Ratchet discovers the fate of the other Autobots, and must fight Megatron on his own.

Synopsis
Walking through the woods in search of a road to drive Buster home, Ratchet and Buster meet up with a group of campers. As Ratchet demonstrates a new way to cook hot dogs, Buster experiences a severe head pain as an after-effect of his experience with Optimus Prime. Buster is taken home by the campers, leaving Ratchet free to deal with bigger problems.

Soundwave and Laserbeak use their innocuous alternate forms to infiltrate and take over another Blackrock installation, this time an aerospace plant that builds jet fighters. Blackrock breaks the news to a hospitalized Josie Beller, who apparently designed this aerospace plant as well. Blackrock swears that the giant robots will be stopped, but Josie is already making plans of her own.

Ratchet returns to the Ark alone to verify Buster's findings, and soon finds the inert Autobots. He despairs upon finding the head of Optimus Prime, but Prime counsels him to fight as a warrior to defeat Megatron. Uncertain of what this might mean, Ratchet agrees.

Jessie and "O" attempt to cheer up Buster, who is wondering how to handle his father's flagging car repair business while he's recovering in the hospital. Buster explodes at the pair when they suggest that he can learn to repair cars just as easily as his hard-working father. After they leave, Buster is gripped by another head-splitting pain—and recovers to realize that several metal objects nearby were apparently floating in the air.

Ratchet soon finds Megatron, who easily overpowers him. But he manages to strike a deal, sealed with the sacred Rite of Oneness: Ratchet will destroy Shockwave, in exchange for the return of the Ark and the Autobots inside. If he fails, Megatron will destroy him; if he succeeds, Megatron resumes his leadership of the Decepticons and wins regardless.

Errors
* The beam from Ratchet's laser scalpel isn't actually hitting the hot dogs.
* Soundwave is actually colored blue here. It matches his animation model, but within the context of the Marvel comic, it's actually an error, since he's always purple elsewhere.
* After being shown as little more than a torso in issue #5, Ironhide is now mostly intact again.
* For some reason, Megatron's Decepticon insignia is consistently off-center to the left whenever it appears.
* As he first confronts Ratchet, Megatron's fusion cannon has its own little Decepticon symbol!
* Buster's flashback shows him being hit by an energy wave from Optimus Prime's head. However, in the last issue, he received an energy surge by connecting two cables from Prime's head to his own.
* On page 20, Ratchet says he will help Megatron "Defend Shockwave" when he clearly means "defeat Shockwave".
* On page 22, the bubble that points to Ratchet stating "This much I knew or Shockwave told me" should probably be pointing to Megatron (Ratchet hasn't yet met Shockwave on Earth), but why couldn't they have just done the whole thing in one bubble?

Items of note
* Cameos: United States military, aerospace plant employees, TV reporter; Cliffjumper, Jazz, Prowl (or Bluestreak), Sideswipe, Ironhide (all deactivated); Rumble, Reflector?, a Seeker, and also two other Seekers in flight mode—assumably these are Starscream, Skywarp and Thundercracker, Grimlock, Sludge, Slag (in flashbacks).
* The UK issue #26 printed the entire comic, though several pages were without color.
* This issue was reprinted as issue #1 of IDW Publishing's Generations series.
* And now it's a jet plant that has its own heavy artillery. Is that even legal? (Again, however, none of this is actually effective against the Decepticons.)
* Blackrock has his own hospital: the Blackrock Chronic Care Institute.
* Ratchet states he is "a doctor, not a warrior," a Star Trek reference.
* The Decepticon base seen in Megatron's flashback sequence looks nothing like Castle Decepticon, which in the first issue was established as Megatron's base of operations. Presumably then, it is base Shockwave possessed before coming to Earth. Meanwhile, the building drawn in front of it seems to be inspired by a building seen in the first issue.

References
* Ferdy and Gabe talk about the Decepticons' theft of Blackrock's oil rig ("The Worse of Two Evils!"), just before taking Soundwave in so he can do the same to the plant at which they work.
* Megatron recaps why Shockwave stayed behind during the attack on the Ark (new info about events from issue #1) and his subsequent battle with the Dinobots ("The Last Stand").
Shockwave captures an oil-drilling platform, then is challenged by Megatron for command of the Decepticons.

Synopsis
Shockwave single-handedly attacks a high-tech oil rig belonging to industrialist G.B. Blackrock. The rig's defenses are largely ineffective, and Shockwave quickly conquers the platform. During the attack, electronics designer Josie Beller is severely injured.

