Lockdown

:Lockdown is a bounty hunter commonly allied with the Decepticons from the Animated continuity family.

Driven by the thrill of the chase, Lockdown is a bounty hunter by choice and a Decepticon only by necessity. He's got no real loyalty towards Megatron, but the Decepticons always pay on time, better than the Elite Guard, and allow him access to the systems upgrades he craves. Besides that, he's such a nasty piece of work that it's just easier for him to be a 'Con.

Lockdown has a grisly habit of collecting "trophies" from his victims for his own use. He has attached a number of parts that appear to be stolen, such as his hook, chainsaw weapons, and parts of his left leg. His collection of stolen gadgets include quick-hardening cement spray, smoke bombs, and Ratchet's EMP generator. The Autobots consider his actions appalling, while Lugnut views his mercenary ways an insult to the Decepticon cause, but Lockdown doesn't care. As long as Megatron and the Decepticon leadership will give him his upgrades, Lockdown will get the job done.

Lockdown was a student in Yoketron's Cyber-Ninja Corps, and one of the greater students at that. However, during the Great War he somehow brought shame on the Corps and was booted out. He became a bounty hunter instead, after he came back to kill Yoketron, pinch his helmet, and steal the protoforms that the Corps defended. Five Servos of Doom

One of his other wartime jobs was to bring an intelligence officer who carried vital information in for questioning. He encountered Ratchet, broke off one of the Autobot's forehead chevrons and stole his EMP generator, turning the healing tool into a weapon. During said encounter, Lockdown's right arm was destroyed when he launched it at Ratchet, causing him to replace it with a decidedly more menacing one (namely, the hook seen above). He was also indirectly responsible for Arcee losing her memory. The Thrill of the Hunt

On modern-day Earth, Lockdown was hired by Blitzwing to bring in the Autobot presumed responsible for Megatron's death and was allowed to name his price—specifically, Lugnut's Punch of Kill Everything. Tracking the Nemesis to the location of its crash on the moon, Lockdown, through use of the security footage, determined that a repair crew led by Optimus Prime was responsible. Realizing he was not alone, he soon found himself face to face with Blackarachnia, who had her own reasons for being there. Being suspicious of her motives, Lockdown confronted her, only to be knocked out cold by Blackarachnia's cyber venom. Coming to and seeing her gone, he dismissed this and moved on to capture his real target, A Few Loose Strands Optimus Prime. He captured Prime using the EMP generator and, impressed by Prime's own personal modifications, stole his axe and forcibly removed Optimus's grapplers, something that traumatized him later on. When the Autobots came to rescue Prime, Lockdown made short work of Bumblebee and Bulkhead. Prowl, on the other hand, proved a bigger challenge, but Lockdown came out on top (after having a tire mark smudged on his face). He was about to leave in his ship with his new trophies, when Ratchet, who had been suffering from war flashbacks, came on the scene and soundly thrashed him, partially because the stolen EMP generator didn't work on Ratchet himself. Pinning Lockdown, Ratchet painfully removed both Prime's grapplers and his own EMP generator. Lockdown was forced to watch as Ratchet crippled his ship and escaped with a weakened Optimus. The Thrill of the Hunt

After arriving on the Moon, Blitzwing remarked that the Decepticons hadn't heard anything from Lockdown since he contacted Blitzwing. Mentioning Lockdown's name made Lugnut get a little bent out of shape. Lost and Found (episode)

As it turns out, Lockdown survived the crash and his ship was repaired. Learning of a large bounty on Starscream, Lockdown headed back to Earth, expecting a serious fight to take him down. It turned out that Prowl managed to take down Starscream for him. During a fight over the Decepticon, they realized that Starscream had escaped. Heading to Earth on his ship, he discovered Prowl had stowed away. Prowl offered to help Lockdown, and the bounty hunter offered a suit of armor to assist.

