I'm unsure as to whether I consider, say, new movie Bonecrusher to be the same character as G1 Bonecrusher in the sense that he should like to Bonecrusher (G1) and be written up in that entry like any other continuity. I kinda feel like he, and probably Scorponok and maybe Brawl, aren't "the same guy" in the sense that Megatron, Starscream, and the Autobots seem to be.
:We'll have to worry about it sooner! The IDW prequel comic comes out next month. I had a discussion about this with Steve-o in person a while back, but I figger I should give my idea here.
: I think everyone from the movie should be given their own page, under X (Movie) if they require the (Movie) tag for disambiguation purposes. This is not to say that they will be considered separate characters. For obvious carry-overs like Optimus Prime and Bumblebee, they will simply have Movie sections on their G1 pages that have, for example, "See Bumblebee (Movie)" under the header, like Optimus Prime's toy section. (Stuff like this will especially come in handy on Prime's page, which is too long for more material already.)
: My reasoning for doing this to all the characters? The Movie is a huge franchise, and something that will be THE most prominent and pervasive Transformers media, probably of all time, and so separating them will increase ease of use, especially for more casual browsers. This will also allow us to focus exclusively on these versions of characters in a better way, with concept design stages, once the Art of" books come out, maybe even have a "Differences between the movie version and previous versions of the characters" section, again which would be beneficial to more casual browsers. --ItsWalky 17:05, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
::That all makes good sense to me. I am wondering, though, about what the continuity notes for the Movie-character articles should say. ::That I'm not 100% sure on. Though if Bumblebee, Prime, Megatron, Starscream, and Jazz are considered versions of the G1 character, I would say that probably necessitates it being considered in the G1 continuity family based on that technicality. If it's its own continuity family, then it can't share any of another continuity family's characters without some dimension-hopping. --ItsWalky 17:39, 26 January 2007 (UTC)
:::Well, this begs the question of what qualifies as "G1." From the sound of things, the movie has about as much in common with G1 as Armada did; in that it was definantly INSPIRED by G1 and definantly shapes a lot of things around what came in G1, but it also treads a lot of new ground and sort of does it's own thing. I mean, there's not a whole heaping lot fo different between Optimus in Armada and Optimus in G1. Likely there is going to be about the same ammount of difference for Optimus in the movie. I vote we give the movie it's own continuity family. Of course, that means we need to name it. == Movie is not G1 ==

My recommendation is that when the Michael Bay/Steven Spielberg movie is out, we should not treat it as being part of the G1 continuity family. G1 are characters from 1984-1992 and any continuity that spins out of or reboots either cartoon or comic.

It would be a mistake to label the Movie as part of this G1 tree. The writers themselves have said that they took inspiration from G1 but also from other storylines. It's the same with the X-Men movies: the Phoenix was really Ultimate Marvel though the cure plot was from Astonishing X-Men. And then Spider-Man 2 had stuff from the 50th issue where Spider-Man gives up being a superhero, but Doc Ock isn't in that issue, Kingpin is.

All I have to say is the movie is a new universe, something very new, a different interpretation of Transformers. It is like somebody just really liked the Autobots and Decepticons and made a movie of it. We may get nods here and there, and there are G1 characters there, but we shouldn't treat it the same.

:I'm not sure it's appropriate to make a final decision either way at this time. We'll call it when we see it. --Andrusi 20:34, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

We already have a split:
*Optimus Prime (Movie)
*Bumblebee (Movie)
*Jazz (Movie)
*Ironhide (Movie)
*Blackout (Movie)
*Barricade (Movie)

The above argument is that it's confusing universes and continuity families. yes, clearly we now that Spider-man 2 isn't int he same UNIVERSe as the Spider-man comics...but tha characters in it are Spider-man, and Doc Ock, and Harry Osborn. They are the 'classic' Spider-man versions. They're not the Japanese Spider-man who is a reporter (I think) with a talking car, or the Danish one who throws canal-salt, or the Indian one who has Krishna-given powers. THOSE character, using this analogy, would be like the ARMADA versions of Optimus Prime.<br/>
We know there are like 20 or 30 versions of Gen 1 Optimus Prime that all represent the same character, but whose backstory and adventures do not occur in the same universe. They 'are' all G1 Prime. On the other hand, we have 2 or 3 Optimsu Primes we recognize to be 'Armada Prime,' whose backstory and adventure ae ALSO irreconcilable, but we also recognize to still 'be' the same guy, albeit fundamentally different from G1 Prime.<br/>
You are arguing about universes. We are talking about continuity families.

You may be right that Movie Prime should be spun off (I haven't seen any proof of it) but your argument is mis-framed. You're saying Earth 615 Captain America isn't Captain America. (10 points to whoever gets that one!) when you mean 'he isn't the same individual as Earth 616 Captain America.'

(I just assume that supplementary materials from the movie are goign to give Movie Optimus Prime so many shared life experiences and universe elements with regular G1 Prime, that we'll live to regret placing him in a separate category, and conclude he is the same character. It seems a safe bet, given how TF is written.) -Derik 22:50, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
: Of course, the fun part is that apparently Japan considers the movie as part of their mainstream G1 continuity happening in 2007. I'm new here, and I came here looking for information, which is what wikis are for. David is confirmed for the game, but, according to the pople who saw the australian version, only Megaron and Starscream speak english. So I'm not sure if that va list is reliable
:Other people who were at that same screening say otherwise, as seen in the "Griffin adds some more info" link above, in which the writer gives his best recollection as to how much each Decepticon says. Also, just because a character doesn't speak English doesn't mean he won't have a voice actor.
This is NOTHING like Transformers
I normally like the humour on this site, but this is pure bullshit. It purposely selectively picks the things that they have in common with G1, while ignoring the other vast differences, such as Ironhide, Ratchet, Megatron and Starscream looking nothing like any canonical version, Jazz being a cocky trendy "hip hop" guy instead of the blues musician type he was in the cartoon, the sheer human focus, the fact that the Decepticons are barely even CHARACTERS, the fact that Bumblebee doesn't speak, the fact that Optimus Prime has a hideous mouth. You can list as many differences as you can similiarities.

