Synopsis
On an island off the coast of America, the Decepticon Headmaster Juniors draw a crowd of local children when they perform some impressive surfing stunts. A young boy named Tony is particularly impressed, and gets especially excited when the Juniors offer to show them all something "even cooler"—their Masterforce powers! Unfortunately for Tony and his friends, the Decepticons Pretenders have been watching, and view this as an opportunity to draw out and destroy Ginrai by kidnapping the children to use as bait. While the Juniors hold the children in a cave along the coastline, the Pretenders announce to the people of the island that they have captured their children.

Ginrai, meanwhile, is in his truck on the side of the road, deep in thought, ruminating on his friend Sam's beliefs about his Godmaster powers being the will of God. Diver soon contacts him to let him know of the Decepticons' activities, and Ginrai quickly meets with him and Lander at the Ocean Research Institute. Lander is especially peeved at the Decepticons' timing, since he had a date planned, and winds up tossing his concert tickets to the dolphins swimming in the institute's waters. Diver decides to scout ahead for the Autobots, approaching the island from underwater to observe the situation.

Back on the island, the Decepticon Pretenders take up their positions in preparation for the Autobots' arrival. Wilder and Bullhorn are both rather surprised to spot the little-seen Seacon leader Turtler patrolling the waters around the island—although not quite as much as Gilmer is to see Diver approaching the island underwater. He allows Diver to reach the island and assume his human form, at which point he bursts out of the ocean and seizes him. Dauros fits him with a brace that prevents him from crossing his arms and reassuming his robot mode, and has him tossed in with the captive human children. Luckily for Diver, Wilder and Bullhorn are a little too busy playing cards to notice when he has Tony remove his watch and place it in the water at the cave's edge, sending out a powerful sonic signal that is detected by his dolphins back at the Ocean Research Institute. All the other Autobots have since gathered at the Institute to await Diver's report, and Lander realises that Diver must be sending out ultrasonic waves when the dolphins begin to react to them.

The dolphins are let out into the ocean so that the Autobots can follow them back to the source of the signal aboard some of the Institute's vessels. Dauros spots the ships approaching, and recognizes Ginrai's Transtector sitting on the deck – but unbeknownst to him, Ginrai is not on the boat, but is in fact approaching the island by swimming with the dolphins. It is not long before the ships are attacked by Blood and some Tentakils, but Metalhawk and Phoenix fend them off while the ships draw ever closer to the island. Gilmer emerges as the next line of defence, but Lander takes him on as the Decepticon Juniors open fire on the ships from the coast. A blast from Cancer ruptures the hull of the vessel carrying the Transtectors, and sends the ship sinking into the ocean, so the Autobot Juniors transform to robot mode and leap the rest of the way. Ginrai's Transtector also starts to slip off the deck and into the sea, but just before it disappears into the water, Ginrai—who has since reached the island—summons it and transforms to robot mode. Ginrai quickly takes out Wilder and frees Diver and the children, but the battle continues to rage between the other Pretenders and Juniors. Minerva appeals to Cancer, trying to convince him to leave the Decepticons and join the side of good, but Bullhorn steps in to strike her down before her words can have any impact.

Discovering that Ginrai has freed the hostages, Dauros calls in the Decepticons' secret weapon and commands Turtler to emerge from beneath the waves. Ginrai is stunned when the Seacon actually speaks, uttering a command to the other Seacon drones that burst out of the water behind him to "assemble." The five drones link up to Turtler, merging to form the gigantic King Poseidon, who immediately tears into Ginrai while the Decepticon Pretenders pull back. Left abandoned, the Decepticon Juniors are surrounded by the Autobots, and Minerva again tries to reach Cancer, but the three teens quickly flee. Meanwhile, Ginrai struggles against King Poseidon, who attempts to stomp both him and the children. Ginrai seizes the giant villain's foot as it bears down on him and strains to hold it back as Tony cheers for him. Surging with determination, Ginrai begins to glow with an iridescent light...and, out in the shallow waters around the island, that glow is mirrored by Ginrai's Transtector trailer, which flies out of the ocean and collides with King Poseidon, knocking him away. Then, the incredible happens—Ginrai links up with his trailer and transforms into a new super-robot mode! With the power of his new form, Ginrai thrashes King Poseidon and slams him into the ground, causing the Seacon drones to explode, leaving only Turtler, who escapes into the ocean. The Autobot onlookers are amazed by (and perhaps just a little jealous of) Ginrai's sudden new power up, and they dub him with a fitting new name: Super Ginrai!
*Minerva's attempts to appeal to Cancer come as a result of the connection they made in "A Strange Friendship: Cancer and Minerva."
*Ginrai got his trailer back in "Friend or Foe!? The True Form of the Monster!!" But if you saw the previous episode, then the fact that he was going to combine with it was no surprise, since the commercial bumpers gave it away.

Trivia
*When taking up positions in preparation for Ginrai's arrival, the Decepticon Pretenders highlight the "land, sea and air" theme that they embody in this episode, as discussed on the Wiki back in the article for "Rise Up!! Pretenders."
*There was a two-week break between the previous episode and this one when they originally aired on Japanese television.

