I'd just like to say that the continued expansion of the Headmasters cartoon articles is pretty awesome... even if the episodes themselves are so not. THIS is the kind of shit that our wiki really needs to make it stand out... we got the dirt on EVERYTHING, not just "hey look I remember this guy from 1984". You can get information on Optimus Goddamn Prime anywhere on the web. A rundown of the Japanese episodes and incidental characters and bizarre powers?... :Ta, guv'nor! It just remains to see how long before I get distracted by something shiny and forget about 'em. As for Cross-Head On, I covered the process in the Transtector article (which I should update to remove that bit about the different Transtectors' powers. "Head On" doesn't deserve an article, it just being the plugging-in of the head, so I don't reckon the Cross-Head On warrants one either, really. Hi just wondering what you meant by your comment that the DVD got it wrong. The screen cap I posted was from the actual episode (not a DVD title screen) and it clearly shows the title as singular. ::::Really? I know I drafted a response at one point, i wonder if the posting service lost it...?
::::I believe the nature of my objection was that you needed to step back and say "Gee, all this story is doing is awkwardly affirming the Japanese backstory of the character, complete with bizarre footnotes saying 'it's true, check out a series of video games not available in english if you doubt me!' Unfortunately doing this doesn't actually make Ryo any less confusing because if he's a dimensional refugee- why the hell does he haf a father on tamers!Earth?" Basically, you were were given a forum- which is fine, and a subject you wanted to talk about- also fine, but rather than add to the universe, you used it as a soapbox to declare "Yes, the Japanese backstory counts, and I'm goign to gloss over it in a quick-to-the-point-of-incoherence summary!" As a result the DM Universe 'looks' exactly the same whether this story had been published or whether it hadn't. Now if you'd used the story to explain about Ryo's father (given Ryo's brief cameo on adventure!Earth in 02) that explanation would have added to the universe, explained a problem- and the Japanese fans would be saying to one another "Hey, there's this official story published by the limeys that fits between the last game and Tamers and explains some things! Scanlations PLZ!"
::::Darren was given 8 pages to tell a story, and rather than tell a cute adventure that would add to the universe (and we know it's possible to do a full story in as little as 3-5 pages, we've seen it done, repeatedly) the enormity of the opportunity instead overwhelmed him and he instead chose to the biggest, kewelest thing possible. There's no personal interaction in the story- Predaking, Devastator, Menasor and Bruticus clearly were not actually killed (despite what the story implies) the Beast goes crazy and then it stamped down with Grimlock vowing that they will never speak of this again under punishment of catapult. So basically-- nothing happened, and there's a fiat at the end saying 'and the beast will never again appear anywhere, ever.'
::::Even ignoring that a Dinogot gestaly is a dumb idea and that part of why the Dinobots were awesome that they were a non-combining sub-group tough enough to kick a combining sub-group's ass... even ignoring that The Beast dripped 'kewl' and 'x-treme' and 'badass' in ways that should be avoided on principle... the true crime is that the story basically never happened. If you took it away from the universe, continuity would look exactly the same, except it would lack the footnote 'Dinobots can combine, but they never ever do because the combiner is crazy.' No personal interactions, the actions in the story (the deaths of the 'cons) dont' actually occur so they're not even worth counting as having occoured. The story is pointless You could have accomplished the exact same thing with a 1-sentence note in a Dreamwave guide. "Dinobots can combine, don't." It's a generic battle with generic deaths and generic angst spun around a footnote. It accomplishes nothing other than establishing that footnote to be true while essentially saying 'but you can ignore it because it will never be used again.' And I don't think Daren would ever have chosen to tell that story if he hadn't been dazzled by the overwhelming opportunity and become consumed by a need to do something significant.
::::The result is that people love and passionately declaim the virtues of Linkage, which everyone everywhere accept is actually happening during the Armada cartoon, off-screen. By contrast for this other multi-part DVD pack-in story (with more pages per installment) is so looked-down on that even the wiki staff, who are completionist freaks who delight in documenting the weird and the stupid part of Transformers were saying "Yeah... can we just leave that out? DVD pack-ins don't count, they're like the profiles calling Cyclonus a Unicron, right?"
