I've pasted in the episode lists from the templates that were here before we started working on the wiki. However, I'm not sure on what basis the list is split into two seasons. I've left it split for now, but, does anybody have a justification for this split?
Just wondering if these pages are going to get general Series Summaries/Overviews at some point? Fact is for a variety of reasons I havn't watched a TF toon regularly since the middle of Armada so I'd really love detailed summaries of Energon and Cybertron (and the end of Arm. to make it up here.
Well, yes, eventually. I think the problem is, though, MOST of us were utterly lost or disinterested with the Energon cartoon, so, well, even summarising is going to be tricky. Persoanlly, I can't even remember which epsiode is which... at least with Armada and cybertron there are "guides" available (Micron Legend Yearbook and the CN site)... Super deformed is a style of manga and anime art that features smaller, cuter versions of pre-existing characters, with distorted proportions.

*The G1 Mini Vehicles' alt modes were based on Choro-Q toy cars, which themselves were super-deformed versions of actual cars. (This is particularly clear when you compare Cliffjumper to an actual Porsche 924.)

*The Monster Pretenders featured rubbery beast shells and robot monster modes that were scrunched and deformed enough to be considered super-deformed (Scowl's bio in particular makes note of this horrid cuteness.)

*In 1990, Takara marketed a series of super-deformed Transformers toys, with the Transformer PD Type mini-comics serving as their official fiction.

*MyClone figurines are also designed in a super-deformed style.

*The fanmade comic "Superdeformers", written by Matt Nelson, featured parodies of various Transformers under slightly altered names (for example, Megatron became Megaphone and Starscream became Sunscreen) and Transformers in general. It was canceled and the website was taken down when Hasbro threatened legal action.
During the end of the first era, when the Transformers of Optimus Prime and Megatron's generation began to appear, Rodimus declared that war was destroying Cybertron. Rodimus vowed he would venture into space to find a new home, and all those who wanted the same could come along. Many Autobots and Decepticons would join him, among him were Prowl and Landmine, as well as the Transformers who would eventually evolve into the Omnicons.
Re: Derik's comments - Well, we are humans and this is a TF wiki written by humans on Earth, which is in orbit of a star named Sol, which we usually call 'the Sun' (or literally 'Face of God' in some cultures). Until we get a wiki written by the Transformers where they write about themselves and their 'sun', we can be as Earth-centric as we like. YEAH. --FFN 08:03, 1 February 2007 (UTC)

: A good number of articles on this wiki are not human-centric. (For example, human.) Derik's at least half right, in that there's a difference between "the sun" and "the Sun." "The sun" can be any star that's the center of whatever solar system you're in. (Example: Search google for "Return of Optimus Prime sun" and you'll get a whoooole lotta common useage of "sun" to refer to the star that was going nova in that episode.)
Throughout the various Transformers canon, there have been several instances of Transformers with humanistic traits and having very human actions that possibly conflict with their status as mechanical robots. Many of these instances can be dismissed as stylistic choices by the artists or as gags not to be taken seriously.

Glandular and digestive
Sweating
* In issue nine of the original Generation 1 comic, Frenzy is seen leaking lubricant from his head during a stressful confrontation with Shockwave (as Shockwave points out), in a manner resembling sweating.

* Numerous times in the Marvel UK comic, Kup can be seen "sweating."

* Robots in Disguise and Armada featured Transformers displaying the traditional anime "sweatdrop," a giant bead of liquid appearing at the side of the head to convey embarrassment or exasperation.

Coughing
* In the G1 episode Roll For It, when the Autobots emerge from the ruins of a demolished antimatter laboratory, they are coughing.

* In Beast Wars, Megatron begins to cough for no reason while making a triumphant speech. Much like Powerglide's "heart", this could be a one-shot joke.

Spitting
* Throughout his term on the Marvel UK comic letters page, Soundwave would regularly say "(Puttup)" after mentioning the Autobots or an Autobot's name to represent him spitting in disgust. This habit made an in-story appearance, with him spitting at Robot-Master despite his mouthplate.
* In the Beast Wars episode "Tangled Web", Quickstrike "spat" after reissuing his challenge to tangle with Silverbolt, despite the fact that, like Soundwave, he has no apparent mouth.

