:''Starscream is a [[Decepticon]] from the [[Aligned continuity family]].''
[[Image:StarscreamPrime.jpg|thumb|300px|In a cruel twist of fate, perhaps the most legitimately competent Starscream ever, but no one will take him seriously for even a minute.]]
'''Starscream''' was an Air Commander of the [[Energon]] [[Seeker (body-type)|Seeker]]s, [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]]'s finest air warriors. His dream was to recover the [[Matrix of Leadership]] and become the [[Prime (rank)|Prime]] that would return the Transformers to the [[Golden Age]], and he saw opportunity with the rebel upstart [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]]. A patient and polite schemer, Starscream used to wish Megatron would drop the heroic anti-[[caste system|caste]] charade and be more honest about his lust for power.

These days, he alternatively wishes Megatron would stop being obsessed with his lust for power and chafes under having to work for such a madman. While he serves as Megatron's right-hand man, he constantly looks for a way to become the commander himself and Megatron knows it: Starscream's extremely volatile personality means he is not adept at hiding his true intent. Fortunately for Megatron, Starscream is prone to panic, cowardice and bombastic gestures, meaning that it'd take exceptional circumstances for Starscream to actually manage to get behind him to shove the knife in.

He may be a scientist, but [[Starscream (Prime)#Notes|we're not quite sure]].

==Fiction==
===Aligned novels===
Starscream may or may not have had a history as a scientist. Regardless of what he did prior, in the early days before the war began he was one of the leaders of the Cybertronian Air Command. When [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] fell into chaos following bombings by [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]]'s [[Decepticon]] followers, Starscream was posted as [[Sentinel Zeta Prime|Sentinel Prime]]'s bodyguard. He was with the Prime at [[Altihex]] Casino during a performance by comedian [[Armorhide (WFC)|Armorhide]] when the Decepticons attacked. Sentinel's attempt to flee rather than fight back made Starscream ashamed of his leader, so he had [[Skywarp (Prime)|Skywarp]] and [[Thundercracker (WFC)|Thundercracker]] take him to [[Kaon]] Prison rather than the safety of [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon]]. This earned him loyalty with Megatron, but wary of how sour a revolution could quickly turn Starscream opted not to be directly involved in the gladiator's operations, posting his Seekers at [[Moonbase One|Moon Base One]] and [[Trypticon (WFC)|Trypticon]] Station. Megatron was intrigued by why Starscream wanted to occupy "that semi-sentient pile of junk" but despite [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Orion Pax]]'s research they found no clues, with information regarding the Station seemingly censored.

Whenever Starscream's Seekers were present, the Decepticons were victorious in battle against the [[Autobot]]s. Starscream however, found Megatron's strategies overly convoluted. As the war devolved into a siege of Iacon, Megatron and [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]], by probing into forgotten areas of the [[DataNet]], discovered Trypticon was a storage of [[Dark Energon]], the life essence of [[Unicron]]. When questioned, Starscream explained since even the Air Command was not sure what Dark Energon was, he had forbidden its use, fearing the damage Megatron's gladiators would unleash. Megatron forgave Starscream, noting how he "was smart enough to be afraid of it", and was granted access.

Starscream sent a message to the Autobots proposing a meeting. Optimus only granted him a communication channel. Starscream stated if the Autobots did not know what Dark Energon was (they did) they would need to find out — and asked what would he could expect from them if something happened to Megatron. Optimus replied that he sought a just peace. Starscream said he understood, broke off the conversation and flew to [[Kaon]] Prison where Sentinel was held. Starscream offered Sentinel a chance to redeem his cowardly behavior at Altihex. The ultimate aim of this road to becoming Decepticon leader was to become [[Prime (rank)|Prime]] in a peace settlement with Optimus, and lead Cybertron back to its [[Golden Age]]. Starscream then flew to Moon Base One when Megatron ordered him to Trypticon, where he found the Decepticons had invaded the Station and slaughtered and maimed his scientists.

Megatron and [[Shockwave (WFC)|Shockwave]] forced Starscream to select two survivors to absorb [[Dark Energon]], for what was a successful experiment. Requiring more for the Decepticon war effort, Megatron ordered Starscream to capture the [[Geosynchronous Energon Bridge]], below the ruins of [[Crystal City]]. Empowered by his first taste of Dark Energon, Starscream activated the device that transmitted Energon to the Station for it to be Darkened. But the Bridge still did not produce enough, and Starscream was ordered to find the Code [[Key of Power]] and [[Key of Justice]] to the [[Plasma energy|Plasma Energy Chamber]] underneath the [[High Council Tower]] in Iacon. Starscream decided it was time to release Sentinel, renouncing Dark Energon after realizing Megatron had turned his soldiers into addicts. Starscream found the Key of Power within the [[Hall of Justice]] and flew underground to find his plan had failed, as Megatron had mortally wounded Sentinel. He could see within Sentinel's body was the Key of Justice, but was prevented from taking it by [[Blackout (WFC)|Blackout]]. Megatron fought Starscream to a standstill, sparing him because he realized he was a better soldier than a would-be example.

As Megatron entered the Chamber, [[Teletraan-1]] activated the legendary [[Omega Supreme (WFC)|Omega Supreme]] to fly it away. Aware Starscream had a better chance of escaping Omega's awakening, Megatron ordered Starscream and his Seekers to down Omega, in exchange for more Dark Energon. Giving up on his attempt to give up his addiction, Starscream gleefully accepted and they successfully blew Omega out of the sky, allowing the Decepticons to retrieve the Chamber and corrupt the [[core]]. As Cybertron became uninhabitable, the Autobots left on the largest starship ever built - the ''[[Ark (WFC)|Ark]]''. Starscream left the planet with Megatron as they gave pursuit on Trypticon, now a ''Nemesis''-class supercruiser. The two ships entered a [[space bridge]], which separated the two ships to unknown parts of space... {{storylink|Transformers: Exodus|Exodus}}
Starscream had been on [[Earth]] at some point, but was assigned by Megatron to scour the galaxy for remnants of space bridge technology. Returning to their dead homeworld, Starscream built a weapons lab in Kaon and began building a space bridge. He was informed by his [[Vehicon (Prime)|Eradicon]]s elsewhere they had apprehended the Autobot spy [[Cliffjumper (Prime)|Cliffjumper]]. Later, after basking in the glory of successfully activating the space bridge that would return them to Earth and its [[Energon]], Starscream realized Cliffjumper was present. The Autobot claimed to be freed by his captors after defecting to the Decepticons, and warned them of [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]]: this ruse successfully distracted Starscream long enough for Arcee to activate and overload the space bridge, but he jumped in after them moments before the lab was blown sky high.

Falling to Earth, a dazed Starscream picked up a [[bunny rabbit]], commenting that [[human]]s were smaller than he remembered. [[Scanning]] a fleet of jets flying overhead, he found Cliffjumper and Arcee driving on a road and launched a missile at them. He picked up Arcee's blown off arm and started battering Cliffjumper with it, but the Autobot blew up the rock formation above them and crushed Starscream with the rubble. Having received Starscream's signal, [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] came to his rescue, and the duo pursued and overwhelmed the Autobots. Just as Starscream was about to send them back to the [[AllSpark]], Optimus jumped and landed on him, while gunning Breakdown away. As Starscream greeted his opponent, [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] tapped him on the shoulder and sent him flying. Optimus opted not to finish the job, allowing Starscream to escape and fight another day as he got Cliffjumper and Arcee to base. {{storylink|Transformers: Prime (comic)|Transformers: Prime}}
Before Starscream joined Megatron and the Decepticons, he was commander of a squadron of Energon Seekers on Cybertron. {{Storylink|Partners}} When the Decepticons arrived on Earth, Starscream scouted a old Decepticon ship called the ''[[Harbinger]]'' that had crashed landed on Earth. However he failed to record the coordinates of the crash site or find the [[Immobilizer]]. {{Storylink|Partners}} In time, [[Megatron (Prime)|Megatron]] departed [[Earth]] to gather an army out in space, leaving Starscream in charge. Starscream spent his time sending out [[Vehicon (Prime)|Decepticon grunts]] to search for [[Energon]] deposits{{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 2}}, and managed to set up a lucrative energon mine in secret. {{storylink|Rock Bottom}}

Three years later, one of Starscream's energon searches was interrupted by [[Cliffjumper (Prime)|Cliffjumper]]. Once Cliffjumper was defeated by the Vehicons, Starscream personally killed the Autobot. [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]] alerted him to Arcee's location, and Starscream decided she would be their next target. Later, when Soundwave received a signal from deep space, Starscream hesitantly opened the space bridge for Megatron's return. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 1}} Megatron revealed to Starscream that he'd brought back [[Dark Energon]], and Starscream provided Cliffjumper's corpse so they could test the substance's reanimation properties. When the undead Cliffjumper's signal led the Autobots to the mine, Starscream blew the facility up on Megatron's orders. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 2}}

[[Image:DarknessRising3-interrogateFowler.jpg|thumb|left|250px|"No, Mister Fowler, I expect you to be saved at the last minute!"]]
Following a test of Dark Energon on himself, Megatron took off for parts unknown, leaving Starscream in charge once more. When Soundwave picked up [[William Fowler|Agent Fowler]]'s transmissions, Starscream had the human captured and began trying to extract the location of the Autobot base from him. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 3}} The interrogation almost succeeded, but for the arrival of Arcee, [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] and [[Bulkhead (Prime)|Bulkhead]] who, after a standoff, forced Starscream to retreat. Once Megatron returned to the ship, he was outraged at Starscream's actions and proceeded to beat his subordinate for "delaying his plans". Starscream managed to quell his master's anger by announcing he had a way to get their plans back on course. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 4}}

[[Image:DarknessRising5-ohgeez.jpg|right|thumb|300px|Oh my God. It's called toothpaste, use it.]]
As it turned out, his plan was to send Soundwave down to use a radio dish array on Earth to set the space bridge's target. Once the bridge was properly targeted, Starscream opened it so that Megatron could throw the chunk of Dark Energon though. Starscream moved the ship back to a safe distance when the fighting on the rim of the space bridge became more intense, while imploring his master to withdraw as well. Alas, the space bridge exploded, apparently taking Megatron with it, and Starscream gave a brief eulogy before declaring himself leader. {{storylink|Darkness Rising, Part 5}}

