When the Decepticon forces were driven off [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Octane ended up on the barren planet of [[Chaar]]. When [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] told the Decepticons that he was going to bring back [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] to lead them, Octane was amongst the cheering crowd. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1}} He then joined the beating-Autobots-to-death crowd when the Decepticons discovered [[Hot Rod (G1)|Rodimus Prime]] and [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] spying on them. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2}} Finally, he joined the energon-munching crowd when the [[Quintesson|Quintessons]] offered them energy in exchange for exterminating a group of Autobots on [[Goo]]. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3}}

Octane first came to the Autobots' attention while doing what he did best—thinking about himself. When [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] had been defeated by [[Metroplex (G1)|Metroplex]] and hurled into the ocean, it was Octane who first discovered that the giant Decepticon had not been destroyed, but had actually survived his untimely dunk in the water. What happened next depends on who you believe: Octane tells a tale of great heroism, where he came across the weakened and dying Trypticon and, for the glory of the [[Decepticon Empire]] and out of the good of his own heart, nursed the injured giant back to health. The rest of the world prefer to take a less charitable look at his actions, and claim that Octane merely took advantage of Trypticon to secure himself a source of high-quality energon from the [[Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya]]. Whatever his motivation, it was not long before Octane and Trypticon were trading fuel for protection (even going so far as to assault passing cruise ships and then claiming they had been invading sovereign waters, though Trypticon did genuinely believe that they were invading ships). When that was no longer enough to keep their new landlords happy, Octane quickly came up with a scheme to use Trypticon in stealing all of the world's most important monuments and presenting them as gifts to the nation's leader. That got the attention of Rodimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots, who quickly crashed Octane's party. Worse, [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] caught wind of what had been happening, and was not amused with how selfishly Octane had been keeping Trypticon to himself. All the wheeling and dealing in the world failed in the face of Galvatron's rage, and Octane soon found himself ousted from the Decepticons (a fate he shared with his fellow Triple Changer, [[Blitzwing (G1)|Blitzwing]]. Alone and on the run, Octane soon discovered that Galvatron was less than willing to let bygones be bygones. The Decepticon leader had placed a price on Octane's head, and countless bounty hunters and assassins were closing in on him. After a close call on the planet [[Junkion (planet)|Junk]], where he narrowly avoided being blown to pieces, Octane quickly decided to seek asylum with the Autobots. It was here that he met and befriended [[Sandstorm (G1)|Sandstorm]], a fellow Triple Changer who had recently joined the Autobots after the destruction of his home planet of [[Paradron]]. After being attacked by the [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]] at [[Autobot City]], the pair fled to a space station, where they were assaulted once again by a paid assassin (who was fortunately so incompetent that the two robots barely noticed he was there). Eventually settling on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Octane still found no peace, as [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]] and the [[Sweep]]s tracked him down yet again. Fleeing into the forgotten [[Decepticon Crypt]], Octane stumbled onto the ghost of the most famous Decepticon traitor ever known: [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]]. Quickly realising kindred spirits in each other, the two joined forces in an attempt to let Starscream possess Cyclonus and take over the Decepticons. Needless to say, their coup attempt failed rather miserably, and both traitors found themselves once again fleeing from Galvatron's wrath. {{storylink|Starscream's Ghost}}

Octane was one of the many Decepticons left on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] after [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron's]] departure. ''Along with several others, Octane worked for the tyrant [[Straxus (G1)|Straxus]] in the giant fortress known as [[Darkmount]]. He was regarded as one of Cybertron's deadliest killers, with soldiers like [[Macabre]] wanting to be seen as his equal, and considered a key target in [[Operation: Volcano]]. {{storylink|Target: 2006}} When [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] was accidentally transported back to Cybertron and joined forces with the [[Wrecker|Wreckers]], Octane ran away from them screaming—this is the first sign his rep may be a tad inflated. Octane was sent to Earth by [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]] to investigate the loss of the [[Wash and Roll|Carwash of Doom]], but when they found the crashed ship they discovered the reason it was lost was because of [[Scraplet]]s. Infected, he failed to kill [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] {{storylink|Crater Critters}} and would end up saved by accident. {{storylink|The Cure!}}

Aside from providing valuable background appearances and occasional comic relief, Octane is also worth noting for one important thing: during a battle in the Arctic that had been set up by [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], Octane managed to kill the Autobot known as [[Mirage (G1)|Mirage]]. Of course, Mirage was up and running again shortly thereafter, so it wasn't even a GOOD killing ("deadliest killer" my ''arse'') (and he didn't kill [[Rippersnapper (G1)|Rippersnapper]] during the previous battle either, as ''HE'' still functioned). His worries proved well founded, as a few minutes later, he was seized by tentacles and dragged into a pool. He traveled to Earth in 2003 under Shockwave and [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]]' command to collect the "renegade" Autobots and Decepticons who were still fighting the Great War. {{storylink|New World Order}} They returned to Cybertron, and Octane assumed patrol duty until coming across the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobots]], who had just crash-landed after arriving from Earth. Sensing weakness, Octane mockingly challenged the woozy travelers, poking them and calling them "primitive".

