AllSpark energy turns a junk pile into a sentient robot who tries to help the Autobots, but ends up doing more harm than good.

Summary
Garbage is piling up all over Detroit, as the trash-bots are malfunctioning and Sumdac Systems CEO Porter C. Powell refuses to repair them until the city and he can come to an agreement on payment. In Powell's office, a technician demonstrates a new form of the nanobots that caused big problems a while back, designed this time to break down garbage into its component molecules, quickly and cheaply solving the garbage problem (while allowing Powell to charge the city a hefty fee).

Elsewhere, the Autobots are trying to patch up their still-damaged reputation by helping pile garbage into scows. Ratchet ends up getting into a shouting match with an old man whose car ended up under a garbage mound, resulting in the car being dumped in the river and the two old grouches almost coming to blows. Captain Fanzone arrives to break up the scene and remarks that Ratchet needs to work on his "people skills". Prime agrees and assigns Bumblebee and Sari to try and help out Ratchet while they work more on the garbage problem. Ratchet is not happy with this.

Just before the Autobots depart, though, Sari's key glows, but she quickly disregards this, and so she misses the emergence of a junk-robot from the scow, brought to life by an AllSpark shard. The confused machine tries to figure out his identity using the scraps around him, but is unsatisfied with the results. Spying a passing blimp with a sign for the Detroit police department with the slogan "We're Here to Help", the robot happily goes about trying to find some police for some help with his identity.

At the Decepticon base, Lugnut detects a surge in AllSpark energy, and Megatron concludes that another fragment must have turned up. Megatron orders Lugnut to retrieve it, and Lugnut continues his glory-spouting as he leaves. Megatron's optical sensor begins to twitch noticeably.

Stuck in a traffic jam, Ratchet is about to display some serious road rage when Bumblebee puts on his siren and clears a path for them. Heading through, they a find a familiar couple who are expecting a child, but their car has broken down on the way to the hospital. Ratchet agrees to take them to the hospital, then jets off at high speed, despite Sari's warning to keep the mother calm.

Meanwhile, the new robot is walking through downtown Detroit, nearly causing several accidents. The police, pursuing the Angry Archer, crash into the robot, who subsequently asks them for help. Archer tells the robot to throw them aside so that they can escape, and the robot agrees. When Archer inquires as to his identity, the robot responds that he is "worthless-wreck-walking-pile-of-garbage," (all things he had been called by citizens who nearly slammed into him) so the Archer dubs him Wreck-Gar for short. He tries to explain the that they steal from the rich and give to the poor (themselves), but Wreck-Gar gets the Archer's words confused. Seeing a passing armored car, Archer tells Wreck-Gar that they must "knock it over", so Wreck-Gar proceeds to chase the armored car and do just that.

Meanwhile, expecting mother Carly asks her husband, Spike, to ask the driver to slow down, only for Spike to learn that there is only a little girl in the carm-and no driver! Ratchet tells them to keep quiet as he tries to find a hospital, only for the armored car knocked over by Wreck-Gar to land in his way. Jettisoning the humans, Ratchet and Bumblebee try to stop Wreck-Gar, but before they can do anything, the Angry Archer snags and flees with a canister that was in the armored car. Sari points out that Autobots are supposed to catch the bad guys, and Wreck-Gar assumes that he is an Autobot, slaps on an Autobrand, and goes after the Archer. Bumblebee and Sari go after him, while Ratchet offers to drive Spike and Carly to the hospital. They say they'll take a cab, leaving Ratchet miffed at their rudeness.

Outrunning the swinging Archer, Wreck-Gar hurls him into the air so he can "catch" him, allowing the Angry Archer to escape, but the canister falls into Wreck-Gar's backpack. As the Autobots and Sari show up, her key starts to glow, and they realize that Wreck-Gar was created by an AllSpark fragment. Ratchet rudely tells Wreck-Gar that he is not an Autobot and is only good for one thing: GARBAGE! Wreck-Gar therefore transforms into his garbage truck vehicle mode and leaves to deliver garbage to the people of Detroitm-starting by covering Sari and the Autobots in a pile of it.