Synopsis
Driving down a deserted highway in his Transtector in the dead of night, Ginrai is suddenly swept up by a tornado and tossed to the side of the road. Thrown from his truck, he lies unconscious for some time before awakening to see a strange, shimmering ball floating in the air above him. Bolts of energy lance from the sphere, and Ginrai attempts to flee, but he is caught by one and trapped in it, unable to cross his Master-Braces. Just then, three small figure-eight shapes descend from the sky and fire their own energy at the sphere, causing it to vanish. The figure-eights glow brightly and surround Ginrai...

...who awakes with a start in his bed. The dream has left the Godmaster vaguely unsettled, and the feeling is only worsened when he gets in his Transtector and discovers that three new sets of Master-Braces have appeared in its glove box! He immediately meets with Diver, who contacts Hawk, and they arrange for Ginrai to bring the bracelets to the Autobot base in Japan for study. The Headmaster Juniors meet him at the harbour as his ship comes in... but watching from the rooftops nearby are the Decepticon Juniors, having been dispatched to keep an eye on the situation. As the four Autobots return to their base, the young Decepticons shadow them by moving through the forest at the side of the road, but Shūta spots them, and a battle ensues. Ginrai makes quick work of the three punks, and when Wilder and Bullhorn come around, they discover that the Autobots have captured Cancer!

Back at the Autobot base, Cancer fights and wriggles for all he's worth as Ginrai handcuffs him to a cot, much to Minerva's disgust. She treats a cut on Cancer's cheek with minimal protestation from the boy, but when she tries offering him a glass of orange drink, he kicks it from her hand, shattering it and cutting her. Shūta and Cab are furious, but still Minerva prevents them from taking out their anger on Cancer. Meanwhile, Ginrai and Hawk attempt a scan of the bracelets Ginrai found, only for the equipment to explode when they attempt to gauge the level of power they contain. There is no doubt that these are the Master-Braces of three future Godmasters, but Ginrai is less than enthused, as his free-floating life is becoming increasingly tied down by what feel like the manipulations of destiny. In a moment of anger, determined to understand properly what is happening to his life, he bursts into Cancer's cell and seizes the boy, demanding that Cancer tell him everything he knows about what Godmasters are. Minerva intervenes, getting Ginrai to back down, and offers Cancer the drink again. He relents and thirstily accepts. The Juniors are ordered from the room, and Ginrai repeats his question. This time, Cancer starts to give him answers...

Cancer relates the story of Godmasters as he has been told it by Giga and Mega. Godmasters, Giga claims, are godly beings from the depths of space, who serve as messengers for the Decepticons. The Godmasters currently on Earth came to the planet in the ancient past, although originally, they were not multiple beings, but one giant entity which split seven "offspring" off from itself when it entered Earth's atmosphere. The seven offspring fell on land, while the main body was buried deep in an ocean trench until the present day, when they awoke, took the form of Transtectors, and awaited human life with which to bond. Giga and Mega, it is revealed, are bonded to the main body.

Now aware that, although they have only three sets of Master-Braces, there are four more Godmasters hidden somewhere on Earth, the Autobots make a show of releasing Cancer. Ginrai, however, slips a homing beacon onto the back of his shirt as he is taken back to the forest where Wilder and Bullhorn are still searching for him. As Cancer is being transported, Hydra and Buster rendezvous with the two remaining Decepticon Juniors, arriving on the scene just as Cancer is being set free (with a wayward glance back in Minerva's direction). Hydra instantly spots the homing beacon and crushes it. The signal cutting out allows Ginrai and Hawk to realize that something is wrong, and Ginrai speeds to the Juniors' aid in battle against the Godmasters. Buster, however, has his blaster to Minerva's head... only for Cancer to snatch her away, begging the Godmaster brothers not to kill anyone! Surprised and distracted by this turn of events, Hydra is flattened by Ginrai and orders a retreat. Cancer blushes furiously as Minerva thanks him, claiming that it was merely payback for the drink and rushing off after his comrades.

Notes
Continuity errors
*While their sudden appearance is basically just intended to be creepy and prophetic, the fact is, it's never actually explained where in the hell the other Master-Braces came from (they couldn't simply have been lying in the truck, or Ginrai would have found them when he found his own), nor why they weren't with their own Transtectors, the way Hydra and Buster's were, or how Clouder's will be shown to be later in the series.
*When Shūta transforms shortly before Minerva is taken hostage, he's driving along in his Transtector for no apparent reason.

