autobot
:Rung is an Autobot from the Generation 1 continuity family.

Rung is a psy-ops specialist for the Autobot army. His reports are added to the Autopedia entries for each Autobot. He transforms into a communications maintenance vehicle with a long ladder-like repair arm. As part of his duties, he performs the mental assessments of potential Wreckers-to-be.

Fiction
IDW Generation 1 continuity
While hanging out at Macadam's Old Oil House, Rung spilled a cadet's drink. After refusing to clean up the spill, the poor bot was tossed across the bar, right onto Impactor and Megatron's table. Chaos Theory Part 1

Rung did a psychological evaluation of Impactor before his trial for unlawful executions. He ended up being physically assaulted and threatened with extreme violence if he tried 'putting ideas' in Impactor's head, but managed to calm the situation down. In the end, Rung was left questioning whether Autobot High Command shared the blame for Impactor's crimes for turning a blind eye to the robot's growing psychopathy. Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 5

Rung later performed a pre-mission psych-screening on new Wreckers Rotorstorm, Ironfist, Pyro, and Guzzle to estimate if they were suited to be put on the Garrus-9 case. Rung was unimpressed by Rotorstorm's unrelenting bragging and joking, and found himself cutting through the charade when he mentioned Simanzi. Taking note of his dual personality, Rung declared him cleared for mission. Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 1 With Pyro, he diagnosed the robot as an extreme sufferer of Primus apotheosis and noted with sadness that the robot was suppressing his own engaging personality for a copy of another's. He cleared Pyro with reservations, noting that apotheosis sufferers were known for sacrificing themselves. Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 5 With Guzzle, he cleared the 'bot as having personality flaws but no real psychological flaws, though he was unnerved by his disturbing habit of playing with his gun's safety. Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 5

When screening Ironfist, he was impressed by his enthusiasm and knowledge, but not so much by his actual combat experience and mentality. Rung advised against Ironfist's participation, but retracted his negative conclusion when he received 'unsolicited advice' from an undisclosed party. Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 4

Rung treated the shell-shocked Autobot Flattop. He discovered Flattop was a survivor of the Babu Yar atrocity, but that was not his immediate problem. What pushed him over the edge this time was an encounter with the Shimmer. Rung tried to give rational explanations for the appearance of Shimmer, but Flattop died right there in his office. Bullets

Kup, one of Rung's oldest friends, asked him to examine Springer after a zero point affliction had left him in a coma. Believing that certain emotional triggers could cause Springer's subconscious to force his spark across the zero point, Rung asked Roadbuster to read Wreckers: Declassified datalogs to him in hopes that the memories would have some effect. Zero Point

Rung was among the survivors of Cyclonus's attack on Kimia Facility. He and the others drifted in a cramped escape pod for some time until they were rescued by Arcee. Chaos Part Three: Kings

After Cybertron was reborn in the wake of the D-Void's defeat, Rung joined Rodimus's crew on the Lost Light in search for the Knights of Cybertron. Before he could get on the ship, his arm was detached by a wildly flying Cyclonus. Liars, A to D Part 1: How to Say Goodbye and Mean It After getting his arm repaired in Ratchet's care, Rung was choked by an irrational and unresponsive Whirl. The psychiatrist managed to get him to release his grip when he reminded Whirl that he would go back to prison, forever, if he didn't stay in line. When Skids joined the crew, Rung informed him of their quest. Liars, A to D Part 2: Hangers On Rung later had a close call with a Sparkeater, but was saved by Skids. Rodimus used the two to lure the Sparkeater so he could defeat it. Liars, A to D Part 3: The Chaos of Warm Things

Red Alert, having previously been one of Rung's longest-standing patients, returned to therapy shortly after the launch of the Lost Light. Rung was concerned that all the progress they had made on Red Alert's rampant paranoia over the years was coming undone. Red Alert informed Rung that he was hearing noises coming from a crack in the floor of the Sparkeater's chamber. He gave him a recording of the noise which Rung vaguely recognized as a voice, albeit tremendously slowed-down. When they sped the sound up, the words "kill...me" could be identified. How Ratchet Got His Hands Back

