Hailing from East [[Germany]], '''Buster''' was a deejay before he and his older brother, [[Hydra (Masterforce)|Hydra]] were recruited by the [[Decepticon|Decepticons]]. He is an enigmatic sort who does not really have much of a personality of his own, instead serving as a (vaguely creepy) extension of his brother's whim, following his lead in combat and turning to him for direction in all things. While Buster is not nearly as cruel and detached as the sociopathic Hydra, he remains a fearsome fighter of great power.

As a [[Godmaster]], Buster is bonded to a [[Transtector]] from the [[G Nebula 89|G Nebula]], which he can combine with his brother’s Transtector to form the giant jet [[Darkwings]]. Like all Godmasters, Buster can manipulate [[Chōkon Power]], with his specialty being the control of wind. Additionally, Buster possesses an affinity for birds, owning some and even being able to convey his thoughts to them.

Buster and Hydra were in North America when they were approached by [[Giga]] and [[Mega]], agents of the Decepticon leader [[Devil Z]], and bonded to a pair of Transtectors that had taken the forms of jet planes. {{storylink|A Hero Is Chosen - His Name Is Ginrai}} The brothers were brought to a hidden island, where they were trained in the use of their new Godmaster powers until it was decided that they join up with the rest of the Decepticons already operating under the command of [[Blood]]. Blood's [[Pretender]]s and [[Headmaster Junior]]s were summoned to the island, where Buster and Hydra, disguised in suits of medieval armor, promptly attacked and bested them as a demonstration of their powers. Blood bristled at the notion that two humans could be stronger than true Decepticons, and challenged the two Godmasters to prove themselves by attacking the [[Mt Fuji Foothills Hang Gliding Competition Tournament]]. It just so happened that the [[Autobot]] Headmaster Juniors were participating in the contest, leading to a battle between the Godmaster brothers and the Autobot Pretenders. Although they had their Autobot foes massively overpowered, the arrival of [[Metalhawk]] left them outnumbered, and the brothers opted to withdraw. {{storylink|Super Warriors - The Godmaster Brothers}} Buster and Hydra next went into battle when the Decepticons attacked the tidal power plant on [[Karin Islands|Viscas Island]], but the battle was brought to an end when the Autobot [[Diver (Masterforce)|Diver]] was able to lodge his Sea Axe in Buster’s arm. Unable to heal the wound, Buster panicked and Hydra called retreat. When Mega and Giga revealed that there were other Godmaster on Earth, Buster and Hydra were charged with locating them before the Autobots did. Hydra decided that they would search North America first, on the basis that it was where they became Godmasters themselves, and with a little help from the Headmaster Juniors, the brothers were soon on the trail of a mysterious truck that had been rumoured to be able to heal any damage to itself. The brothers found the truck crashed at the bottom of a cliff along with the Autobot Diver, but when they attempted to take it, the truck's driver, [[Ginrai]], revealed that he was indeed a Godmaster, and that that truck was his Transtector, by transforming to robot mode for the first time. Shocked by what they had witnessed, Buster and Hydra retreated. {{storylink|A Hero Is Chosen - His Name Is Ginrai}} Before long, however, the brothers were back on Ginrai's trail, and attacked numerous tractor trailers in their search for him, killing many of Ginrai's trucker friends before finally locating him. When [[Cancer]] was captured by the Autobots for interrogation, Buster and Hydra arrived to retrieve him. The Autobots released their prisoner, but Hydra immediately discovered a homing beacon planted on Cancer's shirt, and attacked the Autobots in retribution. During the fight, Buster seized the Autobot [[Minerva]] and placed his blaster to her head, only to have Cancer snatch her away, begging that nobody be killed. This distraction turned the tide of the battle and forced the villains to fall back. {{storylink|A Strange Friendship: Cancer and Minerva}} Things didn't go much better during the brothers' next battle with Ginrai, at Mount Yatsugatake in Nagano, where the brothers were blasted by Ginrai's newly-obtained trailer. {{storylink|Friend or Foe!? Hungry for revenge, Buster and Hydra were not content simply with destroying Ginrai, but also sought to discredit him and the Autobots into the bargain. Luring Ginrai into a battle in a city, the brothers loudly blamed him for starting the battle so that the population could overhear, and then summoned some [[Lobclaw]] [[Seacon (Masterforce)|Seacons]] to finish the Autobot off. Luckily, Diver and [[Lander]] arrived to deal with the Seacons, and the enraged Ginrai unleashed a blast of Chōkon Power that saw the villains off. {{storylink|Eliminate the Godmaster Ginrai}}

Learning that Ginrai had appeared on a television show in an attempt to find the remaining Godmasters on Earth, Buster and Hydra tried menacing a producer at the TV station in order to find out what Ginrai had learned from the correspondence that had come in. The tactic had no luck, so they resorted to searching the continent with the help of the Pretenders; the Pretenders later found Ginrai in [[Canada]], but were unable to stop the next Godmaster, [[Lightfoot]] from joining the Autobots. {{storylink|Lightfoot: A Dramatic Encounter}} After this failure, the Decepticons were even more determined to recruit the next Godmaster, a Canadian forest patrolman named [[Ranger]]. During the battle with the Autobots that resulted in the Rocky Mountains, however, Buster and Hydra were left badly outnumbered and had to flee when the Headmaster Juniors abandoned them out of spite after they carelessly put [[Wilder]] in danger in their zeal to destroy Ginrai. {{storylink|An Enemy? Buster and Hydra stepped back from the front lines for a short time, instead trying their hand at formulating a plan for the Pretenders to carry out. This outlandish plot to capture doctors was soon botched, much to their distaste, {{storylink|Save the Little Girl! The Chōjin Warriors, the Godmasters}} and they again took an active hand in matters, starting with a scheme to divide and conquer the Autobot Godmasters, starting with Lightfoot. Hydra put his makeup talents to use disguising himself and Buster as reporters so that they could get close to Lightfoot's father [[Leftfoot]] and take him prisoner. The brothers sent a message to Lightfoot, who was faced with the choice of either joining the Autobots or having his [[Master-Brace|Master-Braces]] (and hands!) cut off, but luckily, the other Autobot Godmasters soon arrived to help give the Darkwings Brothers one of their most severe beatings yet. When Buster's arm was actually torn off, the horrified Hydra called retreat, but they weren't above spitefully blowing up some factory buildings as they left. {{storylink|Life? Death? After serving as chauffeurs for Mega when she was posing as a fortune teller, {{storylink|Expose the Decepticons' Dark Deception!}} Buster and Hydra were next charged with destroying Ginrai's trailer. By posing as a movie producer, Hydra was able to lure Ginrai into a desert under auspices of performing some stunt-driving, while Buster planted the explosive charges that would be used in the stunt. A hidden, extra charge separated Ginrai from his trailer, and the brothers combined into Darkwings in an attempt to destroy the latter component. Before they could strike, Ginrai merged with his trailer and blew the villains out of the air with his Special Fire Guts attack. Ginrai was, however, subsequently badly wounded by Giga and Mega's combined form, [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]], {{storylink|Super Ginrai Gets Blown Away in the Desert!?}} and the brothers decided to strike while the Autobots were a man down by attempting to destroy the [[Godbomber]] drone the heroes were in the midst of constructing. In the next attempt to destroy Godbomber, Buster and Hydra attacked a Middle-East oil refinery in order to draw the Autobots out, only to be met with failure once more. {{storylink|Overlord - Terror of the Chōkon Tornado}} The Decepticons tried yet again, this time by separating Godbomber from Ginrai and having Buster and Hydra target the unprotected drone. With a little help from [[Sixknight]], however, the Autobot Headmaster Juniors discovered that they were able to pilot Godbomber and personally took out Buster. {{storylink|Destroy Godbomber!!}}