Four million years ago, Tankor was involved in the Decepticon war effort. He was part of a convoy carrying 75 tons of energon for [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]. Unfortunately, they were intercepted by [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and their scout, [[Ramjet (G1)|Ramjet]], knocked senseless before he could fire off a shot. Prime and [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]] managed to capture Tankor's unit without incident by threatening to detonate the unstable energon supply they were carrying. {{storylink|The Iron Age}}

Millions of years later, during the Decepticon siege of (parts of) the world, the [[European Union]] sent a nuclear bomb to wipe out the Transformer infestation of [[New York City]]. Unfortunately the plane they sent to carry the bomb was Tankor in disguise. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 11}} Even after the Autobots arrived, Megatron ordered Tankor to proceed with the bomb drop and to rendezvous with the Decepticons later, to which he expressed his pleasure. The bomb was indeed dropped, but diverted by Thundercracker. {{storylink|All Hail Megatron issue 12}}

Unfortunately, Tankor never made it off Earth. After getting captured by humans at some point, he was liberated by a small group of Decepticons led by [[Swindle (G1)|Swindle]]. {{storylink|New Arrivals, Old Encounters}} Their ragtag team then located [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]] in the ruins of New York, and added him to the group. {{storylink|Seasons in Flight}} During an attack on [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]], Swindle starting questioning why they were fighting in the first place. Tankor replied "Because they're Autobots!", but it turned out Swindle was looking for a somewhat deeper answer. After successfully conducting an energon theft, Octane gave his pursuers, [[Sideswipe (G1)#Henkei! Henkei! pack-in comics|Sideswipe]] and [[Bluestreak#Henkei! Henkei! pack-in comics|Bluestreak]], the runaround by switching back and forth between his alternate modes, making them think they were chasing two culprits instead of one. Once he got bored with the chase, Octane revealed himself, but that proved to be a bad idea, as Sideswipe was able to rocket above him and shoot him down. {{storylink|Henkei! Henkei! volume 6|Henkei! Octane's skills were later to put to the test by [[Cyclonus (G1)#Henkei! Henkei! pack-in comics|Cyclonus]], who tasked him with stealing energon from a factory. Octane upped the stakes, promising to do the job in thirty minutes if Cyclonus would deliver a good report on him to [[Megatron (G1)#Henkei! Henkei! pack-in comics|Megatron]]. Despite the interference of [[Smokescreen (G1)#Henkei! Henkei! pack-in comic|Smokescreen]] and [[Red Alert (G1)#Henkei! Henkei! pack-in comic|Red Alert]], Cyclonus held Octane to the conditions of the deal, and Octane had to try and shake the two Autobots off as he headed for the factory. Octane thought he had succeeded, but found his two opponents waiting for him at the factory, along with Cyclonus, who announced his time was up. Octane had the misfortune of being possessed by the ghost of a [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream from another dimension]] and being forced to attack the Autobots. He beat up on [[Ironhide (G1)#Henkei! Henkei! pack-in comics|Ironhide]], before being taken down by the invisible [[Mirage (G1)#Henkei! Henkei! pack-in comics|Mirage]]. In an alternate future where Shockwave discovered the mysterious mineral known as [[Zel Quartz]] and went mad by its power, Octane was one of the few Decepticons who survived his destructive rampage. The triple changer was chosen to be a part of the Transformers who were to go back in time in order to find the Zel Quartz before Shockwave did.

After the Autobots had dealt with the Sharkticons, Octane drove up to them in tanker mode, transforming to robot mode when he was in front of them. Stating his need for power, Octane announced that he was going to destroy the Autobots and then take all the energy of the Karzite mine. He then rambled on about how he was going to be leader of the Decepticons once he took down Galvatron, and then told the Autobots that he was going to melt them down. Rodimus Prime warned the greedy Triple Changer that those with endless ambitions were bound to be destroyed by it, but his warnings fell of deaf audio receptors. In the end, Octane was soundly defeated and he announced his surrender. Transforming to jet plane mode, Octane flew off, announcing that he would not forget his defeat. Rodimus just called him a "thin-fueled coward". Later, Octane fought alongside Cyclonus against the Autobots in the Atalstan gem mine. Even with a fellow flier for backup, he still lost.

