Brick is a fan term, usually derogatory, used to describe a Transformers toy that has particularly low articulation. Most examples of bricks tend to be smaller toys that have been given limited articulation to keep costs down. The Throttlebots and the Duocons are prime examples. Some larger toys, however, can also be described as bricks, such as Powermaster Optimus Prime and Ultra Magnus.

Due to the limitations of the toy technology of the time, bricks are usually molds originating in Generations 1 and 2 (some older toys were bricks not just to keep costs down, but to make the toy more stable for safety reasons); however, some more modern toys such as Armada Super-Base Optimus Prime have earned the same description. When modern toys are bricks, it is usually because a gimmick of some sort makes it difficult to add more articulation or because they are made for very small children (such as the Cyber Slammers).
Fracture is utterly loyal to Lord High Protector Megatron and the Decepticon cause. This is generally considered a good thing, as she's got more than a few screws loose and a destructive streak you could drive a space cruiser through. She can be counted on to charge into any engagement, regardless of the odds, often cackling madly. Though she can bring significant firepower to bear with her hand-held negative energy blaster, she far prefers to use the seismic energy dischargers built into her giant stompy boots to cause localized earthquakes.
Fracture was one of Stockade's "new Decepticons": a group of Decepticons who remained on the dying Cybertron and survived by feeding on Nucleon. Transformers Comic issue 17 She was not loyal to Megatron, as he was the git who caused Cybertron to start dying in the first place.

She helped Stockade summon an alien entity related to the AllSpark to Cybertron, and then opened up a "dock" for it to enter, thus rebirthing the world. She was then dispatched to chase down and recapture fleeing Autobots, which is probably good as then she didn't get to notice she'd helped to summon Unicron. Transformers Comic issue 18 The chaos caused her to lose the Autobots, and she returned to base to see what was happening; Stockade declared an end to hostilities against the Autobots so they could focus on Unicron. Transformers Comic issue 19

Fracture got to tell Stockade how daft it was to have them fight Unicron conventionally, and later got to help fight Unicron unconventionally by shooting up his insides. Transformers Comic issue 20
When the New Decepticons went to Earth to protect it from Starscream in the Autobots' absence, Fracture's job was to hit the lead drones with a frequency that would brainwash every other drone linked to them into switching sides. Transformers Comic issue 24 Thanks to her, by the early morning of the next day, the New Decepticons had won the Decepticon Civil War and only the Decepticon Heartland remained.

Fracture, doing recon, found nobody was home at the Heartland base, and believed Starscream must've fled. This turned out to be wrong though, as a revived Megatron began blitzing them! She showed some concern for Storm Surge, yelling at him to move as the laser-fire rained down, before getting stuck into the battle and trading shots with a jet-mode Starscream.

Unfortunately for her and her mates, the Autobots decided to teleport the New Decepticons to Cybertron along with Megatron's to ensure they didn't hold onto Earth. Fracture's now back on her homeworld, and trapped. See where good deeds get you? Transformers Comic issue 25
In the utopia before the war, Fracture was a warrior in Megatron's Cybertronian Defense Force. Years later, Fracture was one of the reinforcements sent to Earth by Soundwave, making her landing in Italy. She was in command of Gunbarrel and Reverb, who she led in a raid of a military base. After the latter scanned suitable Earth forms, she ordered Swindle and Dead End in San Francisco to provide a distraction for the Autobots and their human friends while the rest of their forces located their master. Alliance issue 3

The human-Autobot alliance evidently turned out to be more capable than the Decepticons realized. After the destruction of Reverb and Gunbarrel, Fracture was chased by the soldiers on a cliff-hugging road in the Italian Alps, running right into Ironhide, who rammed her right off the road and into the valley below. Her remains were retrieved by the military and presumably disposed of. Alliance issue 4
Notes
* According to the Hasbro designer panel at 2008, Fracture is not merely a homage to Crasher, but was intended to actually be the character, presumably having traveled from her home universe into the Transformers world, like certain other members of her race. This makes a lot of sense, given the original intention for the figure: Fracture was originally designed to be part of the 2008 Universe series (along with wavemates Breakaway and Crankcase), Universe having been the specific timeline into which her fellow GoBots traveled. With her subsequent move into the movie toyline, however, and her appearance in two different iterations of the movie continuity, it seems unlikely that the original intent for the character still holds true.