This sarcasm reminds me too much of Redsquadron and it pisses me off. It's not even funny in the least, it's obviously such ass launching yet another attack at people who are barely allowed have an opinion in theTF community.
Errors
Derik asserts that the scene where Sam, Mikaela, Maggie and Glenn are transported via the same helicopter to Hoover Dam is a mistake because they come from opposite ends of the country. I don't know about you, but to my knowledge, there is unlikely to be any helicopter in the US inventory that has the range to fly from Washington to Nevada. So more likely, Sam and Mikaela were detained at a US air base in Nevada while they waited for Keller, Banachek and the others to arrive by plane, then were all transported to Hoover at the same time via the Blackhawks.
Because the Titan comics are listed under several different characters under different titles while that Target comics haven't even been acknowledged by this wiki as existing until I uploaded a couple of Sector Seven panels a month or more ago. ::I know, but Titanium has transformable toys, at least. I think the best definition would be toys=sold directly by Hasbro/takara, that would make Revoltech a merchandise. But what about McDonald Toys, then? Anyway, even if the difference between Merchandise and toys became kind of blur for Mc Donald, Titanium, and Even Action Master, Revoltech is not sell directly by Takara/Hasbro, and neither does it transform.
If we must have a clear criterion, I think "produced by Hasbro/Takara" may be the best we can do. And yes, that would mean moving most promotional toys like Happy Meals out of "toys" and into something else. Sadly, it would also affect toys made by GiG in Italy or by Estrela in Brazil, without some sort of concession. <s>Those were at least the same molds, so, we could base it on who owned the rights to the tooling at the time the item was produced, since GiG and Estrela were licensing them but wouldn't have owned them. (Not who made the original tooling, since then toys like Omega Supreme and Roadbuster are out.)</s>
:Hasbro owned the Bandai tooling used to filled out the line in 1985? --Rotty 21:55, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Personally though I would rather not have a set rule for it, and instead decide things case by case. We could keep a list in the help pages of what items "count" as toys and what items don't. It's a subjective thing, but, I think we'll end up with the smallest number of silly categorizations that way. As Rotty says, I can't imagine any definition of the word "toy" that would exclude a Revoltech figure. They are nothing like Metalforce Prime. Metalforce is, IMO, very much in the "statue" area and not the "toy" area. A 3" Titanium is pretty much just a statue too, to me, but a SCF/HoC PVC figurine is moving closer to "toy".

--Steve-o 21:37, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

:I basically agree with Steve. The line between the two is fuzzy, but I feel that most everybody would agree with decisions, in this case, made somewhat arbitrarily. I don't think it's too hard to easily discern what was produced to be played with, and what was produced to be a display piece. --Sntint 21:44, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
::Yeah, I think we can come up with a pretty good definition in that toys are designed to be played with. You can say of them that they have a "play pattern", as I did at Multi-property brand. So figures that transform into something else are toys. If you play with them by having them interact with vehicles and accessories, also toys. Attacktix, Built to Rule, MyClone, Revoltech, those are also meant to be played with. There's really no way to play with 3" Titaniums, but it would be nice to keep Titanium Series entirely under Toys when the same character has both 6" and 3" figures. 3" Titaniums and SCFs are a gray area. --Rotty 21:53, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

I wonder if Hasbro and Takara have some exact standard by which they determine what's a toy and what's merchandise? Perhaps toys tend to belong to "lines" or assortments, whereas merchandise tends to be a one-off item? There is an assortment of Titaniums, there is certainly an assortment of actual main-line figures, but there is only one Optimash Prime? Certainly we cannot strictly use the amount of "one", but perhaps this is where we can be arbitrary, if not being wholly arbitrary? There are only two Softformers, only one Metalforce... I suppose Masterpiece now has enough items to be considered a line? --Sntint 22:17, 14 May 2007 (UTC)

For generations, Optimus Prime ruled Cybertron side-by-side with Megatron. The two personalities created a balance; Prime was fair while Megatron was firm. However, when Megatron revealed his intentions to steal the All Spark and use it for evil, selfish gain, Prime reacted accordingly. He built a militia from the civilians around him, but they faired terribly against Megatron's armies. Ultimately, Prime was forced to eject the All Spark into space to keep it from his nemesis.

Thus the focus of the war between Autobot and Decepticon shifted. The All Spark's ejection was only a stall. No longer did Prime have to keep Megatron from stealing the All Spark, instead Prime and his Autobots must hunt down the All Spark, wherever in the universe it landed, before Megatron could. Prime Directives
Optimus Prime lead the serach for the All Spark in the Ark, a transport vessel. When they came across an abandoned solar system, they located a vessel of strangely Cybertronian design, and of Decepticon make. When the vessel fled to the surface of a planet, Prime dispatched Bumblebee to investigate, while he and the Autobots battled the Decepticons from the Nemesis. After losing touch with Bumblebee, Prime went down to locate him, where they were attacked by Starscream and the alien ship. They fell into a cavern network, where they were attacked by indigenous worms.

Coming across the alien vessel, Prime and Bumblebee communicated with its crew. Prime explained that they came in peace, "freedom is the right of all sentient beings", Starscream tricks everyone, and so on. However, the creatures, who called themselves "humans", explained that they held Megatron, who they called the Ice Man, on their homeworld, Earth. Realizing the destruction Megatron would wreak upon the humans if he escaped, and that the humans would be unable to effectively defend themselves, Prime vowed to see them return to their world to warn it. In the ensuing battle with the Decepticons, the humans saved Prime's life by attacking Starscream, who destroyed them. Prime was inspired by their courage and sacrifice, and resolved to locate Earth before the Decepticons did&mdash;and hopefully before Megatron came back online.

The leader of the Autobots, Optimus Prime came to Earth shortly after Bumblebee sent his comrades a beacon. After scanning the form of an Earth truck and reconfiguring his body to transform into it, Prime, Jazz, Ratchet, and Ironhide met up with Bumblebee and his human friends, Sam Witwicky and Mikaela Banes in an alley. Transforming before the stunned humans, he introduced himself, his team, and why Sam was important to their search for the All Spark.

Glasses that belonged to Sam's ancestor, Captain Archibald Witwicky, contain the location of the All Spark encoded across its lenses, so Optimus Prime ordered his troops to wait outside Sam's house while Sam and Mikaela searched inside for the glasses. Much to Sam's exasperation, Optimus Prime, in his impatience, clumsily ruined his parents' garden, and the Autobots' heavy footsteps convinced them there was an earthquake. Despite all this, their presence remained undetected until Sector Seven arrived (in a convoy of GMC Yukon's) and abducted Sam, Mikaela, and Sam's parents.

Optimus Prime sent the Autobots in pursuit of the SUV that contained Sam, Mikaela, and Sector Seven's director, Agent Simmons. Prime intercepted the vehicle carrying their young human friends, ripping the roof of the vehicle off, with the other Autobots disarming the agents, and Optimus attempted to interrogate Simmons. The agents lack of surprise at their appearance indicated that they had seen Cybertronians before, but Simmons refused to reveal any information. With a Sector Seven backup team enroute, Prime ordered the Autobots to scatter, while he took Sam and Mikaela. While hiding under a bridge, Mikaela and Sam slipped and fell off Prime's shoulder. Bumblebee managed to catch them before impact, but was captured, and Sam and Mikaela recaptured, by the organization after their retreat.

Optimus Prime, now in possession of the glasses which can tell him the location of the All Spark, regrettably leaves Bumblebee in Sector Seven's hands, knowing that if they went after him, they would have to use deadly force. After regrouping the next day, Prime used the glasses to locate the All Spark. Jazz raised objections to leaving Bumblebee behind, but Prime remained firm in his belief of not harming the humans. Ironhide seemed okay with using deadly force, stating the humans were too violent, but Prime remind him of the Cybertronians own violent history. He also revealed to the Autobots his real plan for the All Spark: if they could not defeat the Decepticons, Prime intended to merge the Cube with his spark. Though this would destroy the All Spark, Ratchet cautioned Prime against this, as it would also kill him, but Prime had made his decision. The glasses placed the All Spark at Hoover Dam where, luckily, Bumblebee and the young humans were taken.

