[[Image:AlphaTrion.jpg|right|thumbnail|300px|If Alpha Trion was a Decepticon, you KNOW he would stroke his beard while contemplating conquest. You know it.]]

'''Alpha Trion''' is one of the oldest living Autobots. Originally going by the name '''A3''', he helped lead the enslaved Cybertronians in their rebellion against their cruel masters, the [[Quintesson]]s. As a result, he was instrumental in first establishing [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]] as an independent planet.

On top of this, he is also responsible for creating [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and [[Elita One]]!

==Fiction==
===Animated continuity===
====Generation 1 cartoon====
'''Voice Actor:''' ''[[John Stephenson]], [[Corey Burton]] ([[War Dawn]]), [[Tony Pope]] ([[Forever is a Long Time Coming]]) (US), [[Osamu Saka]] (Japan)''

[[Image:YoungA3.jpg|left|thumbnail|Alpha Trion's rugged mustache, circa 11,000,000 BC]]

Millions of years ago, a mechanoid named '''A3''' was part of the robot rebellion against the [[Quintesson]]s on a [[Cybertron (planet) |factory world]], creating a device called the [[Coda Remote]] that would stop their [[Dark Guardian]]s. He was briefly pulled into the year 2006, but was soon put back to fufill his role in Cybertronian history.

Years later, he would be given the [[Matrix of Leadership]] by a dying Autobot leader. It would sit in his possession, unused, until the coming of the next Autobot leader.

[[Image:Matrix_5faces4_7.jpg|thumb|right|... wait, he doesn't look THIS old when he fixes Orion Pax. Glitch!]]

In the meanwhile, Alpha Trion developed plans to rebuild Autobots to better combat the Decepticon menace.

The next Autobot leader would actually come to ''him'' when a group of time-travellers lugged a dying youth named '''Orion Pax''' to his repair center. Reluctant at first, Alpha Trion sensed a strong spirit in Orion Pax, and decided to rebuild him entirely... into [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. When Prime asked if Alpha Trion could rebuild his girlfriend Ariel as well, Alpha Trion agreed, and mused that Elita One would be a good name for a female warrior.

When next seen - millions of years later - Alpha Trion was engaged in a holographic communication with Elita One, where he (somewhat randomly) reminded her to not use her time-stopping power, for its use would likely kill her. When she used this power to save her beloved Optimus Prime, the Autobot leader tracked Alpha Trion to his secret base. Alpha Trion repaired her to the best of his ability, but revealed to Optimus Prime that only '''he''' could save Elita by interfacing to her with his power filter. An astonished Optimus Prime stated that only his CREATOR could know that!

''(Optimus Prime had apparently forgotten that Alpha Trion '''was''' his creator, although he seemed to know that Alpha Trion created Elita One, making a knowing comment when Elita said that Alpha Trion was like a father to her. Which is really kind of creepy when you think about it.)''

Alpha Trion later sacrificed his body in order to to activate [[Vector Sigma]] long enough to activate the newly created [[Aerialbot (G1)|Aerialbots]].

After this, Alpha Trion's appeared mostly as a spirit-guide, and has the peculiar honor of residing both within Vector Sigma ''and'' the Matrix of Leadership.

====Headmasters anime====
[[Image:AlphaTrionGhost.jpg|left|thumbnail|Alpha Trion's Spooooooky Ghost]]

{{-}}

====Wreckers====
Alpha Trion was seemingly resurrected and/or reformatted as a lion by the Oracle to guide [[Primal Prime]] in much the same way as he aided many previous Autobot leaders (his new form could have been made as a repaint of [[Snarl (BM)|Beast Machines Snarl]], but was not released).

===Dreamwave Comics===
*'''Alpha Trion''' ''(Voyager 2007)''

:After some twenty plus years since the original series was introduced, Alpha Trion finally gets a figure - A BotCon exclusive retooling of [[Vector Prime]], with an all new (though somewhat scrunched-up) head sculpt. It is further redecoed in Purple, Burgandy, and off-white with a golden redeco of Vector Prime's Universal Cyber Key. It also comes with a similarly redecoed Safeguard-base Mini-Con, whose name has not yet been released.

==Trivia==
* Interestingly, Alpha Trion is one of the very few Transformers to show signs of aging and hair growth.
* According to a note in Japan's Comic BomBom magazine, A3 was the first successful Cybertronian, A1 and A2 being failures. However, the presence of Cybertronians within the Matrix of Leadership older than Alpha Trion (as seen in The Return of Optimus Prime) makes the actual canonicity of this questionable.

'''Menasor''' is filled with rage. He finds his planet's laws stifling and stupid, and believes his people are destined for greater things than merely building with no seeming goal in mind other than to continue building. On top of that, being one of the younger Gigantions, he feels that he's simply not given the respect he deserves from [[Metroplex (Cybertron)|Metroplex]] and the others. As such, he's joined up with [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]] and his [[Decepticon]]s, who have promised much to the disillusioned worker.

Menasor is always accompanied by his [[Mini-Con]] partner [[Heavy Load (Cybertron)|Heavy Load]], who doesn't seem to share Menasor's anger, and sometimes tries to set the rebellious machine straight.

: Menasor transforms into a Cybertronic (Gigantian?) excavation machine. He has an "assault" vehicle mode that widens the spce between his drills and separates the "cowcatcher" halves on his front so his partner [[Mini-Con]] [[Heavy Load (Cybertron)|Heavy Load]] can fit in, expanding the blade's width. In robot mode, Menasor's chest panel flips down to reveal a space for Heavy Load to fit in his robot mode. The panel also has a double-barrled flip-down (non-firing) blaster. He also has an alternate "work" robot mode, which widens his stance and reverses the direction of his knees.