In the Decepticon side of the story, the shuttle that the Decepticons of the future had been using crash-landed. Octane had managed to find the main Depecticon force of the present once they had found a drill bit they suspected to be the Zel Quartz. Driving up to them in tanker mode while expressing surprise to the fact that they were still alive, Octane transformed to robot form, explaining that he thought he was done for. He expressed his relief that he managed to rendezvous with the Decepticons, stating that the bad side always did win. Galvatron told the triple changer that if Octane fought hard for him, it would be enough. Octane promised that he would and requested to join back with the Decepticons.

Despite whichever side won, Starscream eventually managed to steal the Zel Quartz and flew off into space with it. This caused the Quartz to become completely useless; and with the timeline altered, Octane and all the Decepticons from the future disappeared from the present time.{{storylink|The Transformers (PS2)|The Transformers}}

:Octane is a [[Triple Changer]], with the ability to transform into two different vehicle modes. His ground vehicle mode is an extended truck cab with fuel-tanker trailer of undetermined model, with much of the detailing in this mode achieved through stickers rather than sculpting. His truck mode has rather strange proportions due to the robot arms sticking out of the sides and the generally broken-up look of the truck. He has three sets of rolling wheels: two purple sets and a set of grey wheels hidden under the middle of the truck. There is also a set of sculpted, non-rolling, unpainted wheels at the back of the truck

:His aerial mode is based on the two-engined Boeing 767 jet plane. Though the better of the two vehicle modes, it has some odd concessions that were made due to Octane being a Triple Changer, such as the grey set of wheels from the middle of the truck now sticking up from the top of Octane's fuselage.

For truck mode, the instructions and stock photography (seen at right) place the blasters in the exposed robot-mode fist holes at the rear of the vehicle, facing forward, but it seems the intended location for them is the two otherwise-pointless holes on either side of the cab, facing upwards, to serve as smokestacks for the truck. The mold was designed for light-piped eyes (and presumably clear truck windows), but the relevant areas have been cast in opaque blue and the eyes are painted red.

On the lowest level of [[Gigantion]], [[Starscream (Armada)|Starscream]] hauls his battered body out of the lake into which [[Landmine (Energon)|Landmine]] hurled him. His power levels low, Starscream focuses on the images of [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]], [[Megatron (Armada)|Galvatron]] and [[Primus]] within his mind, and his determination galvanizes him.

Within the ''[[Lemuria (Cybertron)|Lemuria]]'' starship, the assembled [[Autobot]]s prepare to add the fourth and final [[Cyber Planet Key]] to the [[Omega Lock]]. The heroes are on their toes, as they are by now well aware that adding a Key to the Lock is bound to have an unusual effect...and indeed, this time is no different, as the Omega Lock shoots out a beam of energy that powers up the starship they are standing in. Its systems reboot, deactivating the security systems on Gigantion that prevent warping and causing the planet's multiple layers to split open, revealing a clear passage to the world's surface. A [[space bridge]] opens in the sky over the planet, allowing a communication from [[Colonel Franklin]] to reach the team. Alas, he does not have good news: the [[Unicron Singularity|black hole]]'s influence is spreading throughout the galaxy despite Primus's efforts, with the [[Jungle Planet (Cybertron)|Jungle Planet]] in particular danger. [[Scourge (Cybertron)|Scourge]] chooses this moment to appear before the Autobots, wishing to offer his thanks to Optimus Prime for all that he has taught him. Having seen the images of Jungle Planet, Scourge realizes he can neglect his homeworld no longer, and with [[Snarl (Cybertron)|Snarl]] by his side once again, the two old friends return there to do what they can.

The Autobots are preparing to follow their beastly comrades to the surface when [[Megatron (Armada)|Galvatron]] makes a sudden appearance. Bringing all his deadly powers to bear, he swiftly blasts his way through the Autobots and purloins the Omega Lock. However, as he makes a break for the opening in the sky, Starscream appears in his path, and demands that he hand over the Lock and Keys. The two Decepticons lecture each other on the nature of power, and a ferocious battle breaks out between the two, which the Autobots are prevented from interfering in by the appearance by [[Sideways (RID)|Sideways]] and [[Soundwave (Cybertron)|Soundwave]]. The other Decepticons soon arrive to watch (and about what to do and who to cheer for), while the Gigantions down below shield the humans from falling debris.