::::And it wasn't that I dislike affirming Ryo's japanese backstory? I thought it made for a bad story, and I think addressing why Ryo had a father could have been a good story in the same number of pages if you wanted to tell a story about Ryo jumping universes, and that story would have added to the universe. While I dislike the core concept, it's probably possible to tell a good story about the Dinobots having a combiner mode-- but this wasn't it. In both cases while events occour in both stories, they are completely inconsequential evens that serve merely to contain a editorial fiat saying 'this is true.' and I blame that response on the overwhelming urge to 'do something signifigant' when a fan-writer is given one shot to tell a story that overrides good sense and objectivity.
::::(That was more or less what I was going to post back then, even if google lost it. I trust you can see what I'm getting at even if you may choose to disagree.) -Derik 23:14, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
:::::Oh, I can totally see what you're getting at, all right. My goal, though, wasn't really to affirm Ryo's backstory, but more to tell people - "Hey, so, this exists." This was something that was real and official in Japan, but which next to nobody in the west knew about. Heck, had I the room, I would've totally tried to explain his dad - but that was a secondary concern to actually just putting the information out there. Funnily enough, the regular writer did something similar of his own accord when he summarized the first Tamers movie in an even more ham-fisted way than I did. - Chris McFeely 23:40, 10 July 2007 (UTC)
::::::So take one page out of the story about how Ryo has a father since he's dimension-hopping and do a 1-page fact-sheet at the end about the events aof the games which received only a passing reference in that story (footnoted to 'see the fact seet at the end for more info on this!')
::::::I'm also being way too harsh on this. I despise Monday morning quarterbacking because hindsight is 20/20, and it comes off like this guy.
::::::There's some correlary to Murphy's law about "once you start asking the wrong questions you will never find the right answer." Having decided to tell Ryo's game backstory, it's really hard to step back objectively and see it's not working. I'm not quite asshole enough to hold you feet to the fire for something that's a fundamental tragedy of human nature. :p
::::::Besides, you were being disingenuous when you said you had no editorial interference. Didn't they cut your length by 30% after you scripted it? Thus the whole story ended up compressed and you lost most of the shell sequence about Ryo coming to trust Cyberdramon more. I'm not thrilled with that story, since I think 'characters learn to trust one another' is boring and genric, but it did speak to Cyberdramon becoming much less unpredictable and dangerous in the anime vs. the games. So there was an attempt at telling a story to add to the universe- it just got mostly squeezed out. (And thus part of the reason I speak in generalities about the problems involved in fan-gets-one-shot, not all of which directly apply to you.)
::::::Man I miss Tamers, I should rewatch it. Was Savers any good? (I hated the first episode...) -Derik 00:55, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
::::::::Now, see, to me, that's doing it backwards. You're saying it oughta to have been about why Ryo had a father... with an addendum explaining the story that contains the problem with him having a father? You need to remember, out of the vast majority of kids picking this comic up, nobody knew this stuff. To explain away a problem in a story that no-one has read... well, that's just... backwards. You need to atually tell them the story first, so they can be aware there's even a problem that needs to be addressed. Re: the intereference, the bit about Ryo trusting Cybertron was actually more like what got added in to the story. My aim was to tell a story dealing with Ryo being torn out of his home universe, and trying to find a role or purpose for himself in a world not his own. This, then, would be my explanation for that "super-hero" personality he had in Tamers (which I had previously lampooned all to hell and back in fanfics). There's a vestigal reference to that in the final panel of the finished story, which is a total non-sequiter to anything else that happens in the story because it all got cut out because I was "witing over the heads of the target audience." Grmmble....
::::::::Oh, and I quite enjoyed Savers. But it was very far removed from all the other Digimon series and had a very different tone and approach that I could see not pleasing a lot of folks. - Chris McFeely 20:48, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
I'd just like to note "it can't happen in any established continuity" is because, well, basically it can't. Lack of quality aside, it has characters alive and active alongside others who were not around with them (for example, the Predacons), various deaths, etc. It just can't be wedged in anywhere without a metric shit-ton of ridiculous, speculatory to the point of being utterly made-up retcon. And for that we should be thankful. --M Sipher 00:42, 11 July 2007 (UTC)
:There should be a note that the Dinobot combiner is probably not part of most continuities, just like Cybertron is not internally configured to allow Primus to transform into robot mode in most continuities. ==Headmasters appearance lists==
On "Operation: Destroy the Decepticons", it's just a recap before the title card, as you suspected.