Interiors
Rung held a session with the newly-returned Fortress Maximus, whose mental state had been called into question after he had suffered torture and humiliation at the hands of Overlord for three years. Rung urged him to open up and explore his trauma, to no avail. Maximus later snapped and went on a rampage across the Lost Light, gunning down Autobots that reminded him of Overlord. Rung was in the middle of a session with Whirl when Max broke in and took them both hostage. Rung was bound to his chair and Whirl was overpowered and pinned to the ground. Rung tried to reason with Maximus, while simultaneously recording and broadcasting what was happening in his office through the microphone in his thumb. When Maximus noticed it, he tore Rung's thumb off.

As the situation dragged on, Rung continued to try and break through to Maximus. Max kept dodging the issue, pinning the reason for his actions on Prowl's delay in sending help to Garrus-9, instead of acknowledging that Overlord was at the root of his psychosis. Maximus then confronted Whirl, who told Maximus about his life. Rung expressed wonder at this, as there were details that Whirl told Maximus that he's never told Rung. Whirl replied that Rung had never threatened any of his friends, to Rung's visible surprise. When a holo-image of Overlord torturing him was projected into the room by Rewind, Maximus froze up and crumbled to his knees. Rung tenderly comforted him and the hostage situation appeared to be at an end. Unfortunately, a shot from Swerve meant to disable Fortress Maximus instead hit Rung in the head, killing him instantly. A memorial service was later held for Rung, which Rodimus presided over. Interiors

Notes
* A psychoanalyst named Rung was referenced in the unofficial Transformers novel Eugenesis, written by James Roberts.
* The name "Rung" may be a reference to Carl Jung, founder of analytical psychology, and one of the mandala artists. The mention of "Rungian analysis" in "How to Say Goodbye and Mean It" could support this.
* Or maybe it's because he transforms into a communications tower maintenance vehicle with a long ladder arm.
* Incidentally, the above reference to "Rungian analysis" came from Tailgate on his way to the original Ark. This means Rung was an established psychotherapist as far back as six million years ago, in the times of Nova Prime, making him one of the few identified survivors of that era.

A license plate, officially a vehicle registration plate, also called a number plate or a vanity plate when personalized, is a metal plate attached to an Earth vehicle, usually a car, a truck or a motorcycle, that contains a unique registration ID with an official authority within the country the vehicle is operating in. It typically consists of numbers, letters or a combination of both. Some countries require license plates for the front and rear bumper of a car, while others (such as the USA) only require a rear license plate. In real life, the options of personalization differ a lot from country to country.

Since a lot of Transformers use Earth vehicles as their alternate modes, they often also sport a license plate as part of their disguise. Sometimes the license plates reveal the character's name, sometimes they contain a coded message, and sometimes they are just random numbers and letters.
Generation 1 (Europe)
*Clench/Colossus sports a weird license plate that reads "TEXAS 1953 NUE 480" in four rows. It's certainly not a Texan license plate, but it doesn't particularly look like any European license plate either.