Transformers references
*The sphere of light seen by Ginrai in his prophetic dream is the same mysterious orb that viewers have been occasionally seeing in the Decepticon base. As we've explained before, it's the Decepticon emperor, Devil Z, but that has not yet been revealed in the show, and the mystery surrounding it only increases with this episode.
*This episode returns to the enigmatic claim made by Mega and Giga that Godmasters are their children, as seen back in "A Hero Is Chosen - His Name Is Ginrai". We are now able to understand that claim—they are bonded to the "main body" (the identity of which will not be revealed until "Super Ginrai Gets Blown Away in the Desert!?", a dozen episodes away) from which the other seven Godmaster Transtectors split off. Hence, they consider those seven Godmasters their children. HOWEVER, this story does not fit in the slightest with what "Shūta and Grand's Masterforce Super-Secrets!" reveals about Godmasters and their origins, or, indeed some other things seen in the show itself—least of all why, if they were all originally Decepticons, Ginrai's Master-Braces had Autobot symbols on them from the outset. Go read the Godmaster article for the proper origin of these guys. All indications would be that the story related in this episode is a skewed version of the truth, full of lies and half-truths passed on to Giga and Mega by Devil Z. So it's not particularly helpful that it's the only origin story told in the entire broadcast series.
*The silhouetted figures that Ginrai imagines when thinking of the Godmasters for the first time are, indeed, the animation models for Lightfoot and Road King at least; the third one doesn't look bulky enough to be Ranger. However, the second time they are shown, at the end of the episode, none of them really seem to match up.

Real-world references
*As well as mysterious bracelets, the glove compartment of Ginrai's truck contains a packet of Lucky Strike cigarettes.
*One of the ships visible in the harbour scene bears a resemblance to the ocean liner Canberra.
*Cancer seems to have devoloped Stockholm syndrome in this episode.

Trivia
*It is not explicitly stated in the anime how Mega and Giga discovered the Transtector with which they became bonded. The Super-God Masterforce manga, however, reveals that they were a couple who drowned at sea. Drifting to the bottom of the chasm where the Transtector lay, they were restored to life by Devil Z and bonded with it.
The construction of the world's largest tidal power plant in the Karin Islands quickly attracts the attention of the Decepticons, and the Autobots are once again faced with the power of the Godmaster brothers.

:Also known as: "The Cybertrons are in Danger"

Synopsis
In Giga and Mega's secret headquarters, the Decepticons make plans to move their operations back to the base used by the Pretenders. Giga plans to destroy the base once they have left, in order to cover their tracks, but Mega request that it be left intact so she can use it as a secret laboratory.

At the International School in Japan, Shūta's mind is occupied by thoughts of the Godmaster brothers, but the mood is lightened by the arrival of Cab's pets, followed by the jungle boy himself. Cab has just been released from detention with his most hated teacher, Mister Kaiser, after scoring a zero on a test, and it's not long before Kaiser himself appears, with a letter from Cab's homeland. The three Headmaster Juniors retire to Cab's tree house, where Cab reads the letter and discovers that the world's largest tidal power plant has been constructed on Viscas Island.

Soon after, the Juniors join the Autobot Pretenders in reviewing video footage of their battle with the Godmasters. Although the Autobots believed that they had not been able to inflict any damage to the brothers, a slowed-down replay of the action reveals that they had indeed injured them, but that the Godmasters' incredible powers had healed it instantaneously. This confirms Hawk's suspicions—the Godmasters are neither Transformers nor humans, but an entirely new breed of lifeform. Cab, however, is unconcerned, certain that the Autobots can beat the Godmasters, and Hawk snaps at him to take the matter seriously, as it is more than likely that the Godmasters possess even greater power that the Autobots have yet to see. Cab doesn't take the scolding well and mopes around the base until Minerva accuses him of being childish. In a rather silly effort to prove his manhood, Cab gulps down the scalding hot cup of tea that Minerva has just poured, and burns himself—much to the amusement of the other two Juniors. Cab is also able to see the funny side, and the bad atmosphere is lifted.

Meanwhile, the Decepticons have relocated to the Pretenders' base, where Cancer wants to show off his "Super Dragon Fist Technique" to Mega. Gilmer is elected to serve as his "sand bag", and is floored by Cancer's attack. As Wilder and Bullhorn mutter about how Cancer has become like Mega's pet, Giga, Hydra and Buster enter, and the Decepticons review their strategy for world domination.

Mega wishes to start with Asia, and recommends the elimination of all readily-available energy sources in the region – so naturally, Viscas Island's tidal power plant is the first target she chooses. Before departing to commence the attack, the Godmasters condescendingly invite the Pretenders to come and watch, to see how it should be done. Giga and Mega try to soothe the Pretenders' tempers by explaining that the Godmasters and Headmaster Juniors are best suited to their operations on Earth due to their inherent human factor, but being ranked lower on the importance scale than the Juniors is the last straw for the Pretenders, and they head for Viscas Island to join in the attack.

As Hydra and Buster begin the assault on the tidal power plant, the Autobots receive news of the attack and the Pretenders head out. Soon after, however, the Decepticon Pretenders appear on the island and attack its oil refinery, forcing the Headmaster Juniors to join in the battle. Metalhawk and the Juniors perform rescue operations and battle the Pretenders, ultimately forcing them to retreat, and then rush to the aid of Lander, Diver and Phoenix, who are fighting the Godmasters. The Autobots are badly outmatched by the Godmasters' Chōkon Power, but Metalhawk is able to distract Buster with his "Shining Arrow" technique, allowing Diver to lodge his Sea Axe in the younger Godmaster's arm. Buster is unable to heal the wound with the axe stuck in his arm, so Hydra tears it free, but the injured Buster is shaken, and the Godmasters pull out of the fight. The Autobots survey the battlefield, content at least that they have kept the damage to a minimum.

