Astrotrain arrived on [[Earth]] during the second year of [[Megatron (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Megatron]]'s campaign to conquer the planet and its energy resources. His activities prior to that point remain unclear, but he was first seen guarding human slaves in an energy mine following the Decepticon takeover of [[Central City (Earth)|Central City]]. When the Autobots returned from a brief exile in space, Astrotrain and his comrades were defeated and sent packing. {{storylink|Megatron's Master Plan, Part 2}}

He once transported Megatron to the [[Moon (moon)|moon]] where he and the Decepticons' leader attempted to jam Earth's radio waves. The attempt was interrupted by the arrival of [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]], [[Spike Witwicky (G1)|Spike]], [[Carly]], and [[Optimus Prime (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Optimus Prime]]. Astrotrain engaged in a bad pun, accused Omega Supreme of being too outdated to catch him, and then was the victim of a Cybertronian's impression of a sandworm (see image) before being thrown a few planetary diameters. {{storylink|Blaster Blues}}

Typically one of the more easy-going among the Decepticons, even Astrotrain isn't above letting a little power go to his head. While tracking [[Cosmos (G1)|Cosmos]], he shot down the Autobot, who had been on a fuel scouting mission, and managed to trick the [[Titan (species)|people]] of [[Titan (moon)|Titan]] into believing that he was one of their Sky Gods, so that they would mine energy crystals for him and the Decepticons. Astrotrain used [[Jero]], a corrupt High Priest who was as fanatical as he was ruthless, to further his ends. However, the Autobots [[Jazz (G1)|Jazz]] and [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]] arrived aboard Omega Supreme looking for Cosmos. Omega Supreme was virtually out of fuel after the trip, but the Autobots soon managed to refuel him using the energy crystals. Knowing that he, [[Starscream (G1)/Generation 1 cartoon continuity|Starscream]] and [[Thrust (G1)|Thrust]] alone couldn't beat Omega Supreme, Astrotrain destroyed the crystals in a fit of pique before flying off, leaving Jero to die like the worm he was. Astrotrain was used by Megatron to transport energy rich asteroid ore being mined by the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]] in high orbit. Astrotrain maintained his shuttle mode so that [[Long Haul (G1)|Long Haul]] could load him with cargo. He apparently did not have very keen sensors in that form, as the Autobot Cosmos was able to very clumsily swipe some ore from his open cargo bay, then loudly fell over Astrotrain's side without the Decepticon even reacting. {{storylink|The Secret of Omega Supreme}}

Astrotrain later transported [[Ramjet (G1)|Ramjet]] and [[Dirge (G1)|Dirge]] to the planet [[Monacus]] to check up on Decepticon sympathizer [[Lord Gyconi]]. When they learned that Gyconi had captured a number of Autobots and brainwashed them into mindless slaves, the Decepticons tried to stow them aboard Astrotrain to take them back to Megatron. However, their plan was stopped by [[Smokescreen (G1)|Smokescreen]], [[Devcon (G1)|Devcon]] and [[Slizardo]], and the latter two followed Astrotrain into space as he escaped with his comrades. {{storylink|The Gambler}}

When [[Deceptitran]] sent word for assistance in overcoming [[Tlalakan]] rebels, Astrotrain transported Megatron and his warriors to that distant world to protect their energon horde. The rebellion gained Transformer aid of their own, though, and [[Seaspray (G1)|Seaspray]] and friends drove off the Decepticons and led the Tlalakans to freedom. {{storylink|Sea Change}}

However, the incident on Titan had given Astrotrain a taste of power, and he decided he liked it. With the help of [[Blitzwing (G1)|Blitzwing]], Astrotrain froze Megatron and Starscream in a sewer system in order to take over the Decepticons. He then created an army of trains to help him rule, thinking it was a good idea. Although he managed to amass a surprisingly large amount of [[energon cube]]s, the productive day ended with him flooding the entire city after bursting a water main. Worse, Megatron thawed out. The embarrassment of these incidents forced Astrotrain to creep back into the Decepticon ranks quietly... at [[fusion cannon]] point. {{storylink|Triple Takeover}}

