By the 17th November 2008, Morshower had become Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff. According to him, the understanding with the Autobots was that they were the good guys and the Decepticons were the bad guys, with no grey areas; when Sideswipe started causing chaos in South America, Morshower ordered Optimus to rein in or rub out the errant Autobot. Tales of the Fallen issue 2
:Actor: Glenn Morshower (English), Óscar Gómez (Latin American-Spanish-language dub voice)

As Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Marine General Morshower oversaw NEST's anti-Decepticon activities in real time from the Pentagon. During the mission to Shanghai, Morshower authorized NEST to deploy once he learned that the Chinese had sealed off the airspace around the suspected zone. It did not take long to confirm a Decepticon presence, but said Decepticon started things off with a bang, forcing Sergeant Epps to request air assistance. Morshower lowered his head in displeasure as a subordinate authorized gunships to deploy.

Following the Shanghai operation, Major Lennox requested an immediate video debriefing upon return to Diego Garcia, where Optimus Prime, the leader of the Autobots, informed Morshower of a warning the rampaging Decepticon had given them: "The Fallen shall rise again". However, at that moment, Theodore Galloway, the National Security Adviser who had been appointed White House liaison following Shanghai, took the time to air some of his complaints. Morshower had not been informed of this appointment by the President, and dryly noted that he must have missed that memo. Morshower let Galloway rant and generally disrespect NEST and his officers for a while before finally cutting in on the comment that the transmissions the Autobots sent into outer space weren't vetted by the White House, saying that Lennox and his men had vetted the transmissions, and he believed that they were beyond reproach in his experience. Galloway was more respectful to the Chairman than he was to the rest of NEST, but only slightly, saying that as far as President Obama was concerned, no one was above reproach.

However, the Decepticons had been listening in on the video communication and had learned that the AllSpark shard was held on Diego Garcia. Morshower soon learned that there were five unknown objects diving to the ocean floor in the Laurentian Abyss, at a time when there was only a single submarine on station. Morshower declared that they had a problem, which soon came to pass: the Decepticons had resurrected Megatron.

After Megatron killed Optimus Prime while trying to capture Sam Witwicky, the U.S.S. Roosevelt was destroyed, along with an attack on Paris. As Morshower was being informed of what had happened, a message from "The Fallen" appeared on all communications across the globe: turn over Sam Witwicky, or Earth will be destroyed. Galloway used this to place himself in charge of NEST and shut down the team, taking the remaining Autobots back to Diego Garcia under guard. Morshower was displeased with this particular move, but he had a national strategy to coordinate.

While coordinating said strategy, Morshower received a note from Lennox with coordinates for the Gulf of Aqaba and a single message: "Prepare to bring the rain". Morshower recognized that Lennox had a better idea of what was going on than their national security adviser, and told his men to be prepared to back NEST up if it came to a fight, but wanted better confirmation. Morshower then learned that Witwicky had been spotted one hundred miles from Aqaba, which Morshower took as further confirmation.

Once NEST had arrived at said coordinates, they tricked Galloway into parachuting out of the plane carrying them and called Morshower. Galloway demanded that the General tell him where he was, but Morshower hung up without so much as a goodbye. Although he would have been amused by Galloway's predicament, Morshower was concerned that Galloway could contact them while Lennox and his men could not. Heading to NEST's control room, Morshower learned that they couldn't establish contact with NEST, while something had blinded all their satellites above the area. Morshower ordered his men to contact Egypt and Jordan to deploy some air assets to locate their men. Once they saw that hell had opened up in the area, Morshower ordered every available armed unit to the region. The forces managed to arrive, and the day was saved. Revenge of the Fallen (film)

: Amusingly, this version of Ironhide is the only American toy release that has full-length exhaust stacks. Also, there are many complaints about the fists sticking out of the back of the truck and the weird truck proportions.
**Accessories: Left & right cannons, 4 missiles

:Ironhide transforms into a modified black 2006 GMC Topkick 4500 four-wheel drive pickup truck. Although Hasbro's official stock photos and early packaged samples featured two real-life accurate full length exhaust smokestacks behind the rear cabin, they have been slightly shortened for safety and durability reasons for the actual release of the toy. Otherwise, however, the vehicle mode is very accurate to the real prop truck... well, aside from the fact that Ironhide's massive missile launchers are quite visible underneath the vehicle. Despite rumors to the contrary, TakaraTomy's Japanese release of the toy features the same shortened smokestacks as the Hasbro version.