Meanwhile, Lugnut has reached the city, and he confronts Wreck-Gar at the military base he and Blitzwing previously visited. Lugnut demands the AllSpark fragment from the vehicle's driver, but Wreck-Gar transforms, revealing his robotic nature. When Wreck-Gar repeats Ratchet's statement that he's no Autobot, Lugnut concludes that Wreck-Gar is a loyal Decepticon, so Wreck-Gar slaps on a Decepticon symbol.

Back at the crime scene, Ratchet is removing the driver of the armored car when Powell and Fanzone show up. Powell reveals that the car was carrying the garbage-devouring microbots to a demonstration for Mayor Edsel. However, the canister carrying them is gone. Sari is more than willing to let Powell suffer, but Ratchet is concerned about what the microbots might do if infused with AllSpark energy. Tracking Wreck-Gar to the base, Ratchet demands the Microbots, only for Lugnut to transform and activate his bomb punch. Wreck-Gar interprets this as the universal greeting, and gives Lugnut a high five. Sari and the Autobots barely manage to avoid ground zero. As Lugnut transforms to attack, Wreck-Gar takes out the canister, which has cracked, allowing some of the microbots to touch Lugnut. Crying out in pain, Lugnut commands Wreck-Gar to get them off, so Wreck-Gar dissects Lugnut, causing his tail end, still carrying Wreck-Gar, to crash onto a garbage scow. Bumblebee declares their problems over, but Ratchet is worried. If those microbots could eat through Decepticon armor-plating, there's no telling what they'll do to downtown Detroit.

On the river bank, Powell arrives to cancel the presentation with the mayor, only for the group see the microbots eat the garbage on the scow. Powell quickly takes advantage of the situation to start wheeling and dealing. As the scow gets closer, Ratchet jumps from a nearby bridge to stop it. He tries to reason with Wreck-Gar, but everything fails, forcing Ratchet to make the ultimate sacrifice...and apologize. He tells Wreck-Gar he can be whatever he wants, and Wreck-Gar decides to save the city, vacuuming up the microbots. However, the microbots overload Wreck-Gar's backpack, causing him to fall into the river. Ratchet tries to pull him out with his magnets, but only finds junk. As Bumblebee and Sari declare Ratchet a hero, Powell cries foul, saying that Ratchet destroyed his product. Thus there is no deal with the city, and the garbage dispute will continue. Ratchet picks up Powell, the Mayor, and the Mayor's aide, and tells them to make peace or be thrown into the river. Powell and Edsel agree to a small increase to re-service the garbage bots, ending the dispute. Ratchet decides the cheering bystanders are lauding him, leading him to conclude that he does have people skills. Sari and Bumblebee know differently, however.

Meanwhile, at the bottom of the river, Wreck-Gar, buried shoulder-deep in sediment, assures the sea life that he is a hero and is there to help. First, however, he needs a hand. Or a fin. Maybe a pelvis?

Just before the Autobots depart, though, Sari's key glows, but she quickly disregards this...and misses the emergence of a junk-robot from the scow, brought to life by an AllSpark shard.

When Archer inquires as to his identity, the robot responds that he is "worthless-wreck-walking-pile-of-garbage," so the Archer dubs him Wreck-Gar for short.

:Terradive is a Mini-Con from the Armada portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Terradive is the thrill-seeker of the Air Military Mini-Con Team, much to his more serious-minded teammates' chagrin. His favorite tactic is to dive-bomb a target them pull up at the very last possible second. This takes a severe toll on his body (especially when he stalls or mistimes pulling up) and he's constantly having to get maintenance done to his system because of it, but the thrill, to him, is all worth it.

