrate the Autobots and destroy their headquarters. Without a base of operations, the Autobots are at a disadvantage when BlackZarak returns and merges with Devil Z to bring about the destruction of Mankind. As characters lose their humanity, change their alliances, and engage in final battles, everything comes down to a climactic duel between God Ginrai and BlackZarak atop the Matterhorn, where the Autobot hero must beat his opponent, or all life on Earth will be forfeit.

The '''Predacons''' are ruthless conquerers from the planet [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], led by [[Megatron (RID)|Megatron]]. When they reached Earth they found their old enemy [[Optimus Prime (RID)|Optimus Prime]] and his [[Autobot|Autobots]] already there waiting for them. Megatron claims they ravaged many worlds in the past. How they managed this, since they arrived on Earth almost out of power and fairly hopelessly incompetent, is unknown. It is officially recorded <ref>In their R2 DVD bio!</ref> that Slapper, Gas Skunk, and Dark Scream's main quality is being good for a laugh.

Eventually Megatron also gained the Decepticon sub-group as troops and a strong rivalry developed between the militaristic Decepticons and the bumbling Predacons.

There is a governing body on Cybertron called the [[Predacon Council]], who seem to have some authority over Megatron.

* According to the first ''Car Robots'' toy catalog, the Destrongers are "a rapidly evolved branch of the Destron race of Transformers, who as a whole are scattered across the whole universe and other dimensions". Evolution does not seem to have bred competence.
* The Japanese names of all the Destrongers begin with the letter G.