Alternators / Binaltech
*Likewise, the Binaltech-only retool Smokescreen GT comes with the license plates "OT53 SRT" for the "#1" variant and "CT53 SRT" for the "#2" variant. *All versions of Meister, including the Binaltech-only red version (aka "Zoom-Zoom"), feature a rear license plate that contains an Autobot logo followed by his name, " MEISTER".
*Similar to his mold-mate Hound, both versions of Swindle only feature a front license plate sporting a lone Decepticon symbol, .
*Both versions of Grimlock feature a rear license plate sporting an Autobot logo followed by his name, " GRIMLOCK".
*Meanwhile, his Binaltech counterpart Overdrive has the same layout for the license plate, but sports an abbreviated form of his name, " OVRDRV", instead.
*Alternators Battle Ravage and Binaltech Ravage both feature a rear license plate sporting a Decepticon logo followed by an abbreviated version of the Japanese toy's (and Hasbro's Generation 1 toy's) name, " RVG". Early test shots of the Alternators version still sported an abbreviated form of the Hasbro name for the toy, " BTLRVG", which implies an intentional change.
*Alternators Shockblast features a rear license plate sporting a Decepticon logo followed by an abbreviated form of the character's Generation 1 toy's name, " SHKWAV". The Binaltech counterpart, Laserwave, replaces that with an abbreviated form of its Japanese name, " LWAVE".
*Both versions of Wheeljack feature a rear license plate sporting an Autobot logo followed by an abbreviated form of his name, " WHLJCK".
*The Alternators-only retool of Windcharger, Decepticharge, features a rear license plate sporting a Decepticon logo followed by an abbreviated form of his name, " DCHRG".
*Decepticharge's unreleased Binaltech counterpart, Blackwidow, featured a license plate sporting a Decepticon logo followed by the second half of her name, " WIDOW", in promotional photos.
*The Alternators-only retool of Tracks, Swerve, features a rear license plate sporting an Autobot logo followed by his name, " SWERVE".
*All versions of Prowl, including the Binaltech-only blue civilian variant, feature a rear license plate sporting an Autobot logo followed by the character's name, " PROWL".
*Both versions of Skids feature a rear license plate sporting an Autobot logo followed by his name, " SKIDS".
*Alternators Sunstreaker features a rear license plate sporting an Autobot logo followed by his full name, " SUNSTREAKER", as does the Binaltech Asterisk version. In fact, the license plate is one of the two elements of the two versions' decos that are identical, the other being the paint mask for the head. An earlier test shot of Alternators Sunstreaker sported an abbreviated form of the name in a different font, with an Autobot logo in the middle, "SUN STRK".
*The Alternators-only redeco of Swindle, Rollbar, was the first to feature a state-specific rear license plate, in his case his name, "ROLLBAR", registered in Colorado. Like Hound, he also features a front license plate sporting nothing but an Autobot logo, .
*The equally Alternators-only redeco of Silverstreak, Ricochet, followed suit, with a rear license plate sporting his name, "RICO-CHET", registered in the Garden State of New Jersey. Like Silverstreak and Rollbar, he also features a front license plate with a lone Autobot logo, .
*Alternators Optimus Prime features a rear license plate sporting an Autobot logo followed by the second half of his name, "PRIME", styled after a California plate but replacing the state name with his home planet of Cybertron in the same font.
*Bumblebee's toys alternatively sport two different license plates: The more prevalent one is "4NZZ454", based on the CG robot model of the "Concept Camaro" body used for the movie. It can be found on the Deluxe Class "Classic Camaro" toy's robot mode stomach (in contrast to the license plate the movie used for this body), which has a blank license plate on the vehicle mode's rear end, on Ultimate Bumblebee in both modes, and on the non-transforming Unleashed, Robot Replicas, Cyber Stompin' Robots and Tiger's Beatmix Bumblebee figures' robot mode stomachs. Ultimate Bumblebee and the Robot Replica, Unleashed and Beatmix toys also sport a California registration, while the Deluxe and Cyber Stompin' toys simply have a red line evocative of the "California" logo.
