At the peak of the Matterhorn, [[Ginrai]] and the fused [[Scorponok (G1)|BlackZarak]]/[[Devil Z]] entity prepare to face off against each other in their final battle. BlackZarak inquires if the [[Autobot]] leader plans to fight him alone, and Ginrai responds with a barrage of laser fire, which BlackZarak shrugs off. The villain transforms to scorpion mode and takes to the air, but Ginrai pursues him and seizes him by the tail. BlackZarak roars that he does not have time to waste on Ginrai, freely divulging his plan—he has placed an amplifier for his Devil Power at the South Pole, which will allow him to eliminate Humanity in the blink of an eye. The furious Ginrai attempts to drag BlackZarak back down to the mountain's peak, and he calls out for [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]] and the [[Darkwings]] brothers to aid him. Help is not forthcoming, but Ginrai still manages to rip off BlackZarak's cannons and tricks the villain into blasting himself with his own tail weapon. Damaged, BlackZarak begins to lose altitude, and Ginrai uses his own jets to steer the [[Decepticon]] into the mountainside. At the last second, however, BlackZarak throws off Ginrai and collapses part of the mountain, burying Ginrai in an avalanche.

Elsewhere on the mountain, the other Autobots and Decepticons are recovering from their injuries. While [[Minerva]] tends to the wounds [[Metalhawk]] received during his battle with [[King Poseidon]] in one location, in another spot, [[Hydra (Masterforce)|Hydra]] and [[Buster (Masterforce)|Buster]] finally recover consciousness after the beating administered to them by BlackZarak. While Buster is still trying to wrap his mind around what happened, Hydra simply writes it off as punishment for weakness and proof that they must fight even harder. The chance for such a fight immediately arrives in the form of the Autobot [[Godmaster|Godmasters]], and even though the two weakened Decepticons practically collapse after only a few shots are exchanged, they continue to draw out the fight.

Some miles away, [[Clouder]] has supplied [[Cancer]], [[Wilder]] and [[Bullhorn]] with a heavily armed buggy so that they can participate in the battle on the Matterhorn. As the quartet head towards the Alps, Wilder chooses to remind everyone that he has definitely not joined the Autobots, but the protest has grown so stale that Cancer laughs it off, much to Wilder's annoyance.

Back on the Matterhorn, BlackZarak is in mid-gloat when Ginrai comes bursting out of the ice and snow and stomps his opponent into the rock face. BlackZarak transforms back into robot mode and unleashes the "Devil Thunder Ring," encircling Ginrai with Devil Power with the intent of removing his humanity and transforming him into a true robot, just as he did with Hydra and Buster. As Ginrai fights the effect, [[Grand Maximus]] comes flying around the mountain. Having been unable to communicate with Ginrai, Grand and the [[Headmaster Junior|Headmaster Juniors]] have come to help. And help they do—a blast from the Maximus's cannon throws off BlackZarak's focus long enough for Ginrai to escape his Devil Power and take the fight up close. With a mighty swing and a flare of incandescent energy, Ginrai punches BlackZarak's head clean off his shoulders, and the decapitated Decepticon crashes into the mountain. [[Shūta Gō|Shūta]] cheers for his commander as BlackZarak's severed head lands alongside his body and explodes, but Grand silences him... because something is happening! BlackZarak's twitching, headless body rises up out of its crater, and as the shocked Autobots watch, it begins to transform into a new form!

At the base of the mountain, [[Mega]] and [[Giga]] stand by their [[Transtector|Transtectors]] and debate on what to do next. Realizing that they have been misled by [[Devil Z]], who has placed his hatred of human beings above even their comradeship, they know they can no longer serve him...and they now also owe Ginrai a debt of honor for saving them from Z's wrath. They are not the only Decepticons to reach a decision at this point, either—Hydra and Buster have reached the end of their strength and combine into Darkwings to flee their battle with the Autobot Godmasters.

