:Metalhawk is an Autobot Pretender from the Super-God Masterforce portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Metalhawk is the leader of the Autobot Pretenders. Like all great Autobot leaders, he's a warm, noble being with a great love of life, liberty and all of that, and like all those other great leaders, he also got his crew stranded on Earth when they pursued a group of Decepticons there during the Stone Age. Metalhawk was deeply moved by the burgeoning humanity: at first seeing only frail beings that needed defending, he soon came to realize their amazing potential for love, compassion and courage, and was so struck by them that he, and his fellow Autobots, used their Pretender powers to transform themselves into human beings. With the aid of these disguises, they defended early man against the Decepticon Pretenders, who had taken the forms of monsters. They eventually defeated and sealed away the villains, inspiring a few legends themselves in the process, and then went on to help guide the evolution of Earth's society and culture.

By the early 21st century, Metalhawk had adopted the simple human alias of Hawk, and now works as an astrophysicist at the observatory run by Professor Gō. He is close friends with both the professor, with whom he has entrusted the secret of his true identity, and with the professor's son Shūta, who looks up to him and aspires to be like him when he grows up.

Metalhawk transforms into a jet so fast that it can travel from Earth to the moon and back in only fifteen minutes. In robot mode, he has remarkable short-range leaping abilities, and is armed with the mighty Titanium Saber. His ultimate attack technique is the "Shining Arrow", which sees him leap into the air and charge his body with energy which he then rains down on his opponent in a hail of powerful bolts.
Having lived among humankind on Earth for epochs, Metalhawk was the natural choice to serve as protector of the planet when the Autobot forces operating in outer space received word of renewed Decepticon activity brewing on the planet from the former Decepticon, Sixshot. Unable to spare any troops to bolster Metalhawk's forces on Earth, the Autobots in space sent a cargo ship carrying six Transtectors to the planet instead, to which human beings could bond to become new Transformers themselves. Although three of the Transtectors were stolen en route by the Decepticons, Metalhawk safely received the rest, and stored them in the fortified base that Professor Gō had arranged the construction of. {{storylink|Birth!

Some time later, Metalhawk was returning to the observatory after attending one of Shūta's soccer games with Professor Gō when he received a communiqué from fellow Autobot Diver informing him of a Decepticon attack on a cruise ship. Realizing that the villains had escaped their imprisonment at last, Metalhawk knew that the time had come to fight once again. Concerned for Shūta's safety, he elected to at last reveal his true identity to the boy, and told him the full story of the Pretenders' history on Earth. The next day, news of another Decepticon attack on a city reached Metalhawk, and he at last dropped his Pretender disguise, transforming back into his robotic form again and flying to the scene in jet mode. The Tentakil Seacons which confronted him were not particularly impressive opponents, but things took a turn for the worse when Shūta, who had followed Metalhawk to the battlefield, was captured by one of the creatures. Metalhawk was able to destroy one of the drones with his Titanium Saber, but as he moved on the second, the Decepticon Pretenders entered the fray and attacked the outnumbered Autobot. Luckily, the other Autobot Pretenders arrived to save Metalhawk, allow him to rescue Shūta and destroy the Seacon, prompting the Decepticons to flee. Rise Up!! Pretenders

While investigating Decepticon activity in the Karin Islands, Metalhawk battled Dauros and a swarm of Lobclaw Seacons. The fight, however, was witnessed by the islands' prince, Cab, who fled from the Autobot, and was followed by Shūta, who hoped to explain the situation. Calmed by Shūta, Cab tracked the Decepticons to the nearby "Isle of the Gods," and Metalhawk and the Autobots followed him there and successfully dispatched the Decepticons. Unfortunately, during their absence, Blood had attacked Professor Gō's observatory, and Metalhawk's team returned too late to save the professor's life. With his last breath, the professor handed the key to the base he had created to Shūta, and the Autobots took up residence there. Terror! The Decepticons' Manhunt