In "Duel on the Asteroid", there is an establishing shot of the interior of Spaceship Bruce's bridge. You can clearly see Fortress' back, and then there are four guys seated at a console further up who are too small to really distinguish. From the context and a later shot, it's clear that they are the four main Headmasters. But you can't really tell visually. So... I don't know exactly what rules you have been following when making your lists. I decided to put Fortress first, since he's quite recognizable, then Pointblank, and then the HMs when they get a closer shot. Feel free to modify if that's not the way you were doing things. Also, when they do appear, they are seating (L to R) Chromedome, Highbrow, Brainstorm, Hardhead, so I rearranged them from your ordering. Again, I don't know if that's how you were doing things or not. When the Decepticon Targetmasters first appear, on Fortress' screen ambushing Pointblank, I can't tell which of the two blue guys is which. I really completely disagree with labelling a character with his series even if there's no other character with the name. If other character gets the name, it's not all that difficult to move the page. Why make it look ugly when it doesn't have to? Singularity 06:47, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

I really completely disagree with you coming in and arbitrarily declaring a new naming system despite the fact that there was already a perfectly good one implemented across numerous pages already existing, myself. There's no reason to have to clean up behind people who can't spell "generations" and "timelines" without typoing when an abbreviated line description will do. And when another character gets named Hound, suddenly every single link to "Hound" has to be changed to "Hound_(G1)". Why is that a better idea than planning ahead to begin with?
Speaking for myself. LV

* I completely agree with LV. It's better to plan ahead than have to go back and fix a billion goddamn links, ESPECIALLY since there's, you know a MOVIE COMING OUT NEXT YEAR WITH A BRAND NEW CONTINUITY and all. Hooper X 06:56, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

So are we using (UT) or (Unicron Trilogy)? Also, what do we do about Blurr - both in Armada and Cybertron (arguably) as different characters? --User:Alexamar

Blurr's an interesting case. He actually has TWO bios. One that suggests he's a different character, and a separate one that only appears on the website which states outright he's the Armada guy. Both contradict his appearances on the television series. I would suggest merely noting this at the end of Blurr (UT)'s page. However, there ARE several names reused in the same continuity, like Silverbolt (BW), Barrage (G1), and Thunderblast (UT). When we stumble upon cases like these, an additional modifier should suffice, such as Silverbolt (BW) (Fuzor) or Thunderblast (UT) (Mini-Con). --User:ItsWalky

An encyclopedia is supposed to accommodate readers, not editors. A reader shouldn't be expected to know what the Hell "UT" means without looking it up, nor not snicker at "BM". If you were that enamored with the naming system, then perhaps you should've established it in a style guide to indicate some actual consensus; it doesn't really serve as a deterrent after the fact. Now there's some evidence of actual consensus, I'll back off on the naming issue. I'll suggest Silverbolt (BW Fuzor) and Thunderblast (UT Mini-Con), though. Singularity 19:47, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

I'm going to say that Thunderblast should have (UT) and (Mini-Con) instead of (UT Mini-Con) - as Thunderblast is both a Mini-Con and part of the UT, instead of an isolated group of (UT Mini-Cons). Same for Silverbolt - (BW) (Fuzor) instead of (BW Fuzor). BW Fuzor excludes all of BW and the other Fuzors... dig?
User:Alexamar