An alternate-universe incarnation of Terradive is partnered with the herald of Unicron Ramjet, but shares none of Terradive's personality traits... he hasn't got a personality anymore. Untold millenia of servility to the dark Transformer have left him -and his fellow Mini-Cons- little more than drones, utterly subservient to his master's will.
*Air Military Mini-Con Team (Basic, 2003)
:Japanese ID number: MM-11

: Terradive transforms into a stealth fighter somewhat similar to a Blackbird. He also has a third "weapon" mode, a triple-bladed claw best used by attaching him to a larger toy's arm via Powerlinx plug. He was normally only available in a three-pack with his teammates Gunbarrel and Thunderwing.

: This mold was also used to make Falcia, Blitz, Cybertron Shockwave and Mugen.

*Thrust w/ Air Military Micron (Multi-pack, 2003)
:Japanese ID number: MS-06

: The entire Air Military Team was packaged with Thrust and Inferno in a special Japanese multi-pack as well as the normal individual releases.

*Air Military Micron X-Dimension (Basic, 2003)
:Japanese ID number: MM-12

: For their X-Dimension redeco, the entire Air Military Team was redone in black, clear-black and white plastics, plus given a light white paint-wash. This set was released at normal retail, but in smaller numbers than the normal coloration.

*Unicron with Dead End (Bonus pack, 2003)

: Late in the US line, Wal-Mart stores got exclusive Unicron toys that came with the Air Military Team in a bubble attached to the top of the box. This set was sold for the normal retail price of Unicron... hey, free Mini-Cons!

Universe
*Ramjet w/ Thunderclash, Gunbarrel, Thunderwing, & Terradive (Multi-pack, 2004)

: Available as part of a Toys "R" Us exclusive "Spring Value Pack" with his master Ramjet, this version of Thunderwing was redecoed in mostly darker shades of his original colors, though his entuire cockpit area was painted orange, the most immediately-noticeable difference. This set also came with redecoes of the Mini-Cons Thunderclash, Gunbarrel and Thunderwing.

*Stockade & Magna Stampede with Prowl & Terradive (Ultra, 2004)

: Terradive was redecoed again in Universe, this time for normal retail release, in an Ultra-level multi-pack with Stockade, Magna Stampede and the Mini-Con Prowl. It's worth noting that the packaging for this toy lists both Mini-Cons as Autobots.

Trivia
* The packaging for the Toys "R" Us Ramjet sets shows an air Military Team in very different colors. Terradive ended up primarily white with medium blue accents, possibly a reference to the Generation 2 Cyberjet version of Jetfire.

Filthy both physically and verbally, Dirt Boss intentionally skips maintenance checkups to keep his engine loud and misfiring, despite the risks this poses to him. Foul-mouthed and foul-smelling, he enjoys shocking and annoying those around him. Few can stand to be around him for any length of time; even his Race Mini-Con Team allies, who are likely the only ones who willingly spend any time with him at all, occasionally need to just get away.

And yet, Dirt Boss might actually be the smartest of the team, with extensive knowledge of high-level physics and entropy studies. Not that he ever really looks for a useful application for this information... but it certainly does give some insight into his attitude.
Dirt Boss was sent to Velocitron under the "protection" of Red Alert, in order to split the Road Assault Team up to make it harder for Megatron to steal the entire Team and re-assemble the Skyboom shield.

Meanwhile, an alternate-universe version of Dirt Boss fell through a rip in space-time and landed on Earth. He was found by Landmine, who took the grimy Mini-Con under his wing. They probably get along great together.
He also unfolds to form the middle portion of the Skyboom shield with his teammates Downshift and Mirage. He was normally only available as part of the complete Race Mini-Con Team set. The complete Team was also included as bonus add-ons with the Max-Cons Scavenger and Predacon (though what retail chain offered these is unknown at this time).
: Part of the first Micron Booster set, this version of Dirt Boss is almost totally identical to the retail version, only this uses a slightly-sparkly plastic and paint. Whoopee.

*Drift (Change Micron, 2003)

: Another nigh-identical Japanese release, this version came as a "candy toy" produced by Kabaya as part of the Change Micron assortment. This toy is actually a new molding, though based on the original mold.