[[Lord Chumley]] used Astrotrain's likeness as a lure to capture [[Tracks (G1)|Tracks]] and Bumblebee. Megatron later sent the real Astrotrain (as well as Blitzwing) to go negotiate with Chumley so they could team up to annihilate the Autobots. The Triple Changers arrived in time to see Optimus refuse to rescue a distressed young woman. Astrotrain was curious, but Blitzwing fell for the ruse and got stuck, so Astrotrain was left with no other option but going to the castle to free him. On his way there, Astrotrain found Chumley using a [[Chumley's arachnoid drones|robotic scorpion]] to fight Optimus Prime, and proposed Megatron's deal. Chumley responded by flinging the Decepticon away, hanging him up to the walls, and defusing his weapons. Astrotrain was frustrated and explained himself, but Chumley rejected the notion and claimed he'd rather have the help of an aardvark. But as Prime inched closer, Chumley panicked and freed the Decepticons, who promptly made their getaway. Megatron dispatched Astrotrain, Starscream, Ramjet, and [[Rumble (G1)|Rumble]] in order to catch the [[Female Autobots]], making up for Shockwave's failure. Running into their leader, [[Elita One]], Astrotrain and Ramjet grabbed her and took her prisoner. When Optimus Prime arrived to rescue Elita, she kicked Astrotrain in the face, forcing him to lose his grip. He recovered and was able to celebrate Prime's apparent disintegration, later got zapped by the duo of sweethearts [[Inferno (G1)|Inferno]] and [[Firestar]], and in shuttle mode he transported the retreating Decepticons away. {{storylink|The Search for Alpha Trion}} Megatron's next mission for Astrotrain was to go with Thrust and Ramjet to salvage Dirge and his cargo, who crashed in a swamp near a movie set. When they arrived, Astrotrain deployed a pair of claws to haul Dirge back, while a nearby [[director]] filmed them. Once they returned to headquarters, Astrotrain informed Megatron of the film crew that was watching them as they carted the device, and the enraged Megatron set out to destroy the film. {{storylink|Hoist Goes Hollywood}}

Astrotrain transported Megatron, Starscream and Rumble to the lost Autobot colony of [[Antilla]], where they discovered the entire civilization had been wiped out by the deadly [[Cosmic Rust (disease)|Cosmic Rust]]. Not heeding a holographic warning from the Autobots, Megatron ventured further into the colony and seized an [[Lightning Bug|advanced heat ray weapon]] from its storage chamber. As they left Antilla, a Cosmic Rust spore-filled asteroid appeared to chase after Astrotrain, prompting Megatron to test out of the power of the 'Lightning Bug' weapon on the space rock. The blast obliterated the asteroid, but the shrapnel from the explosion pierced Astrotrain's hull and punctured Megatron's chest plate, infecting him with Cosmic Rust. Astrotrain witnessed Starscream throw a fit over Megatron's obsession with Shockwave, and was surprised as everyone else when the Seeker shot Megatron in the back. But when Megatron overpowered his subordinate, Astrotrain was disgusted and allowed Starscream to be humiliated. He was then present for a battle with Starscream's new team of [[Combaticon (G1)|Combaticons]], but didn't contribute anything in particular. At the end of the day, Megatron ordered Astrotrain to take the traitorous Starscream and the Combaticons to an asteroid floating through space, where they would be banished forever. {{storylink|Starscream's Brigade}} Astrotrain could be glimpsed on the simulation of Megatron's [[orbit disruptor cannon]], but did not get to actually see it in person. {{storylink|B.O.T. In the year 2005, he transported the Decepticons away after getting their aft-sections [[Battle of Autobot City|handed to them]] at [[Autobot City]]. He couldn't make it back to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] with the amount of weight on board, so they tossed [[Megatron (G1)|some]] [[Insecticon (G1)|dead]] [[Thundercracker (G1)|weight]] overboard. After that, Astrotrain served as the ring for the subsequent fight among the Decepticons to replace the ejected Megatron, where the [[Constructicon (G1)|Constructicons]] formed [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]] inside him (slag, Astrotrain is big!) and Rumble and [[Frenzy (G1)|Frenzy]] used their piledrivers (slag, Astrotrain is sturdy!) Apparently, they all made it back fine, and Astrotrain was the one to crown Starscream during his coronation as the new [[Decepticon leader]]. {{storylink|The Transformers: The Movie}}