* In keeping with Hasbro original plans for her, they wanted to actually call her Crasher, but couldn't get the name. They then tried "Catalyst" but couldn't get that either. Stupid cross-dimensional legal issues.

* According to deco artist Joe Kyde, it took finding a real F-1 style racer in that black-and-white-with-red deco to seal the deal and get the toy made.
Some will vehemently refuse to admit it exists. Others really don't care about the brand beyond it. Regardless of opinions, Transformers engaging in or pursuing interaction of a romantic nature is a well-established element in pretty much every continuity. For the most part, Transformers are observed searching for romantic partners amongst their own kind, but attraction to organic lifeforms and even non-living objects has been documented as well.

Some wonder why a species that likely does not reproduce sexually would participate in behavior that in other creatures exists as a means to promote sex and thereby new life. While a definitive answer to this has yet to be given, the question as to why Transformers become romantically involved with one another can be approached from a different angle. Transformers are a highly social species. This is shown through their very human-like society, interpersonal interactions, familial relationships, and even the fairly common practice of merging bodies and minds. If these are not frowned upon, then why should social connections of the romantic kind be regarded much differently, if at all? Perhaps there is no reason for them to engage in romance, but then there is equally no reason for them not to.

Though rather obscure, there is even an official term for two Transformers in a relationship: "sparkmates". Existing as a fan term mostly, it has been used in two official sources, the end-of-game bio for Airazor, in reference to her and Tigatron, in the Nintendo 64 version of the "Beast Wars Transmetals" video game and again in Venus. In addition, Downshift's Cyber Key Code info appears to refer to Transformer marriage in stating that he and his partner "joined together under the Covenant of Primus".

Orientation
The most common observation of Cybertronian romance is between a male and a female Transformer. Considering the general scarcity of female Transformers, and perhaps the absence of sexual reproduction, this is a rather interesting if odd situation. Second to that are the number of noted relations between a Transformer and an organic, equally so almost solely between a (nominally) male and female. These become more frequent as the gender balance becomes less even, even if that is a direct result of Transformers allegedly being genderless. Third in line come "couples" that consist of a Transformer fawning over a not-living object, often regarding it as of the opposite gender.

Though not unheard of, same gender interests are extremely rare. The Japanese version of Beast Wars had Airazor as a male, making his relation with Tigatron the only known instance of a homosexual Transformer couple. At a distance follow Energon Mirage, who had the (unrequited) hots for Galvatron, Dick Gautier's joking "confirmation" at 2002, that Rodimus Prime is gay which is most likely impossible due to his examples of heterosexual romantic encounters listed below and Generation 1 Sunstreaker, who may have been gay in the Dreamwave continuity. Transformer/organic relations are not any richer in this regard. Paddles had a clear fondness of the humans Randall and Ed, and Magnificus and Ga'mede might have something going between them, but that's about it. A note could be made on the fair chance that Tigatron's beast mode represents a female tiger and was scanned from his partner Snowstalker, yet that is speculation at best.

The real world-explanation for the overall lack of anything specific between two of the same gender is that Transformers above all exists to sell toys to children and so has to play in on the wishes and expectations of the general audience. Even if attitude is improving, heterosexuality is still the default assumption and favoured option. A few same gender-relations may have appeared in fiction over time, at least the most prominent one by accident, but for the moment, writers still prefer to haul up Arcee or insert a new female (Transformer) to fill the romance niche than play up that sort of interaction in same gender context.

Sex
The hints are few and far between, but Transformers is not devoid of the possibility Transformers might engage in sexual activities (for recreational purposes). Kissing is a regularly observed sign of affection and in The Headmasters episode "Return of the Immortal Emperor", Chromedome was rather thrilled he got to see Arcee transform. Nevertheless, Beast Wars was the first to pick up the subject in a more direct manner: in the episode "The Agenda (Part 1)", Rattrap offers to take Silverbolt to what sounds like a Cybertronian version of a strip club, and later slyly makes a double entendre regarding Silverbolt's suspected kinky activities with Blackarachnia. Meanwhile, the Japanese dub has Rattrap, thinking himself about to be stabbed by Dinobot, ask his attacker to "be gentle, because I've heard the first time can hurt."

