Even though he's now a ranking Autobot security officer, '''Ironhide''' is just a country boy at heart. Though his ability to encase his superstructure in a near-indestructible alloy meant he rose through the ranks in the military service quickly, he never quite lost the "awe-shucks" demeanor he picked up as a [[protoform]] in a rural prefecture of [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]. Now going to strange places, meeting strange mechanoids, and getting shot at by them, he still finds himself wide-eyed at some of the stranger things in the galaxy. He's got a mischievous streak, though his pranks often seem a bit crude to more cultured bots.

Ironhide fell in with [[Wasp]] from day one of boot camp, the both of them having high hopes for the [[Cybertron Elite Guard]]. The big, strong, tall, and young tough Autobot cadet was an early favorite of [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Minor]], who was duly impressed by his retractable armor. When resident screwup [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] kept getting the unit more chores and exercises as punishment, he and Wasp took it upon themselves to let the little yellow Autobot know of their displeasure frequently and in no uncertain terms. {{storylink|Autoboot Camp}}

Years later, Ironhide was stationed at the Autobot colonies on the galactic rim, under [[Rodimus Prime (Animated)|Rodimus Prime's]] command. {{storylink|TransWarped}}

He contacted [[Ultra Magnus (Animated)|Ultra Magnus]] and revealed the Decepticons had begun an uprising, destroying a [[space bridge]] in the process. Before he could reveal all the details however, his transmission was cut short by the attack. {{storylink|Mission Accomplished}}

A later attack saw him go up against [[Strika (Animated)|Strika's]] squad; while his armour held off her firepower, [[Oil Slick (Animated)|Oil Slick]] and [[Cyclonus (Animated)|Cyclonus]] eventually took him down. {{storylink|TransWarped}}

When news reached Cybertron that [[Shockwave (Animated)|Longarm Prime]] was really the traitor and not Wasp, Security Officer Ironhide searched the planet to apprehend him. It features a new head to more closely match the character. Ironhide's vehicle mode is a futuristic man-sized Cybertronian minibus. He comes with two "hammer hand" accessories which peg over his fists, and his right fist punches forward when a tab on his elbow is pushed. These "hammer hands" plug into the rear of his vehicle mode and feature a metallic silver paint job. At BotCon, Hasbro explained 'Either Ironhide got a new head, or [[Wasp]] did.' They went with the former. Good choice. The explosion caused by the destruction of the [[Vok]] [[Planet Buster]] sent all stasis pods crashing to Earth. Some pods' scanners were damaged in the shock wave and eventual crash-landing, resulting in the Fuzors, a blend of two beast forms and the advanced Transmetal technology. One of these Fuzors was the winged wolf Silverbolt, while his neighbor was the violent, psychotic cobra-scorpion [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]], who immediately picked a fight with the peaceful Silverbolt upon their activation. The fight was interrupted by [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]], who tricked both Fuzors and recruited them into the Predacons. Silverbolt felt the faction's activation code and Megatron's orders to attack the passing [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] to be distasteful (seeing how the cat had not attacked them), earning furious punishment from the Predacon leader. Silverbolt and [[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]] were sent on to attack the ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]'' directly, only for Silverbolt to be shot down by the ship's auto-guns. To his surprise, the Maximals took him back to their base for repairs, rather than finish him off. Soon afterwards, while on patrol with the much more laid-back [[Rattrap]] (who spent a lot of the time pointedly ignoring Silverbolt's lines of honor and virtue), Silverbolt encountered the alluring Blackarachnia when [[Tarantulas (BW)|Tarantulas]] and Quickstrike were attempting to set up a forward base. She was somewhat surprised by his complete refusal to strike her simply because she was a female and used it to her advantage to attack him. During another mission, Silverbolt was shot down by Waspinator, who was prevented from taking the Maximal away by Rattrap. Silverbolt was able to return to base to fetch Optimus, and the pair were in time to prevent Dinobot, who had attempted to defect back to the Predacons, from being slagged by Megatron. {{storylink|Maximal, No More}} Silverbolt and Optimus arrived at an alien site unfortunately much too late to prevent [[Tigatron]] and [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]] from being abducted. The discovery of a stasis pod containing [[Rampage (BW)|Protoform X]] led Silverbolt to once again encounter the dark temptress Blackarachnia, who was less than amused that he refused to fight her. After an energon explosion blasted them both across the jungle, damaging Silverbolt's wings, they were forced to journey together by foot. Silverbolt saved Blackarachnia from a saber-toothed tiger, and she in turn saved him from a nasty fall, however he was unable to get her admit there was any sort of Maximal goodness lurking within her. They soon encountered Protoform X, and Blackarachnia helped the Maximals defeat it, but was knocked off the cliff. Silverbolt once again came to her rescue, despite her protests that she didn't need help. {{storylink|Bad Spark}}

Though not having known Dinobot for long, Silverbolt took part in his funeral. {{storylink|Code of Hero}} While searching for a Predacon jamming tower, Silverbolt protected a stasis pod from [[Inferno (BW)|Inferno]]. The pod contained a strange mutated Transformer which would later be dubbed [[Transmutate (character)|Transmutate]]. Silverbolt appealed to Transmutate that the Maximals offered it friendship, however Transmutate fell in with the Predacons, swayed by Rampage. Transmutate led Silverbolt into a trap, allowing Rampage and Inferno to damage the Fuzor, but joined the Maximals following a rescue mounted by Optimus. Though the other Maximals wanted to put Transmutate into stasis lock, Silverbolt argued strongly against it. After Transmutate was accidentally destroyed by Rampage and Silverbolt who were fighting over the creature, Silverbolt was anguished, and told the other Maximals to leave Rampage to mourn. {{storylink|Transmutate (episode)|Transmutate}}

Silverbolt found himself reluctantly sneaking off to meet with Blackarachnia, providing her with a [[graviton generator]] for the hoversled she was building. Despite his secrecy, the other Maximals seemed all aware of what he was up to, with Rattrap insinuating all sorts of activities. The Maximals were joined by a Predacon secret agent, [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]], who invited them to help him capture Megatron. During their attack on the ''Darksyde'', Silverbolt again refused to attack Blackarachnia, allowing her to leave the field of battle, much to Primal's annoyance. {{storylink|The Agenda (Part 1)}}

Though Cheetor was assigned the task of bringing Blackarachnia in, Silverbolt rendered his fellow Maximal unconscious, himself going to find Blackarachnia. Locating her in pursuit of Waspinator, he pleaded with her to join the Maximals, and refused to leave until she did, even after she shot him in the thigh. While they were distracted, the hoversled hit Waspinator, forcing Silverbolt to once again save a disgusted Blackarachnia. {{storylink|The Agenda (Part 2)}} He subsequently aided her in digging into the side of a [[Mount St. Hilary|mountain]], to discover within the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]]. Soon after, when [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] was injured enough to cause a time storm, Blackarachnia and Silverbolt used the Ark's systems to start repairs on the [[Prime (rank)|Autobot leader]]. Silverbolt helped his fellow Maximals defend the Ark against Megatron and, a short time later, stumbled on Blackarachnia who had been shot by the Predacon leader during his escape. Silverbolt cradled Blackarachnia in his arms, delivering a long melodramatic speech and howling when she went offline... only for the others to point out that she was just in [[stasis lock]] and would be fine once she got some repairs. With the loss of the ''Axalon'', the Maximals moved in to the cavern housing the Ark. {{storylink|Optimal Situation}}

He and Blackarachnia would hang out on sentry duty together. {{storylink|Deep Metal}} Sent on another mission, Silverbolt delivered Rattrap in a [[subaquatic stealth vessel]] to salvage [[Sentinel (BW)|Sentinel]] from the remains of the ''Axalon''. Though Rattrap retrieved the module, the pair ran into trouble in the form of the Predacons, and were ultimately prevented from getting away clean when they literally ran into [[Depth Charge (BW)|Depth Charge]]. {{storylink|Changing of the Guard}}

When Cheetor seemed to be developing a crush on Blackarachnia, Silverbolt made no secret of his jealously, especially when the pair were assigned a mission together without him. Cheetor and Blackarachnia quickly got into danger, attacked by Tarantulas and some [[cyber raptor]]s, and naturally Silverbolt was first to come to their aid. {{storylink|Cutting Edge}} Cheetor would later go missing after a dangerous mission with Depth Charge. Though he joined in the search, Silverbolt was jealous at Blackarachnia's apparent concern for their comrade. Confronted by a feral beast, Silverbolt and Rattrap were surprised to be told by Primal that it was Cheetor, upgraded into a [[Transmetal 2]] form by Megatron's [[transmetal driver]]. {{storylink|Feral Scream Part 2}}

The Maximals investigated the possibility of removing Blackarachnia's Predacon shell program, causing her to flee into the woods. Silverbolt convinced Rattrap not to tell the others, so he could find her personally, only to get in the middle of a fight between Blackarachnia and [[Dinobot II|Dinobot]]. Though he and Blackarachnia managed to defeat Dinobot, she was still determined to leave the Maximals, until they revealed that the decision to go through with the procedure to remove her shell program was up to her. {{storylink|Proving Grounds}}

