Repugnus is an Autobot only out of convenience, it seems. Leader of a tribe that inhabits the swamplands south of the Steel Shard Mountains, Repugnus and his people value their freedom very highly. As such, he has a seething hatred of Scourge, the dictator ruler of the Jungle Planet, and fights to keep the dragon's influence out of his land.

His hate runs so deep that he has banished his own brother, Undermine, from his swampy home for being associated with Scourge. Cold, man.

: A redeco of Undermine, Repugnus transforms into a red, black, and yellow robotic dinosaur resembling a spinosaur, a fin-backed predator. Inserting a Cyber Planet Key into the back of his fin flips out a blade from the front edge; this blade can be used in both beast and robot modes. His dino-tail becomes a flail like weapon for robot mode.

: He came with a silver-bordered Jungle-style Key, with the Key code "s48r" stamped on the back.
Trivia
* Confusingly, Repugnus's key code bio makes explicit, pointed reference to how the original Repugnus was an Autobot, implying in-context that Cybertron Repugnus is a Decepticon (which, obviously, he is not). According to Hasbro copywriter Forest Lee at 2006, Cybertron Repugnus was going to be a Decepticon until they realized that the original was an Autobot. This required a hasty faction-switch for the toy, as the current Transformers team tries to keep character names on the same "side" they started out on.

The majestic predatory cat Snowstalker once prowled the distant frozen lands and mountaintops of prehistoric Earth. Like all members of her species she was typically a loner, but a chance encounter with the Maximals and Predacons would change her life... and also prematurely end it.

Fiction
Beast Wars cartoon
Snowstalker was the animal template scanned by Tigatron's stasis pod. With his memory circuits damaged, Tigatron felt like he was more animal than robot, and he chose to stay in the wild alongside Snowstalker. Fallen Comrades The two roamed and hunted together, forming a strong pair bond--Optimus Primal was aware of how special Snowstalker was to Tigatron.

By a cruel twist of fate, in a heated battle with the Predacons an errant shot from Tigatron caused a rockslide on the mountain Snowstalker was climbing, and she was crushed to death. In his grief, Tigatron marked her final resting place with a grave stone made out of stacked stones. At the time he swore he would never be able to bury another friend and thus could no longer participate in combat of any kind, though he soon had to reconsider. Law of the Jungle

Trivia
* White tigers are an extremely rare product of recessive genes, and the very few individuals encountered in the wild have all inhabited humid tropical environments. Snowstalker (and thus Tigatron) may not represent a proper tiger as modern humans would envision, but, rather, another big tiger-like cat that in the subsequent four million years has gone extinct. If indeed Snowstalker is part of a contemporary species of tigers, then it is also possible that she would have been the product of inbreeding, since mating a cub with its mother can also produce white tigers.
* Since Tigatron's animal mode was scanned from Snowstalker's, that makes them totally lesbians.
In the fires of an unknown place between time and space, the Vok aliens de-Sparked and fused the bodies of Tigatron and Airazor together to form Tigerhawk, a Vok-controlled super warrior intended to bring justice to the time-disrupting Transformers on prehistoric Earth. But when the two extracted Sparks unite and re-enter Tigerhawk's body, a different purpose and personality seems to emerge.

Tigerhawk was easily the most powerful Transformer shown in the Beast Wars era. In robot mode, Tigerhawk can fly, has missile launchers under each arm, his wings double as shields, and he has wrist-mounted electricity cannons. His beast mode contains razor sharp claws and teeth, as well as a pair of chainguns on his forearms. However, these outstanding powers are nothing compared to his uncanny shamanic abilities to control the weather and terrain of Earth almost at whim.

Concerned with Megatron's constant futzing with the timestream, the Vok extracted the Sparks of the inert, captive Maximals Tigatron and Airazor. Their bodies were merged together to form the staggeringly powerful Tigerhawk. Inhabited by two members of the Vok species, Tigerhawk travelled to Earth as a blindingly powerful energy comet.

