Synopsis
As the issue begins, the Hot Rod Patrol and the Race Track Patrol are in grave danger, under assault from the Deluxe Insecticons. Falcon is killed by Venom and drained of his Energon. The situation looks dire, until Groundshaker shows up in his ATV and rescues the Hot Rod Patrol. Groundshaker offers the Race Track Patrol a ride as well, but they choose to travel to Little Iacon on their own, despite the rampaging Insecticons hovering right over their heads. However, as soon as Groundshaker pulls away, Shockwave arrives. He explains that he may have been rash in judgement, and the Race Track Patrol are free to do as they wish. They speed off towards Little Iacon, while Flanker stays behind, ready to return to Decepticon headquarters with Shockwave. However, Shockwave promptly feeds him to the Insecticons, who have "new orders."

Meanwhile, the Hot Rod Patrol interrogate Groundshaker; it is revealed that he is one of the first Micromasters, full-sized Transformers that willingly downgraded to smaller, more efficient bodies, as opposed to the second generation of Micromasters, who were created in those forms. Groundshaker soon takes the patrol to meet Countdown, who not only claims to have seen the future, but insists that the Hot Rod Patrol will play a part in "making things right." They are suitably unnerved by this, and depart for Little Iacon, with Countdown's blessing.

In Little Iacon, the Hot Rod Patrol enter a secret nightclub where Autobot and Decepticon Micromasters mingle, drink, and throw globs of ooze at likenesses of Optimus Prime and Megatron. Inside the club, Greaser informs Motorhead that Crunch is dead, which shakes the Decepticon further. Meanwhile, Ground Hog suggests that Greaser and his teammates join up with them, after all there is strength in numbers. Trip-Up and Roller Force get into a scuffle over seating arrangements, while Roadhandler confronts Big Daddy about his loyalties, which results in the two racing. The race attracts the attention of all the Micromasters in the area, as Roadhandler is the current champion. Big Daddy puts up a valiant effort, but is beaten in the final stretch by Roadhandler. The Hot Rod Patrol rally around their leader, even though he lost, and it is revealed that someone mysterious is watching them with great interest.

Meanwhile, a shuttle carrying Skystalker and Skyhopper returns to Cybertron!
*This issue was available in two covers:
**Cover A: By Pat Lee, featuring a poster from Holigan Skateboards
**Cover B: By Rob Ruffalo
*This issue takes its name from the ninth album by Bad Religion.
*It is patently obvious that Rob Ruffolo was drawing the Micromasters from model sheets that did not include their backs, as the back detail on most characters is generic, at best.
*During a sequence in Little Iacon, a dart board is visible with Optimus and Megatron from the 2nd Printing of Prime Directive #2 (art by Pat Lee). The problem is that Prime and Megatron appear as they did on modern Earth - hundreds of years after this miniseries occurs.
*If large portions of the dialogue are incoherent to you, you've not the only one, after release, several people made comparisons because the slang in this issue and the "Jive-talk" from the movie Airplane!
*In the spread in Little Iacon, one of the Micros is bearing a Blendtron logo. Issue #4 confirms that this is just a "tatoo" and has no deeper meaning.
*Reader mail is answered by Matt Hansen
*The issue contained advertisements for:
*Chronology: Micromasters

Synopsis
Big Daddy, his teammates on the Hot Rod Patrol, the Monster Truck Patrol, and Crunch attempt to rescue an unconscious Roadbuster from a Decepticon attack party consisting of the Race Track Patrol and Blaze Master. During the brawl, Motorhead accidentally kills Crunch.

Meanwhile, at the Autobot headquarters in Iacon, Countdown and Groundshaker return from space to find the base largely abandoned. The first Autobots they encounter, Topspin and Twin Twist seem surprised to see them, and more surprised that Optimus Prime isn't with them. Countdown and Groundshaker are equally surprised that Optimus has not returned to Cybertron before they did. Countdown confronts Ultra Magnus and Fortress Maximus and informs them that Operation: Containment, an attempt to prevent the Decepticon threat from spreading beyond Cybertron, has failed. Countdown explains that the Decepticon Skystalker and his forces ravaged the peaceful planet Paradron, and that the Autobots need to mount an intergalactic patrol force to prevent the same fate from befalling other worlds. Ultra Magnus and Fortress Maximus disagree, stating that Autobot forces are already underpowered and spread thin as it is. Groundshaker interrupts, belligerently demanding the Autobot command take action, before he is pulled from the room by Countdown.
As Countdown and Groundshaker leave the command center, they overhear Big Daddy and his patrol griping about the day's events, which interests Countdown greatly. Big Daddy and company then confront Magnus and Maximus, upset that Crunch lost his life defending Roadbuster. The argument grows more heated, before Fortress Maximus orders the Hot Rod Patrol to turn in their weapons and dismisses them.
Meanwhile, the Race Track Patrol returns to Decepticon headquarters, where Blitzwing and Octane are tormenting Greasepit, who is weakened from a lack of fuel. Inside, Shockwave is in conference with Scorponok and Ratbat, discussing the lack of fuel resources. The Race Track Patrol enter the room and demand that Shockwave give them a fair cut of the day's spoils. When Shockwave refuses, the Race Track Patrol storm out.
Back at Autobase, the Hot Rod Patrol get into an altercation with Sidetrack and Sunrunner from the Battle Patrol, leading to a shouting match which only ends when Big Daddy announces his intention to leave the Autobots. The Hot Rod Patrol follow his lead, and the group set out for Little Iacon, in neutral territory.
Along the way, they encounter the Race Track Patrol, who have similarly deserted their posts. The two groups almost fight, but then realize that both patrols have rejected the war. Motorhead, however, seems very withdrawn, still shaken by Crunch's death. Before the two patrols can talk further, they are interrupted by Flanker and Falcon, who are being pursued by the Insections!