The following Cybertron names will need some way to be differentiated from other toys in the UT: Jolt, Armorhide, Brakedown Clocker and Override (aborted Magnus Mini-Cons), Spiral Backtrack and Oval (Street Speed Team, Cybertron and Armada), Downshift and Dirt Boss (UT and UT Mini-Con), Mirage (Armada & Energon), Wing Saber (Energon & Cybertron), Thundercracker (Armada & Cybertron), Swindle (Armada & Cybertron), Ransack (Armada & Cybertron), Buzzsaw, Thunderblast, Sideways, Crumplezone, Steamhammer, Payload, Thrust, Ramjet and Sunstorm.

Should we include things like Aaron Archer's nicknames for PX toys? Durge, Sprigger, Galaxy Shuttle, etc?
User:Alexamar

Spiral/Backtrack/Oval and Wing Saber are the same characters across the series, there is absolutely no need to differentiate. Thundercracker may or may not be the same character, same with Sideways. Also, no, Aaron's nicknames for the toys are unofficial and therefore have no place in the wiki.
User: M Sipher

Series Identifiers
Well, first off, we come up with an "official" Continuity Naming Schema (which will be pretty easy, let's do it now!), then we apply it as needed, with subsets as needed. (Silverbolt (BW) (Fuzor) vs. Silverbolt (BW) (Magnaboss)), etc. I wouldn't be opposed to mentioning Aaron's unofficial names in-passing as part of the overall article, as since they're Aaron's fan-canon, they're a noteworthy little footnote to the official product. There are quite a few things that I would consider misspellings, but I realize (realise?) that across the pond it's the correct spelling. ==Naming: article types==

There is a relatviely small number of "article types" that will encompass the majority of articles on this wiki. Currently, there is redundancy and a lack of naming cohesion. At some level, the actual article name isn't very important because people aren't going to be simply typing URLs into their browser to find an article -- they'll do a search. Still, I'd like the naming scheme to be simple and consistent.
Following are some of these very common article types, and examples of my suggestions for their naming, if I have one:

*Franchise - "Armada". No qualifier after the name.
*Toyline - "Armada (toyline)". Toyline is one word.
*Character - "Hot Shot (UT)". Put the character's continuity in parantheses. If more than one character with that name exists in its continuity, clarify as briefly as possible. It's not critical that these exceptions have a strict, consistent naming scheme.
*Toy - ?? I think a parenthetical "toy" is non-ideal. I'm not sure why it bothers me, but part if is is the lack of extensibility. I almost think that the toys for a particular character should be subpages of the character page, especially since some characters have multiple toys. On the other hand, that could lead to confusion in cases where it's not clear whether a toy "is" a particular character or not. (T-Wrecks toy as a subpage of Grimlock? Tripedacus Agent toy as a subpage of the Ravage (G1) character page?)
**I think that toy pages should be one of our lowest priorities when there are resources like http://www.tfu.info out there. There is no point in duplicating TFU.info's work when there is so much else for us to do here. Simply linking to the relevant toys on TFU.info at the end of each character article we write is plenty, I think, for the forseeable future.
*Comic series - "Armada (comic)". If more than one comic with the name exists, and one is significantly more well known the more well known one should get the (comic) entry. So, "Armada (comic)" is the Dreamwave comic and the Panini series would get a name something like "Armada (Panini)" or "Armada (Panini comic)".
*Comic issue - "Warrior School". Name of the issue. No qualifiers needed unless the name conflicts with other article names.
*Cartoon series - "Armada (cartoon)". Singularity moved a bunch of (cartoon) articles to (television series). I disagree with this for two reasons: First, "cartoon" is more brief. Second, "cartoon" can encompass things like an OVA or an animated movie that are not television series. This doesn't come up often, admittedly, but it allows things like the Robot Masters special and the Zone OVA to have acticle names that are parallel with the others.
*Cartoon episode - "Fire on the Mountain". Name of the episode. No qualifiers needed unless the name conflicts with other article names.