Seeking to capture Professor Blanieux, the prize-winning biologist from the Republic of Mont Porte, the Decepticons attacked a jumbo jet, which crashed in Corsica. Metalhawk headed out with the Autobots to investigate, and posed as a government investigator in order to question Minerva, daughter of Mont Porte's ambassador to Japan. After learning what they could from her, Metalhawk and the Autobots sped to Rome to quell an attack by the Decepticons' Destroids there, and then accompanied Minerva's family and Professor Blanieux on the last leg of their trip to Japan. Metalhawk's suspicions proved right, as Blood and some Overbite Seacons attacked the craft, and he and Phoenix engaged them in battle and defeated them. The true threat, however, was a Destroid planted aboard the plane, which was bested by Cab and Shūta, but not before it sent the jet into a nosedive. Metalhawk and Phoenix saved the jet by lifting it to safety on their own backs. The Autobots apologized for lying to Minerva, and she decided to attend the International School alongside Cab and Shūta. Kidnapping!? The Targeted Jumbo Jet

Seeing Shūta, Cab and Minerva's determination to aid the Autobot cause and battle the Decepticons, Metalhawk made them an offer to become true Autobot warriors. The three kids accepted and were bonded to the Transtectors sent by the space-faring Autobots, becoming Headmaster Juniors. Alas, the Decepticons had created their own Headmaster Juniors with the Transtectors they had stolen, and Metalhawk had to teach the Autobot Juniors to put rescuing humans before fighting their villainous counterparts. Shūta, in particular, had some trouble living up to the promise when all three Decepticon Juniors ganged up on him when he was attempting to save a baby from a burning building, but Metalhawk arrived to dispatch the three punks. Birth! Headmaster Jrs To prepare the Juniors for combat situations, Metalhawk then sent them to America to train with Diver, {{storylink|Rage!!

When two new Decepticons, the Godmaster brothers Hydra and Buster, attacked the Mt Fuji Foothills Hang Gliding Competition Tournament in which the Autobot Headmaster Juniors were participating, Metalhawk and Lander raced to aid their young team-mates, but took a severe beating from the powerful new warriors. After the villains withdrew upon the arrival of Phoenix, Super Warriors - The Godmaster Brothers Metalhawk examined videotaped footage of the battle and realized that the two Decepticons had incredible, instantaneous healing powers, proving his suspicion that they were neither Transformer nor human, but some new kind of lifeform. This information didn't offer the Autobots much of an advantage in their next battle with the Godmasters in the Karin Islands, but during that fight, Metalhawk was able to use his Shining Arrow attack to distract Buster, allowing Diver to lodge his Sea Axe in the Decepticon's arm, forcing the brothers to retreat. A Fierce Battle!! The Autobots Are in Trouble

When Diver recruited the first Autobot Godmaster, a trucker named Ginrai, in America, Metalhawk invited him to the Autobots' base in Japan where they studied the three sets of Master-Braces Ginrai had found in his Transtector. A Strange Friendship: Cancer and Minerva After helping Minerva to reconcile her differences with Ginrai after she had an argument with him, Metalhawk joined in another battle against Hydra and Buster at Mount Yatsugatake {{storylink|Friend or Foe!?
As summer settled in, Metalhawk permitted the Headmaster Juniors to take a vacation from their duties, but the two objectives soon dovetailed with the discovery of the next Autobot Godmaster, Lightfoot. Lightfoot: A Dramatic Encounter Metalhawk and the Juniors, together with Lander, Ginrai and Lightfoot went on a camping expedition into the Rocky Mountains to search for leads on the next Godmaster, ultimately discovering that he was a forest patrolman named Ranger. An Enemy? The Third Godmaster, Ranger Metalhawk thought the final Godmaster had been found when he misinterpreted a news report on Sixknight {{storylink|A Powerful Foe!!
Soon thereafter, word came from the Autobots in space that the Decepticon super-weapon, BlackZarak, was headed for Earth. Metalhawk, Diver and Lander met with their old comrade Grand Maximus atop a mountain, and were given the plans and materials necessary to construct "Godbomber", a drone that would merge with Ginrai, endowing him with the ability to fly and fight in space, allowing him to best BlackZarak before he reached the Earth. Life? Death? Lightfoot Must Choose Metalhawk elected to keep the construction of Godbomber secret from the Headmaster Juniors at first, but once this "Bomber Project" began in a British Motors factory donated by Lightfoot's father, he soon summoned them to the facility and told them the whole story. Super Ginrai Gets Blown Away in the Desert!? The course of the Bomber Project did not run smoothly, as the Decepticons badly injured Ginrai and attacked the facility, but through it all, Metalhawk remained at the forefront of construction, speeding the project to completion while his fellow Autobots handled the Decepticon threat. Will the Bomber Project Be Destroyed!? Although Godbomber was soon successfully completed, Metalhawk was unwilling to let the injured Ginrai combine with the drone, telling him that he could not save the Earth on his own. The support of the Pretenders and Headmaster Juniors drowned Metalhawk out, however, and Ginrai fused with Godbomber, speeding into space to battle BlackZarak and Overlord. God Ginrai - Into the Sky!! Like the other Autobots, Metalhawk was helpless to do anything but wait for updates on the battle down on Earth, but with the aid of Grand Maximus, Ginrai was able to triumph. God Ginrai - Showdown on the Surface of the Moon