Tigerhawk's energy-ball plunged to Earth, impacting and utterly destroying the Darksyde. Declaring himself the emmissary of the Vok, he charged Megatron with "the willful disruption of time and space", and demanded Megatron's immediate surrender. Megatron was not so keen on this idea, and ordered a Predacon attack instead. Tigerhawk engaged and defeated the entire Predacon force, then shot down Megatron. Optimus Primal arrived at that point, concerned that if Megatron was killed, the Spark of the original Megatron would also be destroyed, thus worsening the damage to the time stream. Tigerhawk dismissed Primal's concerns as intolerable interference, and buried him in the ground with a wave of his hand. Tigerhawk was seconds away from executing the unconscious Predacon leader when Tarantulas disabled him with specialized versions of his arachnoid helper-drones.

Tigerhawk awoke to find himself a captive in Tarantulas' lair. The spider attempted to destroy Tigerhawk's mind by forcefully removing the Vok presence inhabiting it. Due to a fluke coincidence, Tarantulas only succeeded in destroying himself, alongside the Vok who had controlled Tigerhawk. The Sparks of Airazor and Tigatron, which followed Tigerhawk to Earth, merged to become one and entered Tigerhawk's body. Other Victories

Tigerhawk's memories appeared vague -- at first he seemed not to remember being Tigatron or Airazor, yet after a moment he recognized Earth as "home". He remembered enough specifics of the Beast Wars to find surprising the appearance of Cheetor as a Transmetal 2 and Optimus Primal in his "Optimal" form. Nemesis, Part 1

Megatron, not long afterwards, discovered the Decepticon warship Nemesis, and attempted to use it to destroy the Ark itself. Tigerhawk attempted to single-handedly stop the Nemesis, and despite holding his own for quite some time against the legendary warship as well as simultaneously draining the ship of it's power just by holding it off, he was killed by the ship's main cannon. Nemesis, Part 2

:Note: The extremely short duration of Tigerhawk's appearance on the show was the result of a strange confluence of factors. At the time, it was not at all certain that the Beast Wars franchise would be ending. However, at one point, after Tigerhawk had already been written into the show at Hasbro's explicit request, the company considered not releasing his toy at all. Thus he was ordered killed off immediately, and was. Hasbro eventually decided to release the toy regardless! Tigerhawk's toy did not appear on shelves until well after his death on the show -- an unusual circumstance to be sure.
Airazor's body did battle with Tigatron, though Tigatron could not bring himself to hurt Airazor due to his affection for her. Desiring death over harming her, Tigatron gave her one of his katana and knelt down.

As evil Airazor struck his neck with the blade, the real Airazor's spark traveled through the katana and into Tigatron's body. Inside cyberspace, the two reunited Maximals embraced, vowing never to be apart again. Under his beast head is a small cockpit with a pilot's chair (see Trivia below).

: Like Transmetal 2 Megatron, Tigerhawk features a somewhat aborted 'third mode', which is just a minor rearrangement of his beast mode parts with his vacuum-metalized helmet covering his beast tiger head.

: In robot mode Tigerhawk has a decent level of articulation, though his elbow joints are designed in such a way as to not be particularly useful. Due to his heels being vacuum-metalized , they are especially susceptible to scratching as owners are likely to frequently reposition them to better cope with the heavy wings and gimmicks on his back.

*Originally, Tigerhawk, along with Optimal Optimus and Transmetal 2 Megatron were to have small driver-like figures sitting on control chairs located in cockpits on their bodies. These drivers were meant to represent their sparks. But Hasbro then later realized that kids might confuse these spark representations as drivers controlling the robots, so they were abandoned, but the cockpits remain.

: However, the spark pilot was eventually used in the Japanese release of Cryotek.