Back in the Decepticon base, Buster is furious over his failure, and wonders if he is, in fact, weaker than his brother. Mega and Giga assure him that he possesses the same level of Chōkon Power as Hydra, and that any weakness he possesses is not physical, but in his heart. At the same time as Buster vows to become even stronger than his brother, the strength of the Godmasters is also once again on the mind of Shūta, who wants to know why there aren't any Autobot Godmasters...
*Improbable viewpoints:
**Somehow the Pretenders have multi-angle footage of their fight with the Godmaster brothers from the previous episode.

Continuity notes
*Cab's letter is from Donq, his grandfather-figure, last seen in "Terror! The Decepticons' Manhunt".
*Although the previous episode established that Godmasters possess Ten-Chi-Jin Power, it was up to the audience to draw the connection between the three energies—Tenchōkon, Chichōkon, Jinchōkon—mentioned back in "Go, Goshooter - Showdown in the Wasteland". The connection is made explicit by Giga in this episode, and the Godmasters start using the energy offensively.

Trivia
*Despite Mega's insistence that their old base be preserved, it never appears again.
*Cancer's "Super Dragon Fist" involves... kicking the enemy.
*As in the previous episode, there is once again very little reason for the Godmasters to retreat from the fight, give that Buster should have healed in seconds after the axe was dislodged from his arm. Although perhaps what makes Buster suspect he has less Chōkon Power than Hydra is the fact that he didn't heal, necessitating the retreat.
Wilder continues to revisit his past when he kidnaps a former member of his gang who turned against him, and Shūta has to lead the Headmaster Juniors in rescuing him.

Synopsis
In the Decepticon base at the bottom of the ocean, Blood lectures the Headmaster Juniors on the Chōkon Power, the three primal energies of life—Chichōkon, the power of Earth, Jinchōkon, the power of Man and Tenchōkon, the power of the Heavens. The Decepticons aspire to destabilize the balance of life on Earth by disrupting any one of the three Chōkon Powers, taking that energy for their own evil ends. Wilder decides to make a very personal start to the theft of Jinchōkon from human beings, selecting as his victim his former friend Chris, previously a member of his Jack Boys motorcycle gang who left the group after Wilder joined the Decepticons. Chris is snatched off the streets by the gang under Wilder's orders, but his sister, Mary, spots the kidnap and follows on her scooter. She soon loses their trail, and, searching for help, spots a police car—only it's not an actual officer's vehicle, but the Transtector belonging to Shūta, who is out shopping with Minerva and Cab for a party for their last night in America. The Headmaster Juniors listen to Mary's story, and vow to help save her brother; she leads them to one of the gang's hangouts in the barren land outside the city.

At the gang's hideout, the kidnapped Chris is brought before Wilder; although Wilder proceeds to deliver a speech about how the power they now possess means they have nothing to fear, he also seems to display a genuine friendship for Chris when he asks him to stay with the gang—making him all the more furious when Chris refuses, telling Wilder that he is a changed man, causing Wilder to hurl his former friend into a wall and punch and kick him until he bleeds. At that point, a gang member alerts Wilder to the approach of Mary and the Autobot Headmaster Juniors. A battle ensues, with Shūta drawing the attention of the three Decepticon Juniors while Cab attempts to sneak into the hideout and get Chris to safety. Bullhorn spots him, however, and Minerva then comes to his aid while Shūta continues to battle Wilder.

Cancer tips the battle when he disconnects from his Transtector and captures Mary, putting a knife to her throat and preventing the Autobots from acting. Chris recovers from his beating in time to see his sister in danger and sneaks away from the gang, who are caught up watching the fight, stealing a motorcycle and driving it straight into Cancer's head. Chris leaps free as the bike explodes, and Cancer is toppled, allowing Mary to escape while Minerva paralyzes the other Decepticons with her Shock Gun. With Mary and Chris both safe, the Autobot Juniors transform to vehicle mode and make themselves scarce.

Back at the Ocean Research Institute, Diver joins the Juniors, Chris and Mary in a dinner party cooked by Cab. As Chris sees the friends laughing and joking together, he is reminded of his early days with Wilder, and how much his friend changed in the name of power. Diver tells Chris that all the Autobots are his friends, and Chris decides to make a new start with his life.

Meanwhile, back in the Decepticon base, Gilmer walks through the main hall alone, passing by the pillar atop which rests the glowing orb of light as he mutters to himself that Wilder is still a weakling. No sooner have the words passed his gills, however, than a bolt of crackling energy leaps from the orb and rips through Gilmer, who screams and begs forgiveness...
Animation or technical errors
*The shop the kids are shopping at is a "Super Marcket".
*While challenging Bullhorn, Cab is drawn with a red Decepticon mark in place of his Autobot symbol.