Meanwhile, far above, BlackZarak's new form now stands revealed: a twisted, two-headed serpent, which launches energy blasts at God Ginrai from its mouths and swats him out of the sky with its tail. As the battle rages, Overlord appears overhead, and BlackZarak offers him a chance to redeem himself, but the Ambassador of Destruction opens fire on BlackZarak instead. Infuriated, BlackZarak vows to show Overlord what happens to traitors and envelops him in a beam of Devil Power. Crying in pain, Overlord's last act is to tell Ginrai to ensure that BlackZarak does not live, before Giga and Mega are suddenly ejected from the sphere of Devil Power. Shocked at what they are seeing, Ginrai and Grand Maximus are distracted enough to be blasted out of the sky by BlackZarak, just as the cocoon of Devil Power recedes and the Overlord Transtector emerges...now a truly living super-robot lifeform itself, brought to life by the power of Devil Z! Giga murmurs that he wishes they could have settled their rivalry with Ginrai honourably, and with that, he and Mega die and their [[Master-Brace|Master-Braces]] vanish from their wrists. Burning with righteous anger and [[Chōkon Power]], Ginrai rises, and Shūta, [[Cab]] and Minerva all feel the energy of their commander. In a flash of light, the three children find themselves in God Ginrai's chest cockpit, ready to fight alongside their leader as the defining moment of the battle draws nearer. Overlord lunges for Ginrai, but Grand Maximus transforms to robot mode and tackles him. BlackZarak orders Wilder, Cancer and Bullhorn's now-living [[Transtector|Transtectors]] to attack Ginrai instead, but the Godmasters arrive just in time to handle them, leaving Ginrai to face off against BlackZarak. God Fire Guts and Devil Power collide in a mighty explosion, hurling Ginrai back and leaving Devil Z simply laughing from within BlackZarak's body. He announces to Ginrai that the Autobot's very existence—the existence of all the Godmasters—is as a result of his machinations, and to him, they are nothing more than tools that will never be able to defeat their maker. Ginrai refutes this, declaring that Devil Z has long underestimated the strength of humans and the limitless possibilities that exist within Mankind, and that is why he shall never defeat them. Exploding into flame once more, Ginrai activates the God Fire Guts and dives at BlackZarak, driving hard against a beam of Devil Power. Fighting with all his strength, Ginrai overpowers the beam and crashes into and through BlackZarak, whose body finally explodes into fragments, exposing the glowing orb of Devil Z. As the villain rages impotently, Ginrai and the Headmaster Juniors unite every drop of their Chōkon Power for one last, mighty attack: the FINAL FIRE GUTS! Burning with the passion and strength of his fellow humans and Autobots, Ginrai dives like a flaming spear into the heart of Devil Z, who screams and explodes in a coruscating wave of light and darkness.

As the blast dies out, the skies clear and Ginrai fades back into view, and the Decepticons battling below stop and gape, unable to comprehend what has occurred. Overlord is the first to take action...and that action is retreat. With their leader lost, the Decepticons immediately take to the air and head for space. Ginrai comes floating down out of the sky and lands in front his troops, but the surprises are not yet through, as all of the Godmasters and Headmaster Juniors suddenly glow with blinding light. When the light fades, seven ordinary human beings are left standing on the snowy ground, and Minerva is the first to realize that their Master-Braces have vanished. It is [[Road King]] who then makes the next discovery: A short distance away, their Transtectors are standing in robot mode! Ginrai's Transtector looks down at the humans assembled before it, and thanks them for all they have done. It is then that Ginrai realizes what has happened—with Devil Z's death, the link that he created between the humans and their Transtectors has been broken. But now, their Transtectors live on, having become true super-robot lifeforms themselves, and it is their duty to pursue the fleeing Decepticons back into space. As goodbyes are said, Cancer and company roll up the mountain in their buggy, all weapons firing, just a little bit too late to do any good. As everyone watches and waves, the Godmasters and Headmaster Juniors board Grand Maximus and blast off for space. As the narrator says, Ginrai's long battle with the Decepticons is over at last, but throughout it all, he has been supported by his friends, his fellow humans, and the beauty and peace of planet Earth.