: Menasor's drill-arm gimmicks are fully functional in all modes. Placing a Mini-Con on the [[Powerlinx]] plug on his right drill unlocks the spring-activated grippers to the side, plus unlocks the drill, which can extend by pushing the Mini-Con forward. The left drill spins through a gear-wheel mechanism on its underside, while plugging a [[Cyber Planet Key]] to its Key jack activates electornic lights and sounds. He comes with a silver-bordered Gigantion-style Cyber Planet Key with the [[Cyber Key Codes|Key Code]] "'''us4r'''" [[tampograph]]ed on the back.

: In Japan, Menasor was only available through [[e-Hobby]]'s online ordering service, in [[Hasbro]] packaging, in October of 2006... ten months after ''Galaxy Force'' stopped in Japan.
* Menasor's vehicle mode actually connects together better than shown in the stock photos (the official instructions and show model do not even acknowledge that the connectors exist). The plugs on the backs of his elbows fit into the sockets on his feet; these are supposed to connect together in vehicle mode.They do so fairly well, but must be disconnected for Menasor's Heavy-Load-added assult-vehicle mode. It actually comes packed like this, though there's no mention of it anywhere.

* Like the other Gigantions, Menasor's "work" robot mode is only seen in the [[Cybertron (cartoon)|''Cybertron'' cartoon]] as a halfway point in his vehcile-to-robot stock footage transformation sequence.
:''Megatron is a [[Predacon]] and a [[Vehicon]] in the [[Beast Era]] portion of the [[Generation 1]] [[continuity family]].''

[[Image:Megatronbw.jpg|right|thumb|250px|Best. Megatron. Ever. Yeeeessssss...]]

'''Megatron''' has one goal -- restoring glory and power to the Predacon race, with himself at the helm. What distinguishes Megatron from the countless others who share this goal at various volumes is his chutzpah. He is willing to risk everything -- time, space, himself -- if need be.

Megatron is skillful at orchestrating vast schemes by manipulating others into doing them for him -- an idle suggestion here, a conspicuously-planted object of interest there. He knows his enemies inside and out and exactly how to provoke them. He has no friends, only pawns. Because of this attitude, this superiority complex, he despises working with the very troops he needs to carry out his plans. His hubris does not make him very popular, and so he must rely on power and fear to rule them.

Megatron is a gambler and can sometimes be a ham. (His manner of saying "Yesss..." is practically vaudevillian.) He has a twisted sense of humor and an over-developed sense of drama which rule everything he conceives, both long and short term. When he destroys you, he wants you to know that it was he who did this, and just how badly you were had. This is his greatest weakness. Like a Bond villain, he'll gladly boast to the hero at length about how smart and clever he was, giving his victim time to formulate a counterattack. He often sabotages himself by neglecting the quick and easy solutions for the bigger, meaner, and more complex.

Prior to the signing of the [[Pax Cybertronia]], Megatron was a field commander in the Predacon army, where he learned much about strategy and tactics. Upon ratification of peace with the [[Maximal Imperium]] most Predacons laid down their arms. Megatron refused and went rogue.

On planet [[Cybertron (planet)|Cybertron]], Megatron once disagreed with [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]] over opinions on galactic conquest, and engaged him in battle over it. At the time, Megatron momentarily let his guard down, and was defeated. Galvatron declared "Your era is over, Megatron!"(Got that one wrong, didn't he)

Later, Megatron noted that while Galvatron was ambitious, he cared for his underlings - and although he was loathe to admit it, he acknowledged that Galvatron probably had all the regal bearing of a new [[Emperor of Destruction]]. {{storylink|Beast Wars II catalog}}

====Dreamwave comics continuity====
After stealing the [[Golden Disk]] ''(wrongly drawn as the [[Alien Disk]])'', Megatron broke into [[Vector Sigma]] along with [[Dinobot (BW)|Dinobot]] and reviewed historical files on many of the Autobots and Decepticons from the [[Generation 1]] era. He told Dinobot to refer to him henceforth as Megatron. {{storylink|Transformers: More Than Meets the Eye #8}}
[[Image:Megatronbwsuit.jpg|thumb|150px|Megatron's technicolor dreamcoat.]]
On Cybertron, Megatron wore removeable transformable armor, which transformed into a missile-launching armored platform, over his basic bodyframe (which transforms into a hovertank). This quickly-discarded outer shell was possibly used to comply with the ratification of the [[Pax Cybertronia]], which required Predacons to lay down their arms. A Predacon field commander before the peace, Megatron refused to comply with these new regulations and struck out on his own to destroy the [[Maximal Imperium]].

With some [[Cryotek|help]] from [[Divebomb (G1)|various sources]], he assembled a crew of ragtag criminals and miscreants for the purpose of stealing the Golden Disk and using it to find [[Earth]]. Succeeding in stealing the disk, he, [[Dinobot (BW)|his lieutenant]], and [[Scorponok (BW)|another accomplice]] fought their way out of the [[Archives]], eliminating [[Unit 1|one guard]] and dodging [[Tigatron|another]]. They were swiftly picked up by the ''[[Darksyde]]'', a ship stolen by the rest of their crew.

