'''''Transformers: The Headmasters''''' is a Japanese animated series that aired from [[July 3]], 1987 to [[March 28]], [[1988]] for 35 episodes, in support of the [[The Headmasters (toyline)|toyline]] of the same name. It shares its name with its opening song, "[[The Headmasters (song)|The Headmasters]]", and the ending song is titled "[[Kimi wa Transformer]]".

==Overview==
[[Image:HeadmastersPoster1.jpg|right|250px|thumb|A hilarious look at life in a Cybertronian boarding school.]]
''The Headmasters'' was the first Japanese-exclusive Transformers [[franchise]], and as such, marks the departure of the Japanese animated [[continuity]] from that of the US. Planned out by [[TV Magazine]] writer [[Masumi Kaneda]], who had previously worked on the Transformers [[manga]], the series follows on from the events of "[[The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 2|The Return of Optimus Prime]]", ignoring "[[The Rebirth]]" and introducing the Headmaster characters in a distinctly different way than their American counterparts. Emphasizing the difference between east and west, the series (and its accompanying [[The Headmasters (manga)|manga]]) employed different [[character model]]s designed by [[Ban Magami]], illustrator of numerous ''Transformers'' manga.

The "-master" concept was entirely re-imagined for the series, discarding the Western idea of [[Nebulan]]s, and establishing the Headmasters not as Transformers who bonded with organic beings, but as diminutive Transformers who connected to and controlled large, lifeless bodies named "[[Transtector]]s". Drawing on a plot point established in American episodes such as "[[Desertion of the Dinobots, Part 2]]" and "[[Fight or Flee]]", the Headmasters were introduced as refugees who fled Cybertron millions of years ago and settled on the planet [[Master (planet)|Master]], where they developed this new technology and trained hard in order to survive the harsh environment. Kaneda notes that he chose to give the Headmasters non-combatant origins in order to add an extra layer of meaning to the concept of "transformation," as the young 'bots grew from civilians into fully-fledged warriors. Consequently, it was [[Chromedome (G1)|Chromedome]]—a character essentially overlooked in the West—who was chosen as the lead of the series and cast as a "fiery youth" in order to emphasize this "personal transformation" theme, as well as to carry on the pattern of leaders with [[Optimus Prime (G1)|automotive]] [[Hot Rod (G1)|vehicle]] modes. His opposite number, and perhaps the true breakout character of ''The Headmasters'', was [[Decepticon]] [[Six Changer]] [[Sixshot]], a powerful ninja character who also embodied the “personal transformation” concept with his shifting allegiance.

According to the booklet included with the [[Pioneer]] DVD release of the series, the earliest episodes of the series were based on aborted scripts written for the unmade fourth season of the American cartoon, and indeed, after an opening three-parter that introduces the new characters, the series does indeed adopt the American format of individual episodic stories. As the series progresses, however, it develops an ongoing story and style that Kaneda openly admits is steeped in [[Toei]]'s history of sci-fi robot anime—likely due in no small part to the involvement of production staff who had a history of work in the genre, including writers [[Keisuke Fujikawa]], [[Toyohiro Ando]] and [[Yoshihisa Araki]], and producer [[Kenji Yokoyama]].

==Storyline==
When [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] released the energy of the [[Matrix of Leadership]] to cure the [[Hate Plague]], he could not have predicted the consequences of his actions. In 2011, without the energy of the Matrix to regulate it, the mega-computer [[Vector Sigma]] begins to destabilize, opening the planet up to an invasion by the [[Decepticon]]s and their new Headmaster warriors. Although the Autobot Headmasters, led by [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress]], arrive to help turn the tide of the battle, the day will not be won without the Matrix, and so [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] and the Headmasters scour the Earth in order to recover the talisman and stabilize Vector Sigma once more. During the course of the conflict, Optimus Prime dies once again, and Hot Rod again becomes Rodimus Prime.

The status quo of the renewed war sees Rodimus Prime in command across Cybertron and the Autobots' secondary command post on [[Athenia]], with [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] leading his own individual squad on Earth and operating out of [[Autobot City]]. In contrast, the Decepticons are based out of their old base on [[Chaar]], with Sixshot leading the Decepticons' Earth forces, operating out of [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]]. Operating in the shadows is Galvatron's secret ally, the Decepticon Headmaster leader [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]], who has a vendetta against Fortress for exiling him from Master. The first major shift in the direction of the series occurs when Vector Sigma develops a new alloy named [[Cybertonuron]], and Scorponok arranges for the destruction of Cybertron itself in order to keep the alloy from falling into the hands of either the Autobots or Galvatron. Galvatron is caught in the planet-destroying blast and believed dead, while Rodimus Prime decides to venture into space and search for a new homeworld for the Transformers, leaving Scorponok and Fortress in control of their respective factions.

Scorponok immediately begins a plan to harness the power of [[plasma energy]], destroying [[Mars (planet)|Mars]] in pursuit of his evil scheme. However, Galvatron soon reveals that he has survived and returns to take control of the Decepticons, leading them on a series of interplanetary raids for the purpose of gathering up enough [[Energon (fuel)|energon]] to enact his [[Grand Galvatron|master plan]]. In battle in Alaska, the Autobot Headmasters collapse a glacier on the villain, removing this threat, but allowing Scorponok to take leadership once more.

The Decepticons withdraw to planet Master, leading several refugees to escape to Earth to alert the Autobots to their plight, where a plasma energy explosion fuses the refugees and a group of Autobots and Decepticons together, creating the Targetmasters. The Autobots head for Master, where Scorponok is attempting to construct a weapon that can counter Fortress's mighty [[Master Sword]], and engage the Decepticons in a series of battles. When Scorponok's weapon, the [[Zarak Shield]], lays Fortress low, the Decepticons return to Earth in order to destroy the planet and gather its plasma energy. In a final battle at the South Pole, Fortress is super-charged with the combined energy of the entire Autobot army, and is finally able to defeat Scorponok and foil his plans.
'''Killbison''' (キルバイソン ''Kirubaison'') is the stereotypical violent jock of the Decepticon [[Breastforce]] team. He transforms into a double-barreled tank, and like all tanks, his barrels will either be (a) bent backwards (b) yanked at or (c) made useless once the first step has been completed. His [[Breast Animal]] partner is [[Bisonbreast]], a winged bull, who does not fly and is not red. This does not keep Killbison from joining with his fellow teammates to form [[Liokaiser]].

His hobbies include throwing knives at pictures conveniently hung on doors, and giving the finger every time he gets the spotlight.

(But does he kill bison? If he does, does he use every part, or does he destroy such magnificent beasts only for their tongues? Ah, the unanswered questions of life.)
Killbison came to Earth with [[Drillhorn]] and [[Jarugar]] to join their commanding officer [[Leozack ]]in service of [[Deathsaurus (Victory)|Deathsaurus]]. He and the other Breastforce members mocked the [[Dinoforce]] during the mission brefing on the [[Thunder Arrow]]. Later he and the other Breastforce took part in attacking an energy plant in the desert. The Breastforce traveled to planet [[Micro]], where they grilled Hellbat over the failure of his mission with [[Blue Bacchus]] and [[Black Shadow]]. The Breastforce's real intent was to attack Micro's lunar prison and rescue their old comrade [[Gaihawk]]. Storming the prison, Killbison and rest of the Breastforce ended up fighting Star Saber while Hellbat retrieved Gaihawk. The Decepticons escaped as the prison sank into the lava. {{storylink|Rescue! A short time later, Hellbat reported that [[Holi]] had killed Deathcobra — in fact Hellbat had accidentally killed Deathcobra himself, while trying to persuade the newcomer that he wasn't needed — and Killbison believed the killing to be on Star Saber's orders. The Breastforce attacked Holi and then fought Star Saber, revealing their combined power as Liokaiser. Gaihawk assembled the Breastforce without Leozack's knowledge to go after [[Greatshot]], but they instead ended up attacking the Autobots' Asian headquarters to draw Star Saber out. Once Star Saber had been knocked out of the sky, Killbison linked with the Breastforce to attack him as Liokaiser. {{storylink|A Deadly Battle}} While God Ginrai lay dying as a result of Deathsaurus's [[Living-Metal-Destroying Cannon]], Killbison and the Breastforce engaged Star Saber and the Brainmasters at a solar power station and managed to steal the energy there. {{storylink|Ginrai Dies!!}} They went on to attack the power station at [[Mount Asama]], only to be confronted by the mysterious new Autobot Victory Leo. After Deathsaurus used smart missiles to devastate a portion of Earth, Killbison took part in taking energy at Calcutta with Jarugar and Gaihawk, and the Autobots were powerless to stop them. {{storylink|The Tide is Turned! When Victory Leo turned up as well, the Breastforce attempted to maintain the charade, but it was spoiled by the arrival of the real Star Saber. After Deathsaurus resurrected his [[Planet-Destroying Fortress]], Killbison helped attack the Autobots then combined with the rest of the Breastforce into Liokaiser. The combiner attacked Victory Saber but was blasted back into the fortress in the first few seconds of the "fight". {{storylink|The Wrath of the Resurrected Giant Fortress!}} To keep the Autobots busy while the fortress's main cannon charged, Deathsaurus dispatched the Breastforce—combined as Liokaiser—to battle them. In the course of the clash, Victory Leo was able to blast Liokaiser into the fortress's cannon barrel, which drained the Decepticon's energy dry. With his consciousness fading and his body unable to move, Liokaiser could only utter a fading scream for help as he drifted off into the depths of space. {{storylink|Showdown!

Over the years, it has become a recurring theme for the various incarnations of the '''[[Optimus Prime (disambiguation)|Optimus Prime]]''' [[character]] across the numerous ''[[Transformers brand|Transformers]]'' [[franchise]]s not only to [[The many deaths of Optimus Prime|die]], but also to assume some form of '''[[super mode]]'''. Typically, this is achieved either by Optimus's "standard" robot mode (which usually, but not exclusively, [[transformation|transforms]] into a [[alternate mode|truck cab]]) combining with his trailer, or with another Autobot.

==By continuity==
===Pre-Transformers and Generation 1===
[[Image:G1 UltraMagnusPreviewVersion toy.jpg|right|250px|thumb|Not actually Optimus Prime. But almost. Maybe.]]Powered Convoy, the ''[[Diaclone]]'' toy that later ended up as 1986's ''[[The Transformers (toyline)|Generation 1]]'' [[Ultra Magnus (G1)/toys|Ultra Magnus]], originally represented a "powered up" version of Battle Convoy, the ''Diaclone'' predecessor of 1984's ''Generation 1'' [[Optimus Prime (G1)/toys|Optimus Prime]], which combined the standard robot mode formed from the truck's cab with the new car carrier trailer into a "super robot" mode. Some fans speculate that Hasbro had originally intended for [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus]] to survive the events of ''[[The Transformers: The Movie]]'' and be upgraded into an improved form, which would have been represented by the former "Powered Convoy" toy. Ultimately, however, Optimus [[The many deaths of Optimus Prime|died]] in the movie, and the ''Transformers'' version of the "Powered Convoy" toy appeared as a different character, [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]]. However, both the [[The Transformers (cartoon)|cartoon]] and the [[The Transformers (Marvel comic)#Marvel UK|Marvel UK comics]] presented the "combined" mode as the character's "standard" robot mode and ignored the toy's smaller "cab" robot mode (which wouldn't be explicitly featured until [[Dreamwave Productions|Dreamwave's]] ''[[War Within: The Dark Ages]]'' comic).

[[Image:PowermasterOptimusPrime_toy.jpg|left|thumb|200px|The Western world would originally only get this.]]
It is evident, however, that the basic concept of the Powered Convoy/Ultra Magnus toy inspired later Optimus Prime toys. The first one was the [[Powermaster]] Optimus Prime toy from 1988, a brand new [[mold]] that featured a transforming cab/Optimus Prime robot which could combine with the included trailer to form a larger Optimus Prime robot. An animatronic puppet version of Powermaster Optimus Prime's "super robot" mode appeared in the new opening and closing footage for [[The Transformers (cartoon)#Season 5|season 5]] of the ''Generation 1'' cartoon, together with [[Tommy Kennedy]]). Powermaster Prime also appeared in the Marvel comics, originally both in his "standard" robot mode and the "super robot" mode, which he eventually used permanently (while gradually [[scale|shrinking in size]]).