When the Decepticons lost their hold on Cybertron, Astrotrain went with the rest of them to [[Chaar]], where he was seen trying to deliver Energon cubes to the starving army. When he tried to take a cube for himself while the Constructicons were fighting amongst themselves for the energy, they merged into Devastator and kicked him aside. Devastator was then distracted by [[Menasor (G1)|Menasor]], and Astrotrain made another move for the cube, only to be shot by [[Cyclonus (G1)|Cyclonus]]. Such is life. When Cyclonus insulted the Decepticons for their behavior, Astrotrain somewhat notably mentioned that he knew [[Galvatron (G1)|Galvatron]] and Megatron "were the same guy". Cyclonus later stated that he needed energon as it was needed to revive Galvatron, and Astrotrain gave him the rest of his supplies. When the Quintessons offered the Decepticons energon, Astrotrain joined his cohorts in the feasting, and when the Quintessons made a proposition, he agreed to go with it and went to battle the Autobots with everyone else. {{storylink|Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3}} He later participated in a battle in space under unknown circumstances. {{storylink|The Killing Jar}}

Astrotrain then helped Galvatron and the [[Predacon (G1)|Predacons]] with the plan to destroy Cybertron with a [[death crystal cannon]]. {{storylink|Chaos (episode)|Chaos}} Later on, when [[Scourge (G1)|intruders]] found their way inside [[Trypticon (G1)|Trypticon]], Astrotrain responded to the alarm but ended up being possessed by Starscream's [[Spark|ghost]] because of his useful cargo space. Starscream flew his body most of the way to [[Unicron]]'s head, then left it when he closed in on Cybertron, leaving Astrotrain to be shot down by the [[Protectobot (G1)|Protectobots]]. Astrotrain was then captured and interrogated by the Autobots, but was as confused as they were about why he had been flying so close to Cybertron all by himself. Later, Astrotrain stumbled upon [[Sky Lynx (G1)|Sky Lynx]] in space and battled him until the two were suddenly interrupted by a laser barrage from the nearby [[Junkion (planet)|Planet of Junk]] and retreated. Astrotrain and his fellow Triple Changers were commissioned by [[Ratbat (G1)|Ratbat]] to investigate the loss of his [[Wash and Roll|priceless cargo]] that had arrived on Earth via a low-cost freighter, but hadn't checked in as scheduled. Upon making contact with the crashed ship, Astrotrain and his companions were infected with [[Scraplet|Scraplets]], and began to slowly waste away. Lucky for them, the Autobot [[Blaster (G1)|Blaster]] was also infected, and his friends managed to re-discover the [[Water|strange and wondrous chemical]] that acted as a cure. In saving Blaster, the Triple Changers were incidentally saved as well. Astrotrain showed quick thinking when he identified a nearby [[G.B. Blackrock]] as a useful asset and hypnotically gained control of him, thus ensuring the viability of [[Buster Witwicky and the Car Wash of Doom|Ratbat's greatest plan]]. {{storylink|The Cure!}}

The Triple Changers then linked up with Shockwave's Decepticons on Earth, which soon fell under the command of their former superior on Cybertron, Ratbat. Astrotrain's carcass lay undiscovered at the bottom of the sea for ten years until Megatron managed to find him. His remains were excavated piece by piece by enslaved [[Human|humans]] and transported to Megatron's base of operations within the wrecked [[Ark (G1)|Ark]] in northern [[Canada]]. Using incomplete schematics and Megatron's memories of Astrotrain's old body, Astrotrain was finally reconstructed. Astrotrain was immediately put in charge of finding the remnants of the rest of the Decepticons who fell at the hands of the [[Underbase]]-powered Starscream, plus the unpleasant task of carting them back to their headquarters. In the Autobot side of the story, Megatron sent Astrotrain to collect the energy they had drained from the hydroelectric power station. When Astrotrain was almost at the generator, he had caught up to a squad of Autobots who had come to stop the Decepticons. Astrotrain got the Autobots attention by blowing his train whistle and approached them in his train form. When he reached the Autobots, he transformed to robot form and announced that all the energy at the power station belonged to the Decepticons. He told the Autobot squad his orders, warned them that he would destroy the Autobots if they got in his way, and threatened to show them the true power of a triple changer. Optimus Prime requested that Astrotrain leave, but the locomotive/space shuttle Transformer brushed this off with a "whatever," and engaged the Autobots. Despite his best efforts, Astrotrain was defeated. Optimus told the triple changer to fly back on his prized wings, back to Megatron. Realizing that he was defeated, Astrotrain decided to retreat, transforming to his space shuttle form and blasted off. He faced off the Autobots once again outside ELTA. Despite having already fought Snapdragon, Apeface, and countless Decepticon foot soldiers in between them all, the Autobots managed to overcome the triple changer once again.

