:He's imitating both, but the note at the end of the episode about making tough choices to protect, would do it again etc... was Bush. Neither Nixon nor McCarthy ever made those kinds of decisions-- even Nixon just inherited Vietnam, he never ran a fist strike. -Derik 13:43, 9 May 2009 (EDT)
::Granted, I missed the first five minutes of the episode, so I only saw the stuff after Sentinel first saw Omega (so if he led some kind of preemptive strike on the Decepticon colonies, I missed it). But honestly, if his behavior in this episode is even meant to be a parallel, one to Bush is...rather flimsy. I mean, I dislike Bush and all, but I still don't remember him ever even trying to imprison political dissidents, no matter how much some said he would - even after they started outright vandalism and destruction of property. Plus, he didn't launch any "first strike" without congressional approval - and a big bit of this episode was Sentinel deciding to mobilize everything on his own. Hell, John Tyler looks like it would fit better, such as how he achieved the presidency and Congress' response to it.KrytenKoro 18:31, 9 May 2009 (EDT)

:::If you ask me Sentinel is channeling the worst aspects of every generic, well meaning, incompetent and near-tyrannical leader of a free-nation. He doesn't seem like he's imitating anyone specific, his actions read more like a generic list of "what not to do" than a deliberate parody. (Undecided) 19:25, 9 May 2009 (EDT)
::::The entire "I make the tough decisions that nobody else can and if I had to do it all again I totally would" bit was in places word-for-word taken from statements made by GWB. The whole "shutting down public spaces because terrorists" is an exaggeration, but the connection is there. Hooper_X 22:19, 9 May 2009 (EDT)
Really, it's a pretty common line for people in charge being criticized - I remember a line very close to it being used in that Bionicle movie that aired quite a few years back. Hell, Bill Dauterive from King of the Hill went through all this behavior when he became the leader of the flood shelter in that one episode. This is just generic "Paranoid, incompetent leader" stuff.
::::I get that "the funny stays", and this may seem unimportant, but honestly, the bit in the article just reads as desperate and pulling at straws politically, and just not at all humorous. I mean, at the very least, please take out the bit implying that Bush tried to accuse or prosecute people for treason for disagreeing with him, 'cause that's just complete and total bullshit. He wasn't one of our most or possibly even average competent presidents, but he wasn't freaking Stalin.KrytenKoro 02:44, 10 May 2009 (EDT)
::: Actually, while Bush didn't imprison political dissidents, there are suspicions that some of the Guantanamo inmates may have been innocent Afghans -- and Iraqis? -- pinched during America's efforts to detain al-Qaida agents, Taliban, and Afghanistan/Iraq insurgents. That being said, there is a great fear that the innocent, once free, will be (understandibly) mad with America. Not unlike Sentinel's wrongful detention of Wasp. I know for a fact that he's imitating Bush when he uses the line "...and I approve of this message." W. First used this line at the end of his 2000 Presidential commercials, and continued to do so in 2004 against Kerry. Other politicos -- Democrat, Republicon, and fictional -- have borrowed this line ever since. -- Cybertronian 141.225.195.120 06:23, 23 May 2009 (EDT).
:::...."I approve of this message" was not a "trend started by Bush", it was a law started in North Carolina and brought to the federal level in 2002, and spearheaded by Senators unrelated to Bush.
:::"Wrongful imprisonment" is hardly, in any way, something new to Bush, and hardly his "thing". And the analogy wouldn't even work, as Wasp was imprisoned under Magnus' reign - you're basically comparing Sentinel to Obama with that analogy, unless you mean Sentinel as the actual one who turned him in - in which case you're comparing him to generals on the ground, in just an awfully twisted analogy. Finally, just on a personal note, I'd like you to check up these "suspicions" by looking at the recidivism rate for released detainees, which rivals that of actual convicted criminals, and I'd think that in eight years we should have some examples of wrongful detainment if it's such a problem.KrytenKoro 08:58, 23 May 2009 (EDT)
Continuity error
Your continuity error isnt one.
Starscream states that Megatron managed to unlock the transformation of Omega supreme and to control the transwarp system, but not the weapons.