[[Image:Masters&Students-SoundwaveStarscream.jpg|thumb|250px|left|*ping* "FINE! FINE! I'LL WRITE A THANK-YOU NOTE!"]]
Starscream's speeches were poorly received. Intending to find more potentially-loyal warriors, Starscream took Soundwave to try to revive the long-dormant [[Skyquake (Prime)|Skyquake]]. To Starscream's disappointment, Skyquake was loyal only to Megatron, and interested only in fighting the Autobots who arrived. A signal detected by Soundwave sent Starscream to the location of the space bridge explosion, where he found Megatron's body and ripped the sliver of Dark Energon from it. He was forced by the observing [[Laserbeak (Prime)|Laserbeak]] to return the body to the ''[[Trypticon (Prime)|Nemesis]]'', where he also learned that Skyquake had been terminated by the Autobots. {{storylink|Masters & Students}}

When [[Wheeljack (Prime)|Wheeljack]] arrived on Earth, Starscream had him captured and substituted [[Makeshift (Prime)|Makeshift]] with the mission to open the Autobot [[GroundBridge]] to let the Decepticon forces into the Autobot base. Unfortunately Wheeljack broke free before the plan could succeed, and as a result, Makeshift was expelled from the Autobot base onto the ''Nemesis'' hull with an activated grenade. Starscream vacated the hull before Makeshift exploded. {{storylink|Con Job}} After Soundwave picked up on [[Dynamic Nuclear Generation System|another Autobot operation]], Starscream figured it was a good opportunity to get rid of the Autobots while they were distracted, and sent a squadron of Vehicons on a search and destroy mission. {{storylink|Convoy (episode)|Convoy}}

[[Image:DeusExMachina-Screamer grins.jpg|right|thumb|250px|"We've had too much Energon shed. I think that a cleansing is in order."]]
To Starscream's discomfort, the crew held a vote and he was obliged to call in [[Knock Out (Prime)|Knock Out]] and [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] to aid in Megatron's recovery. The discovery that an [[Energon Harvester]] was located in an museum on Earth was all the excuse Starscream needed to put that on hold, and the other Decepticons soon obtained the device for him. While they were testing it in [[Greece]], Bulkhead attacked them and destroyed the Harvester. {{storylink|Deus ex Machina}} Starscream was irritated by Knock Out's participation in street racing, and eventually decided to make an example of him. {{storylink|Speed Metal}}

[[Image:OutOfHisHead-grabby.jpg|left|thumb|250px|That's NOT how ATB Megatron and Starscream combine!]]
Some time later, after the ship's electromagnetic shielding failed, Starscream put the Vehicons to work fixing it. Offering Knock Out a post as second-in-command, Starscream persuaded him to help convince Soundwave that Megatron was a lost cause. They were interrupted by Arcee and Bumblebee, who were doing something with Megatron's corpse, and after chasing the two Autobots off, they discovered that Megatron no longer had any brain activity. {{storylink|Sick Mind}} Overjoyed at this, Starscream began a new plan, constructing a heat ray which he attempted to use to melt a glacier to get to a huge [[energon]] deposit. Unfortunately, not only did the Autobots arrive and destroy the heat ray, but Megatron was resurrected and dragged the protesting Starscream away for punishment. {{storylink|Out of His Head}}

[[Image:Shadowzone-gah.jpg|right|thumb|225px|Damn, in another [[Starscream (Movie)|continuity]] the arm comes off and they mock it in this one.]]
Starscream ended up in the infirmary as a result of Megatron's punishment, but continued undaunted in his plans. He took the chunk of Dark Energon he'd been hiding, and went to the site of Skyquake's grave, intending to resurrect the warrior as well as imbuing himself with Dark Energon. Unfortunately the Autobots arrived before Skyquake rose, and Starscream had to retreat through the Decepticon GroundBridge, albeit minus his right arm. After subjecting himself to treatment from Knock Out, Starscream returned to the site to confirm whether Skyquake had risen, only to be attacked by Skyquake's zombified right arm. {{storylink|Shadowzone (episode)|Shadowzone}}

When Breakdown was captured to [[MECH]], Starscream's suggestion they rescue their comrade was turned down by Megatron. Starscream went anyway, and found Breakdown had already been rescued by Bulkhead, but escorted Breakdown back to the ship. {{storylink|Operation: Breakdown}} At an old energon mine, Megatron confronted Starscream about his many transgressions and prepared to terminate his subordinate. Starscream was only saved by the arrival of the Autobots, but on escaping the collapsed mine, realized that he would have to go back in and attempt to rescue Megatron, or face his master's possible wrath later. Venturing back inside, he ended up tangling with the Autobots, and when Megatron later found him, he had been left supporting a large boulder. {{storylink|Rock Bottom}}

[[Image:Partners-ScreamPrisoner.jpg|thumb|250px|left|Why am I always seen like this? Chest and lower body off to one side, head towards y'all....]]
Starscream was sent with [[Airachnid]] to locate the ''Harbinger'' wreck, only for the spider to leave him webbed up when it turned out the ship was broken in half and the weapon they sought was in the other half. Starscream was found by the Autobots and attempted to convince them he wanted to switch sides, even pointing them to the location of the weapon Airachnid was after. Unfortunately he let slip he'd been the one to kill Cliffjumper, provoking Arcee into attacking him. After fighting her, he was able to limp away, though he decided from then on he would be an independent. {{storylink|Partners}}

Many months later, Starscream snuck on board the ''Nemesis'' to steal [[energon cube]]s and blundered into the workroom that was being used by the recently-amnesiac Optimus Prime. {{storylink|Orion Pax, Part 1}} Starscream soon realized what was going on, but when more Vehicons arrived, he was wounded while fleeing the ship. He contacted the Autobots to exchange information for medical help. When [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] and Bulkhead arrived, it turned out they already knew about Optimus's situation, but were interested in what he knew about the space bridge, so he was able to trade the information for aid. {{storylink|Orion Pax, Part 2}}

[[Image:OperationBumblebee1 Silas meets Starscream.jpg|right|thumb|250px|]]
Tracking a signal, Starscream stumbled upon a MECH trap already sprung by Bumblebee. He was intrigued and followed the MECH helicopter and watched as they tried to install the [[transformation cog|T-cog]] they'd taken into a robot. When their attempt to make the robot work failed, Starscream revealed himself and managed to strike a partnership with them. {{storylink|Operation Bumblebee, Part 1}} With Starscream's help, MECH secured a source of energon and Starscream was there when they used it on their robot. As Bumblebee came looking for his T-cog, Starscream helped defend it, but when it looked like Bumblebee might get it back, Starscream blasted it and left. Unfortunately Silas was less than impressed, and after a short nap thanks to MECH's weapons, Starscream woke up minus his own T-cog. {{Storylink|Operation Bumblebee, Part 2}}

[[Image:Crossfire Starscream injured.jpg|thumb|left|300px|]]
While scavenging for energon, Starscream found that Airachnid had been cast out from the Decepticons and obtained a pet in the form of an [[Insecticon (Prime)|Insecticon]]. She spurned his suggestion that they team up to defeat Megatron, and he barely escaped with his life. Wounded, he employed his previous trick to get medical help from the Autobots in exchange for information about Airachnid's activities, and even later saved Arcee from Airachnid, sparing her life like she spared his much, much earlier. {{storylink|Crossfire}}
Starscream returned to the ''Harbinger'' in search of energon, and instead found a laboratory containing five [[protoform]]s and the equipment necessary for [[cloning]]. He had soon whipped up five [[Starscream clone (Prime)|Starscream clone]]s, which he dispatched to dispatch Megatron. Unfortunately he soon discovered that he could sympathetically feel every injury they suffered, which gave him a good idea how the mission was going. When the last clone returned to report failure, Starscream sensed the clone's treachery and blasted it. Fully aware of the effect on him, he terminated the clone, screaming in their shared pain as he did. {{storylink|Armada (episode)|Armada}}

For the last thousand years of the [[Great War (Prime)|Great War]], Starscream was in charge of an orbital facility that had the capability of producing [[Dark Energon]], though they maintained only a small stockpile because of its unpredictable and uncontrollable nature. The station's force of neutral soldiers were no match for Megatron's invading forces, while Starscream and [[Jetfire (WFC)|Jetfire]]'s repeated warnings that no one could control Dark Energon had no effect on Megatron's determination. Instead, Megatron tempted Starscream with knowledge of his past, reminding him of his demotion from Sky Commander to a mere guard over an all-but-derelict station, and offered to let him join the Decepticons, something Starscream scoffed at — at least, at first. Starscream attempted to destroy the station's stock of Dark Energon before the Decepticon leader could reach it, but failed, and watched, first with amusement as Megatron entered the storage chamber...and then with shock as Megatron infused himself with the substance and bent it to his will within moments. Starscream quickly volunteered his services for the Decepticon cause, causing Jetfire to label him a traitor and leave to warn Zeta Prime. Megatron sent him with [[Thundercracker (WFC)|Thundercracker]] and [[Skywarp (Prime)|Skywarp]] to [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] to reactivate the [[Geosynchronous Energon Bridge|Energon Bridge]]. Starscream performed the mission successfully using his trademark style, flair, and modesty, never mind Megatron's taunting and unreasonable impatience, or Thundercracker's warning him of the danger of certain courses of action, or even Skywarp's cluing in to his constant insults.

During the Battle of [[Iacon (polity)|Iacon City]], Starscream led the Decepticons aerial squadrons and [[Brawl (WFC)|Brawl]] led the Decepticons' ground assault, while Megatron, [[Soundwave (Prime)|Soundwave]], and [[Breakdown (Prime)|Breakdown]] went behind enemy lines and tried to secure the [[Omega Key]]. When Megatron's group met up with Brawl, Starscream refused to send Dark Energon bombers, saying that he wouldn't let Brawl waste anymore of "his ships". Megatron took issue with Starscream dubbing the bombers his, and overrode Starscream's refusal. Later that evening, while looking for the "real" Omega Key, they ran into it: [[Omega Supreme (WFC)|Omega Supreme]]. Starscream assumed Megatron was killed when Omega attacked a dropship Megatron was heading for and declared himself Decepticon commander. Shortly afterward, Megatron managed to communicate with Starscream and ordered him to attack Omega Supreme, getting the massive Autobot off of Megatron's back. By the time Megatron's group were heading for the [[missile turret]]s, Starscream was ready to sound a retreat, which Megatron overrode with the threat of marking any retreating Decepticon as "kill on sight". Fortunately, Megatron arrived moments later and managed to defeat Omega Supreme, making the retreat unnecessary. Later on, he was present at the Core of Cybertron as Megatron corrupted it with Dark Energon.