Upon landing on Earth, Lockdown and Prowl discovered Starscream (both purple and more cowardly than usual) and Prowl managed to take him down. Lockdown contacted Megatron to set up a meet, but Prowl wanted to turn him over to the Elite Guard. Lockdown subdued Prowl and took Starscream. At the warehouse, the Autobots arrived with another Starscream. Lockdown tried to take his leave, but Megatron commanded him to stay. Then the two Starscreams revealed that they were clones with bombs in their chests. Lockdown managed to get away in the chaos, then contacted Prowl with an offer of a partnership. Prowl rejected his offer, saying that all the mods were for weak processors, and warned Lockdown never to contact him again, or he'd turn him over to the Elite Guard. A Fistful of Energon

At some point after he left Earth, Lockdown traded information to Swindle in exchange for weapons. SUV: Society of Ultimate Villainy

He later came back to Earth, hired by Sentinel Prime to capture Decepticons for him so he could look good. Lockdown happily complied until one of the prisoners made a better deal, causing Lockdown to happily turn on the Autobots. He was able to defeat Prowl through his ninja skills and trickery, taking him away to steal his jump-jets and holo-projector so he could replicate the armour Prowl once wore. Shockingly, putting one of the heroes next to a load of kit that said hero could use backfired, and Lockdown found himself fighting a stronger Prowl—especially once the Autobot realised Lockdown had been the one to murder Yoketron.

While beaten, Lockdown was able to escape once again. Five Servos of Doom
In the past, Lockdown stole an "active camo" mod from a member of the Autobot Elite Guard. As it renders him nearly invisible, he uses it to do reconnaissance on his targets, learning everything he needs to know about them before striking. Unfortunately, it shorts out in the rain. #Stealth

Lockdown realizes that half the game is psychological, no matter what that game is. If it's bounty hunting, and you have to paint yourself blue with skeletons and a missing optic to give your target a case of the glitches, well, sometimes it's what you have to do. They'll certainly know he's coming—and that nothing is going to stop him. #Bandit

At some point, Lockdown was exposed to exotic energy that supercharged his systems, causing his body to give off a fiery glow. This enhancement went so far as to change his mode of operations; he no longer seeks payment for his actions, and instead simply lives to see the terror coming from the Autobots he destroys. With his chainsaw and a body that now gives off so much heat that it can melt or burn through whatever he comes in contact with, that's a lot of terror... for however long the condition lasts. #Blazing
Web of Deception
Blackarachnia hired Lockdown to get her revenge on Optimus Prime, sending the bounty hunter to Archa Seven to pick up one of the giant spiders there and bring it back to Earth. Using Sparkseeker EMP torpedoes, he was able to abduct Optimus Prime right off the Autobot ship and tie him to a bomb next to the spider as part of Blackarahnia's plan. A short time later the rest of the Autobots caused problems for him, and he opted to leave them to it. Web of Deception

Upon arriving on Earth, Lockdown joined Starscream and Blackarachnia in attacking Detroit. Transforming from vehicle to robot mode, he faced off against Ratchet in an attempt to seize the AllSpark. The Cool Episode 1

Lockdown later joined up with Prowl (giving him a set of power-boosting armor) in hunting down what he thought was Starscream. Lockdown then doublecrossed Prowl when the Autobot began to have doubts and hauled the bounty off to Megatron by himself. The Starscream he had captured turned out to be nothing more than a clone, rigged to explode by the real Starscream. Prowl launched the clone into the sky, where it detonated harmlessly, though Lockdown disappeared in the confusion. The Cool Episode 6
Lockdown was hired by Megatron to find AllSpark fragments in exchange for some sweet upgrades. Lockdown, always the consummate professional, delivered the goods. He later lucked into some more fragments, which had been gathered by Bumblebee, and swiped them from the Autobot. Bumblebee furiously chased him along Detroit's streets, bumping into him until he had to reboot and the Autobot pinched the fragments back. To add insult to injury, Lockdown was subsequently hunted down and captured by Prowl. Transformers Animated: The Game
*Lockdown (Deluxe, 2008)
**Japanese ID number: TA-08
**Accessories: Hook attachment, engine block/EMP generator
: Part of the first wave of Transformers Animated Deluxes, Lockdown transforms into an amalgam of a 1980s Corvette and a 1960s Cougar, with lots of spikes and a cow-catcher on his bumper. He looks freaking terrifying. In car mode, pressing down on his engine block/EMP generator flips out twin cannon barrels. A hook can also be flipped from the center of his bumper.

: In robot mode, the entire engine block/center hood assembly pops off to form a "replacement" hook-hand gauntlet that can be used on either arm (though for animation model accuracy, it would go on his right arm). The engine block can be removed and attached to the deluxe Ratchet's left arm via the "war wound" socket. There was much rejoicing. But it cannot be attached to Prowl's arm. Despite being "normal" size in car mode for a Deluxe, due to his transformation, he towers over most Deluxes in robot mode.

