: Alpha Quintesson is an alien from the Energon series.

A mysterious yet child-like manipulator, Alpha Quintesson has his tentacles spread wide, influencing the actions of both Autobot and Decepticon alike. He also has the command of armies of Terrorcon drones! His actual motives are unclear, but his goal is obvious; he plans to gather enough Energon to restore the shattered remains of the planet-devouring Unicron!

Japanese name: Alpha-Q (tee hee)

Alpha Quintesson began the war over Energon by providing the Terrorcon group -led by Scorponok- with enhanced powers and "Hyper Modes", sending them to the undefended Earth to drain it of the newly-discovered pure Energon ore. At the same time, he sent his four Horsemen (three Autobots and a Decepticon that had been captured and brainwashed before Unicron was defeated ten years previous) to Cybertron to wreak havoc, preventing the Autobots from getting to Earth.

Unfortunately for Alpha, the Horsemen were repelled by the Omnicons and the newly-enhanced Autobots, which gave them the time needed to reach Earth and sink the Terrorcons' plans. For a time, Alpha Quintesson's involvement in the war was minimal, but when he returned, it was in a big way; unleashing thouseands of Terrorcon drones to decimate Los Angeles, Tokyo, Toronto and Moscow.

But the Decepticons weren't the only ones Alpha Quintesson was working with towards his goal of restoring the shell of Unicron. Perhaps more dangerous than the Terrorcons was Alpha-Quintesson's hidden ally, Avalon, a member of the High Council, Cybertron's ruling body!

(Note: The Energon comic ended before its storyline was completed due to the bankruptcy of Dreamwave, and as such, the extent of Alpha Quintesson and Avalon's planning is -and may likely remain- unknown. What little we know hinted that perhaps Alpha Quintesson was not entirely happy in his forced servitude to Unicron, and was making plans to rectify the situation.)
*Alpha Quintesson (Mega, 2005)

:One of the last toys in the Energon line, Alpha Quintesson is fairly unique in that he is one of the only toys in the main Transformers line that does not transform in any manner. (The Action Masters had transforming partners and vehicles, remember.)

:The main gimmick involves his three different faces; pressing a trigger on the toy's back switches from face to face. The bed of tentacles that serves as the toy's base uses a gear-wheel system to spin his three bendable tentacles around when the toy is rolled forward or backwards. He also has a spring-loaded missile launcher that can be mounted on one of the numerous 5mm-wide weapon-ports on Alpha Quintesson's body. Each of these ports also doubles as a mounting point for an Energon chip.

Sapient alien robots and humans can be friends, once they are able to communicate with each other. There is no reason this should not be, if we are to assume the existence of sapient alien robots; beings with the ability to reflect on "life, the universe, and everything" would have a lot in common.

One definite lack of commonality, however, is the ability to reproduce. Metal robots and flesh creatures just can't have babies, no matter how hard they try. The physiology is simply not compatible. Since the urge to engage in sex is often a major contributor to romantic interest, it may seem unusual for this attraction to exist between a robot and a fleshling -- and yet, throughout Transformers fiction, such examples do exist.

To write them off as silly plot contrivances is easy. It is, however, also easy to write off large sections of the fiction as silly contrivances, which leads us down a dangerous path. Therefore we must assume that, impractical and absurd as it may be, these incompatible species must be similar enough mentally to make romantic attraction, even in the absence of sexual compatibility, possible.

A list of notable Transformer-fleshling pairs is given below.
*Starscream and Alexis

Humans (also known as: fleshlings, squishies, and "dumb stubbies") are bipedal, usually tiny organic beings found on Earth and like planets. Though quite weak, fragile, and technologically backwards, they have sometimes aided the Autobots and thwarted the Decepticons once the Transformers' age-old war spilled onto the humans' primitive homeworld.

Humans are suspiciously familiar creatures. Though they are made of soft, organic materials, they share remarkable physical similarities with Transformers as a species. Most Transformers and humans walk upright on two long legs attached to a tall body, with two limbs attached at the shoulders. At the shoulders is the head, just like a Transformer's, which sports two eyes in the center at equal distance from the olfactory sensor array, above a mouth which opens for speaking and for injesting energy. Like Transformers, they are social creatures, who trade and barter wares and develop emotional attachments to peers. Eerily enough, they possess a nearly identical emotional spectrum, ranging from laughter, joy, and satisfaction to depression, anger, and cruelty. It is not uncommon to find Transformers who have even developed strong spiritual bonds with individual creatures. This is disgusting.

There are some differences, however increasingly fewer as interaction with humans has influenced Transformers culture. A human's organic tissue will begin failing just one quarter into his or her lifespan, and will spend the next three quarters growing ever less efficient until the human's lifeforce can no longer sustain itself. As a result, humans are saddeningly short-lived creatures. (It is not sure how they find the time to accomplish anything, though as a side effect it has made their wars mercifully shorter.) Interestingly, humans do not build new members of their race. To the contrary, humans are what they have deemed "sexually dimorphic," meaning one subvarient of their species will implant structural data in the other. This second subvarient will grow a new human (or occasionally more than one human, although this is rare) inside them like a parasite and release it when it is ready. The new human is very stupid and will take years to acclimate itself to their society. There is apparently much rubbing involved in the creation of the new human. They don't much like to talk about it much further, and several attempts at accumulating further information on the process have been staved off by awkward silence. This is confusing, as humans give all impressions that they supremely enjoy it, and have refused all suggestions that they learn the technology to build their own from spare parts.

A great number of humans believe in supernatural beings, either singular or plural, who have a direct but intangible stake in their lives. Once a week the more religious humans will gather together and sing songs at the ceiling, the presumed direction of these beings, despite no affirmable evidence these beings exist. This seems like a waste of spent attention, especially with such short lifespans, as no credible sources have substantiated that their alleged creator has ever transformed out of their world into a giant humanoid and fought its eternal enemy before their eyes. Many human traditions are puzzling.

The most familiar breed of humans are native to the planet Earth, though they can be found practically anywhere in the galaxy. For example, Nebulos is such a place, though some reports claim these humans are of green texture rather than various shades of beige. Femax is populated by humans of Transformer size. Pz-Zazz is also home to Transformer-sized humans, but it is not known whether they are indigenous to that world. It is possible that the tiny version of humans found on Earth is the exception, rather than the rule.