Optimus Prime's team met up with Sector Seven, Bumblebee, Sam, and Mikaela en route, who had planned to hide the All Spark in nearby Mission City. While on the highway, he was attacked by Bonecrusher, who managed to tackle Optimus and drag him over the edge of a freeway overpass. During the battle, Optimus struck the hate filled Transformer so hard his optic popped out. As the Decepticon swung his claw wildly, Optimus drew his sword from his right arm and sliced off one of Bonecrusher's arms, before brutally finishing off his enemy by driving the blade through Bonecrusher's neck, severing his head.

Optimus arrived at Mission City just in time to observe Megatron discarding the remains of Jazz. Millennia in the ice had done nothing to lessen Megatron's hatred of his brother, and he launch himself in jet mode at the Autobot leader. Optimus leapt and grabbed ahold of the wings, which was a really bad idea as Megatron drove himself and Prime through an office block. Prime managed to get a shot off at Megatron, but the Decepticon's cannon threw Prime across the street into another building, allowing Megatron to resume the hunt for Sam.

After saving Sam from falling off a building, Optimus told the boy that if he could not defeat Megatron, Sam must put the All Spark into his chest which would destroy it. As Sam made his escape, Optimus faced down Megatron and informed him that at the end of the day, "One shall stand, One shall fall". Unfortunately, Megatron, even after years of stasis, proved to be far too powerful for Prime to defeat alone. The unit led by Lennox and the Raptor squadron laid down suppressing fire as Megatron reached for the All Spark, until Optimus finally took him down by sweeping his legs. Still, Megatron continued, crawling toward the cube. Believing he had lost, Optimus implored to Sam to put the All Spark into his chest. Sam instead thrust it into Megatron's chest, eventually killing the Decepticon leader and destroying the All Spark. As Optimus watched his brother die, he regretfully said there was little other choice. He also told Sam he owed him a debt of gratitide for saving his life, and granted Bumblebee's request to allow him to remain with Sam Witwicky.

Though Megatron and his Decepticons were defeated, the All Spark was destroyed, leaving the Autobots unable to restore Cybertron. The Autobots elected to remain on Earth, and Optimus Prime sent a message to any surviving Autobots in the Galaxy to come to their new home, their search finally having come to an end. As the other Autobots rested (and watched Sam and Mikaela makeout) Optimus Prime looked to the sky, hoping his message had been heard.

Note: The comic book adaptation depicts Prime also defeating Barricade during the highway altercation with Bonecrusher.
Transformers The Game
:Voice actor: Peter Cullen

Optimus Prime provides intelligence and missions to Bumblebee in his search for the All Spark. Eventually, the clues lead the Autobot to Sam Witwicky. After saving Sam from Barricade, Bumblebee finally completes preparations for the Autobots to arrive on Earth.

Once on Earth, and having informed the two teenagers of their mission, Prime and the Autobots are discovered by Sector 7. Optimus sends Jazz on a high-speed <strike>destruction</strike> distraction mission, then sends Ironhide to rescue Jazz from a double-threat posed by the government agents and various Decepticon scouts.

When Bumblebee is captured, Prime transforms and chases the chopper which from which the small Autobot is tied. After a lengthy chase, Prime manages to catch the net, only to be thrown off by another Cybertronian meteor. As Bumblebee is carried away, Optimus promises he will not fail him again. Jazz informs him that the meteor is not an Autobot. Prime confronts the new threat, who turns out to be the Decepticon triplechanger Shockwave. The two battle it out across Tranquility before Optimus finally destroys him. But not without overhearing Starscream's transmission revealing the location of the All Spark.

Optimus then returned to an intel role as he guided Bumblebee in his mission to retrieve the All Spark from Hoover dam. Unfortunately, the Decepticons manage to free Megatron, leading to the final battle in Mission City.

As the Autobots battle it out with the Decepticons to protect Sam and the All Spark, things seem to take a turn for the worst as Megatron finally arrives. But before he can claim the cube, Optimus attacks him.

The two battle it out until Megatron is finally on the ground, seemingly devoid of life. Optimus then kneels to take the All Spark from Sam. Megatron however awakens, leaping at Optimus with his chain-flail out. Optimus grips the chain, pulling Megatron in closer, and with the All Spark clutched in his fist, delivers a punch through Megatron's spark. As Megatron dies, Optimus reflects on the losses and rewards of this battle, as the Autobots have a new home. Optimus plans to guard the humans in secret, "For freedom is the right of all sentient beings."

Note: If played in Decepticon mode, Optimus is beaten to the ground, and as he crawls for the All Spark, Megatron smashes his head with his flail before using the cube to destroy humanity.

:Based upon the 'Protoform' (Cybertronian) appearances of the Transformers in the Movie, Protoform Optimus Prime transforms into his 'Entry' mode cybertronic comet thing. This mode somewhat resembles a cybertronic truck, with false wheels sculpted onto the sides, and Optimus Prime's trademark windows in front. A flame decoration piece fits to the back of the 'vehicle', creating the illusion of a flaming comet's tail. The bottom of the vehicle has small wheels to roll the toy across smooth surfaces. Oddly, it has NO automorph gimmick at all, a feature most main-line figures have.

:In robot mode he resembles previous Optimus characters - his angular chest windows are reminiscent of Cybertron Optimus Prime, while his near animalistic limbs and color scheme are evocative of Beast Wars Optimus Primal. He has excellent articulation due to his many ball joints, and is armed with a rifle. The flame attachment can fit onto the end of the (non-firing) gun barrel.

:Some packaging variants of this figure (perhaps a Wal-Mart exclusive) included a free movie poster depicting a Cybertronian eye overlooking Earth. While an added sticker to the outer plastic bubble says "Exclusive movie poster!", it is more of a preview of upcoming figures.

: The largest Movie Optimus Prime toy, Leader Class Optimus Prime features the most accurate representation yet of the CGI designs' complex transformation sequence, the only difference being the arms who are placed behind the cab while they constitute the hood in the CGI model. He transforms into a heavily-customized Peterbilt 379 conventional extended-hood truck, and unusually for a mainline figure, he has rubber tires on all his wheels. His Ion Blaster weapon is stored in the rear of the truck's bunk, exposed like an engine block. Though Optimus has no trailer, he has hole where the fifth wheel (known among fans as a 'hitch') is sculpted in the rear of the truck, should owners find a suitable trailer to use. Due to safety reasons, the tips of his long smokestacks are made of a soft, flexible material. A switch on top of the cab roof activates horn sounds and window lights.