: His wrists are susceptible to breaking off if too much pressure is applied when trying to force his wrists into a more natural "straight down" position, so don't do it. The earliest releases of the toy had issues with the EMP generator; it was hard to trigger the barrel release, plus it didn't lock onto Ratchet's arm too well. Later releases fixed these issues.

: Lockdown is slightly mistransformed in the picture to the right: his legs are not properly extended. Doing so would allow the panels at the top of his legs to fold into his legs and face down, not forward. Also, his shoulder panels should be flipped up. These steps make for a more cartoon-accurate toy.
Notes
* According to Derrick Wyatt's blog, his original concept for Lockdown was as a freakish Frankenstein-like monster. It was altered to better fit Lockdown's more business-like nature. Lockdown's final model is "reminiscent of skull like head and an undertaker's tux"sic —hey, he even has coat-tails!

* Meanwhile, Wyatt has explicitly said that Lockdown is not based on Death's Head. The older bounty hunter's name was, however, later used for Lockdown's starship.

* The cartoon model for Lockdown shows an amusing homage to the older toys. Instead of the ordinary Decepticon symbol seen on the toy, the animated version's chest carries what appears to be a rubsign, presumably to symbolize the character's lack of allegiance to any faction.

* Lockdown's allegiance, in fact, seems to be more than meets the eye. Lockdown has stated outright that he isn't a Decepticon—and according to Derrick Wyatt, no Decepticon ever trained at Master Yoketron's dojo. Combined with the fact that his concept design featured a stolen part whose Decepticon symbol had been crossed out, the evidence strongly points to Lockdown as having been a former Autobot. Lockdown's profile in The AllSpark Almanac also supports this: Prowl "writes" that he suspects Lockdown to have been an Autobot, based on his size, powers, and car-based altmode. In The Stunti-Con Job, Wildrider is seen with the same body-type as Lockdown, and all of the Stunticons were said to have taken on Autobot shells for their mission, further pointing to Lockdown being a former Autobot.

* According to the Decepticon character descriptions sent out in the original Cartoon Network press release for Transformers Animated, Lockdown "can go into a Predator-like stealth mode for brief periods". Thus far, he has never been shown to do this in fiction, although the idea seems to have been the basis for the Stealth Lockdown toy—whose bio further cemented the Predator connection by saying his "active camo shorts out in rain".

* Speaking of the Stealth Lockdown toy, it appears to have been changed a bit between concept and release. The version of the toy depicted on the back of the box's packaging is completely transparent, as opposed to the final toy's translucent-but-smokey coloration.

* In his debut episode, Lockdown's original arm (the one currently outfitted with his hook) came equipped with a rocket powered fist. This weapon has not been seen since, neither on the show nor in toy form.

* His toy's vehicle mode is adorable yet terrifying. Like if Cars had a serial-killer character.

* Despite having lost the EMP generator, Lockdown retains the external engine it comprises in his vehicle mode, as seen in "A Fistful of Energon". Perhaps he found a substitute or a replacement?

* The interior of Lockdown's vehicle mode sports a chain-steering wheel and a skull on the gear stick. Now that's hardcore. The skull gear stick was even immortalized in toy form: It's molded on the interior of the Bumper Battles figure.

* Lockdown was responsible for breaking off Ratchet's right-hand chevron, but it would appear that he wasn't the first.

* Although it initially seemed that Lockdown had not scanned a local Earth altmode, he was shown doing so in a comic immediately prior to the events shown in "The Thrill of the Hunt". This is slightly confusing though, since the Great War flashbacks in "Thrill" do seem to show Lockdown using the same muscle car altmode he would later adopt Earthside—but to be fair, the scene was quite dark. He must have just scanned an extremely similar new form. Shrug.

Foreign names
One way that non-Transformer species seem to have influenced Cybertronian culture is the relatively rare occurrence of Transformers wearing clothing.

Capes
From time to time, some high-ranked Cybertronians tend to wear capes. Presumably, they are a symbol of office, as only generals, commanders, and other such leaders have been seen sporting them. Exactly what material these capes are made from is unknown, but one presumes that Earth-style fabrics are likely extremely rare on Cybertron (which could make the capes even more special, considering).

