'''Sunstreaker''' knows to his core of his [[spark]] that he is better than any other Autobot, and he makes sure everyone else knows it, too. His sociopathic tendencies, combined with his incredible vanity and arrogance, usually result in tension between himself and the other Autobots. He is generally unwilling to help those who are having trouble keeping up, and is quite audible when it comes to complaining about the shortcomings of everyone else. The only Autobot he truly gets along with is his twin brother, [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]], and even that can seem strained at times.

The main reason [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] keeps him around is most likely Sunstreaker's effectiveness in the battlefield. Ruthless and skilled in all forms of combat, there is not much Sunstreaker cannot handle. As a front-line warrior, Sunstreaker is a great asset for the [[Autobot]] army. If a rather scary one.

''Prior to the outbreak of Cybertron's planet-wide civil war, Sunstreaker was a gladiator in the [[State Games]].

Sunstreaker was among the crew of the [[Ark]] that crashed 4 million years ago and woke up in 1984.

''In the first few days on Earth, Sunstreaker diverted an attack by [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]] and [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]] towards a human civilization so as to keep himself from harm.

When [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]] took control over the Decepticons and possession of the Ark, he destroyed Sunstreaker's body as a demonstration and warning to the deposed [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]. Because of this, Sunstreaker's body was in disrepair for a very long time. (This appears to have occurred in a panel on page 9 of [[The New Order|US issue #5]], but the coloring is completely wrong for Sunstreaker. However, given Sunstreaker's absence in the scene on page 4 of [[DIS-Integrated Circuits|US issue #9]], which is meant to include all the Autobots, and Yomtov's penchant for completely messing up the colors, it seems reasonable that Sunstreaker is the Autobot Shockwave destroyed.)

Sunstreaker was fully repaired in time to view the duel between [[Blaster]] and [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] on the moon. The massive battle with the Decepticons which ensued apparently left him badly damaged once more, as he wound up in stasis aboard the Ark again, to be revived by [[Nucleon]] in 1990, when he and the other newly revived Autobots joined the attack on [[Unicron]].

Sunstreaker was part of the original crew of Autobots aboard the [[Ark]] that crashlanded on Earth four million years ago. When reawakened in 1984, he and his brother Sidesewipe were reformatted into Lamborghini sports cars.

Sideswipe and Sunstreaker often operated together. When antimatter-fueled Decepticons attacked the Ark on one occasion, Sideswipe and Sunstreaker took to the air to battle with the incoming seeker jets, in a rambunctious -- if ultimately ineffective -- display of "jet judo."

Sunstreaker was one of several Autobots who glommed onto [[Hoist_(G1)|Hoist]]'s job as a Hollywood extra in the hopes of becoming a movie star. This mainly resulted in him wearing a ridiculous alien mask and spouting out stilted, wooden dialogue.

Before the Decepticon attack on [[Autobot City]], Sunstreaker was helping [[Kup]] move a roadblock. He was knocked over when [[Hot Rod]] and [[Daniel Witwicky]] drove through it.

Meanwhile, he was also on Moon Base One and helped pilot the shuttle that flew [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]] to Autobot City.

He is among the Autobots who are apparently destoryed when the Decepticons under Galvatron attack Autobot City, or he is almost as good at stealth as Snarl.

After the [[Pax Cybertronia]], Sunstreaker left Cybertron with five other survivors of the Great War ([[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]], [[Roulette]], [[Shadow Striker]], and [[Trailbreaker]]). One year after Cybertron was reformatted into a technorganic planet, they returned. They were greeted by many of the Maximal and Predacon inhabitants and with vast media coverage.

However, what appeared to be celebratory fireworks struck the five Autobots and also the Maximals [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt]] and [[Blackarachnia]]. They were transported to a fiery cauldron deep within [[Unicron]], where all but Trailbreaker were rebuilt painfully into new bodies.

Seeing an arena up ahead, the seven moved towards it, only to be attacked by a swarm of shape-shifting lava-like creatures. Sunstreaker and the others were overwhelmed and taken into the arena (or, the [[Cauldron]]), where they were caged along with a multitude of Transformers kidnapped from across the multiverse.

The Unicron-influenced ambiance of the place was slowly driving the more violent of the group mad. This, of course, included Sunstreaker. He and Sideswipe were forced into combat in the arena(each wielding spiffy [[Energon]] weapons), but were rescued by a reborn [[Optimus Primal]]. The group, sans a corrupted Blackarachnia and Shadow Striker, fled back to Cybertron.