The Doubleclouder Transtector is still missing, however, and is not seen among the Decepticons flying into space at the episode's close.
*This episode explains that Devil Z was responsible for forging the link between the Godmasters and their Transtectors. This makes sense; the Godmasters' Transtectors were not originally intended to be bonded with humans, so it had to be someone else's doing, and the fact that the death of Devil Z in this episode causes this link to be severed makes it clear that he's not lying about it. However, Shūta, Minerva and Cab are ''also'' separated from their Transtectors, and this ''doesn't'' make sense, because Devil Z had no hand in their combination.
*Grand Maximus carries the Godmasters and Headmaster Juniors into space at the end of this episode, which is inconsistent with how he has been presented in the rest of the series. In comparison to those other two characters, though, this mode was streamlined to a greater degree for animation (such as completely omitting the scorpion legs), so the actual toy doesn't look nearly as good if transformed to match it.

The homeworld of the [[Micromaster|Micromasters]], planet [[Micro]], has come under attack from [[Decepticon|Decepticons]]. Despite the fact that the planet is in the sector protected by his arm of the Galactic Defense Force, [[Ginrai|God Ginrai]] and his forces are occupied battling [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]]'s army in [[G Nebula 89]], necessitating the assistance of [[Star Saber (Victory)|Star Saber]], who quickly heads for Micro. Accompanying him aboard [[Galaxy Shuttle]] are the [[Rescue Patrol Team|Rescue Team]], who are thrilled to be returning home, and [[Jean Minakaze|Jean]], who nearly chokes on a soda when the Rescues inform him that the reason [[Holi]] is being so serious is because he's worried about his girlfriend down on Micro. As Star Saber and Galaxy Shuttle enter the planet's atmosphere, their arrival is observed by a mysterious figure…

Star Saber, the Rescue Team and Jean meet with Governor [[Riker]], who informs them that there have been no further reports of Decepticon attacks. After checking in with God Ginrai via video communication, Star Saber decides to give the Rescue Team a little "shore leave" while he investigates on his own. After Holi's girlfriend, [[Clipper]], fails to show up at the planned meeting place, he and the others go searching for her, and spot her coming up an escalator, just as they're travelling down the adjacent one. She tells Holi that he should have called first, and practically ignores him as she carries on with her work, much to the amusement of Jean and the other Rescues.

Meanwhile, Star Saber is shown around the attacked areas by Riker, and is surprised to discover that the areas were completely levelled, even after energy was successfully stolen. He realizes that this is not traditional Decepticon behaviour, and deduces that mercenaries must be involved. He soon rejoins Jean and the Rescue Team for tea with Clipper (who's quite impressed with the dashing [[Supreme Commander]]), but they are interrupted by an alarm which alerts them to a three-man Decepticon attack on the plasma energy plant that provides Micro with a third of its energy. Holi gets particularly fired up for battle when Clipper wishes him good luck, but the Micromasters don't manage to get more than a few feet through the exit before their way is barred by the mysterious figure who observed their arrival on the planet. This towering, samurai-like warrior introduces himself as [[Greatshot]], reveals that he is an old acquaintance of Star Saber, and informs the Autobots that they do not need to involve themselves in the battle, as it is his responsibility. At Star Saber's inquiry, Greatshot explains that he has fought with two of the attackers – mercenaries named [[Blue Bacchus]] and [[Black Shadow]] – before, and has been trying to track them down to settle an old score. Star Saber offers to help, and confronts the third attacker while Greatshot deals with the mercenaries and Jean and the Micromasters handle rescue operations with the [[V-Star]].

The third villain turns out to be [[Hellbat]], who has hired the mercenaries to help him raise his standing in the Decepticon ranks, but finds that he has to triple their cut of the stolen energy in order to convince them to take on Star Saber. Before the two mercs can step in, Greatshot attacks them, and it is revealed that he is seeking revenge for a past betrayal from when he used to work with them. The two battles rage simultaneously, with Star Saber reflecting Hellbat's hypnotism waves back at him, and Greatshot deceiving his old allies with his "Disappearing Dust" trick, appearing to self-destruct and then appearing behind them. Realizing that he has no chance against Star Saber, Hellbat opens fire on the energy plant, causing a chain reaction that threatens to reduce a third of the planet to ashes. Hellbat calls to the mercenaries to pull out, but they don't manage to get away without being badly injured by Greatshot. As the trio takes to the sky, a parting shot from Greatshot hits the energy containers Hellbat is carrying, and they explode in his grip, robbing him of the plasma energy he had gathered (although the mercenaries are still quite insistent that Hellbat will be paying them somehow).