As the Battle of Iacon continued, Starscream fought through Jetfire and [[Silverbolt (WFC)|Silverbolt]], and attacked [[Optimus Prime (Prime)|Optimus]]'s group in the [[Decagon]]. However, the Air Commander was injured by Optimus's [[Energon-axe]] and forced to retreat. The wound was apparently bad enough to cause him to sit out the remainder of the conflict. {{storylink|Transformers: War for Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)|Transformers: War for Cybertron}}
Starscream had been in control of Trypticon Space Station for years, until Megatron and his forces invaded. Megatron wished to revive the Dark Energon project to aid him in his conquest of Cybertron, but Starscream would have none of it. Megatron was able to fight his way to Starscream himself, and after a brief battle, Starscream had lost. He begged for mercy, and Megatrons spared Starscream in exchange for loyalty to the Decepticons. Starscream obliged and Megatron was taken to the core of the station.

After a test run of the Dark Energon's effects on Decepticons in Kaon Prison, Soundwave deduced the element would only destroy the host. A furious Megatron set Starscream to work on fixing the problem, with Starscream continuously bickering with Barricade over his usefullness. The problem was eventually solved in time for an attack on Iacon City. When Megatron felled Zeta Prime and found the Omega Key, the titanic Autobot Omega Supreme was unleashed upon the Decepticons, quickly crushing them with ease.

Megatron was downright furious with Starscream, declaring he had brought Omega Supreme's rampage upon them all. Starscream retorted that if it wasn't for Megatron and his blind troops, none of this would've happened. Starscream invited Megatron to kill him, but warned him it wouldn't do a thing about Omega Supreme out for their blood. Megatron for the moment let it go, and finally felled Omega Supreme, gaining total dominance over Cybertron.

Sometime later, Starscream ambushed an [[Autobot rookie|Autobot recruit-in-training]], and would've killed him if it wasn't for Optimus charging to the rescue. He wasn't seen again after that.
: This redeco of Legends Class [[Transformers: Cybertron (toyline)|''Cybertron'']] [[Starscream (Armada)#LOC|Starscream]] appeared pretty much out of the blue one day, when, without fanfare, it was offered as a promotional giveaway in the United Kingdom to those who purchased the ''[[Transformers: War for Cybertron (360/PS3/PC)|Transformers: War for Cybertron]]'' video game from [http://www.shopto.net ShopTo.Net]. He transforms into a Cybertronic jet fighter and features hidden weapons in his wing-sections/biceps: the right arm hides a blade, while the left arm has a non-firing cannon.

: This toy was later offered as a gift to attendees at the Animation-Comic-Game Hong Kong fair 2010 if they made a combined purchase of [[Transformers (2010 toyline)|''Transformers'' toys]] amounting to more than HK$400.
*'''Starscream''' (Deluxe Class, 2011)
**''Number:'' '''003'''
**''Japanese release date:'' '''[[December 28]], 2012'''
**''Accessories:'' 2 missile pods, stand (Hasbro only)

: Deluxe Class Starscream transforms from a jet resembling a [[Wikipedia:General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon|General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon]] into a skinny robot and back! He comes with two missile pod accessories that can either attach onto tabs on the underside of his wings, or onto the rear wings on his arms in robot mode. Additionally, he has a [[5mm post|5mm peg]] hole that goes through each arm, which become the sides of his jet mode tail. This allows accessories with the same size peg to be used in either mode. Also, since the tail stabilizers fold into the sides of the tail to become the arms, the hole isn't very deep in robot mode unless you leave these fins folded out. Undocumented in either of his [[Hasbro]] and [[TakaraTomy]] [[instructions]], Starscream has a winglet on the back of each of his legs that can be deployed for slightly increased [[show-accuracy]].

: Some units have the head aerial deformed in-package due to being made of soft plastic. This is due to friction preventing it from hinging back. The aerial is supposed to fold back along the head for transformation, but can be tough enough to get in place due to simply flexing instead of changing position. His knee spikes also tend to deform.

: As with all Hasbro-release "First Edition" toys, a cardboard stand is included. The Takara release omits the stand in order to fit the toy into the bubble in robot mode.
He also comes with two translucent "missile cannon" weapons and a pack-in file card. The Hasbro release features soft, rubbery material on both the nosecone and tailfin for safety purposes, but not on the pointier missile cannon accessories. Starscream's arms can separate from the nosecone fuselage on the elbow joint for greater show-accuracy, if you ignore the giant jet pieces hanging off his arms. '''When Arcee takes Jack on a routine mission, Airachnid turns up, putting him in danger.'''

==Synopsis==
A mysterious object streaks through the [[Solar System]] and crashes in a remote part of the northern [[United States of America|United States]]. Trudging through the forest nearby are [[Arcee (Prime)|Arcee]] and [[Jack Darby]], out searching for an underground [[energon (fuel)|energon]] deposit that [[Ratchet (Prime)|Ratchet]] has detected. Jack complains about the mosquitoes, but Arcee picks up some strange readings and they quickly come upon the crashed spaceship. Telling an increasingly unnerved Jack to stay where he is, Arcee moves in closer to examine it, and suffers a flashback containing a [[Airachnid|menacing figure]] as she realizes whose ship it is. She attempts in vain to contact [[Autobot Outpost Omega One|base]] to request a [[GroundBridge]]. Leaving Jack by the ship, Arcee walks out into the trees to find a trail left by her mystery assailant, and again flashes back to a past time when she had been captured. Jack interrupts her, and she transforms before driving them both at high speed through the trees for a distance. When she still can't contact base, she drops Jack off on the other side of a deep crevasse and heads back. Jack starts climbing down the side of the crevasse. Arcee, scouting among the trees, finds a tree stump covered in an acidic compound, and has another flashback.

[[Image:Predatory-Airachnidscratch.jpg|thumb|250px|left|]]

''On [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Arcee runs through ruined buildings while radioing [[Delta Team]] for backup. She trades banter with her partner [[Tailgate (Prime)|Tailgate]] before asking directions, but before she can complete her next sentence, she's stuck to a nearby wall by a glob of webbing. She finds herself chained up, a prisoner of [[Airachnid]], who scratches her face with an acid-emitting talon.''

Elsewhere, Airachnid moves in on an unsuspecting camper in a tent. As she jumps to strike, she's tackled by Arcee, and the pair roll downhill to a clearing. Amused to be reunited with the Autobot after all this time, Airachnid reveals her new hobby: collecting the heads of endangered species, though most of them weren't endangered until she got to them. Now she has her sights set on a human for her next trophy. Enraged, Arcee begins fighting her, but Jack arrives, distracting Arcee long enough for Airachnid to web her to a nearby rock. Arcee cuts her arm free and zaps Airachnid before informing Jack that he's more a liability than a partner. Jack responds that he doesn't believe her and he can tell she's afraid, and Arcee flashes back again.

''Finding Arcee a tough nut to crack, Airachnid has a couple of [[Vehicon (Prime)|Vehicons]] drag in a severly battered Tailgate, and demands the information she wants, or Tailgate dies. Arcee, however much she wants to save her partner, doesn't know the attack coordinates, and Airachnid calmly kills him.''

Airachnid recovers from the battle and closes in and says she'd heard about [[Cliffjumper (Prime)|Cliffjumper]]'s fate, then twists the knife by asking Arcee if she has a problem with losing partners. As Jack flees, Airachnid promises to finish Arcee later, after she's added her human companion's head to her trophy collection. As Airachnid leaves, Arcee flashes back once more...

[[Image:Predatory-ArceeBeeCliff.jpg|thumb|250px|Color coded for your sake.]]

''As Airachnid moves in on her living prisoner, [[Bumblebee (Prime)|Bumblebee]] and [[Cliffjumper (Prime)|Cliffjumper]] burst in to execute a dramatic rescue. Though they gun down the Vehicon guards, Airachnid makes her escape. The Autobots free Arcee and carry her out as she laments that she couldn't save her partner.''

Arcee is overcome with grief at having put Jack's life in peril, realizing that she should have just... kept... driving! Her lament gives her the insight she needs to free herself, pulling at the webbing enough to transform to cycle mode and peel out at full throttle, eventually breaking her bonds.

Meanwhile, Jack ducks behind a fallen tree in an attempt to evade Airachnid, but she easily finds him. He continues running, and though he's scared, keeps looking for ways to fight back (though he quickly dismisses his Swiss Army knife as a viable weapon). Eventually, he reaches Airachnid's ship and hides against it as she enters, believing him to have snuck inside. While clambering through the trench left by the ship's landing, he finds a puddle of [[energon (fuel)|energon]] leaking from a port on its underside. Grabbing a nearby stick, he uses his pocket knife and flint to set fire to it, then throws it into the leaking port. Airachnid, now standing on top of the ship, yells his name as the ship explodes.

Jack is thrown clear, but just as he's beginning to relax, a still-burning Airachnid pins him to a nearby tree with webbing. She moves in, ready for the kill, but Arcee comes barreling through the trees and beats her with feet and fists, finally sending the Decepticon flying through the forest, creating her own trail of debris. Arcee cuts down Jack, but then they hear the sound of drilling, and find Airachnid has burrowed into the ground and escaped.

Arcee says she admires Jack's bravery, and as she radios base for a GroundBridge, saying she needs to get her ''partner'' back to safety. As Jack notices the choice of words, Arcee quips that he's still the ''junior'' partner in this team.
*This episode contains four or five possible references to the ''[[Predator (alien)|Predator]]'' franchise: Airachnid's ship entering Earth's atmosphere resembles the movie's opening scene, Airachnid coming to Earth with the sole purpose of hunting humans echoes the Predator's motive, Airachnid's trophy case of heads is similar to one seen in ''Predator 2'', and the scene in which Jack uses a personally made flaming "arrow" to ignite energon resembles a tactic used by Arnold Schwarzenegger's character Dutch in the first film. The title "Predatory" may also be just as much a reference to ''Predator'' as it is to [[Predacon (disambiguation)|Predacon]]s.
'''The Autobots fight to defend Detroit from Megatron and his clones of Omega Supreme.'''

==Synopsis==
Outside the plant, the [[Autobot]]s observe the [[Lugnut Supreme]]s hovering above Detroit. [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] wonders what they are, and [[Ratchet (Animated)|Ratchet]] assumes that [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]] repurposed [[Starscream (Animated)|Starscream]]'s [[cloning]] technology to make clones of [[Omega Supreme (Animated)|Omega Supreme]]. Aboard the main Lugnut Supreme, Megatron decides to start the field test with [[Sumdac Tower]]. [[Lugnut (Animated)|Lugnut]] pontificates on the greatness of Megatron rather than getting it done, leading the annoyed Decepticon leader to ask [[Shockwave (Animated)|Shockwave]] if he can control the clones directly yet. However, Shockwave is still working on finding the necessary security patches from [[Arcee (Animated)|Arcee]]'s memory banks, and tells Megatron in an amused tone that he'll have to filter all orders for the clones through Lugnut.

