Call for deletion, Dec 2006
12/19/2006 - So... this page is pretty much now utterly redundant, isn't it? I mean, there's only what, a half-dozen known female TFs not already listed on the "Female Transformers" Category page. This List page has pretty much worn out its usefulness as the wiki has grown, so I vote it be marked for deletion. --M Sipher 02:06, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

:I still don't know why you hate lists. This page serves some functions that the Female Transformers category doesn't serve, like if I wanted to know all the Female Transformers from, say, the Unicron Trilogy. It sure would beat clicking every single article in the category to find out. This format also allows us to put notes as necessary next to an individual entry, like "This character was a man over in this country." Besides, keeping this page here ain't harming nobody, and it's no worse than all the very necessary (I'd say) list pages of toy releases by country and year. --ItsWalky 02:13, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

:I agree with Walky -- lists provide some functionality that can't be found in the categories, until/unless the Mediawiki software is upgraded to allow categories to be sorted in different ways, shown "flat" with their subcategory contents on the same page, etc.. I see Sipher's point, of course, that it seems redundant to have *both* a category and a list if their contents are going to be so similar. The only significant difference is that the category list is sorted alphabetically and contains no "notes". I'm inclined to say that makes the list superior, since somebody who knows the name of the character they're looking for can do an inline text search in their browser to find it on the list page, but if you know the series and not the name finding it on the category page will still be hard. Still, I don't think we should delete the category just because the list is better... I think that living with this redundandy is probably best. I would guess there aren't all that many lists that we're going to keep around anyway, so the total amount of redundancy will probably remain small. --Steve-o 16:37, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
Older discussion
Thanks for this great list, X-BoB.

I've made a bunch of modifications to improve its readability, but I think there is still a lot of work to be done. Mainly, I am unfamiliar with a large number of these characters, so I don't know what the proper way of writing their Wikilinks will be. I've done just a small handful of them, and left most of the rest the way X-BoB wrote them, even among ones that I would know. Please feel free to improve those links.

I also modified the way the Japanese character names were given. When appropriate, I gave preference to the English name and simply mentioned the Japanese name after it. If only the Japanese version is female, I list the Japanese name.

Some specific questions:
*Should TFU Sureshock really be on this list? I know the Japanese version of Sureshock was female, but Sureshock's sex is indeterminate as far as I know. I would assume that the same applies to Universe Sureshock.
*I have no idea what is meant by A-Armorhide.
*I don't know what the UT "Minerva" is or why it's in quotes.
*The androids section should be split up by continuity. Also, I assume that Artimus is a misspelling of Artemis, but, is that supposed to be the same Artemis that is already listed in the Beast Era section?
*In X-BoB's initial list, it appeared that the Japanese name for BM Blackarachnia got cut off. I assume, though, that her name is still Blackwidow in Beast Wars Returns. If that is correct, then no further modification should be needed on her entry.

There are a LOT of Arcees on this list. Disambiguating them will be a lot of work.
Oh, Thanks Walky. I'd just been callign ehr 'Loosey,' as Junkion-ized version of the name he calls her in the episode, but that's clearly nto her REAL name, so I'll settle for an official JP one.

Cancix and Sagittarii needs to be on the list too.
http://makeashorterlink.com/?X2A221BDC
You can explicitly ID 7 of the 12 members of the Covenant assault by spoken names or commen sense from their zodiac-forms.
There's one really ODD man-out in the lower-right here. That leaves 4 names unaccounted for. Sagittari, Cancix, Piscor and Aquator. Aquator is explictly stated to be male in Omega Point. Though there is some dodgily inconsistent coloring on the far-background covenant members (Geminator is blue when he dies) if we assume that the two females here on the top-right are SEPERATE characters (and there's no reason NOT to, the detailing around their waistline is totally different AND they're different colors) then you have 12 physical 'types' accounted for among the Covenant Assault Force.