*Even before they were combined into Tigerhawk, Airazor and Tigatron had a gender-ambiguous history. Tigatron was a male robot with a beast mode that seemed to be scanned from a female protoform, while Airazor was a female character in the US and male in Japan.
Beast Machines
What was known as "the Matrix" in Beast Wars is first referred to as "the Allspark." It is defined as the dimension from which all Transformer sparks that exist, have existed, or ever will exist originate, existing there as a collective whole.

When a Transformer is "born," a single spark departs the Allspark and suffuses itself into the new Transformer body, giving it true life and soul. When the Transformer then reaches the end of its life, the spark departs its body and returns to the Allspark; all the knowledge that the Transformer acquired and all of its life experiences are contained with the spark, and they are added to the totality that is the Allspark.

(Note: The connection of the Allspark to Primus is not made explicit at this point but seems an obvious one to many fans).

Dreamwave
The Well of All Sparks exists on Cybertron and seems to have some connection to the mystical source of Transformer life.

The fictive foundation of Sparks and the Allspark laid down in the Beast Era material is taken up and brought together with all the past G1 material and the concept of Primus, to first form the idea of The Allspark as it has been known since.

Transformers 2007
In the Transformers movie 2007 the Allspark is seen as being a gigantic cube with the transformer's language inscribed all over it's surface. The cube has the singular honer of being the only thing in the movie that has the ability to change it's size as is charcteristic of the transformers. It also has the ability to bestow upoun any technological device a spark and the ability to transform as it does to a steering wheel, a soda machine, and an Xbox 360. It also has the power to regenerate a transformers body if it has been damaged as it does with Frenzy.

Means of access
Applying the existence of the Allspark retroactively to previous continuities (as the Primus-singularity retcon allows. See his page for details on that) leads to a new interpretation of some existing artifacts.

*Most prominently there are the Matrix of Leadership and the Creation Matrix, the legendary talismans carried by Autobot leaders in the Generation 1 cartoon and Marvel Comic respectively. The abilities of both these artifacts can be glossed as a result of their functioning as connections to the Allspark dimension.

*Secondly, there is the mega-computer Vector Sigma, which, like the Matrix, endows new Transformers with life. In the Beast Era the most common method of communication with the Allspark via Vector Sigma involves the use of its shell program, the Oracle, which permits a "receptive spark" to commune directly with the collective intelligence of the Allspark. (Though in some material there is evidence that the Oracle has been subverted to serve Quintesson ends.) Prior to the Oracle's existance, Optimus Prime used the empty shell of the Matrix of Leadership to access what we would see as the Allspark through Vector Sigma and spoke directly to the dead Alpha Trion who had previously been shown to have merged with Vector Sigma AND to reside in the Matrix (a discrepancy at the time that is now rectified by the retcon application of the Allspark to the G1 cartoon).

Trivia
*Writer and Beast Wars story editor Larry DiTillio intended for this spiritual plane to also be the location of the Vok Nebula and thus having the Vok be the source of all Beast Era sparks. However, this concept was ultimately not used. Considering that DiTillio considered the Vok to be the evolved form of the Swarm after absorbing the Creation Matrix energy from Optimus Prime, this still ties the source of sparks back to the lifeforce of Primus.
Where...all are one.

:Japanese name: Matrix Zone

Evolution
The concept of The Allspark as it now exists has evolved and coalesced over the course of almost all Transformer fiction since the line began. The specific concepts that evolved into "The Allspark" are traced below:

Generation 1 Cartoon
The Autobot Matrix of Leadership is a powerful, mysterious, and ancient vessel that contains the wisdom of all past Autobot leaders.

Marvel Comic
The Autobot Creation Matrix is a powerful and ancient vessel that contains the essence of the Transformers God Primus. All Transformers life-forces are said to be fragments of Primus' own.

Beast Wars
A Transformer's life-force is first described as a spark. This spark is said to come from "the Matrix" when a Transformer is born and return to it upon his death.

