:Rhinox is a Transcendent Technomorph in TransTech continuity.

In a very old universe populated by highly-evolved Transformers, Rhinox is Axiom Nexus's Minister of Higher Dimensional Sciences. He has studied the multiverse for eons, identifying universal streams and cataloging new splinter timelines.

If that's a scientist, I'd hate to see your military units.

Fiction
TransTech
When a group of six interdimensional travelers found themselves in the multiversal hub city of Axiom Nexus by mistake, they spoke of the extra-dimensional Cataclysm that threatened their entire universe. To hopefully help explain this occurrence Optimus Prime and Megatron called on the expertise of Rhinox. After some quick data analysis, Rhinox was able explain the source of the travelers' cataclysm—their universe was being replaced by another, due to an unusual shatterpoint caused by the appearance and destruction of Unicron, the destruction of Primus' avatar, a tainted Matrix, as well as an unidentified earlier event.

Though the source of the travelers' cataclysm was found, there was nothing Rhinox or the other TransTech could do for them. Withered Hope

Some time later, Rhinox detected "multiple phenomena across corresponding clusters," even in universal streams long thought destroyed. Rhinox traced the activity back to Primax 207.0 Epsilon in general and its universe's Overlord ip particular, along with an invasion force form Primax -408.24 Epsilon. Invasion Prologue
The Transcendent Technomorphs register a largescale multiversal event that they trace back to one universe's Overlord.

Synopsis
In his control room in Axiom Nexus, the Transcendent Technomorph Rhinox detects alarming "multiple phenomena" across corresponding clusters, including universal streams long thought destroyed. The TransTech look at the past solar cycle for irregularities, leading them to Primax 207.0 Epsilon, where they find an Overlord.

They watch Overlord leading a charge on Ironworks for the Autobot's Rarified Energon. Metalhawk comes to the rescue, and helps force the Decepticons into retreat. The TransTech realize that rarified energon, which is unique to this universe, may be related to the current multiversal crisis. They fast forward ahead to see three shadowy figures emerge into the universe. Megatron wonders what the visitors' origin is, but Optimus Prime already knows: Primax -408.24 Epsilon. The evil Autobots have finally discovered the means to cross dimensional barriers. Optimus Prime notes that with two mirror universes in conflict, the balance of the multiverse is no longer what they once knew, as a delegation of Primes across the multiverse arrives at his request.
Notes
Errors
* The plural of "phenomenon" is "phenomena". This was corrected in a later revision.
* Octopunch was quickly edited to be in his Marvel colors 'cuz David Willis is a whiny bitch.

Transformers references
* Rhinox is surprised that Primax 1291.0 Zeta (the "Another Time & Place" universal stream) is no longer destroyed. He previously announced its destruction in "Withered Hope", wherein it was announced that the universe (and the Tonka GoBots' universe) had been displaced by Primax 207.0 Epsilon (the Classicsverse).

Trivia
*Artist Mangin drew fan-character "Ursa Magnus" into the background of panel 2. While this was (sort-of) called out in the script, it went unnoticed by the editor, who upon later learning of its existence clarified it as an Easter egg shout-out to a fan.
*Pete Sinclair says that three of Gigatron's Decepticons remain offpanel.

The Elder Gods are a race of cold, alien, and evil intelligences that exist in the non-spacetime of swirling anti-matter "outside" our universe. Possibly dwarfing even Unicron in terms of power, their limitless abilities are checked only by their inscrutable motivations and indifference to the affairs of lesser egregores that grow in the warm and wet hothouse of time and space we so arrogantly call "reality".

Fiction
Cybertron comic
Ramjet was cast adrift between dimensions when Unicron's form imploded into a black hole. He found himself in the realm of the "ancient gods" who repeatedly destroyed and re-created his body from the inside out while toying with his spark. Bored, they cast him back into the universe he had come from. Ramjet (Universe) Ramjet then sought out his fellow herald Nemesis Prime and journeyed to the dimension in which Unicron was trapped. Balancing Act

As a result of his encounter with the ancient gods, Ramjet's body was now composed of antimatter held together by the force of his will, he had a permanent connection to non-space, and his body occasionally manifested little... tentacle-things.

Infestation 2
Despite being trapped in their dimensional prison, the Elder Gods had the power to reach out to sensitive beings. Among them was Howard Lovecraft, who channeled the Elder Gods' call into horror prose. Despite the clandestine organization, Oblivion, succeeding at killing Lovecraft before his art could threaten to allow the Elder Gods into the universe, his stories spread into popular culture. This collective imagination, with the help of Artillica, let loose the Elder Gods. Free and unencumbered, they rampaged along the multiverse. Infestation 2 issue 1