: Featuring a complex transformation, essentially the front and back ends of the truck fold and converge to become Optimus Prime's legs, as much of the truck rear is connected to the robot thighs via a series of folding panels. The rear wheel cowlings feature a hinge joint in the middle of them so they do not impede his knee articulation. The rear cabin of the cab, directly connected to the smokestacks, rotate and connect to his torso and unfold into his arms. As with most mainline Movie toys, Optimus Prime features Automorph gimmicks, and due to his pricepoint has three of them. Firstly, during initial transformation, rotating his front fenders to become his heels flips the top parts of the grill to become his toes. Secondly, sliding out the the double-barrel cannon in his right forearm flips out his spring-loaded Ion Blaster, which lands into place for his right hand. (The Ion Blaster can actually be popped off his forearm fairly easily, held in place by a simple clip.) Optimus' final Automorph, located in his torso, is activated by flipping the silver lever on his stomach activating a series of spring-loaded actions where they push the truck windows part, raises the lever between them and allows the head to spring up from the chest cavity. At this point yellow LEDs light up the chest windows and Optimus Prime's eyes, accompanied by a 'powering up' sound effect.

: Optimus Prime has a wide range of articulation for a relatively bulky figure. He has ratcheting joints in his shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, with swivel joints and ball joints supporting them in his biceps, lower knee joints and ankles. Again, unusually for a mainline figure, especially at the Leader pricepoint, his hands have individually articulated fingers and thumbs.

: Legends class Optimus Prime is an extremely simplified toy of the extremely complex movie design. As such, he features numerous unavoidable inaccuracies, such as not transforming or even looking very much like the original design or the larger toy versions in robot mode. However, proportionally Legends class Optimus Prime is not far off from the real truck and the Leader class toy's vehicle mode, aside from missing a smokestack on the driver's side. he is articulated at the shoulders and upper legs via ball-joints.

: Unusually for the smaller Voyager-class of toys, Robo-Vision Optimus Prime comes packed in robot mode in a special hexagonal column box with many windows, similar to the original packaging for 20th Anniversary Optimus Prime.

:The mid-range Voyager class Movie Optimus Prime toy transforms into an amalgamation of the Kenworth W900 and the Peterbilt 379, making this toy fairly inaccurate to the actual vehicle Optimus Prime turned into. Because of the smaller size and lessened complexity, the Voyager class Optimus Prime features a significantly different transformation sequence compared to the Leader class toy, and indeed, the actual CGI design. However, as the actual truck cabin no longer forms his chest, the cabin now features an small interior with opening doors and a non-removable cowboy-hat-bedecked driver figurine that flips out of the seat when the driver's side door is shut.

: In robot mode, Voyager class Optimus Prime is proportionally more accurate to his CGI design than the leader class toy and has a more accurate headsculpt, but due to the aforementioned lessened complexity significant sacrifices had to be made, such as "cheats" to the transformation sequence to achieve this and thus he is overall less accurate than he initially appears. In addition to previously mentioned changes, he carries much of the truck's front hood, grill and fenders on his back like a backpack. However, he maintains a superb level of articulation and posability.

: Optimus Prime is armed with two large rifles formed out of a combination of both smokestacks and fuel tanks. These rifles peg into lower arms with grips for his open hands. The under-slung fuel tanks can fire spring-loaded projectiles. In vehicle mode, both smokestack rifles can be deployed as twin cannons, and this mechanism can also be used to store the rifles and deploy them as shoulder guns in robot mode.
: As part of the "Power" second half of the Movie line, Nightwatch Optimus Prime is an extensive redeco of the previously released Leader-class Optimus Prime, replacing most of his red and blue with different shades of blue and black. In fact, he resembles the original Diaclone Powered Convoy colourscheme of Generation 1 Ultra Magnus's truck cab. The previously blue and red flames have been replaced with silver flames, as has various other decos, replaced by copper.
*Optimus Prime (Robot Replica, 2007)
: As part of the Robot Replicas line, this version of Optimus is a non-transforming action figure that utilizes Revoltech-style jointing. The sculpt hews much closer to the movie CGI model than is possible with the full transforming toys, plus the universal jointing of the line allows for his forearm to be replaced with his hand-cannon... or bits from other Robot Replicas.
:A highly CG-accurate sculpt of Optimus Prime's head with a built in voice-changer. It also has several sound effects and quotes from the movie. The voice-changer has three settings, giving more accurate alteration of the user's voice (though this is still debatable; most voice changing technology is pretty crummy, at least in toys). Much like the Ultimate Bumblebee figure, this toy will hate your wallet too. While it only costs 30 bucks, if it's anything like another Hasbro voice changer, it will suck batteries up like they were some kind of square candy holder.

: There are two versions of the voice changer helmet with two different pre-recorded voices. An earlier release features a voice similar to Garry Chalk, while the later release features the voice of Peter Cullen. The latter version has modified packaging under the 'Try Me!' blurb, stating it has 'Real Movie Voice!', though the updated version has also appeared in the original packaging without the 'Real Movie Voice!' notice.
Trivia
* Takaratomy officially recognizes Optimus Prime's vehicle mode as a Kenworth W900 truck, even though the vehicle used for filming was a modified Peterbilt 379, a different model from a different company.

* As part of the hype buildup to the movie's release, Optimus Prime made a brief cameo at the 2007 MTV Movie Awards, interacting with host Sarah Silverman. The scene spliced Silverman into pre-existing movie footage, but featured new dialogue recorded for the event by Peter Cullen. Prime heavily hinted that he wanted to present an award, but was rejected.

* According to the free trading cards from the Boston Globe, Optimus is 28 feet tall, weighs 4.3 metric tons, and his primary weapon is an ion blaster. (Considering Optimus's height however, this weight would seem implausible)

* According to a tie-in advertisement for Burger King, Prime likes his whoppers with no onions, no cheese, and with extra pickles on the side. However, due to a cruel twist of fate, he can never enjoy the sweet taste of beefy victory.

* The Optimus Prime computer generated model consisted of 10,108 individual parts, 1,830,898 polygons, 27,744 rig nodes, and 2336 texture maps. The volume of all pieces combined came to 5445 cubic feet. for Operation Volcano. His role was to act as the crucial back-up needed for the Wreckers to successfully destroy their Decepticon targets and then escape in one piece. A serious complication arose when the Matrix Flame, the sacred and eternal blaze linked directly to the Creation Matrix itself, suddenly extinguished. Fearing that something catastrophic had occurred on Earth to the Matrix and its bearer, Optimus Prime, Emirate Xaaron made the decision to send Ultra Magnus to that planet to investigate, even though Operation Volcano was unstoppably set to begin in ten cycles. Magnus travelled to Earth by way of Space Bridge, and found the Ark's crew engaged in a deadly conflict with three new, yet unspeakably powerful, Decepticon warriors just as their leaders Optimus Prime, Prowl, and Ratchet vanished before their optic sensors. Initially concerned only with his investigation of Prime's sudden disappearance, Ultra Magnus ignored the plight of his fellow Autobots until he learned the two situations were linked; Galvatron and his lieutenants were time-travelers from 2006, having employed a mass-substitution mechanism that sent the three Autobots into limbo in order to accommodate their presence at this point in the timeline. This connection was revealed to him by three Autobots from 2006, who had traveled back in time themselves in order to stop Galvatron. They had a plan; they had the means; all they needed was for Ultra Magnus to keep him busy for, oh...an hour or two.