In Detroit, the Lugnuts turn and open fire on Sumdac Tower. Fortunately, the force field goes up and protects the building. Unfortunately, it will only last for so long. Ratchet says that they need to launch an aerial assault with the [[Magnus Hammer]], but [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]] is a little unsure. [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]] then reinforces his leader's faltering confidence by promising to accompany him. Sari then offers to join them, and cuts off Optimus's "No, Sari—" with a rant about how she's always being told it's "too dangerous" for her to help, leaving her embarrassed when Prime says he was going to tell her to help protect the humans. He orders the others to help Sari in this, while he and Prowl take to the skies. Megatron initially assumes that the figure bearing the Magnus Hammer is [[Ultra Magnus (Animated)|Ultra Magnus]] himself, and is quite relieved when he sees it's only Optimus. The two airborne Autobots manage to avoid the missiles sent in their direction, but Prime's opening shot with the Magnus Hammer misses the Lugnuts. Ratchet says that he's receiving Omega's signal from the moon, and suggests they transwarp to the moon and sever Megatron's connection. Optimus approves, and orders him to take Bumblebee and [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]] with him. Prowl says that they need to bring the Lugnuts down all at once, and Optimus uses the Magnus Hammer to cause a tornado which sends the Lugnuts crashing toward [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|Dinobot Island]]. Megatron, livid, tells Lugnut to abort the field test, but Lugnut is forced to inform him that Prime's attack managed to damage the one Megatron was in and disable the flight mechanisms of the other two. Furious, Megatron tells him to have the clones destroy everything except Megatron himself, then leaves his clone and assumes his [[alternate mode|flight mode]], intending to take a more direct role.

At Sumdac Tower, Ratchet fires up the space bridge, ready to take Bumblebee and Bulkhead to retrieve Arcee and Omega Supreme. [[Sari Sumdac|Sari]] decides to go with them, telling [[Isaac Sumdac]] that she needs to go. Transforming to her full robot mode, she jumps through the portal with the Autobots. On the moon, Starscream reassembles himself and immediately takes off for Earth, saying he has a surprise for Megatron. The Autobots transwarp in mere moments after he leaves, as Sari is momentarily stunned just by being on the Moon, while the Autobots are more surprised by the lack of [[Decepticon]]s around. Over by Omega Supreme, Ratchet sees Arcee and runs to her. Unfortunately, she's reverted to her fugue Teacher Bot state. Worse, she's bait: Shockwave fires at them, barely missing them. Bumblebee and Bulkhead take on Shockwave, while Ratchet and Sari take Arcee inside Omega Supreme. Both bots are taken down, but Bulkhead manages to recover and charge Shockwave, knocking off his cannon. Shockwave briefly assumes his Longarm form and pleads for mercy, but Bulkhead destroys his cannon with his wrecking ball. Inside Omega Supreme, Ratchet discovers the damage to Arcee's processor is quite extensive, and any attempts to repair her could take her offline. Sari scans the malfunctioning intelbot and gives Ratchet instructions on how to use his EMP generator to restore her memory from her internal backups.

Over Detroit, Prime orders Prowl to break off from their fight with Megatron, find Jazz and try to slow the clones down. As he grapples with the Decepticon leader, he snaps and loudly declares his name after being patronisingly called "Autobot" by Megatron yet again.

In Omega Supreme, Ratchet manages to bring Arcee fully online, her memory back at the time it was when [[Lockdown (Animated)|Lockdown]] captured them. Ratchet promises that they'll catch up in time, but right now they need her [[activation code]]s to retake control of Omega Supreme. Bumblebee and Bulkhead enter and say they've found something Sari needs to see.

Back on Earth, on the ground, Prowl and Jazz try to get inside the Lugnut Supremes, but their armor is too strong to cut through, and Jazz radios Prime with news of their failure. Optimus tells them that the only thing powerful enough to shield the city is the AllSpark, but it's scattered everywhere. In return, flushed by his recent success in reconstituting a fragment, Prowl theorizes that they can use [[processor-over-matter]] to make the AllSpark whole again. Prime is doubtful, but Prowl is adamant, and flies his fellow ninjabot to Sumdac Tower.

As Ratchet and Arcee make their way to Omega Supreme's head, Sari is brought before the protoforms, and—believing this to be where she came from—gets a moment of closure from the experience. Outside, Ratchet uses his magnets to keep Arcee above Omega's face and the fembot uploads the codes, severing Lugnut's control over him. Omega Supreme ejects the massive Decepticon and heads for Earth once Sari and all the Autobots are aboard, with the three remaining protoforms.

On Earth, with Lugnut no longer guiding them, the clones briefly shut down... then reactivate with Starscream's face. The treacherous Decepticon tells Megatron that he planted bombs in the clones, aiming to destroy him and everything within a hundred-mile radius. Unable to remove the bombs inside, Megatron decides to instead destroy Optimus Prime, using the Autobot captain's name for the very first time. At Sumdac Tower, the force field fails much to Isaac Sumdac's distress, and Prowl and Jazz direct him to the building's bomb shelter, before they begin using processor-over-matter to collecting AllSpark fragments. Starscream arrives to observe the death of Megatron, but his AllSpark fragment suddenly begins pulling him toward the AllSpark being formed by Jazz and Prowl. Starscream panics and tries to destroy the two ninja-bots, but his AllSpark fragment is pulled from his head, and Starscream falls to the street, dead.

[[Image:EndgamePart2-Prowlsmiles.jpg|thumb|left|200px|[[Code of Hero|The rest...is silence.]]]]
Omega Supreme arrives and begins fighting the two clones. He is able to defeat one and disarm its bomb, but the other knocks him aside and forces him back to ship mode. At Sumdac Tower, Jazz says that they don't have enough Spark to shield the city, but neither he nor Prowl can pull in any more AllSpark fragments. Prowl recognizes that there is one other way to make the AllSpark chunk powerful enough, and levitates towards it. Jazz recognizes what he intends to do, and screams that they can find another way, but Prowl merely turns to give him a reassuring smile. Suddenly, the AllSpark releases a surge of energy, and Prowl falls back to the ground. Jazz catches his body, but it is too late: Prowl is dead. A field soon forms around the remaining clone, but Megatron and Optimus Prime are trapped within it. Megatron gloats that he will take Optimus with him, but a figure of light in Prowl's image removes Optimus from the force field. Megatron roars in anger as the clone detonates, and everything goes white...

Waking up, Optimus sees his fellow bots around him. They declare that they won, and begin to celebrate... until Jazz comes carrying Prowl's shell, revealing that the ninja-bot merged his spark with the AllSpark to give them it the necessary energy. Optimus moves toward his fallen comrade, but is instead knocked backwards by a purple blast. Megatron still functions! Ratchet uses his magnets to throw the Magnus Hammer to Optimus. In a rage, Optimus beats Megatron down. Lying helpless, Megatron urges Optimus to finish him, and Optimus brings the Magnus Hammer down...on Megatron's fusion cannon. Optimus says that killing Megatron is the easy way out, and the Decepticon leader doesn't deserve that. Instead, he places [[stasis cuffs]] on him.

[[Image:TFA-Endgame-PanAcrossEveryone.jpg|thumb|240px|We shall not forget them. Nor fail to reward that which is given. Courage with love, valour with honour, evil... with vengeance.]]
On [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], the Autobots return is hailed by a cheering crowd (except for [[Sentinel Prime (Animated)|Sentinel Prime]], who glowers), with Optimus carrying the Magnus Hammer, the large piece of the AllSpark around his neck, and Ratchet, Bumblebee, Bulkhead, and Jazz bearing Prowl's body. In addition, they bring with them the three rescued protoforms, and Megatron, Lugnut, and Shockwave as prisoners. Finally, to top it off, Omega Supreme transforms from ship mode, and this sends the crowd into another round of cheering, hailing Optimus Prime and his crew as the heroes they have proven themselves to be.

'''Megatron''': Lugnut, let's begin this field test with Sumdac Tower. I want to see my former prison crumble to the ground.<br>
'''Lugnut''': As you command, oh great and glorious Megatron! Your genius exceeds all others! And I am but your humble and obedient servant! Furthermore—<br>
'''Megatron''': Shockwave! Is there anyway to bypass this endless pontificating and command these clones directly?<br>
'''Shockwave''': Still working on the data patch, my liege. Until then, you'll just have to relay all. Orders. Through. Lugnut.
:—Megatron desperately seeks to cut out the middleman, while Shockwave demonstrates how to smirk without a face.

'''Sari''': I'm going too! I have a jetpack.<br>
'''Optimus''': No, Sari, it's—<br>
'''Sari''': Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's "too dangerous", I know. It's '''always''' "too dangerous"!<br>
'''Optimus''': I was ''going'' to say, "It's more important for you to protect your father and your fellow organics."<br>
'''Sari''': Oh. Right. Sorry.
:—Sari isn't used to being treated as an equal.

'''Megatron''': Lugnut, this field test has been a complete failure! Order the other clones back to the Moon immediately!<br>
'''Lugnut''': Forgive me, oh Great One, but their flight capabilities are disabled.<br>
'''Megatron''': Then destroy the Autobots. Destroy the city. Destroy anything that's not '''me'''!
:—Megatron may have finally gone off the deep-end. And it shows, too.

"''Get away'' from my weapons of mass destruction."<br>
:—'''Megatron''', apparently about to send '''Optimus Prime''' to bed without his supper.

'''Shockwave:''' ''(changes to Longarm)'' G-guys...buddies...you...wouldn't want to take out your old platoon mate Longarm, would you?<br>
'''Bumblebee:''' No...of course we wouldn't.<br>
'''Bulkhead:''' Oh, not in a million stellar cycles, pal.<br>
(smashes Shockwave's arm cannon)
:—Not all Autobots are that gullible, '''Shockwave'''. Thanks for playing, though.

'''Ratchet:''' Those Deceptiscums fried her processor trying to remove the activation code...but if I tried to rewire her circuitry, it could take her offline for good.<br>
'''Sari:''' ''(touches Arcee on the knee)'' You need to recalibrate your EMP generator into a data recovery tool. Then you can salvage Arcee's secondary memory storage from her hard drive, bypassing her corrupted input/output systems.<br>
'''Ratchet:''' I suppose us...machines just told you that?<br>
'''Sari:''' Pretty much.
:—In case you didn't get that, Sari has just solved in five seconds what Cybertron's [[Perceptor (Animated)|greatest]] [[Wheeljack (Animated)|minds]] couldn't for millions of years. Wait. '''''WHAT?!'''''

