Seacon

:The Seacons are a Decepticon subgroup in the Generation 1 continuity family.

The six Seacons are the Decepticons' undersea combat specialists. They all transform into mechanical beasts resembling (more or less) aquatic life forms from Earth. The six combine into the super warrior Piranacon (also spelt 'Pirranacon').

The team consists of:

* The cruel and calculating Snaptrap, their team leader. He transforms into a snapper turtle (sort of).

* The clumsy and insecure Nautilator, who transforms into lobster-monster.

* The vicious Overbite (also known as Jawbreaker in the Marvel UK comic continuity). He becomes a shark with extra limbs. Truly.

* The sneaky Seawing, a manta ray.

* The unhygenic and polluting Skalor.

* The sadistic and strong Tentakil, who transforms into a squid.

The Piranacon combination is different from most other combiner teams. Snaptrap becomes Piranacon's torso, but the smaller Seacons can become not only one of Piranacon's limbs, but also a hand weapon for the giant. It is for this reason that the five smaller toys also have a 'weapon' mode (essentially their sea-creature mode on a stand with a gun clicked on). This makes Piranacon not only a combiner, but a Targetmaster.

:(Note: Events from the UK-only comic stories are in italics.)

The Seacons were summoned to Earth by Shockwave, who had them put their undersea abilities to use fortifying the Decepticons’ sub-aquatic island headquarters. Outfitted with Earth modes by Shockwave, the Seacons were going about their task when they met with their first challenge, which also proved to be one of their greatest – they were ordered to defend the island against the insane, time-travelling future Decepticon, Galvatron. The Seacons gave a good account of themselves, merging into Piranacon for extra power, but ultimately, the team was defeated by their stronger adversary, only for Galvatron to reveal that he had not planned an attack at all, merely wishing to talk. Now, however, he claimed that Shockwave had made an enemy of him – although it was all part of a plan to destabilise his leadership. Enemy Action! Seeking a weapon that could truly combat Galvaton, Shockwave sought out the former Decepticon leader, Megatron, who had been missing in action for some time. When what was believed to be his body (but was, in actuality, a clone of him) was located in the Thames river by entrepreneur Richard Branson, Overbite was dispatched with some of the Decepticon jets to bring the body to Shockwave. Snaptrap subsequently repaired the clone’s physical damage, and aided Shockwave in using the psycho probe to brainwash it into his service. Salvage

Following this, the Seacons departed Shockwave’s service and joined with Ratbat, the leader of the primary Earth-based Decepticon force. Ratbat had relocated the Decepticons’ island base to the Florida Keys, disguising it as a holiday resort named "Club Con" to allow the Seacons to search the seabed for a sunken pirate ship, the treasure chest of which contained two Autobot tapes, Grandslam and Raindance. The recovery mission was successful, but the tapes were then stolen by the Autobot Blaster, and the holidaymakers on the island had their peace and quiet rudely interrupted as the Seacons erupted from the ocean and attacked, searching for Blaster. In the ensuing battle, Blaster sent the tapes back to the depths of the oceans, encouraging the Seacons to call off the attack and head after them.Club Con!

The tapes, it was revealed, were sent to Earth centuries ago to warn the Autobots there of the approaching threat posed by the Underbase, a massive space-born information storehouse that could convey infinite power. Unfortunately, it was the Decepticon, Starscream, who managed to attain the Underbase’s power, turning on Autobot and Decepticon alike and attempting to conquer Earth. The Seacons were part of the attempted defence of New York, striking at Starscream from the East River, but were all deactivated by the cosmically-powered villain. Dark Star!

A few years later, in the Earthforce era, Megatron found himself lacking in troops during Decepticon civil war. Seeking to acquire more warriors, he projected his mind back in time to Starscream's attack on New York, taking possession of Snaptrap in hopes of saving the Seacons from destruction so that they might serve him in the future. He was pursued by Prowl, who prevented his scheme.