Megatron instructed [[Tarantulas]] to study the disk for the coordinates of Earth while the ''Darkside'' battled its several pursuers. Although they were followed by the Maximal ships [[Axalon (BW)|''Axalon'']] and the ''[[Chromia 10]]'', the ''Darksyde''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s mission was also aided by a third ship crewed by the Predacon agents [[Laserbeak (G1)|Laserbeak]] and [[Buzzsaw (G1)|Buzzsaw]]. Though the ''Chromia 10'' and the Predacon ship were destroyed, the ''Darksyde'' was still followed by the ''Axalon''. Megatron removed his transformable armor and patched a video feed through to the ''Axalon'''s captain, [[Optimus Primal]]. Declaring himself the leader of the Predacons, Megatron opened a [[transwarp]] portal through which both ships travelled. {{storylink|Dawn of Future's Past}}
After stealing the Maximal relic, the [[Golden Disk]], and [[Darksyde|a ship]], he and his crew were followed through a [[transwarp]] portal by the [[Axalon (BW)|''Axalon'']]. After crashing on a planet that was supposed to be [[Earth]], yet seemingly wasn't, both the Maximals and the Predacons took organic beast forms to protect themselves against the massive amount of Energon radiation. Megatron now transformed into a purple ''Tyrannosaurus rex''.

Dinobot chastised Megatron, accusing him of leading the Predacons to the wrong planet and challenged Megatron for leadership of the Predacons. Megatron simply ignored the challenge and had Scorponok dispose of him. {{storylink|Beast Wars, Part 1}}

Despite the loss of a formidable crony, Megatron positioned himself on the new world and the "Beast Wars" began. Being on a world filled with Energon allowed [[Terrorsaur (BW)|Terrorsaur]] to find a superhorde, and power himself to great levels. With this power, Terrorsaur was able to demolish Megatron in battle and take over the Predacons. However, through the Maximals' actions, the superhorde was destroyed. Terrorsaur was eventually ridden of his newfound power and returned to an angered Megatron, who was rebuilt by [[Scorponok (BW)|Scorponok]]. {{storylink|Power Surge}}

[[Image:Megatronbwtrex.jpg|150px|thumb|Ah, today is a beautiful day to be out stomping on things!]]
Again, Terrorsaur tried to usurp Megatron, this time using an apparently-turned [[Rattrap]], who used a device to paralyze Megatron. The Predacons argued over who would be leader, but agreed to put Rattrap and Megatron away for the time being. Megatron was able to easily escape using his secret vioce commands, leaving Rattrap to his fate. Revealing himself to have escaped, Megatron allowed Terrorsaur to lead the Predacons in battle with the Maximals. Terrorsaur failed miserably, showing his ineptitude to the Predacons, which was Megatron's plan all along. {{storylink|Double Jeopardy}}

Megatron later formulated a plan to get off Earth. First, he had the other Predacons act dissatisfied with his leadership, causing a battle that apaprently destroyed the Predacons, using a Maximal spy camera that he was aware of to play out the trick. Then, the Maximals scavenged the ''Darksyde'' for parts to repair the ''Axalon''<nowiki>'</nowiki>s stardrive. Dinobot discovered the deception and rushed to warn the leaving Maximals. In the scuffle, Megatron sneaked aboard. In the ''Axalon'', he managed to knock out every Maximal on the ship but Rattrap, who he started crushing to death. An angered [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] woke up and threw Megatron off the ''Axalon''. However, Megatron's tail weapon was stuck in the console, causing the ''Axalon'' to crash. Again. {{storylink|Victory (Beast Wars episode)|Victory}}

Later, Megatron caught wind of the return of the [[Vok]] and called a ceasefire between the two factions, realising he had more important things to worry about. The Vok did indeed return, and planned to destroy the planet the Transformers were on with their massive [[Planet Buster]] (cleverly disguised as the [[Moon (moon)|Moon]]). Optimus Primal managed to stop the planet buster after flying close to it within a modified stasis pod. Megatron added a little surprise for Primal within the pod, though; locking the door so that Primal could not escape and was destroyed when the planet buster exploded. {{storylink|Other Voices}}

The [[quantum surge]] from the exploding planet buster bathed Megatron in quantum energies, upgrading him into a [[transmetal]]. Megatron quickly rallied his forces and attempted an all-out attack on the leader-less Maximals. Megatron and the Predacons took the upperhand in battle until a transmetal Optimus Primal (brought back online by [[Rhinox]]) saved the day. {{storylink|Coming of the Fuzors, Part 1}}

With both factions now aware that the planet they were stranded on was really prehistoric [[Earth]], Megatron was free to put his full plan into motion. Locating the crashed [[Ark]], Megatron attempted to alter history by assassinating the unconscious [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]]. By doing so, he would presumably ensure the defeat of the [[Autobot]]s and thus the victory of the [[Decepticon]]s and Predacons. {{storylink|The Agenda, Part 3}}

The Maximals managed to save Prime's life by having [[Teletraan-1]] repair his body while Optimus Primal kept his spark within his own structure, transforming his body into a more powerful form. The Maximals defeated Megatron and returned Prime's spark to its proper place. {{storylink|Optimal Situation}}

[[Image:Megatrontm2render.jpg|left|thumb|250px|Two Megatrons for the price of one.]]

Megatron was not to be outdone. He managed to sneak inside the Ark (which was now the new Maximal base) and take the spark of the original Megatron, seeking to replicate the effect Optimus Prime's spark had on Primal's body. He placed his namesake's spark within his body, transforming himself into a powerful dragon. With this newfound body, Megatron was able to give Optimus Primal a sound beating, until chased away by the entire Maimal group. {{Storylink|Master Blaster}}

Megatron's next evil scheme involved the legendary Decepticon battleship, the [[Nemesis (G1)|Nemesis]]. After finding the ship deep beneath the ocean, Megatron intended to pilot it back to the future and lay waste to the Maximals on Cybertron. {{storylink|Nemesis, Part 1}} First, however, he planned to annihilate the Ark on prehistoric Earth. Primal infiltrated the Nemesis and kept Megatron busy until Rhinox could fly a shuttlecraft through the bridge and take the Predacon out. The Nemesis crashed a second time and thus preserved history.

