"Full metal jacket" refers to a bullet clad in a copper alloy; the movie was named for that. Rattrap is thus not necessarily referring to the movie. JW 17:35, 5 October 2007 (UTC)
:Given how many classic rock songs are ref'd during the course of Beast Machines, I'd say it's likely. Even if not, it's worth noting, since it's a play on words and a real-world reference either way. -- Repowers 15:10, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
::I would have no problem with a note about how FMJ refers to copper-clad bullets. Howver, saying it refers to the Kubrick movie is sheer speculation, and is misleading as to where the phrase originally comes from. (It's like saying "something wicked this way comes" is necessarily a Bradbury reference.) JW 15:15, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
:::It's far from "sheer speculation"; I would wager the movie is far better known among the general public than the phrase it takes its title from. -- Repowers 07:54, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
::::If you can provide a cite as to the writers' intentions, or a cite that establishes that the general public first thinks of the 20-year-old movie when they hear the phrase, I'll be content. Otherwise you are just guessing/speculating/wagering on both of those points. JW 11:58, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
:::::Try Googling it and see what you get. -- Repowers 15:05, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
::::::"full metal jacket" -kubrick, 3,910,000
::::::"full metal jacket" +movie, 2,000,000
::::::"full metal jacket" -movie, 2,770,000
::::::"full metal jacket" +vietnam, 381,000
::::::The searches that specifically include the movie always return fewer results than those that specifically exclude the movie.
::::::Repowers, I understand where you're coming from. But, the fact that the phrase "full metal jacket" makes you think of the movie, doesn't prove anything about what the writers had in mind. If you can provide something more concrete, I'll be happy to edit the ref back in. (E.g., we feel pretty confident that Playback was named for the Raymond Chandler novel, because the only story he appeared in was also named for a Raymond Chandler novel. Are there any other Kubrick references in this episode?) JW 15:58, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
:::::::Y'know, rather than continuing to argue about it (and point out that the whole point of Google is that it front-loads popular and well-known sites in its search results), I'm just gonna come up with what I hope is an acceptable compromise edit. -- Repowers 16:53, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
::::::::You need to clean that up a bit, but [shrug] I can live with it. JW 17:04, 7 December 2007 (UTC)
Incorrect Character Model/Texture
I recently rewatched this episode, and noticed at least one instance of the animators using the wrong vehicon model/texture. The instance for this episode that comes to mind would be during the Jetstorm vs. Thrust scenes, after Thrust gets thrown into the side of a building, you'll notice that Thrust is textured like a standard bike drone. --96.41.212.94 02:42, 13 September 2009 (EDT)