When the final Godmaster, [[Clouder]], joined the Decepticons, the villains installed him within the Autobot ranks as a spy, who fed them inside information on the Autobots' base. Buster and Hydra proceeded to attack a nearby city in order to occupy the attentions of Ginrai and the Godmasters while the rest of the Decepticons initiated an all-out attack on the Autobots' headquarters {{storylink|Secret Orders! Soon thereafter, when BlackZarak arrived on Earth, Buster and Hydra traveled into space with the rest of the Decepticons when the villain prepared to unleash the unholy [[Death Para-Machine|Death-Para Machine]] upon the [[Earth]]. {{storylink|Crisis! The Day of the Downfall of Humanity}} Later, they battled Lightfoot in northern Europe, {{storylink|God Ginrai - Save Cancer!?}} and when the Autobots attacked the Decepticon base in force, clashed with Ginrai and the Godmasters, until Devil Z brought the battle to an end by fusing with BlackZarak and collapsing the base into an undersea chasm. {{storylink|The Ultimate Combination!! Frustrated by their numerous defeats at the hands of Ginrai, Buster demanded to know why they were unable to best their Autobot opponent. Hydra opined that he and Buster were weakened by their humanity, and the brothers petitioned Devil Z to use his powers to transform them into true robots. The evil being complied, fusing the brothers with their Transtectors and replacing their Jinchōkon Power—lost to them along with their humanity—with his own [[Devil Power]]. The Darkwings Brothers attacked Ginrai in the Grand Canyon, and Ginrai, appalled at what they had done to themselves, called upon his God Fire Guts attack. The brothers responded by diving at Ginrai in a flaming "Hellfire Attack", resulting in a huge explosion when the attacks collided. The battered brothers limped away from the battle, declaring it a draw. {{storylink|Battle to the Death!! God Ginrai VS Darkwings Reborn}} While Ginrai then went on to battle Overlord, Buster and Hydra attacked Lightfoot and Road King, trapping them in a cave. During the final conflict on the Matterhorn, Buster and Hydra unveiled the mightiest weapon in their arsenal, the "Mach X Flight", allowing them to move faster than the eye could follow. They did not predict, however, that Ginrai could replicate the effect with his own Chōkon Power, and the Autobot once again proved to be their better, searing their bodies with his burning backwash and sending them crashing into the mountain. The brothers rejoined the other Decepticons at the mountain's peak, where BlackZarak unleashed his fury on the two failures, pummelling them until Overlord stepped in to try and stop the punishment. This only resulted in BlackZarak turning on him as well, at which point Ginrai arrived to save his foes and engage BlackZarak in final battle. {{storylink|Malevolent and Inhuman! The True Form of Devil Z}} As the Autobot leader battled BlackZarak, Buster and Hydra recovered from their beating, with Hydra calmly writing it off as proof that they were weak, and that they needed to fight even harder. At that point, the Autobot Godmasters arrived and Buster and Hydra plunged into battle right away, despite the fact that they were on the verge of collapse. Eventually, they could fight no further, and combined into Darkwings to flee. In the moments that followed, Ginrai succeeded in destroying BlackZarak and Devil Z, which resulted in all the other humans becoming separated from their Transtectors. Decepticon leaders Giga and Mega unveiled their Godmaster warriors, Buster and Hydra, to the world by sending them to "welcome" the Autobot Godmaster, Ginrai, to Japan. After bombing Tokyo on their way to Harumi Wharf, Buster and Hydra merged into Darkwings and immediately attacked Metalhawk and the Autobot Headmaster Juniors, who were at the wharf awaiting Ginrai's arrival. After taking the Juniors out of the fight, the brothers then transformed into robot mode to tackle Metalhawk, but thankfully, Ginrai chose that moment to make his entrance and promptly launched the villains over the horizon with a blast of Chōkon Power. {{storylink|Enter on the Stage! When the Autobots traveled to the planet [[Athenia]] so that Ginrai could be appointed [[Supreme Commander]], Buster and Hydra followed, joining up with the other Decepticons out in space and attacking the planet with [[Scramble 7]]. The Autobots were able to defeat Scramble 7, but Buster and Hydra informed them that they had been united under the leadership of Devil Z, and were heading back to Earth to await the Autobots' return. {{storylink|The Battle Begins! Aboard the ''[[Thunder Arrow]]'', [[Deathsaurus (Victory)|Deathsaurus]] hands down his newest set of orders to the [[Breastforce]], instructing them to steal electrical energy from a major American subway system. [[Leozack]] advocates concern over potential [[Autobot]] interference, but Deathsaurus coolly silences him, telling him that it is not his place to worry about it. As the Breastforce depart, Leozack sulks about the fact that their plan leaves them scurrying around underground, and blows up at his teammates when they suggest that he might wants to keep his voice down in case Deathsaurus hears. A little later, the Breastforce arrive in American and [[Drillhorn]] burrows a path for them into the city's subway system. [[Jarugar]] manages to avoid a collision with a train, and a large trail of rubble left by Drillhorn derails another.

At the [[Shuttle Base]], [[Star Saber (Victory)|Star Saber]] and the [[Brainmaster|Brainmasters]] process reports from the [[Multiforce]], who are patrolling the globe for Decepticon activity. The lack of a report from America prompts them to move the Shuttle Base, after which [[Jean Minakaze|Jean]] and the [[Rescue Patrol Team|Rescue Team]] go outside to practise their speedy rescue tactics. The drill is soon interrupted by the sound of a klaxon, signalling to Jean and the Rescues that the Brainmasters have discovered the Decepticons' activities in America. Despite realizing the limitations that they will be subjected to by attempting to fight within a subway (and realizing that the Decepticons likely planned it that way), Star Saber orders the Autobots into action. The Brainmasters and Rescue Team board the [[Galaxy Shuttle]], and Jean sneaks aboard to join in the battle.