Subsequently, Metalhawk and his fellow took something of a back seat as Ginrai and the other Autobots battled the Decepticons across the Earth, but his wits were not dulled by this period of inactivity, and he was quick to suspect Clouder, the newly-discovered final Autobot Godmaster, when he discovered that the main computer in the Autobot base had been tampered with. Although Minerva took the blame, Metalhawk could tell she was covering for her new friend, and his suspicions were soon proved correct when he caught Clouder handing over information on the base to the Decepticon Headmaster Juniors. Unfortunately, exposing Clouder's true nature as a Decepticon spy did not prevent the information he had stolen from making its way into the hands of the Decepticons, who soon launched a full-scale assault on the Autobot base. Secret Orders! Destroy the Autobot Base!! A missile strike on the base's control room knocked Metalhawk unconscious, leaving the Headmaster Juniors alone in the base. After hooking Metalhawk up to some medical equipment, Minerva advocated abandoning the base, and ultimately, the Autobots were forced to do just that, as the Decepticons' attack destroyed their headquarters. Disaster! The Autobot Base Explodes

In the wake of this disaster, things only got worse for the Autobots, as BlackZarak returned and successfully landed on Earth. Metalhawk arrived too late to save New York from the villain's wrath, and soon received word from Diver of an attack on Paris by Overlord, relaying news of the devastation to Lightfoot. BlackZarak - Destroyer from Space The battle that ensued carried the Godmasters and Headmaster Juniors into space, where BlackZarak unleashed the unholy Death Para-Machine upon the Earth. Metalhawk was stationed in a human observatory at the time, where the staff quickly deduced that the evil device had drastically eroded Earth's ozone layer. Thankfully, Ginrai was able to destroy the Death-Para Machine before any further damage could be done. Crisis! The Day of the Downfall of Humanity

Following a battle with the Decepticon Pretenders in Latin America, God Ginrai - Save Cancer!? Metalhawk got a bit more proactive, positioning sonar probes across the world in hopes of locating the Decepticon base. Unfortunately, while on a mission to recover one of the probes, Shūta was kidnapped by the Decepticons, and Metalhawk had to triangulate the location of the Decepticon base in order for Ginrai to rescue him. God Ginrai: Showdown at the Decepticon Base With the location of the Decepticons' base now known to the Autobots, Metalhawk and the Pretenders hung back while the rest of their allies initiated an all-out attack on the villains' headquarters, which concluded with the base's destruction. {{storylink|The Ultimate Combination!!
With their headquarters destroyed, the Decepticons relocated to the Alps, and the Autobots pursued, splitting into teams to search for the villains. Metalhawk and the Headmaster Juniors were quickly attacked by King Poseidon, and Metalhawk was badly wounded saving Minerva from the Seacon combiner's blasts. Ginrai soon arrived to save them, but the injured quartet was forced to remain behind as Ginrai scaled the mountain to confront BlackZarak in final battle. {{storylink|Malevolent and Inhuman! Ginrai's fight, meanwhile, culminated with the destruction of BlackZarak and the Decepticon emperor, Devil Z. The death of Devil Z caused the humans to become separated from their Transtectors, while the Transtectors themselves were brought to life as true super-robot lifeforms. The new-born Transformers all promptly departed the Earth to rejoin their respective factions in space, but Metalhawk elected to remain on Earth and continue his life there. A Battle... and Then...
After escaping their imprisonment, the Decepticon Pretenders made their first attack on the modern world by laying siege to the Karin Islands. Metalhawk and Shūta responded to the attack, and Metalhawk stunned the assembled islanders by transforming from human form to robot mode. Easily evading Blood's "Bloody Moon" attack, Metalhawk dispatched the Decepticons with his Shining Arrow, and island elder Donq proceeded to lead the islanders in praising Metalhawk, recognizing him as a god from Karin Island mythology. Metalhawk attempted to explain that he wasn't a god, merely a Pretender, but the islanders continued to chant "Pretender" despite his protests. {{storylink|Gods? Devils? Metalhawk and Shūta were accompanied back to Japan by the islands' prince, Cab, and the two boys, along with their schoolmate Minerva, all requested that Metalhawk allow them to become formal members of the Autobots. Metalhawk eventually capitulated, and after a tough training regimen, transformed the three youngsters into Headmaster Juniors. Their first battle, against a Lobclaw, did not go so well, and Metalhawk had to arrive to bail them out, admonishing them for a lack of teamwork. Headmaster Jrs Are Born

