Everyone except Dashtacker thought it was quite a laugh. During a search mission in the Amazon, Tacker got stuck in the mud which helped reveal the Autobot position. Big oops.

During an assassination attempt on the Autobots, the Predacons formed Predaking right before the Quintessons unleashed a nightmare effect on the Transformers. Predaking was quickly overpowered by the creatures and, after he split up, a dragon kidnapped Razorclaw to a distant castle, leaving the Predacons unable to combine again. Unfortunately, Headstrong's leg had been injured fighting a giant dream Galvatron, and he was unable to join into their combined form. Predaking was patroling space when he picked up on a Quintesson transmission. Tracing it to a jungle-like planet, he split into his component parts to locate the source of the signal more easily. Once Sky Lynx and the Autobots beat the Predacons to the transmitting journal canister, they reformed as Predaking to renew their vendetta against Sky Lynx. The Combaticons quickly formed into (the much-less intelligent) [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]] and counter-attacked by destroying Predaking's shoulder-mounted guns. Forced back, Predaking quickly put down his opponent by firing one of his foot cannons at Bruticus' head, blasting off part of his face.

When Starscream fled, lamenting Bruticus' latest defeat, Predaking attempted to follow until Bruticus crushed one of his wings and threw him onto the island. Damaged, but not defeated, Predaking easily dodged the slow-witted Combaticon combiner's rifle blast, then erected a defensive energy field around himself to deflect the follow-up shot. As Bruticus pondered a possible rifle malfunction, Predaking punched his rival in the face with a spiked knuckle, then impaled the crippled Bruticus upon Headstrong's horn, finally deactivating the Combaticons.

The captain of the Dinoforce, Gōryū is a major player in the Decepticon army. He's just not very good at the game.

Gōryū led the Dinoforce in the attack on a [[Mars (planet)|Mars]] research ship that saw [[Jean Minakaze|Jean]]'s parents die. Later he led an attack on [[Earth]]'s [[Moon (moon)|moonbase]], forcing [[Star Saber (Victory)|Star Saber]] and his forces to come to Earth's defense and make their base there. Throughout [[Deathsaurus (Victory)|Deathsaurus]]' campaign against Earth for energy, Gōryū was a loyal grunt. Often he and his Dinoforce were the first in the fight and the last to retreat.

However, he was betrayed when Deathsaurus finally acquired enough energy to free his space fortress—the Decepticon commander abandoning Dinoforce, and leaving them to die. As retaliation, Gōryū went to the Autobots, and told them the secret weakness in Deathsaurus's space fortress.

After the destruction of the space fortress, Gōryū and his Dinoforce lived peacefully on Earth alongside the humans.

As befits a decorated Warrior-General, '''Magmatron''' is capable of both elegant, reasoned judgment and wild, vicious action. Once he has set his sights on a goal, his drive to achieve it is unwavering and he will accept nothing less than total victory. Despite these attributes, and prodigious physical power, Magmatron's greatest advantage often lies in his charismatic leadership. Revered and admired by his soldiers, Magmatron fits the title "[[Emperor of Destruction]]" better than most.

On the surface, Magmatron seems to have much in common with [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]]. Both are schemers and planners, willing to subvert the established Predacon power structure to suit their plans and ultimate ambition for power, and possessing the strength to fight off any who challenge them. Their key difference lies in their relationships to that power structure. Megatron is at heart a rebel, working outside existing society. Magmatron, on the other hand, values his position of power and eminence in the current Predacon hierarchy, and though he schemes to someday stand at the top of that body, he is unwilling to risk his current high standings any more than he must to achieve those future goals. Also, while Megatron is more openly abusive and harsh with his troops, Magmatron operates with more military professionalism when interacting with his own soldiers. After the defeat of [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]], Magmatron (who suffers from a similar chronic grin, even while talking) became the new Predacon Emperor of Destruction. A loyal and effective servant to the cause of Predacon equality on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Magmatron was perfectly suited for the job. He had a long-standing rivalry with [[Big Convoy]], albeit there was a mutual respect between the two enemies.

Aboard his ship, the ''[[Dinosaur (ship)|Dinosaur]]'', he tracked Big Convoy and his [[Maximal]] recruits to the planet [[Gaea]] where he learned of the [[Angolmois]] capsules that had been launched from the self-destructing [[Nemesis (BWII)|Nemesis]]. Magmatron immediately set a course to track them down, desiring their incredible power. Competing with Big Convoy, Magmatron secured numerous capsules for the Predacons.

However, he did not keep them long. The [[Blendtron]]s, a trio of super-powerful and freakish Transformers, stole the capsules from both factions. As it turned out, the Angolmois energy was actually the lifeforce of [[Unicron]]. Offering up Galvatron's corpse as a new body, the Blendtrons released the Angolmois energy and Unicron was reborn.

Magmatron immediately challenged the Chaos Bringer but was quickly vanquished into a wormhole, leaving his crew of Predacons leaderless and rather ineffective. Magmatron escaped the wormhole toward the end of the Unicron battle, after Unicron had possessed [[Vector Sigma]], and willingly fought side-by-side with Big Convoy and the Maximals to stop their mutual enemy.

After a lengthy battle, Unicron was defeated and driven from Vector Sigma by Big Convoy's [[Matrix Buster]]. Putting aside their rivalry, Big Convoy and Magmatron formed an alliance. The Maximals and Predacons then worked side-by-side and hand-in-hand to rebuild their ravaged planet.

With this information, he formed an elegant and tightly-knit plan to travel backwards in time to prehistoric Earth and reprogram all of the remaining [[protoform]] Maximals into Predacons. Keeping his plans secret until the last moment, he revealed to his forces that the Council has ordered him to pick up where their previous agent failed: capture the rogue Megatron.