Back in the subway, Leozack is too busy being pissy to focus on his job, and decides to disobey orders and just do things the most direct way—which for him involves opening fire on the tunnel walls to expose the various electrical systems. It's not long before the rest of the Breastforce follow his lead, causing explosions that begin tearing through the streets above as Star Saber and the Autobots arrive. Analyzing the Decepticons' tactics, Star Saber deduces that their target is the subway's power center, and he prepares to head there himself while the Rescue Team help in the damaged areas and the Brainmasters take on the Breastforce. Jean almost manages to sneak aboard Holi without being seen, but even though Star Saber spots him, he convinces the Supreme Commander to allow him to help.

Star Saber heads into the power distribution center (in his small robot form of Saber, with the [[V-Star]] hovering along behind him), and after some searching, discovers that he is not alone. What he does not expect, however, is to find that the Decepticon in the center is Deathsaurus himself! With Star Saber unable to open fire for fear of damaging the equipment, Deathsaurus unleashes his [[Breast Animal|Breast Animals]], and the intelligence of his scheme is revealed—in the cramped quarters of the subway, the Autobots are no match for the small, nimble Breast Animals! [[Laster]] and [[Blacker]] have also discovered this fact in their battles with Drillhorn and [[Killbison]]; Killbison even leaves his Bisonbreast to tackle Blacker, but Leozack shows up to criticize him for running. Leozack unleashes his own Breast Animal, and he, it and the Bisonbreast take on Blacker together.

Back with Star Saber and Deathsaurus, the Autobot leader has spotted the flaw in Deathsaurus's plan, and targets the Decepticon's now-unprotected chest plate. Deathsaurus's Breast Animals continue to interfere, so Star Saber calls on his own little friend, instructing the V-Star to crash into Deathsaurus. The villain raises his shield to block the oncoming craft, but this results in him leaving his chest open, and Star Saber hurls his sword, impaling Deathsaurus on its blade. Thusly wounded, Deathsaurus recalls his Breast Animals and flees with what energy he has managed to gather. The news of his retreat quickly reaches Jarugar, and he informs Killbison and Leozack of the situation. Leozack has no desire to back down from the fight, but when Killbison and Jarugar flee, he is left on his own and with no choice but to pull out.

With the Decepticons driven off, Star Saber and the Brainmasters emerge from the tunnels, and meet up with Jean and the Rescue Team, who have been busy helping civilians escape from a collapsed subway station. Star Saber credits his team with performing well under disadvantageous circumstances, and the Autobots set about rebuilding the damaged city.

Though he contained no traces of the Predacon [[shell program]] like Blackarachnia, his rowdy nature and love of violence made the actual facts irrelevant. Quickstrike generally filled an infantry/trooper role and followed the orders he was given. However, there are two notable instances when he was manipulated into betraying Megatron.

Tarantulas easily pushed Quickstrike's buttons, and the two, along with Blackarachnia, formed an "arachnid alliance" of their own. Their plans never came to fruition, because they were interrupted by the [[Maximal]]s, and Megatron never found out. {{storylink|Tangled Web}} After a device of Tarantulas' took over [[Optimus Primal]]'s body, Quickstrike was put in charge of the golem that controlled it. Once the Maximals were defeated, and the ''[[Ark (G1)|Ark]]'' open, Quickstrike (under orders from Tarantulas) used his control over Optimus to toss Megatron into the lava surrounding the ''Ark''. The plan backfired when Megatron rose from the lava more powerful than ever {{storylink|Master Blaster}}, and Quickstrike was put on "trial" for betraying Megatron. Like any good Decepticons, their thoughts turned to conquering the planet's population, and they used their Pretender powers to adopt the forms of monstrous creatures, with which they terrorized early man. The Decepticons' battles with the Autobots through the ages inspired many Earthly legends; in particular, when Blood menaced Europe in the Middle Ages, he brought about the myth of the vampire. Ultimately, Blood and the other Decepticons were defeated by the Autobots and imprisoned, with Blood being sealed in a sarcophagus deep inside an [[Egypt]]ian [[pyramid]]. In the present day, however, the evil alien entity [[Devil Z]] has liberated Blood and his fellow Pretenders to play a role in his evil plans for humans and Transformers alike.

Blood is easily the cruellest of the Decepticon Pretenders, and it is this organized, focused wickedness that makes him their leader. This doesn't sit well with [[Dauros]], who constantly tries to undermine Blood's authority, although Blood always comes out on top in their arguments. Blood is a fairly angry guy, prone to fits of rage and always willing to hold a grudge, but he's got the skills to back up his bluster, including a hypnotic ability that allows him to entrance human beings with ease. He's a highly-skilled fighter under cover of darkness, but he doesn't do so well in the light, and prefers not to be outside in the daylight for too long, if he can avoid it.

Having been freed from imprisonment by Devil Z, Blood and [[Gilmer]] set about attempting to draw out the Autobot Pretenders by attacking a cruise ship off the coast of [[Canada]]. When this tactic failed to gain any response, Dauros attacked a Japanese city instead; Blood soon arrived to berate him for "playing leader", but Gilmer stopped the pair from fighting before they could start. As it happened, Dauros's approach actually proved successful, as Metalhawk soon arrived and all three Decepticons ganged up on him. Unfortunately for the villains, Metalhawk's fellow Autobot Pretenders also soon arrived, and Blood engaged [[Phoenix]] in a dogfight over the city while the others fought below. When Metalhawk destroyed the [[Seacon (Masterforce)|Seacons]] that the Decepticons had brought with them, the evil trio elected to retreat. {{storylink|Rise Up!! Pretenders}}

Seeking to find a way to infuse human beings with Decepticon power, Blood had Dauros and Gilmer steal corpses from a university medical lab, and channelled energy from Devil Z to transform them into [[zombie]]-like "[[Destroid]]s". These creatures soon proved unstable and short-lived, so Blood decided to use live subjects instead, sending Dauros and Gilmer to round up some test subjects in the [[Karin Islands]]. While they were battling the Autobots there, Blood attacked the observatory of the Autobots' human ally, [[Professor Gō]], defeating [[Lander]], demolishing the building and killing the professor. {{storylink|Terror! Seeking a way to improve the Destroid conversion process, Blood began attacking passenger planes from the Republic of [[Mont Porte]], hoping to capture the country's famous biologist, [[Professor Blanieux]]. The first jet he attacked did not contain the professor, but he captured the jets' passengers for conversion into Destroids anyway; the second jet, unfortunately for Blood, escaped his clutches and crash-landed in Corsica, drawing the attention of the Autobots. While Metalhawk and company were investigating in Corsica, Blood and the other Decepticons unleashed their newest Destroids in Rome, but fled into the catacombs under the city when the Autobots arrived and subdued the creatures. Blood still refused to give up on the plan, and soon returned to attack the chartered plane containing Blanieux, only to be met with resistance from Metalhawk and Phoenix, who were posing as government investigators to protect the professor. When the two Autobots destroyed the [[Kraken]] Seacons he brought as back-up, Blood fled. {{storylink|Kidnapping!? The Targeted Jumbo Jet}}

