On the day before Fig was scheduled to go home on leave from [[Qatar]], he and the rest of the men under the command of Captain [[William Lennox]] were returning to [[United States of America|U.S.]] [[SOCCENT Forward Operations Base]] on board two [[CV-22 Ospreys]] after a mission. Discussing what they wanted to do when they got home, Fig at first spoke in Spanish, then switched the English due to the amused complaints of the other soldiers. He cited that he was proud of his heritage and it was his right to speak his native language, then continued with his opinion that alligator meat was the most succulent there is.

As night fell, the base was suddenly under siege by an [[Blackout (Movie)|unidentified MH-53 Pave Low]] that turned into some sort of walking battle platform. Fellow soldier Sergeant [[Robert Epps|Epps]] was almost crushed by the machine as he tried to escape. Epps recorded images of the attacker when Fig noticed it had activated some sort of weapon from its chest and quickly fired a sabot from his grenade launcher, damaging the 'weapon' under its armour and allowing himself, Lennox, [[Sergeant Donnelly]], Epps, local boy [[Mahfous]] and the remainder of the soldiers in their unit to escape as SOCCENT was destroyed.

The next day, the survivors discussed the previous night's attack. Fig said that his mother had a gift of precognition, and it was passed to him. He had a feeling that it wasn't over. Later, as they reached the outskirts of Mahfous' village, a billboard tower suddenly came crashing down. Donnelly turned to ask what the heck had happened, and Fig replied in Spanish, prompting Donnelly to tell him to speak in English.

Suddenly, they were under attack from a [[Scorponok (Movie)|strange metal scorpion]] that came out of the sand, then dived under it again. As Fig and Donnelly searched for signs of the attacker, it suddenly came up behind the latter and impaled Donnelly in the chest, killing him. The rest of the men ran for the relative cover of the village and set up a defensive perimeter as Lennox attempted to call for air cover from [[the Pentagon]]. Fig was providing suppression fire when one of the metal scorpion's missiles exploded behind the soldier, seriously injuring him.

When a Transformer is "born," a single spark departs the Allspark and suffuses itself into the new Transformer body, giving it true life and soul. When the Transformer then reaches the end of its life, the spark departs its body and returns to the Allspark; all the knowledge that the Transformer acquired and all of its life experiences are contained with the spark, and they are added to the totality that is the Allspark.

Applying the existance of the Allspark retroactively to previous continuities (as the Primus-singularity [[retcon]] allows. See his page for details on that) leads to a new interpretation of some existing artifacts.

*Most prominently there are the [[Matrix of Leadership]] and the Creation Matrix, the legendary talismans carried by Autobot leaders in the Generation 1 cartoon and Marvel Comic respectively. The abilities of both these artifacts can be glossed as a result of their functioning as connections to the Allspark dimension.

*Secondly, there is the mega-computer [[Vector Sigma]], which, like the Matrix, endows new Transformers with life. In the Beast Era the most common method of communication with the Allspark via Vector Sigma involves the use of its [[shell program]], the [[Oracle (G1)|Oracle]], which permits a "receptive spark" to commune directly with the collective intelligence of the Allspark. At [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Optimus Prime]]'s orders, [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] and a group of Autobots secretly transported the All spark to [[Tyger Pax]], only to be pursued by the Decepticons. Megatron himself took a personal hand in the torture of Bumblebee, attempting to force him to reveal the All Spark's location, but his efforts went in vain, and the All Spark was blasted into space to put it beyond Megatron's reach. In response, Megatron crushed Bumblebee's voice box and began to follow the All Spark to Earth.

The All Spark was found in 1913, 16 years after the [[N.B.E.]]-01 "[[Megatron (Movie)|Iceman]]" was found. The [[Cybertronian languages|glyphs]] on the cube were similar to the ones on the Iceman, indicating a link between the two. In order to hide the cube's energy signature from other humans and, potentially, from other N.B.E.s, the [[President of the United States|President]] had the [[Hoover Dam]] built around it. The Iceman was also moved to the dam for further study. It was eventually determined that the cube emitted a type of radiation which could [[Real Gear Robot|bring mechanical devices to life]].