A true continuity error lies in the fact that when Omega transwarps at the end of the episode its in robot mode, and then it comes out of transwarp in ship mode. 85.247.43.111

:Yup, all Starscream does is complain about not having control over Omega's weapons, though it's Lugnut who says that Megatron regained control of Omega's transformation and transwarping, not Starscream. Also it looks like the Decepticons took Omega back to Earth at the end of the episode and considering that it took multiple transwarp jumps to reach Cyberton in Transwarped, I don't think it's a continuity error for Omega to be in vehicle mode. Octane is considered vile, even by Decepticon standards. This triple changing bully is a cheat, a liar, and a coward who thinks only of himself and can't be trusted any further than Megatron can throw Devastator. The only reason that this inveterate thief is allowed to continue functioning is that he has an uncanny ability to locate stores of fuel for his fellow Decepticons, and is usually able to spin a fairly convincing excuse for why he was unable to assist them in their latest battle. As annoying and frustrating as he may be to work with, most of his allies will grudgingly admit that he does perform his job as a fuel transport quite well—if he could just get over his annoying habit of making them beg for every drop.
When the Decepticon forces were driven off Cybertron, Octane ended up on the barren planet of Chaar. When Cyclonus told the Decepticons that he was going to bring back Galvatron to lead them, Octane was amongst the cheering crowd. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 1 He then joined the beating-Autobots-to-death crowd when the Decepticons discovered Rodimus Prime and Grimlock spying on them. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 2 Finally, he joined the energon-munching crowd when the Quintessons offered them energy in exchange for exterminating a group of Autobots on Goo. Five Faces of Darkness, Part 3

Octane first came to the Autobots' attention while doing what he did best—thinking about himself. When Trypticon had been defeated by Metroplex and hurled into the ocean, it was Octane who first discovered that the giant Decepticon had not been destroyed, but had actually survived his untimely dunk in the water. What happened next depends on who you believe: Octane tells a tale of great heroism, where he came across the weakened and dying Trypticon and, for the glory of the Decepticon Empire and out of the good of his own heart, nursed the injured giant back to health. The rest of the world prefer to take a less charitable look at his actions, and claim that Octane merely took advantage of Trypticon to secure himself a source of high-quality energon from the Socialist Democratic Federated Republic of Carbombya. Whatever his motivation, it was not long before Octane and Trypticon were trading fuel for protection (even going so far as to assault passing cruise ships and then claiming they had been invading sovereign waters, though Trypticon did genuinely believe that they were invading ships). When that was no longer enough to keep their new landlords happy, Octane quickly came up with a scheme to use Trypticon in stealing all of the world's most important monuments and presenting them as gifts to the nation's leader. That got the attention of Rodimus Prime and the rest of the Autobots, who quickly crashed Octane's party. Worse, Galvatron caught wind of what had been happening, and was not amused with how selfishly Octane had been keeping Trypticon to himself. All the wheeling and dealing in the world failed in the face of Galvatron's rage, and Octane soon found himself ousted from the Decepticons (a fate he shared with his fellow Triple Changer, Blitzwing. Apparently Astrotrain was the only one of them worth keeping). Thief in the Night

Alone and on the run, Octane soon discovered that Galvatron was less than willing to let bygones be bygones. The Decepticon leader had placed a price on Octane's head, and countless bounty hunters and assassins were closing in on him. After a close call on the planet Junk, where he narrowly avoided being blown to pieces, Octane quickly decided to seek asylum with the Autobots. It was here that he met and befriended Sandstorm, a fellow Triple Changer who had recently joined the Autobots after the destruction of his home planet of Paradron. After being attacked by the Combaticons at Autobot City, the pair fled to a space station, where they were assaulted once again by a paid assassin (who was fortunately so incompetent that the two robots barely noticed he was there). Eventually settling on Cybertron, Octane still found no peace, as Cyclonus and the Sweeps tracked him down yet again. Fleeing into the forgotten Decepticon Crypt, Octane stumbled onto the ghost of the most famous Decepticon traitor ever known: Starscream. Quickly realising kindred spirits in each other, the two joined forces in an attempt to let Starscream possess Cyclonus and take over the Decepticons. Needless to say, their coup attempt failed rather miserably, and both traitors found themselves once again fleeing from Galvatron's wrath. Starscream's Ghost
Octane was one of the many Decepticons left on Cybertron after Megatron's departure. Along with several others, Octane worked for the tyrant Straxus in the giant fortress known as Darkmount. He was regarded as one of Cybertron's deadliest killers, with soldiers like Macabre wanting to be seen as his equal, and considered a key target in Operation: Volcano. Target: 2006 When Optimus Prime was accidentally transported back to Cybertron and joined forces with the Wreckers, Octane ran away from them screaming—this is the first sign his rep may be a tad inflated. He reported on the battle to Straxus, greatly over-exaggerating his own role in the battle. Resurrection!