*The Deluxe Class "Concept Camaro" toy, meanwhile, adds an extra "Z", making it "4NZZZ454" for the robot mode's chest, again with a red line evocative of the "California" logo, while the vehicle mode's rear end again features a blank plate. This plate is also used for the battle damaged redeco from the Target exclusive "Bumblebee: Evolution of a Hero" two-pack, the Screen Battles "Capture of Bumblebee" redeco, the Target exclusive "AllSpark-enhanced" redeco and the Premium Series redeco/retool. The Premium version also adds the same license plate to the vehicle mode's rear end.
*The "Classic Camaro" Cyber Slammers toy does something else entirely, with a rear license plate sporting an abbreviated form of his name, "BUMBL-B", with a line evocative of a "California" logo above it... except both the letters and the line are blue. In robot mode, the license plate on his stomach is blank.
*Meanwhile, the Legends Class toys including the Cliffjumper redeco, the Cliffjumper redeco and the "Stealth Bumblebee" redeco/retool of the "Concept Camaro" Deluxe sculpt, the "Concept Camaro" Cyber Slammers toy, the Fast Action Battlers toys and the legless Bumblebee figure available as part of the Screen Battles "Final Stand" set with a minor redeco of Deluxe Class Longarm all sport blank license plates in both modes.
*Most of Barricade's toy sport blank license plates. The only exceptions are the "Recon Barricade" redeco of the Deluxe Class toy, which features a rear license plate sporting the name "SAGE2764", referring to the screenname of a member of a Chinese toy newsgroup pertaining to Recon Barricade's deco designer Joe Kyde, and the Premium Series redeco of the Deluxe, whose license plate sports an abbreviation of his Decepticon allegiance, "DCPTCN".
*Deluxe Class Arcee sports a license plate that reads "TF 7407", registered in Massachusetts. The number refers to the premiere date of the 2007 movie, which actually opened in US theaters on July 3, 2007. The Japanese-only "Black Arcee" redeco keeps the plate.
*The officially unreleased Target exclusive Scout Class figure Backtrack sports a license plate that reads "MR 37", registered in Kentucky. "MR-37" was the Japanese ID number of the Machine Robo version of the Tonka Guardian GoBot Night Ranger, whose color scheme Backtrack homages. The Kentucky registration makes the color scheme a double homage, to the University of Kentucky Wildcats.
*All other toys with vehicular modes sport blank license plates, despite often having the space for them specifically sculpted.
The same plate is also used for his Henkei! Henkei! counterpart. Early Hasbro prototypes used for stock photos and comparison photos in Japanese magazines sported an incorrect "WE R 82" license plate, which was thankfully caught in quality control in time for the final release. (It's also possible that the "82" version might have been a reference to the year the Diaclone predecessor of Sunstreaker, the "first transforming car-to-robot toy" according to Hasbro, was released.)
* Despite being used again for Dark of the Moon, the Bumblebee Camaro prop vehicle's license plate from Revenge of the Fallen, "900 STRA", was auctioned off by iCollector.com in October 2009.
* At the same time, iCollector also auctioned off license plate props used for Skids and Mudflap in their Chevrolet Beat and Trax bodies, respectively. In fact, there were two plates for both, "SKIDS" and "BEAT" for Skids and "MUDFLAP" and "TRAX" for Mudflap. Even though iCollector claimed the two sets were used for their robot and vehicle modes, respectively, this was directly refuted by screencaps included with the auction that depicted the two car props sporting their robot names on their plates. As stated above, the "BEAT" plate can be seen briefly in the movie, and it's possible the "TRAX" plate was used for the same scene (although the car's plate is offscreen during that scene).