Transformers references
*For the first time since its debut in "Terror! The Decepticons' Manhunt", we once again see the pulsating globe of light in the Decepticon base. As discussed in that article, since we have to list it in the character table above there's no point in hiding the fact that it's the Decepticon emperor, Devil Z, but the significance of the orb is not yet known in the show itself. This episode really draws viewers' attentions to it, however, with a lingering shot early in the episode, and the final scene (described above) making it clear that this ain't just Dauros's nightlight.
*The Autobot Headmaster Juniors have been visiting Diver in America since last episode.
*Likewise, we also learned about Wilder's past with the Jack Boys in the previous episode. He appears to have rebuilt the gang in the interim.

Trivia
*As noted in the article for "Birth! Headmaster Jrs", the "Goshooter" mentioned in the title is Shūta's "Transformer" name, derived from the traditional Japanese construction of one's full name. It's the name his toy was sold under, although it's never actually used in dialogue and doesn't appear in the show again in any capacity after this episode.
*This episode introduces the mysteries of Chōkon Power—although it bears very little relevance to the events of the episode itself, it will go on to be one of the most important concepts in Super-God Masterforce.

Synopsis
Off the coast of Canada, aboard a luxury cruise liner, the captain of the vessel entertains his passengers with a song as he steers through the night. Down on the deck, a pair of newlyweds are on their honeymoon, with the husband filming his wife against the moonlight on a video camera... when suddenly, from the ocean depths, two monstrous creatures appear! A flying, bipedal bat-monster slaughters the captain, while a fish-like humanoid pulls the girl into the freezing waters. This pair are Blood and Gilmer, Decepticon Pretenders, who terrorize the crew and summon mechanical fish-beasts known as Gulfs to destroy the engine room. As the ship sinks amidst explosions, the pair cackle evilly, knowing that this will flush out the one they seek... the one known as "Metalhawk".

Far away from this scene of destruction, the following day, in Japan, scientist Professor Gō and his partner Hawk are watching Gō's son, Shūta, play in a school soccer match. Afterwards, the pair are returning to Gō's laboratory at the Space Astronomy Research Center when Hawk receives a communication from a friend that he has not seen in some time, Diver, who informs him of the Decepticon attack on the cruise liner. The tape from the husband's video camera was recovered, and Diver has had the footage forwarded to Gō's laboratory for Hawk to see; Hawk immediately recognises the two Decepticons, and he and Professor Gō realize that the time they have feared and planned for has come to pass - after being gone from Earth for so long, the Decepticons have at last returned! Just then, Shūta arrives at the lab, and his father asks him to leave the room as he and Hawk talk, but Hawk decides that Shūta should also be made aware of the situation. Shūta, however, is less than convinced when Hawk reveals his secret - he is not from Earth.

Night settles in as Hawk explains the full story to Shūta. He is Metalhawk, one of a group of Autobot Pretenders, who have the power to transform into human beings. They came to Earth during the Neolithic era when they pursued a group of Decepticons into the Solar system, and their damaged ships crashed on the planet. Unable to return home, they used their powers to adopt the forms of human beings, to safeguard the burgeoning mankind against the Decepticons, who took on monstrous forms to terrorize them. Hawk and his fellow Pretenders defeated the Decepticons and sealed them away in remote locations around the Earth... but now, they're back!

Hawk's statement is punctuated by an explosion somewhere else in the world, as another of the Decepticons' monstrous Seacons, Tentakil, destroys an oilfield and the human military helicopters that attack it. The Decepticon attack continues into the next day, as the third Decepticon Pretender, Dauros, directs a Tentakil in an attack on a Japanese city. Blood soon arrives, making fun of Dauros for "playing leader" - Dauros retort that Blood's actions are too weak, but Gilmer arrives to break up the fight before it can begin. A news report of the attack reaches Hawk, who is moved to action. With a cry of "Suit On!" he dons his battle armor, and then, to Shūta's shock, reveals his true form - his human features dissolve, and his body expands and enlarges, transforming into a giant golden robot. Metalhawk transforms into jet mode, and sends out the call for the other Pretenders to rally - Diver, an marine biologist at an Ocean Research Center in California, plunges into the ocean and becomes a submarine; Lander, a womanizing geologist, is interrupted in the middle of a date in New York, leaving his lady-friend dazed as he becomes a vehicle that speeds through the city streets, out-racing police; and the fourth member, Phoenix, lifts off from an airstrip into stormy skies as a jet.

Metalhawk arrives in the city, and the Pretenders hold back from attacking him to see how Tentakil fares. As they battle, Shūta arrives on the scene on his motorcycle, and cheers Metalhawk on as he pummels the Seacon. However, the boy is seized from behind by a second Tentakil, causing Metalhawk to be distracted long enough to be blasted out of the sky by his opponent. Metalhawk strikes back with his Titanium Saber, deflecting laser blasts and slashing the first Tentakil to bits, but as he turns on the second, the Decepticon Pretenders take action, transforming into their robot modes. Metalhawk demands to know how they escaped their prisons, but they simply attack him; he is badly outnumbered until Phoenix arrives to save his skin. Blood and Phoenix dogfight in their jet modes as Diver and Lander charge into view, and Lander tackles Dauros. Gilmer stays Metalhawk's hand by aiming his blaster at Shūta, but Diver sneaks up behind him and brings him down, freeing Metalhawk to save Shūta. With their Seacon servants defeated, the Decepticons flee.

