Unicron attacked it in 2003 after escaping the Unicron Battles incident. Unicron ended up in an alternate dimension and devoured Quintessa's entire universe before turning on Planet Q. Unicron's damage due to Quintessa's explosion sent him back into 'this' universe, at the very edge of the universe, and he fell into stasis.

Waiiit. Does this... wait. I'm tryign to wrap my head around this.

In the year 2007, after a triple-assload of time-travel beginning in the year 2003... the second half of the Binaltech continuity was rendered a self-nullifying timeloop-- but instead of being erased, it brached off of the original cartoon continuity early in the year 2005-- in the cartoon the Decepticons conquered Cybertron. In the Binaltech-U the Autobots did so, and eventually used the "off switch" to turn off just the Decepticons.

And this resulting Alternity branch timeline is NOT known as Primax 207.28 Beta (for the story where the branch occurred in 2007) OR Primax 1286.5 Kappa (for the first fictional element published in that universe in 1986) but instead is designated Primax 903.0 Beta... for the 2003 story that occurred in both Alternity continuity and the main Japanese continuity?

...well, I suppose the designations are an Axiom nexus thing. Logistically that makes sense... It just hurts my brain because it's not named after the actual 2005 branch-point... -Derik 18:25, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
:By and large, yes. Except precisely how much of the Binaltech storyline actually did occur in the main Japanese continuity is terribly unclear. It didn't just suddenly branch off with Operation: Distant Thunder, the implication is that the Binaltech project fizzled out some time earlier than that, and a lot of what happened in the story never took place in the main timeline. As such, Ichikawa seems to have just given it the earliest clarifiable designator. That is not to say, mind you, that I don't think Ichikawa isn't quite using the universal stream designators correctly - after all, "Kiss Players" isn't its own universal stream, it's part of the main J-continuity, and yet here it's got its own designator. But then Sipher and Trent already did something similar with the Headmasters cartoon too, in "I, Lowtech," so perhaps these are just alternate branching versions of the series-as-we-know-them. - Chris McFeely 06:43, 14 October 2009 (EDT)

Two quibbles
Alternity beigns can't enter the timestream prior to the date when Alternity began existing, right? Isn't that the reason for the Protectors? I take that to be the only reason these characters can't interact with Return of Convoy, wince it takes place in 2005. Furthermore, I think this black Megatron is pretty blatantly the one from Return of Convoy. Does that make sense?
Also, shouldn't Primax 406.3 Eta be the bios for both Protoform Optimus and Starscream? Chip 21:58, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
:Primax means it's G1 continuity family. 4 means April, 06 means 2006, 3 means the third day, Eta means radio drama. Thus, Kiss Players.--RosicrucianTalk 22:38, 13 October 2009 (EDT)
Yeah, I wasn't 100% sure (after all, we saw Magnus looking at Prime's dead body, and Prime didn't die in the Alternity's origin universe), but now I am, this isn't the Megatron I thought it was. - Chris McFeely 06:43, 14 October 2009 (EDT)