No by-the-book soldier is Outback; for him, the rules of war are the rules of Rafferty. If the beaten track winds, it's a fair bet he'll go straight. He's more comfortable out in the never never anyway, up grades as steep as 50 degrees, or kicking up willie willies at 110 mph. His insubordination gains him little respect from his mates, and often he finds no partner on his missions but Pat Malone and his trusty rooftop tank-jigger, loaded with armor-piercing shells.

Way in the back blocks of Outback's mind, however, there lurks a dark certainty. By the rules of Rafferty he lives, and by these rules, he is sure, Outback's bound to be a write off. The army's run by Wallies and the war's a no-hoper, but he's not totally clapped-out yet, so he'll give it a fair go. It's not the best attitude, but he'll share it with anyone without reserve. Outback calls a spade a bloody spade.

Let a mission go down the gurgler, though, and Outback's the one who'll sort it. He may be largely a mediocrity; he may be an insubordinate grizzle, but his courage is beyond reproach. By the rules of Rafferty he lives, and so far they've served him well.
After an attack on the Galactic Olympics, Outback and Blaster were charged with tracking down any Decepticons on Earth, whom the Autobots believed were responsible for the assault. With reason to believe some 'Cons were hiding out at a Carbombya air field, the duo still had to deal with a needle in a haystack (or rather, a jet in an airport). In order to get results, Outback bluffed his way through the inspection with a "Decepticon detector", pointing it at random things and hoping for a response. He got one. Astonishingly, the two jets with giant Decepticon insignias on them were actually Decepticons(!), Dirge and Ramjet, who tried to run for it in fear of Outback's respectable scanning abilities. Outback caught them with a <s>nuclear bomb</s> smoke bomb, though, and he and Blaster managed to interrogate the Coneheads and get the location of the Decepticons' new base on Chaar. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1
Shortly thereafter, Outback was among a cadre of Autobots who failed to defend the Ark from an attack by Trypticon. He didn't even get a chance to open a can of Foster's. Bugger. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 5
Later, Outback was teamed with Blaster again aboard Sky Lynx when Perceptor radioed in that a mysterious Quintesson signal was broadcasting from a nearby planet. Investigating, the Autobots discovered a lost Quintesson recorded journal, containing secret information about how the Quintessons had purposely escalated a war between Xetaxxis and Lanarq, two feuding worlds for which Rodimus Prime was attempting to negotiate a peace summit. Galvatron and the Predacons also arrived looking for the journal, and soon the Autobots, Decepticons and Quintessons began a game of "hot potato", bouncing possession of the journal back and forth between each party over and over. Outback and the others eventually claimed the journal and brought it to the peace summit, ending the war at least temporarily. The Quintesson Journal
Outback, having at this point renamed himself Fallback to complement his revived sense of optimism, led an Autobot strike force consisting of Chromia, Flareup and Ricochet to the planet Ceti Alpha Seven. Their target was the Insecticon cloning facility constructed there by the Decepticon general Deathsaurus. The first batch of Virulent Clones had already been completed, and the team found itself under attack before they ever reached the lab. Fallback and his team destroyed a number of clones, but, when Deathsaurus himself joined the fight, they were overwhelmed and captured. The arrival of their teammates Ironhide and Ratchet on the planet ultimately resulted in Deathsaurus's defeat and the rescue of Fallback's team. Descent into Evil
He decided to take action and assassinate Drag Strip on his way to a race, but was interrupted and disarmed by the security guard Ironhide, who had never heard of Megatron and was only doing his job. During the war, Outback and Kup crash-landed on an unknown planet covered with radioactive crystals. When they attempted to use parts of their ship to create a transmitter, the radiation overloaded the generator, and Outback was killed in the explosion. Kup, however, was eventually driven insane by the radiation and not only talked to Outback's charred remains as though he were alive but used his severed arm as a club.

Springer was able to hack into the deceased Autobot's holo-emitter to try and send Kup a message that the Autobots were coming to rescue him, but the delusional Kup saw this as a ghost making threats upon his life. Outback's remains were further crushed by an errant swipe from one of the rescue party, sending Kup into another homicidal rage.
What they did with what was left of Outback is unknown. Spotlight: Kup
After Ironhide mysteriously woke up alone on an abandoned Cybertron, he had a strange vision or hallucination featuring Outback. Shortly after encountering Side Burn, the team was attacked by Deathsaurus's troops and forced to fight for their lives. Outback, Moonracer and Flak gathered around Ricochet's fallen body, though it took a few moments for Outback to realize that the Autobot had perished from his injuries. They had little time to mourn, as they were promptly attacked by Lyzack. Battle Lines, Part 3 A week after the battle, he was part of the Autobot forces at Iacon's city walls as the Decepticons broke through with Devastator. Battle Lines, Part 5 The battle was won, but cost the Autobots some of their members. * In the pre-Toy Fair 1986 catalog, Outback is shown with a solid red face. Upon release, he had a solid silver face (then for his Encore release many years later, he had a silver face with a blue visor).
* The character Fastback from Megatron Origin was written and designed to be a pre-Earth version of Outback. However, Fastback is killed during the events of the comic, contradicting how Outback died during the war in the previously established Spotlight: Kup, necessiting a quick name change that turned Fastback into a nobody.
* Roche wanted to use a "name" character as a victim in Spotlight: Kup, knowing it has more impact when they die than when a generic buys it.