Holy shit. Seriously?

References and innuendoes have sporadically been appearing since. Beast Wars Neo featured the character Archadis, who makes a sport out of coming up with double entendres. Scarlett and Bumblebee had a suggestive conversation about "riding" him in "Wolves", and in "The Art of War issue 3", Arcee promised Bumblebee to "rotate his tires" if he could beat her, to which he responded with a most enthusiastic "Wooo-Hooo!". In the Dreamwave issue "Infestation", one remark from Sunstreaker might suggest the existence of Transformer S.T.D.'s. In the ever-questionable Kiss Players double-entendres ran rife, with one of the most disturbing involving Optimus Prime deriving pleasure from Marissa Faireborn polishing his stick shift and rubbing the rim of his gas tank, which are pretty clear metaphors for... well... y'know.

And that's about it as far as canon is concerned. If you wish to know any more on the matter of Transformer sex, go ask a random fangirl. Chances are well she has written or read a good number of fan stories exploring the subject. Take note doing so will be at your own risk.

Most commonly, Transformers stick to their own kind when becoming romantically entangled. This is to be expected, as those of their own kind share the cultural and bio-technological mindset that makes their personalities more likely to be compatible. Despite the low number of female Transformers, most relations seen thus far are between a female and a male. What this means for Transformer culture - Are relations something rare? Is there programming or something that only connects a male to a female and vice versa? And if so, why does it exist? - goes unexplained.

Perhaps because reproduction does not seem to be a motivation for them to become romantically involved or perhaps because finding a proper partner among their own kind is not always an easy task, more than one Transformer at one point in their life made nice with an organic lifeform. However, virtually nothing is known about how the long-term cases worked out, what with physical differences such as size, lifespan and aging, and cultural differences - up front the constant influence of the war.

As to why organic lifeforms sometimes get head-over-heels for beings that can't fulfill the very reason they seek out partners, is another matter. In the case of humans, several authoritative works have been written on relevant aspects of their biology. Readers are advised to seek them out for further reference.

While the ability to at least exchange thoughts can explain the interest some Transformers have for beings not belonging to their own kind, that pretty much doesn't go for the interest some of them have for non-living objects. Unless the fact they often treat them as if alive has something to do with it. This is possibly not as odd as it seems: Transformers are, after all, part object themselves, some even having been upgraded from a mere piece of machinery. In that sense, it is perhaps harder to understand why it doesn't happen more often. Fancy that sleek piece of car? Oh, so it's one of those not talking back?

Jolt has a tendency towards mischief making. Like any prankster, he's pretty impulsive, and if trouble rears its head, you can bet Jolt is going to try to be in the middle of it. (Though he more often ends behind it, mostly out of focus, as luck would turn out.) Luckily, he's got the fighting ability to make sure his head stays on his shoulders, utilizing electric whips in battle.

When the Autobots mobilized in response to a sudden surge in Decepticon activity, Jolt rolled into action at the head of the pack, but he was not among the Autobot team who fended off Megatron and Starscream after the two Decepticons killed Optimus Prime in a forest brawl. Jolt reunited with the other Autobots before they headed back to the NEST base on Diego Garcia, but the team was scarcely given any time to mourn Prime's passing; as soon as they returned, they were accosted by military forces under the command of Theodore Galloway. The emotionally brittle Autobots did not take this show of force well, and charged their weapons; Jolt began emitting bright sparks of electricity in anticipation of a fight, but things soon calmed down as Galloway announced that NEST was being disbanded by presidential order.

Jolt later accompanied the Autobots and their human allies to Egypt, for a climactic battle against The Fallen's Decepticons. He is seen shooting at Decepticons behind Sideswipe. During the course of the battle, Sam Witwicky used the Matrix of Leadership to bring Optimus Prime back to life, at which point the aged Jetfire volunteered to sacrifice himself, so that Optimus could use his parts to give himself a power boost. Following Ratchet's directions, Jolt used his electric whips to link Prime up with Jetfire's remains, generating an electromagnetic field that levitated and bonded the necessary parts to Prime's body, giving him a powerful new flight-capable form which he then used to destroy The Fallen. Revenge of the Fallen (film)