Silverbolt interrupted Blackarachnia during an experiment she was attempting to undergo in order to convert herself into a Transmetal 2. The failure of the experiment caused her shell program to degrade, leading the Maximals to attempt the tricky procedure of removing it. Disruption caused by the Predacons caused Blackarachnia's death, and an enraged Silverbolt set out to dismantle Taratulas in retaliation. Though he swiftly defeated Tarantulas, Silverbolt was brought down by Rampage, who was about to finish off the Maximal when a revived and upgraded Blackarachnia arrived to rescue her boyfriend. When Waspinator mounted a solo attack on the Ark, Silverbolt was his only casualty. The attack was simply a diversion to allow Tarantulas to deliver a device to put Quickstrike in control of Optimus Primal. The other Maximals ended up locked in a cage, bar Blackarachnia, who was able to rescue them so that they could help fight off Megatron, who had upgraded himself by stealing the spark of the original [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]]. {{storylink|Master Blaster}}

Following the destruction of the Predacon base, Silverbolt and Depth Charge searched for the Predacons by air. They found their foe, however Depth Charge set off a boobytrap, which damaged Silverbolt. Despite his protests that it was merely a scratch, the fact that his head fell off severely undermined his argument, and Silverbolt found himself being escorted back to base for repairs. {{storylink|Nemesis Part 1}} He was repaired in time to help the other Maximals attempt to get the Ark moving before Megatron arrived with the newly-discovered ''[[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]''. Not long after Megatron combined his spark with that of the original Megatron, he had Quickstrike plant a device in the Maximal base. The device magnified the Maximals' aggression, and Silverbolt was soon trying to stop Rhinox from mangling Blackarachnia. After Optimus intervened, Silverbolt attacked him and was thrown aside, as Primal too succumbed to the device's effects. Luckily the Maximal leader was able to use his recent experiences to overcome the device and free the other Maximals, and they then chased Megatron off. {{storylink|A Meeting of Minds}}

Blackarachia was trying to persuade Silverbolt that it was all right for them to resume their romance after Megatron's apparent death, when they were attacked by a strange zombie-like creature. When the Autobot shuttle crash-landed, the Maximals split up. Silverbolt went with Rhinox and Blackarachnia. They ran into some tank drones, who used the de-evolving virus on Blackarachnia. Rhinox had to drag Silverbolt away. They met up with Rattrap, who was being chased by some more tank drones that infected them with the same virus. Because they weren't Transmetals, Rhinox and Silverbolt were paralyzed and their sparks taken out.

When the Maximals found themselves back on [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] running for their lives from armies of [[Vehicon (BM)|Vehicon drones]], their memories of their past had been tampered with. Even [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] could not remember Silverbolt fully until she hacked into the memory backup on their ship. {{storylink|Fires of the Past}}

Blackarachnia began to suspect that Silverbolt's [[Spark|spark]] might be inside one of the [[Vehicon general|Vehicon generals]]. At first, she erroneously thought it was within [[Thrust (BM)|Thrust]], but after a mishap with some technorganic goop, Silverbolt's spark was proven to be inside [[Jetstorm (BM)|Jetstorm]] (and Thrust turned out to be [[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]], whose amorous advances were tragically spurned by the arachnid chick). For a precious few moments, Silverbolt's consciousness was completely awoken within Jetstorm's body, reverting him to his old personality, until the goop was absorbed completely and Jetstorm's [[Shell program|shell program]] reasserted itself. {{storylink|The Catalyst}}

Obsessed with bringing Silverbolt back, she hounded Jetstorm, demanding he remember their shared love and return to the Maximals. Needless to say, Jetstorm was vexed by this. When [[Rattrap]] created a gizmo that would help them transfer the stolen Transformer sparks into new bodies, Blackarachnia stole it. Leading Jetstorm into the planet's organic core, she attached the gizmo to his back and trapped the Vehicon in a pool of the technorganic goop with her webs. After much screaming, reformatting, and brilliant light, Silverbolt was reborn as a condor, having scanned skeletal remains inside the cavern in the process.

Counter to Blackarachnia's expectations, Silverbolt was not pleased. Gone was the Maximal who exemplified honor and chivalry, replaced with one who desired only retribution and vengeance. "I was a fool back then," he once said. "I ''believed'' in things." Distraught, Blackarachnia managed to convince him to come along with her to help rescue [[Optimus Primal]] and [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] from inside [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]]'s [[Grand Mal|Big Floating Head]], but Silverbolt did not accompany her for their friends, as he was not interested in them. He went to confront Megatron.

Megatron, seeing that his General had been reformatted into a Maximal, tried to seduce Silverbolt back to his side. Silverbolt was told he was a creature of honor who fought for just causes, and that Megatron gave Silverbolt not only a just cause (the technological purity of Cybertron), but also the power and strength to fight for that cause. Blackarachnia countered at every point, pleading with Silverbolt to remember their love and friendship. Silverbolt ignored her, bitterly retorting that Megatron had given him ''nothing''. With nearly insane fury, he let loose a volley of feather bombs, disrupting Megatron from within. Cheetor and Primal were rescued, and Silverbolt was dragged away from the battle.

Slightly calmed, Silverbolt was later approached by Blackarachnia. He confided in her the real reason for his anger: it was not what Megatron had done to him, but that he'd been freed from his code of honor and ''enjoyed'' the experience. He did not trust himself any longer. This did not deter Blackarachnia. She believed, no matter what, that Silverbolt had goodness in his heart. {{storylink|In Darkest Knight}}

Silverbolt's return to the Maximals was not without its hiccups, however. When he formally returned to the group, Megatron used giant mechanical drill-tentacles to damage the city and get the Maximals' attention... as well as activate a new strain of the ancient [[Hate Plague]] virus hidden in Silverbolt. After infecting everyone and nearly scrapping each other, they managed to cure themselves. Silverbolt was bummed about being used, but Optimus gave him a pat on the shoulder and said "Hakuna matata". When a spaceship was shot down and crashed into the city, Silverbolt was teamed with [[Nightscream (BM)|Nightscream]] to reach it from the air, and he had to endure the young Maximal's harsh words and attitude, brought on by the Hate Plague incident. Silverbolt fought against the [[Botanica (BM)|crazed space plant]] on the shuttle, then against a horde of Tank Drones in their underground base, and his actions finally allowed Nightscream to warm up to him. {{storylink|Home Soil}}

After a battle against Thrust and his cycle drones, Silverbolt chewed Blackarachnia out for losing focus during the battle. Though they were joined by the other Maximals, the Vehicon generals out-thought them at every turn, and they were only saved when Botanica intervened. However, what appeared to be celebratory fireworks struck Silverbolt and Blackarachnia and also the five Autobots. They were transported to the firey [[Pit]] deep within [[Unicron]], where all but Trailbreaker were rebuilt painfully into new bodies. Silverbolt was piece-by-piece reassembled into a version of his

Though they fought, they were overwhelmed and taken into a nearby arena, the [[Cauldron]], where they were caged along with a multitude of Transformers kidnapped from across the multiverse. Silverbolt believed he recognized some of their jailers, such as variant versions of [[Tankor (BM)|Tankor]] and [[Obsidian (BM)|Obsidian]], but the being he thought was [[Tigerhawk]] wanted Silverbolt to know that he was, in fact, [[Razorclaw (Universe)|Razorclaw]]! The three (and [[Reptilion]]) were from different universes, and they oversaw the battles that took place within the Cauldron. Here, Silverbolt would fight and die, his extinguished spark meant to feed the damaged Chaos Bringer. {{storylink|Abduction}}

As Sunstreaker and Sideswipe battled, Silverbolt noticed another intruder within the Cauldron - Optimus Primal! Could it be? Silverbolt and Trailbreaker used this distraction to hatch an escape plan. Freeing the others, they and Optimus Primal rushed the guards and headed back outside of the arena. Later that night, Leo had dragged Sam to a fraternity party, where the wayward Witwicky became engrossed in writing [[Cyberglyphics]] symbols in the cake frosting. This caught Alice's eye, and she decided she simply ''had'' to strike up a conversation with the boy who'd just accidentally stuck chocolate frosting in his ear. Though Sam protested against her rather forceful advances, she ignored his pleas until her attempt at seduction was interrupted by the timely arrival of [[Bumblebee (Movie)|Bumblebee]] on the [[Delta Fraternity|fraternity house's]] lawn. Sam appeared grateful for the reprieve until Alice invited herself for a ride. Bumblebee tried his best to monkey-wrench her attempts at conversation with Sam during the ride, but eventually got frustrated and went the expedient route of dousing her in antifreeze. Alice got out and left in a huff.

Later on, Alice made her way to Sam's dorm room to talk to him without the meddling yellow one around. She icily ignored him, finding the true object of her desires when the dorm room's door was opened to reveal Sam, who had covered every flat surface in it with Cyberglyphic symbols. Leo, figuring out what was to come next, asked if he could at least watch. Alice summarily shut the door in his face. Once again giving Sam the hard-sell, she forced him onto the bed and began probing his oral region with her tongue. Meanwhile, an entirely different probing appendage snaked out from beneath her skirt. Stealthily retracting the metallic tentacle when [[Mikaela Banes]] burst in, Alice waited until the human had left, and then proceeded to extrude it again and wrap it about Sam's neck, closing off his windpipe. Mikaela returned, hearing Sam's strangled cries, and dislodged Alice by throwing the toolbox containing [[Wheelie (ROTF)|Wheelie]] at her. Leo returned at this point, only to flee as Alice transformed into a robotic war machine!