Octane was sent to Earth by Ratbat to investigate the loss of the Carwash of Doom, but when they found the crashed ship they discovered the reason it was lost was because of Scraplets. Infected, he failed to kill Blaster Crater Critters and would end up saved by accident. The Cure!

Aside from providing valuable background appearances and occasional comic relief, Octane is also worth noting for one important thing: during a battle in the Arctic that had been set up by Starscream, Octane managed to kill the Autobot known as Mirage. Of course, Mirage was up and running again shortly thereafter, so it wasn't even a GOOD killing ("deadliest killer" my arse) (and he didn't kill Rippersnapper during the previous battle either, as HE still functioned). Octane's death at the hands of Starscream in Buenos Aires later that day, however, WAS a good killing and lasted for quite some time. Dark Star (issue) Dark Star (issue)

In 2009 of an alternate future, Octane was stationed at the Decepticon Powerbase when the last seven remaining Autobots staged a raid on it. Four million years ago, Tankor was involved in the Decepticon war effort. He was part of a convoy carrying 75 tons of energon for Megatron. In an alternate future where Shockwave discovered the mysterious mineral known as Zel Quartz and went mad by its power, Octane was one of the few Decepticons who survived his destructive rampage. The triple changer was chosen to be a part of the Transformers who were to go back in time in order to find the Zel Quartz before Shockwave did.

After the Autobots had dealt with the Sharkticons, Octane drove up to them in tanker mode, transforming to robot mode when he was in front of them. Stating his need for power, Octane announced that he was going to destroy the Autobots and then take all the energy of the Karzite mine. He then rambled on about how he was going to be leader of the Decepticons once he took down Galvatron, and then told the Autobots that he was going to melt them down. Rodimus Prime warned the greedy Triple Changer that those with endless ambitions were bound to be destroyed by it, but his warnings fell of deaf audio receptors. In the end, Octane was soundly defeated and he announced his surrender. Transforming to jet plane mode, Octane flew off, announcing that he would not forget his defeat. Rodimus just called him a "thin-fueled coward". Later, Octane fought alongside Cyclonus against the Autobots in the Atalstan gem mine. Even with a fellow flier for backup, he still lost.

In the Decepticon side of the story, the shuttle that the Decepticons of the future had been using crash-landed. Octane had managed to find the main Depecticon force of the present once they had found a drill bit they suspected to be the Zel Quartz. Driving up to them in tanker mode while expressing surprise to the fact that they were still alive, Octane transformed to robot form, explaining that he thought he was done for. He expressed his relief that he managed to rendezvous with the Decepticons, stating that the bad side always did win. Galvatron told the triple changer that if Octane fought hard for him, it would be enough. Octane promised that he would and requested to join back with the Decepticons.

Despite whichever side won, Starscream eventually managed to steal the Zel Quartz and flew off into space with it. This caused the Quartz to become completely useless; and with the timeline altered, Octane and all the Decepticons from the future disappeared from the present time. The Transformers (PS2)
:Octane is a Triple Changer, with the ability to transform into two different vehicle modes. His ground vehicle mode is an extended truck cab with fuel-tanker trailer of undetermined model, with much of the detailing in this mode achieved through stickers rather than sculpting. His truck mode has rather strange proportions due to the robot arms sticking out of the sides and the generally broken-up look of the truck. He has three sets of rolling wheels: two purple sets and a set of grey wheels hidden under the middle of the truck. :His aerial mode is based on the two-engined Boeing 767 jet plane. Megatron sends Starscream on a suicide mission.

