174.141.180.26: /* Examples */

Just what its name implies, unpaintable plastic is plastic to which the type of paint Hasbro and TakaraTomy use will not properly adhere, due to the chemical compositions of said plastic. This plastic is sometimes used on Transformers toys for structural reasons, due to its durability, flexibility, or resiliency.

The two most common plastics that are unpaintable and often used in Transformers are Polyoxymethylene (POM) and Polyamide (PA). The vast majority of Transformers toys have at least one mold that is unpaintable.

Examples
* Beast Wars Dinobot's beast forelegs, the piece at the back of his beast mode neck, his robot shoulders, and his robot thighs are unpaintable plastic.

* Armada Thundercracker's silver plastic is unpaintable, which is why his eyes are silver and indirectly why his face is painted red. (Thundercracker's face is usually silver, but since his eyes and face would have been the same color, his deco artist changed Thundercracker's face color.)

* The Ultimate Battle Optimus Prime — Much of his red plastic, especially the upper arms, is made of unpaintable plastic. This is why the Autobot symbol tampograph was moved to his forearm.

* OTFCC 2003 Sideswipe — See photo and caption to right.

* Prime Starscream (Prime) - Starscreams head spike is made of a very flimsy, rubbery plastic therefore that part can,t be painted

Notes
* Yes, you can probably get commercially available hobbyist paints to stick to this plastic. You are not a multi-million dollar toy corporation and you are beholden to different budget constraints, not to mention your alterations do not have to hold up to the same testing and durability standards their mass-retail toys do. This fundamental disconnect is pretty much the entire driving force behind customizing.
Ah, Egypt, cradle of human civilization, birthplace of culture, writing and art!

It is home to the pyramids! 2,500 years ago, these structures were the most ancient of the Seven Wonders of the World, and they are the only one of the Seven that still exist today.
The last of the O-Parts was found in Egypt. A Friendly Contest Following that, it was worked out the Orb of Sigma was located in Egypt's deserts, and the Autobots rapidly high-tailed it there, eventually finding it in a pyramid. Peril from the Past

Revenge of the Fallen
Around 17,000 BC, The Fallen was in Egypt (which was then a green, fertile valley) organizing the building of a star harvester. The other Primes took pity on the primitive humans and stole the Matrix of Leadership that powered the harvester, thereby rendering it useless and saving the planet. Many years later, the humans built the Great Pyramid of Giza over the harvester. Defiance issue 2

In 2009 AD, Jetfire took Sam Witwicky, Mikaela Banes, Seymour Simmons, Leo Spitz, Wheelie, Bumblebee, Skids and Mudflap to <s>Wadi Rum</s> Egypt (which had assumed its more familiar desert appearance by that point) via a space bridge. The group stayed at the pyramids, where Sam figured out the Tomb of the Primes and the Matrix was hidden in Petra, Jordan. Simmons got past the border authorities, who were ordered to arrest Sam after The Fallen put the price of humanity's existence on his head, by passing them off as his family: it also turned out the border guard had visited New York City, where Simmons noted he was from, and liked the place.

After finding the Matrix, the group returned to the pyramids, where NEST and the Decepticons had landed in a nearby town, readying for battle. Devastator emerged in a quarry and climbed up the pyramid to excavate the harvester, while Megatron, Starscream, Ravage and Constructicon clones attempted to claim the Matrix from Sam. Soundwave had jammed NEST's phone signals, but Simmons retrieved a radio from a downed Jordanian helicopter which he used to order the USS Kidd to fire her experimental railgun on Devastator, and to get reinforcements. Sam was able to resurrect Optimus with the Matrix before The Fallen snatched it and powered his machine. Optimus and Jetfire combined and blew up the harvester before finally killing The Fallen. Revenge of the Fallen (film)