Ironfist was born before the war began, and first laid eyes on the Decepticon badge just three days before [[Zeta Prime]] was killed. Eventually Ironfist's systems rebooted, and he immediately tried to downplay his reaction. But after some prodding from Guzzle, Ironfist resigned himself to an explanation. He revealed himself as Fisitron, the famous Wreckers historian and fanboy. As Ironfist began rambling, [[Topspin (G1)|Topspin]] and [[Twin Twist]] were amused to hear that their files were classified. On the way to [[Garrus-9]], the ship encountered [[Impactor]], who had just escaped from the prison. Ironfist and the other new recruits were forced to wait around in another room as Springer and Ultra Magnus questioned the Wreckers' former leader. They passed the time speculating on why Impactor was kicked out of the Wreckers and locked-up after a certain incident on [[Pova]]. Ironfist deeply believed that the "official" reason given for Impactor's incarceration was a cover-up, but he couldn't speculate on what had actually occurred. Later on, Ironfist was tasked with replacing Impactor's missing right hand. He rigged-up a harpoon-launching substitute for the former leader of the Wreckers, but decided not to take the opportunity to question Impactor on the real reason he was imprisoned. Soon thereafter, Springer held a briefing and revealed that [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]] had taken over Garrus-9 and was using it as his personal playground. In addition to liberating the place from Overlord and rescuing the Autobot prisoners still trapped within, Springer also announced a secondary objective. That was to secure something code-named "[[Aequitas]]", which was secreted somewhere deep within Garrus-9.

Once the plan to breach Garrus-9's defenses had been finalized, Ironfist gifted Guzzle and Pyro with cerebro-sensitive bullets he had brought along, much to Guzzle's delight. Ultra Magnus and Springer reviewed the security logs and noted Ironfist's previous blackout with some concern. Upon arriving at their destination, the Wreckers were split between two entry pods and launched from Ultra Magnus' ship. Ironfist's group consisted of [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]], Topspin, Pyro, Rotorstorm, and Verity, who had stowed away without anyone's knowledge. The pods breached Garrus-9's defenses and the pod containing Ironfist landed smack-dab in the middle of the "Pit"—Overlord's makeshift arena. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 2|Last Stand of the Wreckers #2}}

Ironfist and the others found themselves surrounded by dozens of Decepticons and Overlord himself. Rotorstorm tried to make light of the tense situation with a little joke, which no one save Overlord laughed at. Unfortunately, Overlord then showed his "appreciation" for Rotorstorm's sense of humor by blowing a hole in the Autobot's head. Perceptor ordered Pyro to protect Verity as he, Ironfist, and Topspin lunged for Overlord, but the three Wreckers were completely physically-outmatched by the Decepticon powerhouse.

Upon hearing from [[Stalker (G1)|Stalker]] that there were Wreckers in another part of Garrus-9 as well, Overlord broadcast a message across the entire prison, saying that any Decepticon that brought him the head of a Wrecker would be allowed to leave. It was apparently a very enticing offer, as the mob of Decepticons that had been watching nearby surged towards Ironfist and company. Perceptor managed to delay their advance by sniping a spare fuel tank they had brought along, and the Wreckers took the opportunity to dash away.

Once there was a bit of distance between them and the Decepticons, Ironfist sagged against a wall, head in his hands. The shock of Rotorstorm's death was setting in, and Perceptor tried to calmly urge him on. But Ironfist's illusions of being a Wrecker had been shattered by what he had witnessed just minutes before. He was in it for the dramatic heroics and adventures-he hadn't expected such a display of raw violence and gore. Topspin angrily slammed him against a wall and pointed out that while Guzzle, Pyro, and Rotorstorm were all officially voted into the Wreckers, there had been no such distinction for Ironfist. Topspin labeled him a glorified tag-along and told him that "people die in stupid, pointless ways. Deal with it." Ironfist snapped out of his funk and furiously told Topspin not to lecture ''him'' about death. Perceptor broke it up and told them they couldn't afford to get personal at the moment.

Soon, they found the chamber in which Aequitas was stored. Perceptor ordered Ironfist to stand guard as he attempted to breach the door. The stripped-down and ravaged form of [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]] was discovered plugged into it. While Pyro and Topspin disconnected Maximus from the door, Perceptor entered the proper codes to open the chamber. Ironfist quickly caught up with them to warn that the Decepticons were close to breaching the outer doors, but the Aequitas chamber had been opened by this point. The Wreckers walked in as Perceptor revealed Aequitas to them {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 3|Last Stand of the Wreckers #3}} and revealed their mission was to download all the information stored within its hard drive and make sure the Decepticons didn't get their hands on it.

When Topspin complained about this, Ironfist abruptly agreed and started to claim they should go. At that moment, Topspin began suffering the effects of vicarious perception, as his sibling Twin Twist was being tortured somewhere else in Garrus-9. Perceptor told Ironfist and Verity to watch over Topspin as he and Pyro worked on finding an access port for Aequitas.

Hearing the Decepticons still trying to breach the door from outside, Verity asked Ironfist to talk to her about something- anything to keep her mind off their predicament. Ironfist complied, telling her what he'd read about the Wreckers' showdown on Pova with [[Squadron X]]. Perceptor called for everyone to gather by the Aequitas console, informing them of the supercomputer's "suicide lock" and how it could only be bypassed by someone willingly offering up their own spark to the machine. Through process of elimination, Ironfist glumly realized it could only be himself or Pyro, the "second-stringers". Pyro adamantly refused to be the sacrifice, claiming that his life was ultimately the more valuable. Verity angrily told Pyro that Ironfist had as much right to live as he did. Ironfist lost his temper, but after a moment, he decided he was ready to die after all, just as he'd agreed with Prowl. But before Ironfist could do so, Topspin stepped up to the console and plugged himself in, killing both Jumpstarters and allowing Perceptor to log in.

Ironfist was selected by Perceptor to receive the contents of Aequitas' hard drive for safekeeping. Now having access to all of Aequitas' prisoner files, the full extent of Impactor's crime was revealed to Ironfist. As the Decepticons outside had almost breached the door, Perceptor revealed he could use Aequitas to activate the deterrence chips in the ex-prisoners' heads to kill them all. Pyro pointed out that this would also trigger the chip in Impactor's head. Perceptor put it to a vote, with Pyro voting against. Verity made an impassioned plea to Ironfist and Perceptor, pointing out that no matter what Impactor did, the Wreckers as chronicled by Fisitron's datalogs would never take this course of action. Perceptor decided Verity was right and they would do things "the old fashioned way". Pyro volunteered to hold the mob of Decepticons off while the others escaped. Ironfist and Pyro shared a moment of understanding before they left him to his fate.

Ironfist told Perceptor that they had to stop by Garrus-9's weapon stores before joining the others, as he had a good idea. Verity asked Ironfist if Pyro could hold out for long, and Ironfist assured her that he would put up a good fight. Verity then asked Ironfist what he had learned about Impactor from the Aequitas download. Ironfist told her the truth about Pova, and Impactor's crimes.

They arrived at the battle just in time to save Springer from Overlord. Ironfist tossed Springer a giant gun procured from the weapon stores, and Springer emptied it into Overlord. Overlord promptly ripped his face off. He followed by blasting Perceptor, leaving just Ironfist and Verity. Ironfist warned the Decepticon to stay back; He had loaded the Gatling gun given to Springer with deterrence chips, which had now all been injected into Overlord. Since he had the whole of Aequitas in his head, he could remotely control all deterrence chips with his mind. With a mental command, Ironfist detonated the chips in Overlord, but suddenly clutched his head in pain and collapsed, suffering another blackout.

Ironfist came back online to find Overlord defeated, with Verity promising to fill him in later. Unfortunately, Ironfist died en-route to [[Earth]] from a mechanical aneurysm. When [[Magnum]] stumbled across him during an unscheduled review of his factory, Ironfist was trying to put together a replica of the astoundingly complex [[BAMF-12702]]. Ironfist was fast-tracked to the [[Elite Guard]] and put on [[Metalhawk]]'s team. Now a trained munitions expert, he proved skilled with explosives, though his simple beginnings kept him from grasping even the basic tenants of battlefield strategy. Metalhawk's team partnered with [[Thunder Clash|Thunderclash]]'s team to face a plague of [[Virulent Clone]]s. Ironfist's explosives were particularly effective against their foes, though his fellow Elite Guardsman [[Dion]] was often covered in Insecticon goo as a result. He liked to call Dion "sailor," even though Dion kept reminding him that prior to the war he worked on the docks, not the ships. Ultimately, the Elite Guard was victorious over the Virulent Clones.

The two squads relaxed for a moment until Thunderclash received a call from [[Magnum]], ordering Metalhawk's squad to ferry Thunderclash's to [[Space Port Bravo]]. The two squads then packed their gear onto the ''[[Hawk's Claw]]'' and headed out. Once at the spaceport, the two squads said their goodbyes, with Ironfist getting all emotional and foggy-opticed.

Afterward, [[Over-Run (G1)|Over-Run]] wondered out loud to the rest of the squad where they'd end up next. When Dion commented that he was eager to beat up some Decepticons, Over-Run asked chastisingly if Dion had ever seen a Decepticon up close before. Both Over-Run and Ironfist were puzzled by Dion stalking off angrily in response, with Ironfist wondering out loud if Dion ''had'' seen one before.

The squad soon re-boarded their ship and headed to Elite Guard HQ, where they found out that their next assignment was going to involve Magnum's [[Combaticon (G1)|newest special ops group]]. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 2}}

These "Combaticons" joined Ironfist's group for debriefing on their trek to [[Median]]. It sounded like a boring mission, basically a peace exercise to placate the civilian council. Ironfist stopped paying attention during the discussion of Median's purpose, something about "deectology", but perked up suddenly when the topic of mining with explosives was broached.

