Jazz
:Jazz is an Autobot from the brick-based world of Kre-O.

Jazz is a particularly enthusiastic Autobot warrior, and hates that Optimus Prime has to be a killjoy all the time, what with their leader insisting on "restraint" all the time, when he just wants to get out there and fight Decepticons. In his downtime, Jazz enjoys chilling with his crew at the Kreon bloxing clubs and watching demolition derbies. He also likes listening to his favorite tune, "Nothin' But A Bot Thing".

Fiction
Jazz was in the audience of a tag battle pitting Optimus Prime and Bumblebee against Megatron and Starscream. Last Bot Standing He was in the audience of a dance competition too. Bot Stars
Kre-O
* Jazz with Jazz and "Race Driver" Kreons (2011, 122 pieces)
: The Kre-O Jazz set is based primarily on Generation 1 Jazz in deco and headsculpt, but with Movie Jazz's silver coloration. He transforms into a generic sports car that doesn't really look like either Jazz's alternate mode, with opening doors and a flip-up roof. Sadly, neither of these features is actually useful for inserting a driver (the gap left by opening the roof is too small, and the sides are blocked by unfortunately-placed horizontal bars), but at least the thought was there.

: The included Jazz Kreon is based directly on his Generation 1 self, with his characteristic coloration and deco, "door wings," and a light gray gun that resembles a vastly simplified version of his photon rifle. The "Race Driver" Kreon wears a red and light gray racing suit and helmet. The set also includes a light gray baseball cap for the Race Driver, so he doesn't have to wear his helmet all the time. How thoughtful!

: This set shows signs of having been slightly redesigned late in production. Included among the pieces is a red seat which is not used in either mode; there is an obvious place where it "belongs" in the middle of the car's cabin, but it cannot actually fit there due to other parts interfering. (Interestingly enough, a certain other company's equivalent piece will fit, thanks to its slightly different design.) Similarly, there is a black sticker with "vent" detailing which the builder is never instructed to apply anywhere, though according to stock photography it is intended for Jazz's abdomen/pelvis section. Later releases of the set didn't include the seat but still retained the unused sticker.
Kre-O is a new play pattern expression of Hasbro's best brands using quality construction bricks and mini-figurines.
Unveiled at Toy Fair 2011, Transformers was the first Hasbro brand to be released as Kre-O construction brick kits. The kits center around a Transformers character that can be taken apart and reassembled into a vehicle. Mini-figures called Kreons are also included in the larger kits, and these mini-figures are a mix of Transformers characters and human drivers. Prices range from $7.99 to $59.99. The line launched June 6, 2011.

The robot/vehicle kits seem inspired by a mix of Transformers aesthetics, while the Transformers Kreons are strongly based on the Sunbow animation designs. Though most of the toys feature heads designed directly from their Classics/Universe/Generations counterparts, a few kits feature heads taken from other sources, such as Megatron's head inspired by the Cybertronian form of Animated Megatron. And while Sentinel Prime's kit is clearly inspired by his Dark of the Moon appearance, his head takes most of its cues from the vastly different Animated version of the character.

Sets
* Optimus Prime (568 pieces) w/ Optimus Prime, Skywarp, Bluestreak, and two human motorcycle driver Kreons
: Optimus Prime's trailer can stow two motorcycles, which the humans can ride

* Sentinel Prime (381 pieces) w/ Soundwave, Thundercracker, Sentinel Prime, and driver Kreons
: Sentinel Prime can be rebuilt from a red and black Dark of the Moon-inspired robot mode to a fire truck

* Megatron (30668) (310 pieces) w/ Megatron, Shockwave, human "Specialist" and human SWAT "Police" Kreon
: Megatron can be rebuilt into a gray semi-cab, based heavily on his appearance in the live-action movie Dark of the Moon. The robot mode head sculpt and overall robot mode coloration, however, is based on his Transformers: Animated appearance.

* Starscream (30667) (316 pieces) w/ Starscream and human "Pilot" Kreons
: Starscream can transform into a jet somewhat resembling an F-14. His coloration and robot mode are heavily influenced by his original 1984 and Universe (2009) appearance.