Crying
*A twinkle of light that may not literally be a tear, but is clearly intended to imply one, can be seen in Omega Supreme's eye at the end of "The Secret of Omega Supreme".

*When Optimus Prime dies in The Transformers: The Movie, Arcee is seen to dab at her eyes.

* When pondering Silverbolt's fate in Beast Machines, Blackarachnia is shown to shed a single tear from one of her spider eyes.

* Throughout Beast Wars II and Robots in Disguise, and occasionally in the Armada cartoon, several characters are seen crying in conventional anime fashion.

*Tears can be seen welling up in Ironhide's eyes and falling to the ground in Energon as he mourns a fallen comrade.

Flatulence
* In the Beast Wars episode "The Low Road", Rhinox lets out an extreme amount of flatulence after consuming wild bean vines. This could be due to Maximals having organic parts in their makeup.
* Also in Beast Wars, In the episode "Bad Spark", Cheetor also lets out flatulence, blaming it on a large buildup of energy from his Transmetal body.

Intoxication
* In the G1 cartoon episode "Microbots", the Decepticons are noticeably behaving in an intoxicated fashion after consuming a high-grade energon.

* In Beast Wars II, Galvatron gets "drunk" on numerous occasions.

* In the UK comic, the Wreckers frequent a "bar" on Cybertron called Maccadam's Old Oil House, where they consume high-grade energon, presumably for the purposes of getting intoxicated. Dreadwind and Darkwing paid a visit to this establishment in a later story, and got so hammered that they didn't even notice Quickswitch fighting with some Mecannibals.

* The Generation 1 cartoon series is the only major piece of fiction to not present Transformers as possessing teeth and/or tongues. The features appear in both the Marvel and Dreamwave comics, the Beast Wars and Beast Machines animated series (where teeth would even be knocked out on occasion), the Robots in Disguise cartoon, and the Unicron Trilogy cartoons and comics.

* One of the most recent examples to carry on this tradition is the Kiss Players manga, in which a Legion character is equipped with a distinctive prehensile tongue.

Questionable body parts
* Nearly all Transformers seem to possess noses for no discernable functional reason.

* In the G1 episode "The Girl Who Loved Powerglide", Powerglide is seen at the end of the episode having the LED outline of a cartoon heart within his chasis. This is somewhat nonsensical within in the context of the show (the contents of Transformers chest cavitites had been shown several times before), and is probably merely meant as a one-off sight gag.

* Alpha Trion, Scourge, and Wreck-Gar all sport "facial hair" in the G1 cartoon.

* Predaking (possibly brought back from the dead) has an organic brain when he is sliced in half in Zone.

Other biological functions
Sleep
* In the G1 comic, Ratchet falls asleep and dreams (or rather, has a nightmare). This goes against established canon for that continuity that Transformers deactivate fully rather than "sleep," a point Ratchet himself makes.

* In the Generation 2 comic, Kup attempts to rouse a vision-struck Optimus Prime by urging him to "wake up" -- then reminds himself that "we don't sleep!"

* In Beast Wars, it has been firmly established that (perhaps partially due to their organic components), all Transformers within the cartoon sleep. Some prime examples of this are:
** Megatron has been shown to sleep in the command chair of the Darksyde, while his dino head mounted on the end of his arm stays awake, looks around, and smiles slyly. Wonder what it thinks about...
** Cheetor has been shown asleep at many points, complete with (occasionally prophetic) dreams.
** In "Call of the Wild", the Maximals are kept awake for two days by the Predacons' non-stop attacks on their base, which exacerbate their beast instincts overriding their logic circuits.

* Beast Wars II Galvatron often nods off in a narcoleptic-like fashion.

* Armada Cyclonus is quite fond of catching forty winks when possible. Scavenger did the same on one occasion.

Sexuality
One of the most controversial aspects of Transformers is the idea of sexuality. While it is established in most continuities that Transformers do not reproduce sexually, most continuities nonetheless have distinctive male and female characters (with the notable exception of the G1 comic, which explicitly states there is no sexual distinction).

