Knock Out and Jack are both drawn into the world of street racing.

Synopsis
Cruising along a road at night, Knock Out listens to a news report about illegal street racing. Switching it off, he pulls up alongside three other cars waiting to race. The driver of one decides to put a long scratch in Knock Out's paintwork, rousing the Decepticon's ire. After the race starts, Knock Out runs the other driver off the mountain road, informing the stunned human, "You scratch my paint, I scratch yours," before racing off.

Outside the high school, Jack encounters school bully Vince, who mocks Arcee's vehicle mode. Jack and Arcee leave, but while stopped at a traffic light, Jack's called out to by Sierra, who's keen on a ride. Before Jack can answer, Vince pulls up and challenges him to a race. Jack's still thinking about it when the light changes and Arcee takes off, reminding Jack of the rules about abusing their power. Vince catches up with them at the next light and insults Arcee's motorcycle mode, goading her to suspend the rules, just this once. The pair let Vince know they're ready for the race, and Sierra and her friend turn out at an old dirt road to spectate. Arcee's driving abilities far outstrip Vince's, and they win easily, but Arcee turns down Jack's suggestion that they should offer Sierra a lift.

On the Nemesis, Breakdown is buffing the comatose Megatron. Starscream wanders in to check on the patient and wonders aloud where Knock Out's got to. The 'Con himself walks in a few moments later, complaining about the scratch some "skinjob" put in his finish. Starscream is most disapproving that Knock Out's been street racing again, though what really annoys him is Knock Out's failure—and glib refusal—to refer to Starscream as "Lord".

Back at base, Arcee reminds Jack not to tell anyone about the race, but it turns out Miko and Raf already know, having heard about it at school. Jack swears them to secrecy.

At school, Sierra tells Jack she was impressed with the outcome of the race, but Vince challenges Jack to race again, this time at the circuit. Jack's compelled to agree, but Arcee flatly refuses to race.

Knock Out is out cruising a road somewhere near Jasper, when a speeding street racer car gets his attention, and he heads toward the town.

Jack asks Raf if he can borrow Bumblebee so he can go street racing. Raf isn't so sure (much to Bumblebee's dismay), but Miko and Jack talk him into it. Jack and Bumblebee haul up at the race track, as does Knock Out. As the race begins and Bumblebee and Vince jostle for lead position, Knock Out recognizes Bumblebee and begins chasing the Autobot while firing. Jack finds he has problems overcoming the communications barrier with 'Bee.

Back at base, Miko and Raf are playing a video game when Arcee asks them if they've seen Jack. They attempt to cover for their friend, but Arcee immediately works out what's up, and a short time later, Bumblebee's distress call comes though.

Bumblebee dumps some oil to slow Knock Out down, then ducks under a bridge. At first, it seems they've lost the Decepticon, but Vince hauls in to confront Jack and demand he finish the race. Jack tries to warn Vince of the danger, but Vince's headlights have attracted Knock Out, who grabs the boy, renders him unconscious, drives off. Knock Out contacts Breakdown to announce he's captured Bumblebee's human "friend". Arcee and Bulkhead join Bumblebee, but before Arcee can start a lecture, Jack tells her about Vince, and they head off to mount a rescue.

Optimus Prime walks into the base and wonders where everyone else is. Raf and Miko give him the least convincing replies ever.

The three Autobots track Knock Out to a warehouse area, and Bulkhead and Bumblebee stroll in while Arcee scales a nearby water tower. Bulkhead and Bumblebee are ambushed by Breakdown. Just as Knock Out is wondering where Arcee is, she jumps on top of him. Knock Out decides to bail, but at least has the courtesy to radio Breakdown and let him know. Unfortunately, the call distracts Breakdown long enough for Bulkhead to deck him with a street lamp. Knock Out streaks down a road with Arcee in pursuit, but is suddenly sideswiped by Optimus, who knocks him onto the embankment. With the 'Con unable to flee, Optimus rips his door off and retrieves the unconscious Vince. Knock Out is outraged at the damage done to him, but retreats when the rest of the Autobots arrive. Vince finally recovers in Bumblebee on the way back to his car, and Jack spins a story to cover the whole thing.

Starscream is very upset with Knock Out's antics. Knock Out assures Starscream that he's learned his lesson and paid the price. Unfortunately for Knock Out, he once again addresses Starscream as "Commander" instead of "Lord", so Starscream gives him some more scratches as punishment.

At school again, Sierra asks Jack for a ride, but he turns her down. Arcee, however, is feeling more accommodating—just this once—and soon Jack and Sierra are zooming through town.
Notes
Animation and technical errors
*Sierra and her friend hold their books back-to-front. This is not uncommon.
*When Jack and Arcee stop at the second traffic light, Arcee's front wheel is shown not moving at all, as if it were sliding on the asphalt instead of spinning.
*When Arcee and Jack drive along the street (while debating Jack's decision to accept Vince's second challenge), all the traffic lights are shown as if they were upside down; red lights are in the place of green lights and vice versa.
* Like in the previous episode, the clear parts of Arcee's chest are pink.
*While Knock Out drives away (after kidnapping Vince), and Jack turns to talk to Bumblebee, the former's rear-lights are white instead of red.
*Simply driving on oil, or bumping into another car, would not make any car spin-out. However, we see this many times in T.V. shows and in movies.

Continuity errors
*Despite school just getting out, when Jack, Vince, and Sierra are talking, the roads are empty.
*Vince challenges Jack to a race on a "dirt road", but the road they race on is sealed and marked.

Real-world references
*Knock Out calls Fast Willy a "skinjob," a derogatory slang term used to refer to the human-like Cylons in the 2004 re-imagining of Battlestar Galactica, itself an homage to Blade Runner.
*Vince refers to Jack as "Ponch", a motorcycle-based reference to Erik Estrada's cycle-riding cop character from CHiPs.
*Knock Out calls Starscream "Herr Kommandant", a reference to Hogan's Heroes.
* "Drucker's Ranch" is presumably a reference to Steve Drucker, longtime Hasbro creative person.
Trivia
* This is the first episode to premiere on a Saturday.
* Several of the other street racing cars in this episode are simply recolored variations of Bumblebee and Cliffjumper's alternate modes (sans horns in the case of the latter). Hello, easy redecoes!
* At least two of said cars never actually leave the starting line once the race begins.
* Sierra's friend continues to remain nameless, despite having appeared in more episodes than Sierra herself at this point. This girl really needs to introduce herself!
* Bumblebee's license plate is 936 SOH.
*How Many Rule 'No. #1's can the Autobots have?
*In point-of-fact, it may have been better for Knock Out to stay with Breakdown rather than leave, seeing as he lost a door in addition to a nasty scratch.