(NOTE: The exact nature of "the Matrix" referred to here is not established. The story editors had at first envisioned it as a mysterious facility on Cybertron, from which Maximal protoforms emerged, counterpart to the Predacon "Pit" facility. These concepts did not make it into the show in any form but were much later made canonical by the Razor's Edge fan club text story. Regardless of this later use, at the time and for years after, the Matrix to which Beast Wars referred was left an open question, and so its sequel Beast Machines took up the concept and ran with it where it chose...)

Somewhare in the vast universe, two entities are discussing the experiment on "Nexus Earth". Though the project was "sterilized", there remains a threat. The entities then reveal Tigatron and Airazor, then merge their bodies together, creating a new Transformer. Suddenly, the sensors detect a sudden energy surge on a ballistic approach for the base. Tarantulas and Rhinox both detect the energy surge, and recognize that it can only be one thing.

The aliens are back.

The Darksydes defenses are ineffective against the anamoly, and Megatron orders the Predacons to abandon the base. Making contact, the energy ball destroys the Darksyde instantly. Optimus Primal heads for the base, fearing that the spark of the original Megatron may have been destroyed, and sends Cheetor to assist. From the ashes of the Darksyde, the alien Transformer appears, and introduces himself as Tigerhawk, emmissary of the Vok. He dispatches the other Predacons with ease, then sentences Megatron to death for his interference with the timestream. The two battle, but Tigerhawk is victorious. During the battle, Cheetor is suddenly incapacitated. As Tigerhawk prepares the killing blow, Optimus arrives. Tigerhawk greets him in a friendly manner, but askes him not to interfere. Optimus trys to explain Megatron's situation, but is entombed in the earth for his efforts. However, Tigerhawk is attacked by Tarantulas' spider drones, which allows Tarantulas to drag him to his lair. Meanwhile, Cheetor is visted by the sparks of Tigatron and Airazor, who guide him to Tarantulas' lair.

At the lair, Tigerhawk revives, and claims to know Tarantulas. The mad scientist reveals that he intends to use Tigerhawk to destroy the Maximals while he detonates the Ark. He also reveals why he wants to destroy it: Tarantulas and the Tripredacus Council are not descendants of the Autobots and the Decepticons, but have "other origins". This would allow them to control Cybertron and conquer the universe. As Tarantulas activates the deprogramming device, the two Vok entities emerge from Tigerhawk and enter Tarantulas. The device then shoots a bolt of energy at Tarantulas, which throws him into a nearby Energon crystal. The crystal detonates, destroy Tarantulas and the two aliens in a freakish yet totally hardcore manner. Cheetor manages to drag Tigerhawk out, but is knocked unconcious when the lair explodes.

Optimus locates Cheetor and Tigerhawk, as the sparks of Tigatron and Airazor merge and enter Tigerhawk. Welcoming their old friends and new friend back, the Maximals depart for home...as Megatron watches on.
Cheetor is visted by the sparks of Tigatron and Airazor, who guide him to Tarantulas' lair.

As the lair, Tigerhawk revives, and claims to know Tarantulas.

Story editor Bob Skir describes the Beast Machine television series as a epic novel for television.".

Controversial even by the standards of other Transformers reinventions (!), Beast Machines is remembered by some as the series which tried to tackle a heavy philosophical concepts--such as what it meant to live in an increasingly technological society and the dichotomy between the desires of the individual and the needs of society and the paradox of a living technological world. The series' detractors complained about an alleged "hippie" agenda of this follow-up to Beast Wars, and a few went so far as to send Skir death threats, causing him to cancel a convention appearance in 2000. Beast Machines followed the adventures of the core Beast Wars cast upon their return home to Cybertron; there, Optimus Primal and his crew find that the whole planet has been made mindless slaves of Megatron, who somehow escaped his captivity (seen at the close of Beast Wars). Throughout Beast Machines two seasons, Primal and his fellow Maximals learn to balance their technological side with a newly-retconned biological aspect, eventually turning Cybertron into an technorganic paradise. Like Beast Wars, Beast Machines was fully CGI; unlike Beast Wars, the show did not go over well. Hasbro's next foray into animation, perhaps as an effort to recover, would be to bring over a year-old Japanese show for consumption in the US, until a new story could be concocted.
Characters
Because developing new CGI character models was, at the time, an expensive and time-consuming process, the number of named on-screen characters in Beast Machines was relatively small compared to most other Transformers shows. It is thus practical to list all the Transformers who appeared in the cartoon. They are listed in order of appearance. (Most drones are not listed, and neither are incidental flashback characters.) Note that many characters besides these are also full-fledged Beast Machines characters, having appeared in other media.