[[Image:GodGinrai_toy.jpg|right|250px|thumb|The "bling" version, meanwhile, was exclusive to Japan for 15 years.]]
[[Takara]]'s Japanese version of the Powermaster Optimus Prime toy, meanwhile, though originally designed as a new version of Convoy (Optimus Prime's Japanese name), was released as a different character named [[Ginrai]]. Ginrai's "standard" cab-robot combined with the trailer into Super Ginrai, the counterpart of Powermaster Optimus Prime's "super robot" mode. Furthermore, an additional trailer named [[Godbomber]] could be combined with Super Ginrai into God Ginrai. Ginrai in his various modes appeared in the [[Super-God Masterforce (cartoon)|''Masterforce'' cartoon]]. 15 years later, in 2003, when Hasbro decided to release a [[reissue]] of Powermaster Optimus Prime as part of their ''[[Commemorative Series]]'' line of reissues, they decided to base it on the Japanese version of the toy, including the additional "Godbomber" trailer, now named "[[Apex Bomber]]". The combined mode was simply named "'''Powermaster Optimus Prime with [[Apex Armor]]'''".

===Robots in Disguise===
[[Image:Omega Prime toy.jpg|110px|thumb|left|Why does [[Takara]] keep calling these combinations a "god"?]]In 2000, Takara released a new character based on ''Generation 1'' Optimus Prime as part of their ''[[Robots in Disguise (toyline)|Car Robots]]'' line. Named "[[Optimus Prime (RID)|Fire Convoy]]", his [[alternate mode]] was a fire engine. The engine's cab would transform into Fire Convoy's "standard" robot mode, which in turn could combine with the rear part of the fire engine into a "super" robot mode similar to Powermaster Optimus Prime. Furthermore, Fire Convoy in his "super mode" could combine with his brother [[Ultra Magnus (RID)|God Magnus]] into [[Omega Prime|God Fire Convoy]]. The characters in all their modes also appeared in the [[Robots in Disguise (cartoon)|''Car Robots'' cartoon]]. One year later, Hasbro imported the ''Car Robots'' line to the rest of the world and renamed it ''Robots in Disguise''. The characters were also renamed, with Fire Convoy becoming Optimus Prime, God Magnus becoming Ultra Magnus, and God Fire Convoy becoming '''Omega Prime'''.
===Unicron Trilogy===
[[Image:Armada JetOptimusMegaweapon toy.jpg|right|150px|thumb|Okay, not a "god" this time. Just "Jet Convoy" and "Magna Convoy".]]''[[Armada (franchise)|Armada]]'' [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] had multiple recurring combinations. In [[Armada (toyline)|toy]] form, [[Optimus Prime (Armada)/toys|Super-Base Optimus Prime]] was very similar to Powermaster Optimus Prime, namely a semi truck with the cab transforming into a "standard" robot mode, which could then combine with the trailer into a "super" robot mode. Furthermore, instead of the trailer, the "standard" robot could also combine with [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]] into "'''Jet Prime'''" (also named "'''Jet Optimus'''"). Lastly, Optimus, in both combinations with either his trailer or Jetfire, could ''further'' combine with [[Overload (Armada)|Overload]] into "'''Optimus Prime Megaweapon'''". Naturally, all combinations also appeared in the [[Armada (cartoon)|''Armada'' cartoon]]. In [[Dreamwave Productions|Dreamwave's]] [[Armada (Dreamwave comic)|''Armada'' comic]], on the other hand, the only combination that was ever featured was the Optimus/Jetfire one, in the [[Worlds Collide, Part 4 of 4|penultimate issue]] before the title was renamed ''Energon''.

[[Image:Energon Prime toy.jpg|left|200px|thumb|Only one of many possibilities.]]
During ''[[Energon (franchise)|Energon]]'', Optimus once again had a "standard" robot mode that transformed into a truck cab which carried a trailer. However, this time he wouldn't combine with the trailer itself. Instead, the trailer contained four drone vehicles, the "[[Prime Force]]", which could form limbs for Optimus's "super" mode in various configurations. Furthermore, Optimus was later able to combine with [[Wing Saber]] into either "'''Optimus Prime Fight Mode'''" or "'''Optimus Prime Flight Mode'''" (depending on the configuration), and with [[Omega Supreme (Energon)|Omega Supreme]] into "'''Optimus Supreme'''" (also known as "'''Powerlinx Omega Supreme'''"). All of these combinations were also featured in the [[Energon (cartoon)|''Energon'' cartoon]], whereas only the combination with the "Prime Force" drones was featured in Dreamwave's [[Energon (comic)|''Energon'' comic]]. Optimus and Wing Saber ''did'', however, combine in one of the ''Energon'' toy pack-in mini-comics.

[[Image:Cyb GalaxyForceOptimusPrime.jpg|right|200px|thumb|He believes he could fly.<!--feel free to replace the caption, I just felt that a representation of the mode ACTUALLY called "Super Mode" made some more sense...-->]]
The ''[[Cybertron (franchise)|Cybertron]]'' version of UT Optimus Prime had some kind of futuristic fire truck as his alternate mode. The cab and truck bed would form the "standard" robot mode, with the rest of the truck mount serving as "super mode" add-ons (actually explicitly called "Galaxy Convoy Super Mode" in the Japanese ''Galaxy Force'' version of the [[Cybertron (cartoon)|cartoon]], and "'''Optimus Prime Super Mode''' in early episodes of the [[Voicebox Productions|English dub]]). Furthermore, ''Cybertron'' Prime could combine with [[Overhaul (Cybertron)|Leobreaker]] into "'''Savage Claw Mode'''" (with Leobreaker serving as a claw arm), or with Wing Saber into "'''Sonic Wing Mode'''". (A combination with ''both'' Leobreaker ''and'' Wingsaber ''is'' possible with the toys, but somewhat unstable.) All combinations were also featured in the cartoon.

A toy version has been announced by Hasbro, but hasn't been released yet.
===Live-action film series===
[[Image:ROTF movie Powered-Up Optimus Prime.jpg|thumb|right|350px|Combined with a corpse.]]
In the 2009 movie ''[[Revenge of the Fallen (film)|Transformers. Revenge of the Fallen]]'', [[Jetfire (ROTF)|Jetfire]] rips out his spark and offers [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]] to use his parts a battle armor for his battle with [[The Fallen]]. [[Ratchet (Movie)|Ratchet]] and [[Jolt (ROTF)|Jolt]] then link up Jetfire's parts with Optimus, who proceeds to defeat the Fallen. Based on the movie, the ''[[Revenge of the Fallen (toyline)|Revenge of the Fallen]]'' Leader Class Optimus Prime and Jetfire toys can be combined into "'''Power Up Optimus Prime'''". A much simpler combination (which is not documented in the instructions) can also be achieved with the [[Legends Class]] toys, which simply have Jetfire (in his SR-71 Blackbird mode) attach to Optimus as some sort of "backpack".

A non-transforming Mega Power bots toy that represents the Optimus Prime/Jetfire combination was also released, named "'''Jetpower Optimus Prime'''". However, this toy cannot be split up into the individual characters.
'''''Transformers: Robots in Disguise''''' was the first dubbed Transformers show ever broadcast for a US audience. (Rather [[Omni Productions|questionable English dubs]] of the Japan-exclusive G1 cartoons were produced in Asia, but have never aired in the US).

:''Brazilian name:'' '''Transformers: A Nova Geração''' ("Transformers: The New Generation")

==Overview==
''Car Robots'', the original Japanese series from which it was adapted, premiered in Japan in 2000. Originally the series was not going to be imported from Japan, but when Hasbro scrapped the planned ''[[Transtech]]'' line at the eleventh hour the ''Car Robots'' line and its attendant cartoon were imported to fill the void until a new replacement could be designed.

''Robots in Disguise'' was produced and dubbed by [[Saban Entertainment]], and aired from September 2001 to March 2002. It was something of a return to roots for Transformers fiction, in the sense that many characters transformed into realistic, modern Earth vehicles instead of animals or abstract/futuristic vehicles, as was standard in the [[Beast Era]]. It also marked the return of the [[Autobot]] faction and sigil for the good guys. (The villains, initially, remained [[Predacon (RID)|Predacons]], though the [[Decepticon]]s are eventually added to their ranks as well, as a sub-group.)

[[Image:RiD Cartoon Intro Title.JPG|left|210px|thumb|There's the signpost up ahead... your next stop: The T-AI-Light Zone.]]
Animation in the series was cel-based, moving away from the CGI that had been a hallmark of Transformers television series in the US since 1996. It features many standard anime light-comedy stylings, and is replete with overdone facial expressions, comic effects like sweat drops surrounding a character's head to signify confusion or consternation, and the traditional streaked background behind the character for high-action shots or [[stock footage]] transformation/attack sequences.

Takara at the time tended to aim their Transformers line and its fiction at younger audiences than Hasbro, resulting in a more light-hearted, comedic tone overall. Storylines were typically light or goofy and sometimes relied on bad jokes, absurd imagery and slapstick. Many fans appreciated the series' humorous approach, and others did not, but comic foil [[Sky-Byte (RID)|Sky-Byte]] became a fan-favorite character.

Most of the voice actors, though veterans of other Saban properties (basically, ''everyone'' from ''Digimon''), had never worked on a Transformers series before--with the conspicuous exception of [[Michael McConnohie]], one of the series voice directors and himself the voice of [[Hot Shot (RID)|Hot Shot]]; McConnohie had provided voice talent for [[Cosmos (G1)|Cosmos]] and [[Tracks (G1)|Tracks]] in the original ''The Transformers'' cartoon.

All 39 episodes were scheduled to run during the afternoon Fox Kids programming block on the Fox television network. The third episode, "[[Bullet Train to the Rescue]]", was scheduled to air on [[September 11]], 2001, but was preempted in most areas because of the terrorist attacks in America that day. Areas where "[[Fox Kids]]" was aired on a secondary station (like KDFI 27 in Dallas/Fort Worth, TX) aired the episode that day. Later episodes were re-edited to remove scenes that might be jarring to a newly sensitive viewing public, causing these episodes to air out-of-order. Other episodes were cut entirely and were not seen in the US. Disney now owns the cartoon through their acquisition of Saban.

''Car Robots''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s opening song is "[[Honō no Overdrive: Car Robot Cybertron|Honō no Overdrive ~Car Robot Cybertron~]]" and ending song is "[[Marionette]]".
== Premise ==
The Predacons attack (a just-slightly futuristic) Earth and kidnap a famous scientist. The Autobots, who'd already established themselves in secret on Earth are ready for them and together with the scientist's son, [[Koji Onishi|Koji]], fight to stop the Predacons from finding the ancient hidden secret they've come to Earth to claim.

== Connections to other fiction ==
The ''Robots in Disguise'' cartoon was the first total reboot of Transformers fiction. As the first official material not set in any Generation 1 universe it established the first alternate continuity family in the line's history. Many episodes of ''Robots in Disguise'' featured references to characters and events from earlier ''Transformers'' series. These were typically not written by the dub team but, rather, were added by Hasbro employee [[Andrew Frankel]] after the scripts were submitted to the company for broadcast approval. These "easter egg" continuity references lead some fans to speculate on possible connections between the ''Robots in Disguise'' universe and previous franchises; but this died down as the series progressed, as the fact remains that despite these easter egg references, much of the ''Robots in Disguise'''s story is too different from any existing Generation 1 universe for it to fit well together.

The first ''Car Robots'' toy catalog established Optimus Prime/Fire Convoy's crew as a "Dimensional Patrol" that followed the Predacons/Destrongers from another dimension to 21st-century Earth. This concept does not seem to have been played up in the Japanese version of the show — if it was mentioned at all — to the point that ''Robots in Disguise'' was able to dub entirely around it.