After the failure of the Destroid scheme, the Decepticons decided that it was time to unleash their [[Headmaster Junior]]s{{m-}}human beings bonded to [[Transtector]]s that they had stolen from an Autobot cargo ship some time previously. Blood ordered the three Juniors, [[Wilder]], [[Cancer]] and [[Bullhorn]] to run wild in Tokyo, while he observed from a rooftop. When the Autobots arrived, Blood was once again engaged by Metalhawk and Phoenix, and opted to make himself scarce, rather than prolong the fight. {{storylink|Birth! In his next plan to destabilize the natural balance of Earth, Blood had the Decepticons cause wild animal stampedes across Africa, despite grumbles from Dauros and stinging barbs from the Headmaster Juniors. Channelling more of Devil Z's energy, Blood incited a herd of elephants to stampede, directing the Decepticons to ride on top of the animals to prevent the Autobots from attacking them. The Autobots instead had to settle for stopping the panicking pachyderms with a scrum formation, and with his plan foiled, Blood led the Decepticons in retreating once again. {{storylink|Panic! At the command of Devil Z, Blood brought the Pretenders and Headmasters Juniors to a remote island to meet with the other Decepticons under the alien's command. Upon arrival, they were attacked by two armored figures who pummelled them rather badly, but before Blood could open fire on the pair, two more mysterious individuals appeared on the scene to explain: the armored pair were [[Hydra (Masterforce)|Hydra]] and [[Buster (Masterforce)|Buster]], who served under the second duo, [[Mega]] and [[Giga]]. All four were a powerful new breed of warrior named [[Godmaster]]s, and Blood took an immediate dislike to Buster and Hydra after being told they were more powerful than he was. Challenging them to prove their strength, Blood joined with Buster and Hydra in attacking the [[Mt Fuji Foothills Hang Gliding Competition Tournament]], in which, as bad luck would have it, the Autobot Headmaster Juniors happened to be participating. Blood actually seemed surprisingly okay with relinquishing his command position and falling into service under Giga and Mega, but he still really hated being ranked below Hydra and Buster. As such, when Mega commented that in the grand scheme of things, even the ''Headmaster Juniors'' were more important than the Pretenders, he immediately rounded up the other Pretenders and led them in joining in the Decepticons' attack on [[Karin Islands#Viscas Island|Viscas Island]]. The ensuing battle was not the Pretenders' finest hour, and they were defeated by Metalhawk and the Autobot Headmaster Juniors. {{storylink|A Fierce Battle!! The Autobots Are in Trouble}}

Blood and the Pretenders took a back seat in the battles that ensued, during which time the Autobots recruited their own Godmaster, [[Ginrai]]. After a failed attempt to destroy Ginrai that involved kidnapping children {{storylink|Heroism!! The Birth of Super Ginrai}}, Blood and the Pretenders were recruited by Hydra and Buster to help them track Ginrai down as he searched for more Godmasters around the world. While scouring North America, Blood found Ginrai getting directions as a gas station, but kept this discovery a secret from Hydra and Buster, intending to finish Ginrai off himself and raise the Pretenders' standing in Giga and Mega's eyes. When the wandering [[Six Changer]] [[Sixknight]] arrived on Earth seeking to join the Decepticons, Blood and Gilmer exploited his anger at being turned down by Giga and Mega by suggesting that he destroy Ginrai in order to prove himself. The pair watched the ensuing battle from afar, but when Ginrai gained they upper hand, they decided to step in by seizing [[Minerva]], forcing Ginrai to stay his hand. While Blood and Gilmer were arguing over who go to hold her, however, Sixknight turned his weapons on them, disgusted at their dishonourable interference in the fight. Carrying out a complex plan formulated by Hydra and Buster, Blood and the Pretenders captured doctors from all over the world and held them captive on [[Atlan Island]] in the South Pacific. The Autobot Godmasters arrived to save the day, and Blood battled [[Road King]] during the fight, which concluded when the Godmasters unleashed their special powers and sent the Decepticon Pretenders back to their base in disgrace. {{storylink|Save the Little Girl! Later, when Mega was posing as a fortune teller and horrifying the world with predictions of disaster, Blood and the Pretenders later helped to make these "predictions" come true by trying to blow up [[Watson Dam]], although they lacked the firepower to accomplish the task, forcing a disgusted Giga to step up. {{storylink|Expose the Decepticons' Dark Deception!}} A little later, still desperately trying to get out of their leaders' bad books, Blood and Gilmer managed to discover that the Autobots were constructing a secret project in a [[British Motors]] factory and raced to tell Giga and Mega about it. Unfortunately, Hydra and Buster coerced the information out of them and stole all the credit. Blood, Gilmer and Dauros all participated in the subsequent attack on the factory, but the fight was definitely a low point for the evil Pretenders, who were beaten so badly by Lightfoot and [[Ranger]] that they lost several limbs between them. {{storylink|Will the Bomber Project Be Destroyed!?}}

After dropping off the radar for a lengthy period of time, Blood and the Decepticon Pretenders were later seen battling the Autobot Pretenders in Latin America {{storylink|God Ginrai - Save Cancer!?}} and were at the Decepticon headquarters when Ginrai was lured there to rescue his captive comrade [[Shūta Gō]], {{storylink|God Ginrai: Showdown at the Decepticon Base}} and when the Autobots initiated an all-out attack on the base. {{storylink|The Ultimate Combination!! BlackZarak, the New Lifeform}} During this battle, Devil Z and [[Scorponok (G1)|BlackZarak]] fused together and the Decepticon base was destroyed, following which Blood relocated with the rest of the villains to the [[Grand Canyon]] for an attack on North America. When Autobots pursued them, the Decepticon Pretenders battled Road King and Lightfoot, although Blood was nearly knocked out of the air by the grandstanding Hydra and Buster. After being freed by Devil Z, Blood, Gilmer and Dauros reintroduced themselves to the modern world by attacking the Karin Islands. The islands' prince, [[Cab]], made a vain attempt at battling the Decepticons, but the tide turned when the Autobot hero Metalhawk arrived and stripped away the shadows that cloaked the villains. Metalhawk evaded a "Bloody Moon" attack from Blood, and sent the Decepticons packing with his "Shining Arrow". {{storylink|Gods? Devils? The Pretenders}}