After returning the original Megatron's spark to its proper body, the Maximals headed back to Cybertron with the incarcerated Megatron shackled to the outside of their ship. {{Storylink|Nemesis, Part 2}}
Taking advantage of the [[Blasty Zone]] as a means of time travel (and apparently size-enhancer), Megatron journeyed to a point in history where the orignal Megatron had gone missing, leaving the [[Decepticon]]s without a leader. "Beast Megatron" took command of the Decepticons, leading them on a quest to collect a powerful element, [[solitarium]], from within the Earth. Beast Megatron's plans were quickly thwarted by [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]] and a troop of time-displaced Autobots and Maximals, including [[Star Saber (G1)|Star Saber]], [[Victory Leo]], [[Leo Prime]] and Beast Megatron's arch nemesis, [[Optimus Primal]].

Beast Megatron later discovered a large deposit of solitarium beneath [[New York City]], and along with [[Starscream (G1)|Starscream]], [[Smokesniper]], [[Gigant Bomb]] and [[Wingstun]], laid waste to the Big Apple. The Autobots, accompanied by [[Reverse Convoy]], arrived and dealt with Beast Megatron's forces quickly. However, Reverse Convoy revealed himself to be the original Megatron in disguise and betrayed them. Now going by the name [[Megatron (G1)#Robot Masters (Japan-only)|Rebirth Megatron]], he teamed up with Beast Megatron and the pair made trouble for the Autobot commanders. However, the Autobots were able to defeat the two Megatrons, sending the villains into retreat.

[[Image:Megatron for life.jpg|right|thumb|Whaddya mean, 'Triumph of the Will'?]]Breaking free from his constraints on the Autobot shuttle while it travelled through transwarp space, Megatron arrived back home on Cybertron well before the Maximals did. Using technology of his own devising and of [[Cryotek]]'s, he took over the entire planet, and stored the [[spark]] of every last inhabitant under his citadel.

When the Maximals arrived in their shuttle, they found the planet empty aside from countless [[Vehicon|mindless drones]] controlled by Megatron. Megatron's drones immediately bombarded the Maximals with [[devolving gas]] to revert their powerful [[Transmetal]] bodies to normal beast mode bodies, and they were also affected by a [[transformation lock]] virus which Megatron had used to help him conquer the planet in the first place.

Despite his best efforts, the Maximals escaped, and learned to transform again after Primal used the [[Oracle]]'s power to [[reformatting|reformat]] them. They began making short work of his Vehicons, so he removed three sparks from his collection to create [[Vehicon general]]s which could think on their feet in battle. For the generals he chose sparks of Transformers that the Maximals already knew, such that if they ever discovered the sparks' identities, they would be reluctant to destroy them: [[Silverbolt (Fuzor)|Silverbolt]] became [[Jetstorm (BM)|Jetstorm]], [[Rhinox (BW)|Rhinox]] became [[Tankor]], and [[Waspinator]] became [[Thrust (BM)|Thrust]].

Ultimately, Megatron succeeded in capturing the sparks of all the Maximals, leaving just Optimus Primal and himself as the only two Transformers on the entire planet. At the end of a fierce one-on-one fight, in which Megatron wore a copy of the powerful Optimal Optimus body, Megatron began consuming his amassed sparks, growing ever more powerful. However, when he attempted to use the [[Key to Vector Sigma]] to transform the planet's [[organic core]] into [[technomatter]], Primal managed to dislodge them both. They plummeted into the planet's goopy core and, somehow, Primal was able to reformat the entire planet, destroying himself and Megatron completely, but freeing all the lost sparks to repopulate their newly redecorated planet.

====''Universe''====
When [[Optimus Primal (BW)|Optimus Primal]]'s spark is retrieved from the core of [[Cybertron]] to protect the multiverse, this action freed Megatron's spark as well. The reborn Megatron returned to the ranks of the Predacons, but this time, Optimus Primal found himself in an uneasy alliance with him against Unicron. Megatron travelled with his old nemesis from universe to universe, wherever the growing multiversal conflict had spread. But now with Unicron disappeared into the [[Unicron Singularity]], it remains to be seen whether Megatron's insane ambition will resurface.

Prior to the Universe Conflict an alternate dimension's Megatron was killed by a [[Razorclaw (Universe)|Tigerhawk]] who was corrupted by the Vok. Yet another dimension's Megatron was killed by it's realities [[Obsidian (Universe)|Obsidian]] and [[Tankor (Universe Decepticon)|Tankor]]. All three Megatron-murderers were eventualy promoted to the rank of [[Unicron's General]]. It seems that killing Megatron may be part of Unicron's criteria for choosing a General.
: Beast Megatron is a simplied version of the 1996 Ultra ''Beast Wars'' Megatron. Much smaller, it had a very similar transformation and had a sculpt resembling the television series CGI model, but a paint scheme similar to the original toy. he also came with a small laser rifle.
[[Image:BWRConcept35.jpg|right|170px|thumb|TM2 Megatron's control art. Look! Spark figure! Painful amounts of detail!]]