Years later, when Megatron eventually came back online due to the intervention of his soldiers, [[Samuel James Witwicky|Sam Witwicky]] convinced Sector Seven (with the help of Captain [[William Lennox]]'s men) to release Bumblebee, explaining he could help. Bumblebee interacted with the cube and prompted it to collapse from an enormous monolith into a object less than half a meter across, and accordingly lesser in mass as well as volume. Bumblebee and a military escort, soon joined by the [[Autobot]]s, took the Cube to [[Mission City]], where Sam ran through the city avoiding the Decepticons. During the battle between Optimus Prime and Megatron, the Autobot leader told Sam to merge the Cube with his [[spark]]. However, Sam instead merged it with Megatron's spark, destroying both Megatron and the All Spark. Gazing at his dead brother for one last time, Optimus fished a fragment of the All Spark out of Megatron's chest.

Without a means to restore their homeworld, the Autobots elected to remain on Earth, and Prime sent a message to inform the surviving Autobots of their new found home.

The Decepticon [[Emperor of Destruction]], he bears a bitter grudge against [[Autobot]] [[Supreme Commander]], [[Star Saber (G1)|Star Saber]]. He prefers to lead his warriors from a distance, though engages in battle when necessary. Much like a Bond villain, he'll gladly tell you his plan before leaving you unsupervised in a delayed-result death trap. That said, he is ferociously powerful, and has come disturbingly close to victory on several occasions. He even pulled the trigger in an attack that would have killed a helpless Star Saber, only to find he'd transfered too much energy to his fortress and the damn gun didn't work. The guns designer was later found impaled on a church spire.

He commands the [[Decepticon Space City]]. Deathsaurus is a [[Breastforce]] warrior, meaning he has two detachable breastplates which can transform into the [[Tigerbreast]] and [[Eaglebreast]], respectively.

Years ago, striving to become the Decepticons' new [[Emperor of Destruction]], Deathsaurus created a gigantic battle fortress capable of destroying planets, but an attack by the young [[Autobot]] commander [[Star Saber (G1)|Star Saber]] saw the fortress de-powered and trapped within a region of space known as the [[Dark Nebula]]. This began the enmity between Star Saber and Deathsaurus, and as both combatants rose through the ranks of their respective armies, Deathsaurus vowed to eventually liberate his fortress and use it to destroy Star Saber.

After the conclusion of the [[Masterforce|Masterforce war]] on Earth, Deathsaurus set his sights on the planet's vast energy sources, and, from his command post on the Decepticons' starcraft the [[Thunder Arrow]], he directed his troops, the [[Breastforce]] and [[Dinoforce]] in attacks on the planet. Deathsaurus rarely dirtied his own hands, entering battle only rarely, and only when there was a chance that he could confront Star Saber directly, such as there was when he led the Breastforce in raiding the electical energy of American subway systems. This led him to be the object of great contempt from Breastforce sub-leader [[Leozack]], who schemed against Deathsaurus, but systematically failed to succeed in his numerous ploys, either as a result of his own incompetence or the counter-scheming of his subordinate, [[Hellbat]], who sought to overthrow both him and Deathsaurus. Deathsaurus was no fool, however, and remained perpetually aware of Leozack's plans - when the time came, he thrashed the Breastforcer in combat and forced him to swear utter loyalty to him.

While Star Saber was on the planet [[Micro]], Deathsaurus returned to the Dark Nebula to investigate the possibility of reactivating his fortress; he did not have enough energy, but was at least able to confirm that the fortress was in functional order and could be reactivated when the time came. Unfortunately for him, having expended what energy he had to confirm this, he was unable to finish Star Saber when he engaged him in battle in space on the return trip. Later, back on Earth, Deathsaurus lured Star Saber into a trap in the desert, where he attacked with the power of the Living Metal-Destroying Cannon.

The weapon almost finished Star Saber off until [[Ginrai|God Ginrai]] intervened and was left at death's door instead, but when he was reconstructed as [[Victory Leo]] and combined with Star Saber to form [[Victory Saber]], they were able to thwart Deathsaurus's plan to bombard Earth with asteroids.