Responding to an attack by Blood on Tokyo, Metalhawk called on the Headmaster Juniors to perform rescue operations in the surrounding area. Unfortunately, Metalhawk did not realize that this was a trap laid by the Decepticons, and his young charges ran afoul of the Decepticon Headmaster Juniors. Thankfully, they were able to defeat them, and Metalhawk arrived in time to see the punks fleeing the scene. As the sun began to rise, Shūta and Cab groaned that it would soon be time for school, but Metalhawk calmed them down by pointing out it was Sunday. Destined Confrontation: The Children of Good and Evil

News of the discovery of the first Autobot Godmaster, Ginrai, in America soon reached Metalhawk, and he and the Headmaster Juniors gathered at Harumi Wharf to greet their new comrade when he arrived. Concerned by Ginrai's late arrival, Metalhawk contacted Diver, but was assured that everything would be fine, because Ginrai resembled a "hero". The four Autobots were soon attacked by the Decepticon Godmasters Hydra and Buster and Metalhawk was quickly taken down, but at that moment, Ginrai arrived, and Metalhawk understood Diver's words—for Ginrai was the very image of the legendary Optimus Prime. After Ginrai sent Hydra and Buster packing, Metalhawk wondered if Ginrai could be Prime's reincarnation, but Ginrai dismissed the notion, explaining that he had chosen to do this specifically because he had only one life to live, and wanted to use it in service of the forces of good. {{storylink|Enter on the Stage! Later, Metalhawk joined with the other Autobots in charging out to investigate a mysterious Decepticon plot, only to be stunned by the sight of Galvatron and a legion of legendary Decepticons barring their way. Metalhawk could immediately tell that something was off, since he knew that Galvatron was supposed to be dead, but after a battle with King Poseidon]], it was soon revealed that they had been duped with holographic images. {{storylink|Burn, Super Soul! Metalhawk and the Pretenders dropped off the radar after this battle, appearing only briefly to monitor a two-pronged attack by the Decepticons against Earth. God Ginrai's Amazing Super-God Combination! Fortunately for all concerned, they returned to the front lines during Ginrai's final battle with the Decepticons, during which the Decepticon emperor, Devil Z, turned on his subordinates, and attempted to absorb their Jinchōkon in order to transform himself into the ultimate lifeform. Metalhawk and the Pretenders hurled themselves into the path of the villain's Jinchōkon-absorbing beam, saving Ginrai and the Decepticons from its effects, and remaining unharmed themselves, since, as true robots, they possessed no Jinchōkon of their own. Metalhawk subsequently joined with all the other Autobots and Decepticons in combining their energies into the "Perfect Transform Attack", which destroyed Devil Z once and for all. With the alien's death, the humans were separated from their Transtectors, and the Transtectors themselves were brought to life as true super-robot lifeforms. :Cancer is a human and a Decepticon Headmaster Junior in the Super-God Masterforce portion of Generation 1 continuity family.