Luckily(?), Median turned out to be more the Elite Guard's sort of mission than they originally thought. One of the relics uncovered in the dig was an urn containing the so-called "[[Heart of the Dragon]]". Based on the tech-specs recovered along with the urn, it apparently contained the [[laser core]] for a living weapon of ultimate potential, and had already come to the attention of some renegade Decepticons known as the [[Stormtrooper (G1)|Stormtrooper]]s, who were caught casing the joint a few cycles earlier.

The Guardsmechs set up a perimeter in preparation for enemy invasion, and split into two squads to engage the intruders. Ironfist was teamed with [[Onslaught (G1)|Onslaught]] and the Combaticons, along with their security liaison, [[Strika (BM)|Strika]]. They secured [[Roadgrabber]], the advance guard, but [[Rage]] and his Stormtroopers got past Metalhawk's Squad B, so Ironfist's squad prepared to repel them. Once they got in visible range, however, only half the Stormtroopers were present -- they were using [[sensor ghost]]s to fool the Elite Guards ranged scans. With two Decepticons unaccounted for, Onslaught dispatched Ironfist and [[Vortex (G1)|Vortex]] back to the urn chamber as a rear guard. The urn chamber was already raided, however, and Ironfist was caught off-guard by [[Aquablast]]'s chemical cannon, and sent into temporary [[stasis lock]] for the duration of the battle.

After he recovered, the Autobots set off across the landscape to catch up with the Stormtroopers. They made their way inside the [[Metrotitan (Zone)|Metrotitan]], Rage's mobile fortress, only to be confronted by a creature known as [[Brimstone (Universe)|Brimstone]]. Rage had transplanted the laser-core into a small exo-frame for testing, creating a tiny dragon whose bite WAS bigger than his bark, and could decouple atoms to boot. The Elite Guard commenced a tactical advance to the rear with all due haste. Despite the urgency of the situation, Ironfist gleefully responded when Onslaught issued the greatest order he'd ever heard: ''"Ironfist, get all of your explosives ready."'' Several pretty colors and one large boom later, though, Brimstone was slightly charred, significantly angrier, but otherwise no worse for the wear. Ironfist and the others eventually escaped the Metrotitan only with the assistance of [[Drench (G1)|Drench]], one of the Stormtroopers who wanted out, just before Brimstone's power overloaded completely, destroying the Metrotitan.

Following the mission, Magnum was comparing incident reports back at base and noted that Ironfist's contained only a single sentence. (Likely submission: ''"Thee explosion could've beeeen biggah."'') {{storylink|Flames of Yesterday}}

Ironfist's team and the Combaticons continued working together over the following weeks, and Ironfist got another chance to blast off his arsenal during the mission against [[Shadowcaster]]. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 3}} Immediately the Combaticons disappeared, and Ironfist's team was ordered to try to hunt them down wherever they may be. Their search took them into some very unglamorous places, where the team was approached by a demented Empty which spoke cryptically of a "coming storm" where "rain will fall down" and the "thunder will deafen you" and where the "lightning will burn." After a bit of this, Ironfist's team grew weary of the Empty and left him.

But the Empty spoke true. Sentinel Major sent their team a distress call, as their Elite Guard headquarters was under attack. Metalhawk ordered his team back to base, where they met up with [[Ricochet (Timelines)|Ricochet]] on the outer skirts of the battle. He showed them a video feed of the battle's epicenter, where, bogglingly, the Combaticons had switched their allegiance to the Decepticons and had sieged the Elite Guard. Something about the Combaticons looked a little different than before, and, sure enough, the reason for this was revealed when the five of them combined for the first time into the super robot [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]], crushing Sentinel Major to death in his mighty fist. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 5}}

Metalhawk led Iron and the others deep into the battle to assist the dwindling members of the Elite Guard. Ironfist broke ranks and plunged ahead, weapons blazing, despite Metalhawk's pleas. No matter what the odds, Bruticus was going to pay for murdering Ironfist's friends, some of whom he even liked! In vehicle mode, he ramped up an inclined piece of debris into the super robot's chest, knocking the monster down. But Bruticus was quicker than Ironfist reckoned, and his giant fist closed in on the Autobot before he could flee. Ironfist was granted a temporary reprieve from death when Over-Run and his remote helicopter drone distracted Bruticus, but Ironfist refused to retreat to safety, believing his [[lightformer cannon]] had been granted an opening to fire on their huge opponent. Ironfist was born before the war began, and first laid eyes on the Decepticon badge just three days before [[Zeta Prime]] was killed. Eventually Ironfist's systems rebooted, and he immediately tried to downplay his reaction. But after some prodding from Guzzle, Ironfist resigned himself to an explanation. He revealed himself as Fisitron, the famous Wreckers historian and fanboy. As Ironfist began rambling, [[Topspin (G1)|Topspin]] and [[Twin Twist]] were amused to hear that their files were classified. On the way to [[Garrus-9]], the ship encountered [[Impactor]], who had just escaped from the prison. Ironfist and the other new recruits were forced to wait around in another room as Springer and Ultra Magnus questioned the Wreckers' former leader. They passed the time speculating on why Impactor was kicked out of the Wreckers and locked-up after a certain incident on [[Pova]]. Ironfist deeply believed that the "official" reason given for Impactor's incarceration was a cover-up, but he couldn't speculate on what had actually occurred. Later on, Ironfist was tasked with replacing Impactor's missing right hand. He rigged-up a harpoon-launching substitute for the former leader of the Wreckers, but decided not to take the opportunity to question Impactor on the real reason he was imprisoned. Soon thereafter, Springer held a briefing and revealed that [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]] had taken over Garrus-9 and was using it as his personal playground. In addition to liberating the place from Overlord and rescuing the Autobot prisoners still trapped within, Springer also announced a secondary objective. That was to secure something code-named "[[Aequitas]]", which was secreted somewhere deep within Garrus-9.

Once the plan to breach Garrus-9's defenses had been finalized, Ironfist gifted Guzzle and Pyro with cerebro-sensitive bullets he had brought along, much to Guzzle's delight. Ultra Magnus and Springer reviewed the security logs and noted Ironfist's previous blackout with some concern. Upon arriving at their destination, the Wreckers were split between two entry pods and launched from Ultra Magnus' ship. Ironfist's group consisted of [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]], Topspin, Pyro, Rotorstorm, and Verity, who had stowed away without anyone's knowledge. The pods breached Garrus-9's defenses and the pod containing Ironfist landed smack-dab in the middle of the "Pit"—Overlord's makeshift arena. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 2|Last Stand of the Wreckers #2}}

Ironfist and the others found themselves surrounded by dozens of Decepticons and Overlord himself. Rotorstorm tried to make light of the tense situation with a little joke, which no one save Overlord laughed at. Unfortunately, Overlord then showed his "appreciation" for Rotorstorm's sense of humor by blowing a hole in the Autobot's head. Perceptor ordered Pyro to protect Verity as he, Ironfist, and Topspin lunged for Overlord, but the three Wreckers were completely physically-outmatched by the Decepticon powerhouse.

Upon hearing from [[Stalker (G1)|Stalker]] that there were Wreckers in another part of Garrus-9 as well, Overlord broadcast a message across the entire prison, saying that any Decepticon that brought him the head of a Wrecker would be allowed to leave. It was apparently a very enticing offer, as the mob of Decepticons that had been watching nearby surged towards Ironfist and company. Perceptor managed to delay their advance by sniping a spare fuel tank they had brought along, and the Wreckers took the opportunity to dash away.

Once there was a bit of distance between them and the Decepticons, Ironfist sagged against a wall, head in his hands. The shock of Rotorstorm's death was setting in, and Perceptor tried to calmly urge him on. But Ironfist's illusions of being a Wrecker had been shattered by what he had witnessed just minutes before. He was in it for the dramatic heroics and adventures-he hadn't expected such a display of raw violence and gore. Topspin angrily slammed him against a wall and pointed out that while Guzzle, Pyro, and Rotorstorm were all officially voted into the Wreckers, there had been no such distinction for Ironfist. Topspin labeled him a glorified tag-along and told him that "people die in stupid, pointless ways. Deal with it." Ironfist snapped out of his funk and furiously told Topspin not to lecture ''him'' about death. Perceptor broke it up and told them they couldn't afford to get personal at the moment.

Soon, they found the chamber in which Aequitas was stored. Perceptor ordered Ironfist to stand guard as he attempted to breach the door. The stripped-down and ravaged form of [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]] was discovered plugged into it. While Pyro and Topspin disconnected Maximus from the door, Perceptor entered the proper codes to open the chamber. Ironfist quickly caught up with them to warn that the Decepticons were close to breaching the outer doors, but the Aequitas chamber had been opened by this point. The Wreckers walked in as Perceptor revealed Aequitas to them {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 3|Last Stand of the Wreckers #3}} and revealed their mission was to download all the information stored within its hard drive and make sure the Decepticons didn't get their hands on it.

When Topspin complained about this, Ironfist abruptly agreed and started to claim they should go. At that moment, Topspin began suffering the effects of vicarious perception, as his sibling Twin Twist was being tortured somewhere else in Garrus-9. Perceptor told Ironfist and Verity to watch over Topspin as he and Pyro worked on finding an access port for Aequitas.