Sunstreaker is a member of the Cybertron (Autobot) Race Team, which may or may not have any other Transformers on it. He's sort of a mascot for them, and the team doesn't actually use him in races. He resents that people pay more attention to him as a promotional image than as a racecar.

Sunstreaker is partnered with - for unknown reasons - the human "race queen" model [[Junko Shiragami]], and acts as her car. Once, Sunstreaker got in a race with a human-driven sports car, much to Junko's dismay. He used his transformation ability to take a particularly sharp curve, destroying a road sign in the process, for which Junko chewed him out.

It is said that Sunstreaker drives faster when he smells Junko's marigold-scented hair.

===Dreamwave comics continuity===
When [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] arrived on Earth to enforce [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]'s edict that the Earth-bound Autobots surrender themselves to the Cybertronian alliance, Optimus Prime ordered a portion of his troops into hiding in [[Portland|Portland, Oregon]]. This group, led by [[Jazz]], included Sunstreaker, [[Sideswipe (G1)|Sideswipe]], [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]], [[Brawn]], [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]], and [[Windcharger (G1)|Windcharger]]. However, [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]], and his cassettes soon escaped to Earth with [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]]. Attacking the Ark, they destroyed all of Jazz's group minus Ratchet and Brawn. Sunstreaker and the others were left in a swamp, deactivated.

A ship crewed by [[Mini Vehicle|Minibots]] (led by [[Bumblebee]]) arrived on Earth with supplies, and Warpath and Bumper pulled the deactivated from their would-be swampy grave. They were promptly arrested by Commander [[Marissa Faireborn]] of the [[Earth Defense Command]] and her armored troops. The damaged were repaired.

Commander Faireborn came to Sunstreaker, Sideswipe, and Jazz with a mission. The American city of [[San Desto]] was under attack by Cybertronian creatures.

Sunstreaker was one of many Autobots trained by [[Kup]] and is part of a detachment of Autobots that has operated covertly on Earth for at least four years, attempting to foil a Decepticon insurgency. His attitude is about as superior as his original incarnation, dismissing the three humans Ratchet saves as "noisy creatures".

Sunstreaker, along with Ironhide was assigned the task of escorting the noisy creatures back to the big wild world, Tulsa, Oklahoma. On a road in the vicinity of Lebanon, Missouri, Sunstreaker and company were ambushed by the [[Machination]]. He and his passenger [[Hunter O'Nion]] became seperated from [[Ironhide]] and seemingly destroyed. It was soon revealed that it was not the case, the debris recovered by Optimus Prime was revealed by [[Ratchet]] to be an elaborate fake.

Sadly, Ultra Magnus is the only Autobot who doesn't realize this.

Believing he is nothing but a soldier, Ultra Magnus is perfectly willing to sacrifice himself for the greater good if need be. By 2005, Ultra Magnus was the full-fledged City Commander for [[Autobot City]]. Autobot City was under his authority when Megatron and the Decepticons waged their full-scale attack. Ultra Magnus ordered [[Springer (G1)|Springer]] and [[Arcee (G1)|Arcee]] to transform it to battle-mode, but it only held the Decepticons off for so long. In the fight, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] was mortally wounded and passed the [[Matrix]] of Leadership on to Ultra Magnus, making Magnus the new Supreme Commander of the Autobots.

Autobot City was quickly attacked a second time by [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], the upgraded version of [[Megatron (G1)| Megatron]]. Ultra Magnus lured him away on his shuttle, but was eventually shot-down onto the [[Junkion (planet)|Planet of Junk]]. Galvatron tracked him there and Ultra Magnus managed to draw him away from the other Autobots to face the enemy alone. Magnus attempted to open the Matrix, but the Matrix would not open, and Ultra Magnus was blown to pieces. Galvatron took the Matrix, intending to use it to destroy [[Unicron]].

After the Autobots befriended the [[Junkion]]s, they used their expertise to rebuild Ultra Magnus. Magnus joined the other Autobots in the battle with Unicron on [[Cybertron]] and helped drive the last of the Decepticons from their home planet. {{Storylink|The Transformers: The Movie (1986)}}

In 2006 (or 2010, if you're Japanese), Ultra Magnus ceased his role as a City Commander and became head-adviser to [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]], the new Supreme Commander of the Autobots and chosen one of the Matrix. At various times he was [[The Killing Jar|sucked into a black hole]], [[Only Human|turned into a synthetic human]] and [[Surprise Party|had a birthday party]].