If anybody has thoughts on any of this, please say so.

Templates for "In such and such continuity..."
Many, many articles on this Wiki refer to characters or events that belong to a particular continuity or continuity family. Those articles really need to say what continuty they are relevant for. However, inserting language to this effect can be awkward. For consistency's sake, I feel as if the use of templates would be best here. Any article that refers to a specific continuity can simply call the appropriate template, something like: "This article refers to a character, event, or idea from the 'G1 comic' continuity. It may or may not be accurate for other continuities." At some level the qualifiers in the article name can do this job, but many articles won't have such a qualifier -- lead sulfide crystals for example.

Probably this would be best achieved with multiple templates, one per continuity, rather than a single template that accepts an argument. They could even be customized with toyline logos or somesuch. Meta-continuities or more generic continuity families would also need templates.

The drawback to this idea is that we will end up with a lot of templates. However, I think that is preferable to having scores of pages that begin with "In the Dreamwave Armada comic continuity..." or, worse yet, don't specify at all the range of their applicability.
Cybertronic/Cybertron/Cybertronian
"Cybertronic is an adjective, meaning "from Cybertron", generally used to describe a "futuristic" vehicle mode that is not a "real" Earth vehicle (or reasonable fascimile). Cybertron is a noun, meaning "an individual from the planet Cybertron", and Cybertronian is a noun and adjective, signifying a follower of the Liege Maximo. "

I've never heard anything about this before, where did they originate? --XBob

"Cybertron" was used in the Beast Wars episisode "The Spark." However, I don't think it was ever used again, and "Cybertronian" has been used in every occurance since. In light of that, I'm not sure why we're using "Cybertron" to describe a native of Cybertron. It's not only confusing, it's also really obscure. --ItsWalky 03:30, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

Cybertron is also used in BW Rampage's tech spec. I can't think of any other uses, and the Beast Wars cartoon later used Cybertronian in "Go With The Flow." Cybertronic, for XBob and anyone else who doesn't know, was used multiple times in the G1 cartoon.--KilMichaelMcC 04:00, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
'Cybertron' was used consistently throughout RiD. I think it's a useful term as long as you agree that there's an actual difference between Cybertronian and Cybertron. For instance: A Cybertron is actualyl fromt he planet Cybertron. A Cybertronian is OF the planet Cybertron, but not nevessarily a resident/native of it. Jhiaxus's G2 army was Cybertronian- many of them had never been to Cybertron. They were not 'Cybertrons.' It's a London/England thing. -Derik 10:05, 4 April 2006 (UTC)
:I think saying youc an onyl use Cybertronian for a Liege-dude is silly. That's just Cubertronian (faction) v. Cybertronian (djective.)
Ancient Cybertronian even! Which Starscream alone among the core Decepticons, IIRC, can leave. Poor Starscream- his status as a scolar/scientist is the one thing no one remembered to port over to the Unicron trilogy. So he's jsut an arrogant warrior who thinks he's better. G1 screamer at least had some serious schooling to him. -Derik 22:15, 4 April 2006 (UTC)

I'm inclined to say that these distinctions are... dumb. Cybertronian and Cybertronic are interchangable terms. Cybertron as referring to a Transformer is fine, but obscure, and probably better avoided for the sake of clarity. Cybertronian has much broader usage within the fandom and the canon than simply to refer to the G2 Decepticons, who honestly, I thought everybody just called "the G2 Decepticons". I am removing this section from the Style Guide for now, as most of the commenters seem to find it perplexing or unneccessary. I think this page should be moved out of the article namespace into the Meta (Transformers Wiki:) namespace. -Derik 01:10, 12 July 2007 (UTC)