Quotes
"Uh, Jack? A lady's vital stats are her own business."
:—Arcee doesn't want Jack bragging about the different aspects of her body.

"Winning isn't enough, Jack. You want to make him cry."
:—Arcee explains her method of getting even.

"No worries, herr commandant."<br>
"It is 'Lord' to you."<br>
"Only if Megatron takes a nosedive."<br>
"Hhhnnn. The day our master emerges from stasis, I will graciously relinquish the title. But I believe that outcome is unlikely. Something to do with the quality of medical care around here. So continue buffing. We do want Megatron looking his best for the memorial."<br>
(Starscream leaves the room.)<br>
"Buff this."
:—Knock Out and Starscream don't exactly see eye-to-eye.

Arcee: Have you guys seen Jack?<br>
Miko: ...not since we last saw him.<br>
Arcee: They're racing, aren't they?<br>
Raf: Just this once.<br>
Arcee: Did you know about this?<br>
Bulkhead: NO. Maybe. A little.
:—No one on Team Prime can lie.

"'Bee, do not engage. Your first priority is to keep Jack safe. [murmurs] Until I get my hands on him."
:—Arcee is a scary guardian.

Raf: We should just tell Optimus the truth.<br>
Miko: Absolutely not! We made a deal. Just act completely normal.<br>
Optimus: Raf, Miko, do either of you know where the others have gone?<br>
Miko: Why, no, sir. We do not know.<br>
Raf: (stiffly) Miko is correct. We do not know.<br>
Miko: Why would we know?<br>
Optimus: Hmm...
:—Seriously, it's a minor miracle the kids haven't blown their cover with their parents yet.

"Do you know how hard that is to replace?!"
:—Knock Out loses a door to Optimus Prime.

"Knock Out! Was I not clear? You have defied my orders yet again!"<br>
"My mistake, Commander Starscream. But, I've learned my lesson... and paid the price.<br>
"It. Is. LORD! And you have paid when I say you have paid! [extends a sharpened finger] Do not worry, your punishment shall be merely... cosmetic."<br>
"No, not the finish! Anything but the finish! [the "cosmetic punishment" begins offscreen] NNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
:—<s>Commander</s> LORD Starscream reminds Knock Out where he stands.

* Bumblebee's license plate is 936 SOH.
*How Many Rule 'No. #1's can the Autobots have?
*In point-of-fact, it may have been better for Knock Out to stay with Breakdown rather than leave, seeing as he lost a door in addition to a nasty scratch.

* Bumblebee's license plate is 936 SOH.
*How Many Rule 'No. #1's can the Autobots have?
*In point-of-fact, it may have been better for Knock Out to stay with Breakdown rather than leave, seeing as he lost a door in addition to a nasty scratch.
:Swindle is a Decepticon Combaticon from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Capitalist first, Decepticon second, Swindle is a con-man, an opportunist, a hustler—or as he would put it, an entrepreneur. Unlike his fellow Combaticons, he considers the Autobot-Decepticon war to be merely an opportunity for networking, cutting deals, and making profit. He's an expert on all manner of weaponry and their market prices, and he prides himself on being able to sell anything to pretty much anybody. All he needs is a smile.

Swindle can combine with the other Combaticons to form Bruticus.

Swindle was one of the five renegade Decepticons liberated by Starscream in the Air Commander's latest attempt to unseat Megatron. As an element of their imprisonment, they had been reduced to mere personality components, so Starscream installed them into abandoned World War II military vehicles. Swindle in particular was put in a Willys Jeep, and unlike his teammates, he didn't immediately reconfigure himself into a different vehicle form. Starscream called them "Combaticons" and announced their names as they transformed, but they didn't recognize him. Nor did they feel particularly indebted to him for their release; in the end, Starscream only guaranteed their loyalty though having given them bodies bereft of energy absorbers, so they would be dependent upon him to refuel. While their first missions for Starscream were initially successful, the Stunticons' intervention meant the brigade's defeat, and Megatron exiled all six to a remote asteroid. Starscream's Brigade

The Combaticons later escaped the asteroid and attacked Cybertron together as Bruticus. After being defeated again, Swindle and the Combaticons were reprogrammed to be loyal to Megatron. It's debatable how well that reprogramming took with Swindle. The Revenge of Bruticus

Megatron next ordered the Combaticons to steal fighter planes by using Middle-Eastern criminals as go-betweens. Swindle was the personal ride of Ali, the thief leader, and led the caravans with parts to Megatron. He later merged with the others to form Bruticus, who was defeated by the Aerialbots as Superion. Aerial Assault

Bruticus was next defeated by Defensor, and Swindle was the sole survivor of the team. He proceeded to sell the parts of his comrades to various people for a sweet finder's fee. Megatron was less than happy with this, however, as he had just constructed a giant death-ray for Bruticus to wield for him. No Combaticons, no Bruticus. Swindle tried to plead off his greed as a programming flaw, but Megatron wasn't having any of it. He installed a bomb in Swindle's head and gave him 15 hours to rebuild his fellow Combaticons or suffer their fate. Later, Swindle, along with Motormaster and Laserbeak, finally became so dissatisfied with Galvatron's leadership that he openly grumbled that the Autobots would be doing the Decepticons a favor by killing Galvatron. Cyclonus interpreted this as treason, but Swindle brushed him off. On another occasion, Swindle singlehandedly infiltrated Metroplex for Galvatron and miraculously managed to fend off a lone Autobot pacifist like First Aid to steal the city-bot's transformation cog. After returning from his mission, though, Swindle's greed got the best of him, and he attempted to make Galvatron bid for the cog. After Megatron put a bomb in his head, why Swindle thought bargaining with the even less stable Galvatron was a good idea is anyone's guess. Lucky for Swindle, Galvatron was in one of his less manic phases at the time and only blasted the greedy Combaticon a few times instead of ripping out his primary fuel pump with his teeth. The Ultimate Weapon
Thanks to the Decepticons' efforts, the Central City Institute of Technology thought they were upgrading the Autobot Trailbreaker, only to have Swindle come online instead. Swindle's bait-and-switch wasn't totally effective, though—the Binaltech warriors only had their weaponry fully equipped and activated after coming online and arriving at Autobot City, so Swindle was not equipped with functioning versions of Trailbreaker's force field and other abilities, having to instead outfit himself with armaments from his own munitions depots. He was also banned from the Binaltech electro-cell recharging centers after his ruse was uncovered, and therefore had to rely on the Exponential Generator technology provided by Starscream's human ally, Doctor Arkeville. ====Generation 1====
noteukonly
Thanks to his brief time housing the Matrix in his mind, Buster Witwicky experienced a series of dreams outlining the future of Cybertronian technology: the Special Teams. These dreams were random and chaotic at first, as he was chased through his dreamscape by Combiner robots and witnessed the Combaticons merge into Bruticus. After Optimus Prime joined Buster in his dreams, the information became more linear, and the Autobot and human beheld a future scenario in which Swindle and the Combaticons joined forces with the Stunticons against the Protectobots and the Aerialbots. Working off this information, Wheeljack began to conceive a way to reverse-engineer and improve upon Devastator's combination technology. Unfortunately for the Autobots, Soundwave had managed to tap into Buster's dream frequency, and the Decepticons received the same information to build their own Special Teams. Second Generation!