Born in Nagano, Japan, Ginrai found the country's atmosphere stifling for most his early life, and left for the United States at age seventeen to find himself. He took a job as a long-haul truck driver for Union Transportation, which offered him the freedom and solitude of the open road. His easy-going personality earned him many friends amongst his "brothers" in the trucker fraternity.
:Voice actor: Hiroshi Takemura (Japanese)

The story that would bring Ginrai into contact with the Transformers began an indeterminate number of years ago, when the super-energy alien being and self-styled "Decepticon god" Devil Z stole several Transtectors - including one intended to be used by the legendary Autobot leader Optimus Prime - from an area of space known as the G Nebula. Already filled with the Tenchokon of the nebula, the Transtectors were then scattered across the Earth by Devil Z, that they might absorb the planet's Chichokon. Devil Z planned to have human beings bond to the Transtectors, adding their inherent Jinchokon to the equation, thereby creating a new super-robotic lifeform - Godmasters.

Through undivulged circumstances, the Transtector intended for Prime assumed the form of a red tractor trailer cab, and came to rest in a small garage in California. The unwitting garage owner rented the cab to several truckers, but always found it returned early, with complaints of unusual, even supernatural, incidents.

Two years after coming to America, Ginrai happened to be transporting an ill dolphin to the Ocean Research Institue of California, run - unbeknownst to him - by the Autobot Pretender Diver. Destiny stepped in when Ginrai's truck broke down on the way, and he pulled in at this very garage, where the owner rented him the Transtector to complete his delivery. In the glove box of the cab, he discovered a pair of Master-Braces and slipped them on his wrists, only to discover that he was unable to remove them. When Diver laid eyes upon the bracelets, he recognised the basic design of them, and insisted that Ginrai take him back to the garage where he had found the truck. On the way, however, they were attacked by the Decepticon Godmaster brothers Hydra and Buster, who forced the truck off a cliff. Accidentally touching the bracelets as he attempted to escape the crushed cab, Ginrai was infused with the Masterforce and a suit of armor materialised around him, healing both himself and the Transtector, as they combined and transformed. Now a Godmaster himself, Ginrai saw the shocked Decepticon off. The Hero is Chosen, and His Name is Ginrai!

Ginrai was at first unsure of what to make of his new powers, and was not entirely keen on joining the Autobots, as the notion of operating as part of a command structure, and being tied down to a specific place ran directly counter to his desire for freedom in his life. Although he promised to aid them when necessary "for the sake of the world" - a mantra that he admitted he had a weakness for - he soon bore witness to the true evil of the Decepticons when Hydra and Buster killed several of his fellow truckers while searching for him. Ginrai was still, however, not entirely willing to join the Autobots, but fate kept on pushing him to do so - he soon suffered a prophetic dream, after which he discovered three more pairs of Master-Braces in his Transtector, indicating the presence of more Godmasters on Earth.

When Ginrai brought the bracelets to Japan for study at the Autobot base, events began to escalate as Transtector activated on its own, transporting Ginrai to his birthplace of Nagano, or more specifically, a construction site at the base of Mount Yatsugatake there. Blasting for a tunnel through the mountain had been blocked by a mysterious object, which proved to be a trailer for Ginrai's truck, which burst from the tunnel during another battle with Buster and Hydra. Later still, the two brothers lured Ginrai into a public battle that they might blame the conflict on him, and turn public opinion against the Autobots; the plan was failed, but a friend of Ginrai's offered the suggestion that his becoming a Godmaster was the will of God himself.

Not long thereafter, in a battle with King Poseidon, Ginrai discovered that his cab and trailer were capable of performing a "Double On," merging together to create the super-robot, "Super Ginrai." Additionally, after appearing on TV in hopes of locating the remaining three Godmasters, to whom he would give the Master-Braces, Ginrai successfully located Lightfoot, Ranger and Road King, and recruited them to the Autobot side. With this success, the Autobot leader Metalhawk stepped down as commander and requested that Ginrai take his place. After some deliberation, and much hassling from the other Autobot Pretenders, who wouldn't let him say no, Ginrai accepted.