Maximals
*Optimus Primal
*Rattrap
*Cheetor
*Blackarachnia
*Nightscream
*Savage/Noble
*Silverbolt
*Botanica

Vehicons
*Megatron
*Diagnostic Drone (sparkless, hence not a Transformer, but had a speaking role and a personality)
*Jetstorm
*Tankor
*Thrust
*Rhinox (nominally the same character as Tankor)
*Waspinator (nominally the same character as Thrust)
*Obsidian
*Strika

Other
*The Oracle (not much of a personality, but definitely a major speaking role)

Trivia
Mainframe Entertainment executive Dan DiDio explicitly told Bob Skir and Marty Isenberg to ignore all previous Transformers cartoons when writing Beast Machines, because "Beast Wars was too continuity-heavy". It clearly did not work out that way.

The theme tune for the show was Leftfield's Phat Planet. This was also used for a famous Guiness advert. The latter proved a more popular TV slot. It was also used in an episode of C.S.I. during a scene involving parasailing.

Beast Machines is also unique in that it is the only Transformers series, thus far, that takes place almost entirely on Cybertron.

:Waspinator is a Predacon in the Beast Era portion of the Generation 1 continuity family.

Waspinator is God's whipping boy. If something goes wrong, it happens to him. If something blows up, he is usually at the epicenter of the explosion (or at least close enough) and is therefore blasted into his components. He also doesn't talk very well (he hazz a problem with pronounzzing zzertain letterzz), so he's easy to make fun of. Some might consider this speech quirk a "lisp", but really, he just likes the letter "Z" a bit too much. (So, those prone to witticisms could call it a a "lizzzzp.") He also refers to himself in the third person, and to most other people by nicknames like "cat-bot" and "two-head". Megatron has classified the harebrained Predacon as expendable, much to Waspinator's dismay. This is especially true after the many Transmetal upgrades that enabled Megatron himself to take to the sky.

However, Waspinator's not stupid. He has caught on to his lot in life and tries to avoid his fate as often as possible, but his fate always finds him - in the forms of friend and foe, fleshlings, and even Mother Nature. Thankfully, Waspinator is almost supernaturally durable and has survived the most devastating and humiliating of defeats. Whether this is a boon or a curse is anyone's guess.
While Megatron, his lieutenant, and another underling stole a Maximal relic, the Golden Disk, the Predacon who would later name himself Waspinator stole a ship with the help of an accomplice he nicknamed "Beakbot." The two had a contest to name the ship, but "Waspinator" lost, and thus the stolen ship was dubbed the Darksyde. "Waspinator" believed Buzzerbot would have been a better name. For reasons known only to Primus, Megatron agreed.

After escaping Cybertron, the Darksyde was intercepted by the Axalon and the Chromia 10, but after an intense space battle, only the Darksyde and the Axalon remained. Megatron ordered "Waspinator" to execute their planned transwarp jump, opening up a portal which both ships entered. Dawn of Future's Past

Waspinator, part of Megatron's rogue band of Predacons, landed on an unknown planet with dangerous levels of unstable energon. To protect themselves from the energon, the Predacons took organic beast modes. In Waspinator's case, he now transformed into a large green wasp. The first conflict between the stranded Predacons and their Maximal pursuers came when the Maximal Cheetor stumbled across Waspinator.

