Throughout the various Transformers canon, there have been several instances of Transformers with humanistic traits and having very human actions that possibly conflict with their status as mechanical robots. Many of these instances can be dismissed as stylistic choices by the artists or as gags not to be taken seriously.

* In the UK comic, the [[Wrecker|Wreckers]] frequent a "bar" on Cybertron called [[Maccadam's Old Oil House]], where they consume high-grade energon, presumably for the purposes of getting intoxicated. [[Dreadwind (G1)|Dreadwind]] and [[Darkwing]] paid a visit to this establishment in a later story, and got so hammered that they didn't even notice [[Quickswitch]] fighting with some [[Mecannibals]].

Although Transformers come in all shapes and sizes anyway, some characters have particularly round appearances that suggest something equivalent to human obesity.

* [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] is virtually as wide as he is tall and is depicted as extremely round, with very short, stubby legs. It gives him more than a passing resemblance to a heavily obese person, or at best one of those huge, flabby, off-season wrestlers.
* Much the same could be said of [[Omega Supreme (G1)|Omega Supreme]]. Being big-chassied is no excuse to let yourself go.
* [[Ratchet (Animated)|''Animated'' Ratchet]] has a prominent gut that resembles a human paunch. Although ordinarily this might be considered merely a feature of his transformation scheme (ala [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]]), he is specifically designed to be a crotchety "old man" character, and in flashback sequences to his younger days in the Great War, he notably ''lacks'' said paunch.
* [[Gnaw]]. Well, all the [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticons]], really, but seriously. It's kind of comically appropriate that the robots which do absolutely nothing but hang out and eat stuff all day are so roly poly.

There are several instances of female transformers whose bodies are designed with the explicit similarity to stereotypical human females. While this generally includes a more slender build (particularly a narrow waist) it also sometimes includes other characteristics which suggest a degree of gender dimorphism similar to organic races, although the purpose of this is unclear.

Note however that there are [[Strika (BM)|certainly]] some [[Glyph (G1)|exceptions]] to [[Road Rage|this]].

Some female Transformers, such as [[Arcee (G1)|Arcee]] and [[Elita One]] (not to mention the ''other'' [[Arcee (Animated)|Arcee]] and [[Blackarachnia (Animated)|Elita-1]]) have a protruding chest area that bears no apparent relation to their altmode [[kibble]], which bears some vague resemblance to clothed human breasts, or a "monoboob" if you will. Some females even have two separate and even more distinctly rounded breast-like protuberances, particularly in their fictional depictions. [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]], [[Antagony]] and [[Beta]] all fall into this category. One, [[Thunderblast (Decepticon)| Thunderblast]], even has visible nipples. Another common feature to denote gender in some female Transfomers (mostly only in the fiction) will be possessing distinctly fuller, plumper lips than is standard, such as Blackarachnia in ''Beast Wars''. Sometimes, however, they will additionally have red or otherwise different/darker colouration to their lips, with an evident similarity to human lipstick. Such paint-mouthed hussybots include Blackarachnia in ''Beast Machines'', her [[Blackarachnia (Animated)|''Animated'' cousin]], and most [[Female Autobots|G1 Female Autobots]].

===Sexuality===
One of the most controversial aspects of Transformers is the idea of sexuality. While it is established in most continuities that Transformers do not reproduce sexually, most continuities nonetheless have distinctive male and [[Female Transformers|female characters]] (with the notable exception of the G1 comic, which explicitly states there is no sexual distinction).

The G1 cartoon brought the first official female Autobots into the canon, including [[Elita One]] and [[Arcee (G1)|Arcee]]. The characters are noticeably more feminine in design and have clearly defined romantic relationships with male Autobots.

The issue becomes more complicated in ''Beast Wars'', where the sexuality line is clearly defined ([[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] has a particularly well defined female figure, including what appears to be an ample bosom). It is hinted on occasion that the robots may engage in activities resembling human sex acts. Rattrap slyly makes a double entendre to [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]] regarding his suspected kinky activities with Predacon Blackarachnia, and later makes a comment about going to what sounds like a Cybertonian version of a strip club. In the Metals dub, Rattrap, thinking himself about to be stabbed by Dinobot, asked him to "be gentle, because I've heard the first time can hurt."

In the original Japanese version of ''Energon'', [[Tidal Wave|Mirage]] displays romantic interest in [[Megatron (Armada)|Galvatron]], causing his comrades to regard him with minor confusion. The ''Energon'' dub seemed to do its best to skirt around this issue, with Mirage's exclamations either being about different things entirely or simple cheering on of his leader - but they couldn't do anything about the hands-clasped-beside-his-head-while-doe-eyed expressions, or the one time that he pirouetted and struck a pose while surrounded by a giant glowing pink heart. Although Transformers come in all shapes and sizes anyway, some characters have particularly round appearances that suggest something equivalent to human obesity.

* [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] is virtually as wide as he is tall and is depicted as extremely round, with very short, stubby legs. It gives him more than a passing resemblance to a heavily obese person, or at best one of those huge, flabby, off-season wrestlers.

* [[Ratchet (Animated)|''Animated'' Ratchet]] has a prominent gut that resembles a human paunch. Although ordinarily this might be considered merely a feature of his transformation scheme (ala [[Trailbreaker (G1)|Trailbreaker]]), he is specifically designed to be a crotchety "old man" character, and in flashback sequences to his younger days in the Great War, he notably ''lacks'' said paunch.
* [[Gnaw]]. Well, all the [[Sharkticon (G1)|Sharkticons]], really, but seriously. It's kind of comically appropriate that the robots which do absolutely nothing but hang out and eat stuff all day are so roly poly.