* Sideswipe (31771) (220 pieces) w/ Sideswipe and human "Driver" Kreons
: Sideswipe can be rebuilt into a red sportscar that somewhat homages his original Generation One appearance, but with additional detailing very loosely based on some of his movie-incarnation toys.

* Autobot Ratchet (30662) (197 pieces) w/ Ratchet and human "Medic" Kreons
: Ratchet can be rebuilt into an ambulance that strongly resembles his appearance in Transformers: Animated. The robot mode seems to be a mix of his original Generation One appearance as well as his Animated appearance.

* Bumblebee (36421) (336 pieces) w/ Bumblebee, Red Alert, and human "Driver" Kreons
: Bumblebee can be rebuilt into a Camaro-like muscle car, based on the live-action movies. The head sculpt is a mix of Bumblebee's various incarnations. The human "Driver" is strongly reminiscent of Sam Witwicky from the live-action movies.

Basic Series
* Mirage (31145) (119 pieces) w/ Mirage and "Race Driver" Kreons
: Mirage can be rebuilt into an F-1 racer based heavily on Mirage's Generation One appearance.

* Autobot Jazz (31146) (122 pieces) w/ Jazz and human "Race Driver" Kreons
: Jazz can be rebuilt into a silver sports car with red/blue stripes. The primary coloration of the car (silver/gray) is the same as the live-action movie, but the coloring of the trim pieces and additional sticker details are from the original Generation One appearance.

* Prowl (30690) (190 pieces) w/ Prowl and human "SWAT Commander" Kreons
: Prowl can be rebuilt into a white police car with black trim, strongly reminiscent of his original incarnation in Generation One.

Promotional Series
* Smaller Optimus Prime (31143) (90 pieces)
: Optimus can be rebuilt into a flat-nosed semi-tractor strongly reminiscent of his appearance of the Classics toyline. This kit does not include a Kreon.

* Smaller Bumblebee (31144) (74 pieces)
: Bumblebee can be rebuilt into a small sports coupe. Does not include a Kreon. This form is based most heavily on Bumblebee's appearance in the Classics toyline.

* Matrix Optimus Prime Kreon
: Promotional item given at Botcon 2011. Redeco of Optimus Prime Kreon showing the Matrix of Leadership.
* Destruction Site Devastator (36914) (? pieces) w/ Devastator, Ironhide, human "Foreman" and three human "Construction Worker" Kreons
: A "9 in 1" set that includes Scrapper, Drill Bit, Scavenger and Hightower, each of whom can be rebuilt from construction vehicles into robots, or combined into the super robot Devastator. Devastator takes cues from both his Generation 1 and Revenge of the Fallen incarnations. The set also contains a buildable "construction site" play environment.

* Decepticon Ambush (36954) (80 pieces) w/ Cliffjumper and three Vehicon Kreons
: This set includes an Autobot all-terrain vehicle that can be rebuilt as a robot drone and a (very) small buildable "Decepticon checkpoint" play environment.

: This set includes a Decepticon motorcycle that can be rebuilt as a robot drone and a (very) small buildable "Autobot roadblock" play environment.

* Rotor Rage (36959) (217 pieces) w/ Vortex, human "Commando" and human "ATV Driver" Kreons
: This set features Vortex, who can be built as a robot or a helicopter, as well as a small red all-terrain vehicle.

* Street Showdown (38771) (273 pieces) w/ Wheeljack, Knock Out, and two human "Driver" Kreons
: Wheeljack and Knock Out can each be built as a car or a robot. The mock-up packaging at Toy Fair identifies Knock Out as an Autobot, but he and Wheeljack are fighting anyway.

* Battle for Energon (98812) (379 pieces) w/ Optimus Prime, Megatron, human "Security Guard" and human "Bank Robber" Kreons
: Optimus Prime and Megatron battle around a buildable "bank" play environment in this set. Optimus can be rebuilt as his conventional longnose semi cab mode, whereas Megatron can now be rebuilt as a Cybertronic battle tank. The Optimus and Megatron Kreons included in this set are more Prime-styled than their previous figures.

* Stealth Bumblebee (98814) (257 pieces) w/ Bumblebee, human "Driver", and two human "Security Guard" Kreons
: Stealth Bumblebee features a small robot-to-muscle car Bumblebee in his black-with-yellow "Stealth" coloration, as well as a buildable "military checkpoint" play environment and a bright green Decepticon motorcycle. The Bumblebee Kreon in this set is much more Prime-styled than the previous one. The set also for some reason includes a bulldog (Bonecrusher?).