Cancer isn't a bad kid—he's just been dealt a bad hand. An orphan raised at a martial arts dojo in his home country of China, Cancer was bullied by the other pupils, but was determined to become as strong as he could in order to put the dojo on the map. Unfortunately, that's when the Decepticons came along, and Cancer saw joining them as an opportunity to achieve this goal. Alas, Cancer got a little lost in the opportunities he was offered to run wild and be the "tough guy" for the first time, and with the husband-and-wife team of Giga and Mega leading the villains, he has found a sense of family in the Decepticons that he had never enjoyed before. But Cancer doesn't really want to hurt anyone, and the evil of the Decepticons is steadily growing less and less palatable for this troubled youth...

As a Decepticon Headmaster Junior warrior, Cancer is bonded to a Transtector from the planet Master, which takes the form of a bipedal crab monster. He is heir to the powerful martial arts technique known as Chōryūken (超竜拳, "Super Dragon Fist", which involves… kicking the opponent), a skill that greatly impresses his doting surrogate mother, Mega. He considers his fellow Headmaster Juniors Wilder and Bullhorn genuine friends, and is partnered up with the diminutive Browning, who call him "boss" and follows his every command.
Orphaned as an infant, Cancer was taken in by the sensei of the Chōryūken Dojo and raised as his own son. Although embittered thanks to being bullied by the other students at the dojo simply for being an orphan, Cancer adored his sensei and trained hard in the martial arts, intending to become an expert and raise the dojo's profile. When the Decepticons resurfaced on Earth after years of inactivity, Cancer saw the powerful robots as a means to his ends, and joined up with them. Although Cancer would not discover it until months later, his sensei believed that Cancer left because he had turned his back on his teachings and fell ill, ultimately dying of sadness. God Ginrai - Save Cancer!?

Cancer joined up with the Decepticons alongside maladjusted American biker gang leader Wilder and Mexican street thug Bullhorn, and was bonded to a Transtector stolen from an Autobot transport ship. Cancer and his fellow ne'er-do-wells were sequestered in the undersea Decepticon headquarters until Blood finally announced it was time for them to reveal themselves to the world. Alongside some Lobclaw Seacons, Cancer and the Juniors began causing chaos in a city, soon drawing the attention of the Autobots, including their own three recently created Headmaster Juniors. The Autobot Juniors were under orders to stay out of the fight and focus on rescue operations, but Cancer and his compatriots made it tough to follow the order as they pushed and shoved Shūta Gō around while he tried to rescue a baby from a burning building. Thankfully, Metalhawk arrived to see them off, and the day was saved. Birth! Headmaster Jrs
Cancer accompanied Wilder when he sought revenge against the Cool Guys, the biker gang that had crossed his in the past, Rage!! Little Devils with No Need for Rules and when he tried to force his old friend Chris to join back up with him. On the latter mission, Cancer showed his dirty side by placing a knife to Chris's sister's throat, but Chris took him out of the picture by crashing a motorcycle into him. Go, Goshooter - Showdown in the Wasteland

Cancer and the Juniors took something of a back seat following the arrival of the powerful Godmasters Giga, Mega, Hydra and Buster, Super Warriors - The Godmaster Brothers although Mega took an immediate liking to Cancer, and had Gilmer serve as a punching bag to allow Cancer to demonstrate his Super Dragon Fist for her. A Fierce Battle!! The Autobots Are in Trouble When the hunt for the next Godmaster began, the three boys put their ears to the ground to search for clues. They wound up unearthing a series of rumors that led to the next Godmaster, named Ginrai, but he sided with the Autobots. A Hero Is Chosen - His Name Is Ginrai

When Ginrai travelled to Japan to visit the other Autobots, Cancer, Wilder and Bullhorn ambushed him en route to the Autobot base, but Ginrai thrashed all three of them soundly. Cancer was taken captive and brought back to the Autobot base for interrogation, but he refused to say anything, even as the kindly Minerva tended his wounds and offered him a drink. Suspecting foul play, Cancer shattered the glass with a kick, cutting Minerva's hand, but even then, the girl would now allow Shūta and Cab to hurt Cancer. When an enraged Ginrai burst into the room and seized Cancer, intending to force whatever information he could from him, Minerva forced him to back down and offered Cancer a drink once more, which the young Decepticon this time gratefully accepted. His resistance worn down, Cancer related to the Autobots the origin of Godmasters as it had been told to him by Giga, and the Autobots agreed to release him. Escorted out of the Autobot base while blindfolded, Cancer was handed over to Hydra and Buster, but they immediately found a homing beacon the Autobots had planted on Cancer's shirt, and attacked the heroes in retribution. Buster seized Minerva and placed his blaster to her head, but Cancer snatched her away to safety, begging the Decepticons not to kill anyone. Startled by this turn of events, Hydra was defeated by Ginrai and ordered a retreat, with Cancer shouting back to Minerva as he ran that his kindness was merely payback for the drink. A Strange Friendship: Cancer and Minerva