Libras seems to have survived the 'Six on one Stroke' attack by Shokaract, but bought it before everyone reverted next to energy. We saw her standing next to the red 'bot I ID as Sagittarii here in-between those two scenes.
Assuming Piscor is male (based on his -or name,) that means our two females much be Cancix and Sagittarii, though it's impossible to say which is which.
I came to many of the same conclusions as you have about the members of the Covenant, Derik, although I think there are at least thirteen distinct robot forms seen. However, I took a slightly different tack on the inexplicable scorpion and assumed that it was a misdrawn Cancix, since Cancix would be the only other arthropod changeform amongst the Covenant, and therefore took the red female to be Cancix, with the blue one who is not Libras as Sagittarii, and the blackish-purple one to be one of the other two miscolored (although it's also possible, maybe likely, that Sagittarii should be blackish-purple and was miscolored as Libras). -LV 02:08, 30 March 2006 (UTC)
Maybe-females
Because apparently after about a month or so controversy is coming up: I added various characters to the list under the term "half-qualifiers" (probably not the prettiest option to list them, but the best one I could think of). These would be characters who come close to the definition of female TF or have a good chance of being one but lack any definitive proof/argument. I added them to give this page something extra in regards to the category and because I am quite certain people will find a list of them useful/interesting.

In Transmutate's case, it's on the list because the trivia section mentions the script implies it once was female (which may or may not still be true, depending on how you wish to read the description). "Perhaps once female" is not female, but it is worth mentioning somewhere central for people who wish to know more about the Transformers' female cast. Mega was kind of a transformer and female but her combined robot mode with Giga was male. Also as half-qualifiers should the female hologram computer systems such as T-AI or Teletraan-15 be added because they seem to be, to some extent, autobots. :I think Mega-Overlord deserves a mention, as do female Cybertronian computers. Generics, on the other hand, I'm not too fond of to start adding because... well, we only have looks to base things on, and that leaves us with a rather biased view. Most of the females in UT, for instance, wouldn't be recognized as female on looks alone, and there's some generics that are too much of a could-be case to just list. With those limits, I don't feel much for adding generics because it'd be too subjective. Geewunling 02:05, 26 November 2009 (EST)
Galvatron kicks the Beast Wars on Gaea into overdrive when he summons forth one of the greatest monstrosities of the past, Majin Zarak, to lay waste to the Maximals.

Synopsis
Above the Planet Gaea, where Lio Convoy and his Maximals are fighting the Beast Wars against Galvatron and his Predacons, a strange ship appears. It disrupts a musical battle between the Jointrons and the Seacons, plowing through them and breaking apart their combined forms. As the ship draws nearer, the radar on the Yukikaze warns the Maximals of its approach. They turn to Lio Convoy for directions. Lio Convoy rises with a twinkle in his eye.

Over on the Galvaburg II, Galvatron and Gigastorm have discovered the approaching ship, too. Gigastorm recommends destroying it, but Galvatron has a "feeling" that it will bring the Predacons great fortune.

The ship crashes into the frozen tundra of Gaea's North Pole. Apache picks it up on his scanners and Lio Convoy orders a unit to investigate. Lio Junior begs to go, but the other Maximals shoot him down, telling him to go to his room and take a nap or whatever it is whippersnappers do these days. Lio Convoy orders Lio Junior to stay behind in case they need back-up, much to his dismay. Tasmania Kid interjects, asking Convoy to let Lio Junior go and that he'll take responsibility for him. Lio Convoy concedes and allows Lio Junior to participate.

Taking Santon and Skywarp along, Lio Junior and Tasmania Kid arrive in the frozen north. They then change to beast mode and begin searching. They eventually find the ship, seemingly abandoned, and Lio Junior wastes no time rushing inside to explore. Against Skywarp's advisement, Lio Junior begins pressing random buttons on a computer console and activates a teleport gate. No one knows what what a "teleport gate" is except Tasmania Kid (oddly). He explains that it is a device that can control space-time and pluck living creatures from any point in history, including Transformers! The computer, however, requires a "control unit" in order to function.

Lio Junior finds the control unit (a rock-like spear) inside a floating ball, but before he can grab it, Max B drops in and swipes it. He then leaves and meets back up with Hellscream, Thrustor and Dirgegun. Being a brash young stereotype, Lio Junior chases after Max B by himself and demands the Predacons fork over the control unit. Hellscream casually brushes his threat aside, telling Lio Junior to "go home and suck on his mother's breast". Lio Junior attacks, but it tossed aside by Hellscream without much effort. The other Maximals finally catch up and Lio Junior tells Skywarp and Santon its time to combine. Skywarp refuses, telling Lio Convoy that they aren't spiritually in sync enough to combine.

Lio Junior gets frustrated and recklessly attacks Hellscream, snatching back the control unit. Hellscream responds by firing a powerful "Terrorstorm" blast at him. Tasmania Kid, however, leaps in front of him and takes the whole of the blast. Before he passes out, he tells Lio Junior that apparently there's nothing that can stop his selfish behavior. The Predacons then combine their power and attack the injured Maximals with a volley of firepower. Like a helpless little baby, Lio Junior cries and begs for them to please stop. Luckily, Lio Convoy and the other Maximals arrive just in time to stop them and scare them off.