* Generation 1 Optimus Prime and Generation 1 Megatron wore capes while serving as the leaders of the Cybertron Alliance. Prime's was purple (the Decepticon color), while Megatron's was red (the Autobot color). Whether this was a symbol of high office or just a desire to look pretty is unknown.
* Generation 1 Starscream wore a cape, large shoulder pads, and a crown at his coronation as Decepticon leader. The crown alone survived Galvatron's blast, only to be crushed under his feet.
* The Nine Great Demon Generals mostly wore capes (except Trypticon, who wore a Batman-like cowl) in the Zone story pages.
* The members of the Convoy Council wear capes, too.
* Armada Scavenger wore a large, body-obscuring cloak when he first arrived on Earth.
*Tidal Wave, or at least a computer simulation's version of him, wore a cloak to conceal his identity before a battle.Distribution
*Great Convoy is a cape. Seriously.
*Megatron's appearance in Dark of the Moon included a hooded cloak to cover up the injuries he suffered at Optimus Prime's hand in Revenge of the Fallen.

Trenchcoats
Quite a few characters have been depicted wearing trenchcoats, mostly when involved in detective work or similarly secretive activity.

* Generation 1 Nightbeat is often seen wearing a trenchcoat and fedora, due to their connection with detective fiction. He pulls it off pretty well, actually.
* The Micromaster Air Strike Patrol wore trenchcoats and fedoras while trying to pass as human professional wrestlers. Interestingly enough, these coats somehow obscured large physical protrusions on their bodies (jet intakes, wings, etc.). The Interplanetary Wrestling Championship!

Ponchos
* The Matrix Flame priest wears poncho-style robes.
* The Jointron brothers have been shown wearing ponchos and sombreros, as well as using mariachi-style guitars and maracas. This is both hilarious and racist.
*Transformers Animated Lockdown wore a "Space Poncho" when he showed up on the remains of the Nemesis in reference to the Man With No Name from the spaghetti western A Fistful of Dollars. A Fistful of Energon

Pretenders
* Most of the Pretender toys have clothing molded onto their Pretender shells. Naturally, it's only pretend clothing, being part of the Transformers' shells (which themselves might be considered a form of clothing).
* In the TV commercial for the Pretenders, the human Pretenders can take off these clothes and reveal the muscle of the outer shells.
* In Super-God Masterforce, human Pretenders wear clothes in their everyday lives as normal humans.
* Cloudburst also wears normal clothing in Marvel Comics continuity. Recipe for Disaster!
* In Revenge of the Fallen, the Pretender Alice conceals her lady-bits with clothing. When she transforms into her robot mode, her clothes appear to fold away in the same manner as her simulated skin. She did however show the ability to alter the appearance of her clothing.

Headwear
*Starscream wore a crown during his coronation in The Transformers: The Movie.
* Cohrada wears his father's hat in Beast Wars Neo manga.
* In the Dreamwave Generation One continuity, Bumblebee wore a removable face-mask that resembled the face of his original toy. The War Within issue 6 He was later shown to have integrated a similar mask into his head proper. Skyfire (issue) Brawn was also shown to wear a removable face-mask that resembled his toy's face. Night of the Combaticons
* During the Dark Ages, Jetfire sported a face-mask resembling his original toy, which was later upgraded into a fully removable helmet that he wore along with detachable armor. Skyfire (issue) He would also wear a helmet (based on that of his Classics toy) during the events of Stormbringer.
* In "Dawn of Future's Past", Rattrap is seen wearing a removable cap-like helmet.
* Another Starscream wore a crown very much like G1 Starscream's after stealing power from Primus to grow to giant size.

* Animated Bulkhead wore a beret while indulging in his artistic tendencies. He was probably trying to be like human artists though.
* Animated Bulkhead also wore a pair of glasses, and Bumblebee wore a tutor's cap while the two were discussing Sari's origins. They were trying to substitute as teachers for her in an attempt to cheer her up, telling her that she could still learn subjects while out of school. The Return of the Headmaster
* Back in the dim and distant past on Cybertron, it was revealed that Megatron's "bucket-head" is in fact a helmet, presumably a hangover from his mining days. After his first kill in the deathmatches at the Forge, Megatron removed his helmet to reveal a crest of hair-like panels underneath, while the crowd cheered him on. Megatron Origin issue 2
* Later, Orion Pax was seen (in a cameo) at Bumper's funeral having removed his head/helmet as a mark of respect, along with his unnamed albino twin. Megatron Origin issue 3
* Sentinel's helmet was smacked off by the guy whom he joined up with. Transformers: Dark of the Moon (film)

Cosplay
Sometimes, people on Earth wear clothing to look like various Transformers. Sometimes this is hot, sometimes this is sad.