Meanwhile, inside the Ark, Optimus Prime's still-living head instructs Buster to connect two wires from Prime's forehead to Buster's own. This results in an electric shock, knocking Buster unconscious. However, he remains unnoticed by the Decepticons, and returns to Ratchet to report his findings.

Megatron is still fuming when Shockwave announces his conquest to the other Decepticons. Unable to control his temper, he breaks free from his repair systems, and attacks Shockwave, blasting him across the Oregon landscape. But Megatron's injuries are not healed, leaving him vulnerable. Shockwave quickly defeats him, but refuses to grant him an honorable warrior's death, saying he has more value alive than dead... for now.

As witnessed by Ratchet and Buster, Shockwave returns to the Ark carrying Megatron's injured form. Shockwave uses the broken ex-leader as a demonstration to the other Decepticons of what they can expect if they challenge him... while outside, Ratchet and Buster huddle in despair.
Errors
* Josie Beller looks about 10 years older (and about half as bubbly) than she did in the previous issue.
* The oil rig is already on fire on page 3, before Shockwave has even fired a shot. In the same panel, the "base" of Shockwave's gun mode handle is huge.
* Shockwave's handle is longer than his gun barrel as the harpoon debris snaps free.
* The harpoon cables, which should still be speared through Shockwave's gun barrel, have disappeared as he transforms and lands on the rig.
* Throughout the issue, the Seekers are drawn with the "Van Gogh" ear, later picked up by José Delbo.
* Skywarp is colored mostly blue on page 9; it's unclear whether this was a genuine mistake or the typical use of blue to represent black from the comics of the time. Also on this page, Frenzy (or Rumble) is depicted as larger than Soundwave.
* Megatron identifies Soundwave, Frenzy and Rumble as boarding Skywarp, but Laserbeak (or Buzzsaw) is shown with them.
* As Shockwave flies across the landscape, the spatial physics make it look like he's about an instant away from smashing into the commercial street below him. Instead he somehow flies onward into a football field. In the same panel, the toy-based pegs on his arms are on the outside of his arms; if the toy is transformed correctly, those pegs are on the insidem-but they really shouldn't be there at all, not being part of his character model.
* On page 16, on the third panel, Megatron's speech bubble was likely meant for Shockwave, though the implication that Shockwave is stronger than Megatron is a bit odd.
* Page 21:
** First panel: one of the Seekers has a bizarrely inflated head.
** Second panel: Thundercracker is colored (mostly) like Skywarp, but with a red cockpit and blue face.
** Frenzy and Soundwave are shown in the assembly, even though they're supposed to be off repairing the oil rig. Shockwave does not list them among the troops.
** Soundwave is blue now, with a lavender head.
* As he mopes with Buster, Ratchet has a Decepticon symbol.

Items of note
* Cameos: Blackrock oil rig employees and security, Vallemont football team.
* What the hell kind of oil platform is equipped with executive corporate offices, a fleet of open-air attack choppers (at least eight of them) along with the security force to man them, harpoon guns, and freaking mortar cannons? Were they just expecting a Decepticon attack? (Of course, it's not like any of this is actually effective against a powerhouse like Shockwave...)

* The last panel on page 14 (Shockwave being blasted out of Mount St. Hilary and across town) looks like it was drawn by an entirely different artist. Indeed, a photograph of the original line art reveals the last panel has yellowed at a different rate. (This different artist is likely William Johnson, who draws Shockwave in a more toy-accurate style in the next two issues.)
The Autobots reach Cybertron and face off against Galvatron's forces.

Synopsis
At the Kimia Facility, Grotusque and Cloudburst are conducting a routine security inspection of the station. Downshift is none to happy about it, believing it to be unnecessary and boasts the station's security is top-notch. Just as he says this, the wall behind him explodes. Cyclonus and his Sweeps hover in front of the newly-made hole as Cyclonus announces his intent to take over the station. As Downshift notes the irony in the situation, Cyclonus punches him in the face and crushes his mouthplate. Grotusque and Cloudburst fire at Cyclonus and fall back to an armory on Level E. As they retreat, they notice Nosecone being attacked (and eaten!) by Sweeps. After blasting through some more Sweeps, they enter the armory, only to find it also occupied by Sweeps.

Elsewhere, more Sweeps claw their way into the Facility, and soon, they have it overrun. Cyclonus reports this to Galvatron, who stands triumphantly on Cybertron with his legion of Sweeps...