The G1 cartoon brought the first official female Autobots into the canon, including Elita One and Arcee. The characters are noticeably more feminine in design and have clearly defined romantic relationships with male Autobots.

The issue becomes more complicated in Beast Wars, where the sexuality line is clearly defined (Blackarachnia has a particularly well defined female figure, including what appears to be an ample bosom). It is hinted on occasion that the robots may engage in activities resembling human sex acts. Rattrap slyly makes a double entendre to Silverbolt regarding his suspected kinky activities with Predacon Blackarachnia, and later makes a comment about going to what sounds like a Cybertonian version of a strip club.

In the original Japanese version of Energon, Mirage displays romantic interest in Galvatron, causing his comrades to regard him with minor confusion. The Energon dub seemed to do its best to skirt around this issue, with Mirage's exclamations either being about different things entirely or simple cheering on of his leader - but they couldn't do anything about the hands-clapsed-beside-his-head-while-doe-eyed expressions, or the one time that he pirouetted, struck a pose while surrounded by a giant glowing pink heart.

*Tears can be seen welling up in from Ironhide's eyes and falling to the ground in Energon as he mourns a fallen comrade.

Flatulence
* In Beast Wars II, Galvatron gets "drunk" on numerous occasions.

Cyclonus is one wild and craaaaaaazy guy. Seriously, he's the guy in the group that even the other Cons think is a little unbalanced. His usual battle tactic is to rush straight in with every piece of artillery he has blazing, all while laughing maniacally. Other times, he yodels while rushing straight in with every piece of artillery he has blazing.

He loves combat, and isn't particularly picky about which side he's on, so long as he gets to shoot things. He's not especially bright, but Megatron knows the value of a soldier largely without fear.
Voice actor: Don Brown (US) Isshin Chiba (Japan)

Cyclonus is a wild soldier under Megatron's command. He is closely partnered with his comrade Demolishor, with whom he sometimes shares a love/hate relationship. He is known for having a maniacal personality and will often fire at targets frantically, risking damage to his own teammates. He has a quirky and sarcastic personality, often leading to harsh punishment by his commander. Cyclonus served Megatron throughout the Unicron Battles, and was a key player in the united Armada against the chaos-bringer. His alternate form is a helicopter, and he often took pleasure in tormenting the three kids under Optimus Prime's protection. He joined the Autobot unit after the demise of Megatron, though with reservations.

Energon
Voice actor: Don Brown (US) Isshin Chiba (Japan)

Cyclonus returned as the guardian of Cybertron City based on the moon. Although he served his role dutifully, he was yearning for the days of combat. Not long after the attacks on Mars and Asteroid City, the moon would also be attacked, a battle through which Cyclonus would hold up a small resistance before he was presumed destroyed. As Demolishor prepared for more Terrorcon assaults on Earth, Cyclonus surfaced, having tucked tail and ran, abandoning Cybertron City on the moon to be looted of its Energon. Cyclonus assisted Demolishor and the Autobots until Tidal Wave showed up wielding Megatron's Sword, a blade forged by Alpha Quintesson from the Spark of Megatron. Believing that it was proof of Megatron, Cyclonus abandoned the Autobots and Demolishor, joining Alpha Quintesson's forces.

Cyclonus would once again serve Megatron when the commander was revived within Unicron for some time, before sustaining damages from an Autobot assault while retreating. Having failed to topple the Energon towers, Cyclonus returned injured to his commander, begging for repairs. In a rage, Megatron bound Cyclonus to the wall using Unicron's internal tentacles as punishment. Cyclonus was then fused with Unicron's essense in a painful manner and upgraded into Snow Cat, who then took up yodeling, and skiing. During the Powerlinx Battles Snow Cat and Demolisher had to deal with a gigantic Insecticon, who was mutated by the Super Energon.

Snow Cat was thought destroyed in Energon but (his Universe bio reveals) he in fact survived on Cybertron during the Unicron Singularity evacuation...

Cybetron
Universe Toy Bio

Following the Powerlinx Battles Snow Cat went totally starkers (it wasn't a long trip), and without Megatron to guide him, wandered the streets of Kaon, a raving loon during the planet's evacuation.