Easier said than done.

Magnus's battle with Galvatron carried them out of the isolated wilderness and onto a human freeway system. It ended when Ultra Magnus threw a tanker truck full of fuel into the path of Galvatron's particle cannon. Galvatron walked away from the blast -- Magnus didn't. Still, the future Autobots succeeded in tricking Galvatron into returning to the future with his plan incomplete, and the timeline more-or-less preserved. Unfortunately, Magnus was out of time: Operation Volcano proceeded without him, with disastrous results. Only one Decepticon was taken out, and the Wreckers' leader Impactor was killed protecting Xaaron. Target 2006

Ultra Magnus would not meet his counterpart, Optimus Prime, until Prime was inadvertently transported back to Cybertron in battle with Megatron. Hooking up with Lord Straxus at Polyhex, Megatron quickly disseminated false information about a new Decepticon madeover to look exactly like Optimus Prime, planning to infiltrate the Autobot forces. Having temporarily assumed control of the Wreckers until their new leader, Springer, was ready for command, Ultra Magnus led them in hunting down the "imposter". This Prime's behavior led Magnus to be suspicious of his information and, after summoning Emirate Xaaron, confirmed his suspicions and welcomed the true Optimus Prime back to Cybertron. Prime wasted no time leading Magnus and the others on a series of successful raids and strike missions against Decepticon-controlled territory. When Optimus decided to return home to Earth, however, Ultra Magnus was caught up in the space bridge's energy discharge as well, arriving on Earth but some considerable distance away from where Prime materialized. Having been frustrated ever since Impactor's death, Magnus welcomed the "vacation" this trip to Earth would provide him, as he took his time trying to track down the Ark's location.

For months, Ultra Magnus enjoyed a peaceful life in the American forests and wilderness, alone with his thoughts. A sudden seismic disturbance brought him back to reality, though, and into contact with three human females whose vehicle had been overturned by the tremor. One in particular, Cindy, took quite a liking to Magnus. As they travelled together to explore a nearby volcano and its connection to the tremors, Magnus was forced back into combat thanks to the arrival of his old sparring partner, the future Decepticon known as Galvatron. Galvatron had constructed a magma siphon atop the volcano's peak, and planned to convert the raw power of a volcanic eruption into enough energy to transform him into a god. Ultra Magnus teamed up with several Autobots from the future, who were trying to bring Galvatron back with them to face justice. Once again, Magnus was used as a "distraction" (read: living punching bag) while the future Autobots set up their plan to override Galvatron's time-jump mechanism and send them all back where they came from. Despite Ultra Magnus successfully getting the slag beat out of him, the override proved unsuccessful, sending only the Autobots back to 2007 and leaving Magnus virtually alone to deal with the fighting-mad Galvatron. Barely managing to rally his courage, Ultra Magnus threw himself into combat with Galvatron one more time, keeping him busy until the volcano exploded, destroying the power siphon and encasing both warriors in molten lava.

Several months later, Ultra Magnus was dug out of the volcano by the Sparkler Mini-Bots. They had been sent to Earth by Springer to monitor the volcano in case Galvatron ever got free. When Galvatron DID free himself several days earlier, though, they found themselves hopelessly outmatched, and hoped Magnus would have better luck. Sadly, the severe beatings Galvatron had routinely handed out to Ultra Magnus, combined with the final excrutiating submergence in molten lava, had nearly unhinged the Autobot's mind, leaving him with a pathological fear of his tormentor. Confronted with Galvatron, Magnus would probably have gone fetal if that pose had any meaning for his people. As the Sparklers heroically tried to stand up to Galvatron anyway, Ultra Magnus saw his rescuers in grave danger and finally managed to push his fear aside and reclaim enough confidence to batter the Decepticon into a temporary retreat. Salvage!

Having renewed his fighting spirit, Ultra Magnus arranged to return to Cybertron with his companions in order to report on Galvatron's activities and hopefully gather the Wreckers for a counter-offensive. Instead, they found the Autobot base in Kalis full of battle signs, and the entire surrounding city-state a virtual "ghost-town". After confronting a legion of robot zombies, the Autobots eventually learned that a crazed scientist named Flame was trying to re-engineer the entire planet as a giant spacecraft, setting off an unstable fusion reactor beneath the planet's surface as a power source. With the help of the Wreckers and the Decepticons Flywheels and Trypticon, Ultra Magnus and his team managed to put an end to Flame's maniacal scheme.

Ultra Magnus and the Wreckers then began preparations to return to Earth and confront the threat of Galvatron, finally, once and for all, and then...*poof*. The Wreckers went to Earth alone, and Ultra Magnus was never seen nor heard from again.

At one point, the Blackball was left in the safekeeping of Ultra Magnus. Galvatron, catching Magnus by surprise, managed to blow him up with a powerful energy blast from his fusion cannon. Recovering the Blackball, Galvatron began to gloat about his victory. That's when Magnus' body hurled his head at Galvatron like a bowling ball, causing the Emperor of Destruction to fall over like a set of pins and drop the Blackball. That's using your head, Magnus! *sigh*

After Prime's and Megatron disappeared during the first space bridge incident The Dark Ages, Part 1, Ultra Magnus retreated from prominence in the Autobot army. However he was eventually able to overcome his own fear and take a role of leadership. Together with Grimlock, he was on the verge of ending the war when Megatron arrived and enslaved the plane with the Aerospace Extermination Squadron. Magnus was put to work in a slave mines. The War Within: The Age of Wrath

Years later, Ultra Magnus and Shockwave worked together to replenish their armies in the Little Iacon incident. Many of the Micromasters created resented Ultra Magnus for bringing him into their war. Micromasters (comic)

After Great Shutdown, Ultra Magnus was reactivated and took the role of security officer under Shockwave's rule, even if he was dissatisfied working under a leader who clearly held his own agenda. After many, many delays, Ultra Magnus confronted Shockwave about the mastermind's plans - but Magnus was silenced by gun fire. He survived by discarding his armor. War and Peace

After Shockwave had been removed from power, Ultra Magnus was content to oversee operations on Cybertron while Prime spent ten issues getting repaired.

IDW comics continuity
spoiler
Ultra Magnus' concept has been tweaked somewhat to fit within Simon Furman's Cold War-influenced G1 reboot continuity; although still a soldier, Magnus' role is similar to that of an Interpol officer. Specifically, he is an agent of the Tyrest Accord. Although never detailed, this Accord seems to be part of a greater Code of Interplanetary Conflict, some form of treaty between Autobots, Decepticons and other alien races. As an enforcer of the Accord, Magnus hunts down any Transformers, Autobots or Decepticons alike, who illegally sell or distribute Cybertronian technology, handing them over to their superiors for prosecution.

One such violation saw Magnus pursue Swindle to the planet Zull. After arresting the Combaticon, Magnus reluctantly released Swindle in exchange for the current whereabouts of an even greater offender: Scorponok. Magnus has a personal grudge against Scorponok, who is the Autobot's polar opposite; while Magnus sets great stock in rules, Scorponik flouts them. Magnus follows Swindle's lead to the planet Nebulos, but although he disrupts Scorponok's operations, the Decepticon is able to escape.