:Ironhide features an Automorph gimmick in his legs during transformation: As the user swings down his feet, all of the panels that make up his legs automatically shift and fold into place. This gimmick does not affect Ironhide's articulation. Confusingly, the instructions omit the exact positioning of the roof panels and rear window on his back, though they can fold into a compact design for maximum articulation.

:In robot mode, his arm-mounted cannons are inactive while mounted on both arms. However, detaching the left arm cannon and combining it with the right arm creates a huge functional missile launcher that is almost as big as Ironhide himself. The missile-launching mechanism itself isn't the typical spring-loaded button design, instead relying on a pressure-launch system to fire the missiles from the four barrels.

As he's now made of several colors of plastic, he's no longer the most monochromatic toy in the 2007 Movie line.
He still transforms into the customized GMC Topkick. He features a spring-loaded missile launcher in his left cannon. But, thanks to the simpler transformation, the hood and wheels trap his arms below the wheel. :Cyber Slammers Ironhide is an amazingly cute GMC Topkick that transforms into an amazingly cute trigger happy weapons specialist. 'Slam' his robot mode down into car mode and he rolls along, slowly transforming back up into robot mode. Like most Cyber Slammers, Ironhide manages to cram most of his vehicle mode's major details into a compact, super-deformed version of that mode. Interestingly enough, this is the only pre-Revenge of the Fallen merchandise to feature Ironhide's scarred right eye.
**Accessories: Missile launcher cannon, energy cannon, projectile

: Revenge of the Fallen Voyager class Ironhide is a retool of the toy from the 2007 Transformers movie line. The original arm cannons have been replaced by new, more accurate (and less gimmicky) cannons that can be connected together and mounted on top of Ironhide's truck bed cover. The truck bed cover and arm mountings for this Ironhide's cannons are unchanged from the 2007 movie line voyagers. So any voyager Ironhide can carry and use both the original and new weapons. The large cannon features screwdriving firing action in which the barrel section twists forward before firing the missile. The small cannon can retract its barrel and has a 5mm hole on its underside that allows it to plug into the peg on the large cannon like a scope if so desired. Since the weapons can connect to each other, the figure (and all other uses of this mold) can hold these and the combined 2007 cannons at once. All four cannons can fit on his truck mode as well, the old ones underneath and the new ones on top. Ironhide's head has been replaced with a more accurate, asymmetrical head. Ironhide also features a new grey colour scheme with some red pin stripes and a NEST logo on each of his doors.

: According to the box pictures and instructions, the small cannon is misassembled. The gray sliding shaft is actually reversed from the direction it is supposed to be facing. This doesn't affect anything, but can be easily fixed by loosening the screws on the black outer section, sliding out the shaft, then turning it around and putting it back in.

: A packaging variant determines whether the missile is loaded or unloaded in the box.

**Accessories: Assault rifle, minigun, knife, bullbar/crossbow, projectile

:Recon Ironhide is an extensive retool, replacing his doors with military Humvee-style armoured door panels, adding a roof/truck bed-mounted lighting rig/weapons rack and replacing his Road Armor fender with a massive bullbar that can be removed and converted into a spring-loaded crossbow weapon. Ironhide's traditional arm-mounted weapons have been replaced with the aforementioned crossbow, a smaller version of his arm mounted cannon, an assault rifle, a minigun, and two combat knives. Either knife can be attached to the front of the rifle as a bayonet, and the rifle and mini gun can be clipped to the sides of his arm mounted weapons (the guns and knives can also be attached to the front of his arm cannon). The two rifles and knives can also be attached to his backpack rails in robot mode. Think he's armed enough yet? Additionally, this retool of Ironhide includes a new headsculpt featuring his battle mask.

:In an unfortunate change, all of Ironhide's (newly-tooled) windows are now cast in opaque plastic, compared to the translucent plastic seen on previous versions of this toy.
His smokestacks are of the long variety, and his head is the second (after Voyager Recon Ironhide) to be sculpted in "battle mask" mode. The toy comes with a transforming weapon accessory, his missile turret from the Revenge of the Fallen video game. Sadly, this goes at the expense of a movie-accurate cannon for the left arm. The turret can stay attached to his arm when transforming back to his vehicle mode, thanks to a hard to notice joint on the other arm's cannon flipping open to allow more room, ensuring no chance of losing this accessory.
Legends Class toys
*Starscream (Legends Class, 2007)

: Legends-class Starscream is a highly simplified, low-cost version of Starscream in his F-22 Raptor body. As such, he has a greatly compromised transformation sequence due to the smaller parts count, with limited articulation and detailing. He's also the bronzest F-22 Raptor Starscream toy there is.