*Originally, ''Transmetal 2'' Megatron, along with [[Optimus_Primal|Optimal Optimus]] and [[Tigerhawk_(BW)|Tigerhawk]] were to have small driver-like figures sitting on control chairs located in cockpits on their bodies. These drivers were meant to represent their sparks. But [[Hasbro]] then later realized that kids might confuse these spark representations as drivers controlling the robots, so they were abandoned, but the cockpits remain.
: However, the spark pilot was eventually used in the japanese release of [[Cryotek]].

*The Japanese dub of Beast Wars chose to interject humor at every available opportunity. Due to this, Megatron's personality and character were taken on a complete U-turn. Instead of being a smooth and charismatic leader, he was a screaming maniac and a bumbling oaf. His most notable character-trait in Japan was that whenever he was fired-upon or startled he would let-out a high-pitched shriek like a '''little girl'''.''

*Megatron's initial basic Beast Wars toy is a [[retool]] of [[Iguanus (BW)|Iguanus]] with new alligator and robot heads, and no frill. The screw hole for the frill bracket remains. Both toys were released at roughly the same time.

:''Magmatron is a [[Predacon]] and a [[Dinobot]] in the [[Beast Wars]] and [[Beast Machines]] portions of the [[Generation 1]] continuity''

[[Image:Magmatronbm.jpg|right|thumb|300px|Part robot, part 3 different prehistoric animals, and he can ''dance''.]]

As befits a decorated Warrior-General '''Magmatron''' is capable of both elegant, reasoned judgement and wild, vicious action. Once he has set his sights on a goal his drive to achieve it is unwavering and he will accept nothing less than total victory. Despite these atributes, and prodigious physical power, Magmatron's greatest advantage often lies in his charismatic leadership. Reveared and admired by his soldiers, Magmatron fits the title "[[Emperor of Destruction]]" better than most.

On the surface Magmatron seems to have much in common with [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]]. Both are schemers and planners, willing to subvert the established Predacon power structure to suit their plans and ultimate ambition for power. Their key difference lies in their relationships to that power structure. Megatron is at heart a rebel, working outside existing society. Magmatron, on the other hand, values his position of power and eminence in the current Predacon hierarchy, and though he schemes to someday stand at the top of that body, he is unwilling to risk his current high-standings any more than he must even to achieve those future goals.

Magmatron possesses a mitotic [[spark]] which allows him to seperate into three dinosaur forms called '''Landsaur''', '''Seasaur''', and '''Skysaur'''.

==Fiction==

After the defeat of [[Galvatron (BWII)|Galvatron]], Magmatron became the new [[Predacon]] [[Emperor of Destruction]]. A loyal and effective servent to the cause of Predacon equality on [[Cybertron]], Magmatron was perfectly suited for the job. He had a long-standing rivalry with [[Big Convoy]], though there was a mutual respect between the two enemies.

On board his ship the [[Dinosaur]], he tracked Big Convoy and his [[Maximal]] recruits to the planet [[Gaia]] where he learned of the [[Angolmois]] capsules that had been launched from the self-destructing [[Nemesis (BWII)|Nemesis]]. Magmatron immediately set a course to track them down, desiring their incredible power. Competing with Big Convoy, Magmatron secured numerous capsules for the Predacons.

However, he did not keep them long. The [[Blentron]]s, a trio of super-powerful and freakish Transformers, stole the capsules from both factions. As it turned out, the Angolmois energy was really the lifeforce of [[Unicron]]. Offering up Galvatron's corpse as a new body, the Blentrons released the Angolmois energy and Unicron was reborn.

Magmatron immediately challenged the Chaos Bringer but was quickly vanquished into a wormhole, leaving his crew of Predacons leaderless and rather ineffective. Magmatron escaped the wormhole toward the end of the Unicron battle, after Unicron had possessed Vector Sigma, and willingly fought side-by-side with Big Convoy and the Maximals to stop their mutual enemy.

After a lengthy battle, Unicron was defeated and driven from Vector Sigma by Big Convoy's Matrix Buster. Putting aside their rivalry, Big Convoy and Magmatron formed an alliance. The Maximals and Predacons then worked side-by-side and hand-in-hand to rebuild their ravaged planet.

===''Beast Wars Neo'' manga===
Magmatron and all his forces were changed into Transformers from actual animals by the power of the [[Angolmois]] capsules. Magmatron and [[Big Convoy]] battled across the cosmos, until Magmatron was finally felled by the might of [[Unicron]]. In his dying moments, he repented of his wrong-doings, and indeed, Big Convoy struck the blow that finished Unicron once and for all with Magmatron's own sword.

===''Universe: The Wreckers'' comics===

Magmatron had become the leader of the new Dinobots, and led them to a mission given to them by the [[Oracle]]. The mission was a trap, and Magmatron and his Dinobots were attacked by the [[Trans-Organic]]s.

===IDW Beast Wars comics===
[[Image:Magmatron cybertronian.jpg|thumb|Apparently, one of his vehicle modes has tentacles... What the Hell could he possibly turn into?]]

Magmatron is a schemer, and forms an elegant and tightly-knit plan to travel backwards in time to prehistoric [[Earth]] and reprogram all of the remaining [[protoform]] [[Maximal]]s into [[Predacon (BW)|Predacons]].

Tired of waiting for the [[Tripredacus Council]] to act, Magmatron recruited a small band of disenchanted warriors. Keeping his plans secret until the last moment, he revealed that the Council has ordered him to pick up where their previous agent failed: capture the rogue [[Megatron (BW)|Megatron]].