During the Decepticon storyline, Astrotrain was a member of a team that Megatron sent to investigate a mysterious UFO that was spotted in the area of Zel Samine. Something caused the team to lose contact with the main Decepticon forces, and they found out that they could not leave the planet, as Zel's sun, Paradius, emitted electromagnetic rays that was harmful to them. Unable to contact Megatron and with no way to leave the planet safely, Astrotrian and the others scattered across Zel.

The Decepticon forces went to Zel in order to investigate, and Astrotrain found the Decepticons while they were at the hydroelectric power station. He called out to them in his train mode and blew his whistle. He rolled up to them and transformed to robot mode once he was close enough, expressing relief for finding them as his energon supplies had been getting low. The ''Nemesis'' arrives, but Tigerhawk's attack has depleted its [[Energon (fuel)|energon]] reserves, and the fusion cannon requires time to recharge. Megatron activates its tractor beam, and Primal enters the ''Nemesis''. He and Megatron duke it out, but the Predacon clearly has the advantage. On the Ark, the Maximals manage to get the engines on line, but they burn out almost instantly. [[Rattrap]] proclaims that they are all going to die, and for once, no one tells him to shut up. Instead, the characteristically stoic Rhinox simply responds with "Yup".

Optimus urges Dinobot to save himself, but he remains with the ship, bidding farewell to Primal. As the ''Nemesis'' crashes, Primal rejoins the Maximals.

*When Optimus returns to the Maximal base and tries to communicate with Tigerhawk, his right wing is missing.
*At one point, Optimus tears his wing off and tosses it to jam the giant grinder mechanisms on the bottom of the ''Nemesis''. However, in the next scene in which he appears, his wing has been replaced with no explanation.
*As the Maximals await their doom inside the Ark and Rattrap comments on how they're "all gonna die", he's missing his robot-mode "backpack".
*Megatron apparently transforms to dragon mode off-screen, transforms back to robot mode on-screen before the scene cuts away, then when next we see him, he is in dragon mode again!
*For most of the episode, Optimus is missing the "blast shields" that he usually wears on either his forearms or shoulders.
*As Optimus enters the Nemesis's Bridge to confront Megatron, he's missing his blast shields, but when Megatron grabs his head, he's is seen with them, what's more strange is that in the next shot they're missing again.
* In the final battle scene, Dinobot is flipped horizontally. (See first glitch.)

It should be noted, however, that despite the cut, Optimus's lines from that segment were still included in the episode, albeit used in a different context.
*In "[[Other Victories]]", Megatron is perplexed by the idea of Tarantulas trying to destroy the Ark and Tigerhawk states that doing so would erase those descended from Autobots and Decepticons. So why is Megatron doing it ''now''? Considering his religious babbling, it comes off like he's gone mad and thinks it'll erase everyone ''but'' him...
*It seems unlikely that the Maximals would leave a Predacon on Earth, even one as incompetent as Waspinator. It's possible they just didn't know he was still alive, though in the ''Beast Machines'' episode "[[The Catalyst]]", Blackarachnia remarks that she was aware that they'd left him stranded on prehistoric Earth.

I have no reference to back it up, but I am very sure that I read an explanation for the size changing in the Marvel Comics waaay back when. It was in the letters page and someone had asked how Soundwave could be both small enough to be a cassette player and also big enough to hold Megatron as a gun and fire him. The "explanation" given was that they released a "sort of gas" which shrank their molecular structure - totally impossible, obviously. Can anyone back this up? One way that non-Transformer species seem to have influenced [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertronian]] culture is the relatively rare occurrence of [[Transformer]]s wearing clothing.