"You're a persistent little Autobot."<br>
"My name is OPTIMUS PRIME!"
:—'''Megatron''' and '''Optimus Prime'''

''(After Omega Supreme boots Lugnut out of himself, the Lugnut Supreme clones cease functioning)''<br>
"Lugnut? '''Attack!''' '''Your glorious leader commands you!'''"<br>
:—Lugnut's key praise is so endearing, it even has '''Megatron''' saying it out loud...at the worst possible time.

"If I cannot save my clones, at least I'll have the satisfaction of destroying you, '''Optimus Prime'''."<br>
"So, you ''can'' remember my name!"
:—Took you long enough, '''Megatron'''.

"What are you waiting for, Autobot? Finish me." ''(Optimus raises the Magnus Hammer and smashes Megatron's cannon)''<br>
"That would be the easy way out, Megatron. ''You'' don't ''deserve'' it."
:-'''Optimus''' finally gives '''Megatron''' exactly what he deserves.

==Notes==

===Animation or technical errors===
* When Omega Supreme runs towards one of the Lugnut Supremes, the clone has a [[Shattered Glass (franchise)|purple Autobot symbol]] on its midsection as it gets up.

* Megatron's helicopter cockpit kibble (usually seen behind his head on his back) briefly vanishes for a second as he kicks Optimus Prime towards the AllSpark-powered force field.

* Just as Bulkhead punches Shockwave, for a split second, Shockwave's colors are those of his Autobot counterpart, Longarm (with the noticeable teal coloring on his chassis).

* Prowl's ghost appears with his armour on, but when it reaches out to save Optimus, the armour has vanished.

* When [[Megatron (Animated)|Megatron]] makes one last attempt to destroy [[Optimus Prime (Animated)|Optimus Prime]], his right shoulder guard is drawn rather small. As he's knocked down to Earth and insists Optimus finishes him, it reverts back to its proper size.

[[Image:AutobotGroupShotEndgamePartII.jpg|right|300px|thumb|Blink and you'll miss it.]]

* Quite a number of animation errors can be seen immediately after Optimus Prime stasis cuffs Megatron (right before a kneeling Omega Supreme gets up.) The Magnus Hammer has disappeared, [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl's]] body is drawn like a boxy black mannequin in [[Jazz (Animated)|Jazz]]'s arms with very little detail, Jazz himself (as well as Bulkhead) are missing their Autobot insignias, [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] appears rather tiny compared to the other Autobots, and Sari appears to be either hovering off of the ground or standing on [[Bulkhead (Animated)|Bulkhead]]'s foot. Oh, and [[Arcee (Animated)|Arcee]] is missing from the shot as well. Dandy.

*When Optimus Prime first disembarks from Omega Supreme at the end of the episode, he is shown to be almost as tall as Megatron and Lugnut, who, by all rights, should be towering over him in height. They are drawn at their proper scale once they stand before the cheering crowd, though.

*When the Autobots hold up [[Prowl (Animated)|Prowl]]'s coffin before the cheering crowd (as seen in the picture on this page), Prowl's body is drawn rather short. If one compared the height of his body to [[Bumblebee (Animated)|Bumblebee]] at his left, Bumblebee would actually be a head taller.

*After Bulkhead knocks over Shockwave and he converts into Longarm, Shockwave's cannon is on the ground behind Longarm, yet when we see Longarm from the back he has the crane piece attached to his back. Whoops.

* The [[Magnus Hammer]]'s handle again changes length from shot to shot.

===Continuity errors===
*Due to the incomplete activation code, the Lugnut Supremes only worked when Lugnut consciously directed them from Omega Supreme. Yet after Omega tossed him out, not only did Starscream take them over, they continued to function autonomously after he was dead.

===Transformers references===

[[Image:TFA Prime with Matrix.jpg|right|150px|thumb|This is awesome and you love it.]]

*At the very end, Optimus Prime is shown with the large piece of AllSpark which Jazz and Prowl pulled together, in a container strongly resembling the [[Matrix of Leadership]]—and he's [[The Transformers: The Movie|wearing it on a chain around his neck]].

*Even at this late stage, a new face still appears in the crowd scene on Cybertron: [[Hubcap (Animated)|Hubcap]]. [[Dai Atlas (Animated)|Dai Atlas]] and [[Sky Garry (Animated)|Sky Garry]] make their first in-person appearances (though Dai Atlas only appears from behind), and the unnamed, orange female robot, whose arm could ''juuuuuust'' be seen poking in from offscreen back in "[[Decepticon Air]]", also gets to appear in full. The crowd also includes a ''crazy'' amount of miscolored-slash-[[generic]] robots, including such gems as a [[Hot Shot (Animated)|Hot Shot]]-colored robot wearing the [[65356-9292-346]] body type, a blue-and-green Sky Garry and a yellow [[Warpath (Animated)|Warpath]].

* Yoketron's dying words in "[[Five Servos of Doom]]" (where he tells Prowl that he will understand when his time comes) finally come to pass.

* Megatron delivers the warning
* To celebrate this being the last episode to air in Japan, the Japanese dubbing cast sang the [[Japanese themes|opening]] "[[Transformers Evo.|TRANSFORMERS EVO.]]" over [[JAM Project]]'s [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ueQA3QUO-eY original track].
* For the [[Otoboto family]] segment, "Santa" delivers several toys: Optimus Light & Sound to [[Tatsuya Otoboto|Tatsuya]], Megatron Light & Sound to [[Yūka Otoboto|Yūka]], and [[United (toyline)|United]] [[Optimus Prime (Prime)#Generations|Optimus]] to [[Hiroyuki Otoboto|Hiroyuki]]. After some bantering, "Santa" reveals himself to be actually [[Udo]]! He later gets conned into drinking a suspiciously-looking green health drink and reacts badly to it comically. The segment closes with a photo of the family and Udo holding flower bouquets - in Japan, it's tradition to give flower bouquets to major staff and cast members after a production is wrapped up, be it a movie, TV series, or a music video.
* Optimus thanks the audience for watching and promises that they'll meet again one day.

===Real-world references===
*Ratchet refers to the Lugnut Supremes as "[[bootleg|knockoffs]]".

===Trivia===
*Shockwave transforms into a ''purple'' Longarm. Maybe he was just confused or [[To sell toys|something]].
*Jazz states that they can't find all the AllSpark fragments; at the very least, this makes sense because [[Skywarp (Animated)|Skywarp]], [[Thundercracker (Animated)|Thundercracker]], [[Sunstorm (Animated)|Sunstorm]], and [[Ramjet (Animated)|Ramjet]] aren't on Earth anymore. There is no indication that any other Earthbound characters animated by AllSpark fragments were defragmented and killed like Starscream, and they don't seem to be kept alive the same way he is. At [[BotCon 2009]], the writers revealed that they had intended to show Wreck-Gar and at least one of the Constructicons to confirm their survival, but that this scene was cut for time.
*This is the first episode since "[[Megatron Rising - Part 2]]" to feature Prime's faceplate.
*Shockwave claimed in "[[This Is Why I Hate Machines]]" that using Omega Supreme's original activation codes on him once more would wipe his memories, morals and personality, allowing a new mentor-con to turn him into a model Decepticon—a fact which Ratchet and [[Perceptor (Animated)|Perceptor]] apparently both agreed was true. Since Arcee uses the codes on Omega in this episode, did this cause a reset to factory settings? If not, why not? Could it perhaps have something to do with that patch they were talking about?
*There seems to be a scene missing involving Lugnut - when Omega Supreme discards him onto the lunar surface and flies to Earth, he is neither captured nor incapacitated, and it's been shown repeatedly that Decepticons (including Starscream in this episode and Lugnut himself in "[[Lost and Found (episode)|Lost and Found]]") are capable of making ''at least'' the Moon-Earth trip under their own power, where [[Slipstream (Animated)|Slipstream]] has apparently evaded detection for the whole of S3. His off-screen capture is therefore noteworthy.
*Arcee didn't join the other Autobots on their victory/funeral parade at the end.
*It is revealed during the events of this episode, that while in her robot mode, Sari doesn't need an external oxygen supply.
*As of this episode, there's a lot of remaining uncaptured Decepticons!
**Thundercracker and Skywarp are still floating out somewhere in space.
**[[Blackarachnia (Animated)|Blackarachnia]] and a bleeding, shattered [[Wasp|Waspinator]] are still in that mysterious jungle, precise whereabouts (and even ''when''abouts) unknown.
**[[Laserbeak (Animated)|Laserbeak]] fled the scene with the sentient part of [[Soundwave (Animated)|Soundwave]] in "[[Human Error, Part II]]".
**[[Scrapper (Animated)|Scrapper]]'s whereabouts are presumably still known to the Autobots; he may have returned to [[Dinobot Island (Animated)|Dinobot Island]] with [[Snarl (Animated)|Snarl]] after "Human Error".
**[[Swindle (Animated)|Swindle]] leaves for parts unknown in "[[Decepticon Air]]". Although he did mention something about retiring to an island on [[Nebulos]] (where the [[energon (fuel)|energon]] is as smooth as a [[protoform]]'s bottom).
**[[Lockdown (Animated)|Lockdown]], [[Slipstream (Animated)|Slipstream]], [[Team Chaar]] and any unseen Decepticons all remain at large.
**There are a lot more Decepticons at large and on the loose than the main cast, as shown in [[Dispatches]], where a large group of unamed [[Generic]] Decepticons are present at Megatron's funeral as Blitzwing rambles on like a madman.
*Several other plot points have yet to have been resolved by the end of this episode:
**Sari's origin has yet to be completely explained. It still hasn't been revealed how or why a protoform showed up on Earth years ago, or why it looked so different compared to other protoforms seen during the course of the series. Since it has been shown that all the protoforms Lockdown stole were blanks, it's unlikely she came from that batch.
**[[Meltdown (Animated)|Meltdown]] was last shown apparently reconstituting himself at the end of "[[Black Friday (episode)|Black Friday]]", and has not been seen since.
**Wreck-Gar and all three Dinobots are not present at the end of the episode, and presumably are still on Earth. Although it could be speculated that they stayed there by choice, one must wonder what kind of measures that Optimus and company took to prevent said bots from any more disastrous encounters with the populace of Earth.
**[[Ultra Magnus (Animated)|Ultra Magnus]] was last seen being repaired, but his fate isn't revealed in-show. The Allspark Almanac confirms he died.
** [[Blurr (Animated)|Blurr]] was last seen crushed into a cube and tossed into an incinerator. We don't see him get incinerated, though we also don't see any evidence he survived being cubified.
*[[Slipstream (Animated)|Slipstream]] was originally intended to have a small role in this episode, in which she would resurrect Starscream after the Autobots left Earth. This scene was ultimately cut for time.
*This is the final episode to feature Optimus, Bumblebee, Megatron, Starscream, Prowl and every other character in the series. We remind you so we may see you weep...we hate to cry alone. But... there is hope. IDW might continue the series in comic form. Join us as we get down on our hands and knees and beg IDW to do this for us.
{{disambig3|Inferno}}
:''Inferno is a [[Predacon (BW)|Predacon]] from the [[Beast Wars (franchise)|Beast Wars]] portion of the [[Generation 1 continuity family]].''