: A late-series redeco of the Race Team --under a new Team name-- was released alongside the Road Wrecker Team. In Japan, individually-bagged members of this Team were given away randomly with the purchase of Armada Jetfire or Tidal Wave at Ito Yokaido stores in August.
: The entire Race Team was made available as individual Tiny Tins releases under the Universe banner. The toys in this release are identical to the original Armada ones.

: A new redeco of Dirt Boss with a Tiny Tin carrying mini-case was packed in special Wal-Mart exclusive sets. Dirt Boss was packaged with both Red Alert and Landmine.

Trivia
* Hasbro copy writer Forest Lee confirms that the Cybertron Tiny Tins exclusives were originally planned with two different Race Team decos in mind, hence the backstory involving one version of the Team being from an alternate universe and the Tins' decos showing the Mini-Cons in silhouette rather than the normal full-color images. He could not confirm what the then-chosen decos were, however, but it seems likely they were re-packs of the two schemes from Armada, given the use of "Road Assault Team".

* The Race Team are the only one of the three "legendary Mini-Con weapons" Teams to be released in all three chapters of the Unicron Trilogy.

Starscream is easily as accomplished, powerful and deserving of leadership as Megatron. At least, that's what he thinks. Power-hungry and driven by jealousy, Starscream operates through three ideals: lying, manipulation and deception. And when all else fails, a bit of sabotage never goes astray. Wise bots are careful about turning their backs on Starscream, just in case it's the day he finally decides to shove in the knife.

Though not nearly as powerful as Megatron (despite what he thinks of himself), Starscream is by no means a wimp. His null-rays can demolish large buildings, and he can fly around so fast that he can break free of Ratchet's magnetic powers.

He's very fond of villainous speeches. You really don't want to interrupt him in the middle of one of those.

:Voice actor: Tom Kenny (English), Stefan Staudinger (German)

Like others of his kind, Starscream seeks to betray Megatron and take over leadership of the Decepticons. This time, however, he's not afraid to plant bombs on his mighty leader. In the aftermath of the explosion, Starscream got so caught up in his own greatness that he didn't notice that his comrades abandoned him on a ship hurtling towards an exploding space bridge.

Over the next fifty solar cycles, Starscream searched for the AllSpark on his own, using the damaged ship as a base (and probably getting a few screws loose in his central processor). He later discovered that the AllSpark was on Earth and adopted a jet fighter as an alternate mode to search for it. When he revealed himself to the Autobots, he quickly thrashed each of them individually. Starscream mocked them, apparently assuming that the Autobots thought they had really defeated Megatron (whom he referred to as "the great Megatron" without sarcasm, so he seems to have at least a loathing respect for his leader's power). All too boastful of his cunning, Starscream boldly admitted that Megatron was already defeated by the bomb which Starscream himself had put on him. Despite being more powerful than the Autobots, Starscream failed to take the AllSpark, partially because he spent too much time gloating. Optimus Prime grabbed Starscream in midair, and they opened the AllSpark, releasing a massive wave of energy. Optimus was killed by the energy surge and subsequent fall (he got better), but Starscream's fate was unspecified. Transform and Roll Out!

After Megatron woke up, he found a tape of Starscream's confession and watched it. His reaction was typical: "STAAAAARSCREEEEAM!" Home Is Where the Spark Is

It turns out Starscream had been hiding on Earth this whole time, until he decided to reveal himself to a badly damaged Blitzwing and Lugnut, offering them help in exchange for their loyalty. It also seems that for his skill he never mastered parallel-parking, as evidenced by the wreckage of the Nemesis on Earth's moon. Lost and Found (Animated episode)