:The style guide really seems like a "help" page to me, so I'd prefer to keep it in the Help namespace. (It's not in the article namespace.) I'd forgotten the meta namespace even existed... turns out we do have a Copyrights page hiding in there. (Which I guess you found, judging from the policies page.) I almost wonder if the Community Portal should also be moved into Help just for simplicity... Basically, I don't like the idea of our meta stuff being split between two different namespaces (Transformers Wiki and Help). It is confusing and complicated. It should all be in the same place. And "Help" is simpler to remember and type, and more self-explanatory. --Steve-o 02:11, 12 July 2007 (UTC)
How does one mark an edit as minor? Is this browser-dependent? I see no "minor edit" checkbox or button when I make edits.
It said something about moving so go ahead and do it then. If you move it its not my problem though.(159.83.4.150 23:01, 9 November 2007 (UTC))<div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki, a Wikia wiki.</small></div>

A mysterious manipulator, Alpha Quintesson has his tentacles spread wide, influencing the actions of both Autobot and Decepticon alike. He also has the command of armies of Terrorcon drones! His actual motives are unclear, but his goal is obvious; he plans to gather enough Energon to restore the shattered remains of the planet-devouring Unicron!
Among the many worlds that fell to the unending hunger of the world-eater, Unicron, was one little sphere known as Planet Q. This world would not go quietly, however, as its armies fought back valiantly, but it soon it became apparent that they would not be able to stop Unicron. The planet's grand chamberlain resigned himself to his world's fate, choosing a suicide ploy. The chamberlain instructed the planet's ruler to detonate Planet Q's core, but when the ruler could not, the chamberlain committed the act himself, destroying the planet as Unicron consumed it. The explosion failed to destroy Unicron, but it did heavily damage him, forcing him into a state of dormancy. And within Unicron's slumbering husk, the spark of Planet Q's ruler continued to exist.

Driven mad by the solitary existence over the ensuing years, the mind of Planet Q's ruler fractured, splintering into five separate personalities. From Unicron's body, it sculpted for itself a new, armored form out of the "bones" of his devoured subjects, with four rotating face masks, through which each one of his personalities found voice, with his fifth personality - his original, true face - hidden away inside him, speaking only when the armour was closed, concealing his face from view. But within the shattered mind of the insane being that now called itself "Alpha Q," a kernel of genius existed - Alpha Q had discovered that, through the power of energon, all that Unicron had consumed could be reconstituted. And so, using what little energon he had, he recreated the armies of Planet Q as the Terrorcons, and sent them to Earth to gather energon for his plan.

After the first few strikes by the Terrorcons, Alpha Q recreated the grand chamberlain in the form of Scorponok, in order to turn the Decepticons working with the Autobots to his side. However, when Megatron engineered his own resurrection, Alpha Q was forced to flee Unicron's body in his head, and subsequently made a failed attempt to destroy Megatron by using the last of his Energon to recreate Starscream. When Megatron flushed Scorponok out as Alpha Q's mole, Rodimus and his crew - whom Alpha Q had previously encountered and convinced of his plan - rescued him, leading to an alliance between Alpha Q and the Autobots, brokered by the human boy, Chad "Kicker" Jones. Alpha Q initially refused to work with Kicker, but Misha, through slightly kinder and more diplomatic words, was able to sway him. During Megatron's attack on Cybertron with Unicron's body, Alpha Q drove Unicron's head - now charged with the positive Energon of Earth - into the body, where it reacted with the negative Energon contained within, tearing open a fissure in space. In the new region of space that the fissure lead to, Alpha Q was able to recreate all the worlds, as he had set out to do, cultivating and sustaining them from his place within Unicron's head, which had now become a glowing energon sun. However, when Megatron succeeded in reactivating Unicron's body, he had it reclaim the chaos-bringer's head, extinguishing the sun and killing Alpha Q in the process.

Kicker recovered Alpha Q's body from within Unicron, and laid it to rest on Grass Planet. However, Alpha Q's spirit continued to observe and comment on events until the end of the conflict.