Hearing the Decepticons still trying to breach the door from outside, Verity asked Ironfist to talk to her about something- anything to keep her mind off their predicament. Ironfist complied, telling her what he'd read about the Wreckers' showdown on Pova with [[Squadron X]]. Perceptor called for everyone to gather by the Aequitas console, informing them of the supercomputer's "suicide lock" and how it could only be bypassed by someone willingly offering up their own spark to the machine. Through process of elimination, Ironfist glumly realized it could only be himself or Pyro, the "second-stringers". Pyro adamantly refused to be the sacrifice, claiming that his life was ultimately the more valuable. Verity angrily told Pyro that Ironfist had as much right to live as he did. Ironfist lost his temper, but after a moment, he decided he was ready to die after all, just as he'd agreed with Prowl. But before Ironfist could do so, Topspin stepped up to the console and plugged himself in, killing both Jumpstarters and allowing Perceptor to log in.

Ironfist was selected by Perceptor to receive the contents of Aequitas' hard drive for safekeeping. Now having access to all of Aequitas' prisoner files, the full extent of Impactor's crime was revealed to Ironfist. As the Decepticons outside had almost breached the door, Perceptor revealed he could use Aequitas to activate the deterrence chips in the ex-prisoners' heads to kill them all. Pyro pointed out that this would also trigger the chip in Impactor's head. Perceptor put it to a vote, with Pyro voting against. Ironfist, the truth revealed to him, threw his vote in with Perceptor. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 4|Last Stand of the Wreckers #4}}

Verity made an impassioned plea to Ironfist and Perceptor, pointing out that no matter what Impactor did, the Wreckers as chronicled by Fisitron's datalogs would never take this course of action. Perceptor decided Verity was right and they would do things "the old fashioned way". Pyro volunteered to hold the mob of Decepticons off while the others escaped. Ironfist and Pyro shared a moment of understanding before they left him to his fate.

Ironfist told Perceptor that they had to stop by Garrus-9's weapon stores before joining the others, as he had a good idea. Verity asked Ironfist if Pyro could hold out for long, and Ironfist assured her that he would put up a good fight. Verity then asked Ironfist what he had learned about Impactor from the Aequitas download. Ironfist told her the truth about Pova, and Impactor's crimes.

They arrived at the battle just in time to save Springer from Overlord. Ironfist tossed Springer a giant gun procured from the weapon stores, and Springer emptied it into Overlord. Overlord promptly ripped his face off. He followed by blasting Perceptor, leaving just Ironfist and Verity. Ironfist warned the Decepticon to stay back; He had loaded the Gatling gun given to Springer with deterrence chips, which had now all been injected into Overlord. Since he had the whole of Aequitas in his head, he could remotely control all deterrence chips with his mind. With a mental command, Ironfist detonated the chips in Overlord, but suddenly clutched his head in pain and collapsed, suffering another blackout.

Ironfist came back online to find Overlord defeated, with Verity promising to fill him in later. Unfortunately, Ironfist died en-route to [[Earth]] from a mechanical aneurysm. Ironfist was fast-tracked to the [[Elite Guard]] and put on [[Metalhawk]]'s team. Now a trained munitions expert, he proved skilled with explosives, though his simple beginnings kept him from grasping even the basic tenants of battlefield strategy. Metalhawk's team partnered with [[Thunder Clash|Thunderclash]]'s team to face a plague of [[Virulent Clone]]s. Ironfist's explosives were particularly effective against their foes, though his fellow Elite Guardsman [[Dion]] was often covered in Insecticon goo as a result. He liked to call Dion "sailor," even though Dion kept reminding him that prior to the war he worked on the docks, not the ships. Ultimately, the Elite Guard was victorious over the Virulent Clones.

The two squads relaxed for a moment until Thunderclash received a call from [[Magnum]], ordering Metalhawk's squad to ferry Thunderclash's to [[Space Port Bravo]]. The two squads then packed their gear onto the ''[[Hawk's Claw]]'' and headed out. Once at the spaceport, the two squads said their goodbyes, with Ironfist getting all emotional and foggy-opticed.

Afterward, [[Over-Run (G1)|Over-Run]] wondered out loud to the rest of the squad where they'd end up next. When Dion commented that he was eager to beat up some Decepticons, Over-Run asked chastisingly if Dion had ever seen a Decepticon up close before. Both Over-Run and Ironfist were puzzled by Dion stalking off angrily in response, with Ironfist wondering out loud if Dion ''had'' seen one before.

The squad soon re-boarded their ship and headed to Elite Guard HQ, where they found out that their next assignment was going to involve Magnum's [[Combaticon (G1)|newest special ops group]]. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 2}}

These "Combaticons" joined Ironfist's group for debriefing on their trek to [[Median]]. It sounded like a boring mission, basically a peace exercise to placate the civilian council. Ironfist stopped paying attention during the discussion of Median's purpose, something about "deectology", but perked up suddenly when the topic of mining with explosives was broached.

Luckily(?), Median turned out to be more the Elite Guard's sort of mission than they originally thought. One of the relics uncovered in the dig was an urn containing the so-called "[[Heart of the Dragon]]". Based on the tech-specs recovered along with the urn, it apparently contained the [[laser core]] for a living weapon of ultimate potential, and had already come to the attention of some renegade Decepticons known as the [[Stormtrooper (G1)|Stormtrooper]]s, who were caught casing the joint a few cycles earlier.

The Guardsmechs set up a perimeter in preparation for enemy invasion, and split into two squads to engage the intruders. Ironfist was teamed with [[Onslaught (G1)|Onslaught]] and the Combaticons, along with their security liaison, [[Strika (BM)|Strika]]. They secured [[Roadgrabber]], the advance guard, but [[Rage]] and his Stormtroopers got past Metalhawk's Squad B, so Ironfist's squad prepared to repel them. Once they got in visible range, however, only half the Stormtroopers were present -- they were using [[sensor ghost]]s to fool the Elite Guards ranged scans. With two Decepticons unaccounted for, Onslaught dispatched Ironfist and [[Vortex (G1)|Vortex]] back to the urn chamber as a rear guard. The urn chamber was already raided, however, and Ironfist was caught off-guard by [[Aquablast]]'s chemical cannon, and sent into temporary [[stasis lock]] for the duration of the battle.

After he recovered, the Autobots set off across the landscape to catch up with the Stormtroopers. They made their way inside the [[Metrotitan (Zone)|Metrotitan]], Rage's mobile fortress, only to be confronted by a creature known as [[Brimstone (Universe)|Brimstone]]. Rage had transplanted the laser-core into a small exo-frame for testing, creating a tiny dragon whose bite WAS bigger than his bark, and could decouple atoms to boot. The Elite Guard commenced a tactical advance to the rear with all due haste. Despite the urgency of the situation, Ironfist gleefully responded when Onslaught issued the greatest order he'd ever heard: ''"Ironfist, get all of your explosives ready."'' Several pretty colors and one large boom later, though, Brimstone was slightly charred, significantly angrier, but otherwise no worse for the wear. Ironfist and the others eventually escaped the Metrotitan only with the assistance of [[Drench (G1)|Drench]], one of the Stormtroopers who wanted out, just before Brimstone's power overloaded completely, destroying the Metrotitan.

Ironfist's team and the Combaticons continued working together over the following weeks, and Ironfist got another chance to blast off his arsenal during the mission against [[Shadowcaster]]. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 3}} Immediately the Combaticons disappeared, and Ironfist's team was ordered to try to hunt them down wherever they may be. Their search took them into some very unglamorous places, where the team was approached by a demented Empty which spoke cryptically of a "coming storm" where "rain will fall down" and the "thunder will deafen you" and where the "lightning will burn." After a bit of this, Ironfist's team grew weary of the Empty and left him.

But the Empty spoke true. Sentinel Major sent their team a distress call, as their Elite Guard headquarters was under attack. Metalhawk ordered his team back to base, where they met up with [[Ricochet (Timelines)|Ricochet]] on the outer skirts of the battle. He showed them a video feed of the battle's epicenter, where, bogglingly, the Combaticons had switched their allegiance to the Decepticons and had sieged the Elite Guard. Something about the Combaticons looked a little different than before, and, sure enough, the reason for this was revealed when the five of them combined for the first time into the super robot [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]], crushing Sentinel Major to death in his mighty fist. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 5}}

Metalhawk led Iron and the others deep into the battle to assist the dwindling members of the Elite Guard. Ironfist broke ranks and plunged ahead, weapons blazing, despite Metalhawk's pleas. No matter what the odds, Bruticus was going to pay for murdering Ironfist's friends, some of whom he even liked! In vehicle mode, he ramped up an inclined piece of debris into the super robot's chest, knocking the monster down. But Bruticus was quicker than Ironfist reckoned, and his giant fist closed in on the Autobot before he could flee. Ironfist was granted a temporary reprieve from death when Over-Run and his remote helicopter drone distracted Bruticus, but Ironfist refused to retreat to safety, believing his [[lightformer cannon]] had been granted an opening to fire on their huge opponent. Ironfist was born before the war began, and first laid eyes on the Decepticon badge just three days before [[Zeta Prime]] was killed. Ironfist was practically beside himself when he identified Kup, but [[Verity Carlo]] noted that Kup "changes his oil like everyone else." And while Springer began to brief them, Ironfist fainted.