The battle over and Kid not responding to treatment, Lio Convoy asks for a private meeting with Lio Junior. Lio Convoy scolds him, telling him that he ordered him to investigate, not engage in battle. Lio Junior snaps back, saying that if it weren't for him, the Predacons would have the control unit. Now, the Maximals have the power of the teleport gate in their hands. Lio Convoy tells him none of that matters, since it may be at the cost of Kid's life. He asks Lio Junior if the control unit was worth his friend's life. Lio Junior responds by saying he doesn't have any friends because everyone's always making fun of him and he just wanted to prove himself. Lio Convoy asks him if he's forgotten the reason the Maximals are fighting. Lio Junior apparently has, so Convoy reminds him that it's to protect the peace in the universe. He then says that anyone who has forgotten the Maximal reason for fighting is no comrade of his. Lio Junior throws a tantrum, saying he no longer wants to be a Maximal and that with the power of the control unit, he'll defeat the Predacons himself. He then transforms and runs off.

As the Maximals fly off in the Yukikaze, tending to a mortally wounded Tasmania Kid, Dirgegun reports to Galvatron on the Galvaburg II that the control unit is required to operate the teleport gate. Galvatron is apparently aware of Lio Junior's tantrum and mocks Lio Convoy's inability to take command of a single brat. He then finds Lio Junior alone in a forest and, with the rest of the Predacons, approaches him. Galvatron says that he came to help; the forest is full of dangerous animals and pitfalls. The Predacons will happily take the wayward cub in and protect him so long as he hands over the control unit. Lio Junior refuses. Galvatron then sits down and decides to tell him "the truth". The teleport gate is actually a doomsday weapon capable of destroying a whole planet. The Predacons activated it by mistake and now they need the control unit to shut it down, otherwise the planet will be destroyed in under an hour.

Lio Junior is about to buy it, when the still injured and bandaged Kid comes crawling out of the woods, warning Junior not to listen. Junior isn't sure who to believe, but decides that preventing the destruction of Gaea is a sure way to earn the respect of Lio Convoy and the others.

As Kid collapses, Junior returns with Galvatron to the Galvaburg II and hands over the control unit. Immediately, Galvatron orders Gigastorm to release the teleport gate and summon the most powerful and vicious Transformer in history: Megatron (or maybe Megatron; see Note below). Hellscream then throws Lio Junior in a cell and taunts him with the imminent destruction of the Maximals.

On the Yukikaze, Kid returns and tells everyone that Lio Junior has defected to the Predacons. Lio Convoy swears to give him a lot more than a stearn talking to when they get him back, but Tasmania Kid urges them not to judge Junior so harshly. He says he knows how Lio Junior feels, as he was also a young runt trying to prove himself not long ago.

At the teleport gate, Gigastorm locks onto Megatron's wavelength and activates the machine. Three units pop out of the side of the ship, float into the sky and open up a triangular interdimensional doorway. Through it, something big, horrible and most certainly not Megatron falls throug, nearly crushing the Autorollers in the process. Galvatron smacks his brother, Gigastorm, for screwing up the coordinates and demands Hellscream find out what that thing is. Galvatron's mood changes when he learns that its the great Majin Zarak. Majin Zarak transforms into a gigantic holy crap gonna kill you monster and Galvatron takes command of his control unit (an old fashioned nautical stearing wheel, oddly). After thanking Lio Junior via video phone for providing him with a weapon superior to Megatron, he uses Majin Zarak to destroy a gigantic iceberg and then transforms him to aircraft carrier mode.

At the Yukikaze, their sensors discover the legendary Majin Zarak, much to everyone's horror. Lio Convoy orders them to attack, anyway. They arrive, only to find that Majin Zarak's aircraft carrier mode can also move over land. The Maximals attack in a small craft, but are quickly swatted away by Zarak's superior firepower. They decide to land and attack fromthe ground.

On the Galvaburg II, Lio Junior breaks out of his cell and escapes. Thrustor and Diregun give chase, but luckily for Junior, Skywarp and Santon arrive to even the odds and fight them off. Skywarp invites Junior to help in the battle against Zarak, but Junior says there's a place they must go, first. Skywarp suggests they all go as one and the three of them fuse into Magnaboss. He gets blasted in the chest by the retreating Thurstor, though, and is forced to march to the alien ship with a bad injury. With his last ounce of strength, Magnaboss uses his own power source to charge the teleport gate and summons a mysterious figure.