Others
* In an early plan to trap the Decepticons, the Autobots had to run around in lab coats. It was very silly. More than Meets the Eye, Part 3
* Generation 1 Brawn made a seemingly metaphorical reference to footwear called proton boots.
* The magic of Christmas once made Optimus Prime dress up in a festive outfit. Obviously, the big guy is a little too open to suggestion. The same holds true for Grimlock, it seems.
* Generation 1 Grimlock is a king of fashion, at times wearing a crown, a bandana, an apron, a top hat and cane and... err...
* In Japan, Rumble and Frenzy once dressed in garb modeled after the hooded outfits worn by the Ku Klux Klan. While Westerners would find this to be in very, very poor taste, the Japanese have been known to be somewhat ignorant about the negative cultural impact the Klan represent. Villains with outfits modeled after the Klan have appeared in many Japanese children's shows, including the Japanese version of Gigantor. From their perspective, the Klan outfits just "look cool". Fight! Super Robot Lifeform Transformers issue 7
* The Convoy Council wear robes. They have their reasons, and they do not concern you.
* The exostructures of the members of Council of Ancients resemble robes. They also have their reasons.
* In Beast Wars II manga issue "Realize the Forbidden Love!", both Maximals and Seacons wear suits on Bighorn and Scylla's wedding. Instead of normal wedding suit or dress, Bighorn and Scylla wear Hikoboshi and Orihime's clothes respectively.
* In his Unicron-created dream world, Armada Megatron wore a crimson sash around his shoulders. He was apparently the ruler of all Cybertron in his dream, so it was probably ceremonial.
* The Space Mini-Con Team and Sureshock have disguised themselves as humans using large, heavy jackets, coats, baseball caps, hats, sunglasses, and other items of clothing to try to blend in with other people in robot mode.

* Heinrad wears his Ruler of Time and Space agent's uniform. Return to Zero
* Six-Speed's curiosity about human clothing led him to examine the closets of his human friends Bud and Coby. However, his attempt to dress like a human basically amounted to putting random articles of clothing on his limbs, looking more ridiculous than clothing-wearing Transformers normally do. Which is kinda amazing.
* Transformers Animated Bumblebee wore a robe before his wrestling match with Colossus Rhodes, likely more to keep with human tradition than actual need. Total Meltdown
*Drift wore a full set of clothes that completely concealed his robot-ness. Spotlight: Drift
* The doctor, along with his european accent wears what appear to be glasses. They seem to be the lenses for his microscope mode. Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen (film)
* Megatron wore a big fluffy blue robe and slippers on Christmas morning. A Gift For Megatron Also a robe while training. Megatron's Revenge

*Cybertron Starscream (Supreme, 2005)
He also comes with an apron and serving tray, to simulate the time he served drinks to alien diplomats in "Madman's Paradise".

Prowl goes off on his own to capture the fugitive Starscream, but finds some competition in the form of a Decepticon bounty hunter.

Synopsis
As the Elite Guard's ship proceeds on its journey, an explosion rocks the hull, and out flies Starscream, declaring vengeance against Megatron once again.

On Dinobot Island, Prowl and Bulkhead are on the lookout for their feral friends in response to reports of some rampaging going on. Prowl has been sent along with Ratchet's EMP generator and some stasis cuffs, but doubts he will need them since the Dinobots are such gentle spirits when left alone and he has always been able to reason with them. Grimlock soon contradicts Prowl's perspective by charging into the clearing like an angry rhino. Prowl is still determined to take it easy on the big guy until Grimlock's jaws get dangerously close to a nest filled with adorable little baby birdies. Using an EMP blast, Prowl quickly incapacitates Grimlock.

Prowl and Bulkhead are both surprised that it came to that, but Prowl rationalizes that he did what he had to do to save the little birds. At this point, he notices a thorn stuck in Grimlock's paw as the likely source of the Dinobot's extra aggression. With some advice from Ratchet over the comm, Prowl uses controlled bursts from the EMP to stabilize the affected area, and Bulkhead yanks out the spike. Grimlock sighs in relief, and everything is all better.