After unleashing a [[Lobclaw]] on Ginza, Tokyo {{storylink|Headmaster Jrs Are Born}} Blood battled Metalhawk in the dead of night, keeping him occupied while the Decepticons' newly-created Headmaster Juniors battled the Autobots' own Junior warriors. He's quite accepting of this state of affairs, though, and he gets along quite well with both of them in different ways: he and Blood often scheme together, and he regularly goes on missions alongside Dauros, who seems to respect him. However, a fair bit of his time is also spent getting between the two and stopping them from fighting amongst themselves, thanks to Dauros's resentment of Blood's leadership position. Gilmer transforms into a Cybertronic submarine that can hover over ground just as well as it cuts through water. He is a terrifying force in the water, able to create undersea volcanoes, control sea life and use his "Aqua Saw" sword to bend the flow of the oceans to his will.

Metalhawk, [[Phoenix]] and Shūta arrived to reinforce Diver, and with the help of the island's prince, [[Cab]], they tracked the Decepticons to the nearby Isle of the Gods and thwarted their plan to convert humans into [[Destroid]]s. {{storylink|Terror! The Decepticons' Manhunt}} This didn't stop the villains from trying again with passengers they captured from in-flight jumbo jets, but when one of their capture attempts went bad, causing the jet in question to crash in Corsica, Diver quickly reported this fact to Metalhawk. Together, Diver and Metalhawk posed as government agents to question the jet's passengers, including a young girl named [[Minerva]], but during their investigation, the Decepticons unleashed their newest Destroids on Rome. Diver was subsequently called away to investigate a sub-sea volcano, and during his absence, the Juniors had to put their training to the test in battle against the Decepticon Headmaster Juniors. {{storylink|Rage!! While awaiting the delivery of a sick dolphin from [[Baney Aquarium]], Diver received a phone call from the trucker making the delivery to explain that his truck had broken down. After procuring a replacement truck cab from a garage, the trucker, [[Ginrai]], completed the delivery, and while the dolphin was being unloaded, donned a pair of bracelets that he found in the cab's glove compartment. When Diver came over to thank Ginrai for his hard work, the Pretender was shocked to see the Autobot symbol glowing on the bracelets, and immediately demanded that Ginrai take him back to the garage. En route, the truck suddenly began to surge with strange energy and swerved out of Ginrai's control, barrelling over the edge of a cliff. Diver leapt clear in mid-air and transformed to robot mode, but before he could haul Ginrai from the wreckage, he was attacked by Hydra and Buster. At that point, within the cab, Ginrai's bracelets happened to touch, and in an explosion of light, the trucker was revealed to be the first Autobot Godmaster, with the truck as his [[Transtector]]. Shocked by what they had seen, Hydra and Buster fled, and Diver explained everything to the befuddled Ginrai. {{storylink|A Hero Is Chosen - His Name Is Ginrai}} Diver summoned Lander to the California so that he could educate Ginrai on the Decepticons, and although Ginrai was not willing to formally join the Autobots, he agreed to help them when he could "for the sake for the world." After the Decepticon kidnapped a group of children on an island off the coast of America, Diver elected to scout ahead as the other Autobots prepared to mount a rescue attempt. Unfortunately, Diver was spotted by Gilmer on his approach, and blindsided by [[Dauros]] as soon as he set foot on the island and reverted to human form. Harnessed with a device that prevented him from transforming to robot mode, Diver instead enlisted the aid of one of the captive kids, directing the boy to remove his watch and place it in the water nearby. Diver's duties at the Institute kept him from participating in the search for the new Autobot Godmasters, {{storylink|An Enemy? Soon thereafter, Diver, Metalhawk and Lander met with their old ally, [[Grand Maximus]], who arrived from space to inform them of the approach of the Decepticon, [[Scorponok (G1)|BlackZarak]], towards Earth. Grand supplied them with the plans and materials necessary to construct a drone named "[[Godbomber]]", which would enable Ginrai to fly and fight in space and defeat BlackZarak before he reached the planet, and Diver and the Pretenders focused their efforts into the completion of this "Bomber Project". {{storylink|Life? Diver stepped back from the front lines at this point, participating only occasionally in battles. The Final Godmaster}} and when BlackZarak returned and made it to Earth, Diver reported to Metalhawk on his progress across the globe. When [[Fire]] blasts the whole team back down the tube into the ''Thunder Arrow'' with a high pressure water blast, Gōryū opts for a "no mercy" approach, and launches a bomb down the energy tube instead. Jean is quick to act, activating Galaxy Shuttle's external manipulator arms and using them to squeeze down on the tube, narrowing it so that the bomb cannot pass through. The bomb drifts back down to the ''Thunder Arrow'' before the Dinoforce can disengage the tube and smashes straight through the hull and out the other side... all without exploding, since [[Kakuryū]] forgot to install the ignition plug in the first place!

Back with Star Saber and Deathsaurus, the Autobot's body is wracked by the deadly blasts of the Living Metal Destroying Cannon, which steadily eats away at the metal cells of his body. Deathsaurus transforms to robot mode and links the cannon up with his internal systems to increase its power, but as he monologues about his fortress and presses the cannon against Star Saber's head, Galaxy Shuttle swoops in and opens fire on the villain. He turns the cannon on the shuttle and clips it with a blast, then swings back around to face Star Saber, quickly pulling the trigger, only for the energy beam to fizzle out before it can strike his foe. Both the cannon and Deathsaurus's sword disappear into subspace, and he realizes that he has depleted too much of his energy in reactivating the fortress, leaving him unable to summon them. The crippled ''Thunder Arrow'' drifts by overhead, and Deathsaurus cackles that he will let Star Saber live for now, before flying off to rejoin his troops. Star Saber realizes how close he came to death, and resolves not to underestimate Deathsaurus's power, or his fearsome obsessiveness.

Jean is quick to act, activating Galaxy Shuttle's external manipulator arms and using them to squeeze down on the tube, narrowing it so that the bomb cannot pass through. The bomb drifts back down to the ''Thunder Arrow'' before the Dinoforce can disengage the tube and smashes straight through the hull and out the other side... all without exploding, since [[Kakuryū]] forgot to install the ignition plug in the first place!