Back at the canyon, the Maximals fight their way past the Autorollers, Hellscream and Max B, but are still overwhelmed by Majin Zarak's power. Lio Convoy makes it onto the carrier and sends Gigastorm flying away with his Lio Typhoon. Galvatron's decided he's had enough and transforms Majin Zarak into his frickin' Godzilla mode. Zarak then uses the three cannons on his back to destroy a whole mountain range and scatter the Maximals. Galvatron thinks he's won, but he suddenly receives a Maximal text message: "You think you've won, but we won't be defeated. Let us settle this. Come to point B-2. -Convoy"

Buried beneath tons of rock, Lio Convoy hears a familiar voice urging him to fight on. He explains that he was summoned by Magnaboss, a selfless warrior who used his own power to bring him here. Lio Convoy is sorry he underestimated Magnaboss (and by extension, Lio Junior) and asks who the mysterious warrior is. They shake hands and in a blast of light, the tons of rock are cleared. Magnaboss greets Lio Convoy and tells him he's rescued the other Maximals. He then introduces them to...wait for it...wait for it...

Optimus Primal!

The "legendary General Commander" swears to help the injured Maximals win at all costs. Lio Convoy decides that while he, Primal and Bighorn attack Majin Zarak, Scuba, Apache and the rest will try and find his weak point. Magnaboss wants to fight, but Lio Convoy says he's too injured. Once again, Tasmania Kid convinces him to let the brat fight. The Insectrons then report that Majin Zarak is headed for point B-2, a narrow canyon where his bulky body will be useless. The Maximals then rally for their final battle.

At point B-2, Primal and Convoy confront Galvatron, much to his surprise to see the two warriors standing together. Galvatron attempts to rush the leaders, but with Tasmania Kid's power source channeling into him, Magnaboss is strong enough to pick the aircraft carrier up and hurl it onto its side. The blow knocks Galvatron out of the ship, but he's rescued by Gigastorm, who carries him off in his hovercraft mode.

Suddenly, Majin Zarak transforms on his own. Turns out, he's alive! Majin Zarak appears invincible until Diver chimes in, having just discovered his weak spot. The third eye on his forehead is where all his nerve centers are clustered. A direct hit will destroy him, just like in a video game!

Hearing this, Optimus Primal and Lio Convoy synchronize their Energon Matrices and upgrade into Flash Lio Convoy and Burning Convoy. Burning Convoy transforms to monkey mode and rides atop Flash Lio Convoy's lion mode. They then leap into Zarak's face and Burning Convoy lands a mighty punch into his third eye. Flying away, they then combine the power of the Energon Matrices into the "Double Matrix Blaster", destroy his eye and blow him to smithereens.

The battle won, they return to the teleport gate. Lio Junior begs Primal to stay, but he reminds them that he still has to win the Beast Wars on planet Energoa. Besides, he says, their army is fine just the way it is. Apache interjects and says that, after some research, he's concluded that because the device plays havoc with time and space, it could conceivable destroy the universe, hence why whoever built it sent it to Gaea to be destroyed. Optimus Primal then returns to his proper place and time and the Maximals destroy the gate behind him.
Which Megatron?
Technically speaking, it is unclear just which "Megatron" Galvatron and his crew intended to summon across time and space: Generation 1 Megatron or Beast Wars Megatron.

At the time the movie was released, a Beast Wars II toy catalog (see right) showed Galvatron and Beast Wars Megatron as rivals on their home planet of Cybertron, meaning the characters from Beast Wars and Beast Wars II hailed from the same "home era" despite their respective time-travel escapades. This would make the idea of Galvatron requesting Megatron as "the greatest and most vicious Transformer in history" seem unlikely, but it is unknown if the film writers were aware of the backstory presented in the catalog—or, even if they did, whether they would have cared, as the film only has as much plot as any given Dragon Ball Z movie.

In any event, given that the Beast Wars II Maximals venerated Optimus Primal as a "Legendary Supreme Commander" in the film despite his meager rank as a starship captain, Occam's razor suggests Beast Wars Megatron as Galvatron's most likely target, as he provides a better parallel to the eventual appearance of Optimus Primal in the film itself.