As the sun begins to set, the Pretenders tell Shūta the rest of their story. When they first encountered humans, all those thousands of years ago, all they saw was small, frail beings - but when they discovered their ability to feel love, their compassion for others, and their indomitable courage, they were so shocked to find these qualities in such beings that they too decided to become humans. Taught by mankind that strength alone is not enough, the Autobot Pretenders have vowed to protect the Earth against the threat of the Decepticons!
Notes
Lost in translation
Among the changes made by the Omni Productions dub:
* As is usual for the dubs, characters are given their Western names.
* The photographer yells "Look! What is that!" before Gilmer even appears in view.
* Hawk doesn't play up the personal danger to Shūta from the Decepticons, instead mentioning that the Decepticons will do anything to fulfill their plans.
* While explaining the history of the Autobots, Hawk mentions "in the confusion many of us were lost, and now I can only identify four of us", implying that there are other Autobot Pretenders out there.
* The Decepticons are a lot more intent on calling out Metalhawk — it's all they ever talk about!
* According to the narrator, Phoenix is in Germany when he gets the call to action.
* Hawk's "humans are awesome" speech becomes a generic "the Decepticons will be back but we can defeat them by working together" speech.
* Right before the second commercial break, there's a pulling back shot of the two Tentakils standing over Metalhawk's body, and they both appear to be sliding sideways across the ground.

Continuity errors
*Despite occurring an undetermined number of years after The Headmasters, Super-God Masterforce — as is its wont — willfully ignored the futuristic setting and technology depicted throughout that series and the third season of the Generation 1 cartoon, in favor of presenting a world that basically corresponded to the present-day at the time (1988). This continues throughout the entire series.

Real-world references
*The newlywed woman is listed as "madonna" in the episode's credits. This, of course, has nothing to do with the singer or the Virgin Mary, but rather goes back to the word's origin as a medieval Italian word for an important woman. The Japanese have adopted the word to refer to cute girls — Masterforce character Minerva will even be referred to as a "little Autobot madonna" by Gilmer in a future episode.

Trivia
*The Super-God Masterforce title sequence is not afraid of offering up a few spoilers for what's to come in the series — depicted are Hydra and Buster, who won't appear for another seven episodes; Ginrai (who won't appear for nine episodes); King Poseidon (another fourteen episodes!); and Lightfoot (another fifteen episodes!!). And these are not one- or two-second-long fleeting glimpses of the characters, as is common with Western cartoon openings, but extended, detailed action sequences, which even reveal the characters' names through on-screen English text! The closing sequence is no better, featuring all six Headmaster Juniors.
*Likewise, the commercial bumpers also showcase several characters who have yet to appear - in addition to Metalhawk and Blood, the first set of bumpers featured in the series depict Shūta, King Poseidon and Ginrai.
*The Autobots and Decepticons all departed from the Earth at the end of The Headmasters.
*The above summary makes a few specific notes about the occupations and locations of the human-mode Autobot Pretenders that are casually revealed as the series progresses, that have all been listed here for simplicity's sake. Note the distinct "sea-land-air" theme running through the group's names, jobs and alternate modes — Diver is an underwater vehicle and works with sea animals; Lander is a ground vehicle and works as a geologist; and Phoenix is an aircraft... whose job is not actually explicitly revealed, but his attire, and his intro scene in this episode, suggest he works at an airport or an Air Force base. The trend is also continued with the Decepticon Pretenders, with the flying Blood, who becomes a jet; the aquatic Gilmer, who transforms into a submarine; and Dauros, who transforms into a tank that can tunnel underground. Even the fights in this episode are paired off in this manner — Phoenix vs. Blood, Lander vs. Dauros and Diver vs. Gilmer.
Synopsis
As Optimus lies defeated, Megatron stands gloating over his nemesis. To add insult to injury, Megatron has taken a new body... Primal's Optimal body, minus the beast mode. And, to make it just right, Megatron then adds the sparks of the Maximals to the spark containment chamber. Enraged, Optimus fights back, but Megatron punches him through the wall to the outside of the big floating head. Optimus manages to get in a few more shots, but stops, seeing the sparkless bodies of Silverbolt and Blackarachnia. Megatron takes a moment to rub it in, then attacks.

Primal flees through the city scape, flying a merry little chase, until he reaches a power generator storage area. As Megatron temporarily loses track of his prey, Optimus comes up from behind and destroys several generators. Optimus barely manages to escape the inferno, as Megatron's left arm is thrown out of the flames. After Primal makes a bad pun, Megatron emerges. As Primal jumps into a nearby river, he dives, only to have Megatron follow him in and shoot a hole in the ground, causing them to sink into a whirlpool.

As Optimus wakes up, he realizes he is in the chamber of the Oracle. However, the technorganic orchard has been completely destroyed. Worse for Primal, he sees Rattrap and Botanica's sparkless bodies, lying on the ground, with their hands streched toward each other. Megatron then arrives, and takes him to the surface.