[[Image:Infernobwpostcard.jpg|right|300px|thumb|Burninating the countryside, burninating the Maximals, burninating all the Autobots and their crashed old SPACESHIIIIIIIPS! CRASHED OLD SPACESHIIIIIPS!]]

'''Inferno''' wholeheartedly believes that he is an ant and that [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] is his queen. Unlike many Predacons, he has no personal ambitions or future plans; everything he does is for the good of the colony and his queen. Luckily for Inferno, many of the tasks his queen assigns him involve burning things—and he ''likes'' burning things.

Keeping with his ant mentality, Inferno has absolutely no regard for his own personal safety whatsoever. He is fanatically loyal to Megatron, and as such will use his heavy firepower and incredible strength full-on and take any task given of him, no matter how suicidal. And he'll do it laughing maniacally the entire time, for the glory of the colony.

An alternate-universe iteration of Inferno was caught up in the [[Universe war]] and joined the [[Autobot]]s. No, really. Another one was rebuilt into a [[Vehicon (BM)|Vehicon]], then also ended up in that war.

[[Image:Spider's Game Inferno Tigatron.jpg|thumb|left|250px|Fire beats wood!]]

When Inferno's [[stasis pod]] crashed to prehistoric [[Earth]], [[Tarantulas]] and [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia]] immediately set out to claim him as their own. Unfortunately, Inferno had been awakened automatically, having scanned the form of a fire ant. Moreover, his beast mode came to overwhelm his logic circuits, causing Inferno to become wholly convinced that he was an actual fire ant and that his stasis pod was his "colony". [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]] arrived at the scene and was immediately attacked by Inferno and Blackarachnia. During the fight, Tarantulas escaped with the stasis pod, which was his real goal, and an enraged Inferno followed. Pursuing the Predacons, [[Tigatron]] was able to destroy the stasis pod before Tarantulas was able to get it to his lab. This act put Inferno completely over the edge, and he went even crazier (if possible). Before he could finish Tigatron off, however, [[Optimus Primal|Optimus]] and [[Airazor (BW)|Airazor]] showed up and blew him to bits.

However, [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]] took an immediate shine to the brutish psychopath, stating, "Oooohhh, I ''like'' him," and had him restored, possibly with some mental improvements. Thereafter, Inferno was fanatically loyal to Megatron, thinking of him as his "Queen", which Megatron found ''very'' annoying. A few death threats convinced Inferno to call Megatron "the Royalty" instead, although he occasionally backslid. {{storylink|Spider's Game}}

Inferno took part in the Predacon hunt after the Maximals' beast instincts had overtaken their programming. He merrily shot at their quarry, at least until the Maximals were able to overcome their beast instincts. Then he was shot out of the air by [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]]. {{storylink|Call of the Wild}} He led a diversionary assault on the ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]'' with [[Waspinator (BW)|Waspinator]] and [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] to allow Tarantulas to deliver an [[energon discharge virus]], and later accompanied his Queen to [[Tarantulas's lair]] to find more of the virus. Unfortunately, this meant he was at ground zero when [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] blew the Predacons away with an enormous fart. {{storylink|The Low Road}}

{{quote|The Royalty commands your wreckage, destroyer of my colony!|Inferno still holding a grudge against Tigatron|"[[Law of the Jungle]]"}}

Though supposedly under Terrorsaur's leadership for an attack on Cheetor and [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]], Inferno didn't wait for the signal to attack, instead plunging into frenzied battle. Though he had Cheetor pinned down for most of the fight, he was blasted out of the air by Tigatron. The three Predacons later ambushed Dinobot, defeating the Maximal before Terrorsaur and Waspinator were both taken out by Optimus. Inferno had Dinobot and Primal in his sights when Tigatron turned up to defend them. Inferno's act of igniting a nearby tree only made the Maximal more furious, and Inferno was soon blown away. {{storylink|Law of the Jungle}}

Sent on a mission by the Royalty, Inferno discovered a [[Golden Disk (Vok)|Golden Disk]] and managed to retrieve it, even as his systems were suffering from energon overload. After returning to base, he underwent repairs and subsequently took part in an attempt to stop Tigatron escaping the ''[[Darksyde]]''. He plummeted out of the air after Primal disconnected his jet thruster, and he had to be hauled back to base. {{storylink|Before the Storm}}

[[Image:OtherVoices1 Inferno ant mode.jpg|thumb|right|250px|And as we discussed last semester, the army ants will leave nothing but your bones.]]
It wasn't long before he was given a new mission by the Royalty, and he tailed Blackarachnia and Tarantulas to the ''Axalon'', though he was temporarily delayed by having to dig a tunnel under the ship's force field. {{storylink|Other Voices, Part 1}} He found the two spiders in the hold of the ''Axalon'', working on a stasis pod. Blasting Blackarachnia and setting Tarantulas on fire, Inferno barely had time to check out what they were doing before Blackarachnia recovered and shot him back. {{storylink|Other Voices, Part 2}} After pulling himself together, he attacked Rhinox and Dinobot on the ''Axalon''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s bridge, eventually being defeated and thrown bodily from the ship. The Royalty, faced with imminent defeat, gathered up his loyal soldier and retreated. {{storylink|Aftermath}}

[[Image:ComingoftheFuzors1 Inferno flamethrower.jpg|thumb|left|280px]]
With [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]]'s demise, Inferno was promoted to [[Second-in-command|Sub-Commander]]. After the two [[Fuzor]]s were "born", Inferno attacked them vigorously until the Royalty batted him aside and talked the pair into joining the Predacons. [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]] later rode Inferno into battle against Dinobot, Cheetor and [[Rattrap]]. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors (Part 1)}} A mid-air collision saw Inferno and the Royalty temporarily swapping heads. The Predacons were on the verge of victory when [[Optimus Primal]] appeared, reborn as a [[Transmetal]]. Inferno accidentally blew away Tarantulas and Quickstrike before failing to beat Primal in a quick draw, and the Predacons were eventually forced to retreat. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors (Part 2)}}

Inferno and Waspinator were assigned to construct a [[jamming tower]], a mission they quickly completed, though in a manic fit, Inferno brought the new tower down on Waspinator's head while the latter was reporting to the Royalty. {{storylink|Tangled Web}} The pair then teamed up with Quickstrike to ambush Dinobot and Rattrap. Inferno managed to pin Dinobot down but ran out of ammo, and he would probably have been torn apart by the Maximal if it wasn't for Waspinator managing to take out [[Silverbolt (BW)|Silverbolt]] and Dinobot with one shot. After commending Waspinator for serving their Queen well, Inferno gathered up Dinobot and flew his prize back to base. {{storylink|Maximal, No More}}

[[Image:Rock 'em an' sock 'em, Rhinox.jpg|thumb|right|220px|Nope.]]
Always keen to shoot something, Inferno joined Blackarachnia and the Royalty on a mission to infiltrate the ''Axalon''. While the Queen distracted Rhinox, Inferno and Blackarachnia slipped inside, and Inferno was able to blast the Maximal. Unfortunately, Rhinox quickly recovered and dealt Inferno a flurry of uppercuts to the chin, but this only gave the Royalty the chance to come to his loyal soldier's aid, and the trio were able to make off with the alien Golden Disk. The Predacons later visited an alien site and were blasted by an [[Metal Hunter|alien construct]] which appeared there. {{storylink|Other Visits (Part 1)}} The Royalty was able to take control of the construct, restoring Inferno and the others to the land of the living, before sending him on a mission with Waspinator to retrieve a [[transwarp cell]]. Afterward, Inferno was pressed into action defending the construct from the Maximals, and thus wasn't aboard when it exploded. {{storylink|Other Visits (Part 2)}}

Inferno, Quickstrike and the Royalty monitored Silverbolt and Blackarachnia, and Inferno wondered aloud why the spider didn't shoot the Fuzor. {{storylink|Bad Spark}} He merrily torched a valley full of [[protohuman]]s until Dinobot impaled him, used him as a shield, and then used Inferno's own gun to blow his head off. {{storylink|Code of Hero}} Inferno was sent to retrieve a new stasis pod, only to be disabled by Silverbolt. He recovered and fired on Silverbolt...and hit [[Transmutate (character)|Transmutate]] instead, triggering the creature to unleash its attack on everyone present. Inferno was surprisingly the only one sensible enough to duck the blast, and later joined [[Rampage (BW)|Rampage]] in presenting the newcomer to his Queen. After some negotiation, the Royalty agreed to give Transmutate a chance, and the trio ambushed Silverbolt. When Transmutate refused to finish Silverbolt off, Inferno pushed it aside to shoot Silverbolt, only to be blasted by Transmutate's sonic weapon. {{storylink|Transmutate (episode)|Transmutate}}

[[Image:OptimalSituation battered Inferno.jpg|thumb|left|270px]]
With rescue for the Maximals seemingly impending, the Predacons mounted a full attack on the ''Axalon'', only to be driven off by [[Ravage (G1)|Ravage]]'s cloaked [[transwarp cruiser]]. The Maximals subsequently teamed up to assault the Predacon base. During the attack, Inferno attempted to blast Rhinox, only to be perforated by a chaingun. {{storylink|The Agenda (Part 1)}} Megatron's troops were scattered after the defeat, Inferno heading for a cave full of [[Energon (fuel)|energon]]. There he was found by Primal and Cheetor, and he ended up sacrificing himself by detonating a huge cache of energon in a failed attempt to defeat the Maximals. {{storylink|The Agenda (Part 2)}} Despite his apparent vaporization, he revived yet again, though with several holes in his chassis. He joined his Queen at the [[Ark (G1)|Ark]], and they headed for the ''Axalon'' along with Waspinator. They never reached their objective, being intercepted by Optimus Primal and Cheetor while still en route. {{storylink|Optimal Situation}}