The Combaticons joined Megatron on a mission to invade the company Energy Futures Industries in order to steal a hydrothermocline, which the Decepticons wanted to take for their own energy resources. Swindle soon accompanied his fellow Decepticons to a new base in the Caribbean, at which time Megatron disappeared and Shockwave assumed command of the Earth-bound Decepticons. Shortly afterwards, Shockwave dispatched Swindle and the other Combaticons to assassinate Galvatron, who was buried under lava at Mount Verona, but they were defeated by a trio of human women and the Throttlebots. Ladies' Night (issue)

Swindle (and the other Combaticons) battled Defensor on several occasions, though without great success. He had better success during the Decepticon ambush of the Autobots on the Moon, where the Autobots had gathered to resolve a leadership dispute. Swindle attacked Brawn with his Scatter Blaster and commented that although Brawn was not a great Autobot warrior, he would have a bright future as spare parts (presumably to be sold at a premium by Swindle himself). When the combined forces of Blaster and Grimlock managed to pierce the ship's protective force field, Ratbat commanded all Decepticons on the surface of the Moon to return to the ship and retreat. Totaled!
He was later seen briefly as part of the first wave of defenders when the Warworld was attacked by the next-generation Cybertronians commanded by Jhiaxus after the Autobots and Decepticons had forged an alliance of necessity against said forces. Swindle's fate was not revealed, but considering the Cybertronian troops—led by the traitor Starscream—killed several Decepticons and ultimately overtook the battleship, it didn't look too good for Swindle. Total War!

Dreamwave comics continuity
Swindle sided with Starscream when the Seeker tried to usurp command of the Decepticons from Megatron (what a surprise) shortly after the onset of the Cybertronian civil war. He assisted in the interrogation of Laserbeak instead of joining Shockwave in the assault upon Iacon.

Millions of years later, Swindle, along with his fellow Combaticons, was imprisoned by Shockwave, presumably as war criminals under the terms of the new peace treaty with the Autobots. He was sprung by Starscream after the Nemesiss crew returned to Cybertron, though. Wonder what that cost him. Starscream then brought the inactive Combaticons with him to Earth and gave them new modes based on deactivated vehicles from a nearby abandoned military testing ground.

When Sunstorm appeared on Earth, the battered Combaticons were ordered by Starscream to combine into Bruticus and deal with the crazed zealot. It did not end well. Black Sunshine
The repaired Combaticons were brought to Guadalcanal, where they could hone their somewhat lackluster combat skills and listen to Starscream's long-winded aspirations of glory. When Swindle commented on Starscream's mental state, Brawl agreed, stating that he'd like to pull the Air Commander's cerebro circuits straight out of his faceplate so they could get a better look at them, to which Swindle suggested a "deal" for this to happen. Starscream overheard their conversation and informed the smaller Decepticon that the only "deal" he needed to worry about was how Starscream would deal with Swindle for his scheming. Starscream nevertheless let it pass for the moment in order for the Combaticons to test themselves against the magnificent Autobot Sky Lynx. Unfortunately, the Combaticons did not fare well when the crafty Autobot split into his two forms, with Swindle, Brawl and Onslaught nearly getting crushed by the Lynx's right paw.

This was the least of their troubles, however, as Predaking showed up as soon as Sky Lynx was deactivated. As the Combaticons closed in on the Predacon combiner, Swindle had trouble keeping up with the rest of the group before they formed Bruticus. This encounter also did not end well. The Route of All Evil
Later, Swindle was the target of a Autobot group let by Orion Pax in the streets of Nyon, where he was selling stolen Autobots materials to some sleepers. He fought against Orion Pax, who quickly overpowered him and ordered him to give more details about Megatron. However, Swindle preferred to explain how the Decepticons were about to bring Cybertron to a new era, freed from oppression and corruption, and how, by using uncontrolled violence, Orion Pax was proving him right. The latter, about to shoot Swindle in the head, was stopped by Bumblebee, and Swindle was captured alive. Law and Disorder When he failed to provide any useful intel on the Decepticons during interrogation, Zeta Prime decided to use Swindle as an example of the vamparc ribbon's power. In modern times, Swindle was an arms dealer being hunted down by Ultra Magnus for violating the Tyrest Accord. Quite some time later, Swindle was one of several Decepticons who were stranded on Earth after Megatron's defeat in New York City. Swindle then joined a small band of other stranded Decepticons. At first, the group tried to follow the high-ranking Thundercracker, but his disenchantment with the Decepticons and the war led them to fall in behind Swindle, the fast-talking cheat, the one who could always survive against all odds. Seasons in Flight For three months Swindle led them into a canyon where they stalked the mighty Autobot Omega Supreme, waiting for a chance to strike. However, when they observed a group of Autobots led by Hot Rod in discussions with Omega, Swindle realized he could fool the hot-headed and naive Autobot for his own designs. Launching a seemingly ill-conceived attack on the Autobots, Swindle quickly manipulated Hot Rod by asking the very question that had been on the Autobot's mind: What were they fighting about? What reason was there to continue fighting? Posing these questions to all the assembled transformers, Swindle proposed an alliance between the two groups with the aim of getting off-planet. New Arrivals, Old Encounters After the alliance was made, while Hot Rod tried to enlist the assistance of Jetfire to help them build their starship, Red Alert and Mirage had their doubts about working with the Decepticons, and Swindle grinning at them didn't improve their mood any. A Rude Awakening