: This mold was also used to make Revenge of the Fallen Thundercracker.

: A Toys R Us exclusive, this six-pack of Legends class figures contains unmodified toys of Optimus Prime, Jazz, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream and Barricade.

: The previously released Legends-class Starscream toy is redecoed predominantly black and silver, somewhat resembling Generation 1 Skywarp. Oddly enough, the paint applications are identical to the regular toy. He comes with a redeco Legends-class Optimus Prime in his Nightwatch color scheme.

Deluxe Class toys
*Protoform Starscream (Deluxe, 2007)
**Japanese ID number: MD-05
**Accessories: Gun with missile and flame attachment

:Based upon the "Protoform" (Cybertronian) appearances of the Transformers in the movie, Protoform Starscream transforms into his "entry" mode Cybertronic rocket thing. This mode somewhat resembles a Cybertronic spaceship, with a visible bridge between the two dorsal fins. A flame decoration piece fits onto the back of the "vehicle" over the missile projectile, creating the illusion of a flaming comet's tail . The bottom of the vehicle has small wheels to roll the toy across smooth surfaces.

:In robot mode, Starscream marginally resembles previous Starscreams, mostly G1 Starscream, with the large turbines on his chest, wings and vents on his legs. Due to his extensive use of ball joints, he has excellent articulation. Starscream is armed with a spring-loaded missile launcher that fires the previously mentioned projectile cast in the same bronze color as his body. Alternatively, the flame decoration can be fitted onto the end of the barrel.

:This toy also has an Automorphing feature, as most of the figures in the main line do. Pushing his head back during transformation will move his shoulder pieces back into place, while moving the shoulders forward will make the head pop back up. While either the missile or the flame can be placed into the gun, the flame can be placed onto the missile, using both at once. However, in some cases, the flame does not have a snug fit on the missile and falls off easily. This makes firing the missile rather awkward and makes the gun look extremely goofy.

: It's also entirely possible that this figure will eventually suffer from GPS, as the bronze plastic it is cast in has the same characteristic swirling exhibited by older figures that rapidly deteriorated. However, newer materials and processes may prevent the toy from ever seeing a single crack form. It is highly suggested that this toy not be painted or altered in any way to maximize its lifespan.

*Protoform Starscream Fusion Cluster Edition (C3xHobby Convention exclusive Deluxe, Japan 2007)
**Accessories: Gun with missile and flame attachment

:An extensive redeco of the Protoform Starscream mold that was exclusively available at the Japanese C3xHobby Convention in August of 2007, and later offered by e-Hobby in limited quantities. Most of the body is made out of transparent orange plastic, while orange and yellow paint are used on the front end of the "entry" mode, mimicking the heat effects of sudden atmospheric entry. The flame attachment is made out of clear blue plastic, with the tail end being covered in gold paint.

Voyager Class toys
*Starscream (Voyager, 2007)
**Japanese ID number: MD-08
**Accessories: Six missiles

: The Voyager-class version of Movie Starscream transforms into an officially-licensed Lockheed-Martin F-22 Raptor fighter jet, albeit in beige.

:Pushing the fighter along a smooth surface causes the missile-launching barrels to rotate and fire their projectiles, which can also be stored in the black flip-up braces on the launchers. During transformation, pushing up upon the canopy fuselage piece activates Starscream's Automorphing gimmick, which pushes panels out of the torso, wings and stabilizers. In robot mode, Starscream is mostly faithful to his movie CGI model, except for being bulkier around his chest, lacking engines on his back and having the very large Gatling cannons serve as his arms (a facsimile of his much slenderer weapons from the movie). Interestingly, his projectile missiles are sculpted to resemble fingers, should users choose keep them loaded while Starscream is in robot mode. An interesting note is that Swindle's (or Camshaft's) hands, when detached, make a snug fit in between the three main cannons; if you're feeling sillier, Legends Megatron's shoulder does, too. Go on, try it yourself, yes, we'll wait...