Synopsis
On the Moon, Megatron and Thrust discuss the necessary tactics needed for the Decepticons to obtain the Requiem Blaster. Megatron agrees to give up the Star Saber for the time, but only on the condition that Thrust's plan is effective, or else Thrust will pay.

The Autobots hide in the jungle, due to an anonymous tip that the Decepticons are in the area. Smokescreen and Red Alert stay behind at the Autobot base, protecting the Space Team Mini-Cons, in case the Decepticons attack. Smokescreen tries to make friends with the Minis, while the kids debate the ethics of using the Mini-Cons in battle. At the same time, the Autobots in the jungle have a similar debate.

Laserbeak detects Starscream in the area. Armed with the Star Saber, Starscream screams and tries to draw out the Autobots with yelling. After Starscream begins to destroy the jungle, Optimus and Jetfire combine to fight back. Spying from a distance, Megatron and his goons wonder where the Requiem Blaster is. Tidal Wave and the Sea Mini-Con Team also fire into the forest to draw out the rest of the Autobots.

The kids and Red Alert find their equipment at the base is malfunctioning, courtesy of Sideways. Sideways also telepathically whispers images of the Requiem Blaster in the Autobot base to Thrust, but the tactician dismisses the message as a hallucination.

In the sky, Starscream strikes at Prime. With a flash of lightning, it suddenly starts to rain all over the forest. After the two warriors land, Optimus tries to reason with Starscream, but Starscream never listens and attacks the Autobot leader. Yet not a single slash connects. Eventually the Star Saber deactivates (possibly damaged from the rain), so Starscream calls for help from the other Decepticons. But to his dismay, Starscream finds all the other Decepticons have abandoned him, leaving Starscream on his own against the six Autobots. Before the six can beat down on the lone Decepticon, Laserbeak brings a message to the team that the Decepticons have invaded the base. The Autobots teleport home, leaving Starscream to cry in the rain.

The Autobots find their base trashed, with the kids in hiding. With help from Sideways, the Decepticons were able to invade the base and bypass the security systems that stopped them before. In another section of the base, Smokescreen tries to protect the Mini-Cons. Megatron blows into the room and tears past Smokescreen, claiming the three Mini-Cons and combining them into the Requiem Blaster. Smokescreen refuses to stay down and takes on Megatron by himself, but Megatron fires his blaster right at Smokescreen.

A torrent of energy pours from the blaster, shoving Smokescreen right through one of the Autobots' walls, his scream stunning the Autobots and humans. Even after such heavy abuse, Smokescreen rises again, a wide hole straight through his own torso, and his pieces all banged out of shape. The Autobot approaches Megatron while the air around him still ripples in the heat of the last blast. The determination of the melting Autobot scares the Decepticons into retreating with their prize.

In Optimus's arms, Smokescreen deactivates. The Autobots salute their fallen comrade, and Optimus screams in sadness.

Autobots and Decepticons land on a mysterious planet where there's an evil version of Optimus.

Synopsis
On the bridge of his ship, Megatron blogs to himself about how happy he is that Optimus is alive again, which confuses his minions.

On top of the hull of the Axalon, Optimus gets reintroduced to his crew, and the Mini-Cons escorting the ship. But the welcoming party is cut short by an electrical space anomaly that suddenly appeared in the ship's path. Hot Shot and Red Alert are pulled into the hole, which fades away.

On a strange alien landscape, Hot Shot and Red Alert reawaken. Red Alert quickly acts responsibly and sends a beacon to the Autobot ship. Next, the two survey the irregular terrain they arrived in. A dark copy of Optimus Prime assaults and chases the two.

Elsewhere, the Decepticons begin their hunt on the planet for their enemies. Their attention is brought to the noise of the Autobots' fight. The three Decepticons transform to assist the black scourge who introduces himself as Nemesis Prime. Using an amazing ability to alter his own shape, Nemesis Prime turns on Megatron, holding the Decepticon leader in the air.

The Decepticons and Autobots both fight against Nemesis Prime, but the battle quickly comes down to Megatron resorting to the use of the Requiem Blaster. The resulting explosion destroys the Prime-doppleganger and damages the Autobots.

In space, the Mini-Cons guide the Autobot ship to the planet with their two missing friends.