Things got more complicated in 2006, however, when a [[retcon]] performed by [[TakaraTomy]] through online timelines and flowcharts, and [[Generation 1 cartoon timeline (Japan)|more detailed printed material]] from the [[Kiss Players (franchise)|''Kiss Players'' franchise]], retroactively established ''Car Robots'' as part of the Japanese Generation 1 animated continuity, occurring in the year 2000. Broadly speaking, this was accomplished by exploiting the somewhat-unresolved ending of the obscure manga, ''[[The Stargate Battles]]'', which had ended with the majority of Transformers on Earth disappearing for some time, thereby allowing ''Car Robots'' to slip in with minimal opposition. Most connections between ''Car Robots'' and other aspects of the fiction center on [[Fortress Maximus (RID)|Fortress Maximus]], who was tied into important events from ''[[Robot Masters]]'', ''[[Kiss Players (franchise)|Kiss Players]]'' and ''[[The Headmasters (franchise)|The Headmasters]]''.

''Robots in Disguise'', mind you, remains unconnected to the Western Generation 1 universe, and is still a separate continuity family there. And that's despite the fact RID contains more references to the Generation 1 universe than the original (and now in G1 continuity) ''Car Robots'' show because of the aforementioned easter eggs. Your head can start to hurt now!
:''Scrapper is a [[Decepticon]] and a [[Substitute Autobot]] from the [[Transformers Animated]] [[continuity family]].''

[[Image:TFAScrapper.jpg|right|300px|thumb|"I can give you an estimate by Monday..."]]
'''Scrapper''' is one of the [[Constructicon (Animated)|Constructicons]]. Once, he and his pal [[Mixmaster (Animated)|Mix]] were just a pair of construction vehicles, but a pair of [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] fragments changed all that. Though not the sharpest tool in the box, he does know construction like nobody's business. Like his compadre, he has an innate knack for grasping construction projects, and upon seeing a set of blueprints can get right to work. He doesn't want much out of life, just some oil to fill him up after a hard day's work and maybe a nice car to catcall.

:''Portuguese name:'' '''Tulho''' (corruption of ''Entulho'', "Scrap")
:''Voice actor:'' [[Tom Kenny]] (English), [[Jörg Hengstler]] (German)

[[Image:RiseoftheConstructicons-Gen2HomageVehicleModes.jpg|left|180px|thumb|"'Ey, see the exhaust pipes on that li'l red convertible?"]]
Scrapper and his good buddy Mix were spontaneously brought to life by [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] shards embedded in them. Though not quick on the uptake, the two Constructobots were able to name themselves and quickly hit the ground running...after attractive sports cars. When Scrapper noticed a construction accident about to harm [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]], he pulled over with his friend and intervened. Tidying up the construction site with a fair amount of skill, he befriended the large Autobot and pressured him into going off for an oil break...from a nearby oil tanker. After expressing his misgivings about stealing oil, Bulkhead took the two Constructobots to the old auto factory to meet the other Autobots. Scrapper and Mixmaster proved too rough around the edges even for [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet's]] tastes, and their cavorting woke up [[Sari Sumdac]]. He and Mixmaster shared a laugh over the Autobots' "pet" while [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] asked Bulkhead why he was bringing "strangers" to their base (thus proving to be none too observant in the search for AllSpark fragments himself). Scrapper then went back to drinking oil and so flubbed a catch in a game of oil-barrel-lid frisbee. The disc severed Sari's pigtails, so Scrap found himself and Mixmaster kicked out the factory by Prime.

Dejected, Mixmaster and Scrapper happened upon [[Blitzwing (Animated)|Blitzwing]] and [[Lugnut]] stealing construction supplies...very ineffectively. Once again, they intervened just before someone could get hurt, saving Blitzwing from getting creamed by the load he was carrying. Scrapper then heard approaching police sirens, which Blitzwing told them was a quitting bell, meaning they could go home. Scrap and Mixmaster indicated they didn't have a home, so their two new buddies offered to let the Constructobots come home with them, saying the pair would be welcome to stay as long as they hauled the heavy trailers of supplies. As Scrapper obligingly pushed the supply containers uphill and out of earshot, he didn't hear Blitzwing ease Lugnut's concerns about [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron's]] disapproval by assuring him that he'd take the two new bots offline once the heavy lifting was done. After the load was hauled, Scrapper was all set for an oily reward, unaware Lugnut was about to use [[The Punch|his signature punch]] upon him and Mixmaster, when Megatron intervened. Scrapper followed Megatron into the Decepticons' inner sanctum, where he noted that the Decepticons had a [[Isaac Sumdac|pet]] as well. Then Megatron had the "pet" show Scrapper the [[space bridge]] schematics. He and Mixmaster immediately knew exactly what supplies would be needed to complete the bridge, as well as where they could be obtained.

The next day, Scrapper and Mixmaster "acquired" (stole) a load of construction materials and were fleeing pursuit by [[Sumdac Systems]] police robots when they ran into Bulkhead again. Stopping the chase, Bulkhead asked them what they were doing, and the Constructobots, being trusting souls, ''told'' him. Scrapper couldn't figure out why Bulky was so upset they were working for the Decepticons until Bulkhead said Megatron was trying to put one over on them. Mix and Scrapper weren't about to stand still for ''that'', and they sped off to settle the score. Their initial complaints didn't go over well, as the Decepticon leader proved far less gentle and jovial, slamming them up against the mountainside near the mine. When he and Mixmaster said ''why'' they were angry, though, Megatron turned on the sweet talk again, spinning a tale of Autobot oppression. This proved a bit high-concept for Scrapper, but then Megatron offered to explain it over a few barrels of oil. This proved far more Scrap and Mixmaster's speed, and soon they were guzzling away while Megatron once again pitched the space bridge project.

[[Image:Constructobots smoking.jpg|right|180px|thumb|I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your circuits down]]
Showing up at the auto factory, Scrapper joined Mixmaster in revealing that they were indeed working for Megatron, since Megatron had better oil. Showing there were no hard feelings, they said they weren't about to hurt the Autobots, just come pick up the AllSpark fragments and be on their way. Optimus Prime objected, but Mixmaster called him a dipstick and knocked over the 98-ton-weakling. A fight broke out, and Scrapper tackled Prowl—without much success. Scrapper picked himself up while Mixmaster ransomed [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] for the fragments. However, once Bulkhead handed over the fragments, Scrapper had no trouble accepting Bulky's offer to have "one for the road." Of course, he didn't know Bulkhead had secretly slipped him and Mixmaster some tainted oil, contaminated by the expired fixative that Bulkhead had saved. As Scrapper and Mixmaster ran off, Mix began feeling a little queasy. Scrapper teased him about not being able to hold his oil, until he started feeling the effects too. The bad oil reacted explosively, knocking out him and Mixmaster so the Autobots could reclaim the fragments. The blast also scrambled their memories, so when Scrapper came to, he didn't know who the big, angry guy was or why he was ranting about someone named Megatron and flinging his wrecking ball at them. Confused and frightened, Scrapper decided to vamoose. {{storylink|Rise of the Constructicons}}

[[Image:'sHome Constructicons Slip.jpg|left|180px|thumb|"There is too much Coke inside this room."]]
Continuing to function, Scrapper and "Mix" resumed their obnoxious lifestyle, including oil consumption, attacking Marrmaba Brothers, Detroit's downtown auto supply store. Taking 100 barrels of motor oil with them, they quickly became the highlight of the local news, and the Autobots' attention.

Evading the police, Scrap and Mix found the trail of Bumblebee's leaking lubricant and followed it to find the source, no doubt with oil. Arriving at the undefended Autobot base, Scrapper quickly wondered how to bypass the door, but Mixmaster simply unleashed a torrent of acidic liquid, creating "a door" for them to enter. As they entered the base (quickly finding it so familiar), they ran into Sari, left behind by the Autobots. Scrap was subsequently attacked by a barrage of sound from Sari screaming after Mix asked her about where to find some local oil. Sari made her escape and trapped Scrap under a large gate, and was rescued by Mixmaster. Scrapper wanted to make an escape, but Mixmaster told him obviously Sari was hiding some primo oil, and he should grow a backhoe and follow the Autobot sidekick.

Continuing their search, they went into Sari's room and destroyed her handheld communicator, cutting her off from the Autobots. Not finding Sari, who was hiding in her bed, they continued to the Autobots' recreational area, as Scrapper admired the Autobots' large flat screen. Sari came bursting in to attack them with a hockey stick, but her plan sadly did not have a Plan B, and escaped. Mix replied she should come out, they wouldn't hurt her....much. They continued their search and found a stockpile of oil, guarded by Sari. Scrapper knew it was a trap, but was goaded by Mixmaster into getting the oil, and tripping on some oil. Scrap continued to not anger the human, but obviously Mix did not listen, and got pounded by the factory assembly line. After the beating, Mixmaster finally said NO oil could be worth this, much to Scrapper's chagrin, who had declared this all along. On the run from the Autobots once more, Scrap and Mix were intercepted by Blitzwing, who was sent by Megatron to bring them back. After giving them a barrel of the Decepticon premium oil, Blitzwing said there was plenty more where that came from. Remembering this from their prior visit with the Decepts, they then left, with Blitzwing.... {{storylink|Sari, No One's Home}}

With Megatron supervising, Scrapper and his buddy Mix later helped the Decepticons finish their space bridge. Their reward was a painful [[branding]] as part of officially becoming Decepticons themselves. When Bulkhead was captured and brought to Megatron, he begged the Constructicons for help, but thanks to the tainted oil having blanked their memories, neither Scrapper nor Mixmaster recognized him. Scrapper later suffered having to haul around some heavy spage bridge parts with Mixmaster while Bulkhead and Professor Sumdac argued over where the parts should go. He soon got sick of it and joined his buddy in an oil break. Before he could relish the moment, [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]] and [[Starscream clone (Animated)|a bunch of off-colored lookalikes]] broke into the base from above. {{storylink|A Bridge Too Close, Part I}}

Megatron ordered Scrapper to provide him backup against Starscream's clones, apparently surprising him enough that he loosened his grip and lost his prisoners. Though Mixmaster had been ordered to find Blitzwing and Lugnut, he got busy plastering Starscreams and Autobots with his cement, so Scrapper found and freed the two Decepticons instead. He later cheered on Megatron's victory (despite having no idea what this "Cybertron" thing was anyway). The Autobot ship itself then arrived to attack, and Scrapper was ordered to help Mixmaster clear rubble from around the space bridge. Things really started to fall apart when the Space Bridge malfunctioned. Scrapper was last seen with Mix, heroically trying to save the oil from a cave-in. {{storylink|A Bridge Too Close, Part II}}

[[Image:TFAni Threes a Crowd Stop Hitting Yourself.jpg|thumb|left|180px|Stop hitting yourself.]]
With Megatron disappearing in the space bridge incident, Scrapper and Mixmaster spent their free time drinking oil and watching sexy cars take their parts off until Bulkhead approached them with an offer to build another bridge. The Constructicons weren't too keen on working with Autobots, but eventually accepted when Bulkhead told them that no other Decepticons would ever learn about it. While cleaning up in [[Sumdac Tower]], however, Scrapper dug up [[Dirt Boss (Animated)|Dirt Boss]]—a new forklift Constructicon, recently given life by some AllSpark fragments just like Scrapper and Mixmaster. Dirt Boss immediately exerted his dominion over the other Constructicons, but Scrapper was none too impressed by the diminutive robot... until it took control of his motor functions and forced him to beat himself up until he admitted that Dirt Boss was the boss.