:This toy was later retooled and redecoed into Movie Thundercracker, ROTF Ramjet and, ROTF Skywarp.

:A three-pack, exclusive to Sam's Club stores, consisting of redecos of Voyager Class Optimus Prime and Deluxe Class Arcee, both with a battle damage deco, and an unchanged Voyager Class Starscream.

*Starscream (Target exclusive Voyager-sized toy, 2007)
**Accessories: Six missiles

: An extensive redeco of Voyager class Starscream available only as a Target exclusive, this version is redecoed in a color scheme based upon Generation 1 Starscream. This version of Starscream shares the retooled version of this mold with Movie Thundercracker, giving Starscream a new, vaguely G1-ish head sculpt. The packaging for this toy explains that Starscream altered his appearance following his escape at the end of the film in order to avoid detection.

*Starscream Vardia Red Model (Toshiba exclusive Voyager-sized toy, 2007)
**Accessories: Six missiles

: In a joint venture by Paramount Home Entertainment Japan and electronics giant Toshiba, Starscream Vardia Red Model is an exclusive redeco of Voyager Starscream only available with Toshiba's new Vardia RD-A301 HD DVD recorder. The package also comes with an HD-DVD copy of Transformers, five HD DVD-R and five DVD-R discs.

:Starscream Vardia Red Model is extremely red, with some gold, a little black and Toshiba Vardia markings on his hull. With the player costing 100,000 yen at the time, this may be the most expensive Transformers exclusive to be released in relatively large quantities.

*Deep Space Starscream (Target exclusive "Premium Series" Voyager, 2008)
**Accessories: Six missiles

:A Target exclusive (But appeared in European retail in 2009), Deep Space Starscream is a redeco of the first version of Voyager class Starscream, based upon the colours used by Industrial Light & Magic on Starscream's CGI model (instead of the totally made up and inaccurate tan colouring on the previous release). As such he is metallic silver with complementary greys in fighter mode, including the 'First Fighter' (FF) squadron markings indicating he is an F-22 Raptor from Langley Air Force Base. In robot mode reveals gold paint inside his chest detailing and red for circuitry detailing. His eyes are painted film-accurate red, but the rest of the Light-piping that makes up the back of his head is left uncolored, making the glowing eye effect no longer work while STILL retaining the miscolored bronzed glass color that the clear plastic was molded in. If one wanted to restore the light piping, though, the paint is fairly easy to remove.

: Deep Space Starscream is presented in 'Premium Octagonal' packaging very similar to Robo-Vision Optimus Prime. Even though Hasbro officially considers him as part of the Premium Series, this is not indicated anywhere on the packaging.

Fast Action Battlers
*Battle Blade Starscream (Fast Action Battler, 2007)
**Japanese ID number: QC-02

: Fast Action Battlers "Battle Blade" Starscream transforms into a somewhat superdeformed F-22 Raptor, simplifying the overall design to the point of his feet noticeably sticking out the aft of the fighter, and has a truncated transformation sequence reminiscent of past Transformers such as Generation 1 Jetfire and Cybertron Thundercracker. Rather than having a separate weapon, he only has a claw-like blade that flips over the right hand (hence "Battle Blade") and non-removable missiles in the palms of his hands.

: This toy was later redecoed as Claw Slash Ramjet.

: There is a Korean fake of this model going around, under the name of "Latent Spider". Fortunately no real spiders have been found latent inside the toy.

Other toys
*Starscream (Little Red Rooster Meal, 2007)

:One of five toys that was available at Red Rooster, an Australian based fast food chain. This kids meal toy is a black F-22 Raptor with a silver canopy that transforms by simply flipping the jet around to reveal the gray robot mode underneath, pulling down the landing gear and legs, and standing him upright.
:Legends class Starscream is a redeco of 2007's Legends class Starscream, the main difference being a mostly single main colour scheme (compared to 2007's rather random colour choices) and the Revenge of the Fallen-specific Cyberglyph tattoos.

:Revenge of the Fallen Voyager class Starscream is far more accurate to the movie model in both modes than the previous movie's Voyager mold. Revenge Starscream has two arm-mounted, spring loaded missile launchers sculpted to resemble his M61A2 Vulcan 20 mm rotary cannons. Starscream's Mech Alive gimmick is linked between his head and chest; when you turn his head, the gears in his chest spin. He has amber light piping for his eyes, but they've been painted over in red.

:According to the stock photos of the hand-painted prototype (seen at left), Starscream's hands originally had a joint down the middle of his palms, possibly to facilitate in hiding them in fighter mode. His arm-mounted cannons were also originally separate parts from his forearms, jointed to move back and forth, again possibly to hide them in fighter mode. However this was changed for the final toy, with the hands now molded as one piece and unable to be hidden in vehicle mode, and his cannons' details (including the joints) simply molded directly onto his arms. His knee caps were also originally a separate movable piece and not joined to his upper leg. It is assumed this was done for cost cutting. His packaging call-outs (excepting Europe) still claim that he has "pop out missile launchers," despite this gimmick's removal. The toy's instructions include a superfluous "flip down hands" step, and depict the missile launchers extended with partially-folded hands when describing the missile-launch action.
**Accessories: Missile launcher, 2 missiles

:Like the various figures released earlier, Leader-class Starscream transforms into a(n officially licensed?) Lockheed-Martin F-22 Raptor fighter jet, decoed in a gunmetal-like gray and covered in Cybertronian tattoos to more accurately reflect his on-screen appearance in Revenge of the Fallen than his Voyager-class toys. In robot mode, either of Starscream's hands can fold down to accommodate a spring-loaded missile launcher that fires one of two included projectiles; both missiles and the missile launcher can be stored via pegs on his back. Starscream also features two flip-out, non-firing weapons on his forearms: a cannon resembling an M61 Vulcan on the right, and two generic missiles on the left.

:Starscream's primary gimmick in this size is the addition of electronic lights and sounds. Pulling down on his canopy in robot mode opens chest panels and his mouth and produces one of two phrases: "Decepticons will crush the Autobots!" and "No one can defeat Starscream!" in the version released in the United States, and simply "Decepticons!" and "Starscream!" in the version released in rest of the world, including most of the version released in Canada, Mexico, and Latin America. Additionally, the canopy activates an LED which light up Starscream's clear, red eyes and various other portions of clear, amber plastic in his chest. During transformation, a button is activated, playing a four-note version of the Noise. In Raptor mode, Starscream's lights and sounds are activated by a Decepticon-sigil covered button on the top of the jet. In addition to lighting the canopy and turbines, this button plays two sounds: either generic jet engine noises or Starscream's voice saying either "No one can defeat Starscream!" (US) or simply "Starscream!" (International).
Striking the wheel causes it to advance to the next slot, revealing damage to Starscream's torso. A second tap reveals even more damage. Despite being a free pack-in toy, the figure is surprisingly well molded, having well defined head parts and the twin afterburners on his back that even the Voyager version lacks. :Robot Heroes Starscream is sculpted in a crouching pose, possibly inspired by his landing when talking to Megatron in the film. ====Legends Class toys====

*Battle for the Allspark (Toys'R'Us exclusive multi-pack, 2007)

: A Toys R Us exclusive, this six-pack of Legends class figures contains unmodified toys of Optimus Prime, Jazz, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream and Barricade.

*Nightwatch Optimus Prime vs. Stealth Starscream (Legends Allspark Battles two-pack, 2008)

*Battle damage three-pack (Sam's Club exclusive three-pack, 2007)

Revenge of the Fallen
Legends Class toys
*Starscream (Legends, 2009)
**Japanese ID number: EZ-04

:Legends class Starscream is a redeco of 2007's Legends class Starscream, the main difference being a mostly single main colour scheme (compared to 2007's rather random colour choices) and the Revenge of the Fallen-specific Cyberglyph tattoos.

:For some odd reason, his card back depicts how to transform him from his alt-mode to his robot mode; as all Legends are packaged in robot mode, wouldn't robot-to-vehicle work better?

:Starscream is a redeco of 2007's Legends class Starscream. He came packaged with Smokescreen as a Target exclusive as part of the NEST Global Alliance subline imprint. His paint scheme appears to be inspired by the Kmart exclusive Voyager class "Nebular Starscream" redeco.

::*More information on Target Legends Starscream at TFU.info

Voyager Class toys
*Starscream (Voyager, 2009)
**Japanese ID number: RD-02
**Accessories: 2 projectiles

:A redeco of the new-mold Revenge of the Fallen Voyager class Starscream, Nebular Starscream is a "powered up" version of Starscream (with his packaging going so far as to promote his "exclusive powered-up paint job"). He was exclusive to Kmart stores in North America.
*Sword Slash Starscream (Fast Action Battler, 2009)

: Sword Slash Starscream is a redeco of the 2007 Battle Blade Starscream, with the plane parts colored gray and covered in cyberglyphics and the robot parts colored bronze. His flip-out blade is now purple.

: As a Gravity Bot, this Starscream features no articulation at all, but relies wholly on a gravity-based autotransformation gimmick. When laid down on a flat surface, Starscream will transform into a super deformed F-22, while standing him on his feet again will switch him to robot mode.
:This Walmart-exclusive two-pack is based upon the scene in Revenge of the Fallen where Starscream pursues Seymour Simmons, Mudflap and Skids in Egypt. The Voyager class Starscream toy features a much brighter plastic colour and has "battle damage" scorch mark paint decos. Mudflap features a weathered, sandblasted deco.

Leader Class toys
*Starscream (Leader, 2010)

*Starscream (Activator, 2010)

:Activators Starscream is a small toy with cutesified proportions in both robot and F-22 modes. His transformation is greatly simplified, with most of the jet parts just hanging off his back in robot mode. Like all Activators, Starscream features button-activated autotransformation from jet to robot.

:Masterpiece Starscream is a redeco of Leader Class Transformers (2010) Starscream without the Cybertronian glyphs on his body, and instead has an extensive, detailed paint scheme that matches his appearance in the first live action movie and the F-22 Raptors of the USAF First Fighter Wing from Langley Air Force Base. Starscream comes with a mini-comic by Simon Furman and Guido Guidi, entitled Unite for the Universe.
:Free inside specially marked boxes of Oscar Meyer Lunchables dinners, Starscream is one of six "Pocket Transformers" toy prizes. Molded in green, his tablet unfolds to reveal a picture of his robot mode inside. His name is also spelled out, across his feet in this mode.

: This mold was also used to creatre the lunchables figure for Blackout and Megatron. A similar mold was used to creature the Lunchables figure for Optimus, Ironhide and Bumblebee, though with the Autobot symbol sculpted in instead of the Decepticon one. Each itiration of this mold was made with a different color of plastic.

:The radio controlled Starscream Micro Flyer was made by Interactive Toy Concepts for Radio Shack, and consists of a foam F-22 Raptor with two small battery-powered propeller engines which allow the little plane to soar relatively high into the air. This toy can operate on 3 channels.
Burger King
*Starscream Burger King free toy (2007)

:A non-transformable version of Starscream, cast primarily in chalk-grey plastic. It can rotate its arms at the shoulder. The toy's main gimmick, though, is the wheel in his chest. It even has six fingers (or rather, four fingers and two thumbs) on each hand!
:Robot Heroes Starscream is sculpted in a crouching pose, possibly inspired by his landing when talking to Megatron in the film. He has the standard Robot Heroes articulation of both shoulders and his neck, however the pre-posed nature means his right arms is really more useful as a support than a usable joint.

:This version of Starscream is almost a prelude to the previous one, as he's now sculpted in a touching down pose as opposed to a full land. Like the previous mold, it has articulation at the shoulders and neck. Unfortunately, the left arm is lifted straight out to side, allowing him to rotate the arm but not pose it.

Before the war, Sideways was a simple courier, not exactly a career demanding massive levels of courage. This means that in the battle against the Autobots, Sideways prefers to team up with larger Decepticons. This way, his target-friendly companion takes all the heat! In fact, he generally shuns combat entirely. He's not a courageous fellow. But when he absolutely must face the enemy, he eagerly deploys the spinning saw blades on his arms.

Since he's arrived on Earth, Sideways has started hanging out with the mountainous Demolishor. There are few larger Decepticons to lurk in the shadow of!

Sideways made an early landing in Australia, with Optimus Prime and Arcee pursuing him through its northern territories. With his souped-up sports car alt mode, Sideways had them outclassed on the roads and was able to both outpace the Autobots and batter them about. Eventually, Optimus decided to change the terrain by blasting the Decepticon off the road. While willing to fight, the Decepticon gave up when human reinforcements arrived.

However, it became clear (to us, anyway) that he was meant to get captured as part of a plan to frame Skids and Mudflap: as soon as he was taken to Diego Garcia, Scorponok arrived to free him. Knocking Arcee aside and using debris as a weapon against humans, Sideways made good his escape. Transformers Comic issue 2.5

Unfortunately for Sideways, the other part of Soundwave's plan was to get Skids and Mudflap into the Decepticons, and there was no escape from the twins talking all the time and dissing him as an "average, creativity-stifled grunt". When the twins were sent to bring in Ransack, he protested that they were halfwits, and was relieved to find out they were just bait and he'd get to kill 'em afterwards.

Trailing the twins with Grindor, he discovered to his disgust that the twins had talked to Ransack instead of fighting. That was "the sort of example that so needs nipping in the bud", so he and Grindor attacked! Unfortunately for Sideways, the twins were only pretending to defect so they could capture a Decepticon; Mudflap engaged Sideways in a game of chicken, forcing the 'con off the road and straight into a tree. Transformers Comic issue 2.7

Sideways was hiding out in Shanghai with Demolishor when NEST came to investigate a possible Decepticon insurgence. At first, the two Decepticons remained concealed, but Demolishor soon transformed and attacked. While the soldiers and their Autobot allies were busy fighting off Demolishor, Sideways took advantage of the chaos and attempted to make his getaway. He was not entirely undetected, however, as Major Lennox sent out Arcee and the twins in pursuit.

With Arcee and the Twins on his tail, Sideways turned a corner to an apartment complex in his way. Rather than turn and lose momentum, Sideways chucked caution to the wind and transformed, jumping through the apartment building and out the other side. The Twins were unable to keep up with the chase, and Sideways was soon able to fight off Arcee. Sideways didn't get far, and eventually met his end when Sideswipe engaged in pursuit, transformed, and bisected Sideways as he attempted to flee. Revenge of the Fallen (film)
Besides his speed, Sideways enjoys using deception to get himself out of trouble. ====Revenge of the Fallen- The Game (Xbox 360/Sony PS3/PC)====
Decepticon campaign
Sideways operated as a high-speed reconnaissance operative with the ability to snipe at Autobot opponents from afar with his plasma sniper rifle, engage them up-close with his rapid-firing slag repeater, and slow enemies to a crawl with his graviton mine when he needed to get away. He uses a pair of saws in melee combat.

Sideways was deployed to Shanghai after the Autobots and their NEST allies were detected interfering with an important operation in the area. Upon arrival, various Protectobot drones were sent to stop him, but failed. Later, Sideways was sent to the Shanghai waterfront to retrieve Grindor, who had been damaged and captured by the Autobots. The nimble Decepticon sports car used a combination of speed and guile to fight his way through the numerically superior Autobot forces, freed Grindor and escorted his bigger buddy back to the extraction point. He was sent back to the waterfront again find a cloaked Autobot probe that threatened the Decepticon operations in China. Following the probe's wake, Sideways raced through the waterfront past startled human dockworkers and the Protectobot units assigned to the area, destroying the probe as it revealed itself. Revenge of the Fallen (Xbox 360/PS3/PC)
Autobot campaign
The Autobots were deployed to China when NEST forces detected the presence of Decepticons in Shanghai. Sideways secreted himself within the urban jungle and sent waves of Stunticon drones against Ironhide. After the last batch of Stunticons had been defeated, Sideways revealed himself, taking pot shots at the powerful Autobot with his slag repeater, after which he would <s>cheese it</s> flee through the narrow alleyways where Ironhide had difficulty following. While the Autobot struggled to pass the cramped causeways, Sideways set himself up on the roof of the tallest residential block and fired his plasma sniper rifle. Ironhide shrugged off the blasts, clambered up the building, and with a mighty punch, sent Sideways plummeting to the ground, reducing him to scrap. Revenge of the Fallen (Xbox 360/PS3/PC)
*Sideways (Legends, 2009)
**Japanese ID number:
: A smaller-scale Sideways with a simplified transformation reminiscent of Barricade's, such as making the sides of the car into his arms. He features ball joint hips, backwards knee things, and ball joint arms for articulation. Like with the Deluxe toy, the car lacks the wide black stripe from the movie.

: This mold was also used to make 2010 Transformers Override.

*Sideways (Deluxe, 2009)
**Japanese ID number: RD-05

:Deluxe-Class Sideways features Automorph action during the conversion from car to robot mode. When the front bumper is pressed, his front pair of wheels automatically flip underneath the hood, and his robot abs flip down. There is also some Mech Alive: you can see internal gears moving in his fore-arms when moving his arms, as well as a turning disk on each of his elbows. On his right arm is a spinning "saw" blade. He is probably the least film-accurate toy to date (that doesn't fall in a lesser size-class or different toy-line), but that doesn't make him any less awesome.

:Unlike the other on-screen characters in Revenge of the Fallen who turn into consumer vehicles, Sideways' vehicle mode is merely an approximation of an Audi R8 and is not an accurate replica. This is because the toy vehicle, lacking Audi signage, is unlicensed. Deluxe class Sideways is missing the black front lid, roof and rear hood seen on Sideways toys of other price points, and the real car. However, all of the toys are missing the unique silver stripes on top of the black areas seen on the APR-tuned Audi R8, which was the car used in the movie.

:Yet another victim of late mold changes rampant among the 2008-2009 financial crisis, Sideways appears to have had a hinged thumb on his left hand in Hasbro stock photos whereas this is a solid section molded on to the arm on the final toy. Although not indicated on any early photos nor instructions, Sideways' windshield underside has two notches that connect to Sideways' hood on small square pegs immediately behind the front wheels. This requires folding up the two small triangular pieces on top of the hood. Also it seems as if the spinning saw blade was originally powered by gears, the gearbox and shaft for the lever can still be seen on his right forearm but are molded just like his thumb onto the arm.

:Along with Breakaway, Sideways was initially released in two color schemes, a light silver version and a less common very dark silver version. If you move the headlights, doors and legs of the lighter Sideways to the darker one, allowing for a dark hood and roof, and silver everywhere else, it helps to make for a slightly more movie-accurate Sideways. However, the stripes will still be missing.
He has rotational articulation at both shoulders and extremely limited neck articulation. Curiously, he holds a chainsaw-like blade in his hand, rather than it being integrated into wheel-kibble on his wrist. However, this is pretty close to how his weapon actually works in the official video game; when Sideways fights in melee, his wheel-blades spread out to form razor-edged ovals, presumably for added reach.

* The AllSpark Almanac Volume 2 revealed that the other Sideways—the devious dimension-hopping minion of Unicron—had made contact with the Animated universe, and that, while inhabiting that universe, he adopted a body form with minor similarities to Revenge of the Fallen Sideways and shows an interest in visiting Shanghai. If that character were to make that transit in keeping with his past established behavior then it would mean that Revenge of the Fallen Sideways is, after all, Robots in Disguise/Unicron Trilogy/Robot Masters/Animated Sideways. However, the book only asserts his intention to visit Shanghai, not that he actually traveled there, nor does it specify which dimension's Shanghai he even meant—there is no unambiguous proof that such a jaunt was made and that the two Sidewayses must be the same character. Author Jim Sorenson characterized the book as being meant to match the Animated series' penchant for "in-jokes and Easter Eggs" , suggesting that he might not have meant it to be taken seriously. It is left to individual fans to judge matters for themselves.

*When Audi was looking to win screen time for one of its cars in the summer films during 2009, Ruben Igielko-Herrlich, a marketing consultant from Propaganda Global Entertainment Marketing, helped the company to find an opportunity in the film Revenge of the Fallen. Ruben talked the staff from the film into finding a role for the Audi R8. Ultimately, an Audi R8 appears in the film as Sideways. Thus, Sideways became the only car Transformer in the movie whose alternate mode is not manufactured by General Motors.

* According to the pre-visualization animation from the movie DVD's bonus material, Sideways was originally supposed to have a Lamborghini alternate mode as compared to the Audi R8 seen in the film.

* Sideways's toys and merchandise are not licensed by Audi, and are thus merely approximations of the R8. However, Sideways' appearance in the Revenge of the Fallen video games is fully licensed, so he is accurate to the car used in the film and has Audi's logos and signage.

* According to designer Hisashi Yuki, the wheels on the hands were a rushed late addition due to a design change in the movie character model. This is why the hand tires are not integrated more properly into the toy.

* Sideways almost was Barricade! Chris Mowry had planned for Barricade to appear and be turned into Sideways in Transformers: Alliance, but Hasbro rejected the idea.
