==Synopsis==
As [[Weirdwolf]] and [[Skullcruncher]] outfit [[Mindwipe (G1)|Mindwipe]] with the bombs Scorponok has specially prepared, the [[Autobot]] [[Headmaster (technology)|Headmasters]] wonder why the villains broke off their fight so suddenly, and begin investigating.

Elsewhere, the [[Predacon (G1)|Predacon]]s are brought to a halt by the [[Trainbot]]s and quickly begin fighting them. [[Defensor (G1)|Defensor]] and [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]] grapple. As [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] orders [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundblaster]] to call for reinforcements, [[Scorponok (G1)|Scorponok]] pops up to suggest maybe it's time to change strategy, and Galvatron tells him to get lost.

[[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]] announces that the [[Cybertonuron]] is completed and must not fall into Decepticon hands!

As the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticon]]s and [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbot]]s clash, [[Chromedome (G1)|Chromedome]] spots Mindwipe and Weirdwolf, and follows them as they meet Skullcruncher at an entrance to the planet's sub-levels. After Mindwipe disappears inside, Chromedome summons the other Headmasters with his telepathic powers. [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress]] lets him know that the Cybertonuron is complete and the Headmasters assume that that's what the Decepticons are after. Weirdwolf and Skullcruncher block their way, but Chromedome makes it through and pursues Mindwipe. Minutes later, Battleship Maximus arrives overhead and provides covering fire so the other Headmasters can run inside as well.

Chromedome somehow takes a wrong turn, and gets into trouble as the walkway collapses under him, sending him plummeting into the depths. The other three Headmasters run into other defenses, while Mindwipe finds himself under attack by [[Denki kōmori|bats]]. Chromedome comes around to find himself in an area filled with sulfuric acid. On the surface, the battle between the Autobots and Decepticons for control of the planet rages on.

In the Autobot base, Rodimus tells [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel Witwicky]] that he believes with the Cybertonuron, they'll soon gain more allies, but first they must repel the Decepticon attack.

Shaking his bat escort, Mindwipe reaches [[Vector Sigma]] and starts planting the bombs. Chromedome arrives and challenges him, but Mindwipe informs him that the bombs are tamper proof, and they have 30 minutes to get out. While the Decepticon scarpers, the other Headmasters arrive. Skullcruncher and Weirdwolf spot that the bombs are set and immediately head in the other direction while the four Autobots make a futile attempt to try and remove the bombs. With time running shot, the Headmasters are forced to abandon their attempt and flee to the surface to sound the alarm.

On the surface, Scorponok informs [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] that he has arranged for the planting of the bombs and the destruction of Cybertron, ostensibly to prevent the newly-created [[Cybertonuron]] from falling into Autobot hands. As Galvatron departs for Vector Sigma's chamber to stop Scorponok's plan, the Autobot Headmasters inform Rodimus of the situation, and he quickly and regretfully arranges for the evacuation of the planet. As the Autobots and Decepticons escape to safety, Galvatron enters Vector Sigma's chamber—just as the bombs go off and he is consumed in the fireball. The explosion devastates Cybertron utterly, reducing it to a charred, broken hunk floating in space.

Touching down on the ruined, uninhabitable surface of Cybertron, Rodimus Prime realises that the age of his generation of Transformers has come to an end. Vowing to find a new planet for the Transformers to live on, he appoints Fortress as the new [[Supreme Commander]] of the Autobots, and accepts [[Blurr (G1)|Blurr]] and [[Kup (G1)|Kup]]'s offer to accompany him. When [[Arcee (G1)|Arcee]] moves to join them, he refuses, telling her to stay and take care of [[Wheelie (G1)|Wheelie]] and [[Daniel Witwicky (G1)|Daniel]]. Promising to return, Rodimus and his companions depart for space.