Later on, Magnus arrests Swindle for yet anohter violation, and once again, Swindle offers a deal, leaving Magnus to wonder whether he'll start breaking the rules just to finally catch Scorponok...

Notes
*It has been speculated by some fans that, in animated continuity, Ultra Magnus may have been created from Orion Pax's friend Dion, the same way and at the same time Prime and Elita One were rebuilt by Alpha Trion.
:For further elaboration, see Who is Dion?.
Toys
Generation 1
* Ultra Magnus (1986, 2000, 2002)
: Japanese ID number: C-69

: Ultra Magnus is a redeco of the Diaclone Powered Convoy toy, which itself was a redecoed Battle Convoy (pre-TF Optimus Prime) with a new trailer that combined with the cab robot to form a super robot. Whereas the original Japanese use was an upgrade to Convoy, Hasbro released him as a separate character and both the comic and the cartoon ignored the cab robot in favor of the super robot.

:Ultra Magnus transforms into a white Freightliner COE with a blue and red car-carrier trailer. He comes with a rifle that has two pegs that will fit into either the fist of the cab robot or fist of the super robot, and he also comes with two missile launchers that can plug into either the front of the trailer or the shoulders of the super robot. Additional accessories include the cab robot's fists, the super robot's fists, the super robot head, the super robot chestplate, and two crotchplates/trailer hitches.

:The original American toy was released in at least two versions -- one with rubber tires and paint on both heads, and a second with plastic tires and no paint on either head.

:Ultra Magnus was first reissued in Japan in 2000 with little to no changes. Two years later, Ultra Magnus was reissued as a Toys "R" Us exlusive in the United States in the first wave of the Commemorative Series; the American reissue's missiles were elongated to pass modern safety laws. Both reissues had rubber tires and the facial paint.

*Ultra Magnus Movie Preview version (2001)
: In the early stages of the development of the 1986 animated movie, several promotional clips for the movie were produced, including one depicting Ultra Magnus in the original Diaclone Powered Convoy color scheme. The Movie Preview toy was released in 2001 based on that brief (and premature) appearance, featuring a blue colored cab.

*Ultra Magnus Matrix Glow version (2001)
: With a yellow cab and a clear yellow trailer, Matrix Glow Ultra Magnus or Shining Magnus is intended to recall the moment in the animated movie, just before Optimus Prime dies, when the Matrix is passed to Ultra Magnus and he is bathed in its Matrixey yellow light. It was also released in 2001.

: This version is sometimes referred to by fans as "Urine Magnus", or slightly less-polite variations of the same.

Generation 2
* Laser Ultra Magnus (2006)
: Japanese ID number: TRF-13-S

: An e-Hobby exclusive, Generation 2 Laser Ultra Magnus is a redeco of Laser Optimus Prime, transforming into a mid-1990s Western Star 4964EX extended-hood truck pulling a blue and white tanker trailer. He was packaged in the reissue Laser Optimus Prime's box, along with Prime's instructions, bio card and sticker sheet. Yes, the stickers that have "Optimus Prime" written on them.

:In robot mode the bottom of the truck became his familiar windowed chest based upon the original Optimus Prime toy (and the original Ultra Magnus's cab). His main gimmick was light up LED headlights, and a lightpipe in the bottom of his right fist, illuminated by an LED in his right forearm, that would illuminate his clear sword or his double-barreled rifle if they were used in that hand. All three LEDs were activated simultaneously by pressing the sunroof-like depression on the roof of the truck.

:The trailer unfolds to form a battle station bristling with many firing weapons. Primarily, it can fire an air-powered missile launcher, a ripple rocket launcher with 5 missiles that can be launched individually (this turret can also be mounted in Laser Magnus' hand) and a 'disc launcher', that fired several white plastic discs. This disc launcher is the only weapon that can be used in vehicle mode.

:This release uses the toolings that were modified for the Robots in Disguise Scourge toy, and thus has smooth discs and a less pointy sword.

Masterpiece
* Ultra Magnus (2004)
: Japanese ID number: MP-2

: Masterpiece Ultra Magnus is a white redeco of Masterpiece Convoy (Optimus Prime) with all the same accessories, though some have been redecoed. Additionally, his box can be refolded into his classic trailer configuration, but doesn't hold up since it's, well, cardboard. He retains the Matrix, which he can indeed open. Damnit, open.

: As a Takara product, Masterpiece Ultra Magnus was never released in the US, but was eventually released by Hasbro Australia in 2005 for their market as a Target-exclusive, retaining his Japanese packaging, with simple stickers stating a recommended age of 8+, as well as presenting Hasbro Australia's details and explaining what the product was.
Classics
*Ultra Magnus vs Skywarp: Battle For Autobot City (Multi-pack, 2007)

: A redeco of the Voyager class Optimus Prime, this release is part of the Target exclusive Battle for Autobot City set with Skywarp. The final production toy has several major paint paint application differences compared to the toy depicted on the packaging, including the loss of all light blue paint (including his faceplate and crest, both replaced with silver, darker blue on his thighs. Also his red eyes are replaced with the light piping color (blue). Additionally, it seems the smokestacks/double-barreled gun was originally going to be cast or painted white instead of the final's black.

: Like Optimus Prime, the toy's gimmicks are in his weapons - his smokestacks fold together to become a double-barreled gun, and his aero fairing splits and unfolds to become a large shotgun-like blaster. The two weapons also combine into a double-barreled shoulder cannon.

Titanium Series
*Ultra Magnus (6-inch Cybertron Heroes, 2007)

: Titanium Cybertron Heroes Ultra Magnus is an all-new sculpt constructed mostly of die-cast metal. For the first time, Ultra Magnus's cab and trailer are one piece, rather than a partsformer like the Generation 1 toy version. He transforms very similarly to the original toy, but the aformentioned truck cab now folds down into his back rather than detaching and reconnecting, with his head fliping out of the back of the cab.

: Ultra Magnus is armed with a white laser rifle and two shoulder-mounted non-firing rocket launchers. Unfortunately due to the robot mode-oriented design of this figure, as well as size limitations, the rear ramp is now part of his legs as detail and cannot fold down, nor is there access for vehicles to be transported, in any case.

*Ultra Magnus (6-inch Cybertron Heroes, 2007)

: A redeco of the 6-inch War Within Optimus Prime. In white!
Revoltech
* Ultra Magnus (2007)
Ultra Magnus is, unsurprisingly, a redeco of a simultaneously-released Optimus Prime/Convoy figure. A non-transforming but highly articulate action figure, Revoltech Ultra Magnus uses the Revoltech "revolver joints" for maximum poseability. His sculpting is explicitly in the style of Pat "serfdom" Lee's interpretation of Prime.