* Kreon Hound
: Shown loose at Botcon 2011, no indication on how he'll be released.
Notes
* While the Kre-O bricks and such are compatible with L bricks, take care with mixing Kreon and Minifigure parts, particularly helmets. Full-coverage Kreon helmets like Optimus Prime's and Soundwave's are a bit tight, and getting a L Minifigure head out of them is exceedingly difficult. They'll pop off the neck before the helmet relinquishes the head. Open-face helmets like Starscream's, where you can get a "grip" on the head with the pad of your finger, should be fine.

* Smaller Optimus Prime (31143) (90 pieces)
: Optimus can be rebuilt into a flat-nosed semi-tractor strongly reminiscent of his appearance of the Classics toyline. This kit does not include a Kreon.

* Smaller Bumblebee (31144) (74 pieces)
: Bumblebee can be rebuilt into a small sports coupe. Does not include a Kreon. This form is based most heavily on Bumblebee's appearance in the Classics toyline.

* Matrix Optimus Prime Kreon
: Promotional item given at Botcon 2011. Redeco of Optimus Prime Kreon showing the Matrix of Leadership.
comingsoontoy

* Cycle Chase (?, mock-up packaging shows 36954) (77 pieces) w/ Barricade and three Autobot Trooper Kreons

* Kreon Hound
* Apparently, Kre-O bricks are manufactured by Korean toy company Oxford.
Human Alliance is an assortment introduced in the Revenge of the Fallen toyline. The Transformers in this assortment are accurate scale recreations of licensed vehicles with operating doors and realistic interiors. These sets also include a human/humanoid figure who can sit inside the alternate mode or be attached to one of several positions on the robot mode. There is also a weapon accessory for the human to operate in this mode.

The Human Alliance toys continued through the 2010 Transformers line, and was expanded to include smaller, triple-changing vehicles for Dark of the Moon.
Notes
*Human Alliance Arcee was purposefully designed to look like another motorcycle that Mikaela briefly used in Revenge of the Fallen, and as a result, doesn't look much like herself. Chromia uses Arcee's actual design in both modes, only in blue.
*Due to the enormous workload the TakaraTomy designers were under, Shogo Hasui was by default the one assigned to present a proof-of-concept prototype for the Human Alliance subset. He rapidly created the proof-of-concept model using a 2007 Transformers Voyager class Ratchet toy with a new shoulder (that turned into a seat for the human passenger in either mode), a new left forearm (which turned into a motorcycle) and a new gigantic weapons array. He revealed that the line's requirements stated that the robot modes only needed to have a passing resemblance to the movie design, jokingly stating that he had "accidentally" created a well-made Bumblebee robot mode.
*Ironhide and Ratchet would have been the next Human Alliance figures after Bumblebee, but this was changed to Sideswipe and Skids due to the large size of Ironhide and Ratchet's vehicle modes.
*The relatively small sizes of Skids and Mudflap was the main reason for the inclusion of Arcee and Chromia.
*Hisashi Yuki took over the Human Alliance line after Bumblebee.
*Since when is Frenzy a human? Mind you, 'Humanoid Alliance' doesn't roll off the tongue so well.
*The Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes figures included in the 2010 Transformers lineup are entirely new sculpts compared to the figures from the Revenge of the Fallen assortment. They're slightly smaller and thus in line with the Lennox figure available with Jazz, who is also smaller than Sideswipe's Epps.
The DOTM Human Alliance toys also have the smaller human figures, so it appears this will be the new standard. Unfortunately, all of the basic transformers were designed to match the original human scale, as evident in their box art, so the new smaller humans all look like their riding oversized vehicles.
*Although the smaller triple-changers are referred to as Basic figures, a tag previously given to the Scout size class or the one between Legends and Scouts, most of the figures are on par with the smaller DOTM Deluxes. The exception is Tailpipe, who is Scout-sized, due to the inclusion of Pinpointer.
One of the younger Nebulans to binary bond to a Transformer, Haywire is very much of the "act first, think later"-impulsive-teenage mold. In that respect, the relationship between Haywire and his partner Blurr is one where they get on like a house on fire, but also a classic example of the lack of planning in the early stages of Targetmasters bonding for how effective a combat team they would make. Transforming into an electro-laser cannon, Haywire is just as hyperactive as his partner in combat, often more concerned with how often he fires than where he's aiming or how effective his shots are.