When the [[Hate Plague]] possessed all of Earth and Cybertron, Ultra Magnus singled Rodimus Prime out of all the other Autobots and focused all his rage on him, vowing to track him wherever he went. Ultra Magnus was eventually cured of the Hate Plague when Optimus Prime came back from the dead (again). {{Storylink|The Return of Optimus Prime}}

Some time later, Ultra Magnus helped defend Autobot City from a massive Decepticon assault, which was actually a diversion for the theft of the key to the [[Plasma Energy Chamber]]. Subsequent to the battle and discovery of the theft, Magnus accompanied Optimus Prime on a shuttle to Cybertron. After Prime got the answers he needed from [[Vector Sigma]], he decided to go to [[Nebulos]] and left Ultra Magnus in charge of Cybertron. {{Storylink|The Rebirth, Part 1}}

Ultra Magnus' tenure didn't go very well, as the selfsame massive Decepticon assault force was attacking the planet. Nonetheless, he and the [[Protectobot]]s struck at Galvatron, and may well have done him in if [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]]'s reinforcements hadn't arrived. Magnus then ignominiously had his [[power pack]] torn out and slowly began to die from lack of energon. Still, he was able to relay Galvatron's crazed scheme to Optimus Prime and the Autobot [[Headmaster]]s before blacking out.

When Ultra Magnus next awoke, the Golden Age of Cybertron had come anew, and the Decepticons were seemingly defeated once and for all. {{Storylink|The Rebirth, Part 3}}

Ultra Magnus first came to Earth around the year 1986 to head-up the [[Scramble City]] (AKA [[Autobot City]]) project. Under his supervision, [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]] was built. Unfortunately, Metroplex was discovered by the spy [[Ratbat]] under Ultra Magnus' watch, who leaked the location back to Megatron.

Ultra Magnus continued his work as Commander of Autobot City on Earth and was instrumental in several victories over the Decepticons. Because of this, [[Sixshot (G1)|Sixshot]] singled him out for assasination. Ultra Magnus and Sixshot engaged in a one-on-one duel outside Autobot City, and Ultra Magnus was completely wrecked by Sixshot's six transformations. He was finally done in by Sixshot's mysterious 7th transformation, "Wingwolf". After his death, Ultra Magnus was placed in a coffin and buried on Earth, the planet he loved so dearly.

That's when Magnus' body hurled his head at Galvatron like a bowling ball, causing the [[Emperor of Destruction]] to fall over like a set of pins and drop the Blackball. By 2005, Ultra Magnus was the full-fledged City Commander for [[Autobot City]]. Autobot City was under his authority when Megatron and the Decepticons waged their full-scale attack. Ultra Magnus ordered [[Springer (G1)|Springer]] and [[Arcee (G1)|Arcee]] to transform it to battle-mode, but it only held the Decepticons off for so long. In the fight, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] was mortally wounded and passed the [[Matrix]] of Leadership on to Ultra Magnus, making Magnus the new Supreme Commander of the Autobots.

Autobot City was quickly attacked a second time by [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]], the upgraded version of [[Megatron (G1)| Megatron]]. Ultra Magnus lured him away on his shuttle, but was eventually shot-down onto the [[Junkion (planet)|Planet of Junk]]. Galvatron tracked him there and Ultra Magnus managed to draw him away from the other Autobots to face the enemy alone. Magnus attempted to open the Matrix, but the Matrix would not open, and Ultra Magnus was blown to pieces. Galvatron took the Matrix, intending to use it to destroy [[Unicron]].

After the Autobots befriended the [[Junkion]]s, they used their expertise to rebuild Ultra Magnus. Magnus joined the other Autobots in the battle with Unicron on [[Cybertron]] and helped drive the last of the Decepticons from their home planet. {{Storylink|The Transformers: The Movie (1986)}}

In 2006 (or 2010, if you're Japanese), Ultra Magnus ceased his role as a City Commander and became head-adviser to [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]], the new Supreme Commander of the Autobots and chosen one of the Matrix. A non-transforming but ''highly'' articulate Optimus Prime action figure(ine), Revoltech Ultra Magnus uses the Revoltech "revolver joints" for maximum poseability. His sculpting is explicitly in the style of [[Pat Lee|Pat "serfdom" Lee]]'s interpretation of Prime.

Magnus comes with a Matrix and photon rifle accessories, as well as a few alternate hands. A unique extra "hand" is a single moulded piece of Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime's hands clasped together diagonally, so that when attached to both the Prime and Magnus' respective wrists one can create a scene of the two Autobot leaders shakin' like homeys. For someone as powerful as he is, Blitzwing does not have the best track record when it comes to decision-making. First, he and fellow Triple Changer [[Astrotrain (G1)|Astrotrain]] decided to do away with both [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] and [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] and strike out on their own in search of fame, fortune, and [[energon]]. While this would normally be considered suicidal, the two Triple Changers somehow pulled it off and were free to finally do whatever it took to wipe out those pesky Autobots once and for all.