Discovering that the sunken continent of [[Atlantis]] contained enough raw energy to re-energise his fortress, Deathsaurus ransacked the ancient ruins and abandoned the Dinosaur Force to their fate as the Thunder Arrow shot off into space to fulfil his evil plan. With the fortress active and headed directly for Earth, even Victory Saber could not stand up to its power, but a resentful Dinosaur Force supplied information on the fortress's weak spot to Star Saber's adopted human son, [[Jan]], who used his own [[Illumina II|personal mech]] to enter the fortress and strike and this vulnerability. As he did so, Deathsaurus and Star Saber engaged in a vicious battle, during which Deathsaurus lost an eye, and was eventually stopped when Star Saber broke his sword off in the villain's chest. Gushing fuel and fluid, Deathsaurus vowed to have the last laugh as he set the crippled fortress on a collision course with Earth, and blew himself out an airlock, vowing to return again and again. But, as his body drifted off into space, no sign of life was visible from the conquered emperor. Victory Saber subsequently destroyed the fortress, but Deathsaurus was not heard from again.

As a parallel to Star Saber's adoption of [[Jan Minakaze|Jan]], Deathsaurus had a "son" of his own, a human boy named [[Solon]]. Solon's mother was killed during a Decepticon attack on Earth, and who Deathsaurus "adopted", turning him into a cyborg and raising him to believe that he was his son. Solon had frequent clashes with Jan, whose school he began attending, which often degenerated into "my dad can beat up your dad"-style arguments as their "fathers" battled. At one point, Deathsaurus even attempted to bribe Jan into joining the Decepticons with toys, games, candy and cash.

Solon had his own battle armour and often rode Deathsaurus's Breastars as steeds, but when Victory Leo and Star Saber merged into Victory Saber, Deathsaurus sought a way to increase his own power in a similar fashion and crafted a Transformer-sized mech for Solon named [[King Solon]], with which he was able to combine, forming [[King Zaras]]. However, in the midst of this battle, Solon discovered the truth about his mother, and his distraction allowed Victory Saber to destroy the King Solon mecha. Deathsaurus fled, abandoning Solon, who accepted his earthly heritage and joined the Autobots.

During the final battle, as Deathsaurus's fortress attacks the Earth, it is he who battles Star Saber in space ''(unlike the animated series, in which Liokaiser takes this role)''. Leozack, then, is able to take his treachery to the ultimate extreme by turning the fortress's power on Deathsaurus, and Deathsaurus cripples the craft with his cannon as Star Saber takes Leozack down. Then, the wounded Deathsaurus reveals the true reason he has quested to liberate the fortress from the Dark Nebula - it is home to the Decepticons' families and civilians. When [[Samuel James Witwicky|Sam Witwicky]] askes [[Reggie Simmons|Agent Simmons]] to free [[Bumblebee (Movie)|a good robot]], Simmons refuses to listen, until Lennox gets him to listen—by putting a gun to his chest, telling Simmons he and his men don't take orders from people who don't exist. Lennox and his men subsequently escort Sam and the car to [[Mission City]], meeting [[Autobot|other good robot]]s enroute.

Lennox totally kills Blackout dead by the time honored method of:

* Getting on a motorcycle
* Jumping off the motorcycle as it slams into the enemy
* Sliding under his opponent.
* Shooting them in the crotch with sabot rounds until they are dead.
* Going "woo-hoo", "yee-ha", or another exclamation of success.

His final action in the battle of Mission City was to shoot a sabot round in the chest of Megatron, offering an opening to Sam to ram the Allspark in his chest, thus allowing the victory.

After the deaths of the [[Decepticon]]s, [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]] gave him a ride home, where he was reunited with his wife and met his newborn daughter.

So, like I said, this is just to kick around a movie character page until we figure out how we're going to organize everything. There's a few areas I think need adressing.

*First is the disambiguation description. Currently I have it as (Movie) but do we want to change it? I think we should, in at least because we actually have another Transformers movie floating around. Additionally, while the movie is the main focus, there is other content within the canon that is non-movie.