As Outback was taken into custody, he told Ironhide that it was thanks to blind, apathetic 'bots like him that a civil war was imminent. Iron in the Blood

With half his body still missing, Outback delivered some cryptic comments about Optimus Prime being angry at Ironhide for letting the Stunticons get away, and that nobody recognized him anymore. Iron in the Blood

Wings Universe
Outback gained a job as Magnum's administrative assistant, though he preferred the freedom of the outdoors and would explore the wilderness sectors of Cybertron whenever he could. Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club issue 38 He answered the door of the Elite Guard Auxiliary Weapons Locker when Magnum brought a team to stock up on weapons, though he refused to let them in until Magnum gave the correct code. He, Ricochet and Moonracer joined the team as they set out to attack Deathsaurus's base. Battle Lines, Part 2

Soon later, when the Autobots' current reserve of energies was dangerously low, Outback joined his comrades still on Cybertron in stasis hibernation as an energy-saving measure. Battle Lines, Part 6
Why Outback? He doesn't know!
Spies generally come in one of two flavors: suave and sophisticated, moving through high-class circles with grace and ease, or quiet and unobtrusive, fading into the background unnoticed and doing their work in utter secrecy.

Rollout is a different flavor altogether: loud, brash, impulsive, violent and overall leaving one wondering just how in the hell he actually gets any of his objectives accomplished. His behavior is better-suited to front-line brawlers and heavy artillery units, especially his penchant for finding bigger, louder, and more devastating weaponry to try out. Send him to steal a file and he's likely to detonate the entire building it was stored in. When he's off-duty, he's constantly letting everyone know that he's seriously on some high-stakes top-secret mission that he totally can't give you any details about, but believe him, it's big important stuff! :Rollout is an Autobot Action Master from the Generation 1 continuity family.

But somehow... the job he was sent to do gets done, to the bafflement of just about everyone who's ever met him.

He probably would have been fine metal shavings centuries ago, or at least severely demoted, if it weren't for the efforts of his "partner" Glitch. Few realize that the tiny bot they consider a remote-controlled battle drone is actually working fervently behind the scenes (typically scenes of carnage and destruction that Rollout is smack in the middle of), stealing data, eliminating problems and—most importantly—covering up for Rollout's many, many mistakes.

Of course, Rollout keeps getting the credit for all this. Whether he's even cognizant of Glitch's role in their job is unknown, as is how Glitch himself feels about the arrangement.

Marvel Generation 1 comics
Rollout was one of the survivors in the aftermath of the war with Unicron. He was sitting in on a panel convened by the joint leaders of the Autobot-Decepticon alliance, but added nothing to their dialogue. Exodus!
Rollout was seen arguing with Mainframe while rebuilding Ironworks. Later, he fought the Junkions , but was captured and turned into a drone.

IDW Generation 1 comics
Rollout was stationed on the Garrus-9 penitentiary as a member of their crisis response units. During the sudden and brutal Decepticon attack on the facility, he supported the injured Sprocket. Spotlight: Arcee

After Cybertron was reborn in the wake of the D-Void's attack, Rollout joined Rodimus's mission to use the map within the Matrix of Leadership to find the Knights of Cybertron at Cyberutopia. The mission's departure in the Lost Light was interrupted by an explosion in the ship sending it into premature quantum jump. The resulting hull breach sucked Rollout out of the ship. Liars, A to D Part 1: How to Say Goodbye and Mean It He crashed on a nearby planet where he was retrieved by Rodimus and Ultra Magnus and taken back to the ship. Liars, A to D Part 2: Hangers On
: As part of the first wave of individually-carded Action Masters, Rollout is a non-transforming action figure, though he may have transformed into a bulldozer or excavator, as evidenced by the earth-moving shovel that forms his chest. He came with his transforming partner Glitch, and is compatible with any other Action Master partner, weapon or vehicle.