Megatron prepares to finish off both Autobots. Starscream interjects, suggesting using the Autobots as captives. Megatron buys Starscream's disguised compassion. Nemesis Prime re-forms from fragments on the ground and battles the Decepticons again, this time with a sword, but the arrival of Mini-Cons takes the menace down. Before they leave again, the Mini-Cons bathe the gathered bulks in energy, repairing them and giving the large Transformers as well as themselves new colors and a boost in power.

The Axalon arrives over the planet, dropping Optimus and Overload onto the surface. A giant Nemesis Prime emerges from the ground for a third attempt at destroying the Transformers. When Optimus and Megatron combine their ordnance, the creature finally dies, revealing a brief transparent image of Sideways before vanishing. With Nemesis Prime destroyed, the planet begins to disintegrate, and so the Autobots and Decepticons return to their ships and continue on their voyage to Cybertron.
Notes
Differences with Micron Legend
*Starscream, upon gaining his super mode, just wonders what is up with the different colours on his mode. He makes no references to Thundercracker.

Animation and/or technical glitches
*Due to its use of stock footage, Tidal Wave's sudden appearance to combine with Megatron depicts blue (ie: Earth) skies behind him rather than the green skies of the strange planet.
*Nemesis Prime cuts Demolishor's Blasters with his Sword, however, when he turns around to confront Starscream, Demolishor's Blasters are back to normal

Continuity errors
* None known.

Real-world references
* None known.

Trivia
*The English version of "Puppet" aired in Canada first. It aired in the United States on November 7, 2003.
*Jetfire only appears in a single wide shot of the bridge that is reused several times throughout the episode. He has no dialogue.
*The intro to the episode has a unique narration that mentions the kids, which flows into a recap of the last episode.
*Nemesis Prime has a trailer in the animation, the toy does not.
*Why couldn't Prime have arrived on the planet seconds before the Mini-Con and received his Powerlinx colors like the rest of the Transformers with Powerlinx colors? Only Stephen Colbert knows, and he's not telling.
*Thrust and Cyclonus also had Powerlinx colorations that were never used in the series.
*Overload's sudden appearance was on the "to-do" list of things to be explained in the Linkage series, but there was never time for it. So all we can infer is that it's a big weapon set that for whatever reason Prime was unable to bring to battle before.
Synopsis
Megatron sends the Stunticons on a mission to find components for an unrevealed purpose, including the world's largest, most perfect ruby. While searching for their components, the actions of the Stunticons catch the attention of the Autobots, who track their movements and their crimes. Breakdown and Wildrider get the first component: laser lenses from a scientist. Dead End and Drag Strip get the second component: an experimental generator from the Army. Motormaster gets the last one: a perfect ruby from a museum.

The Autobots split into teams and manage to be extremely effective at capturing the Stunticons in the middle of their capers. Grapple, Hoist, and Inferno take on Breakdown and Wildrider. Warpath and Tracks take on Dead End and Drag Strip. Finally, Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Blaster, and Spike Witwicky go for Motormaster, who challenges the Autobot leader to a game of “chicken” and ends up in a head-on collision. Spike, Bumblebee, and Blaster peer through the dust to see who survived, and it turns out that Optimus is the clear victor with merely a minor headache, while Motormaster lies in a wreck.

Although all five Stunticons have been captured, the Autobots still don’t know what their plans were for the components they stole for Megatron. Wheeljack guesses that the parts are going to be made into a weapon. (Nooo, really?) Optimus hatches a scheme to disguise Autobots using camouflage paint and penetrate the Decepticon camp disguised as Stunticons: Optimus Prime as Motormaster, Jazz as Dead End, Sideswipe as Breakdown, Mirage as Drag Strip, and Windcharger as Wildrider.

The disguised Autobots infiltrate the Decepticons, although their arrival causes some raised eyebrows because they are driving too "safely". They deliver the stolen components to Megatron without being detected.

Back at the Autobot base, the Stunticons manage to shimmy and shake their way out of their cells, merge into Menasor and overcome their Autobot captors. They then head back to the Decepticon base.

The Constructicons complete Megatron’s new weapon, and he reveals its power, but just then Menasor arrives and declares the Autobots as infiltrators. Using Windcharger’s electric field ability and Mirage’s illusion power, the Autobots merge into their own Menasor. The two giants battle it out, and the Autobots are overcome. Megatron trains the new weapon on the Autobots, but the device blows up in his face after a few scattered shots.