Before they can head home, however, Ultra Magnus contacts the Autobot base with a message that Starscream has escaped and was last seen headed back to Earth. They would have sent that message sooner, but it seems their tachyon transmitter has gone missing. Megatron, who has been intercepting the message, takes a look at his own tachyon transmitter and sarcastically wonders where the Autobots' could have gone. He then wastes no time putting out a bounty on the escaped Decepticon traitor.

Back on the island, Prowl is feeling pretty tough after taking down the big, bad Grimlock all by himself and is already contemplating a similar hunt for Starscream. At the very least, while they're in the neighborhood, he and Bulkhead use Teletran-1's sensitive scanners to locate Starscream's AllSpark fragment...on the Moon. Prowl believes they have everything they need to go after him right away, but Bulkhead reminds him that Starscream is a little out of their league if it's just the two of them. Prowl agrees, but as soon as Bulkhead is off the ship and his back is turned, Prowl takes off in the ship's emergency shuttle by himself and heads for the Moon.

Prowl tracks the AllSpark fragment to the remains of the Decepticon warship. Optimus and Ratchet try to warn him how crazy his plan is and order him to return, but Prowl disregards them with some unconvincing fake static and heads inside the ship. He believes the mission of apprehending Starscream is best suited to a single bot built for stealth. Then, as he's sneaking around, his target finds him first and asks him derisively whom he's seeking here. Way to use that stealth...

Before Starscream can fire his null ray, a well-placed shuriken disables it. The fight begins, and thanks to the EMP, Prowl manages to hold his own. Starscream eventually gets in a direct hit, but on a hologram. The real Prowl gets into position, and an EMP blast knocks out the Decepticon. As soon as the fugitive is stasis-cuffed, a newcomer walks up and offers to take the bounty off his hands. It's Lockdown...wearing a poncho? He and Prowl start to fight over the prize. Meanwhile Starscream comes to and yells at them to stop fighting because (as he says) he is afraid of rusting well before anybody wins. Neither combatant appreciates Starscream's comments, and both yell back at him to shut up and to lie still. He follows their orders and keeps silent for some time. But soon the fighters notice that their "prize" is silent for a bit too long. Looking down, they discover that he has already released his stasis cuffs and escaped safely. Outside, Starscream (who is strangely brown-coloured) blasts Prowl's shuttle and flies off toward Earth. Lockdown decloaks his own ship and takes pursuit, with Prowl hitching a ride on the hull.

Lockdown is finding it difficult to locate Starscream's Decepticon signal when Prowl ambushes him, deflecting a counter-attack with a shield mod borrowed from Lockdown's own display case. Once they're at a standstill, Prowl points out that he knows how to track Starscream's AllSpark fragment, but he'll need Lockdown's sensors to do it. Thus a partnership is created, and Lockdown offers his new friend a few more upgrades to make sure they get the job done right.

Lockdown's ship touches down in Detroit and disguises itself as a building again. Lockdown and Prowl transform and roll out, with Prowl enjoying the feel of his new samurai armor/sidecar. They track the signal to a highway where Starscream is cowering beneath a bridge. When they confront him, they notice that there's something wrong with him. He behaves considerably more cowardly than usual, and is painted considerably more purple. Prowl shows off his upgrades, flying circles around the fleeing Decepticon and eventually taking him down with an EMP blast. Lockdown is impressed. With the bounty secured, he contacts Megatron and arranges a meeting at an abandoned warehouse. Prowl is shocked to learn the two-faced bounty hunter he'd partnered with had been working for someone evil. When Starscream begs Lockdown not to hand over him to Megatron, Prowl tells him to calm himself and attempts to cross Lockdown. However, the tough bounty-hunter double-crosses Prowl, tying him up with a bola, and drives off with his bounty in tow.

The other Autobots show up to untie their errant companion and chew him out, but Prowl is more interested in continuing pursuit of Starscream. The rest of the team follow, but point out that Prowl is starting to sound too much like Lockdown, as the mods are going to his head.