: (Note: Snow Cat's Universe bio sets him off-camera during the events of Cybertron rather within the pre-existing Universe storyline. This is likely due to the Universe storyline giving way to and folding into the Fanclub Cybertron comic which is set largely on this abandoned Cybertron.)
Armada
Energon
Ten years after the destruction of Unicron, Cyclonus was spotted in Cyber City, oddly not blowing anything up. This Evil Reborn

Later, Snow Cat, under the command of Scorponok, captured the Omnicons in a small town in the Yukon and rigged them to a machine that would extract their energon to feed Unicron, then reprogram them as Terrorcons. However, the Omnicons learned the value of teamwork thanks to the shared-hallucination-indiced disembodied advice-giving head of Over-Run, broke free, and totally kicked his ass. Omni-Potent

Much later, Snow Cat was one of several Decepticons who attempted to "sneak" into Ocean City and steal the data for the Autobots' Omega Supreme prototype. He rushed into the dark hangar, smacked into a scaffolding like a big dumb doof, and was chased out by security. Megatron didn't buy Snow Cat's recounting of his daring and skill for one second. Dreamwave Summer Special

:(Note: Due to the bankruptcy of Dreamwave Productions, it has not been confirmed if Cyclonus and Snow Cat are one and the same in this reality. If Snow Cat was indeed a reformatted Cyclonus, then it is likely that he was taken during the horsemen's attack on Cybertron during issue 21.)
Toys
Armada
*Cyclonus with Mini-Con Crumplezone (Deluxe, 2002/2003)
: Japanese ID number: MD-04

:Cyclonus transforms into a cybetronian helicopter coloured in light blue, light grey with dark blue and gold accents. His Mini-Con Crumplezone can be attached to the front of his helicopter cockpit for added firepower. Attaching Mini-Cons to either of his wing-mounted weapons pods launches a missile. In robot mode, attaching a Mini-Con to the ports on either side of his legs will make a spring-loaded cannon pop up from his shins.

: The Japanese release of Cyclonus has some slight color differences, including a "separated" painted sigil, and a much brighter white plastic.

: This mold was also used to make Cybertron Buzzsaw.

*Sandstorm w/ Cannon and Destruction Micron (Multi-pack, 2003)
: Japanese ID number: MS-04

: This Japanese release is largely identical to the single-packed version, except that it comes with the Destruction Mini-Con Team, whose gear-gimmicks were designed to function with Cyclonus.

*Cyclonus (Happy Meal toy, 2003)

: Part of the McDonald's Armada promotion, Cyclonus transforms into an assault helicopter. Rolling his vehicle form forward spins his rotor prop, which launches into the air after picking up enough speed, a gimmick liek that of the Generation 2 Rotor Force toys. He could combine with the Happy Meal versions of Megatron, Starscream and Demolishor toys to form a "super vehicle".

*Megatron with Leader-1 and Cyclonus with Crumplezone (Built to Rule, 2003)

: Part of the largest Transformers series Built to Rule set, Cyclonus can be assmebled into an assault helicopter, a robot, or whatever your imagination can do with the blocks provided. Cyclonus is the only Built to Rule "figure" that does not have some kind of missile launcher. He came witha block-version of his Mini-Con parter Crumplezone, as well as the larger Megatron with Leader-1 model.

*Powerlinx Cyclonus with Mini-Con Crumplezone (Deluxe, 2003)

: This redeco of Cyclonus is designed as something of a questionable homage to Springer, using mostly bright green plastic, as well as dark grey and chocolate-brown. He retains all of his original gimmicks and still has his Mini-Con partner.

: This toy was not relased as part of the normal Micron Legend series in Japan; presumably, it was straight-imported as a USA Edition.

: In November of 2003, US Toys "R" Us stores had special bonus pack Max-Con (Deluxe) toys, which came with a single bonus Mini-Con attached to the card over their sticker, for less than the price as a normal Max-Con during Toys "R" Us' post-Thanksgiving-day sale. Like Powerlinx Hot Shot, Powerlinx Cyclonus could come with one of the Adventure Mini-Con Team members: Dune Runner, Iceberg or Ransack.