As fire begins to consume the energy plant, Jean returns with the V-Star just in time. Star Saber reconnects with the V-Star and transforms into his super robot mode, and, knowing that it's too late to stop the plant from exploding, has to think quickly. Swinging his Saber Blade, he severs the base of the energy plant, separating it from the planet, and seizes it in his mighty grip, flying it out of the planet's atmosphere. As everyone watches, the plasma energy explodes in a white fireball, and everyone holds their breath... until Star Saber reappears in the sky above, unharmed. Star Saber and Greatshot shake hands, but Holi is surprised when Greatshot departs, thinking that he would make a good addition to the Autobot forces. Star Saber explains that Greatshot doesn't like being tied down by formalities, but Holi's attention is a bit more caught up in Clipper, who wants to know when he's coming back to Micro. Holi says he isn't sure, but asks if it even matters, since he knows she'll just say she's busy. Clipper says that next time, she wants Holi to tell her everything about his adventures and about the Earth, and Holi blushes... but of course, the little guy can't win either way, since Jean just keeps on teasing him.

A Nagano native, Ginrai found the atmosphere of his home country unbearably stifling, and left for the [[United States of America|United States]] at the young age of seventeen to "find himself." The very definition of a free spirit and a lone wolf, he took a job as a long-haul truck driver for [[Union Transportation]] which offered him the freedom and solitude of the open road. Despite his desire for isolation and self-exploration, however, he is hugely popular amongst his "brothers" in the trucker fraternity, as his easygoing personality allows him to get along with people like a house on fire.

Ginrai's life was turned upside down when he discovered that he was an [[Autobot]] [[Godmaster]] and became bonded to a [[Transtector]] from the [[G Nebula 89|G Nebula]]. Now wearing the visage of the legendary Autobot commander [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], Ginrai has found his entire worldview changed by the evil of the [[Decepticon|Decepticons]], a force he painfully realizes is too great for him to overlook. It would not, Ginrai figures, be a good thing for the Decepticons to rule the world. After all, he lives there.

Ginrai's signature attack technique is the "Atomic Fire Guts", which sees him condense his [[Chōkon Power]] into his gun and release it as a blast of roiling flame. The events that would bring Ginrai into contact with the Transformers began an indeterminate number of years ago, when the super-energy alien being and self-styled "Decepticon god" [[Devil Z]] stole several [[Transtector|Transtectors]], including one intended to be used by the legendary Autobot leader [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], from an area of space known as the [[G Nebula]]. Already filled with the [[Chōkon Power|Tenchōkon]] of the nebula, the Transtectors were then scattered across the Earth by Devil Z, that they might absorb the planet's [[Chōkon Power|Chichōkon]]. Devil Z planned to have human beings bond to the Transtectors, adding their inherent [[Chōkon Power|Jinchōkon]] to the equation, thereby creating a new super-robotic lifeform: [[Godmaster|Godmasters]]. {{storylink|Shūta and Grand's Masterforce Super-Secrets!}}

Through undivulged circumstances, the Transtector intended for Prime assumed the form of a red tractor trailer cab and came to rest in a small garage in California. The unwitting [[Garage owner (Masterforce)|garage owner]] rented the cab to several truckers, but always found it returned early with complaints of unusual, even supernatural, incidents.

Two years after coming to America, Ginrai happened to be transporting an ill dolphin from [[Baney Aquarium]] to the [[Ocean Research Institute of California]], which was run, unbeknownst to him, by the Autobot [[Pretender]] [[Diver (Masterforce)|Diver]]. Destiny stepped in when Ginrai's truck broke down on the way, and he pulled in at this very garage, where the owner rented him the Transtector to complete his delivery. In the glove box of the cab, he discovered a pair of [[Master-Brace|Master-Braces]] and slipped them on his wrists, only to discover that he was unable to remove them. When Diver laid eyes upon the bracelets, he recognized the basic design of them and insisted that Ginrai take him back to the garage where he had found the truck. On the way, however, they were attacked by the Decepticon Godmaster brothers [[Hydra (Masterforce)|Hydra]] and [[Buster (Masterforce)|Buster]], who forced the truck off a cliff. Accidentally touching the bracelets as he attempted to escape the crushed cab, Ginrai was infused with the Masterforce, and a suit of armor materialized around him, healing both himself and the Transtector as they combined and transformed. Ginrai was at first unsure of what to make of his new powers and was not entirely keen on joining the Autobots, as the notion of operating as part of a command structure and being tied down to a specific place ran directly counter to his desire for freedom in his life. Although he promised to aid them when necessary "for the sake of the world"—a mantra for which he admitted he had a weakness—he soon bore witness to the true evil of the Decepticons when Hydra and Buster killed several of his fellow truckers while searching for him. In spite of this, Ginrai was still not entirely willing to join the Autobots, but fate would continue to pushing him into doing so. {{storylink|Ginrai: God On of Rage!!}}