For a different take on events, the history of the Beast Wars II characters was retconned many years later by a timeline published as part of the Kiss Players franchise; this chronicle ignored the catalog and indicated that the Beast Wars II characters came from "tens of thousands of years" in the future, arguably (although likely) erasing Galvatron and Beast Wars Megatron's history together. This is further complicated again when the IDW comics portray Galvatron's mission to Gaea as preceding the Beast Wars.
Skywarp, the Coward Starscream, is a Starscream clone embodying the original Starscream's cowardly side. He doesn't want to fight. He bruises easily! He has a doctor's appointment! Do you have any idea just how dangerous fighting is?! Surprisingly, at the start of the battle Skywarp charged in without a look of terror on his face and even took a shot at Megatron. Skywarp's personal hell only continued on the other side of the space bridge. He was trapped in glue on some desolate planetoid with Blurr and Thundercracker, and the substance was seeping into his circuitry! Even worse, Blurr's idea to get out of the glue was to release short wave sonic pulses, which Thundercracker did, causing an explosion. He could have been hurt! Fortunately, he wasn't. There's a nuclear bomb coming to blow up a city as Prime and Megatron trade blows and viewpoints, and somebody has to fly up and stop it! Haven't we been here before?

Synopsis
In New York City, the Autobots and Decepticons continue to battle. Sideswipe swats Kickback with a broken street light, wanting to avenge Sunstreaker's death. Suddenly, Bombshell surprises him and reveals that he was the one responsible for Sunstreaker's actions by toying with the mind of his former Headmaster partner, Hunter O'Nion. Before Bombshell can kill Sideswipe, though, Kup punches him in the face. However, he, too, gets taken by surprise by Skywarp. Skywarp is incredulous about Kup's presence, since he had heard that Kup had gone crazy. Kup, insulted by Skywarp's "scrap heap" joke, fires at his chest, and falls near the Statue of Liberty, where Omega Supreme and Devastator struggle. Devastator claims that nothing can stop him, but Omega proves otherwise by blasting straight through his chest (along with Lady Liberty), and Devastator falls into the ocean.

At Central Park, Sparkplug Witwicky, Colonel Hawke, and the remaining army troops fire at Dropshot, but without success. Sparkplug orders Hawke to leave, with the European Union plane (secretly the Decepticon Tankor) heading its way to drop the nuke at the city. Hawke protests, but Sparkplug persists, saying that he might lose his son, and that he doesn't want any of his men to join him. Meanwhile, Spike and his "team" make it to the rooftop of a building and stay low, witnessing two of the large robots begin their duel. Armed with the secret weapon he stole, Spike decides to target the silver one. Bridge asks Spike if the other one is on their side, and Spike replies that he hopes so, considering how big it is.

Optimus Prime and Megatron continue to grapple, Megatron relentlessly questioning Prime on why he cares about the humans after they've tortured an Autobot and put plans in motion to kill millions of their own people in a nuclear strike against the Transformers. Prime retorts that it's not only about protecting the humans; it's about also about the difference between himself and Megatron – what makes one a Decepticon and one an Autobot.

In Central Park, Sparkplug fires a bazooka at Dropshot, who briefly staggers. Enraged and hurt, Dropshot declares that after having been stuck spying on the humans for so long, there's nothing that can stop him from tearing them all apart now. But in a silent, ironic counterpoint, Kup emerges from the water behind him.

Meanwhile, Prime and Megatron continue to exchange blows, but Megatron gets the upper hand by head-butting Prime and throwing him into a building. Megatron stands over Prime and tells him he respects him for his contined struggle. Nevertheless, Megatron orders Tankor to proceed with the bombing, and Tankor, shedding his European Union disguise, obliges. Bridge tells Spike to shoot fast, but Spike can only wait for it to charge up. Megatron orders the Decepticons to leave, but Blitzwing bemoans the loss of the space bridge and the city. Megatron replies that the Decepticons have other planets, and starting again is a price worth paying for the death of the Autobots alongside the humans. Bridge warns Spike that the Decepticons are about to flee, and Spike at last pulls the trigger.

Just as Megatron is telling Prime that he's going to take the Matrix with him, the blast from Spike's gun hits him square in the face. Seizing the opportunity, Prime grabs Megatron's fusion cannon off the ground and smashes it hard against Megatron's head. Megatron, crackling with electricity, falls to the ground, defeated and broken. The Autobots begin to celebrate, but as Optimus advances towards Megatron, a voice stops him; it's Starscream! Optimus asks him what he's doing, and Starscream replies that he is fulfilling his role as a Seeker by "protecting the leader of the Decepticon Empire." Prime tells Starscream that this isn't like him; he could leave Megatron and assume leadership of the Decepticons himself. But Starscream, repeating what Megatron had told him, says that leadership must be taken, not magically given by chance, which Prime would never understand.