While their ship was under construction, Swindle attempted to pressure Hot Rod into allowing the Decepticons to retrieve the Constructicons who had been imprisoned by Skywatch, but Hot Rod wisely refused. Seeing this path going nowhere, Swindle instead suggested the Stunticons rescue Breakdown, and before Hot Rod was able to voice opposition, Swindle smoothly massaged Hot Rod's ego, claiming the Autobot was the "architect of a new age", that the others admired him and, and that these "followers" had given him a new moniker: "Rodimus Prime". With Hot Rod distracted by these praised and accolades, Swindle was given the go-ahead to rescue Breakdown. Unfortunately, as he was discussing his plans with the Stunticons, Ultra Magnus showed up, forcing Swindle to hide. When Magnus discovered and tried to arrest the Decepticon criminal, "Rodimus Prime" stepped in and refused to allow his fellow Autobot to capture Swindle. The Decepticon was seemingly grateful to Rodimus, but Thundercracker knew he was up to something, but wasn't sure what. Seasons in Flight

Soon afterwards, the Stunticons successfully rescued Breakdown from the clutches of Spike Witwicky, an officer in Skywatch. Bringing him back to base, Swindle worked on Breakdown for over three hours, under the pretense that the battered Decepticon needed significant repairs, much to the ire of the Autobots, bar the ever-naive Hot Rod. Ultra Magnus returned, this time with Bumblebee and several of his Autobots. When the Autobots started arguing, Swindle stepped in, revealing that the Decepticons had always planned to steal the space ship after killing as many Autobots as they could. When Ultra Magnus countered that the Autobots had them outnumbered, Swindle unveiled his latest creation—the Stunticons combined into the powerful gestalt Menasor. Heavily damaged, Swindle climbed from the impact crater and watched in horror as Prime led the Autobots against Menasor, resulting in the destruction of the escape ship. Returning to America, Swindle created Ben Simpson, a facsimile construct who would act as a spokesman of the anti-Transformer group Earth's Children. <blockquote>"Three times the Swindle means three times the deal.
Come on down, it's a total steal!"</blockquote>
To distinguish the Swindles, they have the following designs:

*Swindle the first: Generation 2 Swindle.
*Swindle the second: Generation 1 Purple-chested (die-cast version) Swindle.
*Swindle the third: Generation 1 Grey-chested (all plastic) Swindle.

Wings Universe
Swindle was part of a Cybertron Elite Guard special ops unit created by Magnum to take out the various leaders of the new Decepticon faction, in the hopes of ending the war quickly. The Coming Storm: Part 2 During introductions, Swindle admired Dion's Nitronium launchers and offered him a Ajax P-9000 Grade-B Jump Launch Accelerator (Swindle had named his own "Thunderblast" after an old flame). The Combaticons were teamed with Metalhawk's Strike Team for a mission to an archeological dig in Median. The dig had uncovered the Heart of the Dragon, a powerful artifact coveted by the Decepticon Rage and his Stormtroopers. When the teams arrived and discovered that the archaeologists were all females, he announced the odds were high that they would all score.

They began to fortify the site, though Onslaught had to remind Swindle that he wasn't there to sell them the fortifications. He still managed to organize a trade with Over-Run, providing the Autobot with a drone. He also lent Lancer his Gyro-Gun and a dose of sexual harassment. The Decepticons still managed to break in to steal the urn, and even Swindle's idea of having the autoturrets shoot anyone trying to escape the city failed when the autoturrets apparently malfunctioned.

Tracking the Stormtroopers back to their mobile base, the Metrotitan, Swindle and the others were confronted by Rage's bizarre creations, the Minotorons. Dion suggested that Swindle use a device he'd removed from Over-Run's drone to produce a high-pitched noise and subdue the beasts. Seeing an opportunity to sneak inside, Blast Off, Swindle and Dion mounted the creatures when they were summoned back inside the Metrotitan.

The teams reassembled inside the base, only to be confronted by Brimstone, a small but powerful Transformer with atom-smashing breath, brought to life by the Heart of the Dragon. In the face of this new threat, they were forced to retreat while attempting to find a way to destroy it. Even Ironfist's explosives weren't enough to stop the creature, but the small frame proved to be insufficient to contain Brimstone's energies, and it soon exploded, destroying the Metrotitan. Swindle and the Elite Guard managed to escape the blast radius, and reported back to Magnum about a job well done. Swindle's report apparently read like a romance holo-pulp. Flames of Yesterday
Bruticus managed to slaughter pretty much all of the Guard before Dion blinded the giant, forcing them to separate. They headed back to Deathsaurus's base for repairs. The Coming Storm: Part 6

Repairs proceeded, but the Combaticons were startled to learn that Deathsaurus could force them to combine into Bruticus at will. Battle Lines, Part 2 They still turned out to help defend the base against the remnants of the Elite Guard. In mid battle, Swindle tried to interest Dion in a supply of quasar weapons, much to the Autobot's surprise. As the Combaticons gained the upper hand, they attempted to merge, only to be blasted mid-combination. Battle Lines, Part 3 They picked themselves up only to find that Blast Off was missing, so they couldn't make another try at forming Bruticus. Swindle was almost attacked by Dion, but another Decepticon surprised the Autobot from behind. At the end of the fight, the Combaticons failed to retreat fast enough and were subsequently taken into Elite Guard custody. Battle Lines, Part 4

In the hands of the compromised Gyronian Sentry Team, the Combaticons were whisked away to Deathsaurus's fortress, now under Megatron's control. Though Megatron gave them the option, none of them cared to help Deathsaurus, and they were imprisoned and their personality components subsequently interred in the Decepticon Detention Center. Battle Lines, Part 5
In robot mode, he is armed with both weapons, which are used as hand-held artillery. Swindle normally operates as Bruticus's right leg, but as a Scramble City-style combiner toy, he can also be used in any other available limb slot with any torso-robot.
: The Combaticons were re-released in 1991 as part of the European-market "Classics" line. * The character models of the Combaticons are kinda... okay, heavily made-up. Swindle is particularly glaring, as his original 1986 toy was based on an XR311 combat vehicle (a predecessor to the AM General Humvee), whereas his character model was a much smaller Jeep, including a Jeep front on his robot chest, which the fiction has stuck with ever since. Early models of the team which were a bit more accurate to the toys — except for the heads, oddly enough — have shown up in various sourcebooks, though Swindle's is still off in some very odd ways.
* Swindle is the only Combaticon that doesn't have a faceplate or visor.
* The packaging of the 1990 European Classics release of the original Onslaught toy depicted the Combaticons in new color schemes, despite the fact that the actual toys looked identical to their original releases. While it may never be known for certain, it has been theorized that these colors originated from a packaging printing error rather than a legitimate attempt to redeco the Combaticons.
* In the Wings of Honor continuity the Combaticons are swayed to the Decepticon side by Deathsaurus appealing to their darker natures, represented by one of the Seven Deadly Sins. Swindle's vice is, predictably enough, his Greed.
It is perhaps because of this aptitude that he has become the most proficient of the team in handling the energies of the solitarium-powered Arsenal Force mega-weapon.