TOCclear

Fiction
Marvel Comics continuity
Haywire was among those Nebulans who joined the Autobots and binary-bonded to Transformers—in his case, Blurr—to defend his planet from the Decepticon forces, first seeing action in the Autobots' unsuccessful defense of the Nursery. Shortly afterwards, the Autobot forces fled to join those on Earth in an attempt to lure their enemies away and save Nebulos from further harm. Brothers in Armor!!

Haywire and Blurr went along with the other Autobot Targetmasters selected to accompany Fortress Maximus to Earth to rescue Buster Witwicky, brother of the newly binary-bonded Spike Witwicky, who proceeded to introduce his team to his father. The group's rescue attempt at the Decepticons island base was ultimately unsuccessful. The Desert Island of Space!
A member of Gort's group of freedom fighters, Haywire took part in an ambush to capture beings whom the Nebulans assumed were Hive machines. He was quick to notice that the machines had humans with them and, as it turned out, the machines were actually heroic Autobots. Haywire mused aloud that if they had the physical power of the Autobots, the Hive machines would be no problem. The Rebirth, Part 1

When the Autobots stole Targetmaster technology from the Decepticons, Haywire volunteered to be binary bonded to Blurr. He greeted the Autobot leader Optimus Prime to Nebulos by boasting about his ability to hit a target from a distance of four thousand yards. The Rebirth, Part 2 Like the other Nebulans, he traveled to Cybertron with the Autobots, and helped to close the Plasma Energy Chamber and bring a new Golden Age to the planet. Afterward, they returned to Nebulos to rid the planet of the Hive's machines. The Rebirth, Part 3

: Haywire was first released in 1987, boxed with the Targetmaster version of Blurr; he is a small humanoid in robot armor that transforms into an "electro-laser cannon". Like most Targetmaster weapons, his transformation is simple; just fold his legs up, and the barrels of his gun form are revealed. Haywire could be placed in either of Blurr's hands or in a plug just in front of his windshield. This resulted in a noticeable difference between Blurr's Targetmaster mold and his earlier release: his hands and chestpiece needed to be retooled to add peg-holes large enough to accommodate his new partner.

the real-world toyline

Power Core Combiners is a toyline, released concurrently with the 2010 Transformers and Generations toylines.

The design of the toys relies heavily on the titular gimmick, combination. Every main character is a "Commander" sold with either a Mini-Con (which connects in several configurations) or a set of four drone vehicles (which connect as limbs to form a larger robot). The Mini-Cons and drones can be attached to any Commander, leading to millions of possible combinations between all of the figures.

Unlike the Mini-Cons of previous lines, the Power Core Combiner Mini-Cons lack their own independent vehicle or animal modes. Rather, they turn from robots into accessories for their Commanders. In vehicle mode, a Commander can use a Mini-Con as a weapon or tool. In robot mode, a Commander can wield a Mini-Con as a hand-held weapon or wear him as armor.

The drones are similar to Energon Optimus Prime's "Prime Force", being vehicles with no robot modes. While the drones are left/right interchangeable, an arm-drone cannot become a leg-drone (or vice versa) making them more limited than the Prime Force drones. However, the fact that there are several teams of drones who can be swapped among Commanders adds a Scramble-City-esque dimension of play. Also, people who love Transformers but hate transforming can breathe easy in the knowledge that the drones automorph into and out of limb mode simply by being plugged into and removed from a Commander.

Fictionally, the Power Core Combiners are not strictly connected to any other continuity, although Smolder and Chopster have made an appearance in the Movie continuity via Cyber Missions.

Fiction
The toys' packaging presents a simple storyline about Power Core Combination technology being found on Earth. A more robust account was published in the Collectors' Club magazine #32. As of yet there has been no narrative fiction, only summaries and bios.