Eventually Ironfist's systems rebooted, and he immediately tried to downplay his reaction. But after some prodding from Guzzle, Ironfist resigned himself to an explanation. He revealed himself as Fisitron, the famous Wreckers historian and fanboy. As Ironfist began rambling, [[Topspin (G1)|Topspin]] and [[Twin Twist]] were amused to hear that their files were classified. On the way to [[Garrus-9]], the ship encountered [[Impactor]], who had just escaped from the prison. Ironfist and the other new recruits were forced to wait around in another room as Springer and Ultra Magnus questioned the Wreckers' former leader. They passed the time speculating on why Impactor was kicked out of the Wreckers and locked-up after a certain incident on [[Pova]]. Ironfist deeply believed that the "official" reason given for Impactor's incarceration was a cover-up, but he couldn't speculate on what had actually occurred. Later on, Ironfist was tasked with replacing Impactor's missing right hand. He rigged-up a harpoon-launching substitute for the former leader of the Wreckers, but decided not to take the opportunity to question Impactor on the real reason he was imprisoned. Soon thereafter, Springer held a briefing and revealed that [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]] had taken over Garrus-9 and was using it as his personal playground. In addition to liberating the place from Overlord and rescuing the Autobot prisoners still trapped within, Springer also announced a secondary objective. That was to secure something code-named "[[Aequitas]]", which was secreted somewhere deep within Garrus-9.

Once the plan to breach Garrus-9's defenses had been finalized, Ironfist gifted Guzzle and Pyro with cerebro-sensitive bullets he had brought along, much to Guzzle's delight. Ultra Magnus and Springer reviewed the security logs and noted Ironfist's previous blackout with some concern. Upon arriving at their destination, the Wreckers were split between two entry pods and launched from Ultra Magnus' ship. Ironfist's group consisted of [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]], Topspin, Pyro, Rotorstorm, and Verity, who had stowed away without anyone's knowledge. The pods breached Garrus-9's defenses and the pod containing Ironfist landed smack-dab in the middle of the "Pit"—Overlord's makeshift arena. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 2|Last Stand of the Wreckers #2}}

Ironfist and the others found themselves surrounded by dozens of Decepticons and Overlord himself. Rotorstorm tried to make light of the tense situation with a little joke, which no one save Overlord laughed at. Unfortunately, Overlord then showed his "appreciation" for Rotorstorm's sense of humor by blowing a hole in the Autobot's head. Perceptor ordered Pyro to protect Verity as he, Ironfist, and Topspin lunged for Overlord, but the three Wreckers were completely physically-outmatched by the Decepticon powerhouse.

Upon hearing from [[Stalker (G1)|Stalker]] that there were Wreckers in another part of Garrus-9 as well, Overlord broadcast a message across the entire prison, saying that any Decepticon that brought him the head of a Wrecker would be allowed to leave. It was apparently a very enticing offer, as the mob of Decepticons that had been watching nearby surged towards Ironfist and company. Perceptor managed to delay their advance by sniping a spare fuel tank they had brought along, and the Wreckers took the opportunity to dash away.

Once there was a bit of distance between them and the Decepticons, Ironfist sagged against a wall, head in his hands. The shock of Rotorstorm's death was setting in, and Perceptor tried to calmly urge him on. But Ironfist's illusions of being a Wrecker had been shattered by what he had witnessed just minutes before. He was in it for the dramatic heroics and adventures-he hadn't expected such a display of raw violence and gore. Topspin angrily slammed him against a wall and pointed out that while Guzzle, Pyro, and Rotorstorm were all officially voted into the Wreckers, there had been no such distinction for Ironfist. Topspin labeled him a glorified tag-along and told him that "people die in stupid, pointless ways. Deal with it." Ironfist snapped out of his funk and furiously told Topspin not to lecture ''him'' about death. Perceptor broke it up and told them they couldn't afford to get personal at the moment.

Soon, they found the chamber in which Aequitas was stored. Perceptor ordered Ironfist to stand guard as he attempted to breach the door. The stripped-down and ravaged form of [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]] was discovered plugged into it. While Pyro and Topspin disconnected Maximus from the door, Perceptor entered the proper codes to open the chamber. Ironfist quickly caught up with them to warn that the Decepticons were close to breaching the outer doors, but the Aequitas chamber had been opened by this point. The Wreckers walked in as Perceptor revealed Aequitas to them {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 3|Last Stand of the Wreckers #3}} and revealed their mission was to download all the information stored within its hard drive and make sure the Decepticons didn't get their hands on it.

When Topspin complained about this, Ironfist abruptly agreed and started to claim they should go. At that moment, Topspin began suffering the effects of vicarious perception, as his sibling Twin Twist was being tortured somewhere else in Garrus-9. Perceptor told Ironfist and Verity to watch over Topspin as he and Pyro worked on finding an access port for Aequitas.

Hearing the Decepticons still trying to breach the door from outside, Verity asked Ironfist to talk to her about something- anything to keep her mind off their predicament. Ironfist complied, telling her what he'd read about the Wreckers' showdown on Pova with [[Squadron X]]. Perceptor called for everyone to gather by the Aequitas console, informing them of the supercomputer's "suicide lock" and how it could only be bypassed by someone willingly offering up their own spark to the machine. Through process of elimination, Ironfist glumly realized it could only be himself or Pyro, the "second-stringers". Pyro adamantly refused to be the sacrifice, claiming that his life was ultimately the more valuable. Verity angrily told Pyro that Ironfist had as much right to live as he did. Ironfist lost his temper, but after a moment, he decided he was ready to die after all, just as he'd agreed with Prowl. But before Ironfist could do so, Topspin stepped up to the console and plugged himself in, killing both Jumpstarters and allowing Perceptor to log in.

Ironfist was selected by Perceptor to receive the contents of Aequitas' hard drive for safekeeping. Now having access to all of Aequitas' prisoner files, the full extent of Impactor's crime was revealed to Ironfist. As the Decepticons outside had almost breached the door, Perceptor revealed he could use Aequitas to activate the deterrence chips in the ex-prisoners' heads to kill them all. Pyro pointed out that this would also trigger the chip in Impactor's head. Perceptor put it to a vote, with Pyro voting against. Ironfist, the truth revealed to him, threw his vote in with Perceptor. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 4|Last Stand of the Wreckers #4}}

Verity made an impassioned plea to Ironfist and Perceptor, pointing out that no matter what Impactor did, the Wreckers as chronicled by Fisitron's datalogs would never take this course of action. Perceptor decided Verity was right and they would do things "the old fashioned way". Pyro volunteered to hold the mob of Decepticons off while the others escaped. Ironfist and Pyro shared a moment of understanding before they left him to his fate.

Ironfist told Perceptor that they had to stop by Garrus-9's weapon stores before joining the others, as he had a good idea. Verity asked Ironfist if Pyro could hold out for long, and Ironfist assured her that he would put up a good fight. Verity then asked Ironfist what he had learned about Impactor from the Aequitas download. Ironfist told her the truth about Pova, and Impactor's crimes.

They arrived at the battle just in time to save Springer from Overlord. Ironfist tossed Springer a giant gun procured from the weapon stores, and Springer emptied it into Overlord. Overlord promptly ripped his face off. He followed by blasting Perceptor, leaving just Ironfist and Verity. Ironfist warned the Decepticon to stay back; He had loaded the Gatling gun given to Springer with deterrence chips, which had now all been injected into Overlord. Since he had the whole of Aequitas in his head, he could remotely control all deterrence chips with his mind. With a mental command, Ironfist detonated the chips in Overlord, but suddenly clutched his head in pain and collapsed, suffering another blackout.

Ironfist came back online to find Overlord defeated, with Verity promising to fill him in later. Unfortunately, Ironfist died en-route to [[Earth]] from a mechanical aneurysm. Metalhawk's team partnered with [[Thunder Clash|Thunderclash]]'s team to face a plague of [[Virulent Clone]]s. Ironfist's explosives were particularly effective against their foes, though his fellow Elite Guardsman [[Dion]] was often covered in Insecticon goo as a result. He liked to call Dion "sailor," even though Dion kept reminding him that prior to the war he worked on the docks, not the ships. Ultimately, the Elite Guard was victorious over the Virulent Clones.

The two squads relaxed for a moment until Thunderclash received a call from [[Magnum]], ordering Metalhawk's squad to ferry Thunderclash's to [[Space Port Bravo]]. The two squads then packed their gear onto the ''[[Hawk's Claw]]'' and headed out. Once at the spaceport, the two squads said their goodbyes, with Ironfist getting all emotional and foggy-opticed.

Afterward, [[Over-Run (G1)|Over-Run]] wondered out loud to the rest of the squad where they'd end up next. When Dion commented that he was eager to beat up some Decepticons, Over-Run asked chastisingly if Dion had ever seen a Decepticon up close before. Both Over-Run and Ironfist were puzzled by Dion stalking off angrily in response, with Ironfist wondering out loud if Dion ''had'' seen one before.

The squad soon re-boarded their ship and headed to Elite Guard HQ, where they found out that their next assignment was going to involve Magnum's [[Combaticon (G1)|newest special ops group]]. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 2}}

These "Combaticons" joined Ironfist's group for debriefing on their trek to [[Median]]. It sounded like a boring mission, basically a peace exercise to placate the civilian council. Ironfist stopped paying attention during the discussion of Median's purpose, something about "deectology", but perked up suddenly when the topic of mining with explosives was broached.

Luckily(?), Median turned out to be more the Elite Guard's sort of mission than they originally thought. One of the relics uncovered in the dig was an urn containing the so-called "[[Heart of the Dragon]]". Based on the tech-specs recovered along with the urn, it apparently contained the [[laser core]] for a living weapon of ultimate potential, and had already come to the attention of some renegade Decepticons known as the [[Stormtrooper (G1)|Stormtrooper]]s, who were caught casing the joint a few cycles earlier.