When Rhinox had his personality program converted to that of a Predacon, he started surreptitiously taking out the various Predacons. He swung a cargo crate into Waspinator, giving him a concussion. As a result, Waspy flew around in a daze, claiming to be the Insecticon Shrapnel as well as the great Wonko the Sane. This dementia was apparently reversed when Cheetor later got annoyed at his yattering and shot him down. Dark Designs

The "ghost" of Starscream traveled through time and possessed his body (even changing the Predacon sigil on his helmet to a Decepticon one). It took a major energon explosion to dislodge Starscream's immortal spark from Waspinator's body. Possession

After the mysterious aliens detonated the unstable energon on the planet using the artificial second moon, Waspinator fell into the Restoration pool on the bridge of the Darksyde as the ship was rocked by the force of the transwarp wave resultant from the moon's explosion. Bathed in the regenerative fluids, this prevented him from becoming a Transmetal. He was also the first to realize that this seemingly unknown planet was, in fact, Earth. Dinobot had made the same realization and stole into the Darksyde to retrieve both of Megatron's disks. Waspinator proposed the two work together to steal the discs, and much to his surprise, Dinobot agreed... and threw him into the security shield. Waspinator was crushed into a cube by the disks' security contraption, leaving Dinobot free to steal the discs unharmed, and crawled away to the CR chamber using his only free leg. Coming of the Fuzors, Part 1

After the destruction of the Darksyde at Tigerhawk's hands, Megatron sent Waspinator, Inferno, and Quickstrike on an errand to find a new base, which was really nothing more than pointless busywork while Megatron went to do more important things. As the trio staked out an early human tribe that had taken up residence in a series of caves, Waspinator decided he'd finally had enough and ripped off his Predacon symbol, declaring himself out of the Beast Wars.

"I said no! Dragon-Bot command you, Sub-Commander Kiss-Butt! Dragon-Bot not command Waspinator! Not any more! Waspinator sick of being evil! Sick of being Predacon! And Waspinator especially sick of getting blown to scrap all the time! Sooo, Waspinator quit! As of now, which means Ant-Bot and Two-Head can just pucker their mandibles and plant big, wet, juicy one right here on Waspinator's big . . . fat . . . stripy . . . "

At this point Waspinator was interrupted by getting blown to scrap by Inferno and Quickstrike. Nemesis, Part 1

His parts recovered by the tribe, Waspinator remained on Earth while all the other surviving Transformers set off for Cybertron, and led the tribe, declaring that he was finally...happy. Nemesis, Part 2
Sadly, for Waspinator, the Protohumans he had ruled over grew tired of his presence and forced him to leave the planet and return to Cybertron (and his proper time) under his own power. There his spark was removed and used to power the Vehicon general Thrust. *Waspinator (Deluxe, 1996/1997)
: Japanese ID number: D-3

: Waspinator transforms into a large organic wasp. His stinger separates to become a hand-held spring-loaded missile launcher for his robot mode; the bolts are stored on the underside of his insect-wings. His head is on a vertical column that rotates around a horizontal axle; each end has a different head, one "mutant", one "robot". The "mutant" head was used as the base for his CGI model, and thus the norm for his fictional portrayals.

: The Takara version of Waspinator uses slightly brighter, more primary colors than the Hasbro version.

: This mold was also used to make Buzz Saw and Dirgegun.
: In Japan, Waspinator was available both individually and in a two-pack with Cheetor. The two-pack version was unchanged from the normal individually-packaged one.

: Japanese ID number: D-42

: Now an almost completely robotic figure, Transmetal Waspinator transforms into a robotic wasp and features a third "jet" mode, flipping and folding his wins into a fighter-jet configuration as well as flipping a cockpit/nosecone between his insect-head mandibles.

: Though he appears solid black at first glance, he is actually made of very dark transparent-black/green plastic.