Heading toward the Council Citadel, Megatron activates a throne built into the Citadel to appear, then opens the spark chamber, absorbing the sparks and preparing to ascend to supplant the Matrix and achieve Godhood. As the sparks enter his body, Megatron grows in size. Primal tries to talk, saying that each spark is but a part of the Matrix and that together, they add to its totality. Megatron then activates the Key to Vector Sigma, to be used against the organic core. However, Megatron cannot fully activate the Oracle, as he and Primal are linked. Megatron then severs the link, and Primal fears that he has failed.

However, the sparks of his comrades speak to him, inspiring him on. Shooting a beam at Megatron's throne, vines extend and grab Megatron's arms. Primal then tries to push him into the core. However, Megatron grabs hold of Optimus, who merely shoots off Megatron's fingers to sever the vine, allowing them both to fall into the core. As they plummet, Primal bids Megatron farewell. Upon impact with the core, both Optimus and Megatron die in a flash of light. From space, a bright light rises, then begins to cover the surface of Cybertron.

Waking up, the Maximals find themselves on a technorganic world, which they realize is Cybertron. Rattrap is somewhat worried, then Botanica appears, and he jumps into her arms. As Silverbolt sweeps Blackarachnia off her feet, Waspinator appears as a tiny, technorganic wasp, pissed that he's been screwed over again. Then, the Oracle shows Cheetor a vision of Optimus Primal's spark, flying away, telling him to "transform, and transcend". As it fades, Cheetor mutters that he understands. In the distance, the freed Transformers, their sparks once again in bodies, run over the horizon, ready to assume control of the newly technorganic Cybertron.
"So, Optimus Primal, it all comes down to you and me. Or should I say, you and you?"

"Say farewell to arms, Megatron!"
:—Optimus Primal finds the time to crack wise when Megs loses an arm in their battle.

"My great ascension is finally complete! YEEEEESSSS!"

"What are you doing?!"<br />
"Planting the seeds of the future. We must seek the balance, Megatron. Not only between the organic and the technological, but the balance between eternal enemies. Between you and I!"
:—Megatron and Optimus Primal. One good thing about the last episode, no more Optimus speeches.

"The Great Transformation awaits, Megatron. Prepare to be... reformatted."<br />
"NOOOOOOOOOOO!"
:—Optimus Primals and Megatrons last words. (Until Universe, that is.)

"So I'm a tree-hugger, deal with it!"
:—Rattrap confesses his feelings for Botanica, letting his fellow Maximals (and the fandom) know where they can stick it.

"The menace has passed. Now we can truly be together, dark venom of my heart."<br />
"Oh, of all the corny..."
:—Silverbolts attempt to woo Blackarachnia almost fails until she realizes that she doesn't care.

"Waspinator want glory, Waspinator want power! And what does Waspinator get?! (Waspinator gets swatted away by Rattrap) Waspinator never gets what Waspinator wants!
:—Poor old Waspinator, who now is the size of a regular wasp and has Thrust's head.

"At long last. Transform your destiny. Transform and... transcend."<br />
"I... understand."
:—The Oracle and Cheetor

Notes
Technical/animation glitches
* The freed Transformers that appear at the end of the episode have pretty weird running animations. They are running forward, but their legs are moving as if they're running sideways.
* The first time Megatron uses his jet mode, his spark is colored blue instead of red.
* As Silverbolt delivers his final line, his right pupil is strangely shifted to the side, giving him a awkward stare.

Continuity errors
* When Megatron blasts Optimus out of the Spark Chamber room, the deactivated body of Thrust is seen right next to those of Silverbolt and Blackarachnia. The problem with this is that Silverbolt and Blackarachnia were deactivated outside of the base, whereas Thrust was deactivated by Cheetor inside the anti-gravity engine room in the previous episode. Though that doesn't necessarily preclude the possibility that Megatron's drones moved the empty shells.

Transformers references
*While in his vehicle modes, Megatron stores his spark in his cockpit. This is the same place that Primal stored the original Optimus Prime's spark during Optimal Situation.
*Megatron uses all of Optimal Optimus's modes (minus his removed beast mode) during this episode, arguably with greater efficiency than Primal did.
*In a truly beautiful irony, Megatron's final word is "Noooo!"

Other notes
*The Oracle makes contact with Cheetor towards the end of the episode. This is later played on in the comics, where later stories would establish Cheetor as a Matrix Templar alongside Rodimus and Snarl.

However, Megatron grabs hold of Optimus, who merely shoots off Megatron's fingers to sever the vine, allowing them both to fall into the core. As they plummet, Primal bids Megatron farewell. ==Synopsis==

Dinobot challenges Optimus Primal to mortal combat for the leadership of the Maximals. Rhinox wonders if the rest of them get a say, while Rattrap is indifferent and Cheetor offers to nail the Predacon himself. Optimus tries to talk sense to Dinobot, saying he's welcome to join the group, but not as leader. Dinobot is unimpressed; the two duel. Rattrap has to restrain Cheetor from joining in. Primal knocks Dinobot down, and the Predacon tells him to finish the job, but Optimus refuses, and Dinobot responds by blasting him, almost sending the Maximal leader over the edge. Dinobot helps him back up, stating that Primal slipped and that winning the fight that way would not have been honorable.