There are several instances of female transformers whose bodies are designed with the explicit similarity to stereotypical human females. While this generally includes a more slender build (particularly a narrow waist) it also sometimes includes other characteristics which suggest a degree of gender dimorphism similar to organic races, although the purpose of this is unclear.

Note however that there are [[Strika (BM)|certainly]] some [[Glyph (G1)|exceptions]] to [[Road Rage|this]].

Some females even have two separate and even more distinctly rounded breast-like protuberances, particularly in their fictional depictions. [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]], [[Antagony]] and [[Beta]] all fall into this category. One, [[Thunderblast (Decepticon)| Thunderblast]], even has visible nipples. Another common feature to denote gender in some female Transfomers (mostly only in the fiction) will be possessing distinctly fuller, plumper lips than is standard, such as Blackarachnia in ''Beast Wars''. Approximately 7 million years ago, [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] were lost in a [[space bridge]] accident. This accident weakened the barrier between reality and the dimension in which The Fallen was trapped, allowing The Fallen to eventually break free and return to Cybertron.

The Fallen immediately set about initiating the "[[Unbinding]]", an event which required four particular Transformers, who would function as "angles in the geometry of dissolution". To help him round up the required Transformers, the Fallen recruited a [[Chaos Trinity|trio of Decepticon outcasts]], [[Bludgeon (G1)|Bludgeon]], [[Mindwipe]], and [[Bugly]], who hungered for a command of the occult. The Fallen promised them all manner of dark powers in exchange for serving him. Leading his three followers to a hidden room within Cybertron, he named [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] as the first of the angles to be gathered. {{storylink|Fragmentation}}

The Fallen and company proceeded to construct a strange machine within the [[Well of All Sparks]] in preparation for the Unbinding. Unfortunately, Bludgeon and friends got impatient for more than The Fallen's praise and demanded a more tangible reward: the arcane power he had promised them. The Fallen responded by grabbing Bludgeon’s head and giving him a mere glimpse of what he sought: images of a fiery vortex, demonic faces, stabbing swords and a human skull engulfed Bludgeon. The Fallen stated that this was but a peek inside a dark door he would fully open if they served him well. This left Bludgeon suitably inspired to begin hunting down their targets.

Bugly and Mindwipe leaked information to draw the [[Protectobot (G1)|Protectobots]] out into combat with [[Devastator (G1)|Devastator]], while Bludgeon hatched a plot to snare both Grimlock and[[Jetfire (G1)|Jetfire]]. {{storylink|Escalation}} Bludgeon, Bugly, and Mindwipe ambushed Jetfire as he attempted a cross-faction meeting with [[Shockwave (G1)|Shockwave]]. When Grimlock crashed the party earlier than they expected, however, The Fallen himself had to intervene and caught Grimlock’s blazing energo-sword in his bare hand. {{storylink|Revelation (The Dark Ages)|Revelation}}

Grimlock took one punch from The Fallen yet still got back up, so The Fallen grabbed him by the shoulders and unleashed a huge blast of energy that put the [[Dinobot (G1)|Dinobot]] leader out cold. He dragged Grimlock and Jetfire away and commanded his followers to gather the third angle while he handled the fourth. The Fallen singlehandedly abducted [[Blitzwing (G1)|Blitzwing]] from his well-guarded holding cell in Autobot headquarters, shrugging off attacks by some of the Autobots' best warriors and causing their weapons to corrode away into uselessness with a mere gesture. Bludgeon's team, meanwhile, succeeded in acquiring [[Hot Spot (G1)|Hot Spot]] from the Protectobots.

All four angles were strapped to the device in the Well of All Sparks. Launching into full B-movie villain mode, The Fallen theatrically monologued to the awakening Jetfire that they were casualties in the war of the Gods, and would be used to break the Seal of Primus, after which "all chaos will follow". {{storylink|Confrontation (issue)|Confrontation}}

The Fallen continued his villainous monologue, apparently directing it not at Jetfire but at Primus himself, as the four Transformers' unique sparks were drained to unlock the Seal of Primus. A combined army of forces from several factions defeated the Chaos Trinity and penetrated The Fallen's operation, while Jetfire arranged a force-field to contain the energy of Primus. The Fallen and his "[[Trans-dimensional AllSpark creations|brothers]]" were the first creations of the [[All Spark]]. The planet that would become [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] was mostly barren, but as the AllSpark gradually shaped Cybertron around them and gave The Fallen and his brothers power beyond measure, the All Spark was depleted. They learned that the All Spark's power could be replenished by harvesting the energy of stars, but they were unable to locate new stars to suit their purposes, despite their amazing ability to travel between dimensions.

A breakthrough came when the All Spark created for them [[Transformer|workers]] that had a power of their own: they could change their forms! Some, called [[seeker]]s could even change into interstellar crafts that could locate suns for them. But as the workers built a [[harvester]] on [[Earth]] to gather this solar energy, The Fallen wondered evil thoughts. What if only one harvested the energy? What if the power was his alone?

The Fallen betrayed his brothers. To erase their existence, he destroyed their sarcophagi in which their lifeforces were stored. But this drained him of almost all his energy, and while he was weak, the brothers he thought he had killed... acted. They sacrificed themselves to trap him in his own sarcophagus on Cybertron, while the Harvester on Earth was covered by the [[human|natives]] with a pyramid. {{storylink|Defiance issue 4}}

Knowledge of this was lost through the ages, and eons later, a mysterious pylon was found buried by modern-day Transformers, and delivered to [[Megatron (Movie)|Megatron]]'s private quarters. Upon activation, the pylon healed the grievously wounded Cybertronian military leader, and initiated contact with him.