Desiring a rematch with Ginrai, Cancer and the Juniors combed Japan for him, eventually spotting him in the background of a news report from Nagano. After losing the resultant battle, Friend or Foe!? The True Form of the Monster!! the trio drowned their sorrows in a bar, where Cancer flipped on the television to an entertainment program, only to discover that Ginrai was making an appearance on the show! Although Bullhorn was ready for another go-around with the Autobot Godmaster, Cancer and Wilder were less than enthused at the notion, and told him to leave the matter to Buster and Hydra. Eliminate the Godmaster Ginrai

Later, on an island off the coast of America, Cancer and the Juniors showed off their surfing skills to a group of young boys, and then offered to show them something "even cooler"—their Masterforce powers! They proceeded to kidnap the children as part of a plan by the Pretenders to draw out Ginrai. When the Autobots attacked, Minerva attempted to appeal to Cancer, only to have Bullhorn strike her down. The trio fled when the Pretenders pulled out of the battle, leaving King Poseidon to battle Ginrai. Heroism!! The Birth of Super Ginrai

During the search for the remaining Godmasters, Cancer joined the Decepticons on a mission into the Rocky Mountains which concluded with the Autobots' recruiting the next Godmaster, Ranger. An Enemy? The Third Godmaster, Ranger The continuing quest next led Cancer and the Juniors to France to investigate a story about a retired race car driver whose vehicle miraculously survived every crash it was in. The trio headed for the small village of Dagneux, where they confronted the racer, Germain, but even Cancer's martial arts skills couldn't stand up to Germain, who strong-armed all three of them out of his bar. The Juniors returned in their Transtectors to tear through the town, but were defeated when their suspicions were proven correct: Germain's car had been a Transtector, but he had passed it on to his protégé, Road King, who became the next Autobot Godmaster and aided his new teammates in seeing the Decepticon Juniors off. {{storylink|At Full Strength!

As time went by, the kindness Minerva had shown Cancer weighed on the boy's mind, and Wilder and Bullhorn's continuous teasing did not help the matter. Noticing that Cancer was depressed, Mega called him to her quarters, where she gave him a present: A small gun Transformer named Browning, with whom Cancer quickly made friends. His spirits bolstered by this kindness, Cancer resolved to prove to Wilder and Bullhorn (and perhaps, to himself) that Minerva meant nothing to him by leading them in an attack on a city in hopes of drawing them out. Unfortunately for the three youths, their attack was responded to by the violent Sixknight, who would have killed them all had Browning not teamed up with Minerva to stop him. The Autobot Warrior, Sixknight?! Even after this catastrophic affair, however, Bullhorn and Wilder were happy to keep up the ribbing when the Juniors were tasked with burning food storehouses in the heartland of America, mocking Cancer for thinking that they were destroying all the food in the country. Destroy Godbomber!!

Cancer, Bullhorn and Wilder were not particularly enthusiastic about renewing the search for the final Godmaster, but the quest came to a sudden end when the Godmaster in question, Clouder, actually sought the Decepticons out. Appearance!! The Final Godmaster Using his power to transform into two robot modes, Clouder infiltrated the Autobot base as a spy and acquired classified information, which he handed off to Bullhorn and the Juniors to give to Mega and Giga. {{storylink|Secret Orders!