A point worth noting is that the strong affection Alpha Q feels for Scorponok is not displayed as clearly in Energon as it is in Superlink. During the episode Scorponok's Scars (which was never translated or shown in America), he repeatedly referred to Scorponok as "my Scorponok" and showed him images of their home planet in an effort to reverse Megatron's brainwashing. As well, during the Special Dream Match, Alpha Q responded to Scorponok's statement of "I don't know you" with "say I love you", showing what seems to be some sort of surrogate parent/child emotional connection.

(Pre-production materials for Super-Link offer further details on Alpha Q's history that did not make it into the final version of the series. His original, true form was originally conceived as being the human-form princess of Planet Q, a young girl whose face would be the fifth and final face of Alpha Q, that would eventually be revealed when Kicker would "shatter her shell." The materials note, however, that if Hasbro vetoed the idea, the princess would be replaced with either a young prince, or simply a ball of light. Whether this veto occurred is unknown, but what is certain is that none of this was officially established in the finished show, and Alpha Q's fifth face remains hidden inside his closed armor.

There are, however, some vague reference to this material in the series. In Superlink, when Alpha Q speaks with his true voice, it is the voice of a young child. In contrast, in these scenes in Energon, a multi-layered voice is use, professing to be the voice of all lives lost in Planet Q's destruction. The vision of Planet Q's destruction viewed by Kicker, which showns Alpha Q and Scorponok existing as the same robotic entities they are in the present day, would appear to contradict this notion, but the scene is specifically described with a modifier by Kicker as being how "Alpha Q remembers that day," leaving wiggle-room, since Alpha Q is absolutely out of his tree.)

Alpha Quintesson began the war over Energon by providing the Terrorcon group -led by Scorponok- with enhanced powers and "Hyper Modes", sending them to the undefended Earth to drain it of the newly-discovered pure Energon ore. At the same time, he sent his four Horsemen (three Autobots and a Decepticon that had been captured and brainwashed before Unicron was defeated ten years previous) to Cybertron to wreak havoc, preventing the Autobots from getting to Earth.

Unfortunately for Alpha, the Horsemen were repelled by the Omnicons and the newly-enhanced Autobots, which gave them the time needed to reach Earth and sink the Terrorcons' plans. For a time, Alpha Quintesson's involvement in the war was minimal, but when he returned, it was in a big way; unleashing thouseands of Terrorcon drones to decimate Los Angeles, Tokyo, Toronto and Moscow.

But the Decepticons weren't the only ones Alpha Quintesson was working with towards his goal of restoring the shell of Unicron. Perhaps more dangerous than the Terrorcons was Alpha Quintesson's hidden ally, Avalon, a member of the High Council, Cybertron's ruling body!

(The Energon comic ended before its storyline was completed due to the bankruptcy of Dreamwave, and as such, the extent of Alpha Quintesson and Avalon's planning is, and may likely remain, unknown. What little we know hinted that perhaps Alpha Quintesson was not entirely happy in his forced servitude to Unicron, and was making plans to rectify the situation.)

:One of the last toys in the Energon line, Alpha Quintesson is fairly unique in that he is one of the only toys in the main Transformers line that does not...well, transform in any manner. (The Action Masters had transforming partners and vehicles, but Alpha doesn't. Sucks to be him.)

:The main gimmick involves his three different faces; pressing a trigger on the toy's back switches from face to face. The bed of tentacles that serves as the toy's base uses a gear-wheel system to spin his three bendable tentacles around when the toy is rolled forward or backwards. He also has a spring-loaded missile launcher that can be mounted on one of the numerous 5mm-wide weapon-ports on Alpha Quintesson's body. Each of these ports also doubles as a mounting point for an Energon chip.

:The release of this figure was also unusual in that it was not uncommon for the figure to be incorrectly assembled. Many would come without the hard point where the figure connected to the base, making it nigh impossible for the toy to stand up on its own.