His practicality manifests itself in another way; Wingstun specializes in striking from enemies' blind spots, incapacitating them with minimal effort and wasted ammo. He seems to be friends with Wrecker Hook, despite Wrecker's occasional wasteful berserker outbursts.

The Unicron War refers to Unicron's attack upon Cybertron and his efforts to destroy the Matrix of Leadership. Unicron's threat is successfully repelled by a joint effort between the Autobots and the Decepticons (but mostly the Matrix of Leadership).

Fiction
Generation 1 cartoon continuity
The Transformers cartoon
The Unicron War spun directly out of the events of the Battle of Autobot City. The planet-eater Unicron was first drawn to the Transformers on Earth and Cybertron when the dying Optimus Prime bequeathed the Autobot Matrix of Leadership to Ultra Magnus. Unicron recognized the Matrix as the only thing capable of eliminating him and so, seeking a means to destroy it, began what would be known as the "Unicron War".

Following the Battle of Autobot City, Decepticon leader Megatron and several of his injured subordinates were thrown out of Astrotrain and set adrift in outer space. Unicron sought to use these discarded Decepticons as his servants. Upgrading Megatron into Galvatron and the other Decepticons into Cyclonus, Scourge and the Sweeps, he charged them with the mission of destroying the Matrix.

After a brief trip to Cybertron to reassert his authority as leader of the Decepticons, Galvatron then led his forces back to Autobot City on Earth. Now under the command of Unicron, Galvatron's single goal was to destroy Ultra Magnus and the Matrix within him. When Ultra Magnus and several other Autobots fled in shuttles, Galvatron and the Decepticons gave chase, shooting one shuttle down on the planet Quintessa, and seemingly destroying the shuttle piloted by Ultra Magnus. Galvatron, thinking his mission a success, returned to Unicron.

It was a ruse, however, and Ultra Magnus and his Autobots had escaped to the Planet of Junk. Informing Galvatron of his failure, Unicron dispatched his servants to Junk to finish the job. Galvatron was more successful on his second attempt, blowing Ultra Magnus to pieces and stealing the Matrix for himself.

Galvatron, desiring freedom from Unicron, attempted to wield the Matrix against his master. Unfortunately, he was not capable of opening the device and was promptly eaten. Enraged by his servant's behavior, Unicron transformed to robot mode and swore to destroy all of Cybertron in retaliation. Shockwave quickly ordered all Decepticons to engage in a counter attack on their foe, though their firepower proved ineffective.

The Autobots, both those who had been stranded on Quintessa and on Junk, arrived to aid in defending Cybertron, joining forces with the Decepticons in battle. Several Autobots invaded Unicron by flying their ship through his eye, though were met by his inner defenses. The Autobot Hot Rod became separated from his teammates and ran afoul of Galvatron (still carrying the Matrix). Galvatron initially asked for Hot Rod's aid in destroying their common foe, but still under Unicron's control, was forced to fight his would-be-comrade, instead.

The battle continued until Hot Rod removed the Matrix from Galvatron's possession, transforming himself into Rodimus Prime. Throwing Galvatron into deep space, Rodimus Prime then opened the Matrix, causing a devastating chain reaction within Unicron's body. Rodimus and the other Autobots escaped just as Unicron's body exploded, with only his head left to sightlessly orbit Cybertron. The Transformers: The Movie

Following the end of the Unicron War, the Decepticons, who had previously been in control of Cybertron, were driven from the planet by the Autobots. The Decepticons would eventually seek asylum on planet Chaar. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1

Galvatron would eventually crashland on Earth, where his presence created the menace known as Legion. He would later be launched back into space, where he'd crashland into a plasma pit on the planet Thrull. Kiss Players (franchise) Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2

Unicron's head would continue to orbit Cybertron for many years, causing various sorts of trouble. Ghost in the Machine Grimlock's New Brain

Beast Wars Neo cartoon
The energy released by his destruction would be known as Angolmois energy. It would eventually be used to resurrect the planet-eater, who would make a second attempt to destroy Cybertron many hundreds of years later. Unicron Revived!?
Notes
* In Japan, the term "Unicron War" was coined by the writers of the Transformers 2010 story pages (most likely by Masumi Kaneda) as a means to describe the events of The Transformers: The Movie, which would not be released in Japan until 1989. With the events of the Unicron War being referred to extensively but never seen, it gained a mysterious and almost legendary quality, both among the characters in the series and the audience observing the fiction. The term is still used in Japanese fiction to refer to the conflict to this day.
Synopsis
Goldbug is talking with the Technobots at Autobot City. Things have been quiet for the Autobots in the months since the return of Optimus Prime and the Hate Plague crisis. Not a word has been heard of the Decepticons in months. Who knows where they are. The answer? Right at their doorstep. Meanwhile, Ultra Magnus walks into a room to find Optimus on his knees. Optimus claims that he has been having visions since he opened the Matrix, and it's something big. Goldbug informs Optimus of the approaching Decepticon force, and Optimus realizes that what ever he's been sensing, it's starting right now.

Leading the Autobots out, the Decepticons attack. The Technobots and the Throttlebots take point, but the Decepticons have gotten some new raw power in Apeface and Snapdragon, while Mindwipe has some fun with Lightspeed. However, Punch sees Wingspan and Pounce enter into Autobot City. Transforming into Counterpunch, he follows to check up on their progress, where he sees them steal something from the vaults. The Clones quickly dispatch Punch, and take their prize to Scourge. Having claimed what they wanted, Galvatron orders a retreat. Optimus, realizing this was a diversion, runs into Autobot City, finding Punch and the vault. Horrified, Optimus orders everyone to board the ships and head for Cybertron.