Inferno was assigned to attack the new Maximal base with Rampage. Inferno's plan to draw Optimus out seemed to work, but Rampage had gotten distracted and left Inferno to it, and the fire ant was swiftly crushed by a boulder dropped by Blackarachnia. {{storylink|Deep Metal}} Inferno was next teamed up with Waspinator and Quickstrike to attempt to steal the [[Sentinel (BW)|Sentinel]] module from the Maximals. After Waspinator was taken out by Silverbolt and Rattrap, Inferno pursued them relentlessly until he was able to snatch the module and return triumphantly with it to his Queen. {{storylink|Changing of the Guard}}

[[Image:CuttingEdge Inferno aiming gun.jpg|thumb|right|240px]]
During a period when the Maximal base was undermanned, Inferno took part in an attack lead by his Queen. When Quickstrike was given lead position as they entered the base, Inferno asked why he hadn't been chosen, but the reason became clear moments later as Quickstrike was taken out by a sequence of booby traps. The Predacons stormed the base, but met with heavy resistance in the form of [[Depth Charge (BW)|Depth Charge]], and were forced to retreat. {{storylink|Cutting Edge}} After Inferno plugged in the Predacons' new [[disruptor cannon]] too soon, he and Waspinator were forced to kidnap [[Una]] to complete installing the shielding. The task was completed, but Una escaped with Rattrap's help. Inferno, Waspinator and [[Dinobot II|Dinobot]] gave chase, only to end up colliding after Rattrap flicked mud into Waspinator's face. They returned to the cave housing the cannon in time for its firing, but as Una had taken the stabilizer crystal, it merely exploded. {{storylink|Go with the Flow}}

As the Predacons attempted to disrupt the power in the Maximal base during an operation to save Blackarachnia, Inferno managed to find the blind spot for the Maximal auto-guns from which he could safely fire. While crowing that the traitor would soon be destroyed, he was attacked by Optimus. He managed to dodge the missiles, but the move took him out of the blind spot, and he was promptly blasted by the auto-guns. {{storylink|Crossing the Rubicon}} A new plan allowed the Predacons to conquer the Maximal base, and Inferno was left in charge of the unconscious Maximals. Blackarachnia, the only one still functioning, got him to chase her and tricked him into stepping outside the base so she could shut him out and turn the auto-guns on him. {{storylink|Master Blaster}}

[[Image:Nemesis2 Inferno's last moments.jpg|thumb|left|200px]]
The destruction of the ''[[Darksyde]]'' at the hands of the [[Vok]]s' emissary, [[Tigerhawk]], left Inferno distraught at the loss of their colony. A short time later, he, Waspinator and Quickstrike were literally blown away by Tigerhawk. {{storylink|Other Victories}} After Inferno asserted that they needed to found a new colony, the Royalty sent him with Quickstrike and Waspinator to do just that. They soon found a potential new colony in the form of a protohuman settlement and, after the setback of Waspinator abandoning the cause and having to be shot, Inferno and Quickstike began their takeover. Unfortunately, the protohumans had been learning and met force with resistance. {{storylink|Nemesis Part 1}} Nonetheless, they seemed to succeed largely in driving the protohumans out, and they celebrated as the ''[[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]'' appeared overhead. The celebration was short-lived, as moments later, the ship's main [[fusion cannon]] obliterated the area, killing both Predacons.
[[Image:Inferno-tfu.jpg|left|200px|thumb|"I don't rock and roll. I...extinguish."]]
The Inferno of a parallel Beast Wars was pulled from his universe and altered by [[Unicron]] into a "Fire Chief" Lamborghini. He retained his mad desire to engulf his enemies in searing, metal-melting flames...but all of his new weaponry was designed to ''extinguish'' fires. [[Optimus Primal]] freed him from the [[Cauldron]], and Inferno began following his new "queen" with fanatical devotion as an Autobot and [[Child of Primus]]. Even with his anticlimactic new weapons, he still attacked his [[Minion of Unicron|enemies]] with savage disregard for his own personal safety.

Another alternate Inferno survived his universe's Beast Wars and ended up back on Cybertron, where Megatron converted him to a [[Vehicon (BM)|Vehicon]]. This upgrade removed most of his madness, but not his loyalty to his beloved queen. Alas, he somehow ended up in the Universe war as well, serving Optimus Primal against Unicron.
==Notes==
[[Image:Inferno dies agenda2.jpg|right|150px|thumb|BEST DEATH EVER. That guy in season three is, uh, actually Scavenger. Yeah.]]
* [[Hasbro]] originally intended Inferno to be the new body for Megatron. According to [http://groups.google.com/group/alt.toys.transformers/browse_thread/thread/b334d45514e26ab4/bc8e54e9165e0823?hl=en&amp;lnk=st&amp;q=bob+forward+interview+inferno+megatron&amp;rnum=1#bc8e54e9165e0823 a 1997 interview conducted by fan HooksX], Bob Forward stated, "For a while there Hasbro was planning to make the Inferno toy the new Megatron. We were going to kill Megatron and bring him back as Inferno." The closest they got was in "[[Coming of the Fuzors (Part 2)]]" when Megatron and Inferno had a collision and swapped heads.
* No one knows exactly ''how'' Inferno's beast mode mentality became so dominant; his stasis pod was perfectly intact upon landing, thus ruling out any problems due to damaged circuitry, and Tarantulas's other attempts at reprogramming Maximals caused no such glitch in personality. Perhaps soldier ants simply have such strong instincts that they couldn't be resisted, or perhaps Tarantulas did something different this time around. Or... something.
*Inferno quite clearly gets utterly vaporized in an energon explosion at the end of Season 2; the [[Madman Entertainment]] Season 2 DVD commentary states that Inferno was indeed meant to die in the scene. At the time of the episode's production, it wasn't known if ''Beast Wars'' would be renewed for a third season (the show's chief writers once stated at BotCon that they'd adopted a "kill 'em all, let Hasbro sort 'em out" attitude towards the show's season finales.) When the show was renewed, Inferno was brought back, looking charred but more or less intact.
*Like Waspinator, Inferno's beast mode is female, as male ants are winged drones, which Inferno, due to his lack of wings, clearly is not. So, like Waspinator (and to some extent Tigatron), he has the distinction of being a guy in a girl's body.
* It's unknown as to why Transmetal Scavenger, a toy clearly designed to be an upgraded Inferno, ended up not being Inferno except in Japan. Maybe Hasbro was just really keen on reclaiming the "[[Scavenger (disambiguation)|Scavenger]]" [[trademark]]. Another theory is that since there were ant colonies of Inferno [[Shelfwarmer|clogging store shelves]] (as Inferno had been shipped in a solid [[case]]), retailers wouldn't want even more Infernos, so Hasbro had the name changed. Ironically, colonies of Scavengers also formed, as the Transmetal was also shipped in a solid case.
*Inferno's ''Universe'' mass-release and his wave-mate [[Ratchet (Universe)|Ratchet]] were given the "group" name "Machine Robot Rescue", presumably in an attempt by [[Hasbro]] to block competitor [[Bandai]] from using the name for a potential importation of their [[Wikipedia:Machine_Robo_Rescue|Machine Robo Rescue]] toy series from Japan to the US.
'''Ultra Magnus''' is an evil and treacherous [[Autobot]]. Like [[Alpha Trion (SG)|many]] [[Rodimus (SG)|other]] [[Thunderclash (SG)|Autobots]], he has plans to take over the faction, though his current forced exile on [[Paradron]] might make further attempts difficult. [[Cyclonus (SG)|Cyclonus]] hates him with a passion, for reasons unknown, even joining the [[Decepticon]]s just to oppose him.

==Fiction==
===Shattered Glass===
At one point, Ultra Magnus led an attempted coup against [[Optimus Prime (SG)|Optimus Prime]], with [[Hound (SG)|Hound]] and [[Blurr (SG)|Blurr]] as his only ''known'' supporters, though Hound was reportedly a link between Magnus and [[Alpha Trion (SG)|Alpha Trion]]. {{storylink|Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club issue 28|SG Hound's magazine profile}} When the coup failed, Prime had Magnus exiled to Paradron as punishment. {{storylink|Hasbro Transformers Collectors' Club issue 29|SG Cyclonus' magazine profile}}
While trapped with [[Sideswipe (SG)|Sideswipe]] in the maze leading to the [[Omega Terminus]] chamber, [[Blurr (SG)|Blurr]] referred to [[Cliffjumper (G1)|Cliffjumper]] as a "traitorous lunatic". Sideswipe countered by saying that Blurr was one to talk, and asked how Ultra Magnus was doing. Blurr said Magnus was doing "better than [[Drench (SG)|Drench]]", at least. {{storylink|Dungeons & Dinobots}}
==Notes==
* So far Ultra Magnus has only been mentioned by other characters.
* In "[[Eye in the Sky]]", [[Rodimus (SG)|Rodimus]] mentioned a battle for leadership between Optimus and his brother that had Prime coming out on top (He cheated of course). Despite [[Robots in Disguise (franchise)|previous]] [[Dreamwave Generation One continuity|instances]], there is no canonical evidence yet that the brother was Magnus.
* Will Ultra Magnus deal with it now?
:''Waspinator is a [[Predacon]] from the [[Beast Era]] portion of the [[Generation 1]] [[continuity family]].''

[[Image:Waspinatorbw.jpg|right|thumb|300px|Waspinator: chew-toy of fate.]]

'''Waspinator''' is the universe's whipping boy. If something goes wrong, it happens to him. If something blows up, he's usually at the epicenter of the explosion. He has been blasted, burned, shot down, torn up, crushed, slashed, smashed, bashed, and otherwise reduced to his component parts times beyond counting. Disturbingly, [[Rattrap]] has taken to collecting his severed components.

Waspinator's not the brightest 'bot in the Beast Wars. Megatron has classified the harebrained Predacon as expendable, much to Waspinator's dismay; he doesn't get much more respect from anyone else, either. His speech quirks doesn't help: he tends to refer to himself in the third person, and to most other people by nicknames like [[Cheetor (BW)|"cat-bot"]] and [[Quickstrike (BW)|"two-head"]]. He's also a bit too fond of the letter "Z" (those prone to witticisms might say he has a "lizzzzp").

Waspinator may be dumb, but he's not stupid. He has caught on to his lot in life, and tries to avoid his fate as often as possible... but fate always finds him. Thankfully, he's almost supernaturally durable, and has survived the most devastating and humiliating of defeats.