Magnus comes with a Matrix and photon rifle accessories, as well as a few alternate hands. A unique extra "hand" is a single moulded piece of Ultra Magnus and Optimus Prime's hands clasped together diagonally, so that when attached to both the Prime and Magnus' respective wrists one can create a scene of the two Autobot leaders shakin' like homeys. Additionally, although Magnus comes preassembled with the standard black revolver joints that Prime has, his packaging includes a sheet of replacement white joints one can use to customise Magnus with less obrtusive matching white joints (although not enough joints of the right style are included to swap out all black joints to optimal effect).
Jazz is Optimus Prime's right-hand man. Unlike Prowl, Prime's military strategist, Jazz responds well to change and improvisation. Whatever surprises the Decepticons spring, Jazz can deal with it. His position as Special Operations Agent calls for all the skills he possesses, yet he still has time to add some style into everything he does.

An admirer of Earth music of every kind, Jazz loves culture. More than most other Autobots, he has his finger on the pulse of Earth trends and lingo. Chances are, Jazz could tell you the status of almost any reality television show and each week's Top 40 list.

Jazz's personality makes him well-liked among the others of the Ark, especially Bumblebee. In fact, there is not one Autobot who doesn't like or admire Jazz.
Generation 1
:(Events from UK-only stories are in italics.)

Jazz was one of the Autobots who crashed on Earth four million years ago, waking up in 1984. Jazz showed an affinity with human pop culture almost immediately, responding to Prowl's non sequitor assertion that his "logic center dictates the most advantageous course of action in any situation" with "Well, that is neat-o, Prowl."

Jazz's first foray into action came when the Decepticons attacked him and his fellow Autobots at Witwicky Auto Repairs, resulting in the kidnapping of Sparkplug Witwicky. Later, when Sparkplug was rescued and it was learned that the auto repairman had devised a way for the Decepticons to convert Earth fuel into a usable resource, the Autobots were enraged. Jazz shot a stream of fire to prevent Sparkplug's escape, causing the human to suffer a heart attack.

It was discovered that after the Autobots crash landed on Earth, a rescue ship was sent after them which was buried somewhere in England. The Man of Iron, one of its crew, had awakened a number of times in England's history, and had become a local legend. Jazz, along with Trailbreaker, Mirage, and Bluestreak, were dispatched to England under Optimus Prime's supervision. Jazz befriended (and kidnapped) a young boy, Tommy Harker, whose dad worked at the castle where the Autobot rescue ship had been partially unearthed. After questioning the boy, it became apparent that the rescue ship must be destroyed. At the climax of a battle with the Decepticons over the buried ship, Jazz fired his weaponry down into it, and it was pulverized.

Jazz spent three weeks in a shipping container in order to get to Skagway, Alaska unnoticed by the Constructicons. Hoist then became stuck while scouting the base, and Jazz suffered brain damage while coming to his aid. Hoist was forced to drag the uncooperative, bewildered Jazz to through hostile territory to safety. The damage was repairable. The Mission

Generation 2
Animated continuity
:Voice Actor: Scatman Crothers, Wally Burr (US), Kōki Kataoka (Japan)

Blacker than the inside of a drive shaft -- that's how Jazz described the north side of Cybertron. The slang-talking operations specialist was on a recon mission to ascertain Cybertron's bleak energy reserves, and his reports are what prompted the Autobot mission to search for new sources of energy outside of their home world. Jazz served as pilot for the Ark until severe asteroid turbulence knocked him from his seat. The Decepticons took advantage of the confusion and attacked, and both vessels and parties crash-landed on Earth.

Four million years later, in 1984, the Autobots and Decepticons awoke reformatted to fit in on the planet. Jazz traded in his sleek Cybertronian form for an even sleeker Porsche 935 Turbo. As a lieutenant to Optimus Prime Jazz was charged with assembling task forces and special mission teams to counter the Decepticon threat. Jazz accompanied the first mission to an off-shore oil rig, where his wrist-mounted grappling hook and winch came in handy saving Optimus Prime. He used the same line to stop Prime from riding the rapids at Sherman Dam, and to pull Bluestreak and Ironhide from an unscheduled lake swim.

Jazz is one of the main characters in the series up to season three, only making a few cameos with no lines. This is because Scatman Crothers died not long after the movie finished production.

Throughout season one, Jazz is seen giving orders and accompanying Optimus Prime on almost any mission they undertake. In season two, Jazz actually uses his light and sound show attack on at least two occasions.

Dreamwave comic continuity
8.2 million years ago, Jazz and Prowl met Grimlock in the remains of Praxus' Helix Gardens to discuss the worthiness of Optronix to lead the Autobots. Jazz later attended the Matrix-transfer ceremony at the Chamber of the Ancients; he attempted to save Optronix - now Optimus Prime - when he was attacked by Decepticons, but was restrained by Grimlock. When Prime defeated the assassins, Jazz was convinced of his worth.

Soon afterwards, Jazz questioned Prowl's decision to allow Prime to explore the depths of the planet alone, but was prevented from pressing the issue any further when Shockwave attacked Iacon with an army of Decepticons. Jazz helped direct the battle from the Decagon, but the defenders were soon overwhelmed. Jazz was forced to begin evacuating important artifacts and hardware from the city, but was unable to finish before the Decepticons overran the Decagon. He and a handful of Autobots made a desperate last stand, but were saved from extinction when Starscream activated the planetary engines, devastating the city and forcing Shockwave's army to retreat.

7.4 million years ago, Jazz witnessed the space bridge explosion that seemingly killed Prime and Megatron. After the subsequent fragmentation of the Autobot faction, Jazz remained with the Prowl-led Autobots. He accompanied a group of Autobots to investigate a new mobile battle base at the Praetorus Wharf, only to learn that the base was fully operational. Despite the arrival of reinforcements, the titan was too much for Jazz and his cohorts; only when Shockwave recalled Trypticon to the Neutral Territories were they saved them from certain doom.

Battered, Jazz and the others limped back to Iacon, only to be forced to repel an attack on Autobase by The Fallen. Although Jazz, Mirage, and Sunstreaker fought valiantly, the mysterious entity defeated them and archived his objective: freeing Blitzwing from captivity.

Jazz was among the crew of the Ark when it crashed on Earth, and awoke in 1984 to battle the Decepticons. After years of fighting, Jazz and the other Autobots took part in Operation Liberation in 1998, a joint human/Autobot operation that defeated and captured the Earth-bound Decepticons. However, the Ark II, which was meant to convey the Autobots, the captured Decepticons, and a number of humans back to Cybertron was sabotaged by General Robert Hallo, sending Jazz and his comrades to the bottom of the Arctic Ocean.

A few years later, Optimus Prime awoke Jazz and a number of other Autobots, to combat the sinister Lazarus. He aided in the cleanup of Lazarus' latest target, the SmitCo oil refinery, and then moved on to Lazarus' base, which had been taken over by a revived Megatron and his deadly 'metal virus'. Jazz and the others briefly battled the Decepticons, but were stopped in their tracks when Hallo dropped a nuclear bomb on them. The virus absorbed most of the blast, leaving the Transformers unharmed, but continued to expand across the countryside. Jazz remained behind with a team to combat the virus, while Optimus Prime took a contingent of warriors to combat Megatron in San Francisco. Armed with Wheeljack-designed blasters to combat the virus, Jazz and his squad fought bravely, despite the blasters draining their energy and the well-meaning interference of the Canadian Army. But soon the virus overwhelmed them, forcing Wheeljack to sacrifice himself to destroy it. Jazz mourned over Wheeljack's fallen form.