On Cybertron, Blurr is racing with Hot Rod, with Daniel riding in Hot Rod. Blurr, however, loses control, while Daniel shoots several Decepticon targets and wins the race. Brainstorm claims that this is evidence of his theory that human partners would be able to assist the Autobots in the war with the Decepticons. Hardhead and Cerebros are unsure of the idea. However, Optimus contacts the Autobots, telling them Galvatron stole the Key to the Plasma Energy Chamber. This was the forge which was used to create the bodies of the original Autobots. Since the Quintesson rebellion, the key has been in the safekeeping of the Autobot leaders, who have been tasked with guarding the key with their lives. However, Galvatron intends to open the chamber and destroy Cybertron. The Decepticons arrive, and chaos ensues. The Aerialbots are quickly taken down by Sixshot, who shows off all six forms!

During the onslaught, Kup and Hot Rod's team notice Scourge heading for the Plasma Energy Chamber. They pursue in an attempt to stop him. When Scourge opens the chamber, he is nearly killed, but Spike and Cerebros manages to grab the key. The Autobots' ship is hit by a wave of energy from the Plasma Energy Chamber and is hurled off Cybertron itself. Discovering Scourge, the Decepticons reactivate him. Scourge explains what happened, and a team under Cyclonus heads out to find the Autobots with the key.

Meanwhile, the Autobot ship crashes on Nebulon. With the engines fried, the Autobots and the Witwickys decide to look for civilization. They're soon spotted by Duros and Pinpointer, who assume the Autobots are machines controlled by the Hive and alert the rest of their resistance group. The group soon captures the Autobots, and plans to destroy the Autobots with magnetic bombs, even though Spike tries to talk them down. However, the Decepticons show up. Spike finally convinces the Nebulons to release the Autobots. In the subsequent battle, Daniel is injured by Snapdragon, and Hot Rod, Kup, Blurr, Crosshairs, Pointblank and Sureshot are taken captive. Some of the Autobots pursue them into the forest, but are quickly driven off by machines.

Back at the cave, Arcana and Firebolt manage to stabilise Daniel's condition, but the boy will have to be connected to life-support machinery. The Nebulan leader Gort explains that the Hive is a tyrannical group of telekinetics who have used machines to enslave Nebulon. The resistance members know the weak points of the machines, but they just don't have the firepower. Spike thinks that Brainstorm's idea of organic partners just might be the ticket. The Autobots agree to allow the Nebulons to use their heads as suits, except for Cerebros, who walks out, tired of fighting. Arcee asks to be Daniel's partner, and Spike agrees. As they remove their heads, Spike declares that they are about to become Headmasters.
Kup: It might give us the edge if the Decepticons did return.<br>
Crosshairs: That's not gonna happen!<br>

"Sixshot, show them what a one-robot army is!"
"Yeah, me too. Like he said."
:—Highbrow and Hardhead on becoming Headmasters.

Notes
Animation or technical glitches
* AKOM continues their proud tradition of using the wrong color models. Thus, throughout the episode:
** Goldbug's mouthplate is gold instead of white.
** Optimus Prime's backpack, fog lights and forehead crest are white instead of red / red / blue, respectively.
** Scourge's head can be seen sticking out of the top of his hovercraft mode.
** The inside of Ultra Magnus' head is red instead of gray.

* The side of Goldbug's head is yellow instead of black as he wonders if the Decepticons will remain scattered.
* Scattershot's a bad counter. His "about a hundred blips" is actually 28 blips.
* Then it's 39 blips in the closeup.
* The panels on either side of Ultra Magnus's forehead crest are white instead of blue as he walks in on Optimus Prime.
* Goldbug inexplicably has a starry night behind him as he reports the attack to Optimus Prime.
* The side of Wideload's load bed is entirely blue as he passes Rollbar. Only the cover should be blue; the rest should be orange.
* As he leaves the city, Wideload's bed sides are the correct orange, but the bed overhang over his cab is blue instead of orange.
* Strafe and Scattershot don't fly out of the door in Autobot City, but rather right out of the walls above the door.
* Wideload is shown transforming when Magnus orders the Technobots to charge, a bit odd since he's a Throttlebot.
* Punch's mouth briefly disappears as Pounce tackles him.
* Scourge gets a radio muffle as he reports the theft of the key to Galvatron, even though he's right there on-screen.
* One of the Decepticons retreating from the Autobot City battle has Sureshot's color scheme.
* The Decepticons are shown entering the Revenge through the engine port... which then immediately lights up to propel the ship into space, presumably melting the entire Decepticon army to slag.
* Wingspan's gun sounds like Prime's rifle.
* Punch's mouth is missing as he points to where the key was stolen.
* As Daniel blasts the Cyclonus pop-up target, both the stick holding the target and the hole that it came from are missing.
* When Hot Rod first transforms to robot mode, the sides of his head are white and his spoiler is entirely yellow (it should be orange in the middle).
* Hardhead is consistently shown with the side of his visor yellow, rather than the blue that one might expect.
* When Crosshairs walks up to Brainstorm's group, he's drawn as a giant Pinpointer.
* The back of Prime's head is white as he and Magnus stand on the bridge of their shuttle.
* The group shot as Prime warns the Autobots not to let Galvatron open the chamber contains some odd members, including the giant Pinpointer, and Optimus Prime himself in Peacemaker's color scheme, but flipped.
* The Revenge somehow lands on Cybertron's surface without crushing the antenna on its bottom-most point.
* Scourge crawls down a Transformers-sized hatch. A dozen Autobots pursue him by getting aboard a shuttle and flying after him, though it's not clear if it's supposed to be the same hatch.
* Scourge is missing the pink on his fingernails as he approaches the Plasma Energy Chamber.
* Brainstorm's arm is clipped behind a panel during a shot inside the shuttle, making him look like he's standing outside of it.
* The orange shuttle suddenly has a lot of white as it flies past camera, following the 1st commercial break.
* Cyclonus's cockpit windows aren't colored in as Galvatron orders his troops to go with Scourge.
* Kup's helmet is light gray as he flees from the shuttle.
* The first two Nebulans' dialog is flanged as if they were Transformers.
* As we cut back to the battle on Cybertron, various Constructions, along with the Terrorcons Hun-grrr and Cutthroat, are show firing on... the Terrorcons Blot and Sinnertwin. Blot and Sinnertwin are fighting alongside Hot Spot and First Aid, the latter of whom is colored entirely white, missing his blue eyeband and red details.
* Hot Rod's missing his spoiler as he gets a magnetic bomb placed alongside him.
* As Hot Rod says, "You've got the wrong guys," he has several lines across his head crest instead of just one.
* If they're magnetic bombs, why do the Nebulans place them on the rocks of the cave walls?
* After the Decepticons arrive, various shots of the Autobots show no trace of the bombs.
* A giant Blowpipe is among the advancing Decepticons.
* Daniel is gnawed and thrown around by Snapdragon, and yet, his uniform remains squeaky clean and show no signs of damage despite Daniel's injuries being described as 'severe'. That must be some tough fabric they use in the future.
* As the Autobots approach the forest, Chromedome and Hardhead both have Nebulans transforming to form their heads, even though they haven't yet undergone the Headmaster process!