After repairing Lugnut and Blitzwing, Starscream continually had to reassert his authority over the two walking malfunctions. As Lugnut went prostrate with praise, Starscream was initially quite flattered by the hulking Decepticon's obsequity, but quickly learned that the big guy was being manipulated by an outside source. Tracking the transmission, he came to Sumdac Tower and was quite surprised to find the disembodied head of his former leader. Beginning the smug monologue to end all smug monologues, he was interrupted by the senseless heroics of the Autobot Bumblebee. Focusing his attentions on the yellow little squirt, he mistakenly assumed that Megatron was helpless, an oversight that allowed the galactic despot to control the lab's machinery and defenestrate the traitor. Even so Starscream remained fixated on Bumblebee, and thus was caught unaware when the repaired form of Megatron burst from the tower roof. Megatron Rising - Part 1

Starscream watched with interest, tossing Bumblebee around absentmindedly as Megatron trashed the Autobots. When Megatron called out his loyal Decepticons, Starscream gracefully landed on Lugnut's head, ready to return to his position as second-in-command. Megatron prepared to fire on the Autobots, but quickly lashed out and rammed the AllSpark Key into Starscream's chest, seemingly offlining the traitor, who then crumpled to the ground. Megatron Rising - Part 2

Sometime later, Starscream awoke on a barge. He found he couldn't detect any Decepticons, not even himself! Panicking, he wondered he if was dead, but recovered when he realised he was still on Earth. Furious, he managed to track down Lugnut and Blitzwing, and follow them to the Decepticon base. There he challenged Megatron and was soundly sliced, blasted and thrown off a cliff. However, he again revived, except now he had no spark! Starscream discovered he was being kept alive by an AllSpark fragment embedded in his head. Using this newfound immortality to his advantage he again, attacked Megatron...and again and again and again in a montage, each time taking a trouncing and having his corpse thrown off a cliff. Discovering another fragment, he set up a trap that would draw Megatron out and blow up both him and the city. He embedded the shard in a train engine, and as the overloading machine drew out Megatron, Blitzwing, the Elite Guard AND the Earth team, the plan seemed to be working. Unfortunately, the Autobots stopped the train, and Megatron knocked him out of the sky, sending him crashing into the midst of the Autobots. He blasted Ultra Magnus and took back his fragment, but was put into stasis lock when Optimus slipped some cuffs on him. He was last seen bound, gagged and being taken onto the Elite Guard vessel.Mission Accomplished
Sentinel took Optimus and Elita-1 on a mission looking for an old Decepticon warship, hoping to get all the energon stored within. However, they ran into a pack of massive arachnids. Sentinel tried to hold them off long enough for Optimus and Elita to escape. When he came across a ship that Optimus and Elita had found, Optimus had to drag him away from the exploding energon, forcing them to leave Elita-1 behind. Optimus's radar couldn't find Elita's energy signature, and he assumed that she was dead. Years later, he was still a jerk.

Later, the Elite Guard visited Earth to reclaim the AllSpark. When Jazz decided to take a closer look at the humans, Sentinel warned that organics could spew out slime that melts through armor plating, deliberately goading Optimus Prime with memories of Elita One's fate. He decontaminated Optimus Prime's crew after setting a force field around the ship. When he heard that they'd defeated the Decepticons, he didn't believe Optimus, almost causing a fight between him and Bulkhead. Sentinel boasted to Ultra Magnus that he had taken the initiative and scanned some "typical" Earth vehicles so they would not draw undue attention. He had, in fact, scanned massive, destructive vehicles for them both.

En route to Dinobot Island, Sentinel further evidenced how subtlety obviously isn't his strong point by driving through a blockade and off an overpass still under construction. When he, Optimus and Magnus arrived, they encountered the Dinobots, and Sentinel began to attack, believing their technology was primitive. Grimlock's subsequent transformation caught him off guard. They then went back to the city to take care of malfunctioning police drones. Sentinel started to act like a jerk again, more worried about organic contamination, and vowed to see Optimus arraigned on charges of high treason, but Optimus finally told Sentinel off, saying to his former friend that Sentinel was on his turf now. Even when shown proof of the AllSpark not being destroyed, Sentinel's attitude did not change. He was thus rather surprised when Ultra Magnus said that Optimus had characteristics that Sentinel himself could stand to learn.