The way they chose to do this, however, did not do much to inspire confidence in their abilities. While his partner went off to play with some trains, Blitzwing's personal strategy for victory was to kidnap a football coach under the mistaken impression that the human was some kind of master strategist. Both Blitzwing and his pet tactician were beaten so quickly that it was almost embarrassing, and he crept carefully back to the [[Decepticon]] ranks, hoping that nobody would remember what had happened.

Blitzwing was also present during the infamous assault on [[Autobot City]] in 2005, where he was at the head of the first attack. Together with [[Shrapnel (G1)|Shrapnel]], he battled [[Hot Rod]] and [[Kup (G1)|Kup]] at [[Lookout Mountain]], a fight that did not go in his favour (Kup being surprisingly nimble for an old guy). Blitzwing is also shown participating in the general carnage at Autobot City a short time later, and is one of the several Decepticons who ran afoul of [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. Unlike his less fortunate comrades, Blitzwing was able to avoid getting run over, and even managed to shoot back a little before Prime beat him, which is more than most Decepticons expect when facing Optimus Prime. In fact, Blitzwing made it through the entire battle more or less intact, which meant he got to ride all the way to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] without anyone trying to kick him out the back door when he wasn't looking.

When the [[Quintesson]]s arrived on [[Chaar]] to bribe the [[Decepticon]] army with promises of [[energon]] and revenge, Blitzwing was the only one of his comrades to turn down their offers. He had met their kind before (or at least he thought they seemed familiar to him for ''some'' reason) and did not trust them, though he could not remember why. Upon the triumphant retun of [[Galvatron]], Blitzwing was the only Decepticon left to greet him. Later, during an assault on Cybertron, it was Blitzwing who discovered that the Quintessons were lying to Galvatron and plotting to destroy all Transformers (instead of just the Autobots, which Blitzwing had no problems with). He tried to report this to Galvatron, but when he could not convince the Decepticon leader, he turned to [[Rodimus Prime (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] for help. Together, Blitzwing and Rodimus were able to stop the [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticon]] commando team that had infiltrated Cybertron. Galvatron, unfortunately, suspected that Blitzwing was trying to betray the Decepticons and steal the "Decepticon Matrix of Leadership" for himself and threw the switch the Quintessons' nullifying switch, deactivating Transformers galaxy-wide until [[Spike Witwicky]] destroyed it. With the Quintessons' deception revealed, Galvatron attempted to renew hostilities with Rodimus, but Blitzwing drew his weapon and targeted Galvatron, stating that the battle was over for now. Seething, but seeing little alternative, Galvatron accepted and withdrew his forces from Cybertron, but banished Blitzwing from the Decepticon ranks forever.

Ironically, Blitzwing had gotten away with ''actually'' betraying Megatron, but then managed to get himself branded a traitor and was hurled out of the Decepticons while being perfectly loyal to Galvatron. He would appear again briefly in some crowd scenes, and in the ''[[Headmasters (television series)|Headmasters]]'' animated series, likely as the result of carelessness in production.

It should also be noted that when Rodimus offered Blitzwing a place among the Autobots, Blitzwing did turn it down, but also mentioned his respect for Rodimus. This makes Blitzwing one of the few notable Decepticons (along with [[Octane]], [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]], and [[Carnivac (G1)|Carnivac]]) who do not seem to have any real hatred for the Autobots.

Blitzwing participated in [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]'s assault on [[Iacon]] and demonstrated triple-changing abilities. However, after the disappearance of [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] in a [[space bridge]] explosion, Blitzwing was captured and imprisoned by the Autobots as a dangerous experiment of Shockwave's. He was freed from [[Autobase]] by [[the Fallen]], and presumably released back to the Decepticons after the temporary truce that resulted from the Fallen's defeat. Following the departure of the [[Ark]], Blitzwing served as Shockwave's lieutenant, and appeared to be undergoing some sort of mutation which Shockwave did not fully understand.

Somehow, Blitzwing made his way to [[Earth]], and was among the Decepticons captured and deactivated during [[Operation Liberation]]. Despite this, he was not among the Transformers recovered and controlled by [[Lazarus]], but instead ended up back on Cybertron, once more under Shockwave's command. Blitzwing was one of the warriors who accompanied Shockwave to Earth to capture the Earth-bound forces of Optimus Prime and Megatron, and was badly damaged by [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] in the battle that ensued.