As they continue to fight, Megatron and his crew arrive, taking the chance to attack both combatants. Primal transforms to beast mode, pulling Dinobot out of the way of the missiles, but leaving the pair dangling over the ravine. Dinobot begins suffering from energon buildup, and pleads with Optimus to let him fall so that Optimus might save himself, but Optimus naturally refuses. The pair is saved at the last moment by Rhinox. This is the signal for another attack from the Predacons, which takes out the rock bridge. The Maximals (bar Rattrap, who has to be saved by Optimus) reach the other side of the bridge in time.

Megatron takes his frustrations out on Terrorsaur, but Scorponok points to where some of the Predacon missiles have struck a mountain, unveiling a massive cache of energon crystals. The Predacons set out for the mountain, but they're spotted heading for the energy crystals by the Maximals. Rhinox and Rattrap are ready to scrap Dinobot before starting out, but Optimus stops them. They set out for the mountain as well, though Rattrap is less than impressed with the news that Dinobot is coming too.

En route, Rhinox suggests Optimus fly ahead using his jets, but Primal believes there's strength in numbers. They spot a strange stone circle, obviously artificially built, but are interrupted in their discussion by the arrival of Terrorsaur and Waspinator. Optimus takes to the air and scares them off with a missile. As the two Predacons flee, Dinobot fires on them with his optical lasers, inadvertently blasting the ledge above them. Rhinox is forced to leap aside as a boulder comes crashing down on him, and Rattrap accuses him of intentionally trying to slag Rhinox. Optimus orders him to stand down.

The Predacons arrive at the mountain, though as Tarantulas points out, the energy will force them to remain in their beast modes. The Maximals arrive at roughly the same time, and both sides eye each other across a pass through the top mountain. After the prerequisite speech from Megatron, both sides charge and begin tearing into one another in beast form. Despite biting a chunk out of Optimus, Megatron is thrown aside and, as a last desperate gamble, transforms and fires a missile on Optimus. Dinobot throws himself between the pair, knocking the missile with his tail and saving Primal, but the missile begins a chain reaction. Both teams quickly flee.

As the Maximals watch the resultant explosions, Dinobot explains that his actions are payment of a debt—he owed Primal his life; now they are even. Primal says that's good enough for the moment, and proclaims that the Beast Wars have begun.
Notes
* During the audio commentary for this episode on Madman Entertainment's Beast Wars Season 3 DVD, Garry Chalk's cell phone suddenly rings, forcing him to step outside, while Scott McNeil and Alec Willows crack jokes about it being Garry's mom on the line.
* At the end of the episode, Megatron transforms without his command code. The Maximals do the same when the Predacon fliers attack on the way to the mountain. This is a rarity in the early episodes, but becomes commonplace as the series progresses.

Animation or technical glitches
* Waspinator's bee-stripes on his thighs are mapped along the wrong axis.
* As the Maximals start for the energon mountain and Rattrap is left behind if you look closely you'll see Optimus' legs are messed up
* Often, when the "energon mountain" appears in the distance, a large piece of energon in the foreground clips and flickers, making it appear as though the energon is appearing and disappearing at random.
* Though Megatron takes quite a chunk out of Primal's left leg during the final battle, the damage disappears when the Maximals retreat.

Continuity errors
* During the scene with Dinobot, in the background, the Axalon is missing from its crash site.

* When the Maximals and Predacons are charging towards each other in the big fight, it is established that all combatants were running almost side-by-side. Yet in each of the closeups of each combatant, it seems they are the only ones actually charging in the small crevasse.

* After the energon mountain explodes and the Maximals are seen ducking for cover, every shot showing Optimus Primal and Dinobot in the foreground features none of the other Maximals in the background, even though they were seen standing behind the pair moments earlier, and both Rattrap and Rhinox are seen when Rattrap thinks they have won. Oddly enough, Cheetor is no longer in the scene at all.

* The very same scene features a lot of rubble from the destroyed mountain in close-ups of Rattrap and Rhinox, but relatively little rubble when Optimus Primal and Dinobot are in the foreground.

Plot errors
* Scorponok directs Megatron's attention to the missiles approaching the mountain. The missiles then hit the mountain, revealing it to be full of energon. There's no reason to believe Scorponok knew the energon was there, so why did he care about the imminent impact of the missiles?
* Megatron deciding to destroy the mountain is...questionable. Though Optimus Primal managed to throw him into a rock face, Primal himself was down and crippled, while Megatron appeared ready to keep fighting.

"It is over, Megatron!"<br>
"It is never over. Noooo! For if I must die, I shall take you with me!"
:—Optimus Primal and Megatron

"So for now, let the battle be here, on this strange primitive world. And let it be called...Beast Wars!"
:—Optimus Primal after the first of many battles.