Not taking the criticism to heart at all, he continued to be a general jerk to Optimus, the local police, humans, and pretty much everyone. His comeuppance would soon come in the form of a humiliating body-jacking by the Headmaster. Putting his reputation (and his noggin) in Optimus Prime's hands, he trusted his comrade to help him get his body back without letting anybody else find out. In this state he was slightly less condescending to Optimus, but it was hard to talk down to someone when reduced to 1/10th his size. He still had choice words about Optimus' practices in the process of saving his body however, such as ripping its arm off and using his head as a soccer ball. Deep down, Optimus was enjoying himself.

After recovering his body, Sentinel had to face the embarrassing prospect of reporting to Ultra Magnus, but surprisingly enough, Optimus covered for him. It took every ounce of effort for the big guy to utter a "thank you" to his comrade later.

While in the Headmaster's possession, Sentinel's body's weapons were upgraded into more powerful forms. At the moment it's not clear whether Sentinel got to keep the upgrades when the Headmaster Unit was separated or not.
The Return of the Headmaster

Mission Accomplished

Unfortunately, the whole Headmaster debacle still failed to purge Sentinel of even a dram of his jerk quotient. When Optimus protested Ultra Magnus's decision to have his crew join the rest of the Autobots off-Earth, Sentinel was quick to jump on Optimus, saying that no sign of Decepticon activity had been detected (failing to consider that they'd been dampening their signals). He even went so far as to bribe Optimus with an offer of reinstatement in the Elite Guard if he went along with the official story. Through all this, he was more than slightly keen to slap stasis cuffs on Optimus in order to get him to comply with Magnus's orders.

When Starscream's AllSpark fragment trap was detected by the Elite Guard's ship, Sentinel was irritated to find that he had to stay behind and nursemaid Maintenance Prime while Ultra Magnus and Jazz set off to investigate. The situation got worse when, discovering Decepticon presence, Optimus goaded Sentinel into a blind attack, and took the opportunity to slap the stasis cuffs on him. Poor sap...{snicker}

Sentinel eventually worked his way out of the cuffs and pursued Optimus to where the AllSparked train had stopped, threatening to have him tried and blacklisted for assaulting an Elite Guard, dismissing out of hand Optimus's justification of Decepticon involvement. Fortunately for Optimus, Megatron and Blitzwing chose that moment to blast Starscream to the ground in front of them. Sentinel had to take more time than the other Elite Guards to rally—unlike Magnus and Optimus, he had never seen a Decepticon before. Initial dismay aside, Sentinel did manage to last longer than the other Autobots against Starscream's onslaught, but the only reason he didn't fall was that Optimus took the stasis cuffs he had brought with him (anticipating Optimus's formal arrest as he was) and slapped them onto Starscream. Sentinel still thinks Optimus drew that out on purpose.

Afterwards, Magnus expressed admiration over Optimus's willingness to disregard what were clearly ill-informed orders—praise that Sentinel, predictably, objected to. This just earned him another chastisement from Magnus about how sometimes the right thing was to trust one's gut over the book. Shortly afterwards, the Elite Guard departed for Cybertron. Sentinel could probably sigh in relief—no more looking worse than the "washout". Mission Accomplished
* Sentinel Prime's blue coloration and especially pronounced chin (even by normal Animated standards!) really make him look like The Tick. He's even voiced by Townsend Coleman, who provided the voice of the Tick in his 1990s animated series. At the Cartoon Network panel at BotCon 2008, it was confirmed that Sentinel's design was created after Coleman was cast for the role. It's pretty evident that the writers are running with it, having him utter silly, Tick-esque lines like "Energon-y goodness!"
* Sentinel Prime's shield-tossing fighting style is a fairly direct reference to Captain America. Far more coincidentally, one of Captain America's many sobriquets is the "Sentinel of Liberty".
* In "The Elite Guard", it is revealed that the "Prime" in his and Optimus's name is a designation of rank, so despite Optimus being an academy washout, he's still Sentinel's equal. This no doubt irritates Sentinel quite a bit.
* This is the first time the name "Sentinel Prime" has been used outside the comics.
* Sentinel Prime's blue coloration and especially pronounced chin (even by normal Animated standards!) really make him look like The Tick. He's even voiced by Townsend Coleman, who provided the voice of the Tick in his 1990s animated series. At present, we don't know if the character was designed to look like the Tick and the casting was done based on that, or if the casting of Coleman prompted the Tick-style design, or some other combination of factors, but it's pretty evident that the writers are working with it, having him utter silly, Tick-esque lines like "Energon-y goodness!"
* If he doesn't get a toy, there will be much sadness.