: The Takara version of this toy is almost completely identical, except the "WASPINATOR" tampograph was replaced with "DESTRON" and the Predacon sigil.

*Metals Cheetas vs. Metals Waspitor (Multi-pack, 1999)

: In Japan, Transmetal Waspinator was available both individually and in a two-pack with Transmetal Cheetor. The two-pack version was unchanged from the normal individually-packaged one.

*Waspinator (Deluxe, 1999)
: This toy is a redeco of the first Waspinator toy. A "FoxKids!" sticker on the packaging promoted the cartoon, which was playing on Fox at the time. It is also hideously ugly, consisting primarily of slate blue and green-gold plastic, with dark blue (barely) translucent parts.

*Waspinator (Deluxe Transmetal, 2000)
:This toy is a redeco of the Transmetal Waspinator toy. A "FoxKids!" sticker on the packaging promoted the cartoon, which was playing on Fox at the time. The toy's new deco bears more than a passing resemblance to Buzz Saw.
*Waspinator (Tenth Anniversary, 2006)

: This toy is a slight redeco of the first Waspinator toy to make it closer to Waspinator's cartoon appearance. He came with the head to Transmutate plus a DVD with the episode "Possession".

* Waspitor (Telemocha figure, 2007)
: Japanese ID number: TM-04

: This toy is a ridiculously-extensively-painted redeco of the first Waspinator toy to make it almost completely show-accurate to Waspinator's cartoon appearance (forgiving mold issues and unpaintable plastic, of course). He came with a DVD of the episode "Power Surge".
*Darksyde Megatron and Darksyde Waspinator (Bagged set, 2006)

: Available exclusively at the 2006 event itself, this two-pack represents Waspinator and Megatron before the events of the Beast Wars show. "Darksyde Waspinator" is a Basic-sized figure, originally used for Machine Wars Skywarp and Thundercracker, which autotransforms to robot mode from a Dassault Rafale fighter jet. (One can surmise, however, that it is meant to represent a Cybertronic design in this case.) His rifle splits into two pieces, which store in the backs of his lower legs.

: This mold was also used to make Beast Wars II Dirge, Robots in Disguise Skyfire, and Robot Masters Wing Stun.

Unreleased
For a brief time, Hasbro's official website checklist featured listings for two "Halloween Horrorcon Value Packs" that were to be Wal*Mart exclusives... which also likely explains why they were canceled. (Wal*Mart had taken a good half-dozen exclusives and released them more-or-less simultaneously, leading to a huge glut. A lot of other Transformers exclusives were canceled during the Universe era.)

In 2004, several test-shots appeared on ebay in a group, among them the Transmetal Waspinator toy with opaque-salmon wings and lavender insect legs. This, presumably, was to have been the Universe incarnation of Waspinator, as the other toys in the group line up with the names given for the two Halloween sets. He was to come in a "Vs." two-pack with the presumably-Autobot character Nightprowler.

Trivia
* Waspinator was originally chosen by Hasbro to be one of the characters killed off for the second season of the Beast Wars cartoon to help make way for new characters (read: product). However, story editors Bob Forward and Larry DiTillio convinced them to spare Waspinator on the grounds of his popularity with the online fan-base, so Terrorsaur and Scorponok took the plunge instead.

* Waspinator was originally slated to appear in the very first Beast Wars video game, and even had a character model built. However, he was ultimately unused and only appeared in footage taken from the Beast Wars cartoon.

* Waspinator appears to be the inspiration for Buzzer-Bot from the Playskool Go-Bots line.

*As a side note, Waspinator's original and 10th Anniversary toys contain a high number of ball and swivel joints, which more than easily separate. Makes him a little more show-accurate, after all.

*When Waspinator is hit from behind by a stasus pod ship made by Blackarachnia, a toilet is seen falling from his smashed body.

*According to Waspinator's profile in Beast Wars Universe, he likes flying and nectar.