Optimus asks Starscream if he's running, to which he replies that he's merely done playing. He claims the Decepticons outnumber the Autobots across the galaxy, the Autobot army is in tatters, and the Decepticons are victorious. Prolonging the battle would gain them nothing, and the Autobots wouldn't waste their time pursuing them when there's a nuclear bomb on the way. As the Decepticons lift off, the Autobots ponder how to stop the bomb. They realize that someone needs to fly up to it, and they're shocked to hear Thundercracker volunteer.

Thundercracker declares that none of the Autobots can fly in robot mode, and when Optimus brings up Omega Supreme, Thundercracker dismisses him as lacking the necessary finesse. Ironhide asks why a Decepticon would help, and Thundercracker explains that there is no honor in the bomb. Drift, a former Decepticon, tries to welcome Thundercracker into the Autobot ranks, but Thundercracker swats his offered hand aside, refusing to speak to a traitor. Thundercracker says that the humans were unworthy adversaries, that the Decepticons are creatures of combat, not slaughter, and that all of their actions on Earth have been dishonorable. With that, Thundercracker takes off and grabs the nuclear weapon as it falls, then flies it into space and fires at it, detonating it safely.

The Autobots finally celebrate their victory, and Hound introduces Prime to the mystery sniper, Spike Witwicky. Prime praises Spike's remarkable skills, but Spike passes the credit to his "remarkable weapon." In Central Park, Sparkplug and Kup have a chat about outer space and Kup's "cigar" while sitting on the fallen body of Dropshot. Meanwhile, Thundercracker is en route to join the Decepticons when Skywarp teleports behind him and accuses him of betrayal. Thundercracker tries to tell Skywarp that Megatron had lost his way, but the furious Skywarp shoots him point-blank in the face.

Optimus Prime tells Spike that his people are free, but they must rebuild and recover. He says that the humans will need leaders like Spike and his comrades, heroes they can turn to in desperate times. The Autobots had traveled from their homeworld of Cybertron to free the humans from the Decepticons' tyranny, and Prime offers whatever help he and the Autobots can give. Spike, while professing appreciation, says that he doesn't think humanity is going to accept them, given that the Transformers had brought their own war to Earth. As Spike declares the impossibility of a "union" between humans and Autobots, Sideswipe puts deed to word in Bombshell's lab: Stricken with horror at the sight of Hunter O'Nion's ravaged physical state, Sideswipe turns off the machines supporting his tortured life.
Notes
* While it has been obliquely hinted at before, Kup's brush with insanity is finally acknowledged directly, though not in a way that actually addresses the disconnect.
* Omega Supreme barely held his own against Monstructor, the first IDWverse combiner in "Spotlight: Optimus Prime". However, in this issue, he easily defeats Devastator, who barely puts up much of a fight. This could indicate that perfecting Jhiaxus's gestalt technology had the drawback of a weaker gestalt. Another possibility is that Omega was improperly energized during his fight with Monstructor, but had time to recharge himself to maximum capacity before leaving his asteroid to respond to Hot Rod's distress call.
* The Statue of Liberty has been the site of battle and defacement in the Transformers multiverse, but this is the first time it's been massively damaged — and certainly never before by an Autobot. Even in Galvatron's dystopian future, it looked fine from a distance. Damn, Omega.
* Octane, like his Universe toy, now goes by the name of Tankor. Poor guy.
* It was previously established that Spike's weapon was reverse-engineered from Shockwave's gun-arm. Its use in felling Megatron is therefore loaded with thematic significance, given the intense rivalry between the two Decepticon leaders in previous comic series.
* All Hail Megatron has relied heavily on characters' original bios for their portrayals: Mirage's questionable loyalty, Sunstreaker's cold-bloodedness, Skywarp's simple-minded reliance upon Megatron, etc. But Thundercracker's "betrayal" has less to do with his original bio (which establishes him as unsure of the Decepticon cause but able to be convinced by his fellows) than it does his Machine Wars bio (which describes his sense of the Decepticon cause as actually stronger than his loyalty to any individual).
* Meanwhile, Skywarp's devotion to Megatron and execution of Thundercracker, while consistent with his bio, is surprising within this continuity, since he has gone against Megatron on several occasions: He was among those who went rogue in the initial infiltration operation, he met secretly with Ramjet and humored his treacherous plans, and he kept mum while Astrotrain and Blitzwing covertly revived Starscream in response to Megatron employing the unpredictably dangerous Sixshot.
* Sideswipe's choice to pull the plug on Hunter is rather unilateral (though, assuming "Hail and Farewell" is fully noncanonical and Hunter has no surviving relatives, Sideswipe could qualify as his next of kin), not to mention callous, especially given his earlier harangue about the "sanctity of life, all life". Perhaps more significantly, Hunter's death poignantly manifests McCarthy's rejection of Simon Furman's intent. Furman had introduced the world of the Transformers through Hunter's eyes, put him through the initial paces of an archetypal heroic journey, and forecasted his future adventures in the aforementioned Mosaic story. But McCarthy's tale cuts that mythic development short and negates Hunter's anticipated future, using him instead as a plot device and emotional endnote. Thereby proving that he really does respect everything Simon Furman has ever done and wouldn't piss all over his work.
* This issue was released on the same day as the American release of Revenge of the Fallen.
* The Decepticomments section describes the Coda issues and provides art from some of the covers.