*Continuity Family description. While "Transformers (2007)" is probably the best we have, it'll kind of sound a bit weird if we ever get a further stuff in this unverse at a later date. (Movie) would also a bad term IMO. Not sure if there's a better option though.

*Fiction Descriptions. There's at least three key areas of fiction that will be relevant (four, perhaps, if the IDW movie adaptation has stuff that isn't in the movie). The first is the prequel comic. IDW Prequel Comic would be sufficant?
The second is the Prequel novel, which is listed on amazon [http://www.amazon.com/Transformers-Ghosts-Yesterday-Ballantine-Books/dp/0345497988/sr=1-1/qid=1170093193/ref=sr_1_1/102-1005451-0556957?ie=UTF8&s=books 1] here. It's labeled as just "Transformers: Ghosts of Yesterday" but I'm not sure if we should point out that it is also a prequel to the movie.
The third, of course, is the film.

I noticed Bumblebee's identified as a 1967 Camaro. Is this model year stated anywhere officially? He looks more like a second-generation body style, which ran from 1970 to '81.

I guess this is as good a place as any to say (argue?) that the Camaro can concievably still fit with Bumblebee's original "economic" character traits. If he is indeed a second-gen, that seems to be the model that ran during the beginnings of the 1980s fuel crisis, and thus lost power in favor of economy (implied from the Camaro's Wiki entry.) The upcoming fifth-generation has at least one modern fuel-saving technology, cylinder-cutoff.

In the ''Generation 1'' cartoon this source was Vector Sigma; in the Marvel comics it was the Creation Matrix, which housed the essence of [[Primus]], the Transformers' creator-god. In the [[Beast Era]] cartoons, sparks arrived from the [[Allspark]], perhaps through Vector Sigma. (In many continuities each Transformers' life-force was a fragment of Primus' own.) The [[Movie (continuity)|live action movie]] continuities function with the Allspark being the source of infusion as well, though in that case living and sentient are not quite the same thing (see: [[Real Gear Robot]]).

In the [[Young Corgi]] book [[Desert of Danger]] Hot Rod refers to his creation after the Ark left Cybertron as when he was "[http://www.physics.ohio-state.edu/~sstoneb/tf/books/corgi-adv/desert/22.html matrixed]". How exactly this would have happened if Optimus Prime was aboard the Ark with the Matrix at the time is unknown, but one option might be the [[Matrix Flame]].

The Matrix flame was an artifact which allowed Transformers on Cybertron to access the power of the Matrix even when it was no longer on Cybertron. Literally a flame, it was used to breath life in the super warrior [[Ultra Magnus (G1)|Ultra Magnus]] in the UK comics. The flame was somehow linked to the Matrix, and when the Matrix was transported to another dimension during Target: 2006 the flame went out, forcing the Autobots on Cybertron to investigate.

The [[Dreamwave]] [[More than Meets the Eye Guide]] provides yet another method of infusion. According to the guide, in Dreamwave continuity Transformers generally begin life as a skeletal mass of partially formed circuits: a [[Protoform]]. These are kept in stasis pods filled with nuturing nutrient gell. They can be built to specific specifications or be fairly general allowing the robot to form naturally upon introduction of a spark. Sparks, and hence life, usually come from the Matrix, *BUT* if the Matrix is absent life can be granted by attuning the protoform to an energy wavelength similar to the Matrix and then applying a concentrated burst of energon. This alternative is rarely used as it is extremely resource consumptive, requiring restrictively high amounts of energon.

== Resurrection ==

Though not quite the same as reproduction, a copy of the mind or essence of a previously living Transformer may be introduced into a new body and through some vague process return that Transformer to life. This occurred when [[Starscream]] created the [[Combaticon]]s in the G1 cartoon, and in the comic when Prime used copies of the minds of existing Cybertronians to create the second series Autobot cars on [[Earth]]. Another example from the comic occurs when Optimus Prime himself is returned to life merely by inputting a human's [[floppy disk]] copy of his mind into a new body.

In his ending to the [[Beast Wars: Transmetal]] video game [[Ravage]] uses "a prototype cloning device, based on transreplication technology" to clone the deactivated G1 Decepticons on the Ark into new protoform bodies thus reviving them without altering the timeline (and erasing himself) by effectively doubling each robot.