Ginrai soon suffered a prophetic dream, after which he discovered three more pairs of Master-Braces in his Transtector, indicating the presence of more Godmasters on Earth. When Ginrai brought the bracelets to Japan for study at the [[Autobot Base (Masterforce)|Autobot base]], {{storylink|A Strange Friendship: Cancer and Minerva}} events began to escalate as his Transtector activated on its own, transporting Ginrai to his birthplace of Nagano, or more specifically, a construction site at the base of Mount Yatsugatake there. Blasting for a tunnel through the mountain had been blocked by a mysterious object, which proved to be a trailer for Ginrai's truck, which burst from the tunnel during another battle with Buster and Hydra. {{storylink|Friend or Foe!? Upon returning to Earth, Ginrai was lured into a trap in the Middle East by Overlord, during which Godbomber revealed a hidden power by transforming into a robot mode. {{storylink|Overlord - Terror of the Chōkon Tornado}} Godbomber's robot mode also helped save the day when Ginrai and Lightfoot were entombed in a cave when attempting to stop the eruption of an underwater volcano, {{storylink|Escape!! The Underwater Volcano Erupts}} leading the Decepticons to target him for destruction. Luring Ginrai to the heartland of America, the villains ambushed and badly wounded the Autobot leader, leaving him unable to use his Chōkon Power to animate Godbomber. When it seemed as though the Autobots had finally been joined by the final Godmaster, a young man named [[Clouder]], Ginrai welcomed him into their ranks with open arms. Metalhawk, however, proved to be less trusting, and soon exposed Clouder as a Decepticon spy. Unfortunately, this was not enough to stop the plan the Decepticons had put in motion; while Ginrai and the Godmasters were occupied battling Buster and Hydra in a nearby city, the Autobot base was crippled by Clouder's sabotage and attacked by the rest of the Decepticons en masse. {{storylink|Secret Orders! After failing to contact Grand Maximus, Ginrai headed out into space to search for him and found him trapped inside a powerful [[black hole]]. Ginrai too fell victim to the singularity's pull, but he and Grand Maximus were able to combine their energies to destroy it from within and escape. The black hole had, in fact, been created by BlackZarak, who had been able to travel to Earth and join the Decepticons there during Ginrai's imprisonment. {{storylink|BlackZarak - Destroyer from Space}} With BlackZarak now bolstering their forces, the Decepticons' campaign grew ever more aggressive, with Ginrai only just managed to save the planet from the villains' unholy [[Death Para-Machine]]. {{storylink|Crisis! The True Form of Devil Z}} As their battle raged down the mountain, Ginrai succeeded in decapitating the villain, but BlackZarak simply assumed a new, serpentine alternate mode and kept on fighting. The Headmaster Juniors boarded Ginrai's chest cockpit and joined their energies with him, allowing him to destroy BlackZarak's body with his God Fire Guts attack, exposing Devil Z. As the alien raged impotently, Ginrai and the Juniors united every last drop of their Chōkon Powe into the almighty Final Fire Guts attack, which destroyed Devil Z once and for all.

With Devil Z's death, the bond he had forged between Transtector and human ceased to exist, and Ginrai and the other humans were separated from their Transtectors. The Transtectors, however, had been evolved through their partnership with the humans and continued to exist as true super-robot life forms. In the aftermath of the battle, Metalhawk commented on Ginrai's similarity to Optimus Prime and wondered if he could be his reincarnation.
