Ever since her husband left her, '''June Darby''' has been raising her [[Jack Darby|sixteen-year-old son]] alone. When she's not spending time as a nurse at the [[Jasper Hospital|local hospital]], June's spending time being overprotective towards her son, who hangs out with warring robots from outer space. June called Jack after his shift at work finished. She asked if Jack was going to the dance, he said no. She told him to be careful but Jack had to go as he had [[Arcee (Prime)|something on his mind]]. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 1}}

June returned home from work late in the evening to find her son, [[Jack Darby|Jack]], standing with a [[Arcee (Prime)|motorcycle]] in their garage. She wondered how Jack had paid for the motorcycle, plus expressed her concern for his safety, but Jack was able to convince his mother that he was old enough and responsible enough to operate the vehicle. She made it very clear that he always had to wear his helmet.

Early the next morning, the motorcycle told Jack to leave a note for his mom when he left the house, to keep her from worrying. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 2}}

Hearing rumors that Jack had been racing his motorcycle, and complaints that he'd been neglecting his work and school, June confronted him after curfew and grounded him from using the motorcycle. The next day, she took a break from the [[Jasper Hospital|hospital]] to go home and make Jack some dinner, but found the garage empty. She blew up at Jack, even though the motorcycle had somehow reappeared in the garage, and he spun some wild story about robots from space. Refusing to believe him, June returned to the hospital. Later that night, as she was leaving work, she was grabbed and bundled into a vehicle by some [[MECH|masked goons]]. She recovered consciousness to find herself in a cocoon dangling from a building, while Jack tried to rescue her from a [[Airachnid|menacing robot]]. Then Jack's motorcycle turned up in robot form and fought the other robot. After [[William Fowler|Agent Fowler]] came to their rescue, he tried to explain that Jack was interning for him, but June didn't buy it. Jack introduced her to Arcee, and they all went to [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|base]] to meet the rest of the Autobots. {{storylink|Crisscross}}

June began regularly dropping by the Autobot base to check up on the kids, much to their regret. When Jack and Arcee were preparing for a routine maintenance check, June's overprotective questioning drove Arcee batty, and the Autobot instead opted to go out on a mission with Bulkhead. June stayed at the base, and when Arcee told an errant Miko to return there, Miko's loud comment that Arcee was as bad as Jack's mom could be clearly heard over the comm link. Taken aback, June asked if she was really that bad, and Jack declined to comment. On Arcee's return, June felt compelled to apologize for her earlier behavior. {{storylink|Metal Attraction}}

After Raf was injured in a Decepticon attack, Jack called in his mom to try and help. June did her best to stabilize the boy, but said that they'd need to get him to the hospital. [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] pointed out that the doctors there wouldn't know how to treat Dark Energon contamination, but he quickly came up with a treatment of his own. Following the rescue of Optimus, June informed him that she was taking Raf to the hospital, and also taking Jack and Miko with her, as the Autobots' war was no place for children. To her disappointment, both Jack and Miko refused to leave with her, so she departed in her car with Raf. They hadn't gone far when the car was almost struck by lightning and then they were almost pulled into a tornado, but [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] pulled a last-minute save and took them back to base. June was glad to see Jack again, but told him he was grounded. She stuck around while the Autobots realized that the Chaos God [[Unicron]] was at the center of the Earth, but realized that no one had any idea what Unicron would do next. {{storylink|One Shall Rise, Part 1}}

[[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus Prime]] is battling a small army of [[Unicron|Unicrons]] made from mountain rocks. Team Prime wishes to back him up, but Optimus belays the order, for as Prime he is the one Unicron is after. Team Prime, against his orders, decide to back him up, and [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]], [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]], and [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] arrive to the area by [[GroundBridge]]. Optimus is angry that they disobeyed him but Arcee reminds him that since he is Unicron's target he should retreat back to base. Optimus tells them that Unicron can find him anywhere and that it would only be a matter of time before Unicron finds him even if he hid at the base. Arcee then asks him to let them take the lead, which he allows. They fight the Unicrons until a giant Unicron rises from the ground and comes close to killing Optimus before several blasts knock its head off. [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] reveals himself to have fired those shots.

After Optimus and Megatron do their usual archnemesis banter, Megatron reveals the reason why he's there. He wants to team up with the Autobots to destroy Unicron. The Autobots question this truce but Megatron assures them that he is the only one who can lead them to Unicron and that Optimus, the last Prime, is the only one who can defeat him. Optimus deduces that since Unicron is at the center of the planet they will have to GroundBridge to the Earth's core, much to Ratchet's dismay. This also means that they will need to GroundBridge Megatron to base.

Back on the ''[[Nemesis (Prime)|Nemesis]]'', [[Airachnid]] tells [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] that it seems that Megatron has abandoned them since he has been gone so long and that they should begin looking at a future without him.

Listening back at base, [[Jack Darby|Jack]] wonders if they can't just transport Unicron out of the core, but [[Raf Esquivel|Raf]] and [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] tell him that he '''is''' the Earth's core and that messing with him could bring the destruction they're trying to avoid. Optimus agrees and believes that the only way to destroy Unicron is for him to unleash the full power of the [[Matrix of Leadership]] onto Unicron's spark. Ratchet explains to Fowler and Jack that the Matrix is the combined power of all the Primes and that it exists within Optimus Prime himself.

Before they can discuss any further another giant Unicron rise from the ground. Optimus calls for a GroundBridge and Megatron stays behind to distract Unicron as the Autobots go back to base. They argue about the details of Megatron coming to base and finally decide to bridge him to their base. Jack wonders what will happen to Optimus when he unleashes the power of the Matrix; Optimus does not give him a direct answer but tells them that he is willing to do what is needed to be done and that the rest of the Autobots will carry on. Optimus calls in Megatron and the Decepticon finishes off Unicron's rock giant and enters the base. After Megatron banters with the Autobots and the humans, everything is set for them to leave. But before they go, Optimus meets with Jack in private and expresses how impressed he is with how much Jack has grown since they first met. Optimus entrusts him with the key that controls the GroundBridge operations until he returns.

*When Raf runs out to confront Megatron in the Autobot base, Arcee puts herself between the humans and the Decepticon leader to keep the latter from possibly harming the former. However, a few screen cuts later when Jack and the rest are walking back, we see Megatron behind Jack, but no Arcee standing between them.
*When using the Ground Bridge to go into Unicron, Optimus is the last one to enter the Ground Bridge, yet is the first Autobot to appear behind Megatron when they get out of the Ground Bridge.
*When Unicron's head is suddenly destroyed, Ratchet asks what happened. Megatron then answers "I happened," as if he could hear Ratchet through Arcee's COM link frequency, even though it's an isolated signal that only she (or the Autobots in general) should be able to hear.