The Guardsmechs set up a perimeter in preparation for enemy invasion, and split into two squads to engage the intruders. Ironfist was teamed with [[Onslaught (G1)|Onslaught]] and the Combaticons, along with their security liaison, [[Strika (BM)|Strika]]. They secured [[Roadgrabber]], the advance guard, but [[Rage]] and his Stormtroopers got past Metalhawk's Squad B, so Ironfist's squad prepared to repel them. Once they got in visible range, however, only half the Stormtroopers were present -- they were using [[sensor ghost]]s to fool the Elite Guards ranged scans. With two Decepticons unaccounted for, Onslaught dispatched Ironfist and [[Vortex (G1)|Vortex]] back to the urn chamber as a rear guard. The urn chamber was already raided, however, and Ironfist was caught off-guard by [[Aquablast]]'s chemical cannon, and sent into temporary [[stasis lock]] for the duration of the battle.

After he recovered, the Autobots set off across the landscape to catch up with the Stormtroopers. They made their way inside the [[Metrotitan (Zone)|Metrotitan]], Rage's mobile fortress, only to be confronted by a creature known as [[Brimstone (Universe)|Brimstone]]. Rage had transplanted the laser-core into a small exo-frame for testing, creating a tiny dragon whose bite WAS bigger than his bark, and could decouple atoms to boot. The Elite Guard commenced a tactical advance to the rear with all due haste. Despite the urgency of the situation, Ironfist gleefully responded when Onslaught issued the greatest order he'd ever heard: ''"Ironfist, get all of your explosives ready."'' Several pretty colors and one large boom later, though, Brimstone was slightly charred, significantly angrier, but otherwise no worse for the wear. Ironfist and the others eventually escaped the Metrotitan only with the assistance of [[Drench (G1)|Drench]], one of the Stormtroopers who wanted out, just before Brimstone's power overloaded completely, destroying the Metrotitan.

Following the mission, Magnum was comparing incident reports back at base and noted that Ironfist's contained only a single sentence. (Likely submission: ''"Thee explosion could've beeeen biggah."'') {{storylink|Flames of Yesterday}}

Ironfist's team and the Combaticons continued working together over the following weeks, and Ironfist got another chance to blast off his arsenal during the mission against [[Shadowcaster]]. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 3}} Immediately the Combaticons disappeared, and Ironfist's team was ordered to try to hunt them down wherever they may be. Their search took them into some very unglamorous places, where the team was approached by a demented Empty which spoke cryptically of a "coming storm" where "rain will fall down" and the "thunder will deafen you" and where the "lightning will burn." After a bit of this, Ironfist's team grew weary of the Empty and left him.

But the Empty spoke true. Sentinel Major sent their team a distress call, as their Elite Guard headquarters was under attack. Metalhawk ordered his team back to base, where they met up with [[Ricochet (Timelines)|Ricochet]] on the outer skirts of the battle. He showed them a video feed of the battle's epicenter, where, bogglingly, the Combaticons had switched their allegiance to the Decepticons and had sieged the Elite Guard. Something about the Combaticons looked a little different than before, and, sure enough, the reason for this was revealed when the five of them combined for the first time into the super robot [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]], crushing Sentinel Major to death in his mighty fist. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 5}}

Metalhawk led Iron and the others deep into the battle to assist the dwindling members of the Elite Guard. Ironfist broke ranks and plunged ahead, weapons blazing, despite Metalhawk's pleas. No matter what the odds, Bruticus was going to pay for murdering Ironfist's friends, some of whom he even liked! In vehicle mode, he ramped up an inclined piece of debris into the super robot's chest, knocking the monster down. But Bruticus was quicker than Ironfist reckoned, and his giant fist closed in on the Autobot before he could flee. Ironfist was granted a temporary reprieve from death when Over-Run and his remote helicopter drone distracted Bruticus, but Ironfist refused to retreat to safety, believing his [[lightformer cannon]] had been granted an opening to fire on their huge opponent. Ironfist was born before the war began, and first laid eyes on the Decepticon badge just three days before [[Zeta Prime]] was killed. He took his first life before the war officially started and his next after [[Megatron (G1)|Megatron]] activated the [[Nightmare Engine]]. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 4|Last Stand of the Wreckers #4}} After joining the Autobots, he apprenticed under [[Wheeljack (G1)| Wheeljack]] before heading to the [[Manganese Mountains]] on his first campaign. Ironfist was practically beside himself when he identified Kup, but [[Verity Carlo]] noted that Kup "changes his oil like everyone else." And while Springer began to brief them, Ironfist fainted.

Eventually Ironfist's systems rebooted, and he immediately tried to downplay his reaction. But after some prodding from Guzzle, Ironfist resigned himself to an explanation. He revealed himself as Fisitron, the famous Wreckers historian and fanboy. As Ironfist began rambling, [[Topspin (G1)|Topspin]] and [[Twin Twist]] were amused to hear that their files were classified. On the way to [[Garrus-9]], the ship encountered [[Impactor]], who had just escaped from the prison. Ironfist and the other new recruits were forced to wait around in another room as Springer and Ultra Magnus questioned the Wreckers' former leader. They passed the time speculating on why Impactor was kicked out of the Wreckers and locked-up after a certain incident on [[Pova]]. Ironfist deeply believed that the "official" reason given for Impactor's incarceration was a cover-up, but he couldn't speculate on what had actually occurred. Later on, Ironfist was tasked with replacing Impactor's missing right hand. He rigged-up a harpoon-launching substitute for the former leader of the Wreckers, but decided not to take the opportunity to question Impactor on the real reason he was imprisoned. Soon thereafter, Springer held a briefing and revealed that [[Overlord (Masterforce)|Overlord]] had taken over Garrus-9 and was using it as his personal playground. In addition to liberating the place from Overlord and rescuing the Autobot prisoners still trapped within, Springer also announced a secondary objective. That was to secure something code-named "[[Aequitas]]", which was secreted somewhere deep within Garrus-9.

Once the plan to breach Garrus-9's defenses had been finalized, Ironfist gifted Guzzle and Pyro with cerebro-sensitive bullets he had brought along, much to Guzzle's delight. Ultra Magnus and Springer reviewed the security logs and noted Ironfist's previous blackout with some concern. Upon arriving at their destination, the Wreckers were split between two entry pods and launched from Ultra Magnus' ship. Ironfist's group consisted of [[Perceptor (G1)|Perceptor]], Topspin, Pyro, Rotorstorm, and Verity, who had stowed away without anyone's knowledge. The pods breached Garrus-9's defenses and the pod containing Ironfist landed smack-dab in the middle of the "Pit"—Overlord's makeshift arena. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 2|Last Stand of the Wreckers #2}}

Ironfist and the others found themselves surrounded by dozens of Decepticons and Overlord himself. Rotorstorm tried to make light of the tense situation with a little joke, which no one save Overlord laughed at. Unfortunately, Overlord then showed his "appreciation" for Rotorstorm's sense of humor by blowing a hole in the Autobot's head. Perceptor ordered Pyro to protect Verity as he, Ironfist, and Topspin lunged for Overlord, but the three Wreckers were completely physically-outmatched by the Decepticon powerhouse.

Upon hearing from [[Stalker (G1)|Stalker]] that there were Wreckers in another part of Garrus-9 as well, Overlord broadcast a message across the entire prison, saying that any Decepticon that brought him the head of a Wrecker would be allowed to leave. It was apparently a very enticing offer, as the mob of Decepticons that had been watching nearby surged towards Ironfist and company. Perceptor managed to delay their advance by sniping a spare fuel tank they had brought along, and the Wreckers took the opportunity to dash away.

Once there was a bit of distance between them and the Decepticons, Ironfist sagged against a wall, head in his hands. The shock of Rotorstorm's death was setting in, and Perceptor tried to calmly urge him on. But Ironfist's illusions of being a Wrecker had been shattered by what he had witnessed just minutes before. He was in it for the dramatic heroics and adventures-he hadn't expected such a display of raw violence and gore. Topspin angrily slammed him against a wall and pointed out that while Guzzle, Pyro, and Rotorstorm were all officially voted into the Wreckers, there had been no such distinction for Ironfist. Topspin labeled him a glorified tag-along and told him that "people die in stupid, pointless ways. Deal with it." Ironfist snapped out of his funk and furiously told Topspin not to lecture ''him'' about death. Perceptor broke it up and told them they couldn't afford to get personal at the moment.

Soon, they found the chamber in which Aequitas was stored. Perceptor ordered Ironfist to stand guard as he attempted to breach the door. The stripped-down and ravaged form of [[Fortress Maximus (G1)|Fortress Maximus]] was discovered plugged into it. While Pyro and Topspin disconnected Maximus from the door, Perceptor entered the proper codes to open the chamber. Ironfist quickly caught up with them to warn that the Decepticons were close to breaching the outer doors, but the Aequitas chamber had been opened by this point. The Wreckers walked in as Perceptor revealed Aequitas to them {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 3|Last Stand of the Wreckers #3}} and revealed their mission was to download all the information stored within its hard drive and make sure the Decepticons didn't get their hands on it.

When Topspin complained about this, Ironfist abruptly agreed and started to claim they should go. At that moment, Topspin began suffering the effects of vicarious perception, as his sibling Twin Twist was being tortured somewhere else in Garrus-9. Perceptor told Ironfist and Verity to watch over Topspin as he and Pyro worked on finding an access port for Aequitas.