However, Dirt Boss had no interest in building space bridges, as he had a grand plan to take over Detroit by hijacking energy resources—a plan Scrapper and Mixmaster agreed on when they realized that oil was a prime energy resource. After the Constructicons spent the night stealing huge amounts of oil, Dirt Boss revealed the next step of his plan: destroying the [[Fossil Fuel]] oil refinery plant, forcing the city to come to ''him'' for their oil needs. While Bulkhead alone failed to stop them, they were soon confronted by the other Autobots. After a one-on-one with Bumblebee, Scrapper accidentally got his drill arm stuck in Mixmaster's mixing drum, causing a few sparks that set fire to the facility. Unable to stop the flames from reaching a giant oil tank that the Constructicons had climbed up on, the Autobots attached a [[plasmadynamic thruster]] to the whole thing, causing it to [[transwarp]] out into [[Lake Erie]] and explode, with Scrapper, Mixmaster and Dirt Boss still on it. {{storylink|Three's a Crowd}}

[[Image:TFAni Human Error Part2 Beachbum Scrapper.jpg|180px|right|thumb|Robinscrap Crusoe.]]
Scrapper washed ashore on [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|Dinobot Island]] following the oil rig explosion, but was separated from his fellow Constructicons. He wasn't alone though. One of the [[Dinobot (Animated)|Dinobot]]s had found him and Scrapper took to treating him like a pet. Naming the giant triceratops "[[Snarl (Animated)|Snarl]]" (guess he didn't like Slag), Scrap had taken to a more relaxing lifestyle, when Sari found him while trying to enlist in the other Dinobots help to defeat [[Soundwave (Animated)|Soundwave]] and save her friends. After promises of some high-grade oil and a few threats, the trio sailed back to [[Detroit]] on a makeshift raft. On the way, some [[Wreck-Gar (Animated)|nutso pile of junk]] jumped out of the water and teamed up with them.

After coming ashore, the "[[Substitute Autobot|Substitute Autobots]]" went to confront Soundwave, feeling confident because they not only outnumbered that overgrown music box, but they also had the element of surprise. Of course, when Soundwave burst out of the ground and sent the reprogrammed Autobots out to fight them, they were feeling a lot less confident. At first, the "real" Autobots kicked their substitutes' cans, until some smart thinking from the team's leader left Soundwave's control over the Autobots a bit lacking. Of course, when he was left with no one but Optimus, he regained the upper hand, picking up Snarl by the horns and slamming into the street. Scrap called out the Autobot for cruelty to Dinobots, but was quickly taken out of the fight when the two got crushed by a billboard.

After the Autobots were freed and Soundwave got his skidplate handed to him by Optimus Prime, Scrapper decided heroics was too much work for him (and no overtime), so he decided to take a long vacation. He tried to ride Snarl back to Dinobot Island, but the big lug kicked him off and forced him to drive back. {{storylink|Human Error, Part II}}

==Notes==
[[Image:Scrapper branded.jpg|right|180px|thumb|D-did it leave a mark?]]
*Scrapper got his name from the first thing he saw, a sign that said "SCRAP". His buddy Mix thought it was too short, so they both just settled on Scrapper instead.
*Scrapper's alternate mode hearkens back to [[Scavenger (G1)|another Constructicon]], while his transformation scheme (caterpillar treads into legs, loader into chest) is based on [[Bonecrusher (G1)|yet another]].
*Scrapper starts out in a more standard construction vehicle color scheme of yellow and gray, and only switches to the classic Constructicon green and purple after [[Branding|becoming]] a Decepticon. Apparently, his eyes changed color from yellow to red, too.
*Like his good pal Mix, Scrapper follows the construction worker tradition of showing his buttcrack.
*An early head design sketch depicts Scrapper as having a vehicle grill-styled moustache, mirrored cab window "glasses" and no helmet.<ref>Hasbro Design Sketchbook Volume 1 - 2008, p 51</ref>
* In robot mode, the neck of his power shovel comes out of his crotch. This is highly disturbing.
* In robot mode, he can transform his hand into a drill. This is likely a reference to the accessories of his [[Scavenger (G1)|alt mode basis]], where the forearm of [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] could be attached with a drill instead of a fist for a sort of battle mode.

:''Sari Sumdac is a techno-organic humanoid and a [[Substitute Autobot]] from the [[Transformers Animated (franchise)|Animated]] [[continuity family]].''

[[Image:Sari_Animated.JPG|thumb|150px|[[Isaac Sumdac|Daddies]], don't let your babies grow up to be [[Kiss Player]]s.]]
'''Sari Sumdac''', the [[technorganic]] daughter of robotics genius [[Isaac Sumdac]], used to not get out much. She spent all her time within her father's laboratories, receiving her education from [[Tutor Bot|robots]]. Despite this, she doesn't seem like a shut-in. She's curious, excitable, adventurous, and knows that crying can sometimes get her what she wants. She's just never known what it's like to be around other kids. Fortunately, she has [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] and [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] to help with that, and she claims that 'Bee is the best friend she's ever had. In fact, she's become very possessive of all her robotic friends.

It was believed that Sari was a normal human, until it was revealed that she was made from a [[protoform]] and her father's DNA. Hence, the [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] viewed her with great regard, bestowing upon her a [[AllSpark Key|key]] with miraculous powers (though her guardian, the robotic dog [[Sparkplug (robot dog)|Sparkplug]], thought it was just another chew toy).

Since discovering her true origin, she has absorbed the power of her AllSpark-powered Key to gain incredible Cybertronian powers and abilities such as enhanced strength, speed, and the ability to create destructive spheres of pure white glowing energy with her hands, as well as the power and ability to transform into an armoured form with several technological weaponry (most of which [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]] was forced to seal away after she proved unable to control it). She also owns a scooter which can transform into a jet pack.

[[Image:TransWarpedProtoform.jpg|thumb|left|200px|Megatron was also a cute little protoform like this once. Makes you think, doesn't it?]]
Sari's origins are shrouded in mystery. She came into existence when a [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertronian]] [[protoform]] appeared in Isaac Sumdac's laboratory. The baffled scientist reached out to touch the small, liquid metal creature, and received an electric shock that knocked him unconscious. When he awoke, the protoform had scanned his DNA and reconfigured into a techno-organic creature that appeared to be a human baby. Sumdac "adopted" the robot child and named it "Sari", and raised it as his own daughter over the next eight years. Understandably, Sumdac was reluctant to let Sari out into the world, and instead kept her mostly confined to [[Sumdac Tower]], educating her with [[Tutor Bot|robot tutors]] and creating robotic companions like her pet Sparkplug to keep her company. {{storylink|TransWarped}} Precisely ''how'' the protoform that became Sari appeared in Sumdac's lab is unknown; Sari herself seems to believe that she was one of the protoforms stolen from the [[Cyber-Ninja Corps]] by [[Lockdown (Animated)|Lockdown]] millions of years ago and stored aboard the ''[[Nemesis (Animated)|Nemesis]]'', but given that those protoforms were [[blank]]s, and that it was a different size and shape to all the other protoforms seen, this seems unlikely. {{storylink|Endgame, Part II}}

[[Image:SariLayingDown1.jpg|thumb|250px|[[Yūki Ōshima]] is drooling as we speak.]]
One day, when Sparkplug stole her security key card, Sari chased it outside and was confronted by the Autobots [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] and [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]], who hadn't quite yet fathomed what humans were, and spoke to her as if she were Sparkplug's pet. Naturally, she freaked out, but quickly befriended Bumblebee once he saved her from a giant bug that had grown from her father's nanite experiment gone awry. Stowing away on Bumblebee and coming aboard the [[Teletran-1|Autobots' ship]], she came across the [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]], which infused part of its power into her security key, creating the [[AllSpark Key]]. This allowed her to heal [[Transformer]]s, such as the injured [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]], earning her brownie points with the 'Bots. She also managed to talk the police down from shooting the Autobots, saying they were friendly (except [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]], who was grumpy, but not evil). Sari later helped teach the Autobots about [[Earth]] and [[human]]s, explaining their method of reproduction to a ''very'' startled [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]].

[[Image:Sariprime.jpg|thumb|left|150px|Prime was never the same after this.]]
During the unveiling of her father's new transit system, [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]] arrived and attacked. Bumblebee took a shot meant for Sari, allowing Starscream to capture him, Professor Sumdac, the Mayor, and [[Captain Fanzone]]. Sari came up with the idea to distract Starscream while she and Prowl rescued the others (even faking some tears to make it happen). The Key later saved Optimus Prime's life when she used it, in concert with the AllSpark itself, to revive his [[Spark]]. {{storylink|Transform and Roll Out}}

Sari would go on to be Bumblebee's usual partner in crime, encouraging him to engage in such questionable activities as high-profile wrestling matches {{storylink|Total Meltdown}} and installing rocket boosters to make him go faster. {{storylink|Nanosec (episode)|Nanosec}} Sari likely hangs out with Bumblebee because she knows she can scare the holy be[[Primus]] out of him. {{storylink|Along Came a Spider}}

[[Image:Saricostume.jpg|thumb|right|100px|Trivia: Transformers [[Generation 1|used to]] look like this.]]
On Sari's eighth birthday, the only other kids who turned up were the children of her dad's employees. None of them really wanted to be there and soon focused their attention on the Autobots. Sari was left alone and shunned along with Bulkhead, both morose that the kids didn't like them. Her father's present, a music robot called [[Soundwave (Animated)|Soundwave]], cheered her up, and she soon began neglecting her friendship with Bulkhead in favour of her new toy. Repeated uses of the Key turned Soundwave into a malevolent, sentient being who tried to enslave Humanity, and she learnt she'd been wrong to ignore her friend. {{storylink|Sound and Fury}}

When the [[Decepticon]]s [[Blitzwing (Animated)|Blitzwing]] and [[Lugnut]] arrived on Earth, the two Decepticons manhandled the Autobots. Although they survived, it made apparent the fact that more would come looking for the AllSpark, so the Autobots decided to repair their ship and leave Earth. Sari's reaction to this was displeasure (in the form of a high pitch shout of NO!). However, they needed the Key to assist Ratchet in repairing the ship. Sari was unwilling to help them leave, and neither was she pleased to work with a grouch like Ratchet (who was not that keen on working with a [[Protoform]]), but they managed to get her to the ship. While alone with the AllSpark, Sari decided to try and sabotage the ship, thereby keeping the Autobots on Earth (and dooming her species to enslavement and/or extinction) but the Key repaired the damage. After that, the AllSpark showed her an image of [[Megatron (Animated)|a giant Transformer]]. In her panic, Sari opened the air lock, nearly drowning, but Ratchet saved her. Ratchet then explained that they were leaving because they couldn't risk anything happening to Earth or her. Swayed by his compassion, Sari used the Key to reactivate the Autobot ship's decommissioned weapons, reducing Blitzwing and Lugnut to pieces. {{storylink|Lost and Found (episode)|Lost and Found}}

Eventually, [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] decided that the Key was no longer safe in Sari's hands, and he ordered Ratchet to take it from her. Distraught, Sari ran off crying, only to be captured later by [[Blackarachnia (Animated)|Blackarachnia]], who was looking for the Key herself. Sari basically told her "too little, too late," and the two seemed to have a heart-to-heart about their gripes with the Autobots. {{storylink|Megatron Rising - Part 1}}

[[Image:Megatron_Rising_Sari_chomp.JPG|thumb|left|175px|Isaac isn't the world's best dad, but he does know a good dentist.]]
While Sari was actually misleading Blackarachnia in circles around the frozen [[Lake Erie]], she was grabbed by Ratchet as he brought the Autobots' ship out of the lake. She was ticked that Ratchet had lost the Key and that her dad had helped rebuild [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]], but the blame game ceased after the ship crashed on [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|Dinobot Island]]. Prime told the Sumdacs to stay with the ship while they went to fight off Megatron. Fearing that they might die, Isaac Sumdac said that there was something that he needed to tell Sari, but she was more interested in finding something else the AllSpark could charge. The AllSpark refused to respond, other than cryptically displaying an image of a DNA strand. Suddenly, Megatron and Prime burst through the hull of the ship, and during their fight, the Key once again fell into her hands. Sari tossed it to Optimus Prime, who used the Key to partially destroy the AllSpark and disperse its energy. Acknowledging that he had been wrong in taking from her, Optimus Prime gave the Key back to Sari, saying that it was the strongest most powerful Cybertronian artifact in existence, it was too important to be left in the hands of an Autobot.