When Grand Maximus arrived on Earth to inform Ginrai's Autobots of the impending arrival of the Decepticon super-weapon, BlackZarak, he provided them with the schematics necessary to create the drone, Godbomber. Metalhawk and the Pretenders raced to finish the construction of Godbomber, but as the so-called "Bomber Project" neared completion, Ginrai was lured into the desert by a disguised Buster and Hydra (under the auspices of performing some stunt driving for a movie), and was attacked and resoundingly defeated by the Decepticon Ambassador of Destruction, Overlord. Following a failed attack on the Bomber Project facility, the barely-healed Ginrai insisted upon taking the fight to the Decepticons, combining with the completed Godbomber to form "God Ginrai." In his new form, Ginrai confroned Overlord and BlackZarak on the moon, where he fully embraced his role as protector of Earth, and defeated the Decepticons with the aid of Grand Maximus.

Some time later, BlackZarak was able to return to Earth and merge with Devil Z, forcing the Autobots into a series of battle to protect countries all around the Earth. Tracking the villains to the Matterhorn, God Ginrai was forced into a final battle with the hybrid entity atop the mountain and succeeded in decapitating the villain, but BlackZarak then assumed a new hydra alternate mode, which God Ginrai destroyed with his God Fire Guts attack. His powers boosted by the Headmaster Juniors God Ginrai then executed the almighty Final Fire Guts attack, destroying Devil Z.

With Devil Z's death, the bonding between Transtector and human that he had engineered ceased to exist, and Ginrai and the other humans were separated from their Transtectors. The Transtectors, however, had been evolved through their partnership with the humans, and continued to exist as true super-robot life forms. Having imprinted his human partner's personality, Ginrai's Transtector departed for space to pursue the surviving Decepticons and rejoin the greater war.

Masterforce manga
The Masterforce manga forgoes re-telling Ginrai's origins, simply indicating that he exists, then introducing him in the midst of a battle with Buster and Hydra. Similarly, the other Autobot Godmasters are introduced in such a manner, although here, their creation comes before Ginrai's acquisition of his trailer, and they present it to him at an opportune moment. The most notable moment for Ginrai in the manga comes when he and the Autobots are taken to the planet Athenia by the Trainbots, and Ginrai succeeds Fortress as Supreme Commander of the Autobots, a rank there is no indication he attains in the anime.

Victory animated series
The Ginrai Transtector - now having taken its human partner's name as its own, becoming known as Ginrai itself - joined with the Autobot forces in space, where he became good friends with Star Saber and his adopted human son, Jan Minakaze. Before long, Star Saber was appointed Supreme Commander of the Autobots, while Ginrai became commander of the Defense Force for Space Sector Two. Operating out of a base in the G Nebula, Ginrai's time was occupied battling the Decepticon forces under Overlord's control, so much so that Star Saber occasionally had to respond to emergencies in Sector Two, such as a Breastforce attack on planet Micro.

Feeling guilty over taking up Star Saber's time in such a manner, Ginrai was quick to come to his aid when he was lured into a trap on Earth by Decepticon Emperor of Destruction Deathsaurus. Confronting Deathsaurus in battle, Ginrai was struck by a blast from the villain's Living-Metal-Destroying Cannon and badly damaged. Despite the best medical efforts of Perceptor and Wheeljack, Ginrai's body was left useless and immobile. Due to a slip by Perceptor, however, he learned of the existence of a reconstruction process conceived by Star Saber that would allow him to become a power-up for the Autobot leader. Star Saber refused to allow him to submit to the process, revolted at the notion of using his close friend's body in such a way, but Ginrai insisted. Perceptor and Wheeljack brought his life functions to an end, and then restored him to Star Saber's specifications as Victory Leo.
:A remoulded version of the American Powermaster Optimus Prime figure, Ginrai is a red, blue and grey tractor trailer, only able to transform into robot mode when the small Ginrai human figure is put into engine mode and snapped into place in the truck's grill, unlocking the clasp that holds the legs in place. When the cab is in robot mode, the trailer can become a battle station; either robot or station can be armed with any of the toy's weapons, including two black guns and two grey double-barrelled "cannon craft," which can be piloted by the small Godmaster figures.

Chokon Power is a form of energy from the Masterforce portion of the Generation 1 continuity.