Energon
*Cyclonus with Mini-Con Crumplezone (Deluxe, 2004)
: Japanese ID number: SD-03

: This is an 'urban-camoflage' redeco of Cyclonus, presented in mostly dark grey with black and purple. The majority of the paint applications are black and white in a camoflage pattern.

: Released at the start of the Japanese Super Link line, this toy did not appear in the American Energon line until late 2004 as a KB Toys exclusive.

*Snow Cat (Deluxe, 2004)
: Japanese ID number: SD-10

:Snow Cat transforms into a Snow Cat SAM half-track. He is cast in primarily white and light blue plastics, with clear and burgundy for accents. In vehicle mode, the sideskirts can be lowered to form skis for the vehicle to travel on, while in robot mode the skis fold down from his legs. He features twin spring-loaded missile launchers available to him in both modes. Unusual for Transformers of this era, he has a visible cockpit interior with a partially frosted windshield and working windshield wiper.

Universe
*Snow Cat (Deluxe, 2005)

: The Energon Snow Cat mold was redecoed and released as an exclusive to Kay-Bee stores in 2005 along with a redeco of Energon Downshift. However, at the time Kay-Bee was undergoing financial troubles, closing numerous stores across the United States, and it appears that the two toys did not make it to a great many of the stores that remained open. Many did make their way to Toy Liquidator outlets, a sub-company within Kay-Bee. In 2006, it seems the toys finally made it to a wider distribution through the remaining Kay-Bee stories.

Trivia
* According to the Armada Playstation 2 game instruction booklet, Cyclonus's Armada body has the following statistics:
:Height: 19' 7" (17' 1" vehicle mode)
:Weight: 16,550 lbs
:Power: 1800 shaft horsepower
:Vehicle top speed: 190 mph

* The Snow Cat toy was designed to resemble a G.I. Joe vehicle of the same name. This toy also featured a frosted windshield with movable wiper. Why a good-guy vehicle got turned into a bad-guy robot is unknown.
:Jolt is a Mini-Con in the Cybertron portion of the Unicron Trilogy continuity family.

Jolt is the biggest geek you'll ever find. He spends hours surfing the Intarwebs soaking in Earth culture and catching up on all his favorite webcomics, making him a perfect companion to cinemaphile Bud Hansen, whom he calls "Bud-Dude." (He doesn't realize how extremely dorky that sounds.) Despite how awkwardly he sometimes applies this knowledge, Jolt does know amazing amounts of trivia about Earth. Before the Unicron Singularity's threat, however, Jolt claims to never have heard of the place, so how he arrived on the planet an expert is something to ponder.

Jolt possesses the ability to warp himself (and potentially beings very near him) from place to place by clasping his fingers together and spinning his rotors just so. He can't warp if his rotors are jammed or if he's in too small a space for them to have room to spin. This power comes in handy as he travels with Vector Prime, Safeguard, and the other two members of the Recon Mini-Con Team.

He's big enough to carry a passenger inside himself.

152.18.54.103: /* Beast Wars animated series */

A Transmetal is a (generally) Vok related enhanced form of a Beast Wars era Transformer, featuring a "mutated superstructure".

Normal Transmetal
In beast mode, the Transmetals seemed almost, if not entirely, mechanical, much like the animal Transformers of the previous Generation 1 franchise. However, as part of a partial "inversion", many of their robot modes bore organic elements, such as Cheetor's furry chest. Transmetals also typically featured a third "mobility" mode. While not full vehicular modes, these half-modes gave aspects of a vehicle to the existing beast forms. Examples included Rattrap as a wheeled rat and Megatron as a jet-powered inline skating enthusiast.

Beast Wars animated series
The Transmetals were created as a result of transformers being bathed in a quantum surge after the destruction of the Vok Planet Buster. All the Beast warriors who were not "born" from a protoform on Earth or shielded in a CR Chamber were altered. (Why Earth-"born" Transformers were immune to the surge's effects is unknown.)

The affected characters were Megatron, Tarantulas, Rattrap, and Cheetor. Scorponok and Terrorsaur were in the middle of their mutation when they fell into lava pits beneath the Darkside and perished. Optimus Primal, Rampage, and Depth Charge also eventually became Transmetals as a result of the surge.