Unfortunately, all was not well, for Sari could not find her dad... as he was now a prisoner of Megatron. {{storylink|Megatron Rising - Part 2}}

[[Image:Dramatic_change_in_plot.jpg|thumb|The tide has turned!]]
After her father's disappearance, Sari took over running [[Sumdac Systems]]. Board chairman [[Porter C. Powell]] opposed her, saying that she was too young and wasting company resources searching for her father. When the [[Cybertron Elite Guard]] arrived, Sari was cut off from the Autobots and her only source of emotional support. She soon needed them, as police drones coming out of a Sumdac assembly line began to malfunction, and Powell was unwilling to do anything about it. Sneaking aboard the [[Steelhaven (Animated)|Elite Guard flagship]], Sari put the fear of god into [[Jazz (Animated)|Jazz]] before Bulkhead explained that Sari was okay (and Bumblebee explained that [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Prime]] was a jerk). With Optimus, Prowl, and Jazz's help, Sari managed to get into the plant's assembly line and shut down the systems. When she returned home, she found that she had been locked out of her office, as Powell was now CEO and Chairman of Sumdac Systems. Insisting that it was still her company, Sari was shocked when Powell revealed that she had no birth certificate, no adoption papers, and no social security number. Powell's smug revelation made Sari realize that not only was there no proof that she was Sumdac's daughter, there was no legal proof she even existed. {{storylink|The Elite Guard}}

After that, Powell kicked Sari out of Sumdac Tower, took Tutor Bot and Sparkplug, and gave her room to [[Headmaster (Animated)|Henry Masterson]] as an office. With nowhere else to go, she went to Autobot headquarters. Bumblebee and Bulkhead tried their best to cheer her up, employing such methods as loud music, inedible food, and unedifying teaching lesson. All they did was make things worse. Eventually, Prowl put the two bots in their place and told them to ''listen'' to her. Sari opened up about all her frustrations, such as her missing father, being kicked out of her home, her fear of Powell ruining her father's company, and the fact that there was no record of her existence. Bumblebee promised that they were there for her, no matter what, and Sari finally started to feel a little better. {{storylink|The Return of the Headmaster}}

[[Image:MissionAccomplished-Fanzoneindressinggown.jpg|thumb|left|Peekaboo!]]
And then [[Ultra Magnus (Animated)|Ultra Magnus]] decided that the Autobots couldn't be there for her, as the Decepticons had begun attacking the fringes of Autobot space, so Prime's crew were needed elsewhere. The Autobots decided that Captain Fanzone was the best human with whom to leave her. (Granted, their list of known humans was rather short and included [[Meltdown (Animated)|Prometheus Black]] and [[Nanosec]].) Before anything close to adoption could occur, they managed to convince Magnus that there were Decepticons on Earth (mostly because Starscream fell out of the sky and landed about ten feet in front of them), allowing them to stay on planet. {{storylink|Mission Accomplished}}

Sari amused herself after settling in with the Autobots by hooking up illegal satellite TV, which she used to watch pay-per-view races. (The races were also illegal, as the Autobots found out from Fanzone.) When Bumblebee wanted to join the races to compete against a mysterious blue car, Sari came along with him. Sari discovered that man in charge of the races, [[Master Disaster]], had a remote control containing an AllSpark fragment, which he used to control the blue car. Blitzwing showed up to take the fragment, so and Bumblebee had to run for their lives. Eventually, she used the remote to get rid of Blitzwing, allowing the Autobots to get the AllSpark fragment. After that, Bumblebee severed her satellite connection, saying that he had to set a better example for her. Sari advised him not to try too hard, or she wouldn't recognize him. {{storylink|Velocity}}

[[Image:Rise_Constructicons_Sari_no_pigtails.jpg|thumb|Don't mess the 'do.]]
Sari was awakened from her night's rest by the loud cavorting of the [[Constructicon (Animated)|"Constructobots"]]. A game of flattened-oil-barrel frisbee severed her trademark pigtails, which left her none too pleased. {{storylink|Rise of the Constructicons}} Subsequently she proved that she was still more mature than Bumblebee in a number of ways, warning him off of taking on villains solo just to prove a point. Sadly he wouldn't realize this until the Decepticon behind the villains' success, [[Swindle (Animated)|Swindle]] was revealed. By then it was too late, and she had to team up with those same villains to take his immobilized chassis to Sumdac Tower. Alarmed that the receptionist robot was now declaring it to be Powell Tower, she utilized the Key to rectify that little situation before heading off and successfully disabling Swindle's technology jamming device. {{storylink|SUV: Society of Ultimate Villainy}}

A while after, Prowl and Sari were honing their agility using the factory's old assembly line. Sari claimed she could complete the exercise at full speed, like Prowl, but it was set to a quarter-speed, which proved to be too much for her at that and got a massive whack upside the head for her pains. After the Autobots discovered the return of the [[Constructicon (Animated)|Constructicons]], Sari was left at the base at the command of Optimus, who told reminded her that they had almost decapitated her [[Rise of the Constructicons|the last time they met]]. Also, he doubted she would be able to take on a pair of two-story robots. At first Sari sulked at her situation, before realizing that she was completely alone in the base and did what any eight-year-old kid would do in an abandoned factory: raid the vending machines, use cranes as miniature G-force slings and try to take on Prowl's obstacle course at full speed (which went as well as last time).

[[Image:SariNoOne%27sHome-Mixmaster%2CScrapperandSari.jpg|thumb|left|200px|They're here to kick aft and drink oil. And they're all out of oil.]]
While listening to her music, Sari failed to notice the alarms going off, which heralded the invasion of the Constructicons who were looking for [[Oil|a drink]]. After the two louts accidentally crushed her cell phone and left her with the option of sneaking to the communications room to call the Autobots for help, Sari decided—after a council of war with her teddy bear—to take on the two bots using her trusty hockey stick (which shatters soon after she strikes them with it). She escaped and made it to the communication room, contacting Bumblebee who told her to hide and wait until they finish fighting off the recently appeared [[Blitzwing (Animated)|Blitzwing]], who was also looking for the Constructicons. Sari concluded that it would be too long and set up a trap for the two invaders, using three barrels of oil to trip them up and the plant's assembly line to knock them around for a while, forcing [[Mixmaster (Animated)|Mixmaster]] and [[Scrapper (Animated)|Scrapper]] to flee. The Autobots returned to find the place in ruins, but Sari showed them that she was all right. Optimus both apologized for his previous comments and lauded her for her bravery, and all was well for Sari—if she could just explain away the mountain of candy wrappers Optimus discovered.... {{storylink|Sari, No One's Home}}

Sari later posed for a Picasso-style picture done by Bulkhead. The results were...interesting, to say the least. After criticism by the Autobots, a depressed Bulkhead walked out, and Sari and Bumblebee went to cheer him up. During a walk in the park, Megatron attacked them, carrying an imprisoned Isaac Sumdac with him, and Sari realized that Megatron had kidnapped him all those months ago. (Apparently, that hadn't occurred to anyone else.) While she looked on helplessly, Megatron managed to kidnap Bulkhead. When she returned to the plant, she heard the Autobot [[Blurr (Animated)|Blurr]] reveal that Professor Sumdac was helping the Decepticons build a [[space bridge]] to conquer Cybertron. Sari refused to believe that her father was willingly helping the Decepticons and got a promise out of Optimus Prime to bring him home alive. Heading to Dinobot Island, Ratchet and Sari worked to bring the Autobots' ship back online. Ratchet realized that they would need riskier repairs to bring achieve their goal. {{storylink|A Bridge Too Close, Part I}}

[[Image:TFA_ABTC_Sari_spoilers.jpg|thumb|150px|It's a strange thing when the human companion's story arc is more interesting than the robots.]]
As Ratchet worked, he explained that the ship was an Autobot who had sacrificed his spark two million years ago. Sari was doubtful that it would come back online... until it spoke to her. She proceeded to use the Key on several of the ship's systems, under Ratchet's direction, until it was able to take off. Taking it to the mine where the Decepticons were based, Sari managed to give the ship enough power to transform into its robot mode, [[Omega Supreme (Animated)|Omega Supreme]]. The massive Autobot turned the tide of the battle, but sacrificed himself to save the others from being sucked into the space bridge. The Autobots managed to escape, with both Sari and Isaac in tow, and Isaac revealed that he had been forced to work with the Decepticons. Overjoyed that her father was safe and still a good guy, Sari dubbed Isaac Sumdac the most honest and trust-worthy guy that anyone could hope to find. It was at that point that everyone assembled noticed that the skin on Sari's elbow had torn away, revealing robotic circuitry underneath. {{storylink|A Bridge Too Close, Part II}}

Although Sari was at first scared by this strange discovery, her fear quickly gave way to anger at her father for having kept the secret that she was a robot from her for years. As they returned to Detroit, Sumdac explained how he had found Sari in his lab years before, but the girl remained incredulous, and things only got worse when the pair confronted Porter C. Powell and Henry Masterson back in Sumdac Tower. When the two men refused to vacate the building, Sari's strained patience snapped, and her hands suddenly transformed into energy projectors, which created a shock wave that knocked the pair of do-badders into the elevator. Struggling to comprehend her true nature, Sari went with the Autobots to their headquarters, unable even to be in the same building as the man she could no longer even think of as her father. Optimus Prime did his best to patch up the damaged family relationship by tricking Sari into meeting with Sumdac at [[Burger Bot]], but it wasn't until Masterson returned with his Headmaster unit attached to Starscream's body that the bonds between father and daughter were repaired, as Sari and Sumdac defended each other from the villain.

[[Image:TransWarpedSariFocus.jpg|thumb|left|Okay Sari, focus. Let go of old thinking, focus on the transformation within. The key is finding the balance in yourself. Then, and only then, can you truly say...]]
Sari quickly began to get a handle on her new Cybertronian powers and abilities, learning to channel and project beach ball-sized spheres of pure white lightning-like energy from her hands, but the Autobots still refused to allow her to accompany them into battle against a rock-like alien creature that had just [[transwarp]]ed into the middle of Detroit. Seeking a means to strengthen and increase her powers and abilities, Sari turned her Key upon herself and underwent a surprising metamorphosis: Her body was "aged" so that she appeared to be a thirteen-year-old teenager, and she sprouted powerful battle armor equipped with jet-skates, arm-blades and an energy sledge-hammer.

[[Image:TransWarpedSariUpgrade.jpg|thumb|150x200px|..."I am transformed!"]]
Although Sari's new powers and abilities amazed the Autobots when she made short work of the rock-alien, things soon started to go wrong, as the Key's energy began overloading Sari's circuitry, causing her to run out of control. Unable to control her own body and causing objects around her to explode with her merest touch, Sari nearly killed Bumblebee by stabbing him with one of her blades before the Autobots were able to remove the key from her system. Even with the Key extracted, Sari's energies were still running wild, and she was in danger of exploding and destroying the entire city before Ratchet knocked her out with his EMP generator. Once they returned to the Autobot base, he bypassed the circuitry responsible for her overload.

[[Image:TransWarpedBumblebeeSari.jpg|thumb|left|''You've been hit by/ You've been struck by/ A smooth criminal'']]

As Sari convalesced, her father at her side, Megatron returned to Earth in control of Omega Supreme. Optimus Prime was forced to contemplate undoing the repairs done to Sari and using her to stop the rampaging superweapon as a last-ditch desperation play. When Starscream took control of Omega away from Megatron and locked down all the entrance hatches to prevent the Autobots from infiltrating the robot (again), he came to the point of ordering Ratchet to do so. Fortunately for Sari's (and Detroit's) continued existence, Ratchet refused, and the Autobots ultimately transwarped the threat off Earth. Soon after, Sari awoke and apologized to her friends for her foolishness, while her father apologized to her for holding back the truth for so long. {{storylink|TransWarped}}

After convalescing, she was next seen on [[Christmas]] Eve, making some [[oilnog]] for the Autobots and warning them to stay off Santa's naughty list. When they went to bed early, thanks to a [[Sound Wave]] toy spiking the 'nog, she called them a bunch of party-poopers, but wished them a Merry Christmas and went home.