: Though several Action Masters have this problem, Rollout is particularly notorious for having his paint simply flake off in huge chunks. As all of his yellow and brown coloration is paint, this can lead to some very naked-looking Rollouts.
:Ultra Magnus is an evil Autobot from the Shattered Glass continuity family.

Ultra Magnus long ago grew weary of the tedium of war. He's killed so many and destroyed so much that it's started to all run together in his mind, reduced to a fine paste of boredom. It's been especially hard since he lost the trust of his friend Treadshot. Existence just seems so pointless without him at his side. Oh, Magnus has tried to make things interesting again, but each bigger and more elaborate coup only led him to a revolt against his bigger brother, Optimus Prime, and failure. For this he lost his face and his freedom, and he was locked away in the prisons of Paradron.

But soon, Ultra Magnus hopes to return and pull off the ultimate thrill. He's destroyed lives and property, certainly, but has he ever destroyed a universe? That would be grand, wouldn't it? Maybe it would even make him feel like he did at the start of the war, when everything was fresh and new. And when that moment comes, he hopes so fervently that his dear Treadshot will be there, with a final, oh-so-brief understanding that his once-friend was wrong to leave him.

At one point, Ultra Magnus led an attempted coup against Optimus Prime, with Hound and Blurr as his only known supporters, though Hound was reportedly a link between Magnus and Alpha Trion. Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club issue 28 However, during the battle between Optimus and Ultra Magnus, the former cheated. Eye in the Sky When the coup failed, Prime had Magnus exiled to Paradron as punishment. Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club issue 29

While trapped with Sideswipe in the maze leading to the Omega Terminus chamber, Blurr referred to Cliffjumper as a "traitorous lunatic". Sideswipe countered by saying that Blurr was one to talk, and asked how Ultra Magnus was doing. Blurr said Magnus was doing "better than Drench", at least. Dungeons & Dinobots

With the help of Wheeljack, Ultra Magnus was sprung from prison on Paradron, along with Wreck-Gar and his Junkions. After augmenting his body to match Optimus Prime's recent upgrade, gathering an army, and acquiring the legendary Terminus Blade, Magnus had the means to both humiliate his brother and make his mark on the multiverse. Before jumping through a portal into another universe via Wheeljack's Stellar Spanner, Magnus boasted of his imminent victory before his brother via video feed. This would prove to be Magnus's only mistake, as Optimus Prime forwarded Ultra Magnus's whereabouts to his obsessive nemesis, Treadshot.

Ultra Magnus and his army appeared in the sky over the Ironworks base on Primax 207.0 Epsilon's Earth. After most of the heroic Autobot opposition outside were corrupted and integrated into Magnus's army as Junkions, Ultra Magnus led them inside Ironworks, where he made quick work of a second wave. Complete victory was interrupted only by the arrival of Treadshot's heroic Decepticons through a portal. Though initially aggravated, Magnus quickly became elated when he saw Treadshot had come for him. However, Magnus's primary objective remained, so he used the Terminus Blade to send himself and his officers elsewhere.

Below, Wheeljack had erected machinery that would direct the Rarified Energon that Ironworks guarded to the surface, where it would interact with a space bridge projector that, with the introduction of the Terminus Blade, would open up a rift in space time which would help Magnus destroy... a lot. As Magnus battled Treadshot above ground, the machinery below was guarded by force field. Sir Soundwave and Octopunch managed to expand the perimeter of the force field to be large enough to protect the entire Earth, which they thought would save the day. However, Ultra Magnus had been thinking bigger, as he had planned to destroy the entire universe. Ultimately, Earth was protected as it was brought into orbit over his own universe's Cybertron as the entire rest of the Earth's universe was catastrophically destroyed by the chain reaction of Rarified Energon.

Content in his largely unimpeded victory, Magnus and his army fled, while Treadshot threatened lovingly graphic revenge.