Chronally displacing his crew, so that they cannot be detected by the beast warriors who are already there, they set to work. He ordered [[Razorbeast]] to begin activating the [[stasis pod]]s while [[Spittor]], [[Manterror]], [[Transquito]], and [[Iguanus (BW)|Iguanus]] reported on their progress. They witnessed the birth of three Predacons, but Spittor was greeted by the Maximal [[Polar Claw]]. More Maximals were spotted, revealing Razorbeast as a spy. The red warthog escaped into the wilderness. {{storylink|The Gathering, Part 1}}

Once his new army was assembled, Magmatron ordered them to hunt down the Maximals. [[Drill Bit (BW)|Drill Bit]] and Spittor, however, accompanied Magmatron on his personal quest to find Razobeast. He located the spy and quickly gained the upper hand with his three dinosaur modes. But Razorbeast pulled a fast one, and buried the Predacon leader beneath a mountainside. Magmatron soon recouped his losses though, by recovering the [[spark]] of Tripredacus agent, [[Ravage]]. {{storylink|The Gathering, Part 2}}

Iguanus, having located a blank protoform, assisted Magmatron with rebirthing Ravage in a new, [[Transmetal 2]] body. After issuing seek-and-destroy orders to his new lieutenant, Magmatron set forth on his next mission. He located Megatron, and the two engaged. Megatron insisted that Magmatron was foolish for coming after him alone, like Ravage, but Magmatron was not alone. Iguanus and Drill Bit ambushed Megatron.

With the [[transwarp shunt]] set up and ready to send Megatron into the hands of the Council, it was with reluctance that Mamatron again did battle. This time, an intruding [[Grimlock (G1)|Grimlock]] challenged the Predacon schemer. A tough fight, Magmatron's triple beast modes eventually won out. Grimlock was enough of a distraction, however, to let Razorbeast and [[Optimus Minor]] enter his camp. Magmatron was thwarted by Razorbeast in hand-to-hand combat. As the Predacon lunged toward Minor, who is sitting upon the unconscious Megatron, the monkey activated a chronal displacement device. This sent Megatron back into his own chronal place, making Magmatron stumble onto the transwarp shunt. Razorbeast activated it, sending the warlord back to Cyberton, unaccomplished. {{storylink|The Gathering, Part 4}}

[[Image:Autobot symbol.png|thumb|250px|If you don't recognize this symbol, what are you doing here?]]
The '''Autobots''' (usually called '''Cybertrons''' in Japanese sources) are one of the primary factions in the Transformers mythos. They often find themselves defending other species against the [[Decepticon]]s and upholding justice.

They are considered "the good guys" in most Transformers stories.

A heroic, honorable group, they are comprised mostly of generic, domestic vehicles such as cars, trucks, or rescue vehicles. This is not ''always'' the case, however, as their ranks certainly contain neer-do-wells, malcontents, and unsavory types, plus the neccessities of war mean there are many with more combat-oriented alternate forms.

==Generation 1==
Throughout the various versions of Generation 1, the Autobots and [[Decepticon]]s are the two rival factions that try to control Cybertron. Oddly, their motives are the same: bring Cybertron to a golden age of prosperity. However, the Decepticons believe this means subjegation and military power, while the Autobots think that wisdom and cultural advancement are the way to go.

Dispite being the good guys, they didn't always win every battle or even control Cybertron. In [[The Transformers: The Movie|the movie]], the Decepticons went so far as to force the Autobots onto the planet's twin moons, all but eliminating their influence. If it hadn't been for Unicron, they may even have lost.

Throughout the Unicron Trilogy, the Autobots switched motives after each major conflict. At first, they were attempting to liberate smaller robots, called [[Mini-Con]]s, from the tyrannical control of [[Megatron (Armada)|Megatron]], who saw them as tools to be used and disposed of when no longer needed. The Autobots followed the Mini-Con's ship to Earth, where they crashed and eventually continued their battle against the Deceptions (some two-million years later. Geez, Megs can hold a grudge).

These two sides would unite to fight the Chaos Bringer, [[Unicron]], when he threatened to devour Cybertron. With Megatron sacrificing himself to save the rest of the Universe, Unicron shut down and was destroyed. The remaining Transformers united as the Autobots, following Megatron's order to assist them in rebuilding Cybertron.

====Energon====

Megatron's final orders to his troops still stood: work with the Autobots. The Decepticons maintained a degree of autonomy, still wearing the faction sigil and often taking military/defensive positions in the growing number of energon-mining colonies, but they were ultimately answerable to Optimus Prime and the Autobots. There were, of course, dissenters, most of which were captured and imprisoned. For a decade, Autobot and Decepticon worked side-by-side in a somewhat stable truce.

Both sides found themselves the target of attacks from Unicron again; hordes of Terrorcon drones, sent by Alpha Quintesson to steal energon ore with which to revive the now-shattered husk of Unicron. What the alien did not count on was that Megatron's spark had survived within the remains, and was siphoning energon from Unicron's body. Soon the Decepticon leader had revived himself in a new form, drove off Alpha Quintesson, and along with an elite cadre of soldiers and a seemingly inexhaustible supply of mindless Terrorcon drones, began his new plans for conquest.

When news of Megatron's return reached Cybertron, hundreds of Decepticons rose up and rebelled, eager to get back to conquering. But having been joined to Unicon for so long apparently had given Megatron a taste of godhood; he had no more interest in amassing a galaxy-spanning army of troops. Countless Decepticons died in the resulting battles, with Megatron more than willing to sacrifice them without a thought to attain ultimate power for himself. As the "Powerlinx Battles" -as they came to be called- came to their climax, Megatron found that his actions and thoughts were being influenced and controlled by the dark spark of Unicron. Unwilling to let Unicron stand in his way, Megatron ultimately sacrificed himself (again) and seemingly destroyed Unicron's spark by plunging himself into a newly-formed energon sun created by Primus.