This is included as a means of reproduction because it seems likely from the dialogue that the Autobot cars created via copied minds by Prime on Earth still existed on Cybertron when he left, meaning that if they survived the intediate 4 million years, two of each of these individuals now existed.

In the [[Unicron Trilogy]] story "[[Linkage (comic)|Linkage]]", [[Redline]] and [[Falcia]] combine energy from their [[spark frame]]s in order to create a new body for the mind/soul of [[Twirl]] to inhabit after her [[Mini-Con storage panel]] was destroyed in battle. This led to an interesting relationship between Twirl and Falcia (see "Familial relationships" below).

== Budding ==

The [[Generation 2 (Marvel comic)|''Transformers: Generation 2'' comic]] introduced the concept of asexual "budding." Bubbles and lesions of apparently liquid metal formed on a robot's chest accompanied by energy discharge, the process grew more intense until the point where a large mass of liquid-metal burst free from the chest and slowly formed, first into a [[protoform]]-like blank figure, and then solidified into a full Transformer. Illustrations suggest that this was something of a communal event, with others surrounding the budding robot in a circle.

It was revealed that (in the Marvel continuity at least) early Transformers reproduced this way until they reached the population level Primus desired. At this turning point the practice stopped and all memory of it was erased. When the [[Cybertronian Empire]] (possibly under influence of the [[Leige Maximo]]) rediscovered and revived the process sometime during the 4 million years after the [[Ark]]'s loss, the successive generations of robots produced were increasingly less sentient and emotional (as Primus's lifeforce was apparently spred thinner and thinner between them) and the lifeform called [[Swarm|The Swarm]] was created as a byproduct.

It is established here that Transformers do have genetic material (the Transformer equivalent of DNA) within their cellular structures (yes, they also apparently have celular structures, who knew). This genetic material is passed down from "parent" to "child" through budding. Its make-up is seen in the picture at right (apparantly its design is not taught in the Transformer equivalent of High School Biology, as Megatron does not recognize what he's looking at until Perceptor explains). This genetic material and basic Transformer celular structure is also passed to The Swarm.

The other notable fact is that Transformers who have undergone the budding process retain some sort of primal link to their offspring, thus even though they are galaxies apart the G1 Decepticon [[Onslaught]] doubles over in pain when his decendent [[Mindset]] is destroyed, and the Leige Maximo says he would know if his decendent, Megatron, were to die.

== Sexual reproduction ??? ==

Despite most continuities having male and female genders (gender being a mental and social classification as opposed to "sexes", a physical distinction) and a definite, strong history of romance existing between these genders, there is little canonical evidence for Transformers reproducing sexually. (Though admittedly there isn't a lot of direct evidence for [[human]]s reproducing sexually in most Transformers media, which is, after all, aimed towards kids.)

In the ''Generation 1'' cartoon the male Transformer - [[Female Transformers]] romance could perhaps be explained as an artifact of [[Quintesson]] mental programming very closely echoing the organic life forms the Transformers were built to serve.

The best case for sexual reproduction in the species could probably be made from ''[[Beast Wars (cartoon)|Beast Wars]]'', where [[Rattrap]] makes numerous off-color remarks throughout the series, especially directed at [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt]] and [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]]. These comments strongly hint at something sex-like among Transformers, though it could of course be merely recreational rather than reproductive.

[[Airazor]] and [[Tigatron]]'s fusion into [[Tigerhawk]] durring Beast Wars could perhaps be seen as example of sex-like reproduction (two beings comming together and creating a new being that is a recombination of their components) Though it could also just be glossed as an extension of the usual Combiner-team type merger.

It is unknown what effect the ''[[Beast Machines (cartoon)|Beast Machines]]'' [[reformatting]] of Transformers into [[technorganic]] beings that are equal part organic life and mechanical to a cellular level has on their reproductive options. It is concievable but unexplored whether this new form of Transformer life could reproduce sexually.