The mysterious Chokon Power (from the Japanese, chokon, translating as "super-soul") manifests in three forms:

*Chichokon
:The power of the Earth, from the Japanese, chi, meaning "Earth." It is characterized by the Decepticon Pretender Blood as "the ultimate energy that grants existence to the life on the surface of the Earth."

*Jinchokon
:The power of man, from the Japanese, jin, meaning "man." Blood describes it as "the ultimate energy that gives humans the strength to keep on living."

*Tenchokon
:The power of the heavens, from the Japanese, ten, meaning "heaven." Blood classifies it as "the ultimate energy of the growing universe."

These three different aspects - Earth, the heavens and man - are denoted by some Eastern religions as the three core aspects of life, hence Chokon Power (also referred to as Ten-Chi-Jin Power) is effectively the primal energy of life itself. While individual beings can learn to manipulate the energy for their own ends, it is a difficult task to accomplish - aside from the warrior Sixknight, who professed to derive his strength from Tenchokon, no other ordinary Transformers displayed the ability. Through the machinations of the alien entity Devil Z, however, the lifeforms known as the Godmasters were given the inherent ability to manipulate all three forms of Chokon Power, making them one of the most powerful types of super-robotic lifeform in existence.

The Godmaster Transtectors originally resided in a region of space known as G Nebula 89, which was rich in Tenchokon, suffusing the Transtectors with it. Devil Z subsequently stole the mechanoids and hid them on Earth, where, over the years, they absorbed the planet's inherent Chichokon. With two of the three Chokon Powers now filling them, the final step in Devil Z's plan for the Transtectors was to bond a human being to them, thereby adding Jinchokon - inherent in all humans by its very nature - to the equation and giving the resultant Godmasters lifeform power over all three aspects of Chokon Power.

The effects of Chokon Power vary. Most commonly, it is simply channelled from its source - down from the sky, up out of the ground, or from within the Godmaster - into the Godmaster's fist, which can then either deliver a powerful, charged punch, or release the energy by firing it as an offensive blast. At other times, it is projected in waves from the Godmaster's body, or can be channelled into their weapons for enhanced firepower. The only type known to have an effect specific to itself is Chichokon, which gives Godmasters the power to control the Earth beneath them, levitating and energizing rocks and dirt that can be hurled at opponents.

Headmaster Juniors also possess some small measure of Chokon Power, although this may simply be the Jinchokon that exists inherently within them as humans, "activated" when they received the Masterforce. They cannot use this energy offensively; instead, it serves to automatically enhance their strength, reflexes and agility. Additionally, when Cab, Shuta and Minerva all placed their hands on the control panel of Godbomber, their Chokon Power added together was enough to equal that of Ginrai's, and activated the drone for battle. The trio were later able to share their Chokon Power again, adding it to Ginrai's in order to super-charge him for his final battle with Devil Z.

Realizing the incredible potential for Jinchokon that existed within all human beings - perhaps after seeing how truly powerful Godmasters could be - Devil Z determined to eradicate the species to remove that threat, and summarily purged the human beings from his Decepticon army, bringing the Transtectors to life as true robots. Consequently, however, the Transtectors' lack of a human component meant that they no longer possessed Jinchokon - for Hydra and Buster, at least, Devil Z substitued his own Devil Power as a replacement, but this proved unable to stand against Ginrai's might. Logically, the subsequent separation of the Autobot Godmasters from their human components also left them without Jinchokon.

Super-God Masterforce is a Transformers franchise from Japan in 1988. Breaking radically from the previous series, Headmasters, which was a continuation of the American series, Masterforce featured all-new characters and locations, dropping many of the futuristic elements, and focusing on human characters that bonded with robot bodies.

Fans have a love/hate relationship with Masterforce. It's notably well written and character driven, but probably the most different of any Transformers series. Notably, the series was unafraid of the occasional huge coincidence in setting up its premise, though it tried not to draw attention.

The Masterforce franchise featured the following primary components:
*A toyline
*A cartoon series
*A manga series

Backstory
A pair of Autobot and Decepticon ships crashed on Earth between 2000 and 4000 years ago. They fought, and the Decepticons were imprisoned until the modern era.