[[Chronal phase|Chronically displacing]] his crew so that they could not be detected by the beast warriors who are already there, they set to work. He ordered [[Razorbeast]] to begin activating the [[stasis pod]]s while [[Spittor (BW)|Spittor]], [[Manterror]], [[Transquito]], and [[Iguanus (BW)|Iguanus]] reported on their progress. They witnessed the birth of three Predacons, but Spittor was greeted by the Maximal, [[Polar Claw]]. Megatron insisted that Magmatron was foolish for coming after him alone, as Ravage did, but Magmatron was not alone—Iguanus and Drill Bit ambushed Megatron.

With the [[transwarp shunt]] set up and ready to send Megatron into the hands of the Council, it was with reluctance that Magmatron again did battle. This time, an intruding [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] challenged the Predacon schemer. {{storylink|The Gathering issue 3|The Gathering #3}} A tough fight, but Magmatron's triple beast modes eventually won out. Grimlock was enough of a distraction, however, to let Razorbeast and [[Optimus Minor]] enter his camp. Magmatron was thwarted by Razorbeast in hand-to-hand combat. As the Predacon lunged toward Minor, who was sitting upon the unconscious Megatron, the monkey activated a chronal displacement device. This sent Megatron back into his own chronal place, making Magmatron stumble onto the transwarp shunt. Razorbeast's meddling in Magmatron's escape caused the Predacon commander to be consigned to a temporal limbo, able to traverse the whole of history but unable to affect any of the events he witnessed. Through this, he saw the eventual end of Cybertron as its inhabitants set upon each other with beastly fury while [[Shokaract]] summoned Unicron to devour the planet. Knowing that the roots of this catastrophic event were already beginning in his time, Magmatron turned to the enemy who had consigned him to this fate. Magmatron's meddling effect on the timestream was noticed by Unicron, who dispatched [[Rartorata]] to Earth to deal with the assembling combatants there. His ability to change the future was increased further, however, when during the confusion of the battle on Earth between the Maximal and Predacon forces, a playing 'possum Ravage made contact with the chronal displacement bands. Magmatron was able to use his limited influence to hold Ravage inside Chronospace, where he was able to make contact with the former [[Decepticon]]. Magmatron stated there would be no more war, for the day at least, and reported that Razorbeast died heroically.

Although links between ''Masterforce'' and the events and characters of ''The Headmasters'' were expanded upon in various other media and articles, the series itself is remarkably self-contained, to the point of frustration, with many important background aspects not fully divulged in the course of the broadcast series.

There is a very human-centric focus in ''Masterforce'', with the basic theme of the series being that "with the Masterforce, you too transform"—that human beings are to be responsible for the defence of their own planet. For some inexplicable reason, this was the first Transformers cartoon to be shown in Russia, followed by the other Japanese cartoons (in the wrong order), which left many Russian children very confused as far as continuity goes.

==Storyline==
After the events of ''The Headmasters'', the [[Earth]] has been free of [[Transformer]]s for several years, until the emergence of the [[Decepticon]] [[Pretender]]s. This group of villains were pursued to Earth during the Stone Age by a group of Autobots led by [[Metalhawk]], and when both teams crash-landed on the planet, they used their special "Pretender" powers to adopt new disguises. Metalhawk and his Autobots took on the forms of human beings and began to live among the burgeoning humanity, guiding the evolution of their culture and society, while the Decepticons became monstrous creatures and tormented early man as "demons." Eventually, the Autobot Pretenders defeated the Decepticons and sealed them away, but as the series begins, they have been liberated from their prisons by the evil alien energy-being, [[Devil Z]], to play a role in his schemes.

With the return of the Decepticons, the Autobot Pretenders are forced to drop their disguises and take up arms once again, gaining allies in three young human children ([[Shūta Gō]], [[Cab]] and [[Minerva]]) who are imbued with the power of the "Masterforce" and bond with three Transtectors sent to Earth from the planet [[Master (planet)|Master]]. The Decepticons recruit their own Headmasters Juniors as well, and as the battles on Earth progress, the true objective of Devil Z's plan comes to light. The arrival of [[Mega]], [[Giga]], [[Buster (Masterforce)|Buster]] and [[Hydra (Masterforce)|Hydra]] heralds the quest for the "[[Godmaster]]s"—super-powerful lifeforms that are the perfect fusion of human and Transformer, able to manipulate [[Chōkon Power]]. With these four warriors on the side of the Decepticons, the Autobots must find Godmasters of their own, and succeed when they are joined by a young trucker named [[Ginrai]], who soon recruits three more Autobot Godmasters.

Incensed by this failure, Devil Z ups his plans by summoning [[Scorponok (G1)|BlackZarak]] (the newest incarnation of Decepticon leader Scorponok, who is busy leading the Decepticons against the Autobots out in space) to Earth. Discovering his plan, [[Grand Maximus]] races to Earth to inform the Autobots of BlackZarak's approach. Our heroes create [[Godbomber]], a drone that serves as an upgrade for Ginrai, enabling him to transform into "God Ginrai" and fight in space, allowing him to beat BlackZarak back.

The Autobot suffer a grave loss when the final Godmaster, [[Clouder|Doubleclouder]], is discovered and sides with the Decepticons, using his ability to adopt two robot forms to infiltrate the Autobots and destroy their headquarters. Without a base of operations, the Autobots are at a disadvantage when BlackZarak returns and merges with Devil Z to bring about the destruction of Mankind. As characters lose their humanity, change their alliances, and engage in final battles, everything comes down to a climactic duel between God Ginrai and BlackZarak atop the Matterhorn, where the Autobot hero must beat his opponent, or all life on Earth will be forfeit.