Some time after the defeat of the Fallen, while the Autobots were still in the process of rounding up the Decepticons scattered across Earth, Jolt was part of a unit sent to Beverley Hills, Los Angles, to apprehend Reverb. The Autobots attempted to subtly divert Reverb away from human traffic to minimize collateral damage, but the rambunctious Jolt jumped the gun and began pursuing the motorcycle Decepticon through the City of Angels. Tearing across pavements and parks with no regard for the humans in his way, Jolt attempted to stop Reverb with his electro-whips, but instead wound up striking a power pole and blowing every electrical system in the immediate vicinity. Thankfully, Reverb was captured by Bumblebee, but Jolt's carelessness landed the Autobots in a lot of trouble with Theodore Galloway. Optimus Prime stressed the importance of treading carefully to Jolt, who promised to be "the soul of discretion".

Unfortunately, two days later, discretion was nowhere to be seen when Jolt went hog-wild in the middle of Las Vegas, battling the martial artist Decepticon Bludgeon. With one of his electro-whips severed by the Bludgeon's sword, Jolt was sent crashing through a casino wall, but what stung more were the Decepticons' taunts that everything would have been fine if he had not been so overzealous and allowed him to leave the city before attacking. Bludgeon then turned his attention to the casino's patrons, but a repentant Jolt threw himself in the path of the blast meant for them. As Bludgeon loomed over him, preparing to strike with his sword, Jolt seized the blade and used his powers to channel the entire output of Las Vegas's electric grid straight into the skeletal samurai. Although Bludgeon was defeated by the monumental shock, the city was left blacked out by Jolt's stunt, and Optimus Prime was reluctantly forced to confine him to base. Jolt accepted his punishment, but as he walked back into headquarters, he overheard a transmission came through from a NEST squad in the field, announcing they were under Decepticon attack... and Jolt gritted his teeth for action... Transformers Comic issue 2.9

He later underwent further training alongside Dune Runner and Rollbar, and undertook a survival exercise in Death Valley, California. He noted to Dune Runner that Bumblebee had found a pretty horrible place to train. He followed Rollbar's lead to a deserted ghost town and happily used his powers to track down the recharge pack the Autobots had hidden there. However, he also found...Dead End! His left arm was torn off, and though he ordered Rollbar to focus on Dead End and not him, the monster Decepticon still tore through the other cadets. Realising they were running on empty, a desperate Jolt used every bit of power in the recharge pack to charge up an electro-whip and knock Dead End out before he could kill the others.

At Rollbar's urging, the cadets took the Decepticon back to Diego Garcia for medical treatment. Ratchet told Jolt and the others that this act of mercy showed they had what it takes to be real Autobots. Transformers Comic issue 2.11

Following this, they spent some time under Springer, a famed veteran of whom they were in awe. He taught them always to do the unexpected. Jolt, to the shock of the other cadets, spoke up during training to say they'd done enough exercises and they'd like to have a go at real combat. Springer agreed, and Jolt blew off the other cadet's claims of Springer having a rep as a monster by noticing that he was just a true soldier. A few days later, in Texas, they got that combat op: Springer distracted Tankor while the cadets snuck round to free hostages. However, Jolt spotted Dirge coming in to get the drop on the commander and decided to leave his mission to get involved in the fight. Using his electro-whips, he redirected Tankor's fire into Dirge and saved the day! Springer was pissed that Jolt had disobeyed orders, but Jolt flippantly said that hey, he'd just been doing the unexpected, like he'd been taught. Transformers Comic issue 2.12

Jolt and his crew would be called in to NEST Ops Vancouver to search for the missing Stratosphere; they knew he may have died, but Jolt said they had to look anyway. It turned out he was doing fine on his own and had just saved the day before they arrived, with was a bit embarrassing for Jolt Transformers Comic issue 2.14