It held a war room with monitors watching all the other five factions, a repair bay where [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] could work his magic, and a prison level which the Autobots used to imprison [[Blitzwing (G1)|Blitzwing]]. One million years later, Autobase's scanners picked up a [[Mini-Con]] homing beacon from [[Earth]], {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 3|Armada #3}} so [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]] led a small team to the other planet in search for the Mini-Cons. On Earth, they fought the [[Decepticon]]s who had also received the signal. After a tough battle, the Autobots made a deal with the Mini-Cons to help them look for their missing comrades. To this end, they built a new Autobase, '''Autobase: Earth''', in [[Lincoln, South Dakota|Lincoln]] for them and the Mini-Cons to live in for the time being. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 5|Armada #5}}

The young alliance was put to the test immediately. Despite that the Mini-Cons had been right and their disobedience had saved the Autobots from certain doom, Optimus Prime was not pleased with the Mini-Cons' initiative and reprimanded [[Sparkplug (Armada)|Sparkplug]], as representative of the Mini-Cons, about it. The Mini-Cons, of course, did not take this well. When they suddenly left the Autobase not much later, naturally the Autobots's first guess was that they were taking a time-out. This wasn't the case, however, as an [[Mini-Con Ark|alien object]] had hypnotized the Mini-Cons and intended to take the Mini-Cons off of Earth. The Autobots arrived too late to stop the abduction, {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 8|Armada #8}} but the mark left behind by the perpetrators left no doubt about [[Mini-Con|their identity]] and thus [[Moon (moon)|where]] the Mini-Cons (and [[Rad White|Rad]]) had been taken. The Autobots returned to Autobase, initially to sit around for either the Decepticons or the Mini-Con abductors on the [[Moon (moon)|Moon]] to make a move. When [[Alexis Thi Dang|Alexis]] and [[Carlos Lopez|Carlos]] inquired about the passive behavior, Optimus explained that the only way they could save the Mini-Cons and Rad was that they'd get materials from Cybertron. However, if they'd use the space bridge, that would create a signal the Decepticons could pick up and use to find the location of Autobase: Cybertron. Carlos and Alexis had little understanding for that logic and demanded that the Autobots take action themselves, to which they obliged. At Autobase: Cybertron, Optimus Prime was greeted by [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]], acting commander of the Cybertron-stationed Autobot forces. Because resources were scarce, Optimus could only be given one transport gunship to carry out the rescue mission on his own. He returned with the ship to Autobase: Earth, {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 10|Armada #10}} where he hooked up Carlos and Alexis to the [[Simulcrum]] system, so that they could join him on the mission without having to leave the safety of Autobase. {{storylink|Dreamwave Armada issue 11|Armada #11}}

Some time after Rad and the Mini-Cons had been rescued and everyone had gotten back to base safely, Autobase was contacted by [[Smokescreen (Armada)|Smokescreen]] and [[Scavenger (Armada)|Scavenger]], who had recently come to Earth per space bridge. They reported about a doomsday weapon the Decepticons had been building. Optimus Prime was ready to put all of Autobase's resources into stopping whatever the Decepticons were up to, but Sparkplug reminded him that there were still Mini-Cons missing and that if the Autobots wouldn't come to their aid, there was a significant chance the Mini-Cons currently allied with the Autobots would leave. Optimus acknowledged this concern and personally informed the Mini-Cons of the upcoming rescue mission. {{storylink|Fire & Ice}}

Though the rescue mission was a success, odd things happened thereafter. Optimus Prime disappeared in [[Alaska]], while [[Optimus Prime (G1)|another, dead Optimus Prime]] appeared inside Autobase: Earth. Contact was made with Jetfire at Autobase: Cybertron to ask if he had seen "their" Optimus Prime and what to make of all this. The two stations agreed to keep searching, which resulted in the discovery of a Mini-Con from another dimension: [[Over-Run (Armada)|Over-Run]]. {{storylink|Worlds Collide, Part 1 of 4}} Over-Run was brought back to base, where he explained that Optimus Prime was stuck in another dimension and that he could retrieve him with his [[null-reality pod]]s. The problems were that the Decepticons had confiscated the pods and that the dimension Optimus Prime was stuck in still had to be identified. The Mini-Cons volunteered to infiltrate the Silver Ridge base to retrieve the pods, while the Autobots and some Mini-Cons would stay at Autobase and scan realities looking for Optimus.

At Autobase: Cybertron, a disturbance in local dimensional space stemming from overuse of the [[space bridge nexus]] at [[Decepticon Command Headquarters]] attracted the attention of Jetfire's group, and they set out to discover what was wrong. Meanwhile, Megatron's group attacked Autobase: Earth shortly after the Mini-Cons left. Megatron knew Prime was gone, but was surprised by the inefficient way the Autobots defended their base.