Errors
* In the description of the Coda issues, #16 has Bumblebee's story as a second "Story 1" rather than "Story 2". Also, Guido Guidi is misspelled as "Guido Guido". Ok, we get it, he's Italian!
* When Prime talks to Spike on page 21, he's probably supposed to start with "Your people are free," not "Our people".

I wonder if the continuity Errors in the Sunstreaker story are actually down to Sunstreaker being an arrogant, delusional jerk? It is all from Sunstreaker's POV, after all. I admit, at first I thought it was another of Shane McCarthy's gleeful promotions of previously competent bots to superhero levels, but the Hunter@Machination dialogue in particular struck me as Sunstreaker deluding himself and rewriting the past to suit his arrogance. Could this section be rebadged as "items of note" instead? (Danforth from the IDW forum)
:That may be the best solution, but without any evidence to support the idea of this being Sunstreaker's delusions, it's all pure speculation, and we try to avoid that here. In fact, I'm going to comment-hide that sentence for now. The only reason I won't outright delete it is that if someone at IDW ever confirms that this issue is, indeed, Sunstreaker's delusional POV, we can restore the sentence with its counterpoint that said twist is never made clear.--Apcog 19:11, 26 August 2009 (EDT)
I know why it's been done, but considering that the much more likely search is The Rebirth, wouldn't redirecting to the trilogy make more sense User:Eire 18.19 Aug 21 09 (UTC)
I reject the idea that the generics include Side Burn, Roulette, and Bulkhead. If they're intended homages, they're altered enough to the point where it doesn't matter anymore. (People DO remember that Side Burn, like, has a big monocle eye, right?) --ItsWalky 08:50, 1 September 2009 (EDT)
I think "Sideburn" is the only one you can make a case for, but it'd be nice if we could get some confirmation from either Josh or Emiliano... --Nu-Priest 08:58, 1 September 2009 (EDT)
Machination?
I was just wondering, was it ever called the Machination in this issue? I ask because Continuum confuses Skywatch and Machination and all. I wonder if the two organizations are confused in this issue also. It makes the plot holes make a little more sense. It would answer the question "why would Scorponok require them to gather 'data' if he is already familiar with Cybertronian anatomy?" - Starfield 23:13, 15 November 2009 (EST)
:Nope, it was not... But Machination was explicitly stated in other McCarthy-penned issues. --Detour 23:30, 15 November 2009 (EST)
::Not to mention is was also explicit that Sunstreaker's head was kept in a Machination base and he was worked on by Machination scientists in all the other series.

The Autobots return to Earth to save it from the Decepticons.

Synopsis
In an abandoned building, Cmd. Spike Witwicky warns Bridge, Sarah and Charles that he seriously doesn't need their help, but the three came this far and want to help him, anyways. Bridge says that with the European Union about to drop their nukes, they want to go out either way by helping Spike with the defeat of the giant robots. Spike agrees on their help, and move out of the building, just as European jets fire upon Devastator.

While fending off the invaders, Starscream tells Megatron that this seemed a little convenient. Megatron replies that this is the humans' last ditch effort to destroy them, and he knew all along. He goes on to say that everything in the beginning was planned with meticulous effort. When the Great War started, Megatron needed an army ruthless enough to overthrow a planet. With the rise of the Autobots, the Decepticons had to be much more - a ruthless machine capable of winning at any cost. Their goal? Defeat the Autobots, no matter what.

