:Ironhide is an Autobot from the Movie continuity family.

Ironhide is the Autobot's resident weapons specialist and Optimus Prime's old friend. He is old because he is hard. He's probably had enough replacement parts to build a small army, but Ironhide doggedly refuses to roll over and die for anyone. He'll fight to the bitter end and take down more than his fair share of Decepticons in the process.

Ironhide doesn't always see optic to optic with Prime, despite their friendship. He's perhaps the more practical of the two, and more than a little trigger happy, so he can be more willing to push to Autobot code to the limit if he thinks it will get the job done faster.

He has more guns than a smaller third-world country.

:Voice actor: Jess Harnell (English)

Responding to Bumblebee's call for assistance, Ironhide and the other Autobots under Optimus Prime's direct command came to Earth, with the old soldier landing in a suburban pool. As he climbed out of the water, a little human girl asked him if he was the tooth fairy before he quicky hid behind some trees when the child's parents exited the house. He scanned their GMC Topkick truck and transformed, leaving the residence.

After meeting Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes, Ironhide displayed an eagerness to show off his cannons. Going to the Witwicky residence, Ironhide was urinated upon by a rodent. This unpleasant situation was made worse by Sam Witwicky's refusal to let him shoot it. He also suggested shooting the parents, as they were interfering with Sam's search for Captain Witwicky's glasses. Optimus reminded him that they don't hurt humans, and scolded his weapons expert, to which Ironhide responded that he merely thought it should remain an option.

After Sam, Mikaela and his parents were captured by Sector Seven, Ironhide and the other Autobots totally outclassed the S7 agents by instantly disarming them of their weapons, then rescuing the boy and his girl. Unfortunately, their escape was to be short-lived as Bumblebee was captured by the mysterious agents after saving Sam and Mikaela's lives. The next morning, when Optimus Prime was pondering their next move, Ironhide asked why they had to save the humans, prompting Prime to go into one of his long speeches about freedom and sacrifice, concluding that the humans need not pay for the mistakes of Cybertron-kind, and if need be, he would destroy the All Spark by fusing it with his own spark. Inspired by his words, Ironhide debated no further and the Autobots out for the location of the All Spark, Hoover Dam. Half-way there, to their surprise they see Bumblebee leading a column of Sector Seven assault vehicles, so Ironhide and the rest of the Autobots join the unit.

During the final battle at Mission City, Ironhide realized that the F-22 Raptor that appeared to be providing Captain Lennox's troops with air cover was in fact Starscream. With Bumblebee's help, he lifted a discarded truck full of Furby toys to protect the humans against Starscream's missiles. Soon afterwards, Brawl attacked, forcing Ironhide to do several somersaults to avoid the Decepticon's missiles and totally scare the crap out of a lady sitting in the middle of the street.

Ironhide and Ratchet took it upon themselves to protect Sam as he made his way his way to a rooftop where he could pass the All Spark to a military helicopter. Unfortunately Starscream blocked off Sam's path, prompting the Autobot guardians to immediately engage the more powerful Decepticon. After being knocked down, Ironhide implored Sam to keep running.

After the destruction of Megatron and the All Spark, Ironhide sombrely cradled the body of the fallen Jazz while Ratchet informed Optimus Prime that there was nothing they could do. Ironhide then gave Captain Lennox a ride home, and spent the remainder of the day observing Sam and Mikaela making out on the hood of Bumblebee's vehicle mode.
:Voice actor: Mark Ryan

Brief aside with Optimus Prime reveals Ironhide's actions may have resulted in the destruction of a small planet at one point. Ironhide maintains that it was going to blow up anyway.

:Ironhide transforms into a modified black 2006 GMC Topkick 4500 four-wheel drive pickup truck. The two exhaust smokestacks behind the rear cabin have been shortened from the real scaled length and the prototype due to safety and durability reasons, but otherwise the vehicle mode is very accurate to the real prop truck... well, aside from the fact Ironhide's massive missile launchers are quite visible underneath the vehicle.

:Ironhide features an Automorph gimmick in his legs during transformation: As the user swings down his feet, all of the panels that make up his legs automaticaly shift and fold into place. This gimmick does not affect Ironhide's articulation. The instructions omit the exact positioning of the roof panels and rear window on his back, confusingly.

:In robot mode, Ironhide is quite accurate to his CGI design, though obviously simplified for toy practicality. Contrary to appearances, he features full standard up-down and lateral shoulder articulation, as well as articulation in his elbows, hips and knees. His arm-mounted cannons are inactive while mounted on both arms. However, detaching the left arm cannon and combining it with the right arm creates a huge functional missile launcher that is almost as big as Ironhide himself. The missile launching mechanism itself isn't the typical spring-loaded button design, instead relying on a pressure-launch system to fire the missiles from the four barrels.

Trivia
* In the initial draft of the movie, Ironhide was not present among the Autobot cast. However, due to fan input, he replaced female Autobot Arcee in later drafts and the subsequent final script.