Some time later, Jazz participated in a battle in Alaska over possession of an escape pod containing Scourge, only to be forced to flee with the other Autobots when Shockwave arrived from Cybertron, proclaiming a new era of peace. While Optimus Prime and a number of other Autobots surrendered to Shockwave's lieutenant Ultra Magnus, Jazz was left behind on Earth to command a small team of Autobots. After Magnus and Prime had departed, Jazz, Brawn, and Windcharger returned to the battlefield, but found no trace of the pod or Scourge.
Starscream has ascended to Decepticon leadership in the absence of their former lord, and though he must "seem" to carry on the long search for the lost Megatron and the Allspark to keep his position as leader, his greatest hope is that Megatron NEVER be found. ====Sector 7====
During late April/Early May of 2007, Sector 7 has intercepted two sound clips through agent Cod3x and another source. Apparently, Starscream wanted to make his presence known and left a message announcing that he could have the Allspark, and that Agent Powers would be the one to hand it over. These messages were somewhat garbled, as they were apparently received over a SETI@home system. So far, only these two "blips" have been analysed (the second still needing work), but more may come in the near future.
*Protoform Starscream (Deluxe, 2007)
:Japanese ID number: MD-05

:Based upon the 'Protoform' (Cybertronian) appearances of the Transformers in the Movie, Protoform Starscream transforms into his 'Entry' mode cybertronic rocket thing. This mode somewhat resembles a cybertronic spaceship, with a visible bridge between the two dorsal fins. A flame decoration piece fits to the back of the 'vehicle' over the missile projectile, creating the illusion of a flaming comet's tail. The bottom of the vehicle has small wheels to roll the toy across smooth surfaces.

:In robot mode, Starscream marginally resembles previous Starscreams, mostly G1 Starscream, with the large turbines on his chest, wings and vents on his legs. Due to his extensive use of ball joints, he has excellent articulation. Starscream is armed with a spring-loaded missile launcher that fires the previously mentioned projectile cast in the same broze colour as his body. Alternatively, the flame decoration can be fitted onto the end of the barrel.

:This toy also has an Automorphing feature, as most of the figures in the main line do. By pushing his head back during transformation, his shoulder pieces move back into place, while moving them forward will make the head pop back up. While either the missle or the flame can be placed into the gun, the flame can be placed onto the missle, using both at once.

: It's also entirely possible for this figure to eventually suffer from GPS, as the bronze plastic it is cast in has the same characteristic swirling that older figures exibited before it would deteriorate. However, newer materials and processes may prevent the toy from ever seeing a single crack form. It is highly suggested that this toy not be painted or altered in any way to maximize its life span. This means YOU, kitbashers.
*Starscream (Voyager, 2007)
:Japanese ID number: MD-08

: The Voyager-class version of Movie Starscream transforms into a very inaccurate, though officially-licensed Lockheed-Martin F-22 Raptor. It should also be noted that it is also somewhat inaccurate to the CG model, having much larger arms due to the blasters added to his hands, and being slightly bulkier around the chest.

*Starscream (Legends, 2007)

: Legends-class Starscream is a highly simplified, low-cost version of Starscream in his F-22 Raptor body. As such, he has a greatly compromised transformation sequence due to the smaller parts count, with limited articulated and detailing.
*Battle Blade Starscream (2007)
:Japanese ID number: QC-02

:Battle Blade Starscream transforms into a somewhat superdeformed F-22 Raptor, simplifying the overall design to the point of his feet noticably sticking out the aft of the fighter. Rather than having a seperate weapon, he only has a claw-like blade that flips over the right hand (hence 'Battle Blade') and a missile for his left hand.
*Starscream Barrel Roll Blaster (2007)
:This version of Starscream's altmode turns into not a robot, but a robot fist holding a two-barreled blaster. The guns in this form fire Nerf N-Stike sized foam missiles.

:Free inside specially marked boxes of Oscar Meyer Lunchables dinners, Starscream was one of six "Pocket Transformers" toy prizes. Molded in green, his tablet unfolds to reveal a picture of his robot mode inside.

:Well, its from the official ARG site, unless its an elaborate hoax. Plus Walky (admin) himself put Weaving in the movie cast and movie Megs entries. Easy enough to delete this article if it doesn't pan out. --FFN 10:23, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

:: I think this should be in universe and talk about Agent Weaving, the plant.us That is our thing right?
::: Sometimes, usually our articles about real people who worked on TF are done 'straight'. I'd prefer to save such jokes for snarky captions for Megatron (when more information is officially released). --FFN 10:49, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

:::: Tha difference being most actors/real people aren't also characters in the fiction. Thanks to the meta-game Agent Weaving is now a character in the fiction, and that must be covered. He's pretty unique now. Our own Sgt. Slaughter. -Zacwilliam(posting via Wii, so forgive the choppyness)
::::: Not so unique, really. 'Cause, Raksha, Ben Yee, Stan Bush. That's how this should be handled, with a fiction section. --KilMichaelMcC 11:20, 24 March 2007 (UTC)

::::: Ok' ya got me. They slipped my mind. I still think he's rather unique in that he's a famous person purposely introed into the fiction, vs. a fan-nod/easter egg but the difference is rather semantic and a fiction section for Hugo should serve fine (I just find the exclusively in-universe entries fun. :) )--ZacWilliam 13:35, 24 March 2007 (UTC)
::this:
::"Of course, this is all scandalous lies perpetrated by the Illumin- I mean, those heathen scientists. He's really an undercover agent working for Sector 7, trying to hide the N.B.E.'s from the public, and covering it up by acting fictional movies, like that thing with the jewelry or the internet that plugs into your brain. This is all, of course, to keep you from seeing the upcoming historical documentary."
::::Kil's right. Hugo Weaving was included in the Sector 7 website fiction. --ItsWalky 06:26, 27 May 2007 (UTC)
:::::That's well and good for the fiction section, but not for the top section about Hugo Weaving the ACTOR, not Hugo Weaving the quoteunquote "spy".--72.66.73.224 04:08, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
:::::::But it leads to confusion. Not everybody knows about that Sector 7 site. I sure didn't. So when I saw that description, I thought "oh gawd, this movie is giving birth to the biggest smartasses I've ever seen". Plus, wikis are about posting FACTS about stuff. FACT: Hugo Weaving is an actor. FACT: A website tying-in to a film Weaving is appearing him portrays him as a spy working on the film, in other words, an in-story hoax.--72.66.73.224 08:18, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
::::::::As one of the Australians here, and speaking for my fellow Australian, I think Hugo would be amused at this article. Or not. Anyway, there's no need to be all serious and uptight about what is an amusing way to announce a casting by making the very actor a character. - FFN @ class<div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki, a Wikia wiki.</small></div>