Once they were defeated, Megatron would killed what he created to eliminate his enemies in the first place. Once they were remolded and recreated into what Megatron originally intended, the Decepticons's reign would begin, with no in-fighting and no dissent, but perfectly controlled peace through unparalleled space, and that nothing comes as a surprise to him. Suddenly, a barrage of laser fire from the sky hits them. Megatron looks up and does not like what he sees... the Autobots arrive and begin attacking the Decepticons.

This was something Megatron never planned, and he thinks that the Autobots are trying to overwhelm them with the size of their army. He then proceeds to tell Starscream that one day, he will lead the Decepticons, and rule them as he always wanted, but it must be taken, not given. But today, Megatron leads the Decepticons, and that Starscream's time will come, and if he helps Megatron bring about a new age, then he can rule. After some consideration, Starscream gives out the orders to the Decepticons, and, looking at Megatron, cries "All Hail Megatron" before joining them.

The two sides continue fighting, but Devastator advances slowly towards the Autobots, but Optimus Prime has a plan; he orders Blaster to block the Decepticon's communications, then he orders the whole Autobots to split into two groups and they flee. Astrotrain thinks they're cowards for running, but Cliffjumper retorts that they're making room, as Omega Supreme appears and slams Devastator against several buildings. However, Optimus, fearing that the battle between the two would further damage the city, orders Omega to take their battle elsewhere. Omega obeys, grabs Devastator in a bearhug, and takes off.

In Central Park, "Sparkplug" Witwicky and Colonel Hawke see the two fly off. Hawke thinks that the one flying is one of the good guys, that the radio interference has been cleared and that the "rocket ship" that appeared had more robots, but ones that would help the army. Witwicky says that it doesn't make any sense, and orders the evac to continue. When Hawke protests, Witwicky says that the appearance of more robots changes nothing. With an EU plane carrying a nuclear bomb (one in which they had no control over) on the way, they need to continue evacuation and move to a safe distance from the blast. He also doesn't know where the new robots came from, but he thinks that they could come after the humans just like the others.

Roadbuster tackles Astrotrain, but gets shot down by Megatron. Suddenly, Optimus Prime calls out Megatron and the two come face to face again. Megatron asks Prime how he survived and returned to Earth, then thinks that Prime came back for the Matrix of Leadership only, not caring about the planet, and asks why he would risk the lives of his soldiers to return. Prime angrily tells Megatron to leave Earth and its people alone, but Megatron asks why he suddenly cared about Earth, to which he once abandoned. To him, this isn't like Optimus to accept losses of his soldiers. Prime says that everyone differs in all regards and that he'll no longer start a war that destroys innocent races, ancient cultures and civilizations. Megatron says that Prime's newly-found conscience was bad timing, and that the "innocent" race he wanted to protect are about to kill millions of their kind to destroy them. Prime doesn't believe him, but Megatron retorts that the EU plane carrying the nuke is heading their way. The humans think that the Decepticons can't control it, but they're wrong, and once Megatron finishes Prime off, he'll use it to kill every single human.

The evac continues, but one soldier has trouble moving his rocket system tank. Suddenly, it transforms into a Decepticon and proceeds to fire upon the soldiers. Hawke says that the alien robots had been playing them all along and that they didn't know about it until now. A very angry "Sparkplug" Witwicky believes that the aliens can be anything and they can't ever tell which is which, then believes that they're hiding something else. Little does he know that the EU plane is actually a Decepticon...
"Oh, shut up."
:-Optimus Prime gets silenced from saying his catchphrase.

Errors
* When Dropshot reveals himself and starts destroying stuff, Hawke mistakenly gets a word bubble clearly meant for Colonel Witwicky. ("Where else...")

* The Decepticons already have nukes and other WMDs, enough to shatter whole planets according to Stormbringer. Why would Megatron need the French's bombs?

* The Decepticons have always been this ruthless and nasty, Meggy. You should know, you raised them out of murderous pit fighters and dissidents.

Items of note
* Megatron refers to Optimus briefly pulling the Autobots away from Earth in Devastation. He forgets they came back apparently.

* The missile tank shown in All Hail Megatron issue 5 is now revealed to have been Dropshot all along. For a guy who loves to fight all the time, he sure kept quiet a long time.

* Megs sure is lucky the EU force used that specific bomber and not either a different one, more than one, or a nuclear submarine.

* The theme of Autobots and Decepticons both having been twisted into something wrong and needing to change has been previously raised in #9 and Spotlight: Drift. This seems to indicate the IDW Transformers are going to stop following the infiltration/phases model and change to something <strike>closer to the 1980s</strike> more moral. How Megatron intends to change the Decepticons by having them fight humans again is not specified.