From time to time, some high-ranked Cybertronians tend to wear capes. Presumably, they are a symbol of office, as only generals, commanders, and other such leaders have been seen sporting them. Exactly what material these capes are made from is unknown, but one presumes that Earth-style fabrics are likely extremely rare on Cybertron (which could make the capes even ''more'' special, considering).

* [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Generation 1 Optimus Prime]] and [[Megatron (G1)|Generation 1 Megatron]] wore capes while serving as the leaders of the [[Cybertron Alliance]]. '''Leozack''' (レオザック ''Reozakku'') is the commander of the elite Decepticon [[Breastforce]] and notionally [[Deathsaurus (Victory)|Deathsaurus]]'s most trusted warrior...except he really can't be trusted at all. Leozack despises being anything less than the top 'bot and is constantly struggling to have it all—including leadership of the Decepticons. Unlike [[Starscream (G1)|those that have come before]], however, Leozack is smart enough to keep his ambitions hidden from his emperor, preferring to gather the resources and power necessary to fuel his dreams of conquest in secret. The thing is, Deathsaurus is fully aware of Leozack's dreams and schemes, and to say that he doesn't rate Leozack as a threat would be putting it mildly. In Deathsaurus's eyes, Leozack is an overzealous youth with ideas above his station, and while he conceals his awareness of Leozack's treachery from him, he never misses a chance to make his contempt for Leozack well-known. This drives Leozack absolutely crazy, and he often takes irrational risks trying to prove to Deathsaurus that he is a capable warrior.