====Cybertron====

Another ten years after Energon, the Energon sun created by Primus was gone, collapsed into the [[Unicron Singularity]], a giant black hole threatening to devour all of existance. In death, Unicron's power to destroy his only oppostion - Primus - was greater than ever. The Autobots searched for a method of destroying the Black Hole and found a single answer; the Omega Lock, a powerful artifact linked to the Spark of Primus. With it, the Universe could be saved... or destroyed. Seeing an opportunity to rebuild existance in his own image, Megatron sought out the Omega Lock and the Cyber Planet Keys.

As the two sides battled for the Keys, the Autobots would eventually find all four and use them to revive Primus, but in doing so caused a massive earthquake that began shattering the planet around them.

Or so they thought.

Primus was emerging from Cybertron, awakened from the body he sculpted into a world for his creation. When informed of Unicron's destruction, he was infuriated to find that the universe was out of balance because of a severe lack of evil. Until Starscream attacked his weakened form, due to the smaller robot stealing a piece of his spark and becoming an even equally huge monster, but was quickly dispatched by his creator. Defeated, Starscream flew off, leaving the Autobots to seal the Black Hole. Once this was accomplished, Galvatron attempted an escape from his fire dimention, but by combining Vector Prime's sword with the Omega Lock, the portal was sealed, the the Autobots returned home in peace.

The remaining Decepticons joined the Autobots, save for 4 who left Earth to start the New Decepticon Army. Their ship made it to Mars before being caught in the gravity well, and one of them may have attacked the [[Transformers (2007)|Mars Beagle II rover]].

''('''Note:''' in Japan, during [[Transformers 2010]], the Cybertrons who transformed into automobiles were referred as a subgroup of the faction called "Autobots".)''
====Generation 1 cartoon====

====Wreckers====

===Dreamwave Comics===

==Trivia==
*Recently, shots of a retooling and redeco of Vector Prime have shown up, listed as "Alpha Trion." Whether this will become a convention exclusive is yet to be seen.
I've noticed that there is some argument about the accuracy of Starscream's toy. Some thing that the vehicle mode is accurate, while others think not. Judging from the toy gallery on Seibertron.com, it looks very accurate except for the blasters formed from his hands, which are severly oversized compared to both the movie model and the toy itself. Other than this though, the majority of the figure seems to be pretty accurate.

:If you know anything about fighters, then you'll know its an appallingly bad representation of an F-22 Raptor (has details closer to a YF-22, if I recall correctly). Hasbro/Takara have unfortunately produced better F-22-type planes in the past with Energon Starscream, and the cancelled NATF swing-wing version of the fighter with G2 Hooligan. I'm not really surprised that most Transformers fans can't tell the difference, as they generally aren't that well-versed in military hardware. --[[User:FFN|FFN]] 23:32, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
::Yeah, we tend to be more focused on consumer goods. --[[User:Andrusi|Andrusi]] 02:42, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

::To be perfectly honest, I will agree that it fits closer to the submodel than the main fighter, but at the same time I was looking at the two pictures side-by-side. In cases such as this, color is irrelevent considering Gen 1 Starscream was originally considered a highly unlikely paint-job for an F-15... until they adopted it. Admittedly, the arms and undercarriage do make the toy itself look less like the actual jet than the movie model, but they are also grossly different; Starscream's triple guns on his hands in the movie are MUCH smaller, and had to be enlarged for the toy to meet safety regulations. And while I do not exactly have a degree in the field, I do like to study up on military hardware, especially jets, tanks, and some of the newer guns (the XM-8 in particular). I was kind of hoping they'd go with the newer F-35B, but I think it was still in the experimental stage when the movie was being scripted. [[User:Dracokanji|Dracokanji]] 03:39, 4 May 2007 (UTC)
:::G1 Starscream's own hull colour is very similar to the grey they used on F-15s of the 80s. I don't recall that the USAF used any of G1 Starscream's decos, did they? As I explained on [[Talk:Starscream (G1)|G1 Starscream's talk page]], Classics Starscream's colour scheme was made up from photos of the F-15 prototype that the Air Force doctored... for some reason. Real one was light blue with rather bright orange.

:::The F-35 is a piece of overpriced crap compared to the Raptor. --[[User:FFN|FFN]] 08:03, 4 May 2007 (UTC)

::::And you're SURE these photos are doctored, and they don't just have a few or even a single fighter in that color scheme (especially since it was a prototype)? I might add that while not a seperate series, G2 Starscream had a more salmon/coral and bluish color scheme than G1 did. While the detailing isn't exactly the same, the colors are fairly close. I will also clairify that I didn't mean the Air Force didn't adopt the color scheme BECAUSE of G1, but they just happened to use a similar paint scheme at one time.<div id="wikia-credits"><br /><br /><small>From [http://transformers.wikia.com Teletraan I: The Transformers Wiki], a [http://www.wikia.com Wikia] wiki.</small></div>

:In robot mode he resembles previous Optimus characters - his angular chest windows are reminiscent of ''[[Cybertron (franchise)|Cybertron]]'' [[Optimus Prime (Armada)|Optimus Prime]], while his near animalistic limbs and colour scheme are evocative of ''[[Beast Wars]]'' [[Optimus Primal]]. He has excellent articulation due to his many ball joints, and is armed with a rifle. The flame attachment can fit onto the end of the gun barrel.