They almost catch up with Lockdown and the purple Starscream when they're stopped on the road by the arrival of another Starscream. This one sports a brown and off-white color scheme and rather a sly and manipulative personality. He attempts to negotiate a pact with the Autobots to work together and destroy Megatron, but Prowl turns down the offer and attacks. Using his new arsenal, he leads, disarms, and disables the brown Starscream. It's a cool but messy victory. Ratchet scolds Prowl for not just taking him out with a single EMP blast. Prowl attests that his way was more fun, but Ratchet points out all the collateral damage he caused, including a knocked down bird's nest with its eggs broken all over the sidewalk. On the contrary, Starscream praises Prowl's "fine and effective sudden attack" and even doubts if he is really an Autobot "from top to toe". Prowl feels awful upon realizing what he has done, but puts it aside. Chasing Lockdown is still more important for him.

Prowl sneaks into the warehouse where Lockdown had set up the meeting with Megatron, intending to prevent the Decepticon leader from dealing with Starscream. Megatron declares his intention to punish Starscream exemplarily. But before he has the chance, Prowl accidentally gives away his presence. Megatron orders Blitzwing and Lugnut to take "the Autobot offender" in charge, but the other Autobots burst in, bringing yet another Starscream. Before anyone can figure out which is the real one, the two Starscreams open their cockpits to reveal a pair of ticking time bombs. The real Starscream's voice announces that it was all part of his plan to take his enemies all out at once. Megatron isn't about to sit around and be blown up, though, so he shoots the skylight and calls for the Decepticons to transform and rise up. Lockdown escapes safely, though rewardless.

The blast will take out half the city, so Prowl uses his mods to weld the Starscreams together and jam their jets on so they rocket straight up into the atmosphere. The explosion doesn't harm the city (besides setting off a lot of car alarms) but does do a number on the fleeing Decepticons.

While Lockdown is escaping from the planet again, he contacts Prowl and offers a permanent partnership, since they're so much alike. Prowl turns down the offer, claiming it was fun while it lasted, but the super-charged bounty hunter life just wasn't his style. With all his upgrades shorted out or gone, Prowl detaches the one mod that got out without a scratch, Ratchet's EMP generator, and returns it to its rightful owner.

Later, Starscream sits within his new base aboard the wreckage of the Decepticon warship and watches an announcement from Megatron stating that the bounty on the fugitive has been increased, but whoever captures him had better make sure it's the real deal. Starscream himself is furious that his trap failed, but it doesn't matter, as he has plenty more decoys where that came from...
[Ratchet and Prime are communicating with Prowl and Bulkhead over the radio]<br>
Ratchet: Prowl, any sign of the Dinobots?<br>
Prowl: Negative, Ratchet. I'm starting to think those reports of rampages were nothing but exaggeration.<br>
Optimus: We're not taking any chance, Prowl. That's why I had Ratchet lend you his EMP generator and those stasis cuffs.<br>
Prowl: Still, I hardly think they're necessary. The Dinobots are territorial, but if left alone, they're perfectly happy.<br>
[Grimlock roars, then runs out of the forest, charging the Autobots]<br>
Bulkhead: He doesn't look too happy to me!
Prowl and Lockdown: Will you keep quiet?!
:—Prowl and Lockdown tell Starscream where to stick it.

"No! No, please! Leave me alone!"<br />
Sycophant Starscream: Wait, you misunderstand. Noble Optimus Prime, wise Ratchet, stealthy Prowl and mighty...eh...<br>
Bulkhead: Bulkhead!<br>
Sycophant Starscream: Ooh, that's too bad.
:—Starscream pulls a Bumblebee

"Did you really think I would offer so little a challenge? I allowed you to capture these clones to fulfill my plan to eliminate you all! Especially you, MegaFOOL! Mwa-hah-ha-ha-ha! In moments you will be blown to bits, and I will become the Supreme Leader of ALL DECEPTICONS!"
Notes
Animation or technical errors
* The large spike stuck in Grimlock's foot is nowhere to be seen in the full-body shots previous to Prowl discovering it.
* The dialogue suggests that the spike is jammed through Grimlock's foot, but the animation shows it merely stuck between his toes.
* When Lockdown first appears, his head is missing the design across his forehead.
* Just after mud-coloured Starscream tells the Autobots of his plan in joining forces, his mouth disappears.
* Ratchet's war wound disappears when he's telling Prowl to get rid of his mods, just after his showy (and destructive) capture of the red Starscream clone.
* After Lockdown's ship lands and he and Prowl transform, Lockdown's head is seen forming the engine block. In the next shot, his engine emerges from the hood, where his head previously formed it.
* Blitzwing's "missing wings" bit from Mission Accomplished returns when we first see him.