When the powerful Decepticon BlackZarak joined the Decepticons on Earth, Cancer and the other Juniors headed into space in preparation for the activation of the evil Death Para-Machine. As Cancer pointed out to Wilder when he nearly floated away, they couldn't actually participate in the battle with the Autobots that resulted, as they didn't have boosters to help them fly in space. Crisis! The Day of the Downfall of Humanity Although the Autobots were able to destroy the Death-Para Machine, Cancer had now seen the full extent of Devil Z's evil, and grew even more concerned with his plan to wipe out humanity. Discovering from Wilder that his home town happened to be next on BlackZarak's hit list, the horrified Cancer immediately headed there, running through the streets in his Transtector and shouting for the populous to take refuge in the mountains. Rather than listen to his warnings, however, the crowd simply ran at the sight of him. Amongst the fleeing people, Cancer spotted Chang, an old friend from his days at the dojo, and he disembarked his Transtector to greet him. After Chang calmed down and recognized his friend, the pair had a happy reunion, but the mood darkened when Cancer suggested that they go to their old sensei for help in the evacuation. Chang was forced to reveal that their sensei had died six months prior, but the distraught Cancer could not even grieve for long before he was attacked by two of the dojo's pupils, who blamed him for everything. Browning flattened the thugs, at which point Road King appeared, having overhead Cancer's story. He attempted to empathize with the boy, but the angry Cancer responded by opening fire on him with Browning and escaping. Not long thereafter, BlackZarak arrived in the city and began his attack, and when Cancer's pleas fell on deaf ears, he realized there was truly nothing he could do. About to depart, Cancer's attention was caught by cries from Chang, who had become trapped in a burning building while looking for Cancer. Cancer lifted his friend to safety, but was then inadvertently struck in the back by a stray blast from BlackZarak, and buried beneath a hail of rubble. Browning ran off to find the Autobots who were battling BlackZarak, and at his request, the Autobot Juniors unearthed Cancer while Ginrai battled and defeated BlackZarak. When the battle was over, the Autobots allowed Cancer to leave peacefully, on the basis that he had genuinely tried to save lives, proving that, unlike the other Decepticons, he truly had a heart. God Ginrai - Save Cancer!?

Later, when Clouder resurfaced on the side of the Autobots and was captured alongside Shūta, his announcement that he was betrayed by Turtler and left to die in the conflagration of the destroyed Autobot base only served to amplify Cancer's doubts about the Decepticons cause. Finally, when Ginrai arrived at the Decepticon base to rescue Shūta and Clouder, Cancer finally snapped and opened fire on King Poseidon, blowing its arm off and freeing Shūta from his clutches. As the Seacons lunged at the traitorous Cancer, Bullhorn opened fire on the drones and destroyed them, urging Cancer to get away to safety, and he escaped the base with Browning the Autobots. God Ginrai: Showdown at the Decepticon Base Cancer proceeded to join up with the Autobots and offer them enough inside information to allow them to perform an all-out attack on the Decepticon base. The battle which ensued came to an end when Devil Z and BlackZarak fused together and collapsed the base, sending the Autobots, along with the Bullhorn and Wilder, tumbling into an undersea chasm. {{storylink|The Ultimate Combination!!

Faced with the truth of Devil Z's betrayal, Bullhorn and Wilder turned their backs on the Decepticons, but had no interest in joining the Autobots and fighting "for good", and left Cancer behind. During a later battle, however, when things were looking bad for Cancer and the Autobot Juniors, Bullhorn and Wilder unexpectedly returned to help the one person that they still considered their friend win the day. Battle to the Death!! God Ginrai VS Darkwings Reborn Now reunited, the three Juniors, along with Clouder, accompanied the Autobots to the Grand Canyon on a mission to stop the composite Devil Z/BlackZarak entity. During the battle, however, all four of them were struck with a blast of the villain's Devil Power, and were shocked to find their Master-Braces had disappeared from their wrists. Devil Z had, in fact, separated them from their Transtectors and brought the robot bodies to life as true super-robot lifeforms, all four of which rejoined the Decepticon side. Autobots! Desperate Attack!! Left unable to join in the final battle with the Decepticons on the Matterhorn directly, Cancer and the other three boys helped to rescue civilians and huddled in an underground shelter when Devil Z unleashed his destructive Devil Thunder across Europe. Malevolent and Inhuman! The True Form of Devil Z When the Devil Thunder bombardment was halted (thanks to Ginrai engaging BlackZarak in battle), Clouder supplied the group with an armored buggy that would allow them to join in the fight. The boys arrived too late to do anything, cresting the mountain just after God Ginrai destroyed Devil Z, at which point all the other Godmasters and Headmaster Juniors were also separated from their Transtectors. Cancer's living Transtector departed Earth with all the other Deception Transtectors, and was pursued by the Autobots' Transtectors to carry on the Transformers' war in space. A Battle... and Then...
Cancer's living Transtector was among the Decepticons under the command of Overlord, often battling the Autobots led by God Ginrai in the G Nebula. Planet Micro - The Mysterious Warrior