It should be noted that during a dream-like vision, Blackarachnia and Silverbolt met in an ethereal state, and the two appeared to "merge" their sparks, which may be as close to sexual intercourse as Transformers get (perhaps a more spiritual act than physical).

== Familial relationships ==

One confusing aspect of this apparent lack of sexual reproduction is the canonical use of genealogical terminology to describe certain relationships. The most common of these is when two transformers regard each other as siblings: "brothers" (e.g. G1 [[Sideswipe]] and [[Sunstreaker]], or RID's [[Optimus Prime (RID)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Ultra Magnus (RID)|Ultra Magnus]]) or "sisters" ([[Roulette]] and [[Shadow Striker]]).

Again, the Dreamwave More than Meets the Eye Guide provides a partial possible answer. According to the guide when a spark naturally splits as it's being introduced to a protoform, it creates two robots who are "Brothers" such as Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. When such a spark division is artificially induced, the less balanced and self-reliant pair created are refered to as "Clones." (This definition of "Brother" may or may not apply to RID Prime and Magnus, whose brotherhood was said to result from the special circumstance of having been created simultaneously by Alpha Trion).

However, the "[[Beast Era]]" widened the issue of reproduction with Rattrap referring to his "great-aunt" [[Arcee]] and in general the practice of Maximals and Predacons referring to the Autobots and Decepticons as their respective "ancestors", as well as themselves as being their "descendents", implying a direct genetic (for want of a better term) lineage. Various sources of debatable canonicity suggest that [[Optimus Primal]] is specifically descended from [[Optimus Prime]], usually through the phrase "his ancestor Optimus Prime".
In the absence of sexual reproduction, the use and meaning of these genealogical references is difficult to explain. One possible explanation might be a situation such as when [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]] is brought to life in Beast Wars. Her [[spark]] and [[protoform]] is heavily damaged, and Cheetor allows his spare parts while [[Rhinox]] guides the proceedure. To compare to humans, this is something like assisting with childbirth and donating blood or organs. It is unlikely that this happened enough to cause 'descendants' as they are described, however.

Other family designations exist as well. [[Wheelie]] has parents that were lost in his crash on [[Quintessa]] in some background material. The aforementioned Mini-Con Twirl very specifically calls Falcia her "mother" (which Falcia ''hates'') and seems to treat Redline like a father, since the two's spark frame energy went into constructing her physical form. In the Armada cartoon, [[Side Swipe (Armada)|Side Swipe]] refers to [[Hot Shot (Armada)|Hot Shot]] as his brother after Hot Shot saves his life, indicating at least an understanding of the concept. The [[Unicron Trilogy]] universe has also used the term "cousin" for certain Transformers on occasion.

In Japan, there was this guy named Fire Convoy who had a bunch of dudes who travelled from another dimension to fight Predacons who travelled from another dimension on Earth in 2000, while G1 was going on elsewhere. Over here, it was another universe's Optimus Prime, no time travel or dimension hopping involved. The Decepticons didn't exist until Predacon Megatron built some. It wasn't just a direct translation, like Super Link and Energon were. Two clusters of bombs at the north and south poles were simultaneously detonated, beginning a chain reaction that started to tear the planet apart, allowing Scorponok and the Decepticons to escape while the Autobots were consumed by the inferno. Fortress Maximus, however, was able to absorb some of the energy released in the early stages of the conflagration and escaped as Mars exploded.

The destruction of Mars thankfully had minimal impact on the other planets of the solar system, but its absence did disrupt the gravimetric balance of [[space bridge]] travel, destabilizing it.

The massive '''Blackout''' has been described as the hound of [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]]. In better days he was always to be found looming powerful and silent behind his leader's right shoulder. When given a target he hunts it down with fierce determination. Blackout is not happy with the progress [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] is making towards finding the missing Decepticon leader. He suspects (quite rightly) that Starscream would prefer Megatron to stay lost. Blackout is openly mutinous and will challenge Starscream's leadership at any opportunity, not for his own sake, but to better serve his ultimate goal of finding his lost master. Blackout has a sneaky side and uses his symbiotic companion [[Scorponok (Movie)|Scorponok]]'s small size to great advantage.