Items of note
*This issue was available in six covers:
**Cover A: Gatefold cover by Rob Ruffolo
**Cover B: by Don Figueroa
**Cover C: By Pat Lee
**Incentive cover, which uses the same art as Cover B, but the disc is shiny
**Dynamic Forces Cover: by Joe Ng, limited to 2000 copies.
**Dyanmic Forces Red Foil Cover, which uses the same art as the normal Dynamic Forces cover. Limited to 1000 copies.

*Like all the issues in this miniseries, the title is a reference to the band Bad Religion. The song "Destined For Nothing" appears on the album The Process of Belief.
*In the initial two-page spread, Astrotrain is visible in the distance. However, his blurry appearance initially prompted some readers to mistake him for the planet Quintessa.
*In this issue, and for the majority of the series, Blaze Master is a member of the Decepticons.
* The Operation Containment Countdown mention ties in directly to Jetfire's flashback in Original Sin.
*The script called for Paradron Medic to be visible on the landscape of Paradron. She wasn't. No huge loss.
*On Paradron, there's a combined Autobot & Decepticon logo, which was also visible on the doorway to Vector Sigma in Countdown to Extinction (comic issue).

*The Letters page by Matthew Hansen gives significant back-story to the issue, explaining how the Autobots and Decepticons collaborated together (mentioned by Fortress Maximus) to develop Little Iacon, where they would farm a generation of newer, smaller soldiers to develop more troops for both sides. Eventually, both sides pulled out early and grabbed who they can.

*Cover date: September, 2004
The issue starts with a brief flashback where Alpha-Q introduces Tidal Wave (now reformatted into Mirage) to Slugslinger and Sharkticon. Mirage brings up the fact that he's fallen out of Scorponok's favor in light of his failure to acquire the seismic warheads from Ironhide, and Alpha-Q responds that Scorponok has fallen out of favor with Unicron as well. Back in the present, Mirage's team continues their heavy offensive against the Omnicons as Sharkticon scoops up an unconscious Kicker underwater.

Deep inside of Unicron, Megatron continues to show Optimus Prime what the Terrorcons are doing on Earth. Though Prime is reluctant to unleash Megatron upon the universe once more, Megatron again offers him a choice: Prime can help him escape, and Megatron will destroy the Terrorcons and help the Autobots defeat Unicron, or he can sit back and enjoy the show.

In Los Angeles, Rad starts crying with the realization that Alexis is dead, until she comes out of nowhere and tries to drag him to safety. Rad embraces her and tells her never to leave again, before they both run for cover.

On Cybertron, Jetfire and Councillor Avalon lament Prime's disappearance, and the fact that none of the other councilors are willing to accept the fact that they are once again at war, when Prowl interupts with the news of the attack on the four earth Cities. Jetfire gathers together an army of Autobots (and one former Decepticon) and opens a space bridge portal to each of the beseiged cities. As they prepare to step through, Grindor, Sureshock, and High Wire arrive. They've a vested interest in making sure Rad, Alexis, and Carlos survive, and they combine together to form Perceptor before they all march through the portals and into the war zones.

Meanwhile, Optimus Prime makes his way through the tunnels within Unicron, telling Megatron (and possibly himself too) that he's doing it for the good of the universe, not for Megatron. After a short and unanticipated swim through a pool of acid, Optimus Prime arrives at Unicron's lateral sensor nodes. He is just about to shut them down when Unicron's defenses activate and swarm over him.

Back on Cybertron, it is revealed that Avalon's decision support Jetfire was not out of concern for Earth, but as part of an insidious plan constructed in collaboration with none other than Alpha Quintesson!

Items of note
*The large group shot of Autobots does not contain the Armada recolors such as Treadbolt.
*Red Alert and Thrust appears as they did in for the duration of the Armada, and not in their Powerlinx colors.
*Landquake's head has been significantly redesigned to differentiate him from Landmine.
*Slugslinger appears to have some kind of facial irregularity like his toy, however later in the Summer Special