Back with Star Saber and Deathsaurus, the Autobot's body is wracked by the deadly blasts of the Living Metal Destroying Cannon, which steadily eats away at the metal cells of his body. Deathsaurus transforms to robot mode and links the cannon up with his internal systems to increase its power, but as he monologues about his fortress and presses the cannon against Star Saber's head, Galaxy Shuttle swoops in and opens fire on the villain. He turns the cannon on the shuttle and clips it with a blast, then swings back around to face Star Saber, quickly pulling the trigger, only for the energy beam to fizzle out before it can strike his foe. Both the cannon and Deathsaurus's sword disappear into subspace, and he realizes that he has depleted too much of his energy in reactivating the fortress, leaving him unable to summon them. The crippled ''Thunder Arrow'' drifts by overhead, and Deathsaurus cackles that he will let Star Saber live for now, before flying off to rejoin his troops. Star Saber realizes how close he came to death, and resolves not to underestimate Deathsaurus's power, or his fearsome obsessiveness.

Deathsaurus finally decided to join his troops on a mission when the Decepticon began draining electrical energy from an American subway system. While the Breastforce snuck through the subway tunnels, Deathsaurus himself targeted the power distribution center, where he was confronted by Star Saber. The true cunning of Deathsaurus's scheme was revealed when he let loose his Breast Animals, and Star Saber proved no match for the creatures in the small confines of the underground complex. Unfortunately for Deathsaurus, he had overlooked the fact that with both Breast Animals deployed, his own chest was left unprotected, leaving it open to an attack from Star Saber's Saber Blade. When the Breastforce were joined by [[Hellbat]], the newcomer also adopted designs on the Decepticon throne. {{storylink|The New Warrior - Hellbat}} Deathsaurus was even less concerned with Hellbet's ambitions than he was with Leozack's, though, since the two would-be traitors were always too busy fighting with each other to pose a serious threat to him. In their constant games of one-upmanship, Leozack and Hellbat crafted numerous failed schemes of their own, eventually forcing Deathsaurus to step in and give his minions a mission of his own devising. Deathsaurus had the Decepticons hide in the asteroid belt and capture human shuttlecraft in order to use drain their energy and use them to create an energy alloy. While the Breastforce were busy on planet [[Micro]], Deathsaurus and the Dinoforce took the Thunder Arrow into the Dark Nebula, where Deathsaurus emptied his stockpile of energy into his inactive fortress. The giant structure briefly flared back to life, but soon shut down once more; Deathsaurus was unfazed, having only sought to confirm whether or not the fortress could even be reactivated. On the trip back to Earth, the Decepticons crossed paths with Star Saber and the [[Rescue Patrol Team]], and Deathsaurus engaged Star Saber in battle with his Living-Metal-Destroying Cannon. Although Deathsaurus was actually able to pull the trigger on what would have been a fatal blast, he discovered that he had expended too much of his energy supply reactivating his fortress, and his weapons systems shut down before he could end Star Saber's life, necessitating his tactical withdrawal. {{storylink|Resurrection!? Deathsaurus next clashed with Star Saber in Antarctica, only stepping onto the battlefield after the Breastforce, combined as [[Liokaiser]], had severely weakened Star Saber. Deathsaurus took over the fight, intent on being the one to deliver the final blow, but Star Saber was able to turn the battle around, and forced Deathsaurus into retreat. {{storylink|Fight to the Death!! Antarctic Battle}} In a later battle atop the Thunder Arrow, deep in the desert, Star Saber again humbled Deathsaurus, this time with the aid of [[Greatshot]], but the fight left both the Supreme Commander and [[Blacker]] badly wounded. {{storylink|Crisis! Ambush in the Desert}} Capitalizing on the Autobots' reduced manpower, Deathsaurus stepped up the Decepticons' attacks across the planet, and removed another annoyance by finally calling Leozack out on his treachery. Easily besting the traitorous Breastforcer in combat, Deathsaurus forced him to swear total loyalty to him, or face death. Leozack made the logical choice, and then, combined with his fellow Breastforcers as Liokaiser, joined with his leader in staging an ambush for Star Saber in a subterranean cave in Asia. Disguising himself as a Terracotta Army-esque statue, Deathsaurus was able to get the drop on Star Saber when Liokaiser lured him into the cave, and again unleashed the Living-Metal-Destroying Cannon on his enemy. Once more, Deathsaurus stood poised to kill Star Saber with the weapon, until the last-minute arrival of [[Ginrai|God Ginrai]], who took the fatal shot. Liokaiser had to persuade the incensed Deathsaurus to retreat as more Autobots arrived, {{storylink|A Deadly Battle}} but the Decepticon leader soon clashed with Star Saber once more in a later battle at a solar power station. Star Saber and Victory Leo were able to thwart his plan by combining into the mighty Victory Saber; Deathsaurus's missile launch system had been programmed based on Star Saber's speed, but with the added power of Victory Leo, the Autobot hero was able to outrace the missiles, destroy the launcher and defeat Deathsaurus in an outer space battle. {{storylink|The Tide is Turned! Following an attempt to destroy the Autobots with the metal-eating [[Dorya]] insects, {{storylink|The Death-Bringing Space Insects!!}} Deathsaurus was informed by Hellbat that he had discovered the location of the sunken continent of [[Atlantis]], which could provide the raw energy to reactivate his fortress. Deathsaurus risked all or nothing to obtain Atlantis's energy, using up the Thunder Arrow's entire energy stockpile to raise the continent, but the plan proved a success, as the Autobots were too busy dealing with the devastating tidal waves caused by the rise of Atlantis to stop him from absconding with enough energy to bring his fortress back online. {{storylink|The Terror of the Giant Tidal Waves}} Having no further use for the bumbling Dinoforce, Deathsaurus abandoned them on Earth and headed back to the Dark Nebula with the Breastforce, where he successfully re-energized his fortress and began moving it towards Earth. {{storylink|The Wrath of the Resurrected Giant Fortress!}}

Intent on learning from the failures of all past Decepticon leaders, Deathsaurus chose not to conquer Earth, but to utterly destroy the planet, eradicting from Decepticon history the humiliating stain of defeat the planet represented. As the fortress rained destruction down upon Earth with meteor bombs, even Victory Saber could not stand up to its power. Soon, however, a resentful Dinoforce supplied information on the fortress's weak spot to Star Saber's adopted human son, [[Jean Minakaze|Jean]], who then used his own [[Illumina II|personal mech]] to enter the fortress and strike at this vulnerability. As he did so, Deathsaurus and Star Saber engaged in a vicious final battle, during which Deathsaurus lost an eye, and was eventually stopped when Star Saber broke his sword off in the villain's chest. Gushing fuel and fluid, Deathsaurus vowed to have the last laugh as he set the crippled fortress on a collision course with Earth and blew himself out an airlock, vowing to return again and again. But, as his body drifted off into space, no sign of life was visible from the conquered emperor. Deathsaurus and Star Saber's rivalry began 500,000 years ago when they were both children, and according to Star Saber, "argued all the time". {{storylink|The Star of Friendship, Jean and Star Saber!}} In his "adult" years, Deathsaurus took [[Esmeral]] as his wife, and in order to keep both her and the families of his fellow Decepticons safe aboard his "Space Stronghold", Deathsaurus began attacking Earth, in order to obtain the planet's energy and use it to keep the stronghold fully powered-up. {{storylink|Heroic! During one of his early attacks on Earth, Deathsaurus took pity on an infant human named [[Solon Kitakaze]], whose parents had died in the assault. Deathsaurus "adopted" Solon and turned him into a cyborg, raising him as his own son, just as Star Saber did with the human child Jean Minakaze. As Star Saber and Deathsaurus had been rivals in their youth, so too would Solon and Jean become rivals when, in 2025, Deathsaurus's campaign against Earth intensified.

