A great battle between evil and good! Who will reach the cube?

Synopsis
Carter Newell descends further and further into insanity, intent on using the facsimile AllSpark to exterminate all Transformer life, beginning with Optimus Prime and his Autobots. Outside the Initiative base, the Autobots struggle in their battle against the Initiative-controlled Autobots and Decepticons; unable to fight to their fullest extent due to their unwillingness to hurt their friends, they are forced instead to subdue them, allowing Ratchet to cut them off from the controlling energies of the artificial AllSpark.

With the AllSpark entering meltdown due to Carter's misuse of it, Hank Kirkpatrick attempts to stop the madman, only to have Carter blast him with the AllSpark's energies, reducing him to a pile of smoking bones. This horrific sight prompts Carter's niece Ingrid to race to the isolation unit where the mysterious Transformer head held captive by Carter resides, agreeing to liberate the Transformer in order to stop Carter if he explains what is going on. The robot explains that he is a Seeker named Fortress, one of many left abandoned on Earth by The Fallen thousands of years beforehand. In 1929, a reckless contest between Fortress and another Seeker for information on the location of the Tomb of the Primes led to the young Carter Newell's parents being killed in a car crash, and Carter himself being crippled. Carter has hated the Transformers ever since, and has used his parents' wealth to build the Initiative for the goal of destroying them.

Exploiting the chaos of the battle, Soundwave is able to wrest control of Ravage back from the Initiative, and has him deploy the Microcons. Just as Carter is using the power of the AllSpark to inflict pain upon Prime and the Autobots through their very sparks, the tiny robots sneak up behind the human and form Reedman, grievously wounding him before they are destroyed by an AllSpark-powered blast. Believing the AllSpark will heal his wounds in time, Carter disconnects a portion of the mobile base and flees with the cube, only to be pursued by Optimus Prime, Buzzsaw (at Soundwave's command), and Fortress himself, who has been freed by Ingrid and has reconstituted his body from the remains of the abandoned mobile base. Prime is forced to propel Carter's escape vehicle off the road, plucking the cube from the wreckage and attempting to bring it under control by feeding it the energies of his own spark. Carter emerges from the rubble and is about to use the cube to destroy Prime, when he is killed by a cannon barrage from Buzzsaw. At that point, Fortress arrives and convinces Prime to give him the cube, teleporting away with it to some far-off corner of the cosmos, where it explodes harmlessly, taking no lives but Fortress's own.

In the aftermath of the battle, the Autobots and NEST arrest the surviving Initiative personnel and comb through the base's computers, but information on the full extent of Newell's organization and his operations remains elusive. Prime fears that everything Carter did could all happen again...as up in orbit, Soundwave completes his upload of the Initiative's databanks...
Quotes
Errors
*Many Transformers given the wrong colors in this issue. Problems with the Intiative-controlled Transformers are noted below; others include a consistently murky yellow Ratchet, a green Mudflap and a red Skids in the first double page spread, then a green Mudflap and a blue Skids on the last page.

*When he appears in the last few pages of the issue, Buzzsaw has taken on a helicopter alternate mode with no explanation.

Items of note
*As with the previous issue, the Initiative-controlled Transformers are difficult to identify: many of them have been redesigned by artist Carlos Magno into more monstrous forms, as he did with Reverb and Ransack earlier in the series, and the coloring is even worse this time around. Many names in the featured characters list are best guesses—except for Blazemaster, who is the only one named in the script (although his colors oscillate from solid blue to blue with tan accents). A breakdown:
**The blue tank-treaded robot seen in the first double page spread is almost certainly Tankor.
**Brawn is clearly identifiable in this spread also, despite being colored like his Generation 1 predecessor. He is colored entirely green in subsequent pages.
**A black and red stealth-plane Transformer can safely be presumed to be either Skystalker or Mindwipe; we've opted for the former.
**Far off in the distance is a small purple and red Transformer with what seem to be orange shoulder-mounted missile-launchers. He didn't appear in the last issue, and is assuredly miscolored, whoever he is.
**The other two robots in the first spread are a chaotic jumble of green and blue. We theorize the green one to be Armorhide, now drawn based on his Revenge of the Fallen toy, instead of the first toy body seen in the last issue, since he has otherwise disappeared from the comic (and all the other robots from the last issue appear in this one). As for the blue one, he's the other new face who wasn't in the last issue, so, um... Beachcomber?
**The three robots attacking Jolt were colored entirely grey last issue, but two of them have managed to get some color in this one. The one who hasn't is at least immediately recognizable as the jet mold shared by Breakaway and Thrust, and since Breakaway died earlier in this series, we assume this to be Thrust.
**As for Jolt's other two attackers; one now has a splash of green but is otherwise unidentifiable. While not visible in this issue, he was shown with a hook in place of his right hand last issue that makes us think he's Lockdown (who should have some green parts on him). The final 'bot, an unidentifiable jet, is now colored red. The only red 'plane in the Revenge of the Fallen toyline is Divebomb, but this guy looks too sleek to be a biplane.
*Bumblebee did not take part in a battle. He was seen on the last page and the cover.