The next morning, she wasn't happy to receive another Sound Wave toy from her father, given [[Sound and Fury|what had happened with the last one]], and was further disappointed when she was given a motor scooter rather than a car... until she found out that it transformed into a jet pack. Overjoyed, she transformed to her robot mode and flew off to show Bumblebee. When she arrived at the Autobots' base, she found it apparently deserted, and was further puzzled when the base's scanners showed their energy signatures in the factory itself. The appearance of a [[Laserbeak (Animated)|creepy robot bird]], leading a number of Sound Wave toys from an elevator in the floor (which she'd not known about before), didn't help matters, so she used her palm blasters on them and took the lift down.

In the basement, she found the Autobots wired into a VR machine by a fully rebuilt Soundwave. With most of her weaponry offline, she was no match for him and his instruments when she tried to stop him. She was forced to retreat, promising to come back for her friends.... {{storylink|Human Error, Part I}}

While she was flying back to Sumdac Tower, Soundwave decided to take over the whole city of Detroit, using the small Sound Waves to carry his hypnotic tunes, since reprogramming the Autobots was taking too long. As such, she arrived back to find a Sound Wave toy blaring hypnotic music at her... and kicked it out of the way. Soundwave deduced that her techno-organic nature made her immune to the music, and he shifted focus to trying to force everyone ''else'' to kill her, starting with her father!

After reluctantly dropping a shelving unit on her dad to make her escape, she flew to Dinobot Island for help. Her initial foray met with little success, since [[Grimlock (Animated)|Grimlock]] and [[Swoop (Animated)|his pteranadon comrade]] refused to help, tried to kill her, then left her alone when she blasted at them. Grimlock's mention that the third member of his group had been kicked out for becoming someone's "pet" raised her curiosity, though, and she soon found Scrapper, separated from the other two Constructicons by [[Three's a Crowd|a big explosion]], on the island's shore playing with "[[Snarl (Animated)|Snarl]]", and she managed to conscript the two into rescuing the other Autobots.

On their way back to the mainland on a makeshift raft, [[Wreck-Gar (Animated)|Wreck-Gar]] abruptly popped up from the lake's bottom and immediately became the fourth member of the troupe of [[Substitute Autobot|Substitute Autobots]]. Once they were ashore, Sari's chaotic attempt to get them to transform and roll out nearly had them leave her behind, but it became moot before too long when Soundwave flew out of the ground, followed by the brainwashed Autobots. Initial attempts by her group at fighting them went badly, as the Substitute Autobots proved incapable of working at a team, while the zombie-Autobots acted as a single, elegant machine under Soundwave, and Soundwave could even control her own jet pack. Sari then changed tack, abandoning efforts to co-ordinate her group and ordering them to attack as individuals. Soundwave's single, elegant machine had trouble multitasking, apparently leading to Prowl saving Sari from death at Bumblebee's stingers in an attempt to deliver his own blow.

This lasted until, with four Autobots down, only Optimus Prime remained... whereupon Soundwave could concentrate on controlling just one Autobot properly. As a result, Sari was almost killed by the enslaved Optimus—but was saved again by Prowl, who openly revealed that he'd broken Soundwave's control in knocking Ratbat away from him. Shortly after, Soundwave was again shattered into many pieces, and Sari could once again concentrate on celebrating Christmas with her adopted family and her father. {{storylink|Human Error, Part II}}

[[Image:TFA-DecepticonAir-SariHands.jpg|thumb|Ghost in the Shell? Don't you mean [[Ghost in the Machine]]?]]
When Bulkhead and her father belatedly completed the space bridge they'd been working on (after the purpose they'd been making it for had been accomplished), Sari objected that they would have gotten it working sooner if they'd let her help. They scoffed and went back to bickering about the final tweaks... so Sari took it upon herself to head over to the console, where her eyes glowed white, her hands separated into wires, and she finished the setup in seconds. When Optimus asked just ''how'' she'd managed that, she replied that she didn't know how, she just... had. Further, when Sentinel Prime sent an encoded message to Optimus that things had gone horribly wrong on the Elite Guard's ship, Sari managed to lock onto the transwarp signature of Swindle's personal storage dimension to get Optimus aboard, after Bulkhead wasn't sure it was even possible.

[[Image:TFA-DecepticonAir-SariKnowsStuff.jpg|thumb|left|"I'm Sari Sumdac. I know stuff."]]
Later, after Swindle had departed the ship and Bulkhead wasn't sure he could retrieve Optimus, she claimed she could fix it and that she'd figured out why, guessing she must have upgraded her "processor... or brain or whatever" as part of her wider upgrade. However, putting it to the test wasn't necessary, as the ship dropped off Optimus at Sumdac Tower, safe and sound. {{storylink|Decepticon Air}}

When Optimus Prime abruptly decided he needed a jetpack of his own, Sari, along with Ratchet and her dad, was called into service to make it happen, which included Sari diagnosing a problem just by touching it. {{storylink|Endgame, Part I}} The flight pack soon got its baptism of fire when Megatron unleashed a trio of [[Lugnut Supreme]]s on Detroit. Initially, Sari wanted to confront the giant Decepticons with Optimus and Prowl, but Optimus told her no. As she began to throw a hissy-fit about being kept back for her own safety again, he cut her off and told her he wanted her to help protect her "fellow organics" with the other Autobots. Embarrassed, she backed down.

Later, when Ratchet, Bumblebee and Bulkhead were about to depart for the Moon in an attempt to take back the original Omega Supreme, she insisted on transwarping there with them. Her worried father attempted to forbid her, but she told him that she knew there was something there she needed to do, and flew into the space bridge. Once there, Sari could hardly believe she was really on the Moon, but her amazement was soon tabled when Ratchet spotted Arcee, leading to the quartet being ambushed by [[Shockwave (Animated)|Shockwave]]. While Bumblebee and Bulkhead held the shape-shifting Decepticon off, Sari and Ratchet headed into Omega Supreme's inactive body with the damaged fembot and found the lab Shockwave had been using. Although slightly freaked out by the female robot's mindless repetition of lessons for young Cybertronian 'bots, Sari was able to use her technopathy to tell Ratchet how to restore her mind. Shortly after Arcee came fully back online, Bumblebee and Bulkhead came in with news for Sari. They took her down into the hold of the [[Nemesis (Animated)|Decepticons' ship]], where several blank protoforms lay. Believing that this was where she had come from, Sari reached out to touch one of the protoforms, confirming for herself that there really had been a reason for her to be there.

Meanwhile, Ratchet and Arcee had broken Lugnut's hold over Omega Supreme and reactivated the giant Autobot, and Sari joined the others in flying back to Earth aboard the ship. As he fought with his purple duplicates, those inside were shaken about. After a particularly hard hit from the last clone standing, which forced Omega to transform to ship mode and crash-land, he checked that those inside were all right, whereupon Sari noted that "all Autobots, half-bots and almost-bots" were present and accounted for. Shortly afterward, Prowl gave his spark to shield the city from the last Omega-clone's detonation, and Megatron was defeated and arrested. Sari accompanied the Autobots back to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] to share in their triumphant return and learn of her true origins. {{storylink|Endgame, Part II}}
====''Prime Suspect''====
When Optimus Prime was framed for a break-in at [[HomeTech]], Sari had the idea to break into the police station to look for clues. Teamed up with [[You|another kid]], she was almost caught, but the Autobots rescued them at the last moment. The pair then entered HomeTech's laboratory to look for the security tape on which Prime's image had been captured, and they found a vital clue which led them to HomeTech's main warehouse. There Sari was interested in the [[Pixie-6]] robots HomeTech was due to release, but was menaced by Blitzwing, the real perpetrator of the break-in. She was able to utilize her key to zap Blitzwing via the controller he was using on the Pixie-6 'bots. {{storylink|Prime Suspect}}

====''Quest for the AllSpark''====
Distraught after the Autobots went missing without telling her, Sari visited their base on the urging of another kid she'd just met. After being attacked by a rogue cleaning 'bot, she found Bumblebee, who revealed that Megatron had taken control of Detroit's fleet of robot workers and the Autobots had come up with a plan to keep the AllSpark safe, but the rest of the Autobots hadn't reported back. Sari and her new friend helped Bumblebee track down the others and defeat [[Crush-A]], a clearance 'bot Megatron was using to try to obtain the AllSpark. {{storylink|Quest for the AllSpark}}

====''Web of Deception''====
Sari was testing one of her father's inventions, the [[Sumdac Aquaskimmer Mk 1]], on Lake Erie with a young friend when they were attacked by a [[Sparkseeker]] torpedo. After a quick rescue by the Autobots, the group found the Autobot ship offline and Optimus Prime missing. Ratchet's scans revealed the involvement of Lockdown, and Sari and her friend accompanied Bumblebee, Prowl and Bulkhead in an attempt to rescue their leader. After tangling with Lockdown, the two humans caught up with Blackarachnia, who'd hired the bounty hunter in order to get her revenge on Optimus. Sari used her key to shock the Decepticon before she could complete her plan. {{storylink|Web of Deception}}

When Starscream and [[Starscream clone (Animated)|his clones]] seized the Autobot base, Sari immediately fled to Dinobot Island to get help. She found out the Dinobots were being made grouchy by the constant rain, so she promised they could stay in the Autobot base until it stopped if they drove out the Decepticons. That made Sari Grimlock's friend and left the Autobots crying when they saw the weather forecast. {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 17|Dino-MIGHT!}}
Being present for [[Quake-Maker|Quake-Maker's]] first attack on Detroit, she got to see the arrival of shiny new hero [[Afterburn]]. She was smitten at first sight. {{storylink|Animated Comic issue 1|Burnout}} She even got to hang with him on a mission to Dinobot Island! As well as be stunned by his ace moves, she used her Key to heal a wounded Grimlock and suffered emotional abuse when Ratchet faked his death to test Afterburn. {{storylink|Animated Comic issue 2|Ratchet & Grimlock Are DEAD?}}

Later, while watching a basketball game, Sari had to help stop an attack on the city by the villainous [[Crossroads]]. She'd met the supervillain when he'd worked at [[Sumdac Systems]] but his awesome disguise of a blue strip of cloth on his head threw her for a few minutes. Once she'd worked it out, she was able to inform the Autobots he was heading for [[Sumdac Tower]] and helped see to his defeat. {{storylink|Animated Comic issue 3|Crossroads!}}

Sari hit on a solution to Bumblebee and Prowl's macho posturing, setting up a race between the two in [[Crazy Coyote Canyon]] to determine who was the fastest. And she drew [[:Image:CoyoteCanyonmap.jpg|an adorable little map]] of the race track. {{storylink|Transformers Comic issue 25|The Race}}

While roaming aimlessly around the middle of the street, Sari was nearly run over by a fleet of vehicles. To her astonishment, they transformed into robots. Terrified, she asked who they were, and [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] introduced them as the heroic [[Autobot]]s. Suddenly, [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]], [[Lockdown (Animated)|Lockdown]] and [[Blackarachnia (Animated)|Blackarachnia]] attacked, attempting to steal the [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]]. Prime scooped Sari up, protecting her from a violent explosion as the Autobots and the [[Decepticon]]s clashed. {{storylink|The Cool issue 1|The Cool #1}}

Starscream eventually succeeded in stealing the AllSpark from [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] and nearly made off with it. Prime, however, stopped him by releasing all the energy within it. Prime plummeted to the ground and died, but was instantly revived by Sari's [[AllSpark Key|key]]. Sari and Prime then properly introduced themselves as Sari wept and gave Prime a big, snuggly hug. Unbeknownst to Sari, though, she was being observed via closed circuit TV by the disembodied head of [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]], who was very interested in the power of her key. {{storylink|Intense AllSpark Competition!}}
[[Image:Sari_tbob_trike.jpg|thumb|right|I d-d-don't think th-this is s-such a g-g-good idea, Scott!]]
* A promotional image of Sari from the [[Cartoon Network]] ''Transformers Animated'' press kit showed her with different shoes, a different Key design, and a slightly darker skin tone.

* In a preliminary version of the opening credits, Sari appeared riding on a tricycle which she used the AllSpark Key to transform into a jet pack. The footage was dropped from the finished credits, but was screened at conventions and was later included on the DVD packaged with the Optimus Prime and Megatron "The Battle Begins" action figure two-pack. The concept was later recycled as a Christmas present from her father in "[[Human Error, Part I]]"; instead of a tricycle, she has an orange scooter which transforms into a jet pack compatible with her robotic body. She may have been gone for four episodes, but now she can fly!