The battle between Megatron and Starscream takes another strange turn when Starscream reveals that his absorption of the power of Primus has given him the ability to increase the mass of his body at will. Eventually, the fight carries the two combatants to the surface of the planet, where they each unleash the fullest extent of their power. Pulsating with inconceivable amounts of [[energon (Energon)|energon]], the two Decepticons face off, the interaction of their energon auras threatening an explosion powerful enough to destroy a planet. The Autobots cut their losses and scramble for cover, while Sideways and Soundwave resolve to snatch the Omega Lock from the two battling 'bots before it too is destroyed by the impending blast. Unfortunately, they move too slowly: Megatron and Starscream unleash their final attacks, and the collision of forces yields an explosion visible from space, ripping a giant hole in the planet, and consuming them and the two [[Planet X (Cybertron)|Planet X]] agents.

Millions of years ago, Omega Supreme was a member of the legendary [[Guardian robot]]s, and was charged with defending [[Crystal City]], the most spectacular city on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. He befriended the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]], the city's creators. However, as it would happen, the Constructicons were attacked by [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron's]] [[Robo-Smasher]] and converted into [[Decepticon|Decepticons]]. The now-evil Constructicons convinced Omega to leave his post to help defend another city, and promised to look after the city in his stead. When he left, they demolished the Crystal City, to Omega Supreme's horror. He tracked them down and tried to change the builders back into Autobots, but the process was irreversible, and the treacherous Constructicons lured Omega into an ambush by the Smasher. The Robo-Smasher attacked Omega, but it was destroyed before it could convert him.

In late 1985, the Autobots used Omega Supreme to follow the Decepticons back to Cybertron when they intended to use [[Vector Sigma]] to create a new group of Decepticon warriors. After failing to stop the Decepticons from creating the [[Stunticon (G1)|Stunticons]], the Autobots created a new team of their own to counter the new threat, the [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbots]]. [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]], [[Wheeljack (G1)|Wheeljack]] and [[Sparkplug Witwicky]] connected Omega Supreme's mind to the ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'s'' life support unit while they set about putting the giant back together. The arrogant Aerialbots, unimpressed with both the Autobots and the humans they protected, refused to help their comrades in defeating the Decepticons until their group leader [[Silverbolt (G1)|Silverbolt]] showed them how Sparkplug was able to disregard his fatigue and continue repairing Omega Supreme simply because of his concern for a friend's well being. He transported the Autobots and the Aerialbots back to Cybertron when they detected strange energy readings emanating from the planet. The trip expended his energy so he was forced to sit out the mission. While the Autobots dealt with a [[Kronosphere|time machine]] sending the Aerialbots to the past, the Decepticons reacted one of Omega's fellow Guardian Robots. After the coming of [[Unicron]], his space transport role was fulfilled by [[Sky Lynx (G1)|Sky Lynx]], though he still carried out occasional missions. Almost immediately after [[Grapple]] was brought online on Earth, [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Marvel Comics continuity|Optimus Prime]] had a secret project in mind for the architect. {{storylink|Rock and Roll-Out!}} Constructed by Grapple and given life by Prime's [[Creation Matrix]], Omega Supreme was unveiled in front of the Autobots as the Ark's last line of defense. With Omega completed, the Autobots were now free to leave the base en masse to attack the Decepticons, an advantage Optimus Prime took advantage of immediately. As the Autobots attacked the Decepticon headquarters, Megatron, unaware of Omega Supreme's birth, took [[Skywarp (G1)|Skywarp]], [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], [[Thundercracker (G1)|Thundercracker]], [[Frenzy (G1)|Frenzy]], [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]], [[Buzzsaw (G1)|Buzzsaw]], and [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]] with him to attack the Ark, which he believed to be unguarded. At first Megatron underestimated the tank and rocket ship sitting outside their target, but Omega Supreme transformed and within moments destroyed all of them one by one without pause. Though Omega Supreme continued to guard the Ark, he didn't seem to stay [[Scale|quite as huge]] as he used to be. He could soon fit into the Ark, where watched with other Autobots as Ratchet tried to repair Optimus Prime, who had fallen in battle. At Prime's funeral, Omega placed his body in his final resting place, a spaceship casket which they shot into space. {{storylink|Funeral for a Friend!}} Omega entered the Ark again when he and other high-ranking Autobots assembled to nominate Prime's replacement, and he suggested courage as a valuable trait for their imaginary candidate. When [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]] attacked, the Decepticon carpeted the entrance to the Ark with sonic scrambler mines, disabling Omega and the other Autobots within; Omega was thus unable to square off against the giant. Omega traveled with the rest of the Autobots to the [[Arctic]] to investigate a distress signal sent by [[Buster Witwicky (G1)|Buster Witwicky]]. Soon, they were ambushed by two Decepticon armies, and Buzzsaw cannon-blasted Omega Supreme—and [[:Image:Buzzsawyikes4.jpg|Omega actually seemed to be getting knocked over]]. This was all revealed as a plot by Starscream to divert both factions away from his attempts to absorb the powers of the [[Underbase]]. Omega traveled to [[Buenos Aires]] as part of a team led jointly by [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]] and [[Soundwave (G1)|Soundwave]]. Some time after the departure of the Ark, Omega Supreme and [[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]] were part of one of the last Autobot space programs, tasked with containing the expansion of the Decepticons to other worlds and, more importantly, to find [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and the crew of the Ark. After falling out with the other members of the operation, Jetfire and Omega detected what they thought was the energy signature of the Ark, only to be attacked by [[Scourge (G1)|a mysterious, powerful assailant]]. They ultimately ended up buried under Antarctica on Earth. {{Storylink|Original Sin}} Millions of years later, Jetfire remotely reactivated Omega Supreme in an attempt to defeat the powerful and insane [[Sunstorm (G1)|Sunstorm]]. Though Omega Supreme managed to capture the weakened Sunstorm thanks to Ratchet's energy siphon, Starscream destroyed the device to enable his own escape, reactivating Sunstorm and truly commencing the battle between the two powerhouses. Omega Supreme was largely a non-participant in the war between the Autobots and Decepticons. Predating the notion of factions and having survived two [[Prime (rank)|Primes]], he remained in seclusion in a specially-shielded artificial asteroid within the [[Muta-Gaath Nebula]]. Though nominally allied with the Autobots, he remained outside of the conflict for fear of escalating it due to the firepower he commanded. Instead, he existed as a resource to Primes in times of doubt. However, he did participate in the Autobot/Decepticon battle to stop [[Thunderwing (G1)|Thunderwing]], alongside [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]], and [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]]. {{storylink|Stormbringer issue 1}}