Most Transmetals had additional weapons and seemingly enhanced power levels. They were immune to many Vok weapons, and may even be immune to the effects of energon radiation.

This last point had little bearing on the plot, since most of the energon deposits on Earth's surface had been destroyed by the Planet Buster cannon. However, in Tangled Web, Tarantulas is standing beneath an energon cache, completely unaffected. Meanwhile, in The Agenda, the non-Transmetal Inferno suffers energon overload while attempting to kill Optimus Primal and Cheetor. So immunity to the radiation may be a permanent effect of the Transmetal body.

According to Ben Yee, the Transmetals were originally conceived of by Beast Wars writers as "absorbing" energon radiation and then needing to later discharge that energy, typically as weapon energy. However, the only time this was hinted at in the series was during "Bad Spark", when Cheetor "farts" a little energon cloud.

The Fuzors Silverbolt and Quickstrike, like the Transmetals, were shown to be immune to Vok technology, seemingly possessing qualities of Transmetals.

Toys
In addition to the characters mentioned above, Transmetal toys were also produced for Rhinox, Airazor, Waspinator, Terrorsaur, and technically Inferno (the Scavenger toy was initially intended to be his TM form, and was so in Japan and the UK.) None of these appeared on the show.

Scorponok, Blackarachnia, and Dinobot, though also not Transmetal in the show, were given their own Transmetal toys as Happy Meal pack-ins from McDonald's. Claw Jaw and Spittor were redecoed and sold as Transmetals in European markets with a VHS tape.

Transmetal 2
Near the end of the series, a new breed, known as Transmetal 2s appeared. These new forms blurred the line between the mechanical and the organic even further, with equal parts of both appearing in both modes in an asymmetrical patchwork like jumble. This often resulted in somewhat monstrous looking designs.

Beast Wars animated series
Within the context of the television series, the idea of a Transmetal 2 was somewhat vague. Only Cheetor, Dinobot 2, and Blackarachnia were definitely meant to be Transmetals 2. Each of them was altered by an enigmatic piece of Vok technology known as the "Transmetal Driver" which appeared early in season three. The exact origin and nature of the Driver is unknown.

Optimus Primal and Megatron also received new bodies in season three, in the same fashion as each other, but only Megatron's toy was labeled as a Transmetal 2. (Optimal Optimus was a normal Transmetal.) It is unclear whether, within the story of the cartoon, these bodies were meant to be similar to the bodies granted by the TM Driver. Both of their new bodies were the result of temporarily merging their sparks with the sparks of their Generation 1-era counterparts, Optimus Prime and G1 Megatron.

Tigerhawk's toy was also labeled as Transmetal 2. His in-show origin involved both the fusing of two sparks, those of Tigatron and Airazor, and Vok technology.

The new forms for all of these characters, whether produced by the Transmetal Driver or by spark fusion, were portrayed as substantially more powerful than normal Transmetals.

Toys
According to their toy packages and bios, the Transmetals 2 were all the results of Megatron's cloning experiments. This roughly aligned with the beginning of the cartoon story, as the first Transmetal 2, Dinobot 2, was created by Megatron. This cloning experiment angle also helped to explain the presence of Optimus Minor.

Unlike Transmetals, most Transmetals 2 did not have a third mode. Only the largest Transmetal 2 toys, Tigerhawk and Megatron, were designed to have more than two modes, but Megatron's was never featured in the TV show and Tigerhawk's was dropped entirely even from the toy. Neither vehicle mode was especially well-implemented.

Early on in the release of TM2 toys, the packaging used a Roman numeral "II", but a running change in the packaging was made to the Arabic number "2".

IDW Beast Wars comic
In the IDW Beast Wars comics, a new group of Predacons traveled back to the Beast Wars era (taking place in the third season of the program around the episode "Changing of the Guard") and activated the remainder of the stasis pods ejected from the Axalon. The Transformers who emerged from these pods included normal beast-form Transformers, Transmetals, and Transmetals 2.

All the Beast Wars characters/toys not featured in the original cartoon (barring a few that traveled back with Magmatron) were given this same origin regardless of their "Transmetal" status. It was not explained why their states differed, nor why their situation differed from the non-Transmetal Earth-"born" Transformers in the show.