Autobot reinforcements arrive, and the Decepticons flee without their usual promises for revenge. It is revealed that Ironhide had made adjustments to the ruby back at Autobot HQ, which caused the device to explode. The Autobots head for home, victorious.
Notes
Animation or technical glitches
* Ratchet's voice actor in this episode is Wally Burr, not the usual Don Messick, and it shows. Burr uses the same generic deep voice he used for Thundercracker in "War Dawn" and Jazz in "Kremzeek!".

* As a result of animation cels being stacked incorrectly, Ratchet appears teeny-tiny in the front of a crowd shot, making Ironhide look colossal by comparison. The tiny Ratchet should, of course, be (barely visible) at the back of the crowd.
* When approaching the crater, Jazz appears to be driving above and not under rocks.
* When the real Menasor takes off to warn Megatron, he has an Autobot insignia.
* When the Autobots begin firing on Menasor, his face is entirely black.
* Just before Megatron fires the laser, Windcharger is miscoloured in green and grey.
* When Megatron aims the laser, most of his body is white.

Continuity errors
* The Autobots account for their ability to merge (Windcharger's magnetic field) and for the fake Menasor's face (Mirage's hologram). But where do they get working hands for their fake Menasor?

* Although both are similar in size, Motormaster's transforming method greatly differs from Optimus Prime's transforming method, yet during the episode, after donning the disguise, Optimus transforms exactly like Motormaster does.

* After the Stunticons were captured, Breakdown stated that their vehicular modes are busted, yet after Wildrider frees the Stunticons, they all start driving out of their cells.

* The Stunticons were still heavily damaged and not repaired after being captured and placed in the cells, yet they were able to not only form Menasor and take on several Autobots at the Ark, as well as being able to fly, and battle the 5 Autobots disguised at Stunticons easily with near invulnerability?

* the 5 Autobots disguised as Stunticons formed Menasor using Windchargers magnetic field, But if the field was that strong, why didnt the real Menasor get affected by the magnetic field after the fake one punched him?

Sci-Fi Channel edits
* In the mid-1990s, many G1 episodes were aired on the Network. To allow expanded advertising time, they were edited down, cutting "unnecessary" dialog and scenes out. Some of the "unnecessary" dialog cut from this episode included parts of Grapple and Inferno's lines, resulting in them collectively uttering "Time to add firobably hate myself in the morning, but..."

Continuity notes
* Gadgets and powers:
** Soundwave can fly in his tape deck mode! When the Decepticons retreat, he transforms and then flies off behind Starscream. It is tempting to assume that the animators took a script direction like "the Decepticons transform and fly off in retreat" a bit too literally.
** Mirage can project a hologram of Menasor's face. This runs contrary to his usual schtick, which is invisibility. His original bio described him as being able to create "the illusion of a different appearance" for up to six minutes, but this is the only time it pops up in the cartoon (presumably because holograms were Hound's gimmick... though per the bio, Hound's great power is to create maps, and simple images on rare occasions.)

* Megatron's line "Suggestion noted...AND IGNORED!" when Soundwave warns him would be revisited during the Beast Wars episode "Nemesis Part 2" when his namesake utters those exact sentiments to Dinobot II on board the Nemesis.

*Two scenes deleted from this episode feature the individual Stunticons talking with each other while combined as Menasor, only for Menasor himself to then silence all of his components, because their chatter is confusing him!

Trivia
* Probably a coincidence or not, Classics Menasor is a redeco from Legends of Cybertron Optimus Prime, while Universe Drag Strip is made from Classics Mirage redeco. At one point there was intended to be a Binaltech Wildrider created from Alternators Windcharger (or rather, his Binaltech counterpart), but that never eventuated. IDW Publishing used Universe Sideswipe as a basis for a new version of Breakdown, and the toy's mold was used for the 2010 G2 Breakdown! We bet Dead End feels really miserable about being left out, but then, that's Dead End fer ya.
** Oh wait a minute...

* When Warpath thumbs up his teammates, he does not have the blue visor in his eyes, oddly enough, we can see what's inside the visor

* Gadgets and powers:
