*In Galaxy Force, the Japanese version of the Cybertron cartoon, Vector Prime is identified as an Ancient. However, in western fiction, as a member of the thirteen original Transformers, he pre-dates the Transformers who masterminded the colonization program by several million, if not billion, years. Consequently, the waters are a little muddied when it comes to Logos Prime, who is identified by the Japanese Beast Wars Reborn prose story as being an "Ancient", but is further identified as "one of [Vector Prime's] own" and presented as having incredible powers on an equal level with Vector Prime's, strongly suggesting that he is supposed to be one of the thirteen, rather than simply a colonist. By what would appear to be only sheer coincidence, various Revenge of the Fallen storybooks would also refer to the original thirteen Transformers as "Ancients".

Devcon is a self-proclaimed bounty hunter, one of the successful few during the years of the Great War. Harboring an intense hatred of Decepticons, he spent his time fiercely hunting those who were too dangerous for the other Autobots to consider. Who he works for or who he would even collect money from for his "finds" is unknown.

It's possible for Devcon to survive for extended periods without refueling due to his incredibly efficient internal systems. This is often what allows him to outlast the efforts of his prey. The origin of his legendary tracking skills are unknown; much of his past is a mystery. In his original body, he has an arm-mounted plasma blaster and a head-mounted laser cannon. His space cruiser mode is capable of long range interstellar flight.

He used to be friendly, courteous, and jovial, but his post-Great War career as an Imperial Peace Marshal apparently made him a bitter cynic.

Devcon left his home planet Cybertron millions of years ago, "during the Great War" (whether he was a bounty hunter at the time or became one later on is anyone's guess). He was a nice guy, dedicated to his job, but lonely.

In the Earth year of 1985, Devcon tracked Astrotrain, Dirge and Ramjet to the gambling asteroid Monacus. When the Decepticons unknowingly evaded him, he headed to a bar and ended up laying the smack down to a pair of thugs who were picking on Slizardo, the henchman of a local mob boss.

He quickly ran into Smokescreen and the alien gambler Bosch, who were down on their luck following a bad bet. Devcon was pleased by the presence of another Autobot, and sat down to drink with the pair - but Devcon's life story was interrupted by Slizardo trying to pledge his eternal loyalty to him!

After helping Smokescreen and the other Autobots on Monacus (and declining an offer to join the Autobots on Earth), Devcon flew off into space with Slizardo in tow as his new sidekick. The Gambler
Devcon was a jerk who ditched that Slizardo loser out an airlock first chance he got.

At the end of the Great War, Devcon retired from his seemingly payless bounty hunter gig and signed on as one of the Maximals' Imperial Peace Marshals.

Hundreds of Stellar cycles later, Devcon was critically damaged during the Vehicon takeover of Cybertron and forced to transfer his Spark into a Mirage drone. In need of a ride, he later snuck aboard an Autobot shuttle the Wreckers had stolen to leave Vehicon-controlled Cybertron. After attacking and defeating Packrat, Sonar, and Mol for no reason, he was confronted by the rest of the Wreckers when they were alerted to his presence. Departure Fractyl and Arcee were also quickly dispatched before Rodimus Major could calm him down.

Devcon proceeded to sow dissent amongst the already-fractured Wreckers with his abrasive, snarky personality. After landing on Archa Nine and failing to keep the Divine Light out of the hands of the traitorous Cyclonus, the Wreckers gladly built Devcon back into his original body so he could go away. Betrayal

Having sworn vengeance against Cyclonus, Devcon, knowing he needed help, sought for someone willing to assist him at Spaceport CSSB-16. Though not enough in a hurry to skip on some enjoyment, he swiftly got the Beast Era Dinobots to join forces with him. Disclosure
Hearing the Wreckers had a beeline on the villains, Devcon met up with them deep below Cybertron and did battle with Cyclonus. He was present when Primal Prime and Apelinq fused into the Primus-powered Sentinel Maximus to oppose the equally empowered Cryotek.}}

As Sentinel Maximus and Cryotek began their epic battle, Devcon and the Wreckers were left to deal with Cyclonus, Cryotek's pet Deployer Chro, a borrowed swarm of Sharkticons, and a legion of drones created by the Divine Light. Typical Wrecker odds. Even their vaunted tenacity started to slip, however, as more and more heroes fell in battle or just vanished mysteriously. With the drones destroyed and Rodimus occupying Cyclonus, Devcon and the newly arrived Cheetor were the only ones left standing against the mutated Deployer. A stray shot left Devcon stunned and helpless, and he would have been destroyed by Chro if not for the well-timed arrival of Tigatron and Arcee with reinforcements. The Wreckers arrived in time for the final conflict between Sentinel Maximus and Cryotek, but were unable to stop their leader from sacrificing himself to carry Cryotek through a portal into the featureless void, opening by their treacherous ally, the Quintesson Al-Badur. With Rodimus dead and Maximus gone, it was a pyrric victory at best.