Continuity errors
* Goldbug and the Technobots reminisce about all the "loose parts" knocked from the Decepticons after Optimus Prime was resurrected. When did that happen, exactly?
* Scattershot claims there's "about a hundred" Decepticons heading towards Autobot City, but the attacking force shown on-screen is only a fraction of that number (Galvatron, 5 future Targetmasters, 6 future Headmasters, 2 clones, 5 Terrorcons = 19 total. If we're generous and include additional Decepticons shown on Cybertron, we can add 6 Constructicons, Sixshot, and 5 Combaticons for a total of 31. Nope, still not a hundred!)
* Furthermore, for a group that's supposed to include "every Decepticon in the known universe", there are some conspicuous absences - the Sweeps, Soundwave, the Predacons and the Stunticons are nowhere to be seen. (Quite a few were phased out of the show because their toys were no longer on the shelves.)
* Where did Galvatron get all those troops from anyway? Did he somehow build a ton of sentient new robots on his own, or were they scattered around the galaxy?
* The outside of the city is already smoking (burning?) before the Decepticons start their attack or fire a single shot.
* Soooo.... why do the Autobots rush headlong to meet their attackers instead of transforming the city to battle station mode?
* Pounce and Wingspan probably aren't the smartest guys around but even they can't be stupid enough to fall for Punch's "My Autobot counterpart is nearby" crap.
* Since when is Scourge big enough to carry a full-sized Transformer as a passenger?
* Lost in the vastness of space, the Autobot ship somehow manages to hit a planet? Cosmically improbable.
* For a ship supposedly moving a million miles per second (five times the speed of light), with no retro-rockets, the Autobot shuttle makes an incredibly soft landing on Nebulos, splashing down as though it were dropped from about 10 feet up. At that speed, the ship would have incinerated in orbit or, if it made it down intact, slammed into the planet with enough force to do incredible damage. (On the flip side, the million-miles-per-second thing does explain how they got to a completely different planet.)
* As is the norm for just about any children's cartoon, aliens on far-off planets speak perfect English. (And what ever happened to the universal greeting??)
* Considering they "hate all machines", the resistance sure do have a lot of machines set up in their caves.
* Crosshairs seriously just stands there and lets Mindwipe carry him off. He's shown unharmed and awake, even though he was among the first to get blasted in the Decepticon assault and was probably intended to be unconscious like the rest of the Autobots taken prisoner.
* Hasn't Arcee ever heard that you're not supposed to move the victim?! She picks up the unconscious Daniel for no other reason than to display affection.
* Arcee calls Daniel her "dearest friend in all the world." Which world would that be?
* Gort's description of the Hive ("ten rulers", great mental powers) doesn't really accord with the Tech Spec descriptions of some of Zarak's allies. This wouldn't be a discrepancy within the cartoon, but guys like Nightstick and Fracas act less like super-mental-power rulers and more like the bullies and brutes described in their bios.
* Brainstorm is shown drawing on paper with a manual triangle. Twenty more years into the future, and the super advanced space robots still haven't switched to a computer drafting system.
*There's a line about where to put human-sized controllers into Autobots in robot mode, even though it was done before without any modification.

Continuity notes
* This episode takes place several months after "The Return of Optimus Prime, Part 2".
* Almost two dozen Transformers make their debuts in this episode. As usual, there's no fuss over where they came from; they're just there.
* Similarly, quite a few familiar faces are gone with no explanation: Springer, the Sweeps, Sky Lynx, Blaster, and Soundwave, just to name a few. In real-life terms, they were removed from the show to make room for new toys.
* While discussing the Headmaster creation procedure with Chromedome, Brainstorm mentions that it's possible for a Transformer to "download (their memories and personalities) into the auxiliary memory circuits in their chests". Assuming that the aforementioned hardware is a standard feature in all Transformers, it might explain why death is just a wee bit inconsistent in fiction. Not bad for a throwaway line!
* We're introduced to the Plasma Energy Chamber, a "foundry in which the original Autobots' bodies were forged." In practice, the chamber acts less like a foundry and more like a generator gone wild.
* Daniel getting injured and requiring a robotic body (or in this case, Exo-suit) to survive is reminiscent of a somewhat similar incident involving his father. This works out a lot better.

Trivia
* "The Rebirth, Part 1", was to be the fourth season premiere, but due to declining interest, it simply was the first of the three final episodes (originally conceived as a five-part story), in which a slew of new characters and concepts were introduced, most notably the US animated version of the Headmasters.
* Like "Five Faces of Darkness" before it, the "Rebirth" mini-series also got its own introductory title sequence, consisting of some parts of the Season 3 titles spliced together with animation segments from the 1987 toy commercials. Unfortunately, the contrast in art and animation quality between the Season 3 credits (animated on the usual low AKOM budget) and the much higher-quality commercial snippets is jarring, to say the least.

*The Japanese dub of all three episodes of "The Rebirth" were released exclusively on laser disk by Pioneer (and later on DVD as part of their Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers 2010 box set). The dub for these episodes is unusual in that it primarily features Western names for characters rather than Japanese-exclusive ones. For instance, Hot Rod is referred to by his Western name rather than "Hot Rodimus", Kup is not called "Char" and so on. Some Japanese names are retained, such as Optimus Prime being called "Convoy". Even stranger, aside from several primary characters, nearly all the voices are different from the usual Japanese cast.
* Your wiki editors will leave it up to the reader to interpret the image at right.
When nine of the most powerful Decepticons are gathered together under the rule of Violen Jiger, Autobot Powered Master Dai Atlas must step forward to prevent them from acquiring the power of the mystical Zodiac.

Synopsis
Seeking to conquer the universe, the mysterious, demonic Violen Jiger gathers together the Decepticons Devastator, Menasor, Bruticus, Trypticon, Predaking, Abominus, King Poseidon, Overlord and BlackZarak as his Nine Great Demon Generals. To remove the threat the Autobots pose to his goal, he has the generals devastate the planet Feminia, drawing the attention of Autobot Supreme Commander Victory Saber and his troops, who arrive to save the planet's populace. Victory Saber saves the life of a young boy named Cain, but is unable to escape the planet's destruction himself and is left missing in action when Feminia explodes.