Omega Supreme is one of the few living Transformers to remember the first ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]''. Believing that the Transformer race should exercise a slow inner growth through intellectual contemplation, he frequently clashed with the expansionist [[Nova Prime]], who felt Cybertron's destiny lay in the conquest of other worlds. After the ''Ark''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s departure and Nova Prime's disappearance, Omega Supreme discovered a horrific creation of theirs: [[Monstructor (G1)|Monstructor]]. He sealed the gestalt in a dimensionally-displaced prison to prevent it from devastating Cybertron and escalating the burgeoning conflict. Centuries later, Optimus Prime came to him for advice. While the two were talking, Monstructor — somehow freed from captivity — attacked. Omega Supreme told Optimus Prime the truth about himself, Nova Prime, and Monstructor. Alerted by a presumed futile distress call sent by [[Hot Rod (G1)|Hot Rod]], Omega arrived on Cybertron to assist the group of Autobot survivors, who were stranded there and about to be devoured by the Swarm. Omega's arrival on the battlefield almost instantly turned the tide, and he apologised for taking so long. When questioned about his survival (Prowl stated the Decepticons would've sent an entire ''army'' to take down Omega), Omega gave a simple explanation: "I am Omega Supreme." Later, when he arrived on Earth, he engaged [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]]. Two years after the New York battle, Omega Supreme was in hiding in a remote canyon when Hot Rod approached him, wanting to use his rocket mode to get off the planet. Omega refused, steadfast in staying on Earth as long as Optimus Prime remained there. Besides, even if he was willing to help help, he didn't have enough fuel to reach orbit anyway. The conversation was then interrupted when a squad of Decepticons attacked. {{storylink|New Arrivals, Old Encounters}} Soon afterwards, Omega Supreme found himself crammed into an entirely too small cave, as [[Bumblebee (G1)|Bumblebee]], the new Autobot leader, worried that [[Skywatch]] could easily find him out in the open. Omega Supreme's "transformation" involves very little manipulation of his moving parts, in fact, the only part that transforms is his main body/tank. Instead, it is achieved by disassembling him into his component pieces, which are then put back together in a different configuration. The tank forms his main body, the rocket forms his forearms, the track makes up most of his legs, while the gantry forms his feet and backpack, with extra track parts forming wings. The torso features a battery-operated motor which propels the tank around the track as its turret spins and flashes with orange light, or allows Omega to walk (very slowly) forward in robot mode. This motor is extremely susceptible to failure.