Sentinel Prime is a member of the Cybertron Elite Guard under the command of Ultra Magnus. Sentinel has a history of rivalry with Optimus Prime, who attended the Autobot Academy with him. In his academy days, he was somewhat of a maverick, leading the more responsible Optimus to refer to him as a "walking malfunction." Of course, he's the one that ended up on the Elite Guard while Optimus was sent off to repair space bridges, of which fact he's all too fond of reminding his former classmate.
All things considered, he's kind of a jerk.

His alt-mode is a snow plow truck. He possesses an arm-mounted shield which can be expanded into a force-field, as well as tossed about as a weapon.
Sentinel Prime took Optimus and Elita-1 on a mission looking for an old Decepticon warship, hoping to get all the energon stored within. However, they ran into a pack of massive arachnids. Sentinel Prime tried to hold them off long enough for Optimus and Elita to escape. When he came across a ship that Optimus and Elita had found, Optimus had to drag him away from the exploding energon, forcing them to leave Elita-1 behind. Optimus Prime's radar couldn't find Elita's energy signature, and he assumed that she was dead. A furious Sentinel blamed Optimus Prime for what happened, even though this whole disaster had been his idea. Jerk. Along Came a Spider

Years later, he was still a jerk. When Optimus Prime rang up the Cybertron Elite Guard to tell them of the Decepticons in pursuit, he sneered that a screw-up like Optimus wasn't worth the attention of Ultra Magnus. Piping through a visual of the AllSpark from the cargo hold of the Ark shut him up quickly enough. Transform and Roll Out!

The Elite Guard

Later, the Elite Guard visited Earth to take the Allspark. When Jazz decided to take a closer look at the humans, Sentinel warned that they could spew out slime that melts through armor plating, deliberately goading Optimus Prime with memories Elita One's fate.

Grimlock's subsequent transformation caught him off-guard. They then went back to the city to take care of malfunctioning police drones. Sentinel started to act all high and mighty again, but Optimus ignored it, saying that Sentinel was on his turf now. Even when shown proof of the AllSpark not being destroyed, Sentinel's attitude did not change. He was thus rather surprised when Ultra Magnus said that Optimus had characteristics that Sentinel himself could stand to learn.

Ha ha. The Elite Guard
Tailgate is an Autobot scout, not so much for his skill (for he is mediocre at best) but for two unrelated reasons. First, his hood conceals a ridiculously powerful iron-cobalt magnet, which he can use to tailgate closely beside other vehicles and travel far into enemy territory without fuel. Second, his bizarre idees fixees make him extremely poor company for other Autobots.

Nobody knows where Tailgate got his screws knocked loose. Some say he was traumatized in a hazing ritual that went terribly wrong; others think it's simply the length of the war taking its toll. At any rate, he began causing problems soon after arriving on Earth, proclaiming speed limits to be an affront to liberty, and attempting to liberate "enslaved" household appliances from their alleged slavemasters. Nothing the veteran Autobots could do would dissuade him from his mad quest, or convince him of non-sentient machines on Earth. Eventually, it was decided to make him a scout, with strict orders not to break cover for any reason.

Still, every time he sees a bicycle chained to a pole, his spark burns hot with righteous anger. "Some day, my brothers will wear no chains," he thinks. "Some day, we shall break free!"