With the Autobots in disarray following the loss of Victory Saber, Violen Jiger charges his generals with obtaining the Autobots' new energy source Energon Z, and the Zodiac, the enigmatic energy force responsible for the creation of the universe, which he intends to fuse together to create the super-energy that will fuel his dreams of conquest.

Meanwhile, Cain and his pet Emusa are brought to Planet Zone, the fortified defence base of the Autobot Micromasters, where Moonradar and Rabbicrater give him the lowdown on its history. Zone was created by the Powered Masters, early Transformer pioneers of space, and the Zone Base is powered by Energon Z—which makes the planet the next target for the Demon Generals. Overlord, Menasor, Bruticus and Abominus attack the planet and steal the Energon Z, escaping into space as Moonradar leads the Super Car Patrol Team and the Battle Patrol Team in pursuit. Their way is barred by BlackZarak, who impedes their progress with an energy net. The Jet Patrol Team free their companions, and Sunrunner tracks the Generals with his radar, discovering that the capsule of Energon Z has been handed off to the other half of the group, who are on their way to Earth.

Back on Zone, as the Rescue Patrol Team cleans up, the Powered Masters Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber return from their search for Victory Saber, bringing the wounded commander back safely. The two Powered Masters briefly watch over Victory Saber in the infirmary, then set out for Earth, where Devastator, King Poseidon, Trypticon and Predaking are already wreaking havoc. The Micromasters, meanwhile, have already arrived on the planet, just in time to save a young boy named Akira, who... befriends... Cain as the Micromasters do the best they can to hold off the Generals. In the nick of time, Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber arrive, and the battle goes underground as Devastator and Dai Atlas race to find the Zodiac, buried in a cavern beneath the Earth's surface. As Devastator is dispatched by a river of lava, King Poseidon attempts to escape with the Zodiac, but is stopped by Sonic Bomber, and tosses it to his fellow Generals. Dai Atlas is able to snatch it from their grasp, but the enraged Trypticon then unleashes a beam of Energon Z from the capsule directly at him. Sonic Bomber valiantly takes the hit for Dai Atlas and is nearly killed by the beam, but Trypticon simply fires off another shot. In desperation, Dai Atlas holds aloft the Zodiac and petitions it for help, and as the Energon Z washes over it, its power is unleashed. Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber are transformed into "Zone Modes", heavily-armed base forms that dispense with King Poseidon and Trypticon. Attempting to flee, Predaking is cleaved in two by Dai Atlas's Zone Sword Cutter attack, and the Zodiac is retrieved.

The Autobots, Cain and Akira then discuss the nature of the Zodiac amongst themselves, with Akira revealing that he learned about the existence of Zodiac from his father, but he wants to know more about space and the Transformers. Conversely, Cain and Moonradar want to learn about Earth, and they all agree to teach each other about their respective subjects. Emusa then invites Akira to Zone, and Dai Atlas approves; Akira is ecstatic, but stops to pull something from his backpack — he presents Cain and Emusa with some flowers, and wants to bring plenty along for the trip!

Returning to Zone, Victory Saber appoints Dai Atlas as the new Supreme Commander of the Autobots. The flying Emusa throws a bouquet into the air that falls apart, and as the petals rain down on the laughing boys and nearby Autobots, the crowd cheers Dai Atlas' name.
*Opening song is "Transformer Z no Theme" and ending song is "Ashita no Kimi e".
Transformers references
*The Transformers previously visited Planet Feminia in issue 5 of the 1986 manga, The Story of Super Robot Lifeforms: The Transformers. Kup also mentioned it in "Birth of the Fantastic Double Prime".
*Planet Zone is an overhauled, upgraded version of Micro, seen previously in the Victory animated series.
*The core of the Zone Base, referred to as the "Rocket Base" in the toyline and TV Magazine spreads, is identical to the Shuttle Base from Victory. While it is unclear if the Shuttle Base and the Rocket Base were originally intended to be the same structure, The Ark II has declared them to be so.
*The fire station, gas station, airport and construction station Micromaster Bases belonging to Hot House, Glasspit, Overair and Ironworks, respectively, all appear as part of the Zone Base, although their Micromaster owners do not.

Trivia
*This is the only episode of Zone in existence. Although rumors have always circulated that as many as five could have been completed, only this first episode was released, and serves as the final animated installment of the Japanese Generation 1 cartoon. The episode is an adaptation of the single chapter of Zone manga, or perhaps vice-versa—the manga was released three months before the OVA, although it's not totally clear which media the story was first conceived for. There are some small differences between the anime and the manga: most notably, in the manga, Predaking is blasted by Dai Atlas and Sonic Bomber's Zone Modes along with King Poseidon and Trypticon, while the anime sees him make a run for it and wind up getting bisected. Story pages in TV Magazine would later establish that all three generals survived the Zone Mode blast in the manga, whereas they rather definitively died in the anime. As such, the story pages are, in the strictest sense, not in-continuity with the anime, although the official 2007 timeline established that their events, in broad strokes, also occurred in animated continuity.
*The Zone VHS came packaged with the exclusive figure, Rabbicrater.
*The Zone title sequence features Sonic Bomber fighting a strange blue winged creature and Dai Atlas fighting a huge pink bear-esque creature, both of which end up destroyed by the Autobots. Just who or what these things are is never explained in any extant Zone fiction.
*Four complete Micromaster teams appear in this episode: the Rescue Patrol Team, the Battle Patrol Team, the Jet Patrol Team and the Super Car Patrol Team. The latter two use the molds from the Air Strike Patrol and the Sports Car Patrol, who were Decepticons in the West.
*Only three members of the Race Car Patrol Team appear in this episode—in cameos from behind, nonetheless. The missing member is Free Wheeler, who can briefly be spotted in the opening sequence.

*So, uh... yeah. Cain and Akira are pretty gay. Aside from both being very effeminate in design, there's a scene in the story where, during Predaking and Trypticon's attack on the base-mode Galaxy Rocket, Akira is shaken up and falls back into Cain's arms, and they linger on the pair in close-up as both of them blush. Then, the whole closing sequence is about them running through a field of <span class="plainlinks">shōjo bubbles</span> and watching the sunrise together. Quite why Takara caved in to the use of such ghastly anime cliché visuals after having stayed away from anything even close to this in Transformers before, we may never know.
*Devastator totally knocks down the World Trade Center. That dastardly terrorist.