Blackout is a helicopter and the biggest Decepticon. After a short presumed visit to [[Mars]] where he encountered a too silly vehicule to take the form of it, it is indicated that he came by his alternate mode by shooting down a chopper with the tail designation '4500X' in Afghanistan three months before the events of the story. He can use his helicopter blades as a rotating weapon and has a complicated sensor in his chest. Seeing Megatron battling [[Optimus Prime (Movie)|Prime]], Blackout went to help his lord, but soldiers—including survivors of the Qatar base attack—attempted to stop him. Using an abandoned motorcycle, [[William Lennox|Captain Lennox]] managed to fire a round into his crotch, which somehow fed back into his [[Spark]]. He doesn't appreciate being shot in the crotch.

Or presumably wouldn't have, had he survived.

===Transformers The Game (console)===
Blackout and Scorponok were sent to the [[SOCCENT base]] in [[Qatar]] to destroy the human military installation there and download information from the military servers on the location of the [[AllSpark]]. The pair were successful, though Blackout's escape was briefly interrupted by the arrival of a squad of human jet fighters. After blasting them to tiny bits, he made good his escape.

Blackout joined [[Starscream (Movie)|Starscream]] at [[Hoover Dam]], and fought off a squad of [[Swindle (Movie)|Autobot sports car drones]] that were defending the installation. He then followed the newly-revived [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]] to [[Mission City]], where he got engaged in a final showdown with [[Ironhide (Movie)|Ironhide]], who certainly gave the massive Decepticon a run for his money. The huge number of Autobot drones backing Ironhide up didn't make things any easier.

: Blackout transforms into a reasonably accurate [[wikipedia:MH-53|Sikorsky MH-53 Pave Low heavy-lift helicopter]], though his blue color scheme is quite inaccurate compared to the actual helicopter used in the movie and similar ones in USAF service. An aft 'cage' compartment can be opened to release a small PVC figurine of his partner, [[Scorponok (Movie)|Scorponok]]. A button on the end of his tail can be pressed in a geared action to rotate his rotor blades, but this feature really comes into play when the user attaches the Deluxe-class Scorponok figure to the bottom of Blackout's helicopter mode via two pegs. A geared shaft linked to the rotor mechanism connects to a geared peg on Scorponok's back. Thus, pressing the button on Blackout's tail not only rotates his blades, but also rotates Scorponok's pincers. This gimmick is actually easier to activate by rotating the geared wheel on Scorponok's undercarriage.

: During transformation, Blackout's [[Automorph]]ing gimmick is activated when the user swings down his legs, which in turn flips the grey chest section his head is mounted upon up and into position. Another, less impressive automorph is in his legs. If you pull on his knee, his shin pops out.

: In robot mode, Blackout is not quite as accurate to his CGI design as some of the other Movie toys are. His overall design and proportions are generally described as being closer to traditional Transformers than the aesthetics of the Movie robots. Yet, as expected with most of the movie toys he features excellent articulation, with multi-ratcheting joints in his shoulders, elbows, hips and knees. The entire rotor assembly on his back can be removed and converted into a gigantic fan, to ''vaguely'' represent the hand-held fan weapon he wields in the movie (also seen on the ''Titanium'' figurine). He's also much smaller than most Voyager class figures, barely larger than a Deluxe figure (particularly Barricade, only a head taller).

: There are some significant flaws in Blackout's design. Firstly, the pegs that hold his legs/helcopter fuselage to the rotor/tail assembly do not provide enough friction to withstand the weight of the legs themselves, causing them to detach from the body of the helicopter and droop down. Secondly, the gears in his head/chest's Automorphing gimmick can misalign themselves during usage and transformation back in to vehicle mode, enough so that the cockpit chest/head section refuses to align with the cockpit halves.

Though clearly this changed, his portrayal in the ''Ghosts of Yesterday'' novel is rather Soundwave-esque. This portrayal is also somewhat reflected in the official bio as Blackout is described as "his leader's hound". Blackout's later working name, "Incinerator", is also accounted for in the bio, noting how Blackout will "fill the air with fire and burn the land clear to take his revenge."