The Dinoforce went about their task and drew Star Saber out, and both Leozack and Deathsaurus, watching the conflict from afar on the ''[[Thunder Arrow]]'', were taken aback to see the Autobot leader piloting the [[V-Star]] battlecraft, which they had never seen before. Leozack was about to head out to battle Star Saber, but Deathsaurus suggested he hold back and observe this new turn of events instead. The ''Thunder Arrow'' subsequently set down on Earth, and Leozack vowed to end Star Saber's life as a gift to Deathsaurus. He attacked Star Saber when the Autobot leader was bringing his human son [[Jean Minakaze|Jean]] to school, putting the whole campus in danger. Leozack grappled with Star Saber, but with his Lionbreast busy fighting [[Holi]], his torso was left unprotected, leaving him open to a damaging slash from Star Saber's Saber Blade, which forced him to retreat. {{storylink|Attack! Leozack was soon joined by his Breastforce teammates [[Drillhorn]], [[Jallguar]] and [[Killbison]], and together, they arranged an attack on an energy plant in the desert. Recruiting the Dinoforce to help him, Leozack had them attack the [[Ocean Exhibition]] amusement park, with the intention of turning it into a personal base for himself. He even revealed his ambition to overthrow Deathsaurus to [[Gōryū]], and while the Dinoforce leader was not particularly impressed, he decided to go along with the stunt anyway. Unsurprisingly, the Autobots soon arrived, and Leozack was defeated by Star Saber, after which he attempted to bluff his way out of trouble by telling Deathsaurus that he had intended to turn the park into a seawater energy conversion plant. {{storylink|Move Out! The Energy Base}} Leozack joined the other Decepticons in stealing energy from an American subway system. The plan was Deathsaurus's own, and Leozack advocated caution, but when Deathsaurus embarrassed him into silence in front of the other Decepticons, he was left in a bad mood for the whole mission. Consequently, Leozack decided to disobey orders and blast the subway tunnels open so they could access the electrical systems more easily. This, of course, attracted the attention of the Autobots, and Leozack wound up battling [[Blacker]] in the cramped underground quarters. Hoping to redeem himself for past failures, Leozack summoned another of his Breastforce teammates, [[Hellbat]], to Earth to steal information from the [[New Energy Resource Research and Development Laboratory]] in Japan. Unfortunately, Hellbat botched the job, leading to another battle with the Autobots. The Decepticons were defeated by a brainwave scrambler invented by [[Braver]], which Leozack was able to steal as he retreated. Alas, the scrambler only worked on Decepticons, and the dressing-down that Leozack received from Deathsaurus only convinced Hellbat that he could do a better job of leading the Breastforce himself. {{storylink|The New Warrior - Hellbat}} Hellbat proceeded to go over Leozack's head with information he had about an energy shipment being transported in Nevada. Leozack was naturally furious, but Hellbat’s honeyed words convinced Leozack to carry out the attack with him so they could steal the energy for their own personal supply. The Asteroid}} Leozack took the Breastforce to the planet [[Micro]], intending to free another of their comrades, [[Guyhawk]], from the [[Planet Micro Satellite Penitentiary|Satellite Penitentiary]] on the planet's moon. Following the success of this mission, {{storylink|Rescue! Guyhawk}} Leozack sought to complete the team by summoning the final member, [[Deathcobra (Victory)|Deathcobra]], to join them. With Deathcobra on the team, Leozack could finally boot out the untrustworthy Hellbat, and the remaining six members could merge into their combined form of [[Liokaiser]]. Learning of this, Hellbat tried to stop Deathcobra from meeting with the others and accidentally wound up killing him in the fight that ensued. He prevented Leozack from discovering this by blaming the Autobot [[Micromaster]] Holi for the deed, and so secured his place as part of Liokaiser. After defeating Star Saber in their first combined outing, {{storylink|Unite! With the heavy automotive Autobots unable to manoeuvre in the shifting sands, the Breastforce were able to damage Blacker badly and deal a serious blow to the Autobots. {{storylink|Crisis! Ambush in the Desert}} With the Autobots weakened by this loss in manpower, Deathsaurus decided it was time to increase the rate of Decepticon attacks…but this was not a good thing for Leozack, since the first thing Deathsaurus did was set his Breast Animals upon the Breastforce leader, pinning him to the floor of the throne room. Placing his sword against Leozack's face, Deathsaurus informed Leozack that he had always been aware of his second-in-command's ambition to lead the Decepticons, and he offered the would-be traitor a choice: Swear absolute loyalty to him or die. When Star Saber was off-planet attending a [[Galactic Peace Alliance]] conference, Leozack exploited his absence by donning a large exo-skeleton that allowed him to pose as the Autobot leader. Entering the Autobots' headquarters with the claim that he had intercepted a Decepticon message reporting that bombs had been planted in the base, he searched for the disk containing the information on Star Saber and Victory Leo's combination process while the other Autobots were hunting for the nonexistent explosives. Leozack made Victory Leo suspicious when he accidentally electrocuted himself while rummaging under a console and had to trick Holi and Jean into showing him where the disk was. Leozack nearly got away with the disk, but at the last moment, the real Star Saber returned to expose the villain's deception and send him packing. {{storylink|A Mystery?! Unfortunately for Leozack, Star Saber's son Jean happened to be watching the battle, and noticed that Leozack was missing his breastplate—the Decepticon had accidentally forgotten to bring it with him! Later, Leozack and the other Breastforcers combined into Liokaiser to battle Star Saber on [[Energy Planet X]]. Star Saber smashed his way into the fortress control room and slashed Leozack with his "Planetary Impulse Sword", but even as the treacherous Decepticon collapsed, he begged the Autobots not to destroy the fortress. Under [[Banzai-Tron (G1)|Banzai-Tron]]'s command, Leozack and his fellow Skyraider warriors Skyquake, [[Hooligan (G2)|Hooligan]], [[Hellbat]], and [[Guyhawk]], followed the Autobot ship ''[[Eight Track (G1)|Eight Track]]'' to the planet [[Beta-Nine]], where they hoped to beat them to a mysterious cargo that had crashed there aboard the ''[[Van De Graaff]].'' Leozack, Skyquake, and Hooligan attacked the Autobots, separating the crew's [[Kup (G1)|youngest member]] from them. The Autobots' commander, [[Thunder Clash]], drove Leozack and the others away with a barrage of firepower, allowing his crew to escape into the trees where the Decepticons would have to fight them on the ground.

Skyquake departed after Thunder Clash and ordered Leozack and Hooligan to kill the remaining two Autobots, [[Landshark]] and [[Flak (G1)|Flak]]. Flak leapt out at them, demanding a fight, and Leozack was happy to oblige him. Unfortunately, this was a diversion, and once Flak had occupied their attention, Landshark surprised Leozack with a massive punch.

