Following Alternators' lead, the Transformers in this assortment are accurate scale recreations of licenced vehicles with operating doors and realistic interiors. However these sets also include a human (or humanoid) figure who can sit inside the alt mode, or be attached to one of several positions on the robot mode. There is also a weapon accessory for the human to operate in this mode.
Although ostensibly intended to mimic the NEST alliance between the humans and Autobots seen in the movie, a set with Barricade and Frenzy is planned. Such are the mysteries of life.
Deceptitran was created and programmed by the Decepticons to harvest energon on a distant planet. Through the use of an army of drones, he enslaved the Tlaklans in order to mine and collect the energon. He even has developed a way to harvest energon directly from the Tlaklans through the use of a machine where they sit and he siphons the Tlalakans' life force through wires and tubes.

As far as personality is concerned, Deceptitran is elitist and high strung with a tendancy towards hysterical reactions. He should not be confused with the Transformers who aparently have "souls." He is merely an AI robot that responds to programming and can be shut off with the press of a button (as Megatron demonstrates when he becomes irritated with Deceptitran's whininess.)
On a distant planet, Deceptitran lives like a king in his position as head robot for the Decepticons. Unfortunately the Tlaklans, whom he has enslaved, begin to rebel. Desperate for some back up, Deceptitran sends an encrypted distress call to the Decepticons, which is inadvertently received by the Autobot Seaspray.

The Autobots decide to investigate before realizing that the distress call is for the Decepticons. Seaspray, Bumblebee, Perceptor and Cosmos are fired on while enterring the atmosphere and crash land. They are discovered simultaneously by the Tlaklans and the Decepticon drones. Cosmos is damaged in the crash.

Decepticons also arrive (Megatron, Soundwave, Rumble, Dirge, Astrotrain and Lazerbeak) and capture Bumblebee. Through the use of the Well of Transformation, Alana (a Tlaklan) transforms into a robot and assists Seaspray in attacking Deceptitran's control room and creating a ruse to deceive the Decepticons into returning to the city to protect the energon. Alana reprograms Deceptitran to obey her and send a fake distress call to Megatron and then have the drones attack the Decepticons.
Dead End knows that his having an entry in some database somewhere hardly matters. The computers will eventually fail. The data will be lost. The species that made it will go extinct. Their planet will become barren. The sun will die out. All suns will die out. The universe will implode again, or expand into nothingness, or be eaten by a giant evil space-god. So what's the point? Despite this deep knowledge of the dark, inevitable pointlessness of existence, he spends an inordinate amount of time polishing and primping himself. This is something the other Decepticons are sure to tease him about whenever they get the chance, which only depresses him more. If you can actually motivate him to fight, he's a fearless warrior and actually cheers up a little, since trying to save his own life can momentarily distract him from how ultimately brief and pointless it is, the hard trick is getting him motivated in the first place, since in the end we're all doomed. Sigh.

The "Keepers Trilogy" is set of Transformers novels set in Dreamwave's version of Generation One continuity.

In 2003, capitalizing on the recent success of the Dreamwave Transformers comic book Prime Directives (#1 in sales for the year,) iBooks released a trilogy of Transformers novels.
*Hardwired by Scott Ciencen
*Anihilation by David Cian
*Fusion by David Cian
The three books form a continuious narrative that takes place in the missing year betwen Prime Directives and Dreamwave's follow-up miniseries War and Peace.

All 3 novels were collected into a hardbound omnibus in 2004 for the Science Fiction Book Club.

The short story Two for the Price of One by Brandie Tarvin in the 2004 anthology Transformers Legends seems to be set in the same continuity. Ironicly, since this story takes place after Megatron's return to power, which had just started when Dreamwave went belly-up, it represents the latest point on the Dreamwave timeline.

Events of the Keepers Trilogy
Alien beings known as The Keepers abduct Transformers, including Optimus Prime and Megatron for study. In their absence, Starscream attempts to leverage public interest in the Decepticons into a "reality TV" series set in Las Vegas.

Prime bargins for Megatron's cooperation a price to be named later, and the abducted Transformers are able to escape back to Earth - but the Keepers follow, threatening to destory the planet. The President nukes Las Vegas to be rid of them, but Prime uses the Matrix to send both the Keepers and the missile to another dimension. The threat momentarily averted, Megatron names the price for his cooperation - the Matrix.

Though absolute disaster was narrowly averted, the Keepers' allies on Earth attempt to open a gateway to bring them back. Intrigue abounds between the American government, Transformers enthusiasts, and secret societies to determine who will posess the manifold advantages of alien technology.

Characters
The Keeper's trilogy pioneered the use of fake-soundign names, which would later be used in IDW's Infiltration series.
Oddities/Errors
While the nuclear explosion in Prime Directives took place in San Fransisco, the Keepers Trilogy moves it to Los Angeles for no apparent reason.

Fan Reaction
Most Transformers fans were disappointed by these novels.

Scott Ciencen (writer of the first book and part of the second, though uncredited when the Cian was brought in to take over the series) left many readers cold with a mix of sex, gore (Her severed spine jutted from her torso, and entrails uncoiled and slowly snaked out from her body, slippery and eager to stretch out and relax.) and faux-edgy pop culture references. In addition, Ciencen's actual knowledge of Transformers was visibly limited, consisting of what appeared to be hasty perusals of some sources - his description of Bumblebee, for instance, was clearly derived from a cursory glance at his Transformers Universe profile, presenting him to be blue and yellow (a result of the limited colour palette of the comics), rather than the correct black and yellow. Energon is described as silvery-gold liquid (before the Energon series depicted it as such), and presented as the power source of the Matrix.

David Cian's half of the trilogy, which dropped the shock tactics and seemed better reserched, was much more possitively recieved.

The Trilogy takes much of its tone from the first Dreamwave miniseries Prime Directives, which was also featured gore, nuclear missiles, government conspiracies, a vague sense that Transformers had little sense of free will, and an angsty, indecisive Optimus Prime under the illusion he's engaged in a cosmic struggle of robot vs self. He uses the Matrix twice.

The Keepers baffled fans by being extremely, extremely similar to the Quintessons in method, technology, outlook, relationship to the Transformers, and (to a lesser degree) appearance. Ciencen seems to have simply been unaware of the Quintessons' existence when he created them.

On the positive note; the Keepers Trilogy is one of the few stories to explore the long-term impact of Transformers' interaction with human society.