Autobots
The Autobots are led by Metalhawk. When they were on Earth, the Autobots adopted outer Pretender shells that allowed them to pass for human. They were impressed by the great compassion and goodness displayed by the otherwise primitive natives.

After the Decepticons' defeat, the Autobots spread themselves around the world, living as humans. They kept contact with one another, and tasked themselves with investigating unexplained phenomena and disasters, keeping a watchful eye for the Decepticon Pretenders possible escape.

The Autobot Pretenders were on Earth during the Decepticon awakening in 1984 and everything that followed. There is nothing to indicate they ever made contact with the other Autobots on Earth, but they were in regular communications with the offworld Autobots after Headmasters.

Metalhawk's vigil brought him into contact with Japanese scientist Professor Goh, and eventually his son Shuta Goh, who became a Headmaster Junior shortly after the Decepticon Pretenders escaped.

They were later joined by the human Autobot Godmasters, including Ginrai, to whom Metalhawk would hand over primary command. By this point, the Autobot Masterforce was composed of more humans than Cybertronians.

The Autobots in Masterforce are characterized by their love and admiration of humanity and human culture.

Decepticons
The Decepticons created demonic Pretender shells to terrify and dominate humans. Eventually defeated by the Autobots, they were imprisoned far apart from one another on Earth.

In the modern era, the Decepticon Pretenders were awakened by Giga and Mega, human Godmasters in the service of Devil Z, an godlike alien intelligence with a long history of Decepticon patronage.

Devil Z sought to harness Chokon Power, unifying the power of Transformers, humans, and the Earth to create godlike beings. Peripherally, Devil Z wished to drive humans into a willing alliance with the Decepticons by threatening to destroy the delicate balance of life on Earth.

:Bumper is an Autobot in the Generation 1 continuity family.

Bumper is a young and inexperienced Autobot, new to the war, but eager to do his part against the Decepticons. He is in the interesting position of looking up to Bumblebee, which makes Bumblebee feel more awkward than normal. Bumper may not have much of a history so far, but his determination and flashes of courage and brilliance may take him far.

Fiction
Dreamwave comics continuity
Bumper was part of the crew of the shuttle Orion, under the command of Bumblebee. He was part of the party that attacked Sunstorm in order to attach an inhibitor to him, in order to drain the vast energies Sunstorm produced.

Later, he and Warpath were sent to retrieve several Autobots that Starscream had previously deactivated and "stored" at the bottom of a lake. They were interrupted by a heavily-armed platoon of EDC troops under the command of Marissa Faireborn, who took them and the deactivated Autobots to a secret base, reactivating them. The EDC needed the Autobots' help to investigate the disappearance of an entire town of people in San Desto, California.

Bumper was part of the squad sent in to San Desto, instantly earning the disdain of Sunstreaker, but Sunstreaker thinks that way about everyone. Bumper took a squad of EDC troopers into a movie theater to investigate, but was captured by the Insecticons. When they left to take care of their new breed of Insecticlones, Bumper managed to break free and took a cerebro-shell. Freeing the captured Sideswipe and Sunstreaker, Bumper then used the taken cerebro-shell to attack Bombshell and shut down the Insecticlones, and halt the advance of the controlled citizens of San Desto.

Toys
Generation 1
For nearly twenty years, the toy that would eventually be "Bumper" had no official name, aside from the versions released by Estrela in Brazil in various colors, first as the "Robocar" Sedan, then as the heroic "Optimus" Sedan. Originally a mold from the pre-Transformers Microman line, the penny-racer-proportioned "Familia 1500XG" mold appeared on Cliffjumper cards in 1984 (it's not impossible that he was also available on Bumblebee cards, but to this day, no packaged example has surfaced). How this toy came to be released in this manner has yet to be determined, and it's highly likely the mystery may never be solved.

For years, the toy was referred to as "Bumblejumper" by fans, until the early 1990's when the shortened and more Transformers-name-like "Bumper" began to propegate. The name was not made "official" for the toy until it was used in the first issue of Dreamwave's on-going Transformers comic in 2004.