Continuity errors
* When Starscream tells them he'll rust, in a vacuum, Lockdown and Prowl tell him to shut up, an action that should be impossible, given that sound cannot carry in space. In fact, during all the time spent in space, the characters interact with each other as if they were under atmospheric conditions - of course, they could have open commlinks to each other.
* Why doesn't anyone notice that the Starscreams are different colors? Sure, the coward's paint job isn't that noticeable, but wouldn't they notice that the other guy's orange?

Transformers references
* The Starscream clones are, of course, a reference to the Seekers of Generation 1, most notable for being hordes of disposable Decepticons in "More than Meets the Eye" (and then kinda vanishing save for rare appearances later).

Continuity notes
*It seems that since the events of the last episode Bulkhead has grown a taste for oil, as he can be seen drinking it when he and Prowl are first on Dinobot Island.
*Starscream's cloning process will be revealed in "A Bridge Too Close, Part I", using pieces of his Allspark fragment to power them and explaining why they show up on the Allspark scanners in this episode. Exactly where he got the raw material for the clones won't be revealed until "Endgame, Part I", in which we're told they're made from the protoforms stolen back in "Five Servos of Doom".
*It's not the first time in Animated that an Autobot sacrifices a new upgrade to launch a bomb that could destroy Detroit into upper atmosphere.

Real-world references
*This episode contains numerous references to A Fistful of Dollars, including the title, Lockdown wearing a poncho in his first appearance, and the Mexican standoff scene in the warehouse.
*A Fistful of Dollars is, in turn, a Western adaptation of Yojimbo, which also accounts for Prowl's samurai armor.
*Grimlock's foot problem recalls "The Lion and the Mouse", an Aesop's fable about a mouse who befriends a lion by pulling a thorn out of his paw. Or the tale of the Christian Saint Jerome, whose life was saved by the lion he'd helped when he later encountered it in a Roman circus. Or the story of Androcles and the Lion...it's been done a lot.
*Five Banners Roller Coaster Kingdom is a reference to the Six Flags chain of amusement parks and possibly Magic Kingdom as well.

Trivia
*This episode was first aired in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.
*Bumblebee and Sari are absent from this episode, with Optimus saying that they're on an "important fact-finding mission" (an amusement park). Therefore, we don't get to see if Sari's hair grew back since last episode.
*Lugnut and Blitzwing, on the other hand, appear but say nothing, as do Jazz and even Sentinel Prime. Result!
*The clones seem to embody elements of Starscream's personality, the purple Starscream representing Starscream's cowardice and the reddish-brown Starscream representing Starscream's sycophantic, flattering nature.
*Both altered-color clones use Starscream's original colors as a base, but the sycophantic one runs towards "hotter" colors playing up the red and white (a little devilish, perhaps?), while the cowardly one has colors more on the "cold" end, leaning into purple and stony grey.

*While you could be forgiven for assuming Prowl's armor was a Hasbro idea, it actually predates the toy. Hasbro decided to make a toy of it after watching the episode.
*The other Autobots, and eventually Prowl as well, treat his upgrades as a bad thing. In the story, this makes sense because Lockdown acquires his trophies by hacking them off other Transformers, a practice the other characters had previously shown to find extremely distasteful (at best). Oddly, this goes against everything Hasbro wants us to believe.
*While Ratchet seems to be the moral compass of this episode, the day is only saved by Prowl's use of his upgrades.
*Apparently Starscream put a few extra zeros in when programming the timer on the clones. His plot might have worked if he hadn't given Megatron three minutes to run away.
*Exactly why does Lockdown wear a poncho? Apparently it's a handy dandy stealth device. That's right people, stealth poncho! No good ninja pretending to be Mexican should be without it.
*When the probe from Teletran-1 deploys, there is a Star Trek communicator chirp clearly heard.

He retains all of the gimmickry from the previous versions of the mold. Due to the fact that the motor block can go on either hand, it is possible to place the hook on the right hand and the chainsaw on the left one on the deluxe figure, thus recreating the flashback scene seen in "The Thrill of the Hunt".

Shrug.