Later, back at the NEST base, Jolt was cited by Theodore Galloway as an example of Lennox not following protocols and alerting him to new recruits. It seemed Galloway, like most everyone else, never noticed Jolt had been around since before the rise of the Fallen. Nefarious issue 2
Jolt and his fellow cadets, Knock Out and Dune Runner, joined Bumblebee on a mission to transport the captured Soundwave to a secure location. They were shot down en route by Soundwave's minions.
Later, Jolt learned that Bumblebee was defending Sam Witwicky from a Decepticon attack all alone, and was eager to get out there to help him. To his disappointment, Optimus Prime instead ordered him, Knock Out and Dune Runner to remain on Diego Garcia and keep an eye on the captive Fearswoop along with a number of confused Autobot refugees liberated from Carter Newell's control. Rising Storm issue 2 Jolt took to guarding Fearswoop, but while he was making himself busy telling the prisoner off and reading comic books, the corpse of Knock Out suddenly crashed through a wall, courtesy of Shockwave. Later on, Jolt faced off Decepticon courier Payload. He had no idea how he ended up having to deal with such a powerful hulk of a beast, but as long as he was there, he couldn't just back down. Heck, considering Ratchet's by his side this time, the fight's almost even. His plan of confusion and distraction should mess with the reckless Payload's headlong charges long enough for him to tame the bullheaded Decepticon with his stunning electro-whips, after which he and Ratchet could go in and take him down. #Deluxe Class toys 2
Legends Class toys
*Jolt (Legends, 2009)

:Part of the sixth wave of Revenge of the Fallen Legends Class figures, Jolt transforms into a blue Chevrolet Volt. Tiny whips are molded onto his arms, making him one of the few Legends toys to feature weaponry.

Deluxe Class toys
*Jolt (Deluxe, 2009)
**Japanese ID number: RA-19

:Deluxe class Jolt transforms into a blue Chevrolet Volt with translucent blue plastic windows. His alt-mode is very conspicuously split where his arms and legs separate during transformation. In robot mode, he has light blue "electro whips" in each arm which are deployed by turning a small knob on his wrist. His head features blue light-piping for his eyes, but there is a gray protrusion behind his head which completely prevents light passage. This protrusion also prevents his ball-jointed head from turning other than in the slightest of angles. Turning his waist activates his Mech Alive feature, which consists of moving gears inside his translucent upper chest (it is really hard to see). Jolt also has swiveling knees, but sadly, the kibble blocks it off just like the head.

:Sadly, out of the Revenge of the Fallen toys released as of late summer 2009, Jolt has lost the most paint applications of anyone, losing nearly all blue paint detailing on his chest and all red detailing present in the promotional photos. This leaves his robot mode looking rather plain.

:The picture to the right shows Jolt's feet mistransformed—at least according to the instructions, which show that the two halves of his alt mode's back bumper forming his toes should be turned inward 90 degrees. Which depiction is the actual mistransformation is debatable, as the "official" transformation makes the left toe piece stand a couple millimeters higher than the right one due to the presence of a joining peg. The large pieces of kibble on his back should also be rotated and fitted into his shoulders.

:In a twist of awesome irony, he is a Movie Autobot who has the classic Autobot faction symbol on his chest.

:During part of 2010, Hasbro did a promotion wherein US fans could receive three free Deluxes in exchange for receipts showing the purchase of $25 or more of select Transformers product. As noted in this thread over at Allspark.com, and later confirmed by this listing here, Jolt was one of a pool of eight figures (all from the same wave) from which the free Deluxes were drawn, with several people having noted receiving him.
Fast Action Battlers
*Electro Whip Jolt (Fast Action Battler, 2009)

:Electro Whip Jolt transforms into a slightly squashed Chevrolet Volt with an unfortunate transformation parts separation line going right across his windshield. Jolt's robot mode transformation is reminiscent of Transformers car toys from previous generations, where the sides of the car are his arms and the rear his feet. Jolt's arms each contain a spring loaded "electro whip" that shoots out of them when a blue tab is depressed. Moving either of his arms up, then releasing it will cause it to swing back down, simulating a whipping motion.

*Spark Blast Jolt (Fast Action Battler, 2010)

: Spark Blast Jolt is a redeco of Electro Whip Jolt in mostly white with blue electricity deco on his doors. This is supposed to represent Jolt when he is in battle for a long time and charges with electricity. The bio also says he is all about electricity. Weird.

:This toy did not see mass retail release in the United States, but is confirmed to have come out in Europe (or at least Germany).