Cancer and the Decepticon Headmaster Juniors made their debut when Blood lured the Autobot Juniors into a trap to test the power of their Jinchōkon. Bursting up from beneath the ground, the evil trio quickly overpowered their Autobot counterparts, but when Cancer was distracted by some endangered civilians, the heroes were able to exploit the distraction to defeat their foes. Destined Confrontation: The Children of Good and Evil

Cancer and his partners did not take an active hand in any of the Decepticon plans which immediately followed, but eventually took to the front lines again when their leaders, Giga and Mega, unveiled their Transtectors for an attack on Tokyo. God Ginrai's Amazing Super-God Combination! The trio were quite happy to watch when the Decepticons captured Shūta and Cab and Blood tortured them in an attempt to force them to join the Decepticons, but Cancer took particular offence when Shūta claimed that the Decepticons weren't a family at all, as they were the only family he had. The Earth Family of Good and Evil Cancer and the Juniors later joined Overlord in attacking various spots on Earth from the top of Mount Everest with the A.O. Laser, although it was thanks to an insulting comment from Cancer that their fickle new ally Doubleclouder turned on them and foiled their plan. Decepticons' Great Counterattack! Later still, Cancer and the Juniors accompanied Overlord and BlackZarak in attacking another Earth city, only to be stopped by the Autobot super-weapon, the VX Bomb. {{storylink|Live?

When Cancer sneaked out the Decepticon base and went to a city for the New Year celebrations, Cancer disobeyed him and ran away with Browning. Unfortunately, his New Year holidays coincided with an attack by BlackZarak upon the city, and when the Autobots arrived to engage him, the massive Decepticon seized Cancer to use as a bargaining chip. As BlackZarak pummelled the helpless Autobots, Overlord appeared in the skies above and brutally attacked BlackZarak, outraged at his treatment of Cancer. With BlackZarak weakened, the Autobots were able to defeat him, and Cancer returned to the Decepticon base to discover that the reason he had not been allowed to return home was because the Decepticons had wanted to celebrate with him, and had even made decorations. Cancer was disappointed in himself for not trusting his family, but Mega forgave him, and Browning noted that running away never solves anything. Great Turn-Around! Autobots

In the final battle, Devil Z turned against his Decepticon minions, and they united with the Autobots against him. Cancer joined with all the other Transformers in combining his energy into the "Perfect Transform Attack," destroying Devil Z once and for all. With Devil Z's death, the bond he had forged between the humans and their Transtectors was severed, and the Transtectors themselves were truly brought to life. Giga and Mega were revealed to have also been sustained by Devil Z's energies, and his death brought about their own passing, to which Cancer reacted tearfully. Cancer's Transtector subsequently departed for space along with all the others. The Birth of the Super Lifeforms
The Cancer Headmaster figure fits in a cockpit in the Transtector's stomach (hinged, most unfortunately, at the crotch). The creature's tail disconnects and becomes a weapon for robot mode that sure as heck looks like a double-barrelled gun, but which is referred to as a sword in Cancer's Tech Specs.

:Like all Headmaster toys, Cancer's robot mode features a spring-loaded mini-Tech-Spec-meter in its chest, which gives readings for Speed, Strength and Intelligence (although he and the other Decepticon Junior molds are unique in that their meters are not covered by flip-down panels). The meter is activated when Cancer (or any other Headmaster unit) is plugged into the neck socket; as a small Headmaster, all three readings are on a single tumbler, so any head plugged in will result in the same stats. Cancer has his robot-mode face plainly visible on his back because, as a smaller Headmaster toy, he lacks the flip-down panel that covers the face featured on larger Headmasters.