After the invasion was quelled, Devcon planned to take off for deep space again. As security chief of Cybertron, Rattrap offered him a position with planetary defense, but the bounty hunter declined. Devcon finally admitted that he had at least given Slizardo a space suit and survival kit before dumping him out that airlock, and that maybe he'd seek the little guy out to restart their partnership after all. Wreckers: Finale Part II

At 2001, a hand-painted Vehicon Mirage, representing Devcon as seen in the Wreckers comics, was one of several future exclusives that attendees could vote to have produced for 2002. He evidently lost the vote, as the ultra-sized Jetstorm as G1 Cyclonus was produced the following year. The mock-up was put on display along with many other unmade Wreckers toys in the BotCon 2002 art room.

Among the submitted proposals for 3H's BotCon 2005 exclusives was Energon Slugslinger (with a new head) as Devcon. Whether it actually would have been produced had 3H kept the convention license is unknown.
Notes
* Devcon's name is a play on the word "DEFCON", an acronym related to military alertness. Although unconfirmed, it is thought that, along with the embargo on the word "nuclear", the writers of the Generation 1 cartoon were not allowed to use the actual word DEFCON in light of heightened Cold War tensions at the time, thus requiring a made-up soundalike word.
* Devcon's inclusion in the Wreckers comic was due to writer Rob Gerbracht being a big fan of the character. A serialized web series written in the style of Gerbracht's Apelinq's War Journals was planned to describe the fall of the Peace Marshals and Devcon's escape from torture at the hands of Cryotek. These were among many ideas that went unrecognized as 3H Productions inched closer to its eventual demise. Devcon's deep-seated anger and hatred of Cyclonus, oddly alluded to throughout Betrayal, subsequently went unexplained.
Universe: The Wreckers
Having recently been discovered by Nightscream, Rav and his fellow Deployers Mol and Dillo were escorting the young Maximal and Optimus Primal back to their hidden base when they were stopped cold by a squad of Vehicon Tank Drones. Things looked grim for the group until Ramulus, Primal Prime and Apelinq arrived and were all super-awesome and unstoppable. The whole group then journeyed underground, where the Oracle gave the gathered Cybertronians their tasks. The shifty Maximal Packrat convinced the Deployers to join up with the Wreckers crew.

The Deployers took part in the later battle for the Autobot shuttle that would take the Wreckers off-planet, fighting through hundreds of Vehicon drones. However, once they were on board and off-planet, the Deployers, Spittor and Sonar were battered insensible by a stowaway, the bounty hunter Devcon. Departure

Things didn't get much better for Rav and crew, as an act of sabotage by Cyclonus sent explosions rocking through the ship. The section the Deployers, Spittor and Sonar were in was jettisoned by Packrat, leaving the five to die a fiery death in deep space. Betrayal
Following a brutal Decepticon attack on the city (in which he was almost killed), Daniel tearfully witnessed the death of Optimus Prime, sobbing on the fallen commander's hand as the color left his corpse. (We forgive Daniel's crying on this occasion, as everyone else cried as well.)

Escaping from a second Decepticon attack, Daniel and a group of Autobots were stranded on Junkion, where Daniel donned his father's old exosuit to weather the harsh environment. He did not get much time to enjoy the suit, as yet another Decepticon assault left Ultra Magnus dead and stirred the native Junkions into violent action. Daniel proved his worth in this battle by smacking Junkion leader Wreck-Gar with an I-beam, saving a prone Springer.

Hostilities with the Junkions were settled with the arrival of Hot Rod and Kup, Ultra Magnus was revived, and a brief celebration was held wherein Daniel showed he could boogey down.

Daniel joined the combined Autobot-Junkion attack force in the assault on Unicron. He was on the ship that plunged into Unicron's eye, and soon became separated from the main Autobot group. As luck would have it, he ended up in Unicron's acid-based digestion center, where he was able to save his father, Bumblebee, Jazz, and Cliffjumper from certain death.

Daniel and the rest soon met up with the other Autobots inside of Unicron. Everything around them was exploding! And then came this Rodimus Prime guy. Spike and Daniel hopped into his front seat, all of the Autobots drove out of Unicron's undamaged eye, through space (!), and back to Cybertron as Unicron blew up. Daniel looked on as Rodimus gave a heroic speech. The Transformers: The Movie
In 2011, Daniel seemed to be somehow regressing in both age and maturity, looking and acting a good deal younger than in the movie or the previous season of the cartoon. He hung out with Wheelie a whole lot more than was probably healthy, and the two shared constant adventures. * In Japanese continuity, it originally was not explained why Daniel did not seem to age between the animated film, which took place in 2005, and their season three, which took place in 2010. To the contrary, in The Headmasters, his mental age seemed to regress. According to the massive timeline featured in Kiss Players, Daniel was in suspended animation in outer space in the interim. As far as retcons go, there have been clunkier.
Daniel Witwicky is the human son of Spike and Carly Witwicky. He is approximately 12 years of age in 2005, and was presumably born sometime between 1990 and 1993. He is the grandson of Sparkplug Witwicky.

Daniel often gets into trouble, which requires either his father or the Autobots to save him. He is very good friends with the Autobots, particularly Wheelie, Grimlock, and Hot Rod, but the one he's closest to is Arcee, who views him as a surrogate son.
Notes
* In Japanese continuity, it originally was not explained why Daniel did not seem to age between the animated film, which took place in 2005, and their season three, which took place in 2010. To the contrary, in The Headmasters, his mental age seemed to regress. According to the massive timeline featured in Kiss Players, Daniel was in suspended animation in outer space in the interim. As far as retcons go, there have been clunkier.