Deathsaurus and Star Saber's first major battle in this campaign was a brief one, with Deathsaurus being felled by a single swipe of Star Saber's Saber Blade, Magnificent! Our Friend, Star Saber! but the Emperor of Destruction had a better showing in their next clash, during which he absorbed enough energy from a forest fire to best Star Saber, Road Caesar and Landcross all together. Deathsaurus's unusual compassion for children proved to be his downfall in this battle when he was distracted by the sight of Solon, gripping Jean in a hold that threatened the boy's life. Deathsaurus later sent Solon to study in school on Earth, in order to learn more about humans, thereby making it easier to conquer them. {{storylink|Leozack Rumbles Violently!}} While Solon was on Earth, he and Jean were approached by former Autobot human allies [[Shūta Gō]] and [[Cab]], {{storylink|Warrior of Love, Star Saber!}} and with Jean, they formed the "Autobot Boy Team" known as the [[Victories]]. Seeking to counter this group with a team of his own, Deathsaurus had [[Yokuryū]] capture Jean and bring him to the ''Thunder Arrow'', where he attempted to bribe the boy into joining the Decepticons' group with toys, Famicom, candy and cash. When an enraged Star Saber soon came tearing into the ''Thunder Arrow'', Deathsaurus crossed swords with the Autobot leader, but was then distracted by Jean distracting who exploited the Decepticon's bizarre fear of caterpillars by dangling one in his face. The cowering Deathsaurus was promptly bested in dramatically explosive fashion by Star Saber's "Planetary Impulse Sword" technique, and realised with hindsight that Solon was the only kid he needed. {{storylink|Watch Out, Jean! Rested and healthy again, Deathsaururs joined with [[Dinoking]] and Liokaiser in going up against Star Saber together, and perhaps not entirely surprisingly, the badly outnumbered Autobot was defeated by the three Decepticons. Before they could deliver the killing stroke, however, Star Saber was saved by the sudden arrival of Victory Leo, with whom he combined to form Victory Saber. The merged pair defeated the trio of Decepticons in one blast of their "Flash Victory" attack. {{storylink|The Strongest Partners, the Combination of Victory!}} Deathsaurus immediately sought out away to combat Star Saber's new power, and developed a Transformer-sized mech for Solon named "King Solon," with which he could combine to form "King Zaras". In this new form, Deathsaurus battled Victory Saber on the planet [[Guard]], with neither combatant getting the upper hand in other three hours of fighting. When [[Patty Minakaze]]'s mentioned the word "mother", however, something of Solon's past was stirred in the boy's mind, and he was distracted long enough for Victory Saber to destroy the King Solon mech components with his Victory. The burning Solon tumbled to the ground, where Patty tended his wounds despite his protestations. As it turned out, Deathsaurus was right to be wary—in the midst of a later battle with Star Saber and Road Caesar, Solon turned against Deathsaurus and sided with the Victories, opening fire on his "father" and declaring that he would fight to protect the Earth, instead of destroy it. Now with Solon on their side, the Victories were able to channel their power into the Autobots, and the Decepticons were sent fleeing by the "Five Stars of Victory" attack. {{storylink|Shine! The Five Stars of Victory}} Deathsaurus led the Decepticons back to the Space Stronghold and began bombarding the Earth with meteor bombs, prompting the Autobots to attack it. Deathsaurus left the Breastforce to man the fortress while he engaged Star Saber in a final battle in the void of space, but had not reckoned with the treachery of Leozack, who fired on his emperor with the fortress's main cannon. To save himself, Deathsaurus was forced to return fire on the fortress, and Star Saber followed suite, smashing into the fortress's control chamber and taking Leozack down. As Leozack begged the Autobots not to destroy the fortress, the wounded Deathsaurus arrived and revealed to the Autobots the presence of the Decepticons' families aboard the vessel. Realizing that the Decepticons' had only done what they had in the name of their families' safety, Star Saber decided that it was time for the two leaders to follow the example set by their sons and lay down their arms. Using a clone lab on [[Ceti Alpha Seven]], Deathsaurus wished to revive the fading [[Decepticon Empire]] with a vast [[Insecticon (G1)|Insecticon]] army. After the first batch of [[Virulent Clone|clones]] was completed, his operation was interrupted by a team of [[Autobot]] commandos under the command of [[Ironhide (G1)|Ironhide]]. Deathsaurus overpowered and captured the first wave himself, and soon faced Ironhide one-on-one, while [[Ratchet (G1)|Ratchet]] attempted to rescue the fallen Autobots. Due to the assistance of Tripredacus Agent [[Flamewar]], these two were defeated and captured as well.

They woke up bound inside Deathsaurus's clone lab. The Emperor of Destruction appeared on a television screen, declaring that his use for the lab was completed and was prepared to detonate it remotely with the Autobots inside. One day, while on routine patrol through the Rockies, Ranger's attention was caught by a strange glow emanating from beneath a patch of snow. Investigating, Ranger discovered that the source of the glow was a strange, black rock, which he took back to his cabin and stored in his barn. Although the rock baffled him, he was fascinated by it, and began repeatedly painting the mountain on which he had found it.

Some time later, Ranger was again out on patrol when he chanced upon a group of people—the [[Autobot]]s [[Ginrai]], [[Lightfoot]], [[Metalhawk]] and [[Lander]]—as they were about to enter a mineshaft. Ranger warned them that there had been a lot of cave-ins in the area, only to wind up quite bemused when they ignored his caution and went on into the mine anyway. Carrying on his way, Ranger next came upon a young man—in truth, the [[Decepticon]] [[Bullhorn]]—and supplied him with directions through the forest, after which he decided to take a break and go fishing. On the riverbank, he met two more youngsters, who introduced themselves as [[Shūta Gō]] and [[Cab]], and shared his special bait with them, enabling Cab to make his first catch all day. A few moments later, the two boys' fellow Autobot [[Headmaster Junior]] [[Minerva]] arrived, but refused to get close to Ranger, having spotted him with Bullhorn earlier and mistakenly leapt to the conclusion that he was working with the Decepticons. Before departing, Ranger told the boys that if they needed any more help, they could drop by his cabin.