*'''Optimus Prime''' (Leader, 2007)
:''Japanese ID number:'' '''MA-01'''

[[Image:MovieLeader_OptimusPrime_toy.jpg|right|thumb|350px| Y'think Prime got a makeover, we have it on good authority that Movie [[Roller]] is a kicked-out low-rider with a jammin' sound system and neon-purple undercarriage lighting. ]]

: The largest Movie Optimus Prime toy, Leader Class Optimus Prime features the most accurate representation yet of the CGI design's complex transformation. He transforms into a heavily-customised 2006 Peterbilt 379 Extended Hood truck, and unusually for a mainline figure, he has rubber tires on all his wheels. His Ion Blaster weapon is stored in the rear of the truck's bunk, exposed like an engine block. Though Optimus has no trailer, he has hole where the fifth wheel (known among fans as a 'hitch') is sculpted in the rear of the truck, should owners find a suitable trailer to use. Due to [[For safety reasons|safety reasons]], the tips of his long smokestacks are made of a soft, flexible material. A button on the top of the cab roof activates horn and engine sounds, while a switch next to it activate the cab's window lights.

: Featuring a complex transformation, essentially the front and back ends of the truck fold and converge to become Optimus Prime's legs, as much of the truck rear is connected to the robot thighs via a series of folding panels. The rear wheel cowlings feature a hinge joint in the middle of them so they do not impede his knee articulation. The rear cabin of the cab, directly connected to the smokestacks, rotate and connect to his torso and unfold into his arms. As with most mainline Movie toys, Optimus Prime features [[Automorph]] gimmicks, and due to his pricepoint has three of them. Firstly, during initial transformation, rotating his front fenders to become his heels flips the top parts of the grill to become his toes. Secondly, sliding out the the double-barrel cannon in his right forarm flips out his pernamently attached, spring-loaded Ion Blaster, which lands into place for his right hand. Optimus' final Automorph, located in his torso, is activated by flipping the silver lever on his stomach activating a series of spring-loaded actions where they push the truck windows part, raises the lever between them and allows the head to spring up from the chest cavity. At this point yellow LEDs light up the chest windows and Optimus Prime's eyes, accompanied by a 'powering up' sound effect.

: Optimus Prime has a wide range of articulation for a relatively bulky figure. He has ratcheting joints in his shoulders, elbows, hips and knees, with swivel joints and ball joints supporting them in his biceps, lower knee joints and ankles. Again, unusually for a mainline figure, especially at the Leader pricepoint, his hands have individually articulated fingers and thumbs.
*'''Robo-Vision Optimus Prime''' (Voyager, 2007)

: A Target-[[exclusive]] repaint of the Voyager class Optimus Prime, this limited edition version has a much higher contrast in his red and blue plastic colours for a greater resemblance to ''Generation 1'' [[Optimus Prime (G1)|Optimus Prime]], as well as silver metallic paint covering much of his paintable grey/silver plastic.

: Unusually for the smaller Voyager-class of toys, [[Robo-Vision]] Optimus Prime comes packed in robot mode in a special hexagonal column box with many windows, similar to the original packaging for ''20th Anniversary'' Optimus Prime. The package also includes a [[Robo-Vision Decoder]].

: This two-pack contains the ''Fast Action Battler'' Power Hook Optimus Prime toy (designated "2007 Optimus Prime"), and the ''Classics'' Optimus Prime toy from ''The Ultimate Battle'' DVD two-pack. For some reason the ''Classics'' Prime toy is designated "1984 Optimus Prime", even though he was released in 2006.

: Partially constructed of die-cast metal, this small three inch figurine of Optimus Prime has a CGI-accurate sculpt compared to the larger toys, owing to the fact it does not need to transform at all. He is sculpted with his Ion Blaster in his right fist, and is articulated at the neck, shoulders and waist.
[[Image:MovieProtoform_Starscream_toy.jpg|right|thumb|250px|So we can assume this is the Screamer that fought the Ghost 1, right?]]

:Based upon the 'Protoform' (Cybertronian) appearances of the Transformers in the Movie, Protoform Starscream transforms into his 'Entry' mode cybertronic rocket thing. This mode somewhat resembles a cybertronic spaceship, with a visible bridge between the two dorsal fins. A flame decoration piece fits to the back of the 'vehicle' over the missile projectile, creating the illusion of a flaming comet. The bottom of the vehicle has small wheels to roll the toy across smooth surfaces.

:In robot mode, Starscream marginally resembles previous Starscreams, mostly G1 Starscream, with the large turbines on his chest, wings and vents on his legs. Due to his extensive use of ball joints, he has excellent articulation. Starscream is armed with a spring-loaded missile launcher that fires the previously mentioned projectile cast in the same broze colour as his body. Alternatively, the flame decoration can be fitted onto the end of the barrel.

:This toy also has an Automorph feature, as most of the figures in the main line do. By pushing his head back during transformation, his shoulder pieces move back into place, while moving them forward will make the bead pop back up. It's also unusual as being one of very few "modern era" figures to have "[[kibble]]," in its original context; only the missile or the flame attachment can be put into the gun while in robot mode, leaving the other to sit off to the side somewhere (probably the flame).

It's also entirely possible for this figure to eventually suffer from [[Gold Plastic Syndrome|GPS]], as the bronze plastic it is cast in has the same characteristic swirling that older figures exibited before it would deteriorate. However, newer materials and processes may prevent the toy from ever seeing a single crack form.
*'''Protoform Starscream''' (Deluxe, 2007)

*'''Lunchables''' "Pocket Transformers" toy prize (2007)
:Free inside specially marked boxes of Oscar Meyer Lunchables dinners, Starscream was one of six "Pocket Transformers" toy prizes. Molded in green, his tablet unfolds to reveal a picture of his robot mode inside.