:This Walmart exclusive multi-pack includes a redeco of Legends class Jolt in light gray and blue with bright green detailing, with some bright green flame decals on the sides and hood of the vehicle. He comes with a redeco of Deluxe class Brawl in yellow, brown and gray. Taken together, they may be the least appealingly-colored set of toys in years.
*Electrostatic Jolt (Deluxe, 2010)

: Electrostatic Jolt is a redeco of Revenge of the Fallen Deluxe-class Jolt with a blue roof and gold parts in robot mode. He also has an electricity pattern decoed on his doors similar to Spark Blast Jolt.
Dark of the Moon
Deluxe Class toys
*Jolt (MechTech Deluxe, 2011)
**Japanese ID number: DA14
**Accessories: MechTech Blaster/Hand Cannon
:A new mold, this version of Jolt transforms into a black and grayish-blue Chevy Volt, with Allspark blue-colored decals, as well as the black on the roof and hood being textured to resemble carbon-fiber panels. While the specific details of his robot mode are less accurate to the movie model than the previous toy, (for example, the wings are made from the sides of the car instead of from the front of the car, which is now on his feet) the less clumsy design better portrays the overall aesthetic of the character in the movie. With his chest and feet deformed and collapsed, more slender limbs, claw "hands" with three digits each, and his back kibble forming his distinctive "wings", this toy (except for the colours) shows off the electric theme that jolt represents and looks more accurate to the movie than, even though it isn't. Despite all of this, his head is still based off of his more common, shrimpy design instead of his CG design.

:Replacing his electro-whips, he comes with a MechTech blaster that turns into a hand cannon when the scope is pulled. This weapon can either be plugged on two "concealed" holes on his roof in vehicle mode, or on his wrists and underneath his forearms in robot mode. It can also be pegged on the hole on his back in robot mode. As with all other MechTech Deluxe weapons, the converted weapon cannot lock into place.

:Additionally, flipping out a tab in each of his arms reveals some small C joint-compatible bars.

:Interestingly, the stock photography on his packaging depicts his black parts as smooth and untextured, instead of the carbon-fiber texture on the final toy.
:Robot Heroes Jolt is part of the second Revenge of the Fallen wave. He has articulation at the shoulders and neck, and comes packaged versus Ravage.

:As a Mini-Vehicle, Jolt is a non-transformable, Hot Wheels-scale Chevrolet Volt. His robot mode is sculpted surging with electricity on the car's underside, alongside his name and an Autobot insignia.

Notes
*Jolt was a last-minute addition to the film during the four-month rush to get a script done after the Writers Guild strike. The writers had to convince Bay that Jolt would feel like a true member of the main Autobot roster. Ultimately, this wasn't what you could call a success: Jolt only appeared in robot mode in three scenes of the movie, and the character has no lines whatsoever. He even abruptly disappears from the Autobot vehicle mode group shot where he appears for the first time. Jolt does get a name shout-out, which is something, at least, but that doesn't change the fact that he was so disposable to the plot that he didn't appear in any of the tie-in comics, books or video games until seven months after the film had come out.

*Furthermore, none of Jolt's toy and comic book appearances were accurate to his CG model. Closer inspection of his head reveals the final design was far less shrimpy than the concept art Hasbro used.

*During production of Revenge of the Fallen, TakaraTomy were informed that Jolt had been dropped from the movie, so product development on him was halted. However, when they saw a photo of Jolt on the set of Revenge, they realised that contrary to what they had been told, he was still in the movie, and hurriedly went back to work on his toys!

*Concept art and an image of Jolt's Industrial Light & Magic CG model (seen from an awkward angle on a computer screen) were depicted on the Revenge of the Fallen 2-Disc DVD and Blu-Ray special features.

*Although Jolt never speaks in the movie, Variety had reported, and it was believed for awhile, that Anthony Anderson was to voice the late-joining Autobot.

*One of the Volt vehicles used as Jolt in the movie is on display at the Test Track attraction at Epcot.

*Some scenes of Jolt in vehicle mode in Jordan were shot, but never appeared. Come on!

*On August 2nd, 2010, Nelson Lauren, the webmaster of Michael Bay's official website, declared on the message boards of TFW2005 that there will be "no Jolt" for Dark of the Moon. Hence, in IDW's Dark of the Moon prequel, Jolt goes bye-bye.