That night, when a fierce storm lashed the forest, Shūta and Cab took Ranger up on his offer, and brought the whole Autobot party to Ranger's cabin. When Lander asked about Ranger's large collection of mountain paintings, he told them about the strange rock, and at their insistence, led them out to his barn and showed it to them. In the presence of Ginrai and Lightfoot's [[Master-Brace]]s, the rock began to glow, and the Autobots realized that the monolith was, in fact, a [[Godmaster]] [[Transtector]]. Without even waiting for an objection, they slapped a pair of Master-Braces on Ranger's wrists, and when Ranger discovered he could not remove them, they knew that he was their next Godmaster. Ranger, however, was the sort of guy who thought that "Transformers" were a circus act, and so the Autobots spent the night telling him their story.

The new day dawned violently, when the Decepticon Headmaster Juniors suddenly attacked Ranger's cabin and absconded with the Transtector. As the Autobots transformed to robot mode and gave chase, Ranger was amazed at the sight of people changing into robots, but his emotions soon shifted when he discovered his wounded horse in the wreckage of the barn. As Minerva tended to the horse, Ranger, overcome with rage, pursued the Transformers with his rifle in hand, finally catching up to them just as Decepticon Godmasters [[Hydra (Masterforce)|Hydra]] and [[Buster (Masterforce)|Buster]] arrived to join the battle. Ranger opened fire and manage to shoot Hydra in the eye, prompting Buster to blast out the cliff from under Ranger's feet. As Ranger tumbled to certain doom, Ginrai shouted out the necessary directions for him to activate his Godmaster powers, and Ranger quickly followed them. As his Godmaster armor materialized around him, the Transtector rock was suddenly transformed into a baja buggy, to which Ranger connected, transforming into robot mode. Ranger was fortunate to not actually have to fight on this occasion, as the Decepticons, badly outnumbered by the Autobots, immediately fled. Ranger later helped defend the construction facility where the Autobots were building Ginrai's new power-up done, [[Godbomber]], against Decepticon attack, battling both the Decepticon Pretenders and Hydra and Buster. {{storylink|Will the Bomber Project Be Destroyed!?|Will the Bomber Project Be Destroyed!?}} The construction of Godbomber was subsequently completed, and its power allowed Ginrai to travel into space to battle [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]] and [[Scorponok (G1)|BlackZarak]]. {{storylink|God Ginrai - Into the Sky!!}} Lightfoot and the other Autobots could do nothing but watch the battle from Earth, but Ginrai ultimately emerged victorious. {{storylink|God Ginrai - Showdown on the Surface of the Moon}}

Ranger next went into action when he, Road King and Lightfoot rescued the passengers of a stricken cruise ship while Ginrai and the Headmaster Juniors battle the Decepticons. That battle took a surprise twist when the Autobots were suddenly saved by the final Godmaster, [[Clouder]], {{storylink|Appearance!! The Final Godmaster}} who subsequently joined their ranks. Little did the heroes realize that Clouder was, in fact, a Decepticon double-agent, who was feeding information on the Autobot base to his evil allies. Clouder's deception was soon discovered and Ranger joined in the battle to bring him down, but the damage was done: a staged attack by Hydra and Buster drew Ranger, Road King, Lightfoot and Ginrai out of the base, at which point the rest of the Decepticon forces began an all-out assault against the Autobots' headquarters. {{storylink|Secret Orders! Destroy the Autobot Base!!}} When news of the siege reached the Godmasters, Ranger and Road King continued rescue operations in the city while Ginrai and Lightfoot headed back to the base. Ranger helped battle BlackZarak when the powerful Decepticon returned to Earth, {{storylink|BlackZarak - Destroyer from Space}} and then journeyed into space aboard Grand Maximus with the other Autobots to stop the villain from unleashing the [[Death Para-Machine]] against the Earth. {{storylink|Crisis! The Day of the Downfall of Humanity}} Ranger later battled Hydra and Buster in northern Europe, {{storylink|God Ginrai - Save Cancer!?}} then helped the other Autobots search for the Decepticons' hidden base. That search promptly ended when Shūta was kidnapped and held prisoner in the villains' lair, and while Ginrai headed there to rescue him, Ranger and the Autobot Pretenders were occupied battling the Decepticon Pretenders and Seacons in Geneva. {{storylink|God Ginrai: Showdown at the Decepticon Base}}

With the location of the Decepticon base revealed after Ginrai's battle there, the Autobots prepared to initiate a full-scale attack on their enemies, staged from Angkor Wat in Cambodia. Ranger and Road King were the last Autobots to arrive at the temples, and Ranger gave Road King a quick run-down on the ancient structure's history as they drove up to it. The subsequent attack on the Decepticon headquarters culminated in the fusion of BlackZarak with the Decepticon emperor [[Devil Z]], who collapsed the base in a failed attempt to destroy the Autobots. {{storylink|The Ultimate Combination!! With their base destroyed, the Decepticons relocated to the [[Grand Canyon]], and were pursued by the Autobots, who split into teams for the attack. Ranger and the Headmaster Juniors were attacked by [[King Poseidon]], but before anything fatal could befall them, Devil Z called for the Decepticons to fall back to their next attack position in the Alps. {{storylink|Autobots! Desperate Attack!!}} The Autobots again gave chase, but no sooner has they arrived in the snowy slopes than Ranger, Road King and Lightfoot were promptly buried under an avalanche by the merged BlackZarak/Devil Z entity. Ginrai and Grand Maximus dug the three heroes out, but Ginrai requested that they stay back so that he could make the first strike on BlackZarak himself. {{storylink|Malevolent and Inhuman! The True Form of Devil Z}} While Ginrai engaged BlackZarak in battle, Ranger and the other Godmasters battled the weakened Hydra and Buster, and then the Transtectors of Clouder, [[Wilder]], [[Cancer]] and Bullhorn, which had been brought to life by the power of Devil Z. At the battle's conclusion, Ginrai and the Headmaster Juniors united their powers to destroy BlackZarak and Devil Z for good, prompting the Decepticons to break off the battle and flee into space. As Ranger and the rest of the heroes watched them go, the Autobots were all enveloped in bright light, and when it faded, they found that the death of Devil Z had caused them to be separated from their Transtectors.