* In the movie, both of Ironhide's guns have 10,000 parts each.

* According to an article from Edmunds, Monroe Truck Equipment, in association with Hasbro, will release a GMC TopKick Ironhide special edition featuring most of the modifications made to the Ironhide vehicle props used in the movie. Sadly, installing a grumpy trigger-happy alien robot into the works is not part of the included modifications.
First Lieutenant Jazz is one happy-go-lucky Autobot. Good-natured and always able to take things in his stride, he provides a decent contrast to the more serious demeanour of Ironhide or Prime himself. He's also a talker, something Ironhide and Prime like to tease him about. He might be the smallest Autobot but he's by no means a coward. His only real complaint is that he gets stuck fighting the small ones.
Ghosts Of Yesterday
Onboard the Ark, Jazz was the first to detect the Ghost 1's presence, and was later badly damaged in a fight with the Decepticons. After being repaired, he and Ratchet fought together against Barricade.
Part of Prime's crew that went to Earth, Jazz, after finding a suitable form, met up with the other Autobots, greeting Sam and Mikaela as "little bitches". He casually sat while Optimus explained their mission—on the hood of another car. When Sam and Mikaela were captured by Sector Seven, Jazz used a magnet to relieve the humans of their weapons. After Bumblebee was captured by Sector Seven during the retreat, Jazz expressed his desire to rescue him, but was overruled by Prime, who didn't believe it possible to accomplish this without harming the humans.

In the final battle with the Decepticons, Jazz valiantly attacked Megatron to buy time for the others, but was completely overmatched. The Decepticon leader tossed him through the air, stomped him into a building, and finally tore him in two, killing him.
Techspecs
Despite his quite unambiguous death in the film itself, the packaging for the upcoming Target-exclusive Jazz redeco (see below) claims he survived this encounter and was repaired by Ratchet, and that he chose his new colors as a way to relieve boredom during his long convalescence.

:Jazz transforms into a silver Pontiac Solstice Custom Hardtop. Included is a blaster weapon that elongates into a sniper rifle, which may also be clipped directly onto his rear spoiler when in vehicle mode. In robot mode, the section featuring this same rear spoiler may be kept folded onto his back or worn on either shoulder as a shield. An interesting undocumented feature is a hinge joint located on the bottom of the rifle can attach to the shield's hinge joint, creating three choice weapon configurations: (a) a mounted long range sniper rifle, (b) an ambidextrous shoulder-mounted canon, or (c) a short range blaster with built-in shield somewhat akin to what has been seen in Jazz's concept art and in the movie itself.

: As with most of the mainline toys, he features a Automorphing gimmick that is activated by pushing the car roof down onto his back and locking it into place. This raises his head and slides his chest panels into proper position for the robot mode. This feature, like the weaponry mentioned above, is not documented at all, so one must be careful to not press the chest and the back at the same time.

*Autobot Jazz (Legends, 2007)

: A much smaller version of the character, Legends Jazz features limited articulation and detail, along with a much simpler transformation. A rather glaring side-effect of this transformation and a desire to mimic the hood chest of the larger toy is the addition of a second front bumper on the roof of his alt-mode. If this means Jazz also includes a second engine to go with this front bumper or an attempt at compensation for a case of police bar envy is unknown.

*Final Battle Jazz (Deluxe, 2007)
: Japanese ID number: MA-14

: An extensive retool of Jazz, modifying his head and most of his legs to give them a broken, battle-scarred appearance. Amusingly, because Hasbro chose to keep his vehicle mode prestine, nearly the rest of his body is undamaged. The damaged parts and his head have a black and blue deco, representing exposed circuitry and glowing conduits.

: Jazz comes with a brand new spring-loaded gattling cannon weapon (called a quagma cannon on the packaging), modeled after the actual weapon the CGI model of Jazz appears with. It can fire a transparent blue projectile and like his original weapon, can be mounted in several configurations: (a) Mounted on his right arm with the gattling cannon/launcher facing forward as he appears in most promotional material, and (b) mounted on his left arm with the flip-out long rifle barrel pointed forwards.

: Unusually for a regular Deluxe figure, Jazz is packed in his card in robot mode, no doubt to highlight the changes to the figure that would not be visible in vehicle mode.

: An extensive redeco of Deluxe class Jazz, this Target-exclusive has a colour and paint deco based heavily upon Generation 1 Jazz's Martini Racing scheme, though he is lacking in Martini sponsorship for obvious reasons, replacing them with his own name. ==Trivia==
*The packaging text for the deluxe Jazz figure refers to his weapon as a "telescoping sword". As ridiculous as this sounds considering this weapon looks like a firearm, this very idea comes from sketches of a sword weapon featured on the same concept art that has Jazz showcasing the short range blaster/shield combination stated above. Way to compensate text-writing guy!