* Sari's pigtails do ''not'' grow back overnight... or do they?

* Sari has a transformation noise shared only with her scooter/jetpack, likely because of her rather unique origin.

* Sari did not appear for four episodes in S3—between "[[Three's a Crowd]]" and "[[Predacons Rising]]"—after her almost-disastrous upgrade, the longest time she has been absent in the series so far. Well, considering the shift in focus... not to mention [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Prime]]'s presence on Earth for three of those episodes, perhaps it's just as well. He'd probably have totally freaked out as soon as he saw her.

* Ever since her [[TransWarped]] upgrade, she has what appear to be [[articulation]] lines on her sleeves and stockings/socks.

* Sari's hands can transform into several different modes, two of which pay homage to the anime ''Ghost in the Shell'' and ''[[Iron Man]]''.

* From [[TransWarped]] onward, her eyes were an inverted version of Autobot eyes, with the lighter shade of cyan as the "whites" and the darker shade as the "iris".

* Despite the controversial [[AllSpark Key]] no longer being a part of the series, it can be argued that Sari is slowly turning into a ''deus ex machina'' just like it in her own right, merely by virtue of [[Decepticon Air|"knowing stuff" crucial to the storyline]] (often ''without'' a proper explanation), as well as being able to diagnose mechanical problems [[Endgame, Part I|merely by touching a given machine]].

* According to the panel at the 2009 Botcon, Sari's Cybertronian/robotic nature was planned from the very beginning.[http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/transformers-news-rumors/236269-botcon-2009-animating-animated-panel-coverage.html]

*Sari is one of two Transformers with a [[Alice|human alt-mode]] and is one of three techno-organic Transformers in the ''Animated'' continuity, the other two being [[Blackarachnia (Animated)|Blackarachnia]] and [[Wasp|Waspinator]].

* In "TransWarped", Sari showed off her skills with twin white energy blades that came from her forearms and an energy hammer. After being knocked out by Ratchet's EMP, those weapons vanished for the rest of the series, leaving her with only her energy sphere-throwing attack.

* According to ''[[Transformers Animated: The AllSpark Almanac Volume 2]]'', Sari's post-upgrade weapons and tools include [[Master Blade]]s, a Hyperspace Hammer, Asura Skates, and a [[Skyboom (Armada)|Skyboom Shield]]. She also uses [[Micron Booster]]s to make powered jumps.

[[Image:Wreck-garanimatedpoint.jpg|right|360px|thumb|Put down that chainsaw and listen to me!]]
Recently brought to life by the power of the [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]], '''Wreck-Gar''' is simple-minded and highly suggestible. As he attempts to learn more about his identity, he never loses his sense of humor. His trash bin is an impressive bag of tricks, able to stash and deploy many useful (and even more useless) items at a moment's notice, or make them seemingly disappear forever. This ability is a bit of a mixed blessing, as Wreck-Gar will frequently confuse your request with something that sounds vaguely similar.

Wreck-Gar's primary goal in life is to acquire an identity. Additionally, he is eager to help people and be liked. He will automatically take on whatever role is suggested to him. This makes him rather unpredictable and prone to making the wrong move at the wrong time. However, if he can learn to think for himself instead of relying on others, there's potential in this friendly mix-and-match bot.

[[Image:Wreck-garisgoodforonlyonething.jpg|left|180px|thumb|OKAY I CAN HEAR YOU NOW!]]

Wreck-Gar emerged from a garbage scow, activated by a shard of [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] energy that was close to [[Sari Sumdac]]'s [[AllSpark Key]], self-aware but with no sense of history or identity. He tried to figure out what he was by studying objects in his environment and was briefly tricked by a food label into thinking he was high-fructose corn syrup. Spying a blimp proclaiming the [[Detroit]] Metro Police Department was "here to help", Wreck-Gar went off in search of the police for help. Once ashore, Wreck-Gar's clumsy curiosity prevented police officers from apprehending the [[Angry Archer]], and the villain quickly conscripted Wreck-Gar as a sidekick, even giving the confused mechanoid his new, shorter name (as "worthless-''wreck''-walking-pile-of-''gar''bage" was a bit overlong). Wreck-Gar helped the Archer disable an armored car, allowing him to steal a canister of unknown content right in front of the [[Autobot]]s [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]] and [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]].

Upon seeing the Autobots and overhearing that they protected life and caught bad guys, Wreck-Gar decided he wanted to do that, slapped an [[Insignia|Autobrand]] on his chest, and chased the escaping Archer. Throwing the Archer high into the air in order to "catch" him, Wreck-Gar only got the canister, as the Archer used a grappling arrow to escape. After being harshly told by Ratchet he was only good for one thing, ''GARBAGE!'', Wreck-Gar proudly declared he was good for only one thing—''GARBAGE!''—and set about trying to deliver the stinky stuff to the entire citizenry of Detroit. (Detroit just happened to be in the middle of a garbage strike as well. Hooray!) The Autobots gave chase, having discovered the canister Wreck-Gar held contained experimental [[Sumdac Systems]] garbage-eating microbots, which Ratchet worried would be dangerously mutated by Wreck-Gar's AllSpark energy.

[[Image:Wreck-garanimatedvehicle.jpg|right|180px|thumb|Buy some sensible shoes and a Chevrolet!]]

This mission became much more dangerous when he was approached by [[Lugnut]], who was out to retrieve the AllSpark shard from Wreck-Gar's body. Thanks to Wreck-Gar's habit of repeating everything said to him (specifically, Ratchet's proclamation that "you're not an Autobot, and you never ''will be'' an Autobot!"), Lugnut believed the newcomer was just as much a loyal [[Decepticon]] as himself. When Ratchet accosted Wreck-Gar, Lugnut prepared his [[Punch of Kill Everything]], which Wreck-Gar took to mean the [[universal greeting]], so he gave Lugnut a high-five that left a colossal impact crater. As the Autobots ran for it, Wreck-Gar hopped on the pursuing Lugnut, pulling out the now-cracked microbot canister he'd gotten. A small amount spilled on Lugnut and began eating through his tail section. Wreck-Gar helpfully disassembled the tail, sending Lugnut plummeting somewhere in Detroit, with himself and the tail landing in a full garbage scow, which the nanobots quickly began to consume. From the shore, a group of bystanders began cheering as they saw the scow's load diminish. Now supplied with a fresh load of garbage and mistaking the cheers as intended for his delivery of said garbage, Wreck-Gar pushed the scow full steam ahead.

Wreck-Gar's attempt to deliver it was impeded by Ratchet, who first screamed at the junk-bot that the nanobots would destroy the entire city should they reach shore, but Wreck-Gar was adamant. Ratchet then did the hardest thing he'd ever had to do: ''apologize'' for his insults and bad attitude. Ratchet told the now-even-more-confused robot that he could be whatever he wanted and to not let others decide for him who he was. Wreck-Gar decided he truly wanted to be a hero, and slapping the Autobot symbol on his chest once again, began vacuuming up the nanobots. The nanobots began to overload within his backpack, however, and as Wreck-Gar tumbled off of what was left of the scow, he cried out his thank-you to Ratchet. An explosion of AllSpark energy burst from the water, and all Ratchet's magnetic power could retrieve was random junk...

And, at the bottom of the lake, Wreck-Gar smiled to himself, a hero. Despite being buried up to his shoulders, he assured the fish passing by he was there to help...but first...could somebody give him a hand or a fin? {{storylink|Garbage In, Garbage Out}}

[[Image:Wreck Gar Polka Party.jpg|thumb|180px|left|You better squeeze all the Charmin you can, when Mr. Whipple's not around!]]

Eventually roused from his lakebed slumber by the crude raft of Sari Sumdac's [[Scrapper (Animated)|ragtag]] [[Snarl (Animated)|crew]], he joined the [[Substitute Autobot]]s to help liberate Detroit from the grip of [[Soundwave (Animated)|Soundwave]]. A bit less befuddled than in previous encounters, he proved (mostly) effective in aiding Sari in battle, only being defeated once Soundwave was able to focus his attentions solely on controlling [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]]. Afterward, he enthusiastically pitched in on the cleanup efforts, collecting the scraps of hundreds of [[Porter C. Powell]]'s damaged Soundwave toys.

He even got into the [[Christmas|holiday]] spirit a bit, playing Santa and handing out garbage to all the good little girls and boys. {{storylink|Human Error, Part II}}

: Wreck-Gar transforms into a garbage truck with articulated lifting-forks. Pushing a small spring-loaded lever on the back of either of the lifting forks will extend the fork forward. The sliding lever on the top of the truck exposes both of his weapons from slots in the rear. These blade- or scissor-like weapons can attach to his forearms, or combine into a single bladed weapon which can also attach to either of his forearms. (Don't run with them!) His [[Shellformer|transformation]] involves pulling nearly his entire robot mode out from under the truck mode, meaning he wears his vehicle mode like a backpack. However, you don't care because Wreck-Gar is awesome (and it's show-accurate).

:According to the back of his box, he collects things others throw out, watches more TV than even Bumblebee, and believes everything he reads on the internet. How he did these at ''the bottom of a lake'' is unknown.

:Rather annoyingly, a number of Wreck-Gars have a problem with their right shoulders that causes the pin to move out of its position when the shoulder is moved during transformation. It is currently unknown if this would eventually cause the pin to pop out completely.

:He does have a waist joint, but it can only move slightly because of the backpack.
==Notes==
* Originally, the creators wanted [[Eric Idle]] to play Wreck-Gar, as he was the original voice for his [[Wreck-Gar (G1)|Generation 1 namesake]]. As Idle was busy with the production of ''Spamalot'', Weird Al was selected instead.

* Wreck-Gar's head is an old-fashioned portable TV set, complete with channel selection dials, aerial and a handle for transport. As art director/character designer [[Derrick J. Wyatt]] has admitted to being heavily influenced by [[wikipedia:Gainax|Gainax]] shows, this may well be a visual cue to [[wikipedia:FLCL|FLCL]], along with the resemblance to the original Wreck-Gar's head and his "TV talk" persona. Plus, in the music video for Dare To Be Stupid, Weird Al 's head turns into a tv at one point.

* Wreck-Gar's line "I ''dare'' to be stupid!" is something of a double-callout, as the Weird Al song "[[Dare to Be Stupid]]" was featured in the original [[The Transformers: The Movie|''Transformers'' movie]] during the battle against the [[Junkion (species)|Junkions]], and Wreck-Gar himself is voiced by Al.

* Then, of course, there's the accordion in one of the above images. Al himself has been an accordion player since the age of 7.

* ''Transformers Animated'' story editor [[Marty Isenberg]] stated in an interview that the idea of a garbage bin that Wreck-Gar can pull anything out of was inspired by Harpo Marx.<ref>[http://www.cvcomics.com/artandstory/?p=242 CVComics.com's Art & Story 68 audio interview with Marty Isenberg.]</ref>

* Among the things that Wreck-Gar throws at Ratchet and Bumblebee when they meet is a motorcycle resembling the alt mode of the original Wreck-Gar.

* Weird Al stated in a Q&A at BotCon '09 that Wreck-Gar ended up working with Detroit's sanitation committee. Sounds like he's living the American dream!
'''Snarl''' is a ''Triceratops'' [[Dinobot (Animated)|Dinobot]]. Built quite a bit better than a tank, there's nothing he enjoys more than taking the nearest solid object and headbutting it. It's not so much the mindless destruction he likes, it's just that Snarl thoroughly enjoys being strong, and smashing things to powder seems like the best way of expressing this. And if he needs to mix things up a little, being able to [[Fire-breath|breathe fire]] hot enough to melt a garbage truck helps.
Snarl, like the other two [[Dinobot (Animated)|Dinobots]], began life as an animatronic robot at [[Dino Drive]], where he/it was damaged by an over-enthusiastic [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]]. He was upgraded with Cybertronian technology in [[Isaac Sumdac]]'s lab (with the help of [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]]), and further modified by a burst of [[AllSpark (Animated)|AllSpark]] energy. He then spent his time breathing fire and breaking things such as [[Captain Fanzone's car]]. He also swallowed a missile, which is just beyond cool.