While [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]], his [[Dinobot (BW)|lieutenant]], and [[Scorponok (BW)|another underling]] stole a Maximal relic, the [[Golden Disk]], the Predacon who would later name himself Waspinator stole a ship with the help of an accomplice he nicknamed "[[Terrorsaur (BW)|Beakbot]]." The two had a contest to name the ship, but "Waspinator" lost, and thus the stolen ship was dubbed the ''[[Darksyde]]''. "Waspinator" believed ''Buzzerbot'' would have been a better name. For reasons known only to [[Primus]], Megatron agreed.

After escaping [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], the ''Darksyde'' was intercepted by the ''[[Axalon (BW)|Axalon]]'' and the ''[[Chromia 10]]'', but after an intense space battle, only the ''Darksyde'' and the ''Axalon'' remained. Megatron ordered "Waspinator" to ''excecute'' their planned [[transwarp]] jump, opening up a portal which both ships entered. {{storylink|Dawn of Future's Past}}

====''Beast Wars''====
:''Voice Actor'': [[Scott McNeil]] (US), [[Kensō Katō]] (Japan), [[Ivo Roberto]] (Brazil)

Waspinator, part of Megatron's rogue band of Predacons, landed on an unknown planet with dangerous levels of unstable [[energon]]. To protect themselves from the energon, the Predacons took organic beast modes. In Waspinator's case, he now transformed into a large green wasp. The first conflict between the stranded Predacons and their Maximal pursuers came when the Maximal [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] stumbled across Waspinator.

When [[Rhinox]] had his personality program converted to that of a Predacon, he started surreptitiously taking out the various Predacons. He swung a cargo crate into Waspinator, giving him a concussion. As a result, Waspy flew around in a daze, claiming to be the [[Insecticon (G1)|Insecticon]] [[Shrapnel]] as well as the great [[Ben Yee|Wonko the Sane]]. This dementia was apparently reversed when Cheetor later got annoyed at his yattering and shot him down. {{storylink|Dark Designs}}

The "ghost" of [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]] traveled through time and possessed his body (even changing the Predacon sigil on his helmet to a [[Decepticon]] one). It took a major [[energon]] explosion to dislodge Starscream's immortal [[spark]] from Waspinator's body. It also had the after-effect of giving Waspinator a headache in his ''whole'' body. {{storylink|Possession}}

After the [[Vok|mysterious aliens]] detonated the unstable energon on the planet using the [[Planet Buster|artificial second moon]], Waspinator fell into the Restoration pool on the bridge of the ''Darksyde'' as the ship was rocked by the force of the [[transwarp]] wave resultant from the moon's explosion. Bathed in the regenerative fluids, this prevented him from becoming a [[Transmetal]]. He was also the first to realize that this seemingly unknown planet was, in fact, [[Earth]]. [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] had made the same realization and stole into the ''Darksyde'' to retrieve both of Megatron's disks. Waspinator proposed the two work together to steal the disks, and much to his surprise, Dinobot agreed... and threw him into the security shield. Waspinator was crushed into a cube by the disks' security contraption, leaving Dinobot free to steal the disks unharmed, while Waspinator crawled away to the CR chamber using two fingers. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors (Part 1)}}

After the destruction of the ''Darksyde'' at [[Tigerhawk]]'s hands, Megatron sent Waspinator, [[Inferno (BW)|Inferno]], and [[Quickstrike (BW)|Quickstrike]] on an errand to find a new base, which was really nothing more than pointless busywork while Megatron went to do more important things. As the trio staked out an early [[human]] tribe that had taken up residence in a series of caves, Waspinator decided he'd finally had enough and ripped off his [[Faction symbols|Predacon symbol]], declaring himself out of the Beast Wars.

''"I said '''no!''' [[Megatron (BW)|Dragon-Bot]] command '''you,''' [[Sub-Commander]] [[Inferno (BW)|Kiss-Butt]]! Dragon-Bot not command Waspinator! Not any more! Waspinator sick of being evil! Sick of being Predacon! And Waspinator especially sick of getting blown to '''scrap''' all the time! Sooo, Waspinator '''quit!''' As of '''now,''' which means [[Inferno (BW)|Ant-Bot]] and [[Quickstrike (BW)|Two-Head]] can just pucker their mandibles and plant [[Kiss|big, wet, juicy one]] right here on Waspinator's big . . . fat . . . stripy . . . "''

At this point Waspinator was interrupted by getting blown to scrap by Inferno and Quickstrike. It is also worth mentioning that this is the first (and only) time that he refers to himself as "I".
{{storylink|Nemesis Part 1}}
[[Image:Wazzpinator.jpg|right|thumb|Why [[Vector Sigma#Beast Era|Oracle]] hate Waspinator?]]

Sadly for Waspinator, the Protohumans he had ruled over grew tired of his presence and forced him to leave the planet and return to Cybertron (and his proper time) under his own power (quite how this could be acheived is unclear). There, his spark was removed and used to power the Vehicon general [[Thrust (BM)|Thrust]].

Influences from his inner spark caused Thrust to save [[Blackarachnia (BW)|Blackarachnia's]] life several times, causing her to believe he carried [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt's]] spark. {{storylink|Revelations Part I: Discovery}} She later tried to bring his original mind back and discovered, to her disgust, that she'd spent all her effort getting Waspinator back. {{storylink|The Catalyst}}

Waspinator remained in the "background" and let Thrust run the show, until [[Cheetor (BW)|Cheetor]] used an [[Spark extractor|extractor]] to remove Waspinator's spark from the body shell. {{storylink|Endgame Pt. II: When Legends Fall}} After Cybertron's [[technorganic]] reformatting (thanks to Optimus Primal, through the cost of his and Megatron's lives) Waspinator returned in his beast mode with Thrust's head, now the size of a standard wasp. He complained to Rattrap about how much he wanted glory and power and never gets what he wants... at which point Rattrap swatted him away. {{storylink|Endgame Pt. III: Seeds of the Future}}

{{note|While the suggestions that Thrust was really Silverbolt turned out to be a red herring, his actions could suggest Waspinator has some feelings for Blackarachnia that are strong enough to impact Vehicon programming - something Silverbolt's spark ''hadn't'' done. Or perhaps, as he notes, he simply wanted to impresses the "chick-bots" in general, and Blackarachnia was the only game in town.}}
After the reformatting of Cybertron, Waspinator came under the command of [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]]. His tiny size and great speed made him an excellent scout and messenger, and he reported to Galvatron that the invading Quintessons had entered a particular canyon that the Predacons had booby-trapped. He seemed very giddy to have a commander who actually found him useful for once. {{storylink|Wreckers: Finale Part II}}

: Waspinator transforms into a large organic wasp. His stinger separates to become a hand-held spring-loaded missile launcher for his robot mode; the bolts are stored on the underside of his insect-wings. His head is on a vertical column that rotates around a horizontal axle; each end has a different head, one "mutant", one "robot". The "mutant" head was used as the base for his CGI model, and thus the norm for his fictional portrayals. The [[Takara]] version of Waspinator uses slightly brighter, more primary colors than the [[Hasbro]] version.
: Available [[Exclusive|exclusively]] at the [[BotCon 2006]] event itself, this two-pack represents Waspinator and Megatron before the events of the ''Beast Wars'' show. "Darksyde Waspinator" is a Basic-sized figure, originally used for ''[[Machine Wars]]'' [[Skywarp (G1)#MW|Skywarp]] and [[Thundercracker (G1)#MW|Thundercracker]], which autotransforms to robot mode from a [[Popular Earth vehicle alternate modes#Dassault Rafale|Dassault Rafale fighter jet]]. (One can surmise, however, that it is meant to represent a Cybertronic design in this case.) His rifle splits into two pieces, which store in the backs of his lower legs.

: This mold was also used to make ''[[Beast Wars II]]'' [[Dirge (BWII)|Dirge]], ''[[Robots in Disguise (franchise)|Robots in Disguise]]'' [[Skyfire (RID)|Skyfire]], and ''[[Robot Masters]]'' [[Wing Stun]].
: This toy is a ridiculously-extensively-painted redeco of the first Waspinator toy to make it almost completely [[show-accuracy|show-accurate]] to Waspinator's cartoon appearance (forgiving mold issues and [[unpaintable plastic]], of course). He came with a DVD of the episode "[[Power Surge]]".
For a brief time, [[Hasbro]]'s official website checklist featured listings for two "Halloween Horrorcon Value Packs" that were to be Wal*Mart [[exclusive]]s... which also likely explains why they were canceled. (Wal*Mart had taken a good half-dozen exclusives and released them more-or-less simultaneously, leading to a huge glut. A lot of other ''Transformers'' exclusives were canceled during the ''[[Universe]]'' era.)

In 2004, several test-shots appeared on eBay in a group, among them the Transmetal Waspinator toy with opaque-salmon wings and lavender insect legs. This, presumably, was to have been the ''Universe'' incarnation of Waspinator, as the other toys in the group line up with the names given for the two Halloween sets. He was to come in a "Vs." two-pack with the presumably-[[Autobot]] character [[Nightprowler]].

==Trivia==
* Waspinator was originally chosen by [[Hasbro]] to be one of the characters killed off for the second season of the ''Beast Wars'' cartoon to help make way for new characters ([[To sell toys|read: product]]). However, story editors [[Bob Forward]] and [[Larry DiTillio]] convinced them to spare Waspinator on the grounds of his popularity with the online fan-base, so [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] and [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]] took the plunge instead.

* Waspinator was originally slated to appear in the very first [[Beast Wars Transformers (game)|''Beast Wars'' video game]], and even had a character model built. However, he was ultimately unused and only appeared in footage taken from the ''Beast Wars'' cartoon.

* Waspinator appears to be the inspiration for [[Buzzer-Bot]] from the ''[[Go-Bots (toyline)|Playskool Go-Bots]]'' line.

* As a side note, Waspinator's original toy contains a high number of [[ball joint|ball]] and [[swivel joint]]s, which more than easily separate. Makes him a little more [[show-accuracy|show-accurate]], after all.

* When Waspinator is hit from behind by a stasis pod ship made by Blackarachnia, a toilet is seen falling from Waspinator's smashed body. Now Waspinator need new waste disposal unit!

* According to Waspinator's profile in ''[[Beast Wars Universe]]'', he likes flying and nectar.

* Waspinator has a yellow tongue in robot mode.

* While Waspinator ''usually'' refers to other characters by nicknames, he is fairly consistent about calling Megatron and Optimus Primal by their real names. ([[Nemesis, Part 1#Quotes|Fairly.]]) He also refers to Inferno by name at least twice, and Tarantulas at least once.

* Waspinator has heard rumors from [[David Kaye]] that Waspinator may make an appearance in ''[[Transformers Animated (cartoon)|Transformers Animated]]''. Maybe Universe not hate Waspinator after all!