Hearing the Decepticons still trying to breach the door from outside, Verity asked Ironfist to talk to her about something- anything to keep her mind off their predicament. Ironfist complied, telling her what he'd read about the Wreckers' showdown on Pova with [[Squadron X]]. Perceptor called for everyone to gather by the Aequitas console, informing them of the supercomputer's "suicide lock" and how it could only be bypassed by someone willingly offering up their own spark to the machine. Through process of elimination, Ironfist glumly realized it could only be himself or Pyro, the "second-stringers". Pyro adamantly refused to be the sacrifice, claiming that his life was ultimately the more valuable. Verity angrily told Pyro that Ironfist had as much right to live as he did. Ironfist lost his temper, but after a moment, he decided he was ready to die after all, just as he'd agreed with Prowl. But before Ironfist could do so, Topspin stepped up to the console and plugged himself in, killing both Jumpstarters and allowing Perceptor to log in.

Ironfist was selected by Perceptor to receive the contents of Aequitas' hard drive for safekeeping. Now having access to all of Aequitas' prisoner files, the full extent of Impactor's crime was revealed to Ironfist. As the Decepticons outside had almost breached the door, Perceptor revealed he could use Aequitas to activate the deterrence chips in the ex-prisoners' heads to kill them all. Pyro pointed out that this would also trigger the chip in Impactor's head. Perceptor put it to a vote, with Pyro voting against. Ironfist, the truth revealed to him, threw his vote in with Perceptor. {{storylink|Last Stand of the Wreckers issue 4|Last Stand of the Wreckers #4}}

Verity made an impassioned plea to Ironfist and Perceptor, pointing out that no matter what Impactor did, the Wreckers as chronicled by Fisitron's datalogs would never take this course of action. Perceptor decided Verity was right and they would do things "the old fashioned way". Pyro volunteered to hold the mob of Decepticons off while the others escaped. Ironfist and Pyro shared a moment of understanding before they left him to his fate.

Ironfist told Perceptor that they had to stop by Garrus-9's weapon stores before joining the others, as he had a good idea. Verity asked Ironfist if Pyro could hold out for long, and Ironfist assured her that he would put up a good fight. Verity then asked Ironfist what he had learned about Impactor from the Aequitas download. Ironfist told her the truth about Pova, and Impactor's crimes.

They arrived at the battle just in time to save Springer from Overlord. Ironfist tossed Springer a giant gun procured from the weapon stores, and Springer emptied it into Overlord. Overlord promptly ripped his face off. He followed by blasting Perceptor, leaving just Ironfist and Verity. Ironfist warned the Decepticon to stay back; He had loaded the Gatling gun given to Springer with deterrence chips, which had now all been injected into Overlord. Since he had the whole of Aequitas in his head, he could remotely control all deterrence chips with his mind. With a mental command, Ironfist detonated the chips in Overlord, but suddenly clutched his head in pain and collapsed, suffering another blackout.

Before the war, Ironfist was a mere factory worker assigned simple tasks, but a defect in his construction had installed an unnecessary second data processor. In his spare time, Ironfist filled this processor with every minutia about munitions he could get his hands on. When [[Magnum]] stumbled across him during an unscheduled review of his factory, Ironfist was trying to put together a replica of the astoundingly complex [[BAMF-12702]]. Ironfist was fast-tracked to the [[Elite Guard]] and put on [[Metalhawk]]'s team. Now a trained munitions expert, he proved skilled with explosives, though his simple beginnings kept him from grasping even the basic tenants of battlefield strategy. Metalhawk's team partnered with [[Thunder Clash|Thunderclash]]'s team to face a plague of [[Virulent Clone]]s. Ironfist's explosives were particularly effective against their foes, though his fellow Elite Guardsman [[Dion]] was often covered in Insecticon goo as a result. He liked to call Dion "sailor," even though Dion kept reminding him that prior to the war he worked on the docks, not the ships. Ultimately, the Elite Guard was victorious over the Virulent Clones.

The two squads relaxed for a moment until Thunderclash received a call from [[Magnum]], ordering Metalhawk's squad to ferry Thunderclash's to [[Space Port Bravo]]. The two squads then packed their gear onto the ''[[Hawk's Claw]]'' and headed out. Once at the spaceport, the two squads said their goodbyes, with Ironfist getting all emotional and foggy-opticed.

Afterward, [[Over-Run (G1)|Over-Run]] wondered out loud to the rest of the squad where they'd end up next. When Dion commented that he was eager to beat up some Decepticons, Over-Run asked chastisingly if Dion had ever seen a Decepticon up close before. Both Over-Run and Ironfist were puzzled by Dion stalking off angrily in response, with Ironfist wondering out loud if Dion ''had'' seen one before.

The squad soon re-boarded their ship and headed to Elite Guard HQ, where they found out that their next assignment was going to involve Magnum's [[Combaticon (G1)|newest special ops group]]. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 2}}

These "Combaticons" joined Ironfist's group for debriefing on their trek to [[Median]]. It sounded like a boring mission, basically a peace exercise to placate the civilian council. Ironfist stopped paying attention during the discussion of Median's purpose, something about "deectology", but perked up suddenly when the topic of mining with explosives was broached.

Luckily(?), Median turned out to be more the Elite Guard's sort of mission than they originally thought. One of the relics uncovered in the dig was an urn containing the so-called "[[Heart of the Dragon]]". Based on the tech-specs recovered along with the urn, it apparently contained the [[laser core]] for a living weapon of ultimate potential, and had already come to the attention of some renegade Decepticons known as the [[Stormtrooper (G1)|Stormtrooper]]s, who were caught casing the joint a few cycles earlier.

The Guardsmechs set up a perimeter in preparation for enemy invasion, and split into two squads to engage the intruders. Ironfist was teamed with [[Onslaught (G1)|Onslaught]] and the Combaticons, along with their security liaison, [[Strika (BM)|Strika]]. They secured [[Roadgrabber]], the advance guard, but [[Rage]] and his Stormtroopers got past Metalhawk's Squad B, so Ironfist's squad prepared to repel them. Once they got in visible range, however, only half the Stormtroopers were present -- they were using [[sensor ghost]]s to fool the Elite Guards ranged scans. With two Decepticons unaccounted for, Onslaught dispatched Ironfist and [[Vortex (G1)|Vortex]] back to the urn chamber as a rear guard. The urn chamber was already raided, however, and Ironfist was caught off-guard by [[Aquablast]]'s chemical cannon, and sent into temporary [[stasis lock]] for the duration of the battle.

After he recovered, the Autobots set off across the landscape to catch up with the Stormtroopers. They made their way inside the [[Metrotitan (Zone)|Metrotitan]], Rage's mobile fortress, only to be confronted by a creature known as [[Brimstone (Universe)|Brimstone]]. Rage had transplanted the laser-core into a small exo-frame for testing, creating a tiny dragon whose bite WAS bigger than his bark, and could decouple atoms to boot. The Elite Guard commenced a tactical advance to the rear with all due haste. Despite the urgency of the situation, Ironfist gleefully responded when Onslaught issued the greatest order he'd ever heard: ''"Ironfist, get all of your explosives ready."'' Several pretty colors and one large boom later, though, Brimstone was slightly charred, significantly angrier, but otherwise no worse for the wear. Ironfist and the others eventually escaped the Metrotitan only with the assistance of [[Drench (G1)|Drench]], one of the Stormtroopers who wanted out, just before Brimstone's power overloaded completely, destroying the Metrotitan.

Following the mission, Magnum was comparing incident reports back at base and noted that Ironfist's contained only a single sentence. (Likely submission: ''"Thee explosion could've beeeen biggah."'') {{storylink|Flames of Yesterday}}

Ironfist's team and the Combaticons continued working together over the following weeks, and Ironfist got another chance to blast off his arsenal during the mission against [[Shadowcaster]]. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 3}} Immediately the Combaticons disappeared, and Ironfist's team was ordered to try to hunt them down wherever they may be. Their search took them into some very unglamorous places, where the team was approached by a demented Empty which spoke cryptically of a "coming storm" where "rain will fall down" and the "thunder will deafen you" and where the "lightning will burn." After a bit of this, Ironfist's team grew weary of the Empty and left him.

But the Empty spoke true. Sentinel Major sent their team a distress call, as their Elite Guard headquarters was under attack. Metalhawk ordered his team back to base, where they met up with [[Ricochet (Timelines)|Ricochet]] on the outer skirts of the battle. He showed them a video feed of the battle's epicenter, where, bogglingly, the Combaticons had switched their allegiance to the Decepticons and had sieged the Elite Guard. Something about the Combaticons looked a little different than before, and, sure enough, the reason for this was revealed when the five of them combined for the first time into the super robot [[Bruticus (G1)|Bruticus]], crushing Sentinel Major to death in his mighty fist. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 5}}

Metalhawk led Iron and the others deep into the battle to assist the dwindling members of the Elite Guard. Ironfist broke ranks and plunged ahead, weapons blazing, despite Metalhawk's pleas. No matter what the odds, Bruticus was going to pay for murdering Ironfist's friends, some of whom he even liked! In vehicle mode, he ramped up an inclined piece of debris into the super robot's chest, knocking the monster down. But Bruticus was quicker than Ironfist reckoned, and his giant fist closed in on the Autobot before he could flee. Ironfist was granted a temporary reprieve from death when Over-Run and his remote helicopter drone distracted Bruticus, but Ironfist refused to retreat to safety, believing his [[lightformer cannon]] had been granted an opening to fire on their huge opponent. However, both he and Over-Run met their end when Bruticus grabbed the helicopter drone and flung it into them. {{storylink|The Coming Storm: Part 6}}