He, along with [[Swoop (Animated)|Swoop]], did not [[Transformation|transform]] during the course of his early life. It is possible he didn't know he could do it until [[Grimlock (Animated)|Grimlock]] discovered he could. {{storylink|Blast from the Past}}
He was later forced by the villain [[Prometheus Black|Meltdown]] to guard the research facility Meltdown had commandeered on an island in Lake Erie, and to attack the Autobots [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]] and Bulkhead. Once Meltdown was trapped and unable to hurt him, he demonstrated he'd learned to transform and joined his fellow Dinobots in threatening the acid-thrower. However, before Meltdown could be hurt, Snarl's attention was diverted to [[Colossus Rhodes]] and two of [[Fusion creature|Meltdown's mutants]], and he and the other Dinobots had fun beating up on them instead. {{storylink|Survival of the Fittest}}

Following a sharp increase in Decepticon activity on [[Earth]], [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]], Bulkhead, and Prowl went to [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|Dinobot Island]] to ask the Dinobots to help fight the coming invasion. Grimlock first
ordered the Dinobots to attack, and Snarl started to obey, but Prowl got them all to stop. Grimlock then insisted that the Dinobots could "destroy robots" by themselves, to which Prime retorted that the Dinobots were robots too. Grasping this concept with gusto, Snarl then started fighting Grimlock but was easily tossed aside by his leader. The three Dinobots began to tackle the robot problem... starting with the 'bot in the mirror. The Autobots left them to their task. {{storylink|Megatron Rising - Part 1}}

When investigating Dinobot Island for traces of the Allspark and any Decepticons, Optimus Prime, [[Ultra Magnus (Animated)|Ultra Magnus]] and [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Prime]] were confronted by the Dinobots. After insulting them, Sentinel was floored by Grimlock whilst Snarl looked on, brandishing his club. After Ultra Magnus held aloft his mighty hammer, the Dinobots transformed and backed off into the forest. {{storylink|The Elite Guard|The Elite Guard}} Some time later, [[Grimlock (Animated)|Grimlock]] was rampaging due to a foot injury, and Snarl seemed to be staying out of his way. Whether he was scared or just confused is unknown. {{storylink|A Fistful of Energon}}

After aiding with rescuing [[Blackarachnia (Animated)|Blackarachnia]], Snarl as well as the other Dinobots saw her as an item of worship, doing her every bidding. He assisted in the prison break of [[Meltdown (Animated)|Meltdown]]. However, upon returning with the prize, the only reward he and Swoop got was a scorching stream of stolen [[Fire-breath|special power]]. He didn't seem too put out by this, though, as later he loyally guarded his mistress's [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Autobot]] [[Prowl (Animated)|captives]]. Snarl also helped saved the day by bonking [[Fusion creature|Meltdown's ruffians]] over the head, scaring them off. After Blackarachnia abandoned them, Snarl didn't seem too fussed. {{storylink|Black Friday (episode)|Black Friday}} When an oil rig was teleported out to Lake Erie, Snarl and the other Dinobots watched it explode violently from the shores of Dinobot Island. {{storylink|Three's a Crowd}}

Blackarachnia eventually returned to Dinobot Island, where she took up manipulating the Dinobots again. After kidnapping the rogue Autobot [[Wasp]], she ordered Snarl, Swoop and Grimlock to stand guard while she performed an experiment on her victim. They were soon set upon by Wasp's pursuers; [[Cybertron Elite Guard|Elite Guard]] members Sentinel Prime, [[Jetstorm (Animated)|Jetstorm]] and [[Jetfire (Animated)|Jetfire]]. Before Snarl could react, Jetstorm blew him into a wall with a burst of wind, knocking him unconscious. Just to be safe, Sentinel poked the Dinobot's inert body with his lance, causing it to be covered in a minor rockfall. {{storylink|Predacons Rising}}
[[Image:TFAni Human Error Part2 Beachbum Scrapper.jpg|thumb|left|200px|He's no Friday, but he'll do.]]
Snarl later found the [[Constructicon (Animated)|Constructicon]] [[Scrapper (Animated)|Scrapper]], who had washed up on Dinobot Island following the oil rig explosion. Scrapper decided to make the Dinobot his pet and gave him his name (he was tempted to name him "Slag", but Snarl took it as an insult). Grimlock and Swoop did not take this very well and branded Snarl as a traitor. [[Sari Sumdac]] later found the two and convinced them to help save her Autobot allies from [[Soundwave (Animated)|Soundwave]] and also found some unexpected help from [[Wreck-Gar (Animated)|Wreck-Gar]]. These "[[substitute Autobot]]s" soon found Soundwave and the other Autobots, the latter of whom had been reprogrammed. The battle did not go so well for them, but thanks to some strategic thinking from Sari, they were able to defeat Soundwave and return the Autobots back to normal. Following their victory, Scrapper tried riding Snarl back to Dinobot Island, but the Dinobot responded by kicking him and forcing him to drive. {{storylink|Human Error, Part II}}
Later on, he was infected with a Rage virus that caused him to tear around Dinobot Island and badly injure Grimlock. Unlike promotional stock photos, his club and dinosaur forehead are unpainted, though in the latter case this is actually more accurate to the animation model. The promotional photos also showed his front horn assembled upside down, but it's turned the right way around on the final toy. While there are pegs intended to keep his waist together, they do not click, and so the legs are quite loose. The toy features orange [[light-piping]] engineered into the head, but the gimmick is disabled by the eyes being painted blue.

==Notes==
* Snarl was obviously designed to be the ''Animated'' incarnation of the [[Generation 1]] [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobot]] named [[Slag (G1)|Slag]], and preproduction shots even bore that name. Hasbro [http://tarr.uspto.gov/servlet/tarr?regser=serial&entry=76674442 holds the United States trademark for "Slag" unopposed, and renewed it as recently as Xmas 2007]. As revealed by Hasbro representatives at [[BotCon 2008]], they are not using "Slag" as a product name because it is a [[wikipedia:Slag_(slang)|negative slang]] term in the United Kingdom (meaning, roughly, "slut") which might have affected toy sales. Let's hope they don't do another [[Slapper (RID)|Slapper]].

* Snarl and [[Swoop (Animated)|Swoop]] did not have any lines in the cartoon. Reportedly, this is due to limitations on the number of voice actors that can be used in an episode, and the number of characters they can voice in one as well. [[Derrick J. Wyatt]] remarked at [[BotCon 2008]] that his ideal voice for Snarl would be [[wikipedia:Louie Anderson|comedian Louie Anderson]]. Their lack of dialogue would be used for a gag in [[Transformers Comic issue 23|comic story ''Divebomb'']]. Both Dinobots speak in the Japanese dub, but thus far have only managed their names.

* In the cartoon, Scrapper gave Snarl his name rather late in the series. In the Titan comic, others were calling him by name well before that event.

[[Image:Constructobots smoking.jpg|right|180px|thumb|I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your circuits down]]
Showing up at the auto factory, Scrapper joined Mixmaster in revealing that they were indeed working for Megatron, since Megatron had better oil. Showing there were no hard feelings, they said they weren't about to hurt the Autobots, just come pick up the AllSpark fragments and be on their way. Optimus Prime objected, but Mixmaster called him a dipstick and knocked over the 98-ton-weakling. A fight broke out, and Scrapper tackled Prowl—without much success. Scrapper picked himself up while Mixmaster ransomed [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] for the fragments. However, once Bulkhead handed over the fragments, Scrapper had no trouble accepting Bulky's offer to have "one for the road." Of course, he didn't know Bulkhead had secretly slipped him and Mixmaster some tainted oil, contaminated by the expired fixative that Bulkhead had saved. As Scrapper and Mixmaster ran off, Mix began feeling a little queasy. Scrapper teased him about not being able to hold his oil, until he started feeling the effects too. The bad oil reacted explosively, knocking out him and Mixmaster so the Autobots could reclaim the fragments. The blast also scrambled their memories, so when Scrapper came to, he didn't know who the big, angry guy was or why he was ranting about someone named Megatron and flinging his wrecking ball at them. Confused and frightened, Scrapper decided to vamoose. {{storylink|Rise of the Constructicons}}

Continuing their search, they went into Sari's room and destroyed her handheld communicator, cutting her off from the Autobots. Not finding Sari, who was hiding in her bed, they continued to the Autobots' recreational area, as Scrapper admired the Autobots' large flat screen. Sari came bursting in to attack them with a hockey stick, but her plan sadly did not have a Plan B, and escaped. Mix replied she should come out, they wouldn't hurt her....much. They continued their search and found a stockpile of oil, guarded by Sari. Scrapper knew it was a trap, but was goaded by Mixmaster into getting the oil, and tripping on some oil. Scrap continued to not anger the human, but obviously Mix did not listen, and got pounded by the factory assembly line. After the beating, Mixmaster finally said NO oil could be worth this, much to Scrapper's chagrin, who had declared this all along. On the run from the Autobots once more, Scrap and Mix were intercepted by Blitzwing, who was sent by Megatron to bring them back. After giving them a barrel of the Decepticon premium oil, Blitzwing said there was plenty more where that came from. Remembering this from their prior visit with the Decepts, they then left, with Blitzwing.... {{storylink|Sari, No One's Home}}

With Megatron supervising, Scrapper and his buddy Mix later helped the Decepticons finish their space bridge. Their reward was a painful [[branding]] as part of officially becoming Decepticons themselves. When Bulkhead was captured and brought to Megatron, he begged the Constructicons for help, but thanks to the tainted oil having blanked their memories, neither Scrapper nor Mixmaster recognized him. Scrapper later suffered having to haul around some heavy spage bridge parts with Mixmaster while Bulkhead and Professor Sumdac argued over where the parts should go. He soon got sick of it and joined his buddy in an oil break. Before he could relish the moment, [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]] and [[Starscream clone (Animated)|a bunch of off-colored lookalikes]] broke into the base from above. {{storylink|A Bridge Too Close, Part I}}

Megatron ordered Scrapper to provide him backup against Starscream's clones, apparently surprising him enough that he loosened his grip and lost his prisoners. Though Mixmaster had been ordered to find Blitzwing and Lugnut, he got busy plastering Starscreams and Autobots with his cement, so Scrapper found and freed the two Decepticons instead. He later cheered on Megatron's victory (despite having no idea what this "Cybertron" thing was anyway). The Autobot ship itself then arrived to attack, and Scrapper was ordered to help Mixmaster clear rubble from around the space bridge. Things really started to fall apart when the Space Bridge malfunctioned. Scrapper was last seen with Mix, heroically trying to save the oil from a cave-in. {{storylink|A Bridge Too Close, Part II}}

However, Dirt Boss had no interest in building space bridges, as he had a grand plan to take over Detroit by hijacking energy resources—a plan Scrapper and Mixmaster agreed on when they realized that oil was a prime energy resource. After the Constructicons spent the night stealing huge amounts of oil, Dirt Boss revealed the next step of his plan: destroying the [[Fossil Fuel]] oil refinery plant, forcing the city to come to ''him'' for their oil needs. While Bulkhead alone failed to stop them, they were soon confronted by the other Autobots. After a one-on-one with Bumblebee, Scrapper accidentally got his drill arm stuck in Mixmaster's mixing drum, causing a few sparks that set fire to the facility. Unable to stop the flames from reaching a giant oil tank that the Constructicons had climbed up on, the Autobots attached a [[plasmadynamic thruster]] to the whole thing, causing it to [[transwarp]] out into [[Lake Erie]] and explode, with Scrapper, Mixmaster and Dirt Boss still on it. {{storylink|Three's a Crowd}}

After the Autobots were freed and Soundwave got his skidplate handed to him by Optimus Prime, Scrapper decided heroics was too much work for him (and no overtime), so he decided to take a long vacation. He tried to ride Snarl back to Dinobot Island, but the big lug kicked him off and forced him to drive back. {{storylink|Human Error, Part II}}
==Notes==