Inside Omega Supreme's shuttle, Megatron demands to know what's happening on Cybertron from Optimus. Prime, instead of answering, notes that he did not believe Megatron to be the sentimental type. Megatron snarls at Prime and states they both know Cybertron is more than a metal planet and begins to speak of what would happen if it fell into the wrong hands. Prime retorts that he doesn't think it's ever been in the right hands and tells Megatron what happens outside his cell is no longer of his concern. As Prime leaves, Megatron yells that Prime can't just walk away from him and that Prime doesn't know what he's capable of. Prime agrees with Megatron and leaves.

Outside Megatron's cell, Ironhide notes Prime is still letting Megatron get to him. Prime explains that he doesn't understand Megatron's recent behavior and is confused by it. Ironhide counters that there's not much to get and says Megatron is just a lunatic out to destroy everything and watch Prime suffer. Prime replies that it's good to have Ironhide back andstates that it's wonderful to see him so young again. Ironhide glumly replies he doesn't feel young.

On the communications deck, Optimus asks Jetfire if he's had any luck contacting Chief Justice Tyrest. Jetfire states he hasn't and explains that Autobot communication protocols have been scrambled since the Surge and that they don't know what channels or hailing codes Tyrest is on. Optimus tells him to keep trying.

Below, Ironhide tells the tale of the time he punched Alpha Trion in the face to Silverstreak, Drift, and Cliffjumper. Sunstreaker listens from a distance and is ignored after attempting to join in on the conversation. Sunstreaker, saddened, pets Bob for comfort.

Garnak contacts Optimus and Jetfire and tells them for Hot Rod they've arrived and that they're getting a message from the surface. Jetfire notes that he's been monitoring communications the whole time and they haven't gotten any messages. Garnak explains that the message was not sent over the radio.

Rodimus stands on the observation deck and looks out at Cybertron. As Ironhide, Jetfire, and Optimus come onto the bridge, he explains that the message is being sent in binary code created by Galvatron's army firing their weapons on and off. Jetfire translates the message into a request for a landing party for peace talks. Optimus notes that it's also a display of force- Galvatron is showing his sheer numbers. Cliffjumper states that it's the simplest message ever.

On Cybertron, Optimus, Ironhide, Cliffjumper, Rodimus, Sunstreaker, Bob, and Drift have landed and prepare to meet with Galvatron. Optimus tells everyone but Cliffjumper to accompany him to the talk with Galvatron. He tasks Cliffjumper with spearheading future landing parties and explains that he wants Omega's rocket to stay in space as it is their only way back home.

Galvatron welcomes Optimus to "his planet". After Prime calls him out on such a presumptuous claim, Galvatron explains he doesn't intend to keep it and merely wants it as a staging ground for his army. He then asks the Autobots to join him. Rodimus is shocked and expresses this. Optimus ignores Rodimus' outburst and asks what Galvatron is going to war against. Galvatron merely states that it is a threat that could destroy them all but elaborates no further. Rodimus states that can't be all, as Galvatron attacked him for merely being on the planet. Galvatron replies that attacking Rodimus was a mistake and that his soldiers weren't fully under his control yet. He then states that he doesn't answer to rivals or underlings and that the Autobots can be either—his word is enough. Optimus declines Galvatron's offer and states that he doesn't want things to come to violence. Galvatron begins to say that if Prime declines, things already have, and charges his gun to fire on Prime. However, he is interrupted by Ironhide tackling him, and after shaking the old bot off, orders his soldiers to attack.

An epic fight scene ensues.

During the battle, Galvatron blasts Rodimus and prepares to deal him a killing blow. However, Ironhide bludgeons Galvatron with a dead Sweep before he can. Ironhide then demands Galvatron explain what's going on. Cyclonus, appearing from nowhere, strafes Ironhide and grabs Galvatron before flying away.

As they fly, Cyclonus reports that Kimia is in orbit. Galvatron, pleased, tells his troops to begin the station's Conversion to alt-mode. Scourge begins the process with glee and Kimia begins to transform...

On Cybertron, more Autobots have landed. Sunstreaker states that he doesn't trust Galvatron and Cliffjumper notes that he would be an expert on the subject. Optimus tells them to stop and says that Galvatron obviously has a plan for Cybertron that he doesn't want anyone to know about. Drift asks why they just assume that and explains that he wouldn't mass an army to fight Autobots and then ask them to join. Cliffjumper asks if Drift has gone nuts and wonders if he has been paying attention. Before he harass Drift any further, the Autobots are bathed in red light, and above, a transformed Kimia fires a red beam of light at Cybertron...