On [[Velocitron]], [[Override (Cybertron)|Override]], [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]], [[Crumplezone (Cybertron)|Crumplezone]] and [[Ransack (Cybertron)|Ransack]] assemble before the [[Planet Cup]] shrine. All four racers begin to glow as the shrine recognizes them as participants in the final round of the great race, and a new subterranean course is unlocked on which the final race will take place. Hot Shot is exciting at tackling the roller-coaster-esque track, but [[Red Alert (Armada)|Red Alert]] gives him some grave news: injuries he has sustained throughout the course of the race have left the circuit pathways that deliver commands to his main engine damaged, and he will need a passenger to ride with him for the duration of the race and constantly make corrections to his system. [[Jetfire (Armada)|Jetfire]], who has recently arrived from [[Earth]], suggests [[Jolt (Cybertron)|Jolt]] for the job, but the [[Mini-Con]]'s rotor blades make him too big to fit into Hot Shot's cockpit. Reminded of a time when he lost a moto-cross race in his younger years, and the importance of the lesson he learned on not giving up, [[Coby Hansen|Coby]] volunteers for the task, and after clearing it with Override, the Autobots allow it.

The last race soon commences, and Override and Hot Shot quickly outstrip their two Decepticon opponents. Crumplezone and Ransack have not been resting on their laurels, however: they have installed several new gimmicks and gadgets into their systems, and begin their trickery by using springs to launch themselves across the raceway, quickly closing the gap between the racers. Hot Shot's speed begins to drop as the group nears a huge vertical loop, but Coby soon fixes the problem with a little prompting from [[Clocker (Cybertron)|Clocker]]. Crumplezone and Ransack reveal their second modification, activating new nitrous boosters to speed them through the loop... except the two goons run out of nitrous at the top of the loop, and fall off the track, knocking themselves right out of the race. Abandoning any pretense of following the rules, the troublemaking pair then try to steal the Planet Cup outright, but they can't get through the forcefield protecting it. Override and Hot Shot break off the race long enough to send the partners in crime packing, but as he and Override laugh at the retreating Decepticons, a sudden twinge of pain shoots through Hot Shot...

The race resumes, with the next obstacle on the course taking the form of dangerous high-speed 90° cornering. As the two Transformers tear up the track, Hot Shot's speed starts to drop once more, and the cause is soon traced to Hot Shot's fried main engine connector, a physical problem that Coby cannot fix through his computer. Risking his own safety by unlatching his harness, Coby opens an access panel in Hot Shot's cockpit and manually rewires his circuits. Holding the key cables together with his bare hands, Coby gives Hot Shot the power boost he needs, and the Autobot racer draws level with Override once again. For the final push, Hot Shot activates his [[Cyber Key]] power, and the two opponents tear through the goal in a photo finish! After a long, tense moment, the photo comes in... and Hot Shot is the winner! Though stunned at her loss, Override congratulates Hot Shot on his victory, and Hot Shot thanks Coby for all his help.

With the race complete, the forcefield around the Planet Cup dissolves... at which point, a [[dimension gate]] materializes in the air above the track, and [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]] and his Decepticons arrive to steal the trophy! He has been followed, however, by [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]], [[Overhaul (Cybertron)|Leobreaker]] and [[Vector Prime]], and a battle breaks out between the two sides as Megatron seizes the Planet Cup. Override and Hot Shot charge Megatron in vehicle mode, throwing him off balance, and Leobreaker and Optimus Prime combine into Savage Claw Mode to exploit this opening and take the Decepticon leader down. The Planet Cup goes flying, but Override nimbly snatches it out of the air. The battle and the prize lost to them, the Decepticons retreat, leaving Hot Shot to be crowned the new champion of Velocitron! After Override hands him the Planet Cup, she informs him that she wishes to join the Autobots and help save the universe. Optimus Prime happily accepts her into his team.

The Autobots all return to their base on Earth, where Override is given the honor of adding the Planet Cup to the [[Omega Lock]]. As Override holds the cup up to the Lock, it dissolves into particles of light before reforming into the first [[Cyber Planet Key]]. Override inserts the key into the Lock, which begins to pulse with energy and fires a beam of light off into the depths of space. The energy wave is felt by Megatron in the [[fire dimension]], by Starscream out in space, and by [[Scourge (Cybertron)|Scourge]] on [[Jungle Planet (Cybertron)|Jungle Planet]]. The Autobots' computers are activated by the wave, as the Omega Lock feeds them co-ordinates to a location somewhere on Earth. But where do these co-ordinates lead...?