Place in continuity
As for which larger continuity family (if any) this fits into, clues are scant and contradictory. The strongest evidence appears to suggest the live-action film series:
* The storyline blurb on the packaging references "monsters like Devastator" in terms that best match the live-action version.
* Salvage's bio is fairly explicit that he is his movie counterpart , even referencing his origin as an Mutation.
* Smolder has made an appearance in movie-related fiction.
* Icepick received a new toy in the Dark of the Moon toyline.

However, other elements seem to hint towards Generation 1:
* Huffer's bio says that he's "just as inclined to grumble as he's ever been," implying that he is a preexisting, familiar character. There are only a few Huffers, and this points pretty clearly to the original.
* While less explicit, several characters have bios that are too similar to same-named characters in the Generation 1 continuity family to be a coincidence. Leadfoot is good at infiltrating Decepticon bases, Sledge is noted for his loyalty and love of destruction, Icepick wants to scrap the obsolete, and Stakeout is a former loose cannon cop on the edge who has since mellowed out. Compare this to what Sea Spray got.

Hasbro's official stance on the matter is that Power Core Combiners are not tied to any particular continuity family. This is in keeping with the company's recent apparent reluctance to tie its toylines to specific universes, and can be interpreted as "both," "neither," or not actually even an answer. Any conclusions are up to the reader to make.

Toys
Power Core Combiners
Commander 2-packs
Each 2-pack contains a roughly-Scout-class-sized Commander figure as well as a partner Mini-Con.

Commanders transform from a robot to vehicle mode, as well as a "power up" torso-mode that can be combined with any of the drone sets from the 5-packs (see below). Commanders also have standard Mini-Con Powerlinx plugs, so they are compatible with any Mini-Cons, not just their pack-in partners.

Mini-Cons have multiple configurations to enhance their larger partners. Each one transforms from a robot to "armor" that any Commander can use (though with limited usefulness on the 5-pack Commander molds due to placement of their Powerlinx plugs). They also have weapon modes; most have separate configurations for Commanders' robot and alternate modes, though a few only really have one that works on both.

Wave 1
* Huffer (semi cab) and Caliburst (anti-aircraft cannon/rifle)
* Searchlight (rescue helicopter) and Backwind (winch/rifle)
* Smolder (fire department brush truck) and Chopster (flamethrower/axe)

Wave 2
* Icepick (arctic vehicle) and Chainclaw (missile launcher)
* Leadfoot (F1 racer) and Pinpoint (engine-cannon/rifle)
* Sledge (rockwheel trencher construction vehicle) and Throttler (drill)

Wave 3
* Windburn (rescue helicopter) and Darkray (anti-aircraft cannon/rifle)
* Darkstream (stealth jet) and Razorbeam (cannon/axe)
* Steelshot (cannon truck) and Beacon (winch/rifle)

Wave 4
* Heavytread (tank) and Groundspike (mine plow/claw)
* Skyhammer (fighter jet) and Airlift (gun emplacement)

Wave 5
* Undertow (speedboat) and Waterlog (gun emplacement)
* Salvage (monster truck) and Bomb-Burst (missile launcher)

5-packs
Each 5-pack contains a Commander and four drone-units.

Unlike the Commanders designed for the 2-packs, most (if not all) of the Commanders designed originally for the 5-packs do not have Powerlinx hardpoints that normally function for the 2-pack Mini-Cons' armor modes while in their standard Commander robot modes. However, these Commanders' power up modes allow for the proper placement of their Powerlix hardpoints.

The drones each automatically transform into a super-robot limb when they are attached to the bright blue connector points on any Commander's "power up" mode, and snap back to drone-mode once removed. Arm-drones and leg-drones cannot swap functions; they can be attached to each others' connection points, but arms will always be arms and legs will always be legs. Each drone also has Mini-Con Powerlinx hardpoints.

Wave 1
* Bombshock (cannon truck) with Combaticon drones
* Skyburst (stealth jet) with Aerialbots drones

Wave 2
* Double Clutch (sports car) with Rallybot drones
* Mudslinger (monster truck) with Destructicon drones

* Stakeout (fire response truck) with Protectobot drones
* Crankcase (semi cab) with Destron drones

Wave 4
* Steamhammer (bulldozer) with Constructicon drones
* Grimstone (Styracosaurus) with Dinobot drones

Wave 5
* Over-Run (F1 racer) with Stunticon drones
